In March my wife and I came here as a way to celebrate right before our baby was going to be born. While my wife had been to this location before, I only had been to the Saratoga Springs location before this. Booking our online reservation, my wife had mentioned why we were there since we wanted to make sure the seat would be comfy to someone who is 9+ months pregnant and also how Wheatfields is a very significant part of our relationship (starting with how our first date ever was at the Saratoga Springs location). The staff was so excited to serve us and even handed us a mocktail list right away and were truly shown how much we were appreciated and celebrated throughout the dinner. We look forward to taking our baby here when she is a little older!
Loved the Clifton Park location! Food was beyond good, staff was friendly, atmosphere very modern. Had the personal pepperoni pizza, delicious with high quality ingredients. Oven fired, outstanding cheeses. Highly recommend trying this restaurant. Saratoga location was was an excellent experience.
Supporting local business is important during these difficult times, so when I saw Wheatfields created a delivery service using their own employees I was eager to try it. Now I'm wondering why I waited so long, the food was delicious. I ordered a family meal with Lasagna as the entree , linguine with Alfredo, a market salad and bread. The linguine really stood out to me. The noodles were perfectly cooked and probably the best I've ever had. The house dressing was well balanced and my only complaint about the whole meal was I wish there was more garlic butter. The delivery and service I received was excellent, considering our current crisis and being Mother's day weekend. I placed my order early and it arrived on time. It was well packaged and had a lovely note in the side expressing their appreciation for my business. Honestly, I appreciate them more. I'm immune compromised and Wheatfields helped me have the best Mother's day weekend I could have wished for. They will continue to have my business and I look forward to dining inside once our current crisis is over.
First time visiting yet is been on my doorstep all this time. Great vibe and easy to book opentable. Good menu at fair price. Fast service. Enjoyable night
Happy Hour on New Years Eve. Great prices. Loved the Margherita pizza. So good. Half price drinks.
Had a delightful three course meal for two people with alcoholic drinks. If we didn't get the drinks it would be closer to $50. The pasta is amazing. The dessert is to die for. The wait staff is very nice and paid close attention to us. We were dining outside and it was beautiful.
Matt, our waiter, was so attentive, professional, and kind. Everyone enjoyed their meal. My dad even enjoyed the popett, which surprised us all as he is NOT one to try different things. My Mom's birthday was celebrated, which added to the atmosphere. Definitely will return in the future!!
Order was wrong, ordered stacked eggplant and got eggplant rolatini but it was good
A great place for Sunday brunch. The food was very good. My only suggestion to them was that they offer a spicy and non spicy hash brown selection. The potatoes were quite hot and several of us were surprised and unable to eat them. It was not mentioned on the menu. Price were average, service was very good, good parking and handicapped accessible. I will definitely return.
Loved the atmosphere at Wheatfields when I was there for dinner recently. My server Sara made the evening even better. She was so attentive to our needs and made sure that we were always very well taken care of. For excellent food and superior customer service I highly recommend you eat here! Desserts were yummy too!
Wow....I had never been to Wheatfields before and they totally impressed me. I was here to conduct an interview and both the candidate and I ordered salads. Both came out really quickly. They were beautifully presented, fresh, clean and delicious. The service was attentive, while not intrusive. I then conducted another meeting and never once got a sideways glance for tying up a table for so long. The ambiance was lovely too...we sat right near the fireplace on the comfy sofas. It was great. Looking forward to my next trip to the Albany area when I will definitely set up camp at Wheatfields! Thanks to everyone there for the wonderful service and terrific atmosphere.
A double birthday celebration lunch, our server, Brielle, was welcoming, knowledgeable about the menu and made excellent recommendations. Atmosphere is comfortable and well maintained, there are several dining areas and a bar. The food selections offer something for everyone.
My bf and I love going here for special occasions. Their wine list is extensive and the food is delicious, all made in-house with fresh ingredients. The service is always great, waitstaff are happy to give recommendations on wine and food pairings. A bit on the pricey side but well worth the splurge for the quality that is received.
Kelly was amazing. They overheard it was my birthday and went above and beyond. Can’t ask for more.
Sunday Brunch is great here! Good choices including unlimited mimosas . Shrimp Omelette was large and fresh. Full bar available with unlimited mimosas. London was our server and was very friendly - smiling - continually checking on us. London let me order a latte even though it isn't specifically listed on the brunch menu. She went out of her way to make sure our brunch was perfect. Vegan options are popular and well thought out. We've been here several times for Sunday brunch and will be back! Thank you London for being so kind and welcoming - making sure everything was perfect!
Billy makes amazing pizza, Laura has such a great vibe and Will at the bar is the man!
We just recently visited Wheatfields in Clifton Park on Friday, and Sara was our server. We had a great experience and really enjoyed the food. I had the steak dinner and my partner had the Chicken. Now-a-days you don't often find good food and good service, all in one night. I have to say our waitress Sara went above and beyond, and exceeded our expectations. We will def. be returning as it is hard to find a great dining experience these days !!!!!!!!!
