They have very delicious meals especially delicious manti and livers. All the salats and appetizers are really good tastes. The main thing is that all the staffs are very friendly and welcome. They care about customers. They brought for iftar water and dates. Thanks for the dinner. I surely come again. It worth go spend the time and money.
The best beef shish kebab! The meat is tender and juicy with wonderful aroma, cooked to perfection . The buttery meat juice on the rice is unforgettable! I kept going back for it when I had a chance.
Very nice place to sit down and relax and enjoy delicious Mediterranean food! Delicious and not that expensive... authentic Turkish food and they gave us free Turkish tea!!!Highly recommended!!!!
Lives up to its ratings! I ordered the mixed appetizer and mixed grill so that I can get a taste of everything at once. Not one item was bad, every single appetizer and kebab was delicious. Serves a genorous portion for a affordable price. Good customer service as well.
We dined in with our small kids and this place was perfect. The staff seemed to anticipate when a cup/napkin/etc. would be needed. Food was served quickly and everything was delicious. I would happily go back!
Excellent food! And they even gave a complimentary rice pudding dessert with the order. The food takes time to be delivered, but it is because they cook it so nicely. You will not be dissapointed once it arrives and you bite into it! I would rather have well prepared, delicious food than fast food. Thank you, Hazar! :)
The best lamb gyro sandwich. Excellent place for Turkish take-out. Fresh and ready so fast. I love this place and always stop when I can to pick up takeout. Sigara Borek and lamb Adana tastes sinful. Salads are fresh and veggies taste home grown, don't pass this place up!
Been eating here for years! The food is consistently good! The food is cooked like food cooked in a home not like a halal cart. So expect more traditional flavors that showcase the ingredients rather than over-salted garbage. Don't forget the deserts, they are also wonderful! We eat here at least once a week since they opened.
I always come with my family and we eat all kinds of delicious and satisfying mixed grills. today we had a peaceful meal for the first time without angry looks, thank you for the friendly face and the attention of the staff, we will come back.
This place is by far the best middle eastren/ Halal resturent in bay ridge and trust me I tried them all. The food is fresh and tasty and you can tell all the ingredients they use are fresh. All the meats are fresh and juicy (try the mixed grill) and the apps are excellent. Service is great, and all employees are attentive. The place has a casual atmosphere. But don't let that fool you. The food is fine dinning for a fraction of the price. Due to Covid the last two times we ate from this place were take out. But they still managed to deliver our food fresh and consistent with thier standards,It didn't take away from the quality. Unlike many other restaurants.
Very good food and service. I especially like their Chicken & Lamb Gyro sandwich deal that gets your 2 sandwiches for only 12.99. Basically you can feed 2 people with this amazing deal. Staff were good overall. Food was good overall. Been here twice. Will come back.
I was hrateful to have been able to treat myself to lunch there last weekend. The soup was phenomenal. The Gyro platter was great, abundant, and the coffee was also great. I was tempted to get a baklava dessert, but my high a1c stopped me. Can' t wait to go back.
Very delicious!!! I will definitely come again
The best Turkish food and the sweetest staff 🥰🥰
Great food, love the lunch special. It's a lot of food for the price, tastes great, and they give you tea at the end of the meal which is a really nice gesture and made for a great atmosphere and experience. Highly recommend!
The lamb pita sandwich was good. The special get two for 13 dollars is good. The only thing they charge tax so it is really 14 dollars I think. Inside is clean and they have good service.
We have been eating at this lovely little restaurant for many years. The food is consistently delicious, the people are friendly and attentive, and the ambiance is down to earth and welcoming. It is a wonderful spot for lunch, dinner, or even just a cup of tea and dessert. If you didn't try it, you don't know what you are missing.
I have been ordering from here for years. Every order is fresh and delicious. The rice and salad that comes with the platter is perfect. I usually order extra yogurt sauce. Also for the price, you cannot go wrong. Love this place.
Very good Turkish halal restaurant . Plenty of food in each dish, clean I would come again and advise my friends to go also
This is the definition of neighborhood restaurant with a great love for what they do. The food is amazing and the service is outstanding. Mixed grill is a good way to get a taste of what they offer. Their menu has some delicious food and everything looks very enticing. Prices are low and the restaurant is very clean. I will definitely be coming back more often.
Great value for money and excellent service with complimentary heartwarming tea.
