10/10 experience. Came here for a birthday and reserved an open table. Colletta reached out and asked what the birthday persons interests were. Definitely need a reservation on the weekends as it was busy. To our surprise, colletta had gifted the birthday person, a gift of what they were interested in. Our waitress Violet, was excellent. From the service to the food, everything was great. Definitely try the focaccia, mussels, chicken Parmesan, and rigatoni. Their pizza was also excellent. The cocktails were also excellent, def recommend the endless summer (rum and guava drink)
We dined at Colletta for the first time last night. Had a 5pm reservation, only waited a few minutes. Our server, Ariana was awesome. Very sweet and attentive. Our food was amazing. We started off with burrata. Our entrees were the spaghetti(with lobster and caviar) and the steak gillian. We shared a side of broccolini because it was actually enough for 2-3 people. We finished up with brûléed sweet potato torte to go. The food was absolutely delicious, the service was great and the ambience was really nice. We will definitely be back!!
We had an amazing experience, and a big part of it was thanks to our waiter, Adam’s. From the moment we sat down, he was welcoming, attentive, and very professional. He made sure everything was perfect, checked on us at the right times, and had such a friendly attitude that made us feel comfortable and taken care of. His recommendations were great, the service was fast, and he handled everything with patience and a smile. You can tell he truly cares about giving customers a good experience. Highly recommend! 10/10👌🏻
Colletta completely exceeded our expectations. My fiancé brought me here for my birthday and everything, from the food to the atmosphere, was perfect. Nevena was hands down one of the best servers we’ve ever had: thoughtful recommendations, attentive service, and such a warm personality that made the night feel even more special. And the Italian music playing all night? Absolutely loved it. Coletta is a total gem. Highly recommend!
Had an early dinner here. That is notable since some menu items are only available after 5pm. Everyone I interacted with was friendly, the food was delicious, and we got in and out in a reasonable timeframe. Had A Fresh Start mocktail which was good (once stirred). They do not bring bread to the table so we started with an order of Focaccia. The top of the bread was crunchy while the inside was soft and the cheese on top added to the taste. I ate the Rigatoni which was yummy and had so much flavor. I will be returning here in the future.
We had a beautiful weather night in Feb to celebrate Valentine's Day a little late. We were seated outside, but the ambiance inside looked amazing as well. You can't go wrong. Friendly hosts and our waiter was absolutely amazing! Shout out to Ulysses! He was great! Everything he recommended was amazing. I highly recommend the lasagna and the lobster spaghetti (while it lasts)! The ceaser salad? OMG! The best. We asked him to pick the wine, and the Chianti was amazing as well. Ulysses then sold us on the Spumoni, which I had had never tried and my date doesn't really like. But he talked it up and he was right! Absolutely right. Life changing desert lol. Last he brought a single meatball (on the house) to share and said "next time you have to try this". Right again! Amazing! I will order meatballs next time. If you're in Fenton / Cary, NC and craving a great Italian dinner experience, ask for Ulysses at Colletta! Can't wait to go back and take some friends!
I’d never been here before, and I didn’t even know this place existed until an hour before I went—but my time here has me still wanting to go back as soon as I can. I came to celebrate my 26th birthday with my family, have a lowkey night with some lowkey vibes and enjoy amazing food, and honestly, any expectations I had about Colletta were blown out of the water. From the moment I stepped in the door (they can take reservations btw), I was greeted by smiling faces wishing me a happy birthday and welcoming me in for the very first time. From there, my experience only got better. The girl who helped us—I feel awful for blanking on her name because she 1000% deserves recognition—was extremely personable and cracked jokes with my family and I throughout the night as we dined. She made us feel welcome, and almost like we were the only people in there. She helped us navigate the menu, offering her knowledge of it to provide recommendations and help us decide. I ended up getting the Chicken Parm over a bed of rigatoni and vodka sauce, and honestly I had forgotten to take a picture before I had absolutely annihilated half the pasta—it WAS indeed that good. Outside of the food, there was an ambient hum of conversation throughout the night that never rose to unreasonable levels, no matter how many people came through the door. It made for easy and light conversation without getting drowned out by normal restaurant noise for the entire time I was there. Now, I typically don’t write a whole lot of reviews, but Colletta and the people there offered me such an amazing experience that I just had to share it. Now I know that three things are for certain: Death, Taxes, and that I will be back here for 27😌
Where do I start?! From atmosphere, over service, to the food. Everything was amazing. Came here for our Christmas party and we all got to enjoy and share delicious appetizers, main courses and desserts. Our party was located in a private area from where you could see the beautiful Christmas tree outside and see people enjoy ice skating. Our server was phenomenal, even though I remember his name I couldn't spell it lol but I want to thank him for great service, a fun smooth evening and being patient with us as we went through our meals and gift exchange. The food was absolutely delicious and I think it is such an awesome thing that it rotates so there's always something new to try. We all had a fun evening and enjoyed ourselves to the fullest. I can highly recommend to give Colletta at Fenton in Cary a visit and indulge in their Italian cuisine!
