Coffee shop in one of NYC's lovely spaces...a relatively new space between 5th & Madison on 55th/ 56th. Coffee was rich & flavorful!
Even if you don’t come for the coffee. You should come for the atrium. It’s covered. It’s full of green. It’s an oasis in the crazy midtown. Pro tip: there’s a public restroom next door.
My favorite new coffee chain in Manhattan! Fantastic drip coffee and lattes (including chai). Great, clean, modern locations. Goodbye, global chain.
The matcha tea & vegan cookie were fantastic
Absolutely 10/10. Price is reasonable, they made my coffee into an art piece with the cream, and on top of that it’s the best coffee i’ve ever had (out of towner). Fast service despite being technically past closed.
Allow me to paint a picture of the enchanting coffee experience I had at Black Fox Coffee, nestled on 550 Madison Avenue. Prepare yourself for a delightful journey through the realm of flavors, aroma, and passion for the perfect cup of coffee. From the moment I entered Black Fox, I knew I had stepped into a coffee lover's paradise. It was clear that this place was dedicated to the art and craft of coffee. Now, let's talk about their coffee selection. Oh, my taste buds were in for a treat! But it's not just the quality of the coffee that sets Black Fox apart; it's the attention to detail and craftsmanship that elevates the experience. They were more than happy to guide me through the menu, recommend blends based on my preferences, and engage in conversations about the world of coffee. Their genuine enthusiasm and dedication to ensuring that every customer had a memorable experience were truly commendable. Best oat Latte I’ve ever had
Great coffee and a beautifully designed space. Black Fox offers high-quality brews with a smooth, rich flavor. The atmosphere is calm and just relaxing. Friendly staff, Definitely one of the better coffee spots in the area!
Fantastic coffee shop if you want to come sit for a while and work or read. It's outside but covered by roof. The cappuccino I had was solid, nothing spectacular (try Watchhouse two blocks away if you want better specialty coffee), but I'll still go five stars because of the atmosphere and I'd definitely come back just to hang out here.
It's one of my favorite spots for coffee as it's within the open space atrium, full of pretty plants and birds. The staff are extraordinary and always very genuine. Quite rare to see baristas with genuine niceness in the city these days, so it's always refreshing to chat with these folks. The lines can sometimes be long as they also offer pick up orders, and it's very central within lots of offices. Definitely no longer than a 5 minute wait.
Fast service, a delicious latte, and the apple cider bundt is a must-try! <3 I’ll definitely be coming back!
I was staying in a nearby hotel for four days and rather than a sit down breakfast choose to have a coffee and croissant from here each day. Quick service with a good selection of pastries. The staff who were different each day were very friendly.
Nice little window shop tucked away! There are also public restrooms there. The drip coffee was really great! The cup we were looking for - light roast with fruity notes!
Their reliable standards apply to both cooking and hospitality. The way they've decorated this place stands out. The team recalling past conversations builds relationships. Their bestsellers deserve the attention they get. I'm already missing this place.
Came here around 4:30pm on a Sunday after visiting the MOMA and there was no wait. We were able to get coffee right away and be on our way. I got the matcha latte and loved the way it was presented even though it was to-go. The coffee shop does not have an indoor sitting area, so keep that in mind before you head over there
This Black Fox location, located outside, under a really lovely public awning between office towers, was a wonderful pit stop during our afternoon about town. The order window system is efficient and the staff were sweet. The prices, while certainly not cheap, felt standard of New York coffee shops. The quality of the drinks were fantastic too. I recommend the matcha; my boyfriend’s cold brew with oatmilk and butterscotch was also wonderful.
Simply good coffee on top of stylish and tasteful space. I had chance to visit Black fox coffe on 55th street located on the outdoor space In between buildings and what an amazing space they have! The iced americano and iced latte we had was great with coffee bean with low acidity flavour profile so no doubt many would easily enjoy! This location also have macha, chai, hot chocolate, housemade syrup, ginger based juice as well as pastries and When you need that extra wow on top of the great coffee itself, no look further and experience @blackfoxcoffeeco especially on 55th street location!