Just got a take out order from them and it was amazing! The gyros were delicious and the babaganoush tasted great with the homemade bread. We ordered a large order for our Ramadan iftar, they gave us two free desserts along with it and our total was much more inexpensive than if we had ordered the same exact meals at a similar establishment. We’ll definitely be ordering again! The service was also excellent, everyone was so helpful, thank youuu! Ramadan Mubarak 🫶🫶🫶
I’ve been coming here for 6 years. Food was always good but nowadays the quality of the food is incredibly tasty. We’ve been there yesterday. I got kofte kebab and my friend got lahmacun. It was very delicious. Portions are very big and satisfying. When you go for a lunch employees are always smiling and giving the best service. Price also affordable. Definitely worth it. Thank you guys 👍🏼 keep up the good work
The best.Very delicious. The staff is very friendly.Unlimited tea for customers
No wait. Affordable tasty Turkish food. Love this place!
What an amazing experience with my parents. The food was delicious, also had a great vibe and the owner and the family were very hospitable. I saw the family cooking food that is authentic and was very flavourful. My parents were impressed & very happy with everything and enjoyed the experience.
Got the chicken kebab and shepards salad. Food was excellent. Owner was extremely pleasant. Great experience will definitely return.
Everything I had was delicious. Shepherds salad, chicken kebab and even the bread was delicious. I will definitely be eating here again.
Great food 🍱 thanks Lokmane ! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hazar Turkish Kebab is an excellent place to eat in Brooklyn! We received outstanding service from Lokmane and his team — very friendly, professional, and welcoming. They even offered us tea while we were waiting for our mixed grilled plate, which was delicious and perfectly cooked. The atmosphere is warm, the service is great, and the food is high quality. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone, especially for those looking for halal Turkish food.
Sweet staff. food is delicious. I will come again!
I was there with my family, they was very welcoming and we had some freebies we had a free dessert also its very clean and there is so many customers that wants to eat just like us
The restaurant food is very delicious and personal very kind people. I think might be one of the best restaurants in Mediterranean kitchens.
The food here is absolutely delicious! We've been three times, and every visit has been worth it. Each time, we tried different dishes, and they were consistently excellent. The place is clean and well-organized, which adds to the enjoyable atmosphere. The highlight, though, is the amazing service—especially from our server, Osman, who truly made our experience memorable.
Hands down the best Turkish restaurant in Brooklyn in my opinion. I've been coming here for years and have never been disappointed and I understand the restaurant is under new ownership currently and the food was exactly how it always was. The mixed grill is perfect for my low carb diet and I left very satisfied.
Turkish food with great quality and reasonable price. Definitely try this place! The lamb chops is tender and like all their èntrees comes with rice, and a decent side salad (don't forget to use their white dressing). The Adana and Kofte are seasoned to perfection, the meat here just shines in terms of taste and quality. The staff are polite and nice, which grants this place a perfect 5/5. Disclaimer: don't come here and order fries, it's not a McDonald's! I didn't take their fries (which ain't great) to my consideration.
Wow!! I was amazed to see how much food they give you one plate. It's good for two persons easily. If you cant food you take as to go. They have sweet dessert as well. You dont have to wait to long for the food. And everything's fresh. Its clear. If you decided to go as group then it's better make Reservation ahead. Because it's always busy.
Love this place. Great tasting food and deserts. Great for a group of friends to have dinner or even a snack. Friendly staff with good music and cleanliness. Wheelchair accessible. The place has doors all around and can be opened to get more fresh air.
I love this place. Delicious food and excellent service. I've bought dinner 4 times from this place and was never disappointed. They have yummy-looking desserts also. I tried one the last time I was there, and it was really good. I don't know the name, but it looked like custard though it had no custard in it. As for the food, I've tried their lamb shashlik kabob and chicken shashlik kabob. They were great. They also give you a bun of bread which is hot and fresh out of the oven! The fish looks really good! I'll try that next time. Overall, a great place for take out!
Great place! The food is amazing. The restaurant is clean and spacious. The beef shish kabab is off the charts! Nice refreshing salad, rice and bread to go with it. You def get full for a small price. Very kind, giving and warm people there. Made it even more special was a free rice pudding as courtesy. It was out of this world delicious! :)
I'm desperate for dessert and after walk around the area I couldn't find any restaurant that has sweet stuff. I ended up coming here because I saw rice pudding and baklava in their shelf. They also have very strong espresso and I like it very much.
This restaurant is pricey just like most Turkish restaurants nowadays. The food tastes good, portion size is nice. I really liked the mixed appetizers more than their mixed grill. The mixed grill was extra salty and too greasy.