My partner and I made a reservation for our 7 year anniversary and we were absolutely blown away! The service and food were so incredible I will be thinking about this visit for months to come. It was so cozy and romantic and they sat us in a round booth which we thought was perfect. The foccacia was to-die-for, the ravioli entree was so unique and delicious. They served us gifts including complimentary dessert, completed with a “happy anniversary” topper. The manager even made a point to stop by our table to say hello. We will definitely be back for more amazing food. Thank you, Colletta for absolutely spoiling us on our date night!
LOVE this place. We celebrated a long overdue anniversary date here and splurged. Ordered a few apps and cocktails and bottle of wine. The bartender wasn’t the best— despite engaging him in friendly conversation (baseball playoffs, where he was from etc) at a nearly empty bar he was just kind of dull and not interested in engaging. I think that should be a requirement for a bartender, or at least pretend to be engaged. He was busy chatting it up with the waiters and discussing plans for after work though—I get it. The service/hospitality industry is tough but when motivated by tips, I’d think he’d care more. Hoping to go back and experience a better bartender but besides that the food was EXCELLENT. The mussels were on par with the mussels we ate fresh from Washington on our honeymoon. Just wish they weren’t so skimpy with the bread served to dip up that delicious sauce. I don’t think at the price of their food that bread should be a $14 appetizer. Order the arranchini! Calamari was good but our least favorite of the 3. The bottle of wine he recommended (Barolo) was nothing like the wine we described we liked— I think he was pretending to know wine but clearly missed the mark. An expensive $78 mistake.
Without a doubt the best dinner experience we’ve had in a while. Me and my now wife got married yesterday and decided we’d do some running around and happened upon Colletta on a whim. Not only were we welcomed by an amazing atmosphere as soon as we arrived but our waitress Madeline provided us with PHENOMENAL service. From the drinks she made, to her attentiveness, and just all around providing us with a great experience. She asked if we were celebrating anything and we briefly mentioned our marriage and the manager on duty Kenny was gracious enough to stop by and wish us well and gifted us wine glasses on behalf of the restaurant. We love trying new places in NC but this is definitely somewhere we’ll be returning in the near future. The entire staff and experience was 10/10.
After trying many Italian restaurants in the Raleigh area, I can confidently say that Colletta is the best so far. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels warm, inviting, and refined without being pretentious. The service is attentive and friendly, striking the perfect balance between professionalism and genuine hospitality. The food is what truly sets Colletta apart. Every dish we tried was beautifully prepared and bursting with authentic flavor. The lasagna are clearly made with care, with exactly 15 layers—perfectly cooked with sauces that feel both comforting and elevated. The pizzas have that perfect balance of a crisp yet airy crust, fresh toppings, and bold flavor. Even the small plates impressed, with ingredients that tasted fresh and thoughtfully paired. Unlike other spots that try to do too much, Colletta focuses on quality over quantity, and it shows in every bite. The wine selection also complements the menu perfectly, adding to the overall experience. If you’re looking for Italian dining in Raleigh that feels both authentic and special, Colletta is the place. It’s the kind of restaurant you want to return to again and again—and I certainly will.
ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. Beautiful atmosphere. Our waiter Anthony was so kind and recommended the Bolognese, and it was to DIE FOR and served hot (which is a huge plus! Who wants lukewarm food??!!). He was very attentive and we wanted for absolutely nothing. We just love this place!!! Will be back! My new favorite restaurant ❤️
I was here for an anniversary dinner back in September, the food was AMAZING. I wish i remembered our servers name, he made our special night even more special with some meatballs and dessert on the house! We will definitely be back again
I can't say enough good things about this restaurant!! They truly made my friend's birthday and graduation celebration a great experience. Our server was respectful, kind, and knowledgeable about the menu. She (and the other staff) went above and beyond for our dinner. We were seated promptly with a reservation, served at the right times, and we were able to make modifications to our meals. The food itself was creative, flavorful, and presented well. I highly recommend the spare ribs and the strawberries in the burrata were a nice touch. The menu is supposed to be seasonal so some items may not be always available. We also ordered the chicken parmesan and the bucatini. The chicken parmesan is very crispy and this restaurant does not skimp on portion sizes. The bucatini was just the right side of creamy and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. The torte was decadently set, especially with the chocolate sauce on the side. My only complaint is that the tiramisu was more like a coffee mascarpone cheese cake but even the presentation of that was original. They even gave us some of their fresh salted caramel gelato that's made in-house! Overall, it was an incredible experience and we're already planning our next visit!
Arriana was our server last night and she was so sweet and attentive the entire evening. I ordered the spaghetti and clams - please never take this off the menu! Being from Connecticut, it’s hard to find truly great pasta around here, and this was honestly the best pasta I’ve ever had. I already want it again for dinner tonight!
Great experience for an early Saturday dinner. We did have a reservation and arrived a little early and were able to be seated within a few minutes. It took a while for the server to come greet us and there was a longer gap from the first interaction to the second but it was fine after that. The portion sizes are generous but it’s a pricey restaurant. The vibe is more of a modern Italian restaurant and appeals to a younger generation. The drinks were good, I got two different mocktails which were delicious and the people with me got a draft beer and a Pinot noir. We got the focaccia bread, charcuterie and cheese, and the Cesar salad as starters. The Cesar salad was a generous size but it was dry and needed more dressing. For the entrees we got the chicken Parmesan, sausage pizza, and Brussel sprout pizza. We split a side order of crispy potatoes. The food was very good and we learned their pastas and breads are made in house and they get some of their produce from the local farmers market. We did finish with a decaf latte, cappuccino, and the triple chocolate mousse tort with was a nice way to end the meal.
Great experience. Had a 4:30 reservation. Robert provided great service tonight. He was friendly and prompt. Food was amazing. Got the ravioli and it was by far one of the best dishes I’ve ever had. It was pretty busy but still easy to have a conversation so wasn’t too loud. They have an open kitchen and my dad was fascinated with watching them and the expo work so 10/10 for entertainment as well I guess! Lol
First time Visiting! Ulysses was great! He recommended great options to try. Will visit again. Thank you for a great evening.
We went here for the first time to celebrate my birthday. The food is to die for! The tagliatelle came highly rated by friends and definitely lived up to the hype. The 15 layer lasagna was light and didn’t sit like a bowling ball in your stomach. Both desserts we ordered were delicious and the Strawberry Blondie Spritz is worth trying. Customer service was above and beyond. My son ordered a pizza with no onions. It came with the onions. Before we had even noticed the manager was at our table taking it back to correct the error. She brought him some meatballs to eat while he waited and even comped us the pizza. Our server apologized several times as well. We were truly impressed. We will absolutely be returning and highly recommend it!
