Great home cooking restaurant. Awesome breakfast and I have NEVER had to wait for a table! Great Service! Have been several times for supper and just as good. I think they have an outstanding staff as well. Hard to beat the history.
Homemade food a excellent place to eat breakfast, lunch and supper. The restaurant staff and very friendly and it is a place that you want you to be a regular at. They have big portions. It is like going to granny's house and being spoiled by granny. They are very polite and watch and come by to see if you need anything during your meal.
It's like going back in time to the 70's or 80's. Food is good and they have a good amount of options
One of the few places around to get some home cooked food. Large portions will fill you up.
A group of my friends meet there monthly. Staff is always friendly and give us the best in service. Both of those are becoming a rare thing nowadays. The food is always consistently good, served hot hot and pretty quickly considering it is usually a group of between 12 and 30. Cudos to the staff and management. I have been going to the CG, off and on for the past 50 years, and the food quality has never been disappointing. I am thinking they have had the same person cooking all that time. I am going to peek into their kitchen the next time I'm there and see if there is an old white haired person in there cooking! Lol
Informative waitress from personally tasting menu items. She offered a long experience with CG as a customer then staff! Food was hot & tasty, and arrived in a timely fashion. It was our first time, but other customers were greeted by name as they arrived. Each seat had a nameplate attached. Sweet.
Friendly staff dated look but amazing food. I sat at the bar and breakfast there their prices are a bit high compared to other fast food restaurants but since they are a dining restaurant I can see it a little bit higher than normal. You get what you pay for though I had French toast and it was made great. My wife ordered crepes and they were also excellent. I will be back for sure.
Diane is the best server. She goes above and beyond. Love this place although I must admit my Honeys hog omelet gor smaller. Is there a reason? We brought our family from Cali. They loved it. We always go with my mom. I've gone for 16 years now!
I have been going to Circle Grill since I was very young. I have seen many changes from owners, management, remodels and menus. I actually stopped going for about 15 years due to new owners, poor management and quality of the food and service. I was invited back recently by a friend who said it had been bought by good people who wanted to bring back quality and good service. I went a few times and it was a lot better and service was great. Well now I am there everyday they are open at least once, more like twice a day. It is welcoming, clean, fresh food, great service, prices are good and it feels like it used to, community, neighborhood, your eating with friends. I can not say enough about this place, please give it a try you will love it! ~ Tanya
Great food and great staff. This place has been serving great food for at least 50 years. It's where the lod timers and locals like to go. Truckers have to park outside the parking lot .No room for big trucks but plenty of room down the street. Outta towers don't want to miss this place.
Had a Santa Eat N Meetin dinner with 47 brother Santas and spouses in the banquet room! Great time! Staff was super friendly and accommodating. Everyone ordered off the menu, got our drinks in a timely manner! As the food was cooked, it was served. Big variety of food on the menu, something for everyone! The chicken fried steak was delicious!
It's simply good and affordable! I found a best kept secret with very friendly staff - Karen, Lisa, and Brenda, just to name a few.
Food is good, people are great. Breakfast is the best.
I’ve been getting breakfast here for several months now. Every single order has been perfectly cooked, delicious and well packaged (ordered via DoorDash). They have also accommodated and gotten my special orders right each time. I’m very happy with Circle Grill! Definitely recommend!
My husband and I met when there was a Circle Grill on hwy 30 that was on Feb 12 1975. We ate there till it burned. Before we met my family and I ate at the one on Buckner. I was a teenager back then. We still eat there now. We love to have our favorite waiter Ceasar he is great. We eat the enchiladas and there are terrific.
This is EXACTLY what you want in a historic diner. The food, service, and atmosphere are perfection. It has been around at least since the 1950s, started by the Evans family and was named after the traffic circle (roundabout) that used to interchange Buckner Boulevard and highway 67. I've been coming here since I was a kid with my grandparents and I'm so glad they've kept things largely the same with their improvements and upgrades maintaining the original charm. My faves: catfish, chicken fried steak. They have lots of specialties and you virtually can't go wrong with anything. One wish: real butter.
Didn't have to wait long to be seated. Our waiter was awesome. Service , food and prices were great. I will be going g back.
This place feels like a Midwest small town, "always been there," best known secret kind of restaurant. I especially LOVE their breakfasts! The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming and I have to say it is one of my favorite places to eat in Dallas. Prices are totally reasonable and the staff is very attentive and courteous. Great find and I highly recommend it! ❤️❤️
Family has been longtime customers of the CG. Food, service and comfortability is awesome. Today’s visit will be our last. Upon checking out noticed entry on receipt that read “Non-cash Adjustment “. When we inquired about it was told that it was for using a Debt Card and that everyone is now doing. After a moment of thought I explained that CG had just lost a long time customer. Over the past few years new ownership has slowly eroded the neighborhood feel that was a staple of CG. It’s a shame, we’ll miss the people. There’s plenty of other restaurants working hard to get and keep loyal customers. C Bradford.
Takes you back in time - old style cafe Grilled chicken sandwich is huge and juicy. Fast, friendly and good prices
My family has been going to Circle Grill for years. Never had a bad meal there.
