Cannot recommend this place enough! The chef Ararat was so kind and friendly, he explained every dish in elaborate detail and even walked us through the process of preparing each dish. The menu changes daily and he picks the freshest ingredients from the market. The food tasted just like comfort food. Chef Ararat’s passion for nyc, cooking, and fresh ingredients was evident. It was truly one of the coolest dining experiences I’ve had in nyc!

What can I say, this was a rich and unique experience. Had the place practically to ourselves on a rainy evening and the owner, Ararat (forgive me if I spelled incorrectly!!) treated us to a specially cooked meal and healthy pourings of wine matched to almost every dish. Everything was amazing. The beets with goat cheese and lemon and mint and salt and pepper… sweet Jesus. Braised meat and soups and lamb/sirloin sliders get out of here. The deserts were phenomenal and catered to any palette. We chatted history and travel and food and wine over an incredible meal that warms you to your core. Good people are still out there. If you want a genuine, home cooked, memorable dinner, come here!!

Wow. An absolutely INCREDIBLE NIGHT!! Full of food and good chats with the owner. Owner was extremely knowledgeable on all things Armenia and Armenian food. Very charismatic, approachable, and friendly. His dishes were all outstanding but my favorite was the lamb/sirloin sliders. So so so so so delicious. Everyone needs to come to this restaurant ASAP!!!!! 1000/10 best dining experience I’ve had in years

When I first walked into this place I knew I had “been here before”…it was my birthday and the Wizard behind this gem-Ararat not only whisked the menus away, but curated a special birthday menu for me! We were so touched, the last to leave, as we enjoyed a mouth watering 7 course dining experience paired with high-end Armenian wines at a fraction of the price. It’s is a Vortex where old & new friends meet again, to check-in with stories and giggles and promise to see each other again soon. So much so we now make each occasion a special one and request our favorite table to feel at home again. The chef’s creative menu with flavors that burst in your mouth, farm to table, in season and authentic from his grandma’s generational recipes that you feel her there and know it’s a special gift passed on from this authentic Armenian kitchen. I don’t think I have experienced a place like this before, the kitsch decor & Wall of Fame have much revered stories that go with them… if you’re lucky enough to experience the hot ❤️‍🔥 Belly Dancer Yasmin, please don’t hesitate to call & request her ahead of time! ….sssh don’t tell too many people, I still manage to get a spot, for now…

One of the best experiences we’ve had in New York! Let’s start with the food — it was absolutely amazing and delicious. But the real highlight of this place is its owner, Ararat. He was incredibly welcoming, funny, and kind to our group. He also shared the story behind his restaurant, which made the whole experience even more special. Highly recommend this place — not just for the food, but for the warm hospitality.

This is truly a very special cafe and a great place to have a long dinner or lunch. The host is also the chef and makes time to tell you about his dishes and make you feel at home. He also gave us free wine to pair with our dessert and a couple side courses just because. The flavors are super unique and you can tell that the food is thoughtfully made, with hints of cardamom in the spanakopita and potatoes with orange zest. Also the price is great with the full meal being $27. In some ways it felt like having a great home cooked meal and we stayed for several hours with no pressure to leave. Highly recommend this spot.

Very interesting and unique cafe/restaurant that offers a very intimate experience. Chef Ararat is a talented chef, host, waiter, story teller, etc. 🇦🇲this place is not just for dining : it’s an experience of its own and you must visit to see it for yourself. 🇦🇲Every dish he makes and serves has a story, 🇦🇲when you come- don’t expect a quick serve, expect conversation, intimacy with the person you’re with, the atmosphere in the air, between the chef, waiter, etc…so much life in this place.

Chef Arat is a national treasure. As tempted as I am to keep this place to myself, they are too deserving of all the business coming their way. The wine selection is thoughtfully curated featuring Armenian and local wines. I asked for a soda and he sent the busboy to the deli to get the exact soda I wanted. A meal here is an EXPERIENCE. Chef himself said, THIS should be the night’s plan. We were there for 3 hours, had at least 10 plates brought out to us of everything he wanted to make that day. 3 hours felt like nothing as we were having the best, laid back time. Everything was delicious. Lastly, it was SO affordable for what we experienced and ate. Well under $50 per person which allowed us to tip what they deserved.

If only we could leave 10 stars for last night! What a memorable dinner and a birthday celebration for our son. We were tired and hungry and stopped for a quick bite at the end of a very long day but in the end we didn’t want to leave the place (and stayed passed closing time). Chef Ararat is the most charming host, he makes you feel truly at home. I was so touched by his kindness and attention to our birthday boy, it brought me to tears 🥹 As someone here has already commented, this place has more character than, in my case, all previous restaurants combined! Frankly, we felt that the prices were too low for what you get here. Highly recommend but be ready to relax and chat 🙂

This place is awesome. The chef is super friendly and down to earth, making a point to chat at length to customers. He makes you feel welcome in the place, and shares personal stories as well as explaining his dishes. He was super accommodating to a vegetarian. The food was flavorful and I’d say quite healthy and natural. Wine is paired thoughtfully with each dish. Armenian wine is even available. I could go on, but needless to say, I highly recommend this restaurant!

