Best Mexican food in the neighborhood. The chilaquiles were amazing. Tacos, sopes and tostadas were great too.
Went for the food, stayed for the cat. Super playful and soft. -Cat will let you pick them up -Not bitey -Will perch on shoulder like parrot so you can be a bodega pirate -Is orange -Not scratchy Chorizo Quesadilla is OP
Very fresh tacos and great backyard patio in the neighborhood. I would come here again!
Excellent burritos and hot food in the back. One of the best burritos and guacamole in the city. The way they make it with the cheese…trust me you’ve never had it before. At least not in the area. Amazing flavors and textures. Order a bean and rice/veg burrito if you need to. You may need to explain it to them but they can do it.
This is a great place to order a lot of food from for parties. Buy a lot of tacos, chips and guacamole, and quesadillas and everyone will be happy. The carne asada, carnitas, and al pastor tacos all taste superb, but my favorite were the pollo asado tacos.

My fav local Mexican spot, great food, especially for the price! Family ran spot, they are all super friendly. More of a deli but they do have a backyard seating that is covered
Went yesterday for some tacos I’m going back today. The cook explained the menu to me and Made the tacos with flour tortilla cause that’s what I like. He was nice and quick. I got a slice of watermelon for $1. Very nice people very nice place I love it
I brought a breakfast burrito & it was one of the best I ever had. It’s a breakfast burrito with home fries, carne asada, refried beans, cheese, guacamole, pico de gallo & sour cream. & get extra sour and green sauce on the side trust me!
best Mexican food in Brooklyn and it’s owned by the nicest people! highly recommend! the chicken is out of this world, and the breakfast tacos are DELICIOUS!
Perfect burritos and tacos, really great store run by the nicest people. Great addition to the neighborhood! I've been 3 times in 3 days.
Very nice people + house burrito is one of the best I’ve had in new york
maybe the best barbacoa tacos I’ve ever had
my wife and I agree that this is one of the best tacos that we have had in NYC. Not to be dramatic but it's truly delicious food. it's now our favorite neighborhood spot! And the atmosphere is so chill and a great spot to get authentic Mexican ingredients. highly recommend
Let me share my experience at Mona Ayala, the Mexican food market and bodega that exceeded all my expectations! From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by how immaculately clean the store was – practically spotless, which I absolutely loved. Now, onto the food – and oh boy, it was pretty good! Their tacos, chicken and rice, and burritos were authentic Mexican flavors and they use fresh ingredients. But that's not all – Mona Ayala also offers a variety of fresh fruit, juices, and Mexican snacks.
Food excellent, delicious. Grocery store with deli, well shelved with both Hispanic and non Hispanic items. Price fair for the area. No place to sit inside. Two little tables outside shielded from wind by plastic curtain. Most people do carryout.

Burrito bowl was mostly rice and beans and not much else. Super disappointed.
The food is amazing but the customer service sucks the cook & the cashier always have attitudes if it wasn’t for this the store would be top-tier place!

So yesterday I walk in to this hole in the wall and walk to the back where the cooked food is served. I get rice, beans, and some roast pork. After the man makes the plate, I ask him how much. He says I have to pay in the front. As I'm walking to the front, a White woman walks in and is looking for something. As I am putting the food on the counter, she interrupts and ask the Latina lady, an older woman with glasses, the White lady asked her in English, do you have any sweet potatoes? The Latina lady responds no we don't. Then the White lady walks out. I then turn to the Latina lady and say, "Good afternoon". She ignores me and starts examining the plate of food. I repeat again, "Good afternoon". She looks at me confused. I say it again, "good afternoon". Still a bewildered look on her face. Finally, I say, "buenos tardes". She responds, "Oh, buenos tardes". So you understand english when a White woman speaks to you but not when a Black man speaks to you. Then she charged me $12 for the food and added an extra 48 cents when I used my debit card. If I wasn't hungry, I would have just walked out. Needless to say, I will never spend my money in that place again. Make of that what you will. I really don't care!!!!
I live in the neighborhood. My uncle is a longtime and upstanding business owner and real estate developer in the neighborhood and so I have always treated everyone in this area with a lot of kindness and respect. Tonight I walked into this store for a rice pudding because I was craving it. I was immediately followed and watched, and I knew right away I was being profiled because I was wearing a sweatsuit and looked dressed down. For a Latino owned business I find this unacceptable and I will never come back, and nor will my family.
Rude , horrible people. . I am their neighbor and they are so nasty to me I won’t ever go back