A nice place to grab a drink and enjoy good happy hour prices. The bartenders are very friendly and it’s to sit at the bar and watch the guys work their magic making these delicious pizzas. The best wood fired pizza in town.
It was hard for me to eat at a place with wheat in its name. I have celiac. (Must have a very strict gluten-free diet). I tried the gluten-free pizza, with the cauliflower crust, suggested by my very helpful waitress. It was delicious and more important to me, I didn't get sick. Thank you and I will be back 😊
I don't typically take the time to write reviews. However, this was not a typical dining experience. My family and I made reservations at the Clifton Park location, during the holiday season. We couldn't have been more pleased with the service and how well our food was prepared for how busy it was. Our server, who I believe said her name was Sara-Ashley couldn't have made our night out any better! We were immediately greeted with a smile from her after being seated. Sara did a great job explaining the menu to the kids and even made some suggestions. Throughout the entire night she made sure we were taken care of and happy with our meal. We have never met a server with such energy and pride in her work. Thank you so much to everyone who made our hectic night a little less stressful. Sara-Ashley, you deserve a raise! Wheatfields management - never let this one go! Best Wishes, The Dunn Family
Hosted a holiday gift swap gathering for Sunday Brunch. We had the back room with fireplace and Tv going. The red curtains provided privacy and the tables were decorated with lovely holiday inspired candles. I absolutely can’t say enough about Max who served our whole party of 20 women. Max was professional and always had a smile when we needed some changes made for seating, gift table ,and dietary restrictions. Max truly made it a comfortable and enjoyable celebration. The food was great. Everyone loved it. Would highly recommend for intimate gathering.
Their homemade pasta and sauce is amazing! We went here for dinner and absolutely everything. We had the meatball trio for an appetizer and for our mains we got chicken riggi and the shrimp and spinach. Everything was great! We were happy to find out that we could buy their sauce and fresh pasta to bring home and cook up another day!
For the second year we chose Wheatfields for our annual delegates dinner. As before Brielle was super accommodating. The service was amazing her staff gives service with a smile a new meaning. The food was excellent from starters to desert. Looking forward to next years meal.
Our waitress was curious friendly and checked on us frequently. My husband's Lasagna was excellent. I had chicken marsala . Chicken was great but would have preferred thinner spaghetti with my dinner. Next time I will ask for other pasta options. Would recommend place highly. Nice atmosphere and fireplace.
What a fantastic gem in an unusual location! The clock tower strip mall! Big Lots on one end, Kohls at the other and a bunch of storefronts in between. One of them a great restaurant called Wheatfields!! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting and we were made to feel welcome. The staff- The hostess was very nice. Our waitress (and her shadow in training) were also very friendly and knowledgeable. They checked on us regularly but not so much that it was annoying. There was also someone walking around, whom I presumed to be the manager, checking to make sure everything was to our liking. That's something that you don't see anymore. The food- A from scratch kitchen that can make accommodate just about any food allergies! My wife had absolutely no issues afterwards! To say that the food was good is such an understatement! It was so delicious! The price - Dinner for two with 3 alcoholic drinks and an appetizer was about $150. It's a little pricey, but in my opinion it's on par for the style restaurant. It's a great place for a date night!
The food is fantastic, the service is fantastic and always a great experience. Their pasta is tasty, and we love the meatballs! Their chopped salad is the best in upstate as well. The prices are well worth it.
We got the Linguine and Clams, the bruschetta, pesto raddiatore, and the tiramisu. Everything was excellently prepared, very fresh vegetables and pasta, and all the ingredients tasted so amazingly put together. I would definitely recommend this place to anybody, even if you don’t enjoy Italian food. Our waitress was also very sweet and nice, very attentive and funny. The hosts were also very polite. The atmosphere was quiet and a little dim, but overall just relaxing and a welcoming place. Best Italian food in Clifton Park by far!
I ordered the Flatbread special, as a pizza, they made the Flatbread by accident and gave me both the Flatbread and the pizza... that type of service has been my experience every time I've eaten here. In fact this time I was visiting from my current home in GA because when Iived here in NY the food and service were always great and it was validated again today. Great place to eat and the staff is tip notch.
Laura was wonderful! So friendly accommodating to our needs gave us a perfect experience we had a cheeseburger and Bruschetta pizza so yummy!
Delicious food, wonderful atmosphere & great staff. The eggplant rollatini and tiramisu were both sooo good!! ❤️😁
If I could give 6 stars for service I would. Matthew was very attentive, and the food came out surprisingly quickly. The attention to detail in the food was great. The truffle fries had a perfect crisp and balanced seasoning. We enjoyed that the linguine with clams included chopped clams in the sauce in addition to the fresh clams on top, so the flavor spread throughout the dish. The homemade pasta was delicious. The specialty cocktails we tried were creative, delicious, well composed, and balanced. We both ordered from their homemade desserts. The creme brulee was just shy of perfect. The mousse was a rich, dark chocolate flavor and was delightful. We loved the quiet atmosphere. The layout allows for a slightly more private dining experience, as the room is broken up into separate spaces. All in all a great experience, we will be back.