My husband and I dined at Colletta for my husbands birthday. Upon making a reservation, I was asked if we were celebrating anything special. I told them we were celebrating my husbands birthday. They asked what his hobbies, favorite color and interests were. I told them he was into cars and his favorite color was green. Thinking that maybe they’d draw a picture in a birthday card or something for him. When we arrived, our server brought out a gift bag and said happy birthday. Inside was a green model car. Needless to say, the night was already started off above our expectations. Then we got to talk to our server Corey a little more as he guided us through the menu. He had perfect timing to his attentiveness, explained dishes perfectly (as we tried them all after we asked about them), he was able to make suggestions and even threw in a few more perks for my husbands birthday. The lasagna and chicken parm are amazing! Along with the meatball appetizer and the affogato for dessert. We will definitely be back, not only for the food but for Corey’s service. It’s not everyday that you find a server that has genuine hospitality and isn’t just someone trying to get you in and out as a part of their night. I’ve been in the restaurant industry for 10+ years as a server , bartender, and general manager. I can truly say he is an asset to your restaurant, and I recommend anyone dining, should ask for Corey to take care of them!
Can't really find a fault at Colletta. Our food was amazing, the service was even better, and the overall atmosphere was great. The menu is pricey, but the quality of the food and service justifies the cost. Portion sizes are pretty good. For me, it's not a casual week day restaurant, but if you are celebrating something special or just want to have a nice date night out, I would highly recommend!
Food was fantastic! We had Caesar salad, Pizza, mussels, lasagna, swordfish and several other dishes. Everything had great flavor and healthy portions. The 16 layer lasagna was the fave! Service was excellent - Kenny was very attentive. Diana the manager even stopped by several times to check on drinks and food items. We will definitely be back!
I LOVE this place — chose to come here for my birthday tonight and when making a reservation, they always ask about interests/favorite colors/etc. and this year, I received such a thoughtful gift bag with items related to the details in the reservation. I was so surprised and grateful for this gesture in addition to the amazing service and food. My friend and I got the chicken parm and tagliatelle which were to die for, and the calamari for an appetizer. The restaurant is always clean, not too loud, and very welcoming. Will be coming back as often as possible!!
I can't say enough great things about Colletta. It was my birthday and we made a reservation a few days prior and they sent us a questionaire of why we are joining, likes and dislikes and we filled out the form, not even giving it two thoughts. Well, low and behold! We go to our said reservation on a Friday evening, the hostesses welcomebus by wishing me a happy birthday, our server does the same and then hands me a gift bag. I'm shocked. I open it and it's a travel toiletry case with bottles, plus dog toys! I filled out the questions and said I travel for work and we have two dogs. Omg! Hospitality is ALIVE and well at Colletta. The craziest part, after dinner I had planned on purchasing a new case. Now, I don't have to! We also got a complimentary appitizer. Our food was great, so was our server, fantastic, atmosphere, it was so fun. In the end, I'm blown away by this experience. I worked in Hospitality, for full service hotels and we did very personal and chic things like this, maybe 10 years ago. It's unheard of now. I am forever a fan and we will be back.
This place had a nice romantic flare. My server was kind and took time to explain the menu and some of his favorites. We enjoyed wine, food, and dessert. I had the market fish, and my partner had pizza. We shared a tasty mussel appetizer!! Everything was very tasty.
Our main courses were absolutely delicious! The Lasagna and the Chicken Parmesan were both portioned generously and tasted amazing. Our server was friendly and took great care of us. As for the desserts, we felt the tiramisu was far from a traditional tiramisu and the pistachio lime bar was a bit underwhelming but the affogato was delicious. Took one star off the atmosphere since there were a lot of flies in the main dining area (we were not sitting outside) but hopefully that was just a one-time issue and it can get resolved before the warmer months come. Overall, Colletta is a lovely place for a romantic date or a celebratory dinner as it's on the pricier side. It was my first time dining at Colletta and I'd definitely return!
We loved everything about our experience here. Our waitress was amazing. Incredible service and so pleasant. The food was incredible. Best margarita pizza I’ve had since being in Italy myself. The dishes are huge. The gelato is made fresh there and so good. Definitely get the focaccia bread and Caesar salad - incredible! Will definitely return.
We went to Colletta for our 10th anniversary dinner, and it was absolutely the perfect addition to our celebration. The food was fantastic, every dish surprised us with its flavors. Our host, Brian, did an outstanding job and made the evening even more special. He really understands what guests want and gave us great recommendations. They also surprised us with a complimentary dessert, which was such a thoughtful touch. We loved everything about our experience. We’ll definitely be visiting again and recommending Collette to our friends!