A really great stop if you're looking for something to warm you up while walking through Manhattan. I was almost a little concerned that the pricing was not Manhattan size
The service is slow but their coffee was great. We had a matcha which i usually don’t find amusing, but this was subtle and nicely balanced drink. The matcha flavor was not strong and tasted nice.
Lovely place. Great outdoor space, great coffee and lovely staff. Truly in love with this place.
One of the best things living in NYC is there are lots of adorable coffee shops around. We passed by Black Fox Coffee and were appealed by its cozy ambiance. We had a cup of latte and almond croissant to share as afternoon dessert. The latte was served with beautiful latte art which always makes our day. We really appreciate the staff and his sweet service.
Yes, cappuccino was great. Yes a tad too expensive for NYC standards but you know… it’s a nice area. The place is an open atrium that is classy and gives good vibes. Obviously it is a privately owned public space . The restroom next to the counter (last pic, glass door) might be the most visually appealing I have ever seen in NYC
My favorite place in Midtown to hang out. Been coming here almost every time I visit the city. It radiates a bit of that sterile corporate energy, but the covered outdoor space is really nice, and I never have to fight for a seat. It’s always spotless, and more importantly, they have a clean, accessible co-ed public restroom (which, in this neighborhood, is basically a unicorn). Drink-wise, they specialize in flavored lattes like Vanilla Date and Butterscotch. The latter is my go-to, and while it is aggressively sweet, it oddly reminds me of Butterbeer from the Harry Potter theme parks, which I used to love. Probably not the best spot this time of year, but when the weather’s nice, it’s definitely one of the best outdoor space to chill in the area.
Coffee is notoriously poor in NYC and we certainly found the offering across the city to be the case. NOT the case at Black Fox - we came here every morning of our 5 day trip and bar one round which was off, had perfect coffees each time. Mine was as close to a Melbourne Flat White as you could get. Delicious pastries too. Always swift and friendly service. Highly recommend.
This place is an absolute gem! The space is beautiful—the tables, the atmosphere, everything feels like a little forest escape right in the city. The coffee is outstanding; the flat white is so smooth it doesn’t even need sugar. The cups and presentation are lovely, everything feels picture-perfect. On top of that, the staff are courteous and professional, which makes the whole experience even better.
Black Fox Coffee near Central Park is a cozy spot with excellent drinks. The butterscotch coffee was rich and smooth, the cappuccino perfectly balanced, and the latte creamy without being too heavy. Great quality and a nice place to recharge after a park walk. Love the open seating area too!
I was walking uptown and decided to stop here for a coffee and to cool off as the day is already hot. Been here before. Nice area going thru the block from 55 to 56 between Madison and Park. Lots of seating.small food place near 56. Black Fox is near 55. Ordered decaf Americano and it was delicious. Very crowded today with a large group of office workers. Nice place to escape the sun. All shady.
Black Fox Coffee on Madison Avenue is absolutely gorgeous set inside the lush public garden at 550 Madison, the space feels like an upscale urban oasis. You get European espresso bar vibes with marble and walnut finishes, a glass canopy overhead, and plenty of greenery all around. The latte is just as dreamy as the architecture, beautiful in every way.
I was walking down fifth ave, just enjoying a breezy and summery day, when this beautiful “solarium” looking space caught my eye! I noticed that they had a taco place, coffee shop, and a few other options for dining. I only made a pit stop at Black Fox, but they serve incredibly delicious coffee. I ordered a flat white, which was so creamy and had the perfect ratio of espresso and milk. Their signature lattes also looked amazing. They had very creative recipes, one even including a date latte. I would love to go back! They have so much seating outdoors, and it’s a very clean space with a public restroom right near the coffee shop. I will definitely be going back!