Wheatfields is great place for gluten free pasta it's off the hook and the staff are the salt of the earth 5 stars
My husband & I love their happy hour and sat at the bar. They have a platter of cheese & crackers out for the patrons. The bartender, Laura, is delightful! She's so friendly and makes a mean cocktail. I had the Bruschetta Baked Cod and sub'd in spinach for the pasta. Great dish and the spinach was to cooked to perfection! (Hard to do). He had the Cheddar Burger on Toasted Brioche with Trufffle Fries. Man, that was good too! Atmosphere is great - they always pipe feel good music in. Will definitely be back soon!
Our friends ordered the fried calamari appetizer. That stole the show. It was tender, crispy, and full of flavor. I had the chicken parm which was perfect. Crispy, tender, not too much sauce, not too little cheese. Amazing! Even though the Brussel sprouts were fine, I felt like they lacked seasoning and would have been so much better roasted, but I believe that is just a matter of preference. Service was great, and I would totally eat here again!
The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating which made our visit very enjoyable. We thoroughly enjoyed our antipasto and margarita pizza, everything was great!
I came here for dinner with my family and it was amazing! This was the best Italian restaurant I have ever been to. I got Mac and cheese, not sure if that’s what it’s called on the menu but it was 11/10. They make the pasta here fresh so it was unlike anything else I’ve ever had. We also got the truffle fries minus the truffle for an appetizer and they were some of the best fries I’ve ever had. Our server was very kind, knowledgeable, and attentive. I would recommend this place to anyone and will definitely be back again!
Chicken Parm was delicious, service was exceptional, and the hostess on Friday was stunningly gorgeous.
What a wonderful place this was to eat. The menu wasn't very big but the food was absolutely outstanding. And the service was impeccable. Incredibly nice staff from the time you get there until the time you leave. This was my first time there and I will definitely be going back. A great big thanks to Wheatfields for a lovely night!
my wife and i were up in the albany area for the day, we finished early and decided to get some lunch/ early dinner. we decided to eat at wheatfield's as we had eaten there with my brother years ago. kelly was our server, so polite and friendly. there was an issue with their soda machine, which she apolgized and got us a replacement beverage. my wife had the flatbread special, very nice. i had the marsala, something i compare against any resturant that offers it on their menu. it was high up on my list! the chicken was cooked perfectly, tender and seasoned. the pasta was their version of linguine, i likened them to udon noodles, they were quite delicious. the sauce was absolutley fantastic, marsala seasoned with all the herbs and garlic and mushrooms. i don't usually go over to the chef and comment, only when my food is that impressive. i thanked them and highly recommend this resturant. great meal and a great experience.
Wheatfields nailed their menu with Saratoga restaurant week! 5 star service and the menu specials rivals any fine dining within the area. Thank you for such an amazing experience and we will absolutely be back for more.
The Restaurant Week Pan Seared Red Snapper was absolutely delicious. The arugula and beet risotto was perfect. I would go back to get it again. The service couldn't be better.
Wheatfields makes their own pasta. They have 3 gluten-free options for pasta which is just unheard of for most restaurants. I ordered the shrimp and spinach dish on gluten-free linguine. It was savory and absolutely delicious. We love their truffle fries so we ordered those too and they were as good as I remembered. They come with garlic aoli sauce. The atmosphere is nice with a couple of fireplaces located in the restaurant. There are booths and open tables. There is also a bar and it has seating but I don't know if you can order food from there. My husband got the caramel crunch cake for dessert and he loved it. It was a nice, quiet experience with good food and our server was fantastic.
Haven’t been here in a while and was reminded what a beautiful establishment this is. Food was very good, exvellent service and great specialty drinks! Brought a friend here for her birthday, And we had a great time. I’ll be back soon!
Great for date night. If you're craving carbs, you can't go wrong with the house bread or ricotta spread. Drinks are worth their price, they don't skimp out. Clamp and linguine is a little pricey but the homemade pasta is yummy. Outdoor patio is warmed with heaters. Live music too!
Out of town visit, so first time here for me. Casual, comfortable atmosphere with a friendly vibe. Fireplace and piano we're just right. Service was meticulous, Sarah-Ashley* is a rockstar, and is worth requesting. Great pour on drinks, appetizers of whipped Ricotta with a dash of lemon...perfect starter w/ their house bread. Nice selection of salads, homemade pastas and mains. Love the candor on what is made in-house to direct our menu selections. Our meals were eggplant rollatini which was fresh and plentiful w/ broc rabe. Also, chicken milanese was a hit. Amazing selection of desserts which we passed on. This is a regular stop for my friends, and it is easy to see why.