I've been here a few times in the past 3 years and I went today with my mother for lunch, and I was not dissapointed. We both ordered the lentil soup and chicken adana special and it definitely hit the spot. The soup was delicious and the kebab was cooked well and it was juicy. I just wish that they would update the interior of the restaurant. It looks very outdated and even a little run down in my opinion. It doesn't help that they have competition in the neighborhood, such as Istanbul Bay on 80th Street and Ay Kebab on 86th Street. Both of them also have renovated interiors and serve food that is up to par with Hazar. But if I'm being honest, the employees at Ay Kebab acted like they didn't want to be there the last time I ate there. Speaking of employee attitudes there was a cashier/waiter at Hazar that was extremely friendly and courteous so they have that over Ay Kebab. I haven't been to Istanbul Bay in Bay Ridge in over three years but I remember the workers being friendly and their lamb and rice tasting great. Sorry for rambling so much but my point is you should definitely give Hazar a try, especially if you're craving turkish food on a budget.
Delicious food however I’ve been ordering the catering for 6 people for the past 3 years and unfortunately this year not only did they higher the price they also made the portions way smaller which was disappointing because they were my go to for holidays/parties.
This place used to be my staple. I love their beef shish and lentil soup. For the past 2-3 months, their quality has been decreasing (taste, portion). I visited today and the beef had a very bad smell, the lentil soup was watered down. The place is no longer hygienic either. The restroom is nasty. It is unfit for a sit in restaurant to be in this condition. I hope Hazar gets back to the standard it set back in the day.
Lenti soup was good. However, manti was horrible and the place is very expensive for the experience and food. It was misleading because 18% gratuity was included but made it seem like it was not and had prompts for gratuity.
I used to love this place, but things have gone downhill. I ordered lamb diner and chicken adana entrees and cheese sigars. Everything was flavorless from the meat to the rice. The cigars had an odd bitter taste. Did not enjoy at all. Felt like a waste of money because we don't even want the leftovers. We just at some of it because we were fasting and hungry. Also, not sure who is at the register and answering phones but he seemed not to understand us at all. Told him we had an order, said he couldn't see it (I ordered on DoorDash). My sister went to pick up and he said the same thing that we didn't have an order. She tried to get help from anyone else, but no one was paying attention. When someone finally looked at the confirmation, they told the guy the order was ready and pointed to a bag already on the counter. I am most upset by the quality of food though. Sadly, not a repeat for me. I have yet to find a Turkish food spot to love in Bay Ridge, unfortunately. This place used to be it.
It’s ok it was basically $18(17.4xyz cash card is .90 something for what is the basically the same size as the food trucks I but my thing is I got chicken thigh personal peeve is meat fat which is why I opted for chicken but I mean considering your paying that much I guess dine in would serve it better good luck
Ordered a chicken shish kabob sandwich at 5:28PM and was told to wait 10 minutes. I go to my car for a minute then back inside to wait for my sandwich... A guy behind the counter calls me and hands me a paper bag with a sandwich in it and tells me here is your sandwich!!! It's been just couple minutes, how come the other guy told me to wait 10 minutes??? The bag is stapled, I feel what's inside it and it feels cold. I look at the receipt stapled to the bag and surprise! the sandwich they gave me was made at 3:39PM. I ask the guy to make sure that is my order and the guy says yes it's yours. Then I face him with the receipt showing the time 50 minutes before I made my order...!!! The guy's face changes color. No honesty!!!!! Returned the sandwich and never will come back here...
This is not a review on the food, but on their delivery and customer service. Waited over 90 minutes for delivery. Had to call the restaurant multiple times to find out what was going on. Delivery driver seemed unbothered by being late. Not only was the food cold, the order was incorrect. One sandwich was missing, and another was wrong. Restaurant offered to pick up the cold and incorrect order, take it back and send it again. I refused due to not wanting to wait another 90 minutes for delivery.