I visited the restaurant on a Friday night, a couple of days before Christmas. What can i say, the atmosphere was magic! Outside the windows a beautiful tree lit up the entire area, while skaters enjoyed them selves. Inside, it was cozy and not too loud. The food was excellent, not overpriced in my opinion. The only flaw was the service, which was excellent but a bit slow. It took us almost an hour just to order... but agai, considering that it was a Friday night I guess it's ok. An elegant venue, really top quality and possibly one of the best places I've been to during my vacation in the US.
I had an absolutely amazing experience here, almost better than any other restaurant I’ve been to, and I do go out to eat a couple times a week. I set a reservation there for four people for my father‘s birthday dinner and upon setting the reservation I received a message asking about his hobbies/interest. I wasn’t sure what they were going to do with that information, but at the dinner they gave him a gift, which I have never seen a restaurant do before. They also served us a complimentary meatball appetizer (which was absolutely delicious). And since none of us are really dessert people, they gave us complementary Prosecco at the end. All in all, service exceeded my expectations, as well as all of the expectations of my guests in my party, and we definitely do plan on coming back. The service was amazing from the hostess to the waiter. The food was great as well. Not only did the food taste good, but each plate had its own unique flavor. And the ambience was very inviting and warm.
My family and I ate here just after the Christmas holiday. We were a group of 7 and luckily were seated right away in a private room off to the side. We all agreed that this was some of the best Italian food we have ever eaten! Each course was amazing. The cranberry/apple gelato was delicious! We will definitely be back!
We really enjoyed Colletta. It's a pretty fancy night out for me but the quality and price were aligned. Service really was top notch. Pasta is homemade, pizza is great and lasagna is truly unique. The tiramisu was a delicious way to end the night.
We've been coming to Colletta for 2+ years, and we continue to be impressed. Not only is the food excellent, but the service is phenomenal. The management and servers go above and beyond to make us feel appreciated and valued. Being courteous and responsive would be good enough (and isn't super common), but these people raise customer appreciation to an art form, at least in our experience. Our favorite staff member, Nevena, is super attentive, friendly, and such a joy. She is a credit to this restaurant, and she makes an already special meal even more enjoyable. Our most recent superb experience was last week for our anniversary. We have told many friends about Colletta and will continue to recommend it.
Colletta was the most memorable dining experience my family has ever had. We took my son for his birthday dinner. The music was happy, and the lightning made our table cozy. Our server, Corey L, was attentive and offered great recommendations. We ate family style so my son could try all the food. We agreed the grilled Swordfish and Lasagna Bolognese (layers of love) were our favorite dishes. The chef made a special dessert for my son that was unique and delicious. The thoughtful Maitre D, Mattie, surprised my son with a special treat. We were blown away. They truly go above and beyond to make this night unforgettable. We will be returning with friends. Thank you Colletta!!
Came here for dinner on a Monday night and it was pretty busy. We made a reservation beforehand thankfully. Our waiter was super nice and we ordered some olives to share. We were really suprised for how expensive the food was, that there was no complimentary bread, which I feel like most italian restaurants have. We ordered the tagliatelle, sachetti, and mushroom and sausage pizza. The tagliatelle was pretty good, but we were suprised by the portion size of the Sacchetti since it was $32. However, the fig jus was delicious and i loved that it was a sweet/savory dish. The pizza was also fine. We ordered the bruised sweet potato torta dessert to go. It was not too sweet and tasted like a sweet potato pie. Overrall, the food was a little expensive but good, not sure if we will back again. But it’s a great place to come for a nice dinner.
Visited Colletta for a dinner with coworkers and had an overall nice meal. I thought service was great throughout and the food portion sizes were massive. The actual dishes I felt varied from great to only okay, and the general aesthetic was a bit boring. Drinks were impressive however and the restaurant was buzzing with energy on a Monday.
The food was good and fresh, I’d recommend this place to someone who’s looking for a relaxing vibe with good pasta. We sat outside and it was a beautiful night. The ONLY reason that I’m not giving them 5 stars is because they took 17 minutes to greet me or ask me if I needed a drink. I think there was some mix up with the server assigned, but we ended up getting Nevena (I think that was her name) and she was awesome. So polite and attentive! They did ALL the right things to atone for the early mistake and for that I’d definitely dine here again!