The atmosphere was warm and pleasant, it wasn't to loud where we had to talk over people. The service was attentive and average with no complaints. It was my birthday so they gave me a cake and candle and didn't embarrass me by singing happy birthday 🎈 the food overall was delicious, the temperature on the stuffed shells was Luke warm and the filling was a little disappointing. The sweet and sour calamari was delicious and was cooked perfectly. I got the pork chops dish and it was cooked perfectly, very juicy. The mashed potatoes were a little salty but the overall I enjoyed it and would order it again. The chocolate mousse was delicious and I highly recommend it. Overall it's a great family restaurant with high quality food and service. I was even given fresh handmade pasta and sauce on the house so I'm very pleased with the entire experience. The bill for 4 people with appetizers, drinks, entrees and dessert was under $250 so it's reasonably priced too with a variety of selections.
Ambiance , food and service were great. Our Waitress was very pleasant, warm, helpful and delightful. Thank you Kelly!!. We had a table if 12, I got the pizza in my opinion it could of been hotter temperature wise but I'm guessing it was due to the large table. All in all I was quite satisfied.
Go here often, good Italian food at a family price. Love their family meals to go as well. Have gone here multiple times for Sunday brunch. Good food. Love their breakfast pizza.Pizza. London W. was out waitstaff and did a great job. Back again, I got the Frittata special. Found that and the Omelets a bit too dry. Next time, I am going to stick with the breakfast pizza.
A group of about 40 of us gathered together in the private room today after a funeral. We had a truly great experience here, considering the circumstances. First, the food was delicious. Our orders were staggered, as each person put theirs in as they arrived. We shared pepperoni pizzas that were split up among all of us at the table absolutely delicious! Great sauce, and the cheese was perfect. My Caesar salad arrived fairly quickly after I put my order in. Huge portion and just the right amount of dressing (actually hard to do, I often get ones that are either dry or drenched). Finally, I split the Chicken Marsala and the Chicken Milanese with the hubby. Loved the Milanese - thin and crispy chicken with a light sauce, very good. Marsala also delicious - 2 huge pieces of chicken and lots of pasta. Sauce was more wine than sweet, so everyone's opinion will be different, depending upon how you like your Marsala sauce. This was the perfect space for a small gathering. There was plenty of room for all, and didn't feel crowded at all. It felt like we were in a restaurant by ourselves. Finally, the waitstaff was terrific. They easily handled the ebb and flow of people coming in and ordering at different times. Food was brought out hot and drinks refilled regularly. They were all so friendly, courteous, and helpful. I would highly recommend this place for both a regular dining out experience and a small gathering.
Was there today for lunch. It was freezing inside. Everyone had to keep their coats on. There was a space heater next to us, but did not generate enough heat in that large of a space. Only cold water in washrooms to wash your hands as well…water never got hot. Server was attentive. Food was good.
Had a reservation and was seated on time. My party said the drinks were excellent. Service was great. Food was good Would go again with family. 6/15/23 -Had dinner tonight and it's still very good food, our server was excellent I didn't mention this before, but I think the place is just too dark, makes reading the menu hard. However I will be back!
We ordered the wraps and the Ceaser one was a bit dry, the Italian one was perfect! The Teramisu was incredible! Definitely order that!!!
I have been to them a few times... I like to try different things each time I go... this venture was the fries and meatballs... Fries and the aioli was great... good flavor and they were nice and crispy... Meatballs... unfortunately, wish I got something different... 😕 bland in flavor... no garlic, no taste... just plain ole meat in the shape of a ball... the marinara was ok... Alfredo was ehh... will try different things next time I pop in... the wait staff was great... highly knowledgeable about everything on the menu... very helpful with everything... Thanks again...
Service was amazing. The atmosphere is nice, but it was cold in out area. Food was not as good as it usually is. The Salmon was good. . My friends Cesar wrap was good The calamari was Very salty. Did not hardly eat any of it The arancini was well cooked but bland. Usually much better. I will say the food is usually amazing. Sadly this time not as much.
First time, had heard good things. Ordered takeout. Food was not ready when i was told it would be. I had to ask twice for an update. A "I'm sorry, it's going to be 10-20 minutes" would have been helpful. Or, you know, any response after "I will go check on your food" from the hostess. The restaraunt was loud - but, it is a bar, so maybe i should have expected that. Food was excellent. Will likely try again sometime....
The wait staff are very friendly and attentive every time I go there. I have gluten and tree nut allergies and they are so accommodating for them. The food tastes good and I don't leave with stomach pains afterwords from "bad oils" or soy products either like some restaurants use. I have had the Chicken Marsala and the Chicken Milanese and both are good. The booths in the back are super comfy and great for a close date night.
