This place always felt like home to me and my family. Whenever my mother would go to the hospital, we would always end up eating here to cheer ourselves up. It's a family owned business and this particular family always made myself and my family feel welcomed here. The food is great too.
Whenever I am in Park Slope I try to go to the Purity Diner. The food is always tasty, the prices are reasonable, and the service is fast. On Sundays they have a special brunch menu, which I highly recommend.
Even throughout the covid pandemic, Purity Diner is still exceptionally amazing!! The outdoor seating respects the social distancing rules, and their service is fast as well as extremely professional! Every single server I interacted with was polite and efficient! I will definitely be coming back here again
First time at Purity, had the turkey burger & it was the best I've ever had!! Will defintely be returning to try other items on the menu. Ms. Mata was the sweetest and most wonderful server I've ever had, made my night after a long stressful hospital visit with my aunt.
Excellent all around. They season their home fries, which is all I need to know. Their French toast is properly spiced. Details like these make all the difference! Good vibes and friendly staff.
I was there on Wednesday April 3, 2024, and incidentally was short in cash and the owner was very kind, attentive and hospitable. Because I was short on the bill, he gave me the bowl of soup on the house. Wonderful man & Nice diner with a nice and soothing ambience !
Purity Diner is my favorite spot to eat when I visit my family in Park Slope, which is a lot. We always go here. It will always have a special place in my heart and, of course, my stomach. The food is always delicious. I am never disappointed. I may be an adult, but I still love their chicken tenders and waffles. They're chocolate shakes are always tasty, too. You should definitely come here if you're in the area!
The food is always fresh and tasty. This is a regular spot for my husband and I. It's a great place for a quick bite and relaxing atmosphere. Price is pretty good too. We go for the lobster bisque and tuna melt.
Anytime I try out a new diner, I stick to the basic and go with the cheeseburger deluxe. If a place screws that up, I know not to come back. Happily, this was hands-down, one of the best diner burgers I've ever had. Simple, direct. Burger, bun, cheese, fresh lettuce and tomato, it was fantastic. Good amount of fries without being overloaded. Staff was super friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back.
Thank you for great service! We h here around 9:30 p.m. on Superbowl Sunday 2020 and the food was definitely worth the price and definitely was freshly made. had a late dinner that we normally wouldn't order at a diner but this was very very good we had eggplant parmesan with pasta mozzarella sticks and a salad but it was very good ! Definitely want to come back for breakfast and try their breakfast and lunch foods. The architect of the building is so great very old school New York Brooklyn and tin ceilings are very nice touch. Thank you guys for your service
Service fast and accurate as always! Been going there for 15 years- always glad with the food and service. My friends and I went there for Thanksgivings Brunch. It was 20 degrees that day. We ran a five Mile Turkey Trot then headed there for hot chicken soup and hot chocolate.
Exactly what you want from a neighborhood diner. The food is fresh and tasty, the service is fantastic, and the interior is well cared for. They were happy to serve us even as we came in 35 minutes before closing time. Looking forward to my next visit. Try the onion rings!
I've been in Park Slope since 1973, and Purity Diner was there before me! It's been a terrific diner all these years: fine diner food food; fast, excellent service; good prices; nice atmosphere (never too noisy); fun nostalgic decor; and great, colorful Fiesta Ware plates, cups, saucers, dishes and bowls...a blast from the 1940's and '50's. Terrific coffee, too, and refills are free. It's a great, inviting place to go for a leisurely brunch with friends, a quiet lunch over a good book, or just to grab a quick bite between whatever you're doing on 7th Avenue. Couldn't recommend it more highly!
A Park Slope classic. Solid, typical diner food, well done. Not totally cheap, but completely reasonable prices. All the classics are on the menus and we'll prepared. It's always a little busy, but I don't think I have ever had to wait for a table. Staff happy to let you sit and chat as long as you want, and will keep on refilling your coffee all day. Great classic diner. They don't really make them like this anymore.
