Just stopped in to check out the little store, as I have passed it on numerous occasions. Quaint little place. Has a restaurant in the same building, but we didn't go in.
A true country Cafe. Daily special was chicken fried steak with 2 sides and Texas toast. Perfect lunch size, under $11. Iced tea is fresh. Save room for pie if possible. The hamburgers are old fashioned and delicious with the crispy fries.
My wife and I were impressed with the food and service at Hoovers Cafe. She had the G.O.A.T cheese burger. It was delicious like it might have been made in the 50’s. The fries were also delicious. I had the grilled chicken salad. It was very well balanced and delicious. Finally, we had a chocolate cream pie to cap off the experience. Memorable.
My wife and I eat here every Friday night. The food is always great. We typically get burgers but tonight we finally tried the catfish and it was delicious. We usually have the same server (Bobbie) she is always good to us and has great energy. Highly recommend getting a bacon cheeseburger or the catfish!!
swung by for a takeout order before heading to inks for the star party- staff was very nice and pleasant. def recommend the hickory burger and their cookie dough banana cheesecake (i believe is what it’s called- something with cookie dough). i forgot to take photos because i was so hungry, and the food was too good to stop eating when I realized
The burger here is hands down the best old-fashioned burger I’ve had in a long time! Juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. What really made it special was the friendly chef, dressed in proper chef’s attire — such a great touch that adds to the whole experience. If you’re in the area, you’ve got to stop by.
They had the best food mid way through a motorcycle ride 15 years ago. Just came back. They're are still killing it! Thank you for amazing food and drink. Don't change!
Found out cafe is connected to the store but has plenty of dining tables. Service was excellent with two ladies constantly checking in on me. Got the chicken finger basket and it arrived nice and hot. Came with Texas toast and fries. Everything was delicious and filling. To my surprise was a free slice of pie (part of the meal). Overall an excellent deal and a wonderful experience.
Great little cafe close to Inks Lake, I got the all-you-can-eat catfish on a Friday night, and I have to say that the fish was seasoned and cooked well. Service is outstanding, and it's got that quaint cafe atmosphere. They do get busy and on the servers end up running around like crazy but raise your hand and they will get to you.
Cute café with good food just three miles from Inks Lake State Park. It's attached to a store at a gas station. We had cheeseburgers with choice of cheese on really delicious sourdough buns. Sweet potato fries and cole slaw as sides and one order of hushpuppies a la carte. Everything we had was served fresh and hot. At the start of the meal we were offered complimentary pinto beans and they were delicious too. Sparse gluten free options (burgers w/o bun, salad, loaded baked potato).
Overall, it's a great place to stop for home cooking. Sorry, I didn't think to take pics of the food. For dinner this place was very good. I had the meatloaf mashed potatoes and okra. The potatoes didn't seem instant, unlike what someone else said it was. The size of the meatloaf was good for me, but for others, it may need to be a bit more, like 2 slices instead of 1. My sister had the Big Texas, which was a large sandwich and tasted good. However, the bottom was soggy. My daughter had the steak, and she said that for the price, it was a tasty steak. She ordered medium rare but got a medium well. The Rubin sandwich was really good but could use more dressing. Catfish was great and large portions. We all had pie and different ones. Overall, all the pies were great. Lemon was a bit strong, though. My favorite was the brownies pie. P.s. this restaurant is across the street for a location Vinyard.
Great food and nice folks. Close to work so a somewhat regular lunch spot. Always good food, always good service. I keep it light so this was the loaded baked potato. Had the ham and cheese, Daily special yesterday. Very tasty and twice the amount I can eat. I like lunch here and do it often. I eat here several times a week. Ways good food, I love the service. BBQ sandwich is super good. Thanks for adding that.
This placed was packed on a Sunday afternoon! It reminds me of Bluebonnet Cafe but their wait was much better. I don't even think I waited five minutes before my food came out. I guess ordering the special for that day may have a time special too. Everything was good but I couldn't eat or drink it all in one sitting. The drinks were HUGE, and for less than $15 (entree, two sides, drink and cake), you really get a big bang for your buck. Great restaurant and wonderful staff!
Last year we ate here many times with fast excellent service, this year not so much... actually waited 20 minutes today for service & had no acknowledgement from waitress @ all..not that busy either maybe 5 tables & 2 staff So disappointing, with so many great places to eat we will not return
Do not go after 2 pm on a Sunday - they are closing down and in shutdown mode. Onion rings were good but look like the cans from a bag- I ordered the chicken fried steak- mashed and green beans - beans were cold , mashed looked like they were the last left in the pan. The chicken fried steak was good. We also ordered the chicken fingers that looked like they came from a bag and asked for side of gravy but they were out. Made the trip specifically to eat there. Service was outstanding- our waitress was awesome.
The food is good if you can tolerate the unfriendly service by one of the waitresses. I didn’t feel welcome whatsoever. I was part of a group who stopped by to eat there and I noticed I was skipped twice when taking orders for drinks and food. This was no coincidence and it was intentional. I believe I know why she did it but I’d rather not say because I am the better person. My advice is find another place to eat.
Decent looking little country restaurant. Service was pretty bad and food was worse. Hardly saw the waitress. My three guys got the chicken fried steak, all hated it, my two teens wouldn’t even eat it past the first bite. They said it was too chewy and gross, almost gamey. One boy spit it out. Potatoes were so watery and my son wouldn’t eat those either. My husband ate his steak because he was hungry and will eat food he hates. I told the waitress, who didn’t care, apologize or offer to take anything off. We paid $80 for basically two of us to eat. And these were two hungry teen boys who had been hiking. That says a lot. French fries and slaw were the only good things. Shrimp was just okay.