Went here to celebrate our 20th anniversary. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. Restaurant was pretty empty with a lot of open tables. We were given a small, two seated table by the door which is typically a terrible a table for any establishment. The food was very good and the server was attentive. The furniture is run down and worn. The place is pretty dirty and dusty. Food was good enough to go back but I'll probably try the Saratoga location over Clifton Park.
I would give three stars but given my previous experiences with Wheatfields I will give it four stars. Every other visit, save today, has been exceptional, and on every occasion, including today, the food has been exceptional. What makes today different is the service and the cleanliness of where we were seated. Upon entering we waited nearly five minutes to be seated, and the privacy glass where we were seated was stained with grease and pasta sauce, which could probably be cleaned nightly. Our server also acted very curt towards us, as though we were inconveniencing him. Had it not been for our exceptional previous visits I would give a three star rating, but I am hoping that what we experienced with the service was a fluke. However, as I mentioned, exceptional food on several occasions, and I would recommend a visit.
It was nice. Service was very poor. Waiter had us waiting an extremely long time to order. There were 4 tables occupied, our table was the only one he was waiting on that I saw. The food was decent but extremely pricey. It was a nice Sunday lunch but I don't think we will eat here again.
Very disappointed with Wheatfields recntly. The food hasnt been consistent. We used to come all the time before I had my son. My Husband and I have always given them good reviews and we have always suggested them to others. We brought family here months ago and had some disappointed family. Embarrassing when you rant and rave and it's not consistent. The prices have gone up lately, which is "understandable" because of the current market, but the food should be consistent regardless of the market. My husband has taken me out a few times since and it's been inconsistent. He took me a few weeks ago with our son. My food was pretty good but his was not. He normally gets Chicken Riggis everywhere he can but decided to try their Mac and cheese (I've ordered in the past and it was great) and he added shrimp. It was like a bad cheese soup with literally crumbled Ritz crackers (and not good ones). Our waiter never came back to check on us (granted he was young, looked barely, he's learning). Since my husband and I wouldn't eat it, he ended up eating half my meal and some of our sons. Server finally came and asked about left overs and my husband told him it was "gross" he rarley complains about food and I could tell he was upset but didn't want to make a scene or upset the kid. Kid brought the check and never took the full bowl of soup off. 26$ bowl of left over cheese soup with some macaroni type noodles. I want so bad to keep suggesting them but I can't right now.
Was not a fan of their take on linguini. It looks like a plate of worms and the outer layers of the noodles were overcooked and mushy while the inside was too al dente. Im confused how they even accomplished that. The sauce was nice and fresh but could have used some seasoning. The accompanying chicken breast was good though. The bread was good but we were not given a proper knife to slice it and the butter knives could not cut through the crust so we just had to rip pieces off. For the money I'd go elsewhere like pasta pane
The atmosphere is great and we had good service, however, the food is extremely inconsistent. I’ll start with the food, my husband got eggplant parm and he really liked his meal. I ordered the cod with angel hair and it was simply horrible. The fish had no flavor not even salt, and the paste had extremely lemony and acidic flavor with no balance, it was honestly hard to eat. My husband tried it and thought it was too much lemon and acidity as well. I would stay away from the cod dish.
Wanted to like this place, but the food was just blah. There were four of us and we all agreed that it wasn’t a “wow” meal. The waitress was very nice, but not attentive. The lemon drop tastes like over sweet lemonade and the pesto salmon was way over seasoned. Tiramisu cake was good, hence the three star rating. Nice atmosphere, but most likely will not return.
Edit: Very disappointed with Wheatfields as of late. I feel the food has been so so and the prices have been high as of late. I understand the price increase because of the current market, but the food should be consistent regardless of the market. My wife and I have gone a few times over the past couple of months and haven't been as impressed as I once was. Went there recently and sat on the patiowith my wife and our little one. I decided to get the "Mac" and added shrimp. 26$ for a goopy "cheese" soup with a little bit of noodles and a couple of shrimp. It was supposed to have breadctumbs and they were definitely some sort of processed garlicky Ritz cracker. It didn't taste good at all. The server (you could tell he was young, new and shy) didn't come back to see how the food was and I refused to eat it. Well I was forced to share my wife and son's dish since I was hungry... When he finally came back it was time for the check. He asked if I needed a box, I told him I didn't want a box and that it was gross. He offered no compensation. Disappointed because I ate most of their dishes and there was barely any left overs for them. 100$ for a lunch that I didn't enjoy. As you can see in my pictures and reviews in the past. I always loved their "Mac". My wife and I go here often enough to where we can say they are consistent. They have a great happy hour. BOGO drinks, half price apps. Very good variety for the happy hour Some of the apps are "mini" but they are a good sized item for the price. One of my favorite menu items is the spaghetti and meatballs. I'm not even a huge spaghetti fan I prefer rigatoni, penne, cavatappi ect... The spaghetti is so fresh. You can tell they home make their pasta. The spaghetti is a great thickness, perfect texture, perfectly al dente. My wife's favorite is the lobster mac and again the pasta is so fresh. The lobster is shredded a lot like lump crab. The mac sauce is very good. We had brunch here last Sunday and it was very intimate. We had a drink, grabbed a few brunch items, talked and listened to the pianist play. Wish there were more places like this. The south has places like this all over. We have gone several times in the summer and its great to sit on the patio and have dinner and a few adult beverages. Again, I wish there was more places like this. Just wish they had their own property rather than the shopping plaza, that's my only gripe. Cant wait to go back. Thanks.