I come here about once every two weeks. This is your friendly neighborhood diner. The food is always fresh and delicious. The service is always great. With so many diners in Park Slope, there's a reason I keep coming back to this one quite often.
The food is fresh and delicious and the male waiters are very personable. My favorite order is the chicken with scallions, mushrooms, sautéed broccoli , baked potato with butter and sour cream. Also a tall cup of ice or turkey and stuffing with the baked potato and salad. Mmmmmm, good.
Great attention from the front staff and the waiter. We were made comfortable and brought our delicious meals and drinks in a timely order. Highly recommend. Great atmosphere and decor. Family oriented place.
Great local diner for catching up with people for a late breakfast or brunch. I go every other week and the food is consistent. It gets busy on weekends but the staff clears tables efficiently.
There are a few diners in my neighborhood, and I gladly walk father to eat at Purity. The food is always fresh, and the service is always really attentive and kind. They make you feel like family! The energy is lovely. Not fancy. Warm and welcoming.
Great atmosphere. The service can be slightly better but overall good. The Food is always on point. Very delicious!
Nice dinner. Bright with tall ceilings. I brought friends there for brunch and they were very happy.
My first time here and i absolutely loved it. I came here for breakfast. I enjoyed a lovely mimosa, steak and eggs with home fries and toast. EVERYTHING WAS GOOD!.Service was very attentive as they should be.Carlos our server was awesome! I will be back to try something else from their breakfast menu along with the brunch and/or dinner... On point!
Nice and clean, courteous, good food, reasonably priced. Also, wheelchair accessible, meant alot to my brother who doesn't get out much.
Wonderful waiter. Bought a challah French toast and got every side I could with it. My friend got the steak and eggs. Everything was top notch, they listened to specific instructions, and everything came out quickly. The owner/manager was talkative and sweet. Felt homey and we were allowed to sit at a table where we could watch our bikes.
Staff was extremely welcoming and friendly. We were able to order exactly what we want, substituting in multi grain for normal bread was not a problem. Chicken sandwich (Italiano) was good as well as the pancakes (plenty of blueberries and covered the plate) and huevos rancheros. Timely service. Would go back for sure. We felt like they cared!
This is THE diner. It's not justgood, it's outstanding!! From the food, prices, and the incredibly courteous and kind service this is a place I look forward to eating at- it's a treat. The challah french toast is decadent and filling. The fruit is always fresh, the home fries are filling and flavorful. I've never had a bad meal here, and they'll even give you a coffee to go. This place is my favorite cozy comfy spot. Thank you for the great meals!
I absolutely love eating at Purity diner. The food is great! The atmosphere is family oriented. The customer service is outstanding!!!!
Food is always very good waitstaff are pretty much on their game
I’m so happy that this diner is still here despite the high cost of living around the city. This diner is a classic staple of old Brooklyn. I hope it stays for a very long time!
This place is great! If you’re look for generous and tasty portions this is your place. I ordered the Californian omelette and some sauces and they were to die for! My friend ordered a cesar salad with grilled chicken and it was very delicious. The Service was quick and on point. The vibe is like an authentic American diner.
I came for a quick lunch. Had a bacon cheeseburger w/ steak fries. It was delicious. I was very happy with my meal.
Great neighborhood diner. Friendly staff and cozy Brooklyn atmosphere
I like Purity, the brothers that run the place are friendly, and professional. They keep it moving and always have a pleasant attitude.
Classic diner, servicing the community for years, featuring excellent burgers. Fast, friendly service, tops it all.
The owners are great and attentive. The food is fresh and delicious.
Every time that I've eaten at the Purity Diner the food and the service has been excellent. Whether you are having breakfast, lunch, or dinner, the food holds up well. Think you will enjoy a meal here. There is an entrance on the side for the disabled.