I'm beyond disappointed in how terrible this place has become. I've been coming to hazar for over 10 years... a loyal customer to the core until last night. I traveled all the way from jersey to introduce this place to my fiancé after speaking so highly of Hazar for months! We both ordered the mixed grill which is supposed to come with shish kabob, chicken kabob, adana, lamb AND chicken gyro, chicken chops, and kofta. We didn't get any shish kabobs nor did we get the lamb or chicken gyro...and nothing was mentioned upon serving us. I called the waitor over to express my concerns and was met with an insincere and bland apology about not mentioning that they were out of gyro and that he substituted it with chicken adana and a chicken chop. No word on the shish kabob though....I asked about the shredded and unseasoned lettuce and red cabbage that was served in place of a "salad", so he bought over a plate of diced tomato and cucumbers drowning in vinegar and oil as an apology. Fast forward to the check.... he brings out an old rice pudding (on the house) loaded with pistachio crumbs without asking if anyone has a nut allergy (the rice pudding comes standard without the nuts). As we were still sitting at our table, the proceed to turn off the lights and put their coats on WHILE WE HAVEN'T EVEN BEGAN TO START OUR DESSERT so we left the "complimentary" dessert and left!! I truly can't believe this place has become so low and distasteful in ever aspect. The meat was dry and bland, the rice was watery, the toilet in the bathroom had feces stains inside and around the bowl, and utterly disgusted and will NEVER be back again. Will be going to TRUVA in queens from now on for my Turkish fix!
Over priced bunch of crooks who add %25 service charge on the bill. We ordered 4 combos and asked to replace meat on one with lamb chops the guy said no problem and then adds $40 for 4 lamb chops. Plus full price for all platters. we paid over $300 for a lunch. The bill contained $100 in tax and service charge. Place is a rip off, will never recommend to anyone.
Ordered $75 worth of literally - inedible food. I can’t explain what it does to me to throw food in the trash but this was that bad. Every single dish.
The service is so nasty I never want to call this restaurant because they are never nice!!! And when I call once in a while I regret it most of the times. Food is ok, but isn't worth it if you get angry service 9 times out of 10... They had a Mexican guy there, he was the only nice one!, sometimes they have nice woman in there but everyone else is horrible!! Why would I give them my money??
Rude waitress and female cashier, the food was good but service was horrible. Edit 5/2023: The food is terrible, the quality has gone down. $12.95 for calamari and they gave like 15 really really tiny pieces. The food does not taste good, people who work there are super rude.
Sandwiches never represent Turkish name flavor. Counter lady was unique. Not worth to spend money. Their choice of price their choice to put the ingredients no smile pay the price & get out.
I ordered a gyro sandwich and told him well done and insisted on that and to be toasted and paid the money and less in a minute I found that the order is ready! It was weird but I went to eat it in the car and it was cold and not well done/full of salad instead of meet and taste terrible , so you should respect your customer requests when they ask for a specific thing , I’m not gonna eat on the way you DECIDE!!!
I am not sure about other platters they got but I tried the manti and it was bland. There was no meat and the sauce tasted awful, the meal was quite expensive. I am never returning to this place again. I dont recommend 0/10
The Adana Kebab is was not Adana Kebab, the hospitality was awful. As a Turkish family visiting, we were extremely disappointed with the service. After the meal we asked for the tea, the tea was cold. Lastly, they calculated the tip with the meal, which they did not deserve. I do not recommend this place at all!!!!
They changed the name to “Istanbul kebab”.. I used to visit every time I used to shop from balady supermarket.. today is the last day I’ve visited them. They have become very unhygienic. I found human hair on my hummus.. first I showed it the waitress who doesn’t understand English so she called her boss. When her boss came to my table I’ve tried to show him the hair.. but couldn’t see & top of that he called me a lair. So I referred him to the waitress & she lied as well. Since I’ve walked into the restaurant I didn’t have a good experience like before. Waitress doesn’t understand English & her boss is very rude. He was almost barking at me. I’ve been paying top dollar for the food & this is the last time I patronize them. Whoever is reading this review please save your health & money. There are 100 other Turkish restaurants around the Brooklyn & throughout the city. Try them.. this people are not recommended at all., they’re rude.. dirty., & pricy.
I waited for 4 small pieces of shashlik for an hour and a half. I ordered rice and they brought french fries. They didn't tell me in advance that there was no rice. They cook the food for a very long time. The young guy-waiter is very inattentive. I order food and he brings other food.
I have eaten here in the past, food was good. Today new staff took order, but never placed it in. I waited a long time. They told me later they forgot, and would make it to go. I came back to pick it up. Still waited. They offered me a soda while waiting (I thought was an apology). Then charged me for it at the end, I told the I wasn’t impressed, they said that’s too bad. Very disappointed, wasted an hour here and will not return.
This used to be a decent spot for consistent food, but this has gone severely downhill. The food is flavorless and simply overpriced. The lentil soup was watered down, the lamachun was soggy and flavorless, and the service was demanding a tip. I will never order from them ever again. This was a disgrace to Turkish cuisine.