We got calamari for an app, that was tasty, both got just basic wraps for main, one with pasta salad, one with fries, love the aioli they have. My wife got a white sangria drink that looked pretty good as well. Overall decent
It's nice, upscale, fresh food, good service.... but nothing I've ever eaten here has made me go "Oh wow, that's delicious." I like an al dente pasta - there's is overcooked in my opinion. The sausage is pretty good. Chicken parm, pretty good. Nothing wowed me though and for the pricetag....I want to be wowed.
Our waitress was very cordial, accommodating worked as quickly as she could. There were 20 in our party. My chicken parm was mediocre , but my husband raved about his calamari. He said it was the best calamari he’s ever had. It took the kitchen staff a very long time to prepare our food. When mine came out, the spaghetti and mariniara sauce and pasta were about room temperature. I prefer my food to be served hot.The chicken was breaded and cooked to perfection. The pasta was wide spaghetti. The sauce was plain, not seasoned well and tasted lii I me it came out of a 10 gallon can. We weren’t served bread or a salad with dinner, but were told we could buy them.
A new waiter but attentive. I asked questions and he was not sure but checked with kitchen. My partner ordered the Mac and cheese with sausage and all was going good until a fly landed in his bowl. I ordered Caesar salad and romaine crisp, croutons not soggy but if you are looking for authentic Caesar this is not it. Not swimming in a weak dressing but not a very good Parmesan flavor, more an oil/vinegar base. First meal delivered to me was the wrong one. I had asked for a spinach linguine with Parmesan and got spaghetti with fresh spinach and a very weak thin sauce that did not taste like fresh Parmesan. Could not finish my meal.
Stopped in because we were in Clifton park and have frequented Wheatfields on Broadway in Saratoga . Welp , not good 2 pizzas 1-fig , prosciutto, goat cheese . Not edible there was no way this was made fresh and overloaded with Goat Cheese and as dry as a dessert. Our Waitress said no problem I’ll notify the manager and will take it off the bill. They did , but you would think that the Manager would have stopped by to ask . Anyway not a good experience
Service was awesome and very friendly. However like other reviews, the alfredo sauce was not good at all. There was no taste, and it did have a sweet aftertaste for some reason, like nutmeg. Because I could not taste cheese in the sauce, I added parmesan, salt and pepper to try and help. I was full of heavy cream sauce after a few bites so didn't feel the need to order something different. The time before I had a cheeseburger ordered medium, but was very overcooked (hard even). I think two times is the charm for me and won't return. This is not the Wheatfield's of years past as far as the food quality/taste for sure. I would give the service 5 stars for us both times but the food only 1. I see others have had better experience so perhaps other menu items are better.
Recently went here with a group of 14 people and was disappointed. Our waitress, Sarah was fantastic and made the experience very pleasant but the manager and kitchen staff were not up to the standards I have come to expect when dining here. Sarah handled our table plus other tables and did so with professionalism, humor and grace. She was clearly busy but took time for us and all the problems. A lot of the dishes came out incorrect, not cooked properly or had, like mine, been sitting under a heat lamp for a long time. My crab mac and cheese was good but slightly dry on top from being under the heat lamp too long. One of our party sent back her salmon twice for not being done and never received it until the rest of us were done eating and ready to walk out the door. Special requests for gluten free or wheat pasta were ignored by the kitchen staff, it was just lucky those requests were preferences and not because of allergies or health reasons. The first round of drinks came out fine but those that ordered a second time had drinks in much smaller glasses and were charged the same amount as the larger ones which isn't right and it took a long time and severeal attempts to get the prices corrected. I've been to both Wheatfields locations in the past and have been really impressed before but this time was a total let down and for the price of the food I expected more.
Went to Mother’s Day brunch today. Reservations at 10:30 am. We all arrived a few minutes apart and were all seated by 10:40. Waitress indicated they were on the clock to flip the table so the food orders needed to be in ASAP. We indicated our reservations were for 10:30 and the waitress replied ‘oh, I thought your reservations were for 10:15’. Waitress then was being overly nice to make up for the ‘on the clock’ comment. Just left a bad taste in my mouth. I’ve never been ‘put on the clock’ in a restaurant before. Particularly when I’ve only been sitting for 10 minutes. Meanwhile the food took 50 minutes to come out after we ordered. Anyway, won’t be back.