First time at Purity Diner while visiting family member at the hospital. In finding somewhere to eat, walking distance we found Purity Diner. I got the spaghetti and meatballs with a side chickens noodle and it was delicious. My wife had the bacon cheeseburger deluxe and she said it was delicious too. I would recommend Purity Diner. Support local businesses. Diners are closing. Keep them open.
I have been going here most of my life and I'm late middle aged. I love it. The coffee is terrible the food is great. The people great. The mood perfect.
We love this place and always make the longish trip from Manhattan to eat here at least once per trip. Situated in the bustling and beautiful Park Slope neighborhood, the diner has super friendly service and delicious food done well, with very generous portions. Maybe a dollar or two more than some places but it's worth it.
We had breakfast & we order Challah French Toast (it was really good) & Steak with Eggs, everything tastes really good & fresh. All the ingredientes are good quality. Coffee was also good. Love the decor on the walls & the atmosphere. They have a lot of indoor seating. Also the staff are always friendly & helpful! Excellent service! I totally recommend it!
My mom took me here for my 24TH Birthday, the food was delicious & hot. The customer service here is truly amazing. They serve a lot of food. And the cup of fresh hot coffee they made a new batch for me & my mom the dessert is also delicious. We will definitely be coming back to this amazing diner. The staffs here makes you feel like you’re at home. ✨🫶🏻
Finally got a chance to try this local diner and after a slight blip at the start we had a wonderful meal. Came in wanting to have some Belgian waffles but unfortunately the Waffle machine was not working, I don’t know how that happens in a busy diner, you should have more than just one machine. No problem though, I went with pankakes instead and was not disappointed, they came out hot and fluffy with plenty of butter and syrup. We also had a BLT and a chicken sandwich which were all prepared perfectly and served with hot tasty french fries. The service here was flawless and we loved the old time decor. Will definitely be coming back.
I was in Park Slope and passed this place so decided to give it a try. It’s so cozy and the owners were very warm and welcoming. l ordered the decadent Challah French Toast with bananas and it was delish! The menu offers lots of variety so I would definitely come back to try some other things!
It's a decent diner. Nothing special but they do have super good service. The staff is way better then the food. To the staff, Thanks for always treating me so well when I'm there. Purity Diner is one of my favorites in Brooklyn just for the service.
A group of 7 stopped in for a late Tuesday afternoon lunch after a business meeting. Very good food. Accommodating staff. Love the decor, especially the older bikes. Won't be in the area often but would definitely return.
This spot has been here for years. Food is high quality fare as you would expect at a diner and prices are still very reasonable considering what other places charge in this area. We were a party of six, sat us immediately Saturday at noon. Great service too. I always get Swiss cheese fries with gravy on the side each time I come here and their vanilla milkshake is what my sister always orders.
I recently dined here and was pleasantly surprised. A very typical diner atmosphere with nice staff. The food was just what I was expecting - eggs, toast, hashbrowns! The day I ate here I was needing to join a conference call for work, so I made sure the wait staff knew as I was being seated. Our waitress was great - she made sure to check back and take my order before the time my call began so I wouldn't be interrupted. My coffee cup was kept full the entire time!
Let's see... According to my journal, it was November, so I must have had either the eggplant parmigiana or the open-faced turkey plate. It was good, I remember that much. I plan on coming back the next time I visit hometown Brooklyn. Oh yeah, sorry, but it was 1996. ;-)
It's a nice, clean comfortable diner. The wait staff is very attentive and the food is good. You won't be disappointed and it's 1 block from B&N, across from Methodist hospital. It's been in the neighborhood for more than 75 years.
Super friendly staff. Very accommodating to groups who ask for separate checks or folks who want to linger with just a cup of tea. Food is basic diner, but fresh and well-prepared. You can change up the order any way you want and they just smile.
It’s a classic diner in Brooklyn atmosphere . Service was great. Food was good: tried pancakes and lox bagel Atw. Food was Fairly priced but not memorable. Decor style is local signage and bicycle on upper walls. Mixed color plates/ coffee cups is also the style.