I’ve been dining my way around the world the past few years via NYC restaurants. From Tibetan food in the East Village, Bhutanese food in Woodside and Moldovan dinners deep in the heart of South Brooklyn, I’ve been to quite a few restaurants outside the generic bagel, pizza, and Michelin Star scene that constitutes NYC. This has been one of my favorite and best experiences so far. The food is fresh and wonderful, the chef cares about his clientele, and the ambience feels like I just walked into the house of an old friend or loved one. Would highly recommend visiting Cafe Little Armenia. You won’t be disappointed.

I want to thank the owner and waitress for an amazing experience. The chef was so attentive, gave us little stories for each dish, and explained the secret menu item. He started us off with a nice piece of spinach tart, my wife and I loved it so much. Then we ordered a prix fix which comes with an appetizer, entree, and dessert. Each dish had me gasping at every bite. At the end, there was an orange cake, it made me feel like Remy the Rat from Ratatouille from the way the flavors came together. This was such a great experience, I have no words but that they should have a line around the block every single day. Big kudos to the chef and I hope he lives a very happy life for the fact that he gave my wife and I an experience to remember.

Not saying anything new about how warm and hospitable this place is, me and my two friends had dinner their tonight and cannot recommend enough what a incredible experience it was. Chef Ararat it truly felt like a home away from home, he even went out of his way to cook a custom meal for my. Vegetarian friends not on menu. Highly recommended! Thank you for a memorable evening! We will definitely be back 🙌🏻

All around incredible experience. Went for a birthday celebration with about 25 people and had the best time. Ararat welcomed us in like we were family coming to his home for a visit and home cooked meal. Everything about the night was intentionally planned and executed perfectly. The spinach pies were phenomenal along with the butternut squash soup, and sirloin burgers. He also recommend an Armenian wine that was delicious. Very few better experiences in NYC!!

I recently stopped by Little Armenia Cafe while exploring the Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn, and it turned out to be a pleasant discovery for anyone interested in Armenian cuisine. Queens is often known for its diverse food scene, but Brooklyn continues to reveal pockets of culinary traditions that reflect New York’s immigrant communities. Little Armenia Cafe is one of those small neighborhood spots where food culture quietly speaks for itself. The atmosphere is simple and welcoming. The space feels like a relaxed neighborhood café rather than a formal restaurant. It is the type of place where regulars seem comfortable lingering over tea or coffee while sharing small plates. The décor is modest, but the warmth of the environment makes it feel approachable and authentic. The menu highlights traditional Armenian dishes along with familiar Middle Eastern staples. Items like lahmajoun, kebabs, hummus, and fresh salads showcase the regional flavors that define the cuisine. The food leans toward straightforward preparation, allowing spices, grilled meats, and fresh herbs to carry the flavor. Portions are generous and feel designed for sharing, which aligns with the communal style of dining common throughout the Caucasus and Eastern Mediterranean. Service felt friendly and relaxed, which matched the neighborhood café setting. Staff were welcoming and seemed genuinely proud of the food they were serving. Having traveled extensively across regions where Armenian and Levantine food traditions intersect, the experience here reminded me of the small family-run cafés you often find in cities throughout the Middle East and Eastern Europe. It is not about spectacle or presentation. Instead, the focus is on comfort food, tradition, and hospitality.

I had a fantastic, memorable evening that reminded me so much of all the reasons I love this city. The restaurant owner is incredibly passionate about cooking, and it shows. Every dish that came out was delicious and considered, but more than that, full of passion and creativity. The owner cares immensely about the experience of each customer, and is a delight to chat with. Every dish was personally selected for us in a multi-course meal, and every dish was an absolute treat. I highly recommend this restaurant. It’s a gem. I will be bringing friends here all the time.

One of the hidden gems of Greenpoint.A dimly lit, intimate, quaint and a little Bohemian flare. The beet carpaccio is a delight for starters. The combination of the shaved beet and goat cheese is just fun to eat.The hangar steak with mushrooms over orange mashed potatoes is second to none. Yet,the risotto is by far the best I've had. With asparagus and sundried tomatoes left a lasting impression.Delicious. Corn and chicken chowder is my favorite soup. The dessert sampler is just so cute and satisfying close to the meal. Having met the Chef and conversed with him at length from everything from The Grateful Dead to Boxing to the Simpsons ."Ho Vissutto" which simply means"I have lived!",is the feelings I get from being here .

The wine flows freely and he makes up the prices as he goes. Its always a multi course meal with deserts and wine and great conversations with the host. I highly recommend this spot.

Little Cafe Armenia is a true gem. From the moment you walk in, Ararat makes you feel less like a customer and more like family. His passion for the food and pride in his culture comes through in every dish, and he takes the time to make sure everyone feels comfortable and cared for. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and authentic, and the food is made with real heart and soul. If you’re looking for incredible Armenian food and an even better experience, this place is an absolute must.

I've got to echo the reviewer who said it was one of their best NYC experiences (and I live here!) and the reviewer who said it reminded them that dining is supposed to be about human connection. I felt... loved? in the way Ararat took care of me and made me my own special little tasting menu for one when I dropped in spontaneously before they were even fully open. Will come back and bring all my people. Come let Ararat cook for you- it is a special (and extremely tasty) experience. Particularly have to shout out the beet carpaccio, lamb burger, and zabaglione 🤤...

It was a quieter, rainy day, but Ararat the chef delivered! The food was delicious, and the service and hospitality were top notch. Ararat was an amazing host and so kind in making us feel at home in his cozy restaurant. I left with an appreciation for all things orange zest. The soup, orange zest mashed potatoes, and orange cake were superb. Can’t wait to come back here again.