Our server was very polite and attentive, however there were several other servers/staff milling around the back and joking with the bartender and others like they were back in High School. And that was probably why our orders got messed up. Other than that, the food was good and it was a descent experience, but will not be returning.
I went to brunch to spoil my sister just for fun. Reasonably priced for the quality and good but nothing particularly stood out. The calamari was a bit rubbery and not the most flavorful and the meatballs were good, but I’ve had better. The breakfast pizza was also good however I’d get something else if I were to go again. Great espresso! Our server was absolutely wonderful and all the other employees seemed very sweet as well. I’d go back for lunch or dinner and cocktails, but not brunch.
My riggatoni was good but it didn’t blow my mind or anything. Also, with the prices for the entrees, there should be a free bread service. Not sure why that is not included. The ambience is super nice though.
I met friends here for dinner. The atmosphere was great. The evening was nice and we were able to enjoy the patio dining. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. The food was just okay. I ordered the chicken parmigiana with spaghetti which, to me, was very bland.
Excuse me for not having my normal pics and videos but I was having such a great convo with my wife that I was deeply in the moment. Customer service was good if you want to go here make sure you do a reservation if you don’t want to eat outside or sit at the bar or high chair. Summertime a little spicy for outside. It can ruin your experience at such a nice restaurant as this. This place is not overpriced because the experience they deliver and demographic it’s in. The avg item on the menu roughly 21 dollars excluding drinks. One thing that surprised me is the music selection was pretty good and fit the ambience of the place. The woman here took great care of me and my family from the hostess to the waiter. Affagato 5 out of 5 just goodness for those coffee enthusiasts mmm mmm I took her down without a frown. Thoroughly enjoyed this dessert to end it off and was my redemption pick cause wifey ordered the best dish! Chocolate covered expresso bean is a great touch. They offer three flavors of ice cream too. I chose the classic vanilla. CRESTE DI GALLO 5 out of 5 This was the sneaky one when my wife ordered it I was okay whatever. When she let me taste🤩if you don’t like chicken noodle soup do not order this but if you do give them your check it’s the most elevated chicken pasta situation that has entered my belly! I wanted to close my eyes while chewing and lowkey was upset my wife ordered it and I didn’t it was that tasty. Only thing I would have liked was bigger pieces of chicken or a little more. The chicken was tender mor like a shredded chicken cause of how small they were. I solute the chef 🫡 for this simple but bussing aka Fuego Joyce Farms chicken bolognese, parmesan, aleppo, basil SPAGHETTI AND CLAMS 3.5 out of 5( due to price point this is why it’s low expected more) This was tricky great flavor tender noodle where things went wrong for me is the garlic was not “garlicking” I’m a huge garlic fan especially when I go to an Italian spot. Underwhelming mostly because of my expectations on the ingredients. Oooh i enjoyed the clams tender and taaaasty. The breadcrumbs added crunch to the dish was nice. Clams was the highlight of the dish Fa sho! I would recommend this dish for someone who is not and Italian food beginner and doesn’t do red sauces. Nduja butter, garlic, lemon, breadcrumbs BRUSSELS SPROUTS 2.5 out of 5 (because the price point is why this is so low it would be a 3) Brussels were a bit tough almost tough steak consistency the outside leaves of the Brussels was where it was crunchy 😋now the flavor was abosutely 7 out of 5. It wasn’t spicy at all But more of sweet and salty. It also had an undertone of like maybe a wasabi or radish like but hidden not the upfront flavor but more on the back end of the flavor profile . I enjoyed them honestly. I would recommend them because maybe the chef that day was slammed on why they were so tough Calabrian chili vinaigrette, raisins, sesame, parsley
Dined after sunset and the lighting was just enough to set a nice mood yet still see the menu. We were here in late December, so it was especially nice as the Christmas Tree and Ice Skating Rink were right outside the windows. Hostess welcomed us in fast and friendly style. Our server (Madeline S.) was very knowledgeable of the menu and was able to answer all questions that we had. We started with an appetizer of Marinated Olives, perfect for picking on while you settle in and enjoy the lively Fenton scene. We split one of the Apple Salads, well-seasoned and fresh tasting all around. I love Chicken Parmesan, so I ordered that (I have had it three times in three visits). My wife certainly enjoyed her Rigatoni. For those concerned about such matters, the portions here tend to be consistently quite large. So, if you do NOT want leftovers, I’d advice not over-ordering. Or, just go for it and get whatever you like! See pictures for full views, but dishes we’ve enjoyed here include: * Frisée + Apple Salad - Arugula, Gorgonzola, Dried Cherry, Candied Walnuts * Marinated Olives - Ligurian, Green & Red Cerignola, and Castelvetrano Olives, Herbs. * Rigatoni - Certified Angus Beef Bolognese, Tomato, Basil, Parmesan, Ricotta * Chicken Parmesan - Crispy Joyce Farms Chicken Breast, Spaghetti, Vodka Sauce, Mozzarella, Parmesan, Basil Overall, a very nice experience in Cary’s Fenton development.