Classic old school diner experience. Place has charm, cozy booths, welcoming service, bottomless coffee and a menu that's far too many pages than it needs to be. Has the whole gamut of classic breakfast and lunch options and the food is pretty solid, though not fantastic. The people are friendly and the service is quick. All in all solid diner.
Was your typical diner feel, service was wonderful but I do think they should make the portions of their breakfast dishes a little bigger, very small in comparison to other diners I've been to. Their outdoor dining area is so nice, what a fabulous job whomever did it ! Definitely didn't feel as if you were in the streets.. Real plants, flowers & huge umbrellas made for a nice breakfast in the rain...
Ate here after work from the hospital nearby. Cool little spot- Atmosphere has its own charm. Food is properly sized for the price.
This long standing diner has served Park Slope's Methodist Hospital and residents for years. The food is consistently good, and the service is fast & friendly! My Dad and I had brunch which included tea, coffee, ginormous French Toast and a beautiful Belgin Waffle. If it ain't broke, don't fix it😉
Oh my this cute little diner was fantastic. Great place to grab a nice lunch...we went there after visiting a family member at New York Presbyterian Brooklyn hospital. I loved their crunchy onion rings and my chicken salad triple Decker ...my spouse had chicken sandwich (ask for mayo) w/fries. Overall a wonderful lunch date and food. You sit yourself. Bathrooms are clean, wait staff are professional and pleasant. First time there. If we ever get to go to the hospital...we will stop by again. Parking is terrible... well it's NY... parking in NY sucks
Went here with my parents who were visiting from out of state and staying nearby. The great: the gyro platter was one of the best gyros I’ve ever tasted. It was like they carved it and then fried the meat again—super crispy. The lentil soup was also great. Their fries were also good. It is weird but their fountain seltzer was also the best seltzer I’ve ever tasted that wasn’t Topo Chico pre 2010. The decor is also amazing! The service is also excellent. The good: the prices ! The gyro platter was the most expensive dish we got and it was like 17 dollars. For two sandwiches, gyro platter, soup, and two fountain drinks it was a little over 50 dollars. The not so good: the tuna melt was pretty mid (as the youngs say) because it had too much tuna salad and was cooked and served open faced which made it more like two slices of toasted bread with room temp tuna salad and melted cheese on top. Cooked in a broiler. It wasn’t terrible but I would have ordered something else if I knew it wasn’t going to be a sandwich. The bad: the corned beef sandwich was not good. It was super cheap (like 8 dollars) so that’s a plus. In conclusion: it is a diner so the menu is ten pages long and you are always rolling the dice. Overall it was MUCH more good than bad and I’m definitely going back. In fact, my mom wants to go back tomorrow for breakfast.
Decent! You will leave happy if you don't come with high expectations. Nice, local diner with booths and a good crowd. Seat yourself, not too crowded, straightforward menu with affordable food. Caveat- Coffee mugs could be bigger, so expect to wait for refills, but waitstaff is attentive, nbd.
Friendly staff and a great atmosphere. This place has a genuine neighborhood feel the clientele are loyal and engaged. The food, however, is generally unremarkable, even bland, yet expensive; not a good value for money.
I've been dining here frequently for the past 5 years. The wait after you order is typically long, even on days when there are few customers. It's not really an issue for me since I expect it and usually come for quality time lunch or dinners with family but I don't bring my kids here when they're really hungry and don't visit if I have someplace else to be. The food can be hit or miss but is definitely consistent so if you find something you like, stick with it. The friendly staff and convenient location are what really keep us coming back.
Waiter (manager) miscommunicated my order to the kitchen and made excuses, was defensive, and offered no apology.
Reminiscent of older American diners. I was looking for “Little Purity” diner, but came across this place first. The prices were reasonable, I guess, based on the area. The food was pretty plain, no frills. I ordered an omelette, it came season-less. I had to drown it in ketchup and hot sauce. The buttered toast was very flavorful. The service was on par, very nice and efficient. Would I come back? No it’s a little too plain. I would recommend for those seeking no-frills dining experience and food.
