I ordered the Talavera Breakfast Combination, which lets you choose your preferred omelette. I went with the La Espadaña Omelette, filled with mushrooms, green pepper slices, jack cheese, and ham, then topped with their signature chipotle cream sauce. It’s served with chilaquiles, your choice of sauce; I chose the poblano. It also comes with a generous side of potatoes and beans. The portions were huge and everything was absolutely delicious. I even had enough to take home. The restaurant was clean and well-kept, and the staff were friendly and attentive. It’s definitely worth a visit. Although there was a waitlist, we only waited about 25 minutes.

Had the green sauce chicken Enchiladas... was exactly what I was looking for! Guaranteed authentic, I wasn't too sure about the beans, but the rest of the food made up for it. They sat a party of 8 for breakfast, because we got there early. Today we tried reserving a table for 5 this morning, but no luck. We ended standing outside for over 1 hour. They really need to fix that issue.

Some of the best Mexican breakfast we've had! We both got chilaquiles since it's what they're known for: one with Chipotle sauce and one with the traditional red chilaquiles sauce. Super delicious food, great environment, excellent service; highly recommend! Just beware that it's super popular, so the line can get pretty long, but it's well worth the wait!

Always excellent and great value. Be prepared to wait to be seated up to one hour sometimes. Owner is always present. Café de olla is delicious, generous portions. Landmark spot in Chula.

Awesome 👌🏼 spot for breakfast ❤️. The Pablano sauce w/beef and the huevos con chorizo(corn tortilla, of course)...... wow! Coffee was not to my taste(you can try if you want), but Jamaica Agua Fresca muy bien. I hope you enjoy the good food as much as I did.

Food wise, it is very delicious!!! A couple of complaints are that waiting for Jamaica took a little longer than other drinks at that time! It seemed like the food we ordered came after some people that came after us as well. The food service may be dependent on what we had ordered at the time. Overall, it was quite nice and seemed like we got there at the right time as there were about 20-25 people outside waiting after us. The place is decorated in blue and white with certain pops of color from time to time, and it did give a nice Casita feel to it. Nonetheless, it was quite nice once we got to sit down( around 9:50 a.m.)! I ordered the Chilaquiles Poblano and the flavor was phenomenal! My significant other ordered the Machaca Ranchero and the meat was flavorful and JUICY!!! That's a hard part to nail so I greatly appreciated that. I would say, if you have some time to spend. Spend it there and enjoy a great meal! Highly recommend!!!

This place was extraordinary! It's artistic Mexican themed environment gives you a welcoming at home vibe! I've only been there twice now, but was not disappointed with the food!! The flavors are authentic and the quality is impressive!! Portions are just the right size!! Had an excellent server the first time, wish i would have asked her name, second time the 2nd server not as friendly but decent! Only problem is this place is always crowded! Which tells you how amazing they are. Just go with patience knowing you will wait a bit, but the experience makes it worth it!!

Nice cozy place with a Mexican atmosphere. Great food quality and excellent customer service. The wait is usually about 30 min but it’s understandable because there Is a limited amount of space for patrons. The omelets are a great option for breakfast since the have a lot of different ingredients and sauces for them. I love the Punos you must try them ! Always a good experience.

Wow. Wow . Wow.. it can't get more authentic than this place.. food was delicious.. service on point incredible.. guys beware the portions are big i truly think one plate serves 2... But i have to be honest the 9nly reason I rated this place 4 starts is du to parking was terrible and the wait to get a table .. once your 8nside 5 stars all the way

We've been here a few times now and it's one of the places we can take my Mexican MIL that she's always happy. Wait gets long later in the morning, so coming closer to 8 is recommended. All of the food we've tried so far is very good. My recommendation is the half omelette with side of chilaqiles. They have a table salsa they bring out, but if you're okay with spice ask about the habanero salsa - it's really good. The café de olla is a bit on the sweet side. They also have pretty affordable mimosas. Everything we've tried has been great, and the costs are fairly reasonable compared to other breakfast places in San Diego. The only drawbacks are that it's very hot in there most days and also very loud. The bathroom is nice and clean and accessible!

