This brunch was wonderful! A little hidden gem in Culver City. The only thing that was a little subpar was the cold brew had too much milk added. Other than that, excellent service, food was amazing and so fresh and delicious! We had the special: mediterranean dish, the gazpacho, the breakfast burrito, and a chocolate croissant. Will be returning!
OMG!!! the crispiest of potatoes guys! i'm a big potato girl and these are amazing. Food is always fresh, and made to order which I love. So many places you can just tell its being microwaved/reheated and its just not on point, but this place does it right!! Also staff is super friendly even when its busy. Love seeing a small business thrive in this area. Keep up the good work!
I’ve been going to breakaway for a minute now and it is my absolute favorite spot for breakfast/lunch. The breakfast burrito is unreal and everything else on the menu is so tasty. The cafe also has a great vibe for working or reading while sipping a coffee. Can’t recommend this place enough. Have converted everyone in my life to this spot, and will continue to until the entire city knows about it.
This place is a hidden gem. Every time we're in LA, my wife and I try a different cafe trying to find the perfect breakfast. I think we may have found it. I got the burrito and my wife got the Sammy. Both were so amazing. Perfectly cooked eggs and fantastic coffee alongside them. They have a hot sauce available that's perfect with breakfast. I also got a dirty chai latte that was one of the best I've had. And an almond croissant that was toasted and stuffed with a delicious filling. Fantastic work guys!
I got the Mediterranean Sandwich with a side of crispy potatoes, both were tasty and good sized portions. You have the option for a side salad as well. I ordered for pickup and the haloumi cheese in the sandwich still had a nice crisp. I also enjoyed the aioli that comes with the potatoes.
All four of our meals were delicious! Burger, breakfast burrito, muffuletta and the Mediterranean Sandwich. Very large and substantial servings. Side salads were fresh and the vinaigrette was so yummy! Roasted fingerling potatoes were perfectly seasoned, crispy outside and fluffy inside. Service was excellent and fast! Servers were professional, friendly and attentive. Coffees were exceptional! Can’t wait to go again!
This place is great. Coffee is wonderful. We got the burger and a Mediterranean sandwich, one with potatoes and one with a salad. The portions are quite generous. The salad featured a homemade vinaigrette and was fresh and delicious. The potatoes were roasted fingerlings with fresh herbs and were cooked perfectly. The burger was grass-fed beef, huge, perfectly cooked and appointed on a brioche bun. Service was fast and friendly and the restaurant is comfortable, though a little tight if it’s busy. This is a dog-friendly establishment, which we love, but be aware. We look forward to going here again soon!
I've been here a handful of times and they never disappoint. The food is always good, the breakfast burrito is a favorite, the sandwiches are simple to the point and full of flavor. Aside from the preset menu they have their specials that are always fun to try. They're creative and put their own twist on simple items with plenty of coffee options, different milks to choose from and specials on coffees as well ! Staff is always friendly and happy to help explain the menu and are quick to give you all your options with no rush. 👏🏼
The breakfast burrito here is one of my favorites. The cheddar used is so uniquely fresh that I wish I could come here every morning for breakfast. The coffee and Matcha have also been very delightful. The staff have all been super friendly. Theythey get swamped on the weekends around 11 AM, so don’t be surprised if you see a line almost out the door. The staff are all great at keeping orders moving, and there is typically some sort of seating usually available immediately or at a short wait, but there are very few times when it can be a long wait depending on the day. There is a gentleman who is the one who brings out the orders who is always super friendly and helpful; I don’t know his name, but shout out to him for always keeping those tables moving so others can sit with their parties. The vibe is great and relaxed, and always clean the times I have been. Would def recommend!
Breakaway is, hands down, my favorite neighborhood cafe. Not only do they make excellent drinks (their oat milk latte is criminally delicious) but they also have a stellar breakfast/lunch menu. Menu highlights include their perfectly simple breakfast burrito- cheesy, eggy, hashbrowny goodness, and their avocado tartine which I have to try to stop myself from ordering every time I go as at some point I would like to try all the other things on the menu too. They have a rotating slate of specials posted near the register too. The staff at Breakaway are all lovely, friendly and great at what they do. It's a beloved spot full of regulars and newcomers alike and the atmosphere is relaxed and unfussy.
Was coming from the hospital and just wanted a nice sit down breakfast spot that would be worth the money and it most certainly was 🥰 They have a decently sized menu especially considering the location size and a nice selection of classic coffee's and teas. My partner got the Avocado Tarine with Hibiscus tea and I got the pulled Pesto chicken sandwhich with a Chai latte. The options for sides of the sandwhich was a salad or potatoes so I chose the potatoes expecting a small amount of cubed potatoes but there was a large amount with even a side of ranch. The sandwhich was large, if you're hungry hungry definitely one could finish it all but if you have a small appetite I would recommend sharing it with someone else and possibly getting another small side. The Avocado toast was excellent as well with a nice topping of various greens and veggies. The service was quick and pleasant. A very nice atmosphere. The only complaint may be the music, it was a little odd but was a nice change from the typical stuff most places play 😂 also my total ended up being around $40, and we both took home left overs, not a bad deal considering most places nowadays 😊
Great breakfast spot! Creative menu well executed, very welcoming people, relaxed fun vibe. One of our go-to places