Food was drab. My cup of noodle soup had no seasoning. My sister in law's pancakes were undercooked & the cook put her ham underneath the pancakes with too overcooked eggs on top. She sent it back & got another meal. My husband's omelette & potatoes were good though. The diner itself is cute & cosy, but the food is hit or miss. $170 for 7 people. We were at the hospital visiting a loved one, but should have eaten at 5 Guys.
We were seated near the kitchen, where the constant clatter of dishes made it hard to enjoy the meal. The same server repeatedly bumped into my chair while passing. The food was average — eggs were fine, but the chicken sausage was dry, the pre-buttered bread needed more butter, and the strawberry jam was watery. Overall, a mediocre experience. Too bad Park Slope lacks solid sit-down breakfast options.
I gave this place rave reviews 4 years ago, but that was then. Things have really changed! They managed to mess up a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich. Almost no bacon, and I asked for 1 egg, so you'd think they would know that I'd notice how cheap they were with the other ingredients. One slice of cheese, unmelted on an old roll. They added tomatoes as a filler even though I never asked for them. Even the coffee seemed like a cheaper version of what they used to serve. I definitely wouldn't go back and pay those high prices, especially with so many choices around here.
Adding eggs to an order of pancakes went up $4 since the last menu photos. It was not bad but for $10 less I would’ve went to the diner down the block if I knew the prices had been raised.
Tiny spot. The manager was so busy that he couldn't even let us know when to be seated,so we went upon ourselves and sat down. One waiter seemed to have an attitude when looking at my toddler. It's also very expensive. Our friend ordered a burrito, and it was 14$, but it looked like a small breakfast wrap .it's was the tiniest burrito I've ever seen. My man didn't feel the quantity was enough for how much he spent. He said the bacon and sausages were so tiny. He said that the meal wasn't nearly filling enough ,he could have eaten two more plates. Usually going out to a diner and he orders breakfast meals, it's bigger portions .the sausages are a lot bigger, and the bacon is big. So, for him to see what they served, it was a huge surprise. It was sized for children. Anyway, it was our first time being there. The vibe there wasn't too great ,it seemed the people who work there hate their jobs ,they weren't attentive at all. But they were left with a large tip regardless , but i can't really say it was deserved, but given in hopes they do better .
Ordered three eggs omelette with spinach. The dish was absolutely tasteless. Seemed that I ate paper. Fried potatoes were also prepared without soul. I think the chef had a bad mood that day))
Purity Doner left us with mixed feelings. On Sundays, the kitchen closes at 3 PM—an hour earlier than the restaurant—and we felt rushed to order multiple times, which set an uncomfortable tone for the visit. Even for a diner, the menu felt overwhelmingly long, with far too many options. We tried the Grilled Chicken Oriental, which was described as a teriyaki sandwich, and the Gyro Platter. Unfortunately, the chicken sandwich didn’t include any teriyaki sauce as advertised. However, the two large grilled chicken breasts were well-cooked and flavorful, served on a burger bun. The accompanying thick-cut French fries were a highlight, made with quality potatoes and cooked just right. The Gyro Platter, on the other hand, was a complete disappointment. The beef slices resembled a strange mix of breakfast sausage and spam, and the flavor and texture were unappetizing. It left me feeling sick for hours afterward. Service was average, and for $25 per person, I expected much better overall quality. While some elements of the meal were enjoyable, the experience as a whole fell short. I wouldn’t rush back anytime soon.
Checked it out since it’s next-door to the hospital. While diners do provide a specific vibe and experience, this one just feels very outdated without any avenue of compensation. Food is over priced without being anything particularly special. The decor and ambience is old (look at the TV!). I mean, if you’re looking for a place to sit in a booth- sure order some fries, but not much to seek out beyond that.
