Food was delicious! Best tacos ever. Open until 5 am which makes it perfect for a bite to eat after a night at the bar. Great service. Definitely going back.
This is the best restaurant in Greenpoint. The staff works their tail off for every single order. When I need food I can rely on, they always come through. The staff are the nicest people. They make the neighborhood. Thank you for everything!
In my opinion, this is some of the best Mexican food in New York. Plus, it’s one of the only spots in Greenpoint open super late, so it’s probably the best late-night option in the neighborhood. Try the Plato Al Pastor. Prices are great too.
It should be illegal for this place to have one star. Best burrito I’ve had not only in New York but also my 18 years in New Mexico. Family owned small business that just expanded into the barber shop next door. Deserves every cent you pay.
Excellent food and service at a great price point and open late. Not health food, not meant to be. Would prioritize the tres leches over flan if you are ordering dessert…
Best Mexican for the price in the neighborhood. If you want fancier there's other options but this is classic NYC Mexican food at the right price. One of the few late night restaurants in Greenpoint as well.
Absolutely the best, not only Mexican spot but food spot over all in Greenpoint. Super friendly staff food is super quick and? Extremely tasty. Wouldn't trade it for anything.
Very nice, the tacos were delicious 😋, and even though they were busy with their delivery orders my food was served quickly! It was super affordable, I feel very happy with my taquito de lengua and spicy pork. Thank you 🙏🙌😁
If you want the closest to authentic Mexican food this is one of the places to go. All the food is always fresh. The staff is pleasant. Overall excellent!!
Probably my favorite late night guilty pleasure in GP. Get the taco de tinga at least once for the sauce. Everything is good here! They also expanded the space recently which I was happy to see.
The fajitas are amazing and they have big portion sizes. Amazing hot sauce selection and great prices
Had a meal with some friends and not only was the food good (I've been looking for a better than mediocre taco for a while) but the service is actually excellent (all the staff were great) and the prices are phenomenal.
Great food, open late and delivery is open late too. The portions are large and the prices are basically half the price of other places. Whenever I get my delivery it comes superfast and is really hot. Also when I dine in the food comes out fast. Love this place!!
Amazing food. Had the chicken enchilada platter and could not finish despite how much I wanted to. Cool atmosphere but small restaurant so keep that in mind if you are going during peak hours. Daughter had the burger and loved it. Nachos put most other nachos to shame. No regrets...will go back
A hidden gem for Mexican food. We usually get the vegetarian burrito, chalupas and sopes. The tacos are also very tasty. It’s also vegan friendly (you can ask for no sour cream, no cheese - and they’re generally accommodating for any item changes) It’s always open (til 4 am) they don’t rush to kick us out, and it’s spacious. Sometimes they’ve had a Spanish soap opera playing on a tv, other times they’ve had loud Hispanic music blaring (if it’s too loud, they turn it down for us), so it’s a fun vibe. The people running the place are also really nice, the food comes quickly, is delicious, and reasonably priced somehow
FOOD IS SOO GOOOD AND PORTION IS HUGE! SUPER AFFORDABLE!! I WOULD DEFINITELY COME BACK HERE. SERVICE WAS GREAT AS WELL!! I had some left overs and even ate all of it the next day!! so gooooooddd!
One of the best tacos I ever had
Really delicious tacos!! I forgot to take photos because they were so tasty. I got the tinga tacos. The guacamole wasn’t great, I would skip. The tacos are an amazing highlight! I got takeout and ate them after I got home, around an hour later and they were still perfect to eat.
I have been coming to this place since I moved to greenpoint. All the people that work in this place are amazing and the food is authentically Mexican! My fav is the corn on the cob, the quesadillas with Oaxaca cheese and their fresh made waters like Jamaica & horchata! Best place to get your midnight taquitos!
This place is one of my favorite taquerias. They're super affordable and delicious. I try not to swing by that often as I'm in the area it's in 3 days a week but I make a point to go every 2 weeks or so. I would highly recommend it, my friend and I went the other day and it was $24 with tax/tip for both our meals.
I love them. Not expensive, the food is really good. It is not a fancy Mexican restaurant but is clean and has a good environment. They are making renovations too.
I mean this is one of my favorite eateries in the neighborhood. I order from here at least 2 or 3 times a week. It is so inexpensive plus very very generous portion sizes. I have had the nachos, tostadas, and chicken platter. They were all flavorful and done well. They also are very prompt with the food. I am never waiting long wondering when am I gonna eat. Plus open very very late so you dont have to starve or only eat pizza at 1am.