Finally made it over here to try the chicken sandwich and it was fantastic! The biscuit is unbelievable, the chicken is fried to perfection, and I got the sauce on the side which was perfect for me! The staff is so friendly and the atmosphere is very relaxing I can't wait to come back and try more of the menu!
The breakaway cafe is my new go to spot for breakfast and a matcha !!!! It’s so simple but so good , the potatoes are crispy , not soggy . The eggs are fluffy and the jam they give with the toast is so good 😭💕
Easy choice for some great brunch or a coffee if you’re in the area. Awesome people running the show and some great employees too. The food is awesome. I had the egg sandwich my first visit and a really well made latte. Today I went for a croissant and a coffee and sat and enjoyed the counter. 10/10. Can’t wait to try more menu stuff.
Nice cafe for brunch. Really delicious breakfast, lunch, and Mediterranean food. Lots of fresh, healthy, gluten free, and vegan options. My only complaint is there was cilantro on my sandwich without warning. I would have asked to leave it off if I had known. I had to scrape it off to eat the sandwich.
Found this place on Google. Had good reviews so we figure we try it since we were near. Free parking lot next to the restaurant. I got the BLAT. It was good! Fresh ingredients. I get a free side, either potatoes or salad. I got the potatoes because the cashier said it was the most popular. Next time I’m gonna try the Shakauka. I would have gotten it if I would have known about it on the Yelp reviews. ———————— You order first at counter then pick your own seats. Cashier gives you a number for your order. Server will bring your food to your table. You get your own napkins, drinking water, coffee lids, and to-go boxes. There is 1 restroom for both genders. Tables are very big for big groups but we had 4 people and had to combine tables.
Great place with good breakfast. Not too big but food is delicious. You won't miss the potatoes and burritos
The Baseline: For a Breakfast Cafe they must have quality eggs (preparation/product), coffee must be good (roast quality/flavor), baked/pastry/bread products must be flavorful, reasonable wait/service time, and existence of uncommon combinations. Food: The food is excellent and exceeds the Baseline. My eggs were prepared over easy and had a silky, smooth cooked exterior and the yolks were the right amount of runny. The toast was properly crisp and properly soft on the inner bread, recommend the sourdough. I had the drip coffee which was flavorful and the beans used smelled/tasted properly roasted. I also had the shakshuka which is a little more common in LA but not everywhere so they had some uncommon offerings (also the breakfast burrito bread pudding and Muesli look interesting to try on future visits. Service: It did take a little longer for us to get seated on the day we came but that was a weekend around 10am. Once we ordered and were seated the service was excellent. My water glass was not empty and the staff were friendly. Ambiance: This is a nicely decorated cafe in the walkable section of Culver City across the street from Helms Bakery shopping area. The cafe was busy and had a good vibe with other patrons enjoying a good breakfast on a weekend. Overall I will come back when the opportunity arises.
Hidden Gem! How often do you find traditional soup and sandwich with today’s “Breakfast Bowls! This is the place! Always great food and wonderful service!
A seriously delicious brunch. I have passed this place many times, but yesterday morning was my first time trying it. The menu is not very large, but they do have a lot of great options. You order at the counter and then they bring the food to you. They have outdoor and indoor seating, but parking will be street parking. We were lucky and were able to find a parking space less than a block away. The food came out pretty quickly, so the service was definitely prompt. I started off with the Chicken and Wild Rice Soup, and I was actually not a fan. The rice at the bottom was a bit hard, and there wasn’t nearly enough chicken in it for my taste. I followed that up with the Bread, Butter & Jam and it was very good. We ate all of it, and we’re very happy with it. For my entrée, I chose the BLTA and it was actually really great. Tons of bacon on it and a lot of avocado. I would highly recommend it and would order it again. We also ordered the Breakfast Sammie and it was small in size but big in flavor. The brioche bun really made it. Overall a really solid breakfast or lunch option in Culver City. The pricing was fair in my opinion, especially compared to some other breakfast places not far from this one. I plan to be back in the future to try more items.
We had a wonderful experience at this new, family-run, local cafe! The co-owners (brothers) were working the cafe and were so sweet. The food was sublime and so fresh. We got the breakfast burrito and shakshuka and both were so tasty and filling. The coffee was also rich and flavorful. It was quite crowded in there too! I have a feeling this will soon be a go-to neighborhood joint.
Wowwwwee this food was delicious. What a well kept secret of Culver City. I will definitely be back. Chicken pesto sandwich was insane, so good, ans the sausage biscuit special was to die for.
Love this little restaurant that I discovered while in Culver City. I had the breakfast burrito which was amazing. I added bacon and loved the crispy potatoes inside. The tortilla was super thin and toasted until nicely crisp. Yum! I'll be back!
Amazing breakfast with top coffee. I had the Avocado tartine with 3 fried eggs and a cortado. Beautiful atmosphere, delicious food and very friendly staff 🥰
Excellent sandwich shop. Order at the counter and sit at inexpensive but comfortable tables. My wife had the pesto chicken sandwich. I had the burger. Both came with roasted potatoes that were fried kind of like home fries but bigger. I also had the homemade soup. All of it was outstanding! Service was great and very friendly. There's metered parking on the street. Spent $50 for the two of us but it was well worth it! They also serve breakfast all day but we did not have that.
Stopped by Breakaway Cafe on opening day with a friend for breakfast, and we had an amazing, delicious meal! The coffee is strong, and the dishes are classic but loaded with flavor. The staff was welcoming and knowledgeable, and they were quick to recommend favorites and answer questions. There is both indoor and outdoor dining, which is very appreciated. Welcome to the neighborhood, Breakaway! Looking forward to coming back for lunch.