I love trying new spots in the area and was craving Italian with how cold the weather’s been. I heard positive things about Colletta, so I figured I would bring a date to check it out. We arrived at our reservation about 15 minutes early and were told our table wasn’t ready. Absolutely fine, so we went to the bar and grabbed a few drinks. The cocktails were nothing to write home about. My date got their spin on an old-fashioned and was underwhelmed. We weren't called to our table until about 15 minutes after our reservation booking. So waiting at the bar for about 30 minutes in total. I enjoy trying a bit of everything, so I did just that when ordering off their menu. Beginning with their green-heavy starters, I ordered the insalata and a burrata. The insalata was overdressed, and nothing to write home about, and the burrata was just that burrata on a large bed of arugula. Then, moving on to the mussels and calamari, I enjoyed the mussels but was underwhelmed by the calamari. The breading was on everything but the octopus. You would pick up a piece, and the breading would decide to stay behind on the warm plate. We also ordered the spicy pizza, which was solid! The crust was thin and crisp, and the ingredients were of desirable quality. Moving on to the pasta/main courses, we ordered the rigatoni, lobster ravioli, lasagna, chicken parmesan, and carbonara. My highlights were the lobster ravioli and the rigatoni. The lobster ravioli was fresh, and the cream sauce pairing was decadent enough to make you pace yourself between bites. The beef ragu rigatoni provided balanced acidity when we needed a break from the ravioli and was a solid choice. The others I found to be a touch lackluster. The lasagna came out like a brick. I get its 15 layers, but I had to saw into it to get a bite. Chicken Parmesan was a generous portion, but very oversalted, and the carbonara was nothing to write home about. We opted not to get dessert! Overall, if you're craving pasta, not too picky about seasoning, and want considerable portions, this spot is for you.
This place is great and we love the cocktails, food and ambiance BUT omg please do something about the servers. Specifically the bartenders. They barely acknowledge the customers, they look absolutely miserable and just not welcoming at all! Not one had a smile or conversation with anyone at the bar lol it was crazy! We left before ordering food because it’s not welcoming for us. This is the only reason why I dislike this place, otherwise it’s a good
I would have to try something else if I came again. I had the rigatoni and my friend had the lasagna. Both pastas did not have any flavor to them. Luke warm dishes, and the rigatoni noddles were not the barrel noodles that were described for the dish and needed more sauce. You do not get complementary bread. The Cesar salad does have a lemon taste to it that I don’t care for. Drinks were good and service was good.