This is my second visited at Black Fox Coffee. They have several locations in Manhattan, but this one feels the most special to me. It’s tucked between two tall buildings, where sunlight comes down through a glass ceiling and gently spreads across the whole garden. The store design doesn’t use sharp corners. Instead, it follows the garden’s soft curves in a smooth, flowing line. The tables and chairs are also placed along the building edges or around plants. The tabletops aren’t made from one solid piece of wood, but rather from narrow wooden slats put together. I guess it’s to prevent cracking or warping from outdoor weather. There’s also a small waterfall in the park, made of tall triangular marble columns. The water flows slowly, sticking close to the stone surface as it moves down. It doesn’t make much sound, so even if you sit nearby, it’s very quiet. Sometimes little sparrows stop by to drink from it. It feels peaceful, like the water has always been there. I ordered a iced Honey Blossom Latte 16oz from the Signature menu. With tax, it came to $9.80. I usually ask the baristas about the beans they use, and honestly, 99.9% of them are happy to share. This time, the beans were called [All Day], mainly used in their lattes. The flavor notes were: Nectarine + Brown Sugar + Smooth. I enjoyed the moment when I was sharing my coffee adventure in NYC with their baristas. It’s a washed coffee from Tolima, Colombia. The first sip gives you a light fruit acidity. I’m not experienced enough to tell exactly what fruit it is without reading the label, but it feels clean and fresh. Then comes the sweetness, a mix of brown sugar and floral honey. It’s soft, balanced, and really enjoyable. Oh, and one last thing. The restroom here is huge and super clean, which makes it a great spot to stay for a while.
This is an awesome coffee shop. You order at a window and sit around in the open garden. There are plenty of seats and you sit amongst fountains and greenery. The area is covered at the top so even if it’s raining you can still essentially sit outdoors and enjoy coffee while it rains. Sebastian from London was our barista. His customer service skills were impeccable. Give this guy a raise! He was unbelievably polite and the coffee he made was amazing. They gave some really unique desserts here like the Tahini Chocolate chip cookie. Prices are also reasonable. Definitely stop here and check it out!
Black Fox Coffee on 70 Pine Street in New York's Financial District, offers a sleek and modern specialty coffee experience. Its welcoming atmosphere makes it an ideal spot for both casual meet-ups and focused work sessions. Another great part is the staff, who are friendly and efficient, adding to the pleasant experience of every visitor. Besides exceptional coffee, they also serve a nice selection of fresh pastries and baked goods from NYC's leading bakeries. Whether you're seeking a strong, bold coffee or a productive environment to work in, Black Fox Coffee caters to both needs. For those in the area looking for some really good coffee, I definitely recommend this place!
Very yummy coffee! We got the butterscotch coffee and the maple pecan and I wish the cups were bigger, it was absolutely amazing and the flavor was so delicious. Staff was kind and coffee was ready quick! It's also under a covered park(ish)/area and next to the NICEST public restroom I've ever been in!
Excellent lattes and prompt service. A little pricey but a nice break from Starbucks. Ordering takes place outdoors and it's takeout only although there are benches and tables in the area.
Beautiful spot for coffee. They have an outdoor seating area that’s very spacious and relaxing. Tried their Iced Vanilla Date Latte, it was good and not too sweet.
My favorite coffee shop when it's warm! Airy open space with nice sound of water trickling. A little on the pricey side though.
Hot chocolate not worth it tbh. Everything was nice and smooth just wanted to rant about the hot chocolate since it just didn't taste good plus its a very small portion
Enjoyed my experience at Black Fox Coffee. The venue is perfectly placed in the city for an idealistic escape. I opted for the Vanilla Date Latte which was flavoured nicely and not overly sweet. The presentation with the cup fitting onto the saucer was a nice touch. I hope to return and try a regular coffee too.
The coffee is too average to justify its price tag ($8 for an iced latte that's $5 everywhere else.) But the seating area is stupendous for Manhattan -- it's open concept, sleek, spacious, public! Next time I'll skip the coffee and bring a packed lunch and beverage instead.