Really kind employees, and super quick service. The matcha was amazing - perfectly unsweetened, great color, and they had a lot of milk options to choose from.

AMAZING! 🍳☕️ we are from out of State, staying at a near by hotel, walking distance. This place was recommended and it did not disappoint. Excellent coffees, excellent breakfast! Yum!

Regardless you're looking for breakaway time from the crowd or meeting up with someone else, this cafe might be a great spot to stop by. It's quite packed during peak hours in the weekend, and despite quite many seats were available, I'd say most tables were made more to accommodate smaller groups up to 3-4 people. The service was swift despite the busy time. It's great that they made people ordering then sit and wait for the orders to be delivered to the table, avoiding long lines crowding the space. I tried one of their favorite dishes, Brie and Jam croissant, which you could even go extra by adding bacon. It was totally simple pleasure for me, as the sweet and savory mix was so enjoyable, besides every single ingredient came in generous portion as the pic could tell.
They win French toast!! I have never had French toast this great in a restaurant!! You know how the batter has to soak in? Yes! They got that right! The batter flavor saturated the Brioche! I chose to nix the sweet cream cheese but the blueberry compote was so subtle and delicious! It had perfectly crispy edges too! It was a huge serving but it didn’t come with anything else. It was filling but I do like some protein in the mix, without having to pay to add it. The staff was cordial. I will go back when I have a craving for French toast!
Popular spot for breakfast burritos and a chill vibe. Came here for brunch after a workout with my friend. You order and pay at the counter, and then pick up your drink when your name is called. Self service water and utensil station is available on the right hand side of the counter. One single occupant restroom available. Small parking lot available otherwise there’s metered street parking. I opted to add mushrooms to my breakfast burrito, which were nicely sautéed and added some pop of flavor. The hash browns were very crispy and there were mild salsas/Tapatio available for extra flavor. My matcha latte came unsweetened so I didn’t love it, but my friend liked her vanilla latte.
Love this spot - perfect for weekend mornings or to chill in the neighborhood. Good vibes for sure!

This cafe has utterly delightful lavender matchas. It is sweet but not too sweet while having a satisfying texture. If you get the iced version, make sure you stir because the syrup is at the bottom. Now the food (the sausage biscuit and chicken noodle soup) is on the other end of the spectrum- I found it to be heavy and very lacking in seasoning. The biscuit sausage was particularly disappointing given that the cashier said it was a popular weekend item only. The sausage felt like something you find from a microwaved Jimmy dean sausage sandwich. Meanwhile the biscuit was initially nice but really got mushy after several bites. Everything you see in this image ended up being $65 after tax and tip. The venue is in a cute location but next time I would go back for the drinks only.
The cafe is a quiet place to chat with friends or get some work done. Serves is fast and clean. There is a small parking lot east of the cafe or you can use the street meter parking. Indoor or outdoor seating. This is a non cash cafe. QR code menu ordering is available.

Food tastes great! Unfortunately my friend had a bug in her cappuccino. When we brought it to the counter they shrugged it off and said it probably came from outside as it wouldn’t have come from the kitchen. We might have believed that if my friend didn’t notice it in the very first sip as soon as it was brought over. It’s a shame! We all really liked this place but are disappointed both by hygiene and the service/response to the situation.

I’m all for small businesses, especially small cafes. Now what I didn’t appreciate was being told no & laughed at when I nicely asked for a refund on my overnight oats. A simple “no, we don’t allow refunds.” would have been sufficient. I’m now feeding it to pigeons at a gas station.
Didn't think there was such thing as a bad breakfast burrito until now. Also no refills after paying $9 for a black coffee is insane.
Every time I order soup to go they fill the container under 2/3 of the way. Feels scammy. There’s never enough broth… no good for $10
The phone company crew ate there today and all have food poisoning. Not sure what's going on but on March 6th several people came down with food poisoning after eating burritos there
No frills Cafe really ugly decor. Very bland menu. If you have nothing better to do then go there.