We stopped in for brunch today and wish we had gotten the stellar service and food that others who have given this place five stars to Coletta did. Our host is Zara seemed disconnected and to be honest a bit snarky and we couldn’t understand why. Honestly the food was just OK I asked for well done eggs and they were still a bit runny not very hot, etc. Pretty surprising because it was noon the height of Brunch the restaurant was pretty empty and the food still came out a bit lukewarm. I will say that the assistant general manager Kenny stopped by our table….Not sure if he saw the disappointed looks on our faces or what but he smoothed things over and took care of us. My overall review of this place is just based on my expectations at any place that I eat to be served food that was made with love, served by someone with the easy connected energy, which I did not feel today. I’m an easy guy so I’ll may try them for dinner another time like a secret shopper lol wait for the update! 🧐
We chose Colette for a rare date night the week before Valentine’s Day, hoping for a relaxed and romantic evening. The restaurant itself is beautiful, with a great atmosphere and prime location at Fenton — we had high hopes. Unfortunately, service was very slow from the start. We waited quite a while for our waitress to check in and ended up flagging someone down to order drinks. It took close to 20 minutes to receive a glass of wine and an Old Fashioned. The drinks were good, but quite pricey considering the wait. We ordered the calamari appetizer, which was over $20 and unfortunately too salty to fully enjoy. Because of the delays, we ended up skipping dinner altogether to make our movie time, which was almost two hours after we had been seated. Spending close to $100 (including tip) on two drinks and one appetizer left us feeling disappointed, especially given how rarely we get a night out. There’s definitely potential here — focusing on more attentive service (especially in the bar area), refining menu execution, and ensuring pricing aligns with the overall experience would make a big difference. We truly wanted to love it and hope to see it improve.
The only reason I gave it 2 stars for service was the nice guy that was either a bartender or server found an open spot in the bar for us, not even in his section AND the runner/manager (not sure his role but he delivered food to us and the party next to us, was very polite, had sense of urgency and stepped in where out waitress did not). So we stopped in to get a 2+ course meal before going to the movies, as an early Valentines day, to avoid the rush. We had not been out without our 3 kids and someone to watch the dog in over a yr and though I was laid off back in Sept, it was an occasion to celebrate, we needed it and we were STARVING! We arrived around 750ish and the place was packed. Hostess said it was 2.5 hrs for a table but bar was open seating. I saw nothing open, started to leave and the polite guy with light beard offered us up a spot where 2 others just left. Now granted, this should not even be an actually location to eat (slim bartop, tucked against and slightly behind a support beam, with all the "extra" chairs stored around it. That didn't really bother us out the gate, as we were hungry and needed food and a beverage asap! At 1st the waitress was kind and attentive, coming back to wipe down the bar top, serving us water and promptly getting our app in. I noticed a 4 top booth open up as we sat down and just assumed someone had reservations. We received our paper menus and had to use a flashlight to see what the options were and we were a little shocked by the price, limited options and again, paper menus. We decided to get our drinks and try the app before deciding how to proceed but a good 15+ mins passed and even in the small alley passageway that our waitress passed through 4-5×, I could NOT get her attention (I could have rudely stepped out, reached out or called for her but felt all were not appropriate responses, assuming she was just slammed). So we are hungry, thirsty as our room temp tap tasting water was gone and the HANGRY part started to come over me but then like magic, the runner/manager brought our calamari and I was good for now...so we thought! We thought for calamari $5-7 over typical price ($19) that it would either be a larger serving and/or just amazing. Well I should have trusted myself after the 1st bite bit again, we are over 20 mins in, no drinks and the 1st words out of my mouth were, "calamari please", sonI kept eating. The first bite was like eating a super salty pretzel, where too much large grain salt to dough ratio makes your face almost pucker. The breading was not light, nor crisp, rather old nasty grease, crappy breading and a ton of salt to mask the lack of effort. Then my wife noticed a few rings had been extra squishy and super fishy tasting. I noticed a few too but was starving. At that point I saw the waitress opening a bottle of wine for that same table that was cleared as we arrived and sat 5-10 mins before we got our appointment. I needed something to drink, so kindly asked the runner/ingredients if he could please.put our drink order in. At approx 30 mins into our exp (only 5ish mins after we asked him), we had our drinks (served by him). Right before that the waitress came by and said she heard we got drinks and asked if we were ready to order food. Once we got our drinks (they were good, not great for price), we decided we'd rather take a chance with over priced movie theater food, so we asked for the check when she passed ny 10+ mins after that. The bill for 2 decent drinks and 1 crappy app was $52. I left approx 15%, as I worked as a waiter for many yrs but I would never even look in the windows of that place ever again!