La Norteña is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the neighborhood by a mile, and the only one my snobby "there's no good Mexican food on the East Coast" California friends keep asking to come back to. The food is delicious and beyond affordable, and the staff is friendly and attentive. Delivery is always on time (if not early).
Love this place for two reasons. 1. Food is amazing/ taste and portions 2. price is great, huge plates for less than 14 Service needs a little work though, not the friendliest people at the counter
I was thrilled to see Tacos Arabes on the menu, and it didn't disappoint! The lamb was so flavorful and the tortilla density starts to venture into pita territory without being too thick. Really hit the mark!
A long standing establishment serving up delicious, Mexican eats, fast. Their friendly staff, and look my hours make it a favorite for post bar vittles in Greenpoint. Never had a bad meal here.
Ohhh yes. One of the best local authentic Mexican restaurants in the north Brooklyn area, these guys are my go-to when we need a quick fix. Their al pastor burrito is a dream and they really load it up with meat and all the fillings. They also don’t skimp on rice and beans. Also highly recommend the enchiladas, love the red and green sauce combo. These guys are legit and the price is right. They also have outdoor dining, and are open late till 4am. What’s not to love??
Best local establishment for years. Such a standby. The nachos are always killer, same for the tostadas. Great prices. Delicious. And dependable. Thanks La Norteña!
Best neighborhood spot! So affordable. The veggie tacos and nachos are amazing and have a lot of veggies on it. Actually healthy and not overly drowned in cheese. The Jamaica Agua Fresca is so good and not too sweet which I love and is hard to find. They play awesome music and my friends and I had a dance party at 2am. The staff are so friendly and awesome. Long live taqueria la norteña!
I strolled in for a late night bite. Ordered my burrito (~$10.50) and handed the server a $10 bill. I was preparing to hand him a few more bucks when he handed me back change. Confused, I told him I gave him a 10. He corrected me. Turns out I had handed him a 20. While I waited, they gave me some chips and salsa and encouraged me to chill and enjoy the chips even when my food was ready. I watched a round of boxing on the TV with some friendly folks then went on my way. The burrito was huge, delicious, and came with a side of rice and beans. Super honest service, great food, and friendly atmosphere. I’ll certainly be back.
Best Mexican food in the area for a really great price! Staff is super chill and nice - they served me chips and salsa while I waited for my takeout order even though I wasn’t dining in! I always get their huge and delicious tinga burrito ($9.99 plus rice and beans! Can’t beat that deal), but I’ve had plenty of their other menu items and they’re all excellent. Come here!
I love this place. Hands down a great option late night but more than that the the staff is absolutely caring and sweet. The food is exactly what you need. They are always generous and kind. Do what you want but if your actually want to support a small business that cares about people you should be here.
I just had the most amazing meal at this restaurant!!! The service was top notch — my waitress was so attentive and friendly that it honestly made my night! —, the food (quesadillas de pollo with rice and beans) was awesome, and the vibes were immaculate! I heard a mix of Norteña music and Romeo Santos coming from the speakers overhead, which made me happy! The amount of food I got for the price I paid was also very reasonable. I’m so happy that I stumbled upon this place tonight, and I highly recommend it! :)
Great for late night tacos if you’re drunk
The best Mexican authentic food in Brooklyn. They treat you like family. Family opened business. I absolutely love their torta al pastor! Always with extra jalapeños and don’t forget your jarritos if you don’t know what it is! Staff is amazing and the owner gives the best customer service to EVERYONE. I will come back every single time I’m craving Mexican food!
The people who work here are very nice, the portions are large, and the food is always good. I've had a pretty good variety over the years and never had anything I regretted. Additionally, the prices are more than fair and they are open extremely late so it's great after the bar or a late night shift.
I love this place the food and prices are so worth it they serve free chips and salsa and guacamole your meal comes with a side of fries freshly made salad or rice and beans regardless your meal the prices blew my mind as it reminded me of old Williamsburg with low prices and the atmosphere is so quiet and yet personalable it's a two door two space area very large and the service is very nice they greeted us at the door excitedly.
This place is great, total neighborhood gem chill vibes and great food. Prices are great as well.
I visited La Norteña and tried their tacos, and I was blown away by the new hand-made tortillas! They’re fresh, soft, and make the tacos taste incredible. The birria was also amazing—juicy and full of flavor. The service was great, and the atmosphere was super cozy. Definitely coming back for more authentic Mexican food!
i was in uber eats hell tonight and the folks at taqueria were so communicative and helpful in figuring it all out. 0 stars for uber eats, 5 stars for taqueria. we love your food!