Ordered 2 family take out for Mother's Day. The chicken Parm was a good size portion and flavorful. The chicken Marsala was 4 small pieces but tasted ok. It was half the size of the Parm. Now to the problem pasta came plain with a tiny cup of sauce. Why would you have plain pasta to go so when you get it home you have to mix everything? Also the last time everything came in tins and was a good amount of food now you salad and pasta come in a small plastic container. Please explain
A group of us went to eat around 7:30 p.m on a Saturday night, not busy there when we arrived. The service was ok, but the food was not made correctly, and then served to us. My steak was over cooked, side of potatoes was cold, my daughter had pasta that was drowning in butter. No one was overly pleased with their meal, but it was all edible. We skipped desert and went elsewhere for that.
Whent there Valentine's Day with my Girlfriend. It was a special day I was going to give her a ring. We are an older couple. I went there early and asked if I could leave flowers and candy and could they have it on our table when we get there the girl we ho was seating people said yes and I thanked her and tipped her. When I got there nothing she said she forgot. I had also asked her to please put some water in vase because some spilled out driving there. Again nothing. I ordered the steak and asked for some shrimp added to meal. The steak was great but the shrimp was terrible. Dried out and old. My girlfriend asked for chicken Marsala. The chicken was good but the spaghetti or whatever it was was terrible. They said it was homemade. It was way to thick and not cooked well. We ordered Chocolate lava cake with ice cream. We got cake but no ice cream. Just a very frustrating evening and expensive $130. Plus tips. Not sure I would go back. Very disappointed. Charles Hartmann
I ordered angel hair pasta with clam sauce. I received a bowl of angel hair pasta with 6 tiny clams in the shell on top of the pasta. No other sauce in the pasta, no other clams. The menu said "market price" It was $36 for the pasta and 6 clams. I don't ever mind paying for a good meal but that was ridiculous!
Ordered veggie wrap. Cold, apparently not freshly made. Returned & was heated. Not worth the price. Pasta salad tasteless. Not worth the $$. Server was wonderful. Won’t return.
The service was Great. The food was crazy disappointing. I went to this restaurant because of the reviews. The soup was really really reallyyyyy bad. I took one sip and I couldn't have another. I didn't tell the waiter. He was so nice. I then tried the meatballs and they were cold and just Awful!!! The atmosphere was somewhat okay. It was a Monday.. very quiet The ONLY thing that was good was the bread. The bread was oven baked. That was the ONLY thing I could stomach. Not a great experience. Food was extremely disappointing.
Nothing really came together for me I started off with calamari it was a wet calamari and I actually prefer it over a dry crispy calamari the flavors were just too overpowering and it just didn’t taste like it was to fresh it was a bit overcooked as well. I did really appreciate the cook making a dinner from the previous night that kind of stuff goes along way with me but for the price and the quantity the frutti di mare was an epic fail. Broke my heart when I tasted the sauce. I must say the scallops and the clams were delicious and perfectly cooked. I guess even the iceberg wedge salad was off. :/
We really like Wheatfield's for lunch. Our waitress was great and the food is good. But the restaurant needs a good cleaning and the ladies room was FILTHY! I complained to the staff, however, the next time we came for lunch, the condition of the ladies room was worse. Please CLEAN UP THE LADIES ROOM! We want to be coming back.
Been several times, but things seem to have fallen off. Even the most straightforward meals were pretty lackluster and we're pretty sure all the desserts came straight from a freezer.
We were disappointed choosing Wheatfields for our Christmas Eve dinner. The hostess seemed very grumpy and sat us in a spot near others in a wide open, cold room. We had reservations for at least months prior to this day. The waiter seemed... awkward. He was soft-spoken and didn't bring out the dipping sauce for the $4 bread we had to purchase for the table. The food was disappointing especially for what they charge! The chicken alla vodka (the special) had maybe two small pieces of chicken and was over covered with cheese. We have been to Wheatfields in the past with great experiences which is why we chose it for our Christmas Eve family dinner. I don't think I will return at this point.
We ordered the family style takeout chicken Marsala and it was very disappointing. The linguine was like starchy worms and seemed like something they just microwaved. The Caesar salad dressing tasted like mayonnaise or miracle whip. Very confused how an Italian pasta place had such awful pasta. $50 for this quality of food is crazy.
Pleasant atmosphere, however, I had to ask the bartender to get the person seating guests and still had to wait. Menu is very limited… it’s more of a happy hour establishment… we ordered chicken Marsala with linguine and chicken milanase. Both dished had thick chicken… not pounded out at all, the pasta for my Marsala was anything but linguine and… our server never asked or mentioned anything about a substitute pasta. The pasta was hard nowhere near aldente… no grated cheese or salt and pepper on the table… and no bread or salad with a 27 dollar meal??? I do not recommend wheatfields at all. Oh and let’s not forget the tablespoon full of sweet chile sauce with the calamari… I asked for marinara sauce as a substitute and they charged for that… do yourself a favor… drive right by. $75 for horrible seating staff and food.