Coffee is decent, the courtyard itself is the best part in warm weather but the croissants are deceptive — they LOOK good and probably did start out amazing from the oven but then they were wrapped in plastic for transport and that just murders them.
$5+ for a small drip coffee. Cofee is good, I can't speak for the food. Service is meh!
I got the vanilla date latte with oat milk and it tasted just like a regular coffee so either the barista forgot to make it special or that it doesn’t taste anything special. A cup of coffee cost was $9.25 which by far one of the mist expensive I’ve paid for 12oz. Outdoor seating / take out only
I wanted to hide from the cold weather for a delicious coffee, but they don't have a warm place, only a booth and tables outside. I won't go there again in winter
It’s the kind of place that can’t manage online orders, even though they promote them as a faster way of doing business. Just don’t tip. They neither earn nor do they appreciate it.**UPDATE** owner reached out with a refund and pledge for good service to go along with their good coffee. Quality move.
Black Fox Coffee, NYC — it’s a mood, but not a sip Walked into Black Fox with curiosity — I’d seen it on a few “best NYC cafés” lists and finally decided to check it out. The interior? Absolutely gorgeous. Minimalist, modern, full of light — the kind of place where you want to slow down, open a book, or just watch the world pass by. So I ordered a vanilla latte. And here’s the thing: I wanted to love it. But the coffee itself just didn’t land for me. It felt overly sweet, muted, and lacked that deep, warm comfort I look for in a great cup. Kind of like when you meet someone beautiful but the conversation doesn’t click. Still polite, still pleasant — just not the connection you expected. The pastry I tried was fine, but small and not memorable. I left a little underwhelmed — and wishing the flavor matched the aesthetics. Why people love this place: the vibe. It’s serene, it’s well-designed, and yes, it looks great on camera. If someone paired this space with a roastery that really knew how to hit the palate? Honestly, it would be iconic. Would I come back? Maybe — to meet someone, to sit and journal, to enjoy the space. But not for the coffee. That said, I respect the effort. I respect the space. And I hope they keep evolving. — Ilya #RecommendsTheAtmosphere #NotTheLatte #CyborgTastesNYC #CoffeeJournal #BlackFoxReview
Place is mediocre at best. Coffee is very sour not good at all. Employees are not very patient and very blah. Came on a Sunday afternoon and it’s a guy working and he’s either annoyed with something or he just doesn’t seem to care. He place 0 effort in making our coffee it tasted so bad. When we asked him if we can switch for something else. Maybe from a latte to cappuccino, he said we needed to pay even though I showed the cup is full and only took 2 sips. There’s a reason why the courtyard is packed with people drinking coffee from elsewhere.
Worst latte I’ve ever had. It didn’t even taste like espresso was in it. Just milk and syrup
Heard about this chain for quite a while and been wanted to try. And when you charged 8+ dollars for a regular large latte, with regular milk, single shot of espresso (not 100% sure but definitely taste like it) and no other fancy flavor added, I expected a lot I have to admit. But the barista just hand me a cup with 1/3 of milk foam, and let alone any latte art whatsoever, I just can’t justify the price I paid. I guess NYC coffee bar is just going way down 😐
This is the first time I ever had to pay $6 for a cup of coffee. On my way to work I passed by and saw this place, ordered a cup. I was shocked at the price to say the least! I did not want to be late, so I just took it and left. I will never come back! This is either greed or I am cheap. If that's the case, then many coffee living New Yorkers such as myself will now not mind being called that. They even had the nerve to wish me "good luck out there" on the receipt! Good for being ripped off? By the way the coffee was really average. Gregorys coffee is much better.
No iñgles?? I ordered the awefull "Daily Greens" and a bottle of water. I got the juice and some sort of coffee. Tasted both not very good. Wouldnt recommend to order from here, but the Place is very nice to chill though.