Extraordinary food and service!! To all the late night people out there, they are open until 4am on Fridays and Saturdays with a bar.
Owners and staff were amazing! Some of the best tacos, guac, AND salsa I’ve had (and I’ve had a lot lol). We had the carne asada tacos and my partner had the fish tacos. We both ordered passion fruit margaritas, which tasted fantastic. I got a tajin rim on mine and the tajin itself was the best tajin I’ve ever had. 10/10. You should go.
Just moved to the area and I winged it and ordered here and it did not disappoint. I got the quesadilla de bistec and Tacos de carne asada and it was 10/10!! So delicious. We paid $29 along with a can of soda and a salad. Definitely worth it!!
The Birria tacos are my absolute favorite! I've been going to this restaurant for years and truly, it's the best authentic Mexican food I've ever had! Always great for late night eats!
5 stars because of the closing hours !! It is open until 4 am so if you come out of a club and you are hungry, its the best place to have a snack. Plus, I’ve got to say, after going several times in Mexico, it is one of the few places in New York that looks like the most as a real taqueria. The service is good and the food is really great value. I would definitely recommend.
Love this place! Come here regularly after medieval combat practice in McCarren Park during warmer months. This place is open late and has an excellent selection of tacos including fish, lengua (beef tongue,) carne asada, etc and other Mexican staples. Try their horchata or a margarita.
Love this place. Tacos are authentic. Flavorful. The service is good. They have latin music playing. A little dim but that’s a matter of preference. I took a picture after eating 2 tacos. I had a total of 4. 2- Chorizo (my recommendation) 1- Carnitas 1- Lengua The tacos were all full of meat so you’re getting your money’s worth of food.
I like this place for a late night snack or sometimes a late night craving where I pound down a whole meal. Lots of options and lots traditional Dishes. They have a seating area if you want to dine in and catch a flick on the tv ; they had a crazy piranha movie on the one night 🤣 Mexican coke to top it off. Go enjoy some nice food.
Good Mexican food for NYC standards. It’s actually better than most Mexican food in NYC, which tends to be a disappointment. Decent prices and good service. The torta in particular was a standout. They provide customers with free chips and salsa which is always a nice gesture. Very fast service. Bathroom was very clean which is appreciated.
I stumbled into this restaurant unplanned but I’m really glad I did. La Nortena has to be one of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve ever been to. I got the chicken enchiladas, Les treches, and a horchata- everything exceeded my expectations. The portion sizes are huge and prices are on the lower side. The service made the experience especially enjoyable. Our waiter regularly checked up on us to refill water, bring out sauces and he even split the bill individually for my whole party of about 10 people.
NEW UPDATE: There’s no reason to order from anywhere else in Brooklyn, even for non Mexican food!!!! No joke!!! Had the Sopes n they were AWESOME!!! Big surprise? NOT!! This place is great!!! The fish is great, Sopes were great, tacos, u name it!!! UPDATE: Was craving a burger n I thought lemme try La Nortena because my burger place was closed. I had a hypothesis that since EVERYTHING I’ve had from them so far was so good n prepared so carefully n thoughtfully...I figured hmmm I’ll try their burger. If they can make legit Mexican food, they can DEF make a burger, right? I went for it n it was AWESOME BACON CHEESE BURGER !!!!!! OMG!!!! I even asked for all kinds of specific details n extra requests because I’m a food fanatic n former professional chef n I take good of all types very seriously n like my stuff prepared in very specific ways. They got every single request I made 100% correct. For me that goes a long way. I hate when my food is wrong or bad but at this place it’s felt like every meal coulda been made by my mother or father or brother or sister or best friend. How many places can u say that about? Their prices r also really reasonable. I’d eat every meal from this spot lol. I luv this place because I used to have legit Mexican food in my old neighborhood but not here in my new one. This place delivers to my area tho n is fully legit!!! It’s not BS Mexican food for ppl who don’t know any better. I had the Mojarra Frita 3 times last week lol. I haven’t tried the Sopes yet but that will be next or perhaps huaraches
Atmosphere needs to improve as well as the overall design and functionality of the better flow of the operation kitchen should be in the rear of the place with a counter bar at the rear facing the dinners and guests two or three servers and a busboy would give the place a more professional and upbeat flow. It may just give the place a 5 &4 stars more often.
Giant fishbowl margaritas for dirt cheap and it's a Poppin neighborhood. Just be prepared to wait 40 mins for your food so get mad liquor. I always have a habit of running into people I know here and I ran into friends of this one girl I have a crush on and they were enjoying the nightlife there too. Definitely a vibe.