The manager at the Purity Restaurant is bitterly angry and is not a people’s person. After ordering an omelette, took one fork full and it had no flavor. I told the waiter that I was t happy with the omelette and she got the manager. I told him the same. He said I ordered it so and I could order a different one but I would have to pay for both. I asked for another menu that was never bought to me. 10 minutes later my toast came. I aid to the mana get that I was really unhappy with my breakfast. He seemed more concerned about the corn beard that he made last night. He said” I made the corn beef myself so I know it’s goo”. I asked did you make the omelette and emphasized that it was t about the corn beef but more about no flavor in the omelette. He argued with me loudly reiterating that he made the corn beef and as much I I tried to explain that I was not question that his corn beef was good or not he got louder and louder. He snatched the plates from the table and asked us to leave. Never ever will I go to Purity Restaurant again. If I could give it a zero I would.
Roast beef wasn't good. I should have returned it. The baked potato was excellent!!!! I'm sure it was just a fluke. I've heard breakfast is excellent!! My IPA bottled beer gave me a nice buzz. I'll be back. Just don't think I'll order the roast beef!
Made my daughter pay for a meal that she is deathly allergic to ( anaphylaxis) Even though you guys didn't bother to tell her that the food is all cooked in the same environment. Then made her pay instead of addressing their wrong doing the manager got aggressive and immediately made her pay, didn't bother to ask if she is OK after consuming some of the meal, just pay . By the way she is In the e.r. as I post this
Terribly rude host. I arrived before my friend and asked for a table for two. He refused to give me a table claiming that they were almost full (I could see at least 6 empty tables for two). I waited a little, asked again if I could sit and order a coffee, which he would have let me do if I had been dining alone in the first place! He refused to let me sit saying he cannot let me “occupy” a table. Is that how you welcome people here? I’m never ever coming back.
Servers are very friendly. Food is terrible. So bland. Omelette was dry and tasteless. The rest of the offering was greasy. Would not recommended for food but maybe for atmosphere and a coffee.
As I was trying to order the manage interrupted to take 2 phone orders as I stood there waiting. After using the restroom I sat in a booth to get some work done and expected to eat. He walked past me and did not mention that because I ordered at the counter my meal had to be to go. After waiting 13 minutes for a tuna salad sandwich he alerted me that it was ready at the counter and replied with frustration when I asked to have it to stay which would've caused him to place the sandwich on a plate. I paid the $9.75 and gave the good away to someone in need sitting outside. Will definitely not return.
I came here with high expectations! However, the service that day with one particular waiter was quite disappointing. He kept rushing us to order and made very passive aggressive behaviors towards my physician friends, making faces towards them when they told him they needed more time to order, etc. It's pretty sad treating customers like that tbh. Keep an open mind. I noticed every thing. Other than that, the food was pretty good.
HORRIBLE breakfast experience thanks to the owner at the 7th Ave Purita diner, who does not allow the customers to move to a different table once customers are seated! He said “ Once you’ve a seat my policy is that you can’t not move to a another table , I don’t care if you are not comfortable, my restaurant my rules.” I was in shock I couldn’t believe it. All I wanted was a table not by the counter near the door where people were going in and out, and the workers were moving around to attend other customers! The owner is extremely arrogant, rude first impressions are important and that was a horrible experience for me. I left didn’t drink my tea, didn’t get to order, but I paid for the tea!
I work with an Autistic child and they refused to serve us because of his behaviors. Obviously this was discrimination because he was in no way harming himself or others, yet they still said that we wouldn’t be able to be served. I’m extremely disappointed in this place because I’ve been coming here for over 10 years but I will never give them my business again. The restaurant was not crowded (besides us there was only four other people there) and no one seemed to have an issue with him besides the manager who kicked us out. The child I work with loves diners and was excited to try this place and he should not have been treated differently than other customers just because he has a disability. Never coming back again.