Usually a great experience. This last visit didn't meet their standards. Staff seemed rushed which translated to a rushed experience while ordering. The noise level was on high, making conversations difficult (they should add some fabrics to dampen the noise). The food seemed to have changed, perhaps the chef? Ordered molletes and they were very soft, almost mushy. Ordered the poblano chilaquiles with chicken... Nothing extraordinary. Orange juice was fresh and tasted very good, café de la olla was pure piloncillo. Again they may have changed cooks but the exoerience felt oddly off this visit. Perhaps these reviews will help steer them back

So I've heard a lot of this place and after seeing it on food network we've been wanting to visit and finally got the opportunity on Saturday the 26th. As usual there was a line out the door to get in and we were told we had about a 30 minute wait. That wait turned into about 45 minutes.......once we were finally seated I noticed they were obviously pretty busy and it took a little for someone to actually come over and take our order. I ordered the chicken enchiladas and my fiancé ordered the chilaquiles both in green sauce. We also ordered the kids quesadilla for my daughter. The quesadilla came out right away which was nice and my daughter dug in, she really enjoyed it. Now we sat there talking amongst ourselves as my daughter ate and we waited for our food. And I can't specifically say how long it took but my daughter, watching videos on my phone finished her meal before our ever came out. When the food arrived my enchiladas looked great and I'll say that the flavors on top of the dish....sauce, the cotija, the pickled onions were absolutely delicious. The issue I had and I know it sounds weird to say there was "too much" chicken but the chicken tasted very bland so with as much as they had in the enchiladas, you got that initial great flavor and after a couple chews it got completely lost in the bland chicken. But still a good dish. The chilaquiles which I did sample were much better in my opinion. All this great flavors I spoke of were not dulled immediately. Also a note, I ordered the limonada and that drink was the most sour lemonade I've ever drank. It gave you that burn in your chest if you drank too much of it. I noticed another gentleman had also ordered it and was cutting it with water every sip he took. Overall pretty good food, but considering the wait both outside and inside the restaurant I'll satisfy my enchilada cravings somewhere else.

Talavera Azul is in a prime location, right on the main strip of downtown Chula Vista, just by the big sign. It’s in a lively area with plenty of street parking, and there’s also a huge free parking garage right by the park, which makes parking super convenient. The park itself adds to the aesthetic beauty of the location—you can look out the restaurant windows and see the bright greenery, which makes for a really pleasant atmosphere while you eat. The inside of the restaurant is unique and nicely designed. It’s bright, clean, and mostly white, but the touches of ceramic blue throughout give it a stylish and inviting feel. You can tell they put thought into the décor, which adds to the experience. One thing to note—this place is popular. It’s always busy, and if you come with a party of three or more, expect a long wait. I had to wait about 40 minutes, but I’ve heard that at peak times, it can be even longer. They do have some seating outside, which helps a bit, but if you’re in a hurry, this might not be the spot for you. The staff is friendly, but they are constantly on the move, so don’t expect much personal attention. As for the food, I ordered the Chilaquiles Divorciados, which I always like to see on a menu. It’s great for a first-time visit because you get to try two different styles of chilaquiles. Both were tasty and authentic, but I wouldn’t say they blew me away. I’ve definitely had better chilaquiles in San Diego. The café de olla was okay, but it didn’t wow me. I’ve had richer, more flavorful versions elsewhere. Overall, Talavera Azul is a solid spot, especially if you’re in the area and looking for an authentic Mexican breakfast or brunch. The location, ambiance, and food are all good, but with the long wait times and food that didn’t quite stand out, I wouldn’t necessarily go out of my way for it again.

We went there for the first time ever, but our customer service was awful. We waited quite awhile to place our orders. We had to ask to order drinks. When the waiter finally came to take our order I told him that we would have a split check and he said we were not allowed to do that and that his computer system was weird on doing that. I told him that we were two separate parties but he said you are at one table. Honestly I thought the whole thing was ridiculous. So we ordered and he said just to tell him what amount we wanted to pay on each card. Well isn’t that a split payment?? Okay After the brought our food no one came back to check on us or offer refills extra napkins etc. The restaurant was very small. I feel this place is overhyped honestly. I’m not sure who the man was helping us was I think his name was Omar he needs to leave his attitude at home and get some more training in being friendly, courteous, and tend to his tables better. I probably will not be returning based on this awful experience. Thank you for your time.