Pretty authentic Mexican restaurant, but the fish tacos were so plain & lacked flavor. The shrimp tacos were better, and their hot on the side sauce helps. Great service and price point, though.
Went there with a friend to get two elotes and a horchata. The horchata was okay, could’ve been creamier. Corn was satisfying. Initially when we ordered I saw them prepare the corn right away. However the cashier asked us to sit and wait for our order. I assumed that maybe the corn that was prepared was for another customer. However, after waiting what felt like an unnecessary long time for corn I checked back with the cashier (who was eating dinner) on the status. He then proceeded to tell me that the corn was ready and to give them two more mins. That two mins was just another employee putting it into a bag. The same corn I had seen prepared and assumed it was maybe for someone else. Very weird.
It’s alright, it’s open late, and it’s fairly authentic Mexican but it’s not great...very dry tacos with two corn tortillas that are not fresh. They need some sour cream or gauc, they skimp with toppings and gave me no salsa or hot sauce with my to go order even though I specifically asked. Beans and rice lacking flavor a bit too...which is why it needs hot sauce or some other sauce. Put cucumbers on the taco instead of pico de Gallo? Cheap though and one of only options in greenpoint
Food is usually good. But they have a big issue taking down orders and listening. Whether you tell them in spanish or English they still mess something up in an order. If I order 3 dinner plates it's says each one comes with a hot sauce. Instead we only get 1 green and 1 red. If we ask them only green and the right amount we should get it never happens. Chickhen Milanesa plates come with Tortillas on the side. Every other time I order they forget them. Their food is good- its just disappointing to not get what I paid for
Ordered delivery last night. The tinga nachos were excellent 5/5. My fajitas were not good. Overcooked to hell and dry, yet no charring? The 2 of 3 shrimp were not devained and full of poop 0/5. The burrito was ok at best 2/5.
Food is typically lovely, but not tonight - steak fajitas inedible unfortunately. Bad cut of meat, fatty and tough. Hopefully this is a one off, as generally quite nice and good priced. While bad food is a once off; their delivery service is sub par. Can’t seem to find basic address and argumentative when they call.
The rice and beans component of the dish proved to be the most disappointing element, with an imbalanced ratio of approximately 3/4 beans to 1/4 rice, rendering the quantity of rice overwhelming and impractical. This imbalance was exacerbated by the lack of utility for such an excess of rice, leading to a sense of dissatisfaction and inconvenience. The presentation of such an imbalanced proportion is regrettable, as it detracted from the overall dining experience. Regarding the torta, while the flavor was acceptable, the texture of the bread was compromised by staleness, detracting from the enjoyment of the dish. Additionally, the al pastor meat exhibited an unexpected chewiness, deviating from the anticipated tenderness associated with this preparation. Despite these shortcomings, the highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the tres leches dessert, characterized by its exceptional moistness and delectable flavor profile, standing out as one of the finest renditions of tres leches encountered. Regrettably, the disparity between the quality of the dessert and the main courses was notable, underscoring missed opportunities for culinary excellence.
The food is very underwhelming and kind of odd. I’m not going to judge on authenticity because there’s a wide range of Mexican cooking styles but the food was bland and poorly prepared: think stale and unsalted chips, quesadillas with just warmed tortillas instead of grilled, cold chunks of pineapple on the tacos al pastor, watery beans and strangely orange rice without that classic taste Mexican rice usually has. The service was nice and they are open very late which is probably why it is so popular but otherwise I don’t see why I would return if other places are open.
Uh oh. I workout at the nearby gym and would go to Norteña for my late night food fix. Went yesterday and my goodness, the burrito size shrunk. So disappointed. It caught me by surprise. The guacamole definitely needs salt as well. And this morning, I’m in the toilet.
I hate knocking down a local business but this place is not it for me. The food is really sub par. I've only ordered the vegetarian items here like the cheese quesadilla, rice, beans but only because the first time i came here, my friend's taco had hair in it. Since then, I try to stay on the side of super plain things here. The cheese quesadilla is not two large tortillas pressing cheese together. It's three small taco tortilla with cheese, which is a little interesting, and not in a good way. They give free chips/salsa but the salsa is pretty weak. The silverware is not clean here and usually smells. Presentation is not that great.
I don't know what's happened here. My sense is they're so focused on a huge take out biz that no one is focusing on customers who come in to dine. My burrito was smaller and barely warm. No music playing. Really needs a manager to come in and finish the expansion, making it a true sit down restaurant. Cause right now I don't want to eat in there again. Hopefully it changes this spring.