My fiancee and I have been here a few years ago and the food was fresh, hot and delicious. Tonight was the exact opposite of our last experience. Normally I would give credit where credit is due but the dining room was empty so there is no excuse that they were busy. We ordered the calamari for starters and it came out 2 minutes after we ordered it from our waiter. It was stone cold and soggy as if it had been sitting there for 20 minutes. We sent it back to the kitchen and was given another serving which was warmer but not what you expect when getting calamari fresh from the fryer. I ordered the fettuccine alfredo with chicken and my fiancee ordered the mushroom and sausage pizza. For a place that boast fresh pastas and pizzas we were hardly impressed. Their timing was clearly off when her pizza came out so soggy that it couldn't stand up against itself. The fettuccine lacked flavor and was watery. Needless to say we will not come here again. This review is for the Clifton Park location
I’m not one to EVER complain about a restaurant. Yet with this experience, I have to share this with any potential customers that are thinking of going to this establishment. First off, I would have given zero stars if I could. The service was so unprofessional tho the point that I felt offended at times. Many employees including our server, were on their phones in front of customers. When we needed service it made us feel as if we were bothering them. Besides the unprofessional service, when the food (which was not what we ordered) came, it was soggy as if it had been sitting so long. Specifically, their home made pasta that I was so excited for. Was way overcooked and clumped together! The sauce was so bland as if it was out of a jar. Needless to say, I really hope that the management is replaced. I don’t understand how they could allow such a low standard of service and food quality to go on without any change whatsoever. I truly feel bad for the owners, because the atmosphere could have created such a great dining experience, but was the complete opposite.
Been here many times. Seems to be going downhill. Antipasti used to be great, now it is cold with soggy bruschetta bread and a few slices of cold cuts. Pizza was extremely under cooked, not crusty. Then they charged me 4$ for bread for the table. What Italian eats antipasto without bread. What a joke. I used to like this place.
Ordered the Scarpetta which is chicken, sausage and bell peppers and there was so much soy sauce in it that it was barely edible. Having had this dish in multiple places over many years you do not put soy sauce in this recipe . We also had the pesto dish which was our second entree it was plain and not flavorful the wheatfields in Saratoga is fair at best but the one in Clifton Park is terrible
Stopped in for lunch w/ my 88 year old mother & daughter. Only a couple customers in the place. We weren’t greeted, stood there for a bit…then had to find someone to seat us. Strike 1 Finally seated, the menu was very limited and seemed over priced (maybe they serve large portions?). NOPE. Just the opposite. $10 for a small side salad…and it was small. $27 for a chicken/pasta dish. If you want bread, you have to buy it. Void of any flavor, the mushroom risotto I ordered was about 5 fork fulls and I found 3 pieces of mushroom…had to add salt & pepper to get any kind of taste. Strike 2 The atmosphere was MEH/outdated at best. Service was okay (can’t blame the server), she did her best but seemed to not be happy working there. A smile wouldn’t have hurt her. So, after one entrée & 4 sides/appetizers…$87 + tip! Was a very expensive and unsatisfying lunch. Strike 3! Don’t waste your time or money here, there are plenty of other places to eat in Clifton Park.
Just. Left We were large group majority of the peoples foot was cold, ordered spinach and got a very. Small portion for $8 They have a great atmosphere but the room was very cold. too bad we went there for an enjoyable time and to enjoy some good friends but ended up with cold food. Dinners that came out at different times To top if off they felt they should tell us what to tip by actually adding a tip to the bill. I thought we add a tip based on service etc. ??? With the experience and prices I wish them good luck.
We have been to Wheatfields in the past for happy hour and have been pleased with food and service and that is why we chose to take friends there for a holiday lunch. To our surprise- the lunch menu had no prices. Because we were with friends and there for a holiday lunch we did not ask- bad mistake. The scallop “ special “ was $38 for three mid sized scallops- extra for salad- $11 for a half salad- wine was $11 our total bill for 4 people for lunch was $230. We feel they should post prices for all meals- especially lunch specials- We also felt a degree of “ upselling “ rather than letting us make decisions based on known prices. Were we taken advantage of because of the holiday? I think maybe! Will we return? Maybe not! Not sure these are people we want to do business with!
We ordered takeout. We each got the build your own pasta. My husband's portion was tiny. My portion was huge but flavorless! Chicken wasn't seasoned and neither was the Alfredo sauce. Chicken tasted like it was boiled. The brucshetta came with four soggy pieces of little crustinies. Not worth the money we paid.
Soup was thick and not brothy! Strawberry margaritas was too hard to drink and I left it the steal that I ordered was suppose to be med rare and it came out med well. Like it was boiled. Tells me the steak was old. I won’t be going back