Ordered food, missed the call from the delivery man, and instead of leaving the food at the door they took it back, and then yelled at me when I called to inquire about the status. Reason given for taking the food back was that it was raining, even though my front door has an awning to protect deliveries from the rain. Very rude and frankly stupid staff.
Ordered the Chimichanga, which was average at best(not sure why I attempted to eating the food after watching the kitchen). The kitchen hygiene was very concerning. I watched the griller grab multiple raw chicken breast from the container that's under the grill, unsure if its refrigerated or just room temp all day, throws it on the grill and then goes back to touching everything else in the kitchen without even changing gloves or washing hands. Later(while still waiting quite awhile for my food), watched him apply talcum powder to his hands before putting new gloves on directly next to peoples food being prepared. And just sits the container of powder on the food prep surface with all other foods.
Nothing special here I payed $10 dollars for a Torta de Carne asada and it was really small on a Roll sized bread (not hero size) and I was still hungry, I had to go to the food truck 2 blocks down Manhattan Ave. and buy two tacos in order to make up for my hunger deficit.
I always give this restaurant a try but they seriously have the worst food ever .. their quesadillas are not even even authentic Mexican quesadillas .. the tortilla was not even fully cooked i coulda just made them at home .. their agua de horchata horrible .. tastes like ice super expensive better off getting from the taco truck by greenpoint 8$ or tacos from the truck around the park way much better worth the price.
The staff here has a bad attitude and so does delivery person he always has a nasty look on his face. It’s unpleasant atmosphere in person as well. The food is hit/miss and sometimes you will find random items in your food that are unsanitary. I guess thats there bonus. Definitely finding a new place.
beware!!!! Stay away from this place if you’re in an interracial relationship. I (black) went there with my girlfriend whose ( light skinned) Brazilian to try some mexican food. We were disgusted by the treatment we received there. Waitress looked angry at us for no apparent reason, she didn’t greeted us nor offered water. In fact even to take our order was a problem. We literally sat there for 8-10 min and i had to raise my hand numerous times in order for her to approach us. The food was alright but what’s an alright food served with a nasty attitude???? I let you answer that. I left miss nasty waitress a note telling her to greet her customers next time with $0 tip because that’s just what she deserved!!! My girlfriend hated the place and rushed me to leave. We’ll never go back there again
There’s this one girl who always seems to have a huge attitude problem & seems to always be bothered by anyone. Why are you working here if you don’t like it? Secondly the food here? Did the management change or the cooks? Doesn’t taste like how it used to be. It’s always the worst when it’s your own kind.
Staff is rude… delivery people are atrocious and have no respect for the customer. I will stop ordering from here immediately they don’t deserve my business. Despite contacting them several times about their horrible delivery personnel they allow it to continue and then have the nerve to accuse you of being wrong. They are not that much better in person either.
They're so popular its sometimes 45 min wait regardless of how you order. But its not b.c the service is bad the food is just that good. And yes the 45min wait is worth it. Updating b.c omg has the service dropped there so much. They messed up my order promised a refund and then the delivery person never came back and they stopped answering the phone. What the heck.
charged me $32.50 for my meal, didn’t print my receipt, then tried to tell me i didn’t pay, ended up charging me twice. Don’t eat here late at night they will take advantage of you. On top of all of that, the food was mid as hell!
Came here for dinner intending to spend $$$ and use a restaurant.com voucher. Upon showing the voucher to the owner he immediately became hostile and borderline rude and told us he wouldn’t accept it. He took a photo of the voucher in my phone and started making out that he’d have to call them and made us feel like we’d done something wrong. This guy has no business running any kind of hospitality establishment. He should have honoured the discount and reach out to restaurant.com afterwards to remove his offer. Instead his attitude made us feel like we didn’t want to stay or give him a dime so we left and found somewhere else to eat. Turns out there are better options in the neighbourhood anyway. Avoid this place, service with a smile it ain’t! By the way - it’s now 3 days later and the offer on restaurant.com is still live, so he’s obviously not bothered to do anything about it. I suspect he uses it for advertising and then cons people into paying full price when they get there.
I made 2 order of chilaquiles but I couldn’t eat them had to trow them out to garbage very spicy .,am even a Mexican but Jesus Christ this ,I couldn’t take they don’t even serve them with rise and beans , I called to restaurant and the guy was very rude and nasty talking definitely he doesn’t care about customer service I been eating this dish all over Brooklyn and different mexican restaurant but this totally made me upset not going back to this restaurant and never ordering here ever again I do not recommend this place also their michelada suck 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