This place has vast variety of menu items, from breakfast to crepes. Wonderful cooks, staff, and management. I have been going there loyally for years. It is clean, well-preserved and smells fresh every time. I am always welcomed with a smile as I sit down at my booth. The waiters are superb, always ask plenty of times if I need anything else, they are not annoying, and the number of times they ask you is just right. The food is served in a big plate, worth the money for the size of it. They do take a while to cook it between 10 to 15 minutes, not bad. Also, depends on what you order. Try it, you will love it and the service as well..
Great service. Was our first time there and drove 30 minutes to try it. The other reviews were not wrong. It is a normal diner food but...the food tasted great, and the service was excellent even the owner was there and was extra nice and gave my kid free candy and cookies. If it wasn't 30 min away i would make it my regular place....😀
Lovely hidden gem. Positive experience every time I eat here. The ladies are quick and kind. Big food portions for a reasonable price!
This restaurant has been around for a long time. I love supporting mom and pop businesses like this. The staff were incredibly friendly. The food was good. I would recommend it.
My husband and I really enjoyed the food here. We were out early Saturday morning running errands and we wanted to eat something good but somewhere new to us. It is an older restaurant really good home vibe feeling to it. Pancakes were amazing I haven’t had good big pancakes like this in a while. And my husband enjoyed the chicken friend Chicken with the creamy gravy. The food wasn’t expensive either!
Server was accommodating of our off menu order, entertaining & funny. Food took a little long, despite not having many customers in the restaurant. Atmosphere... not the employees fault.
Very nice and friendly staff. The food was delicious, will visit again. I went to Circle Grill on my birthday August 3 and was totally ignore while waiting to be seated , after a few minutes I seated myself and was informed by one of the participant that this is the way they treat us. So as I was leaving one of the waitress decided to come over to me but I left anyway. I did not feel welcome as a customer.
This place is great. I've been eating here since I was a kid. The fried chicken is worth the wait. They have the best Ranch dressing. Don't skip out on the enchiladas. The salsa is made from scratch. Everything is good.
Love this hole in the wall spot for breakfast. They have been there forever but their food quality is consistent. Little bit of a drive from where I live but it's well worth it for a treat once in awhile. Staff is friendly and the food comes out hot and fresh.
Legit! I passed by this place for years and the parking lot was usually full. I'm glad I finally checked it out. The HUGE portions were delicious. The service was friendly and attentive. It reminds me of the show Alice (Kiss My Grits!). Check it out! I promise you won't be disappointed.
We had a 40 people party. It was great. Hardworking staff.
Has the feel of an old school diner type even though it's a lot larger than a diner. We go a lot on Sunday mornings for breakfast. Food is good and the ladies are all great. For years I passed by and never went in , glad I decided to try it. 👍🏽
A blast from my past, the restaurant brought back memories of eating here years ago. The place is still as clean and neat as I remembered. The food as good as always. I had chicken fried steak with black eyed peas and pinto beans with one of their excellent yeast rolls. Others had fried chicken, chicken fried chicken, chicken livers, salads, and more. All were wonderful. We were here bringing together fellow Skyline High School alumni from the early 1970s. The venue was perfect!
I love the circle. The food is always good the service outstanding. The patronage is old people. The decor is old people late 90s. The staff is LGBT friendly but I dont know about the other patrons. We were quiet little gay angels when we went but the staff made us feel welcomed and loved. Owners seemed like kind and lovely people. Not the hip trendy breakfast spot but sometimes thats exactly what is required. Biscuits and gravy were on point!
Great diner atmosphere. The food and preparation of the food is really good. But WOW! The friendliest smiling, happy person took our food request and brought it to us with more friendliness. She is a treasure to this place Go see Fatima for a great experience!
Circle Grill is a delightful dining gem, particularly renowned for its excellent breakfast offerings. Their mushroom and spinach omelets are a particular favorite, always cooked to perfection. Meals are thoughtfully paired with classic sides such as indulgent French toast or hearty biscuits and gravy. The service at Circle Grill is consistently top-notch, with a warm and welcoming staff that makes every visit a pleasure. The atmosphere is cozy and never overwhelmingly crowded, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed family outing. To top it all off, the prices are quite reasonable, making this charming establishment an easy favorite.
I went here for breakfast with my girlfriend for our anniversary. Let me tell you that the hash browns are to die for. I've never had hash browns that have reached perfection like this in my entire life. The salsa is made in the restaurant and it's so refreshing with each bite. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, I can see how this place has been open since 1946. Hope to see this place stay for many years to come.
“Best kept Secret in Dallas” I don’t know if that is a good marketing slogan or not? Let me get the word out and reveal the secret 🤫 I like nostalgic Americana and this Restaurant is full of it. The food is good, the service is good, Atmosphere is clean and friendly. My eggs Benedict was done right, the eggs perfectly poached, thick sliced Canadian bacon and lightly buttered English muffin oh also the hash browns were crisp and full of flavor. I decided to indulge with a slice of Lemon Meringue pie, the portion was more then I could eat, but it was delicious 🤤. As a customer of Cowboy Toyota across the street you could also call this restaurant an extension of the waiting area if you have to get your car serviced.
I had not been here since I was a kid when I used to come with my parents. My husband and I came and it was better than I remembered. It's so warm and cozy. Our server Mrs. Diana was so wonderful. She made sure our coffee cups were always full! Both my husband and I ordered the Farmland Skillet along with a waffle and it was so good! I loved it and we will definitely come back again and again!
I have eaten lunch at the Circle Grill several times. It is a diner style restaurant. The service is very good, and so is the food. The vast majority of the menu is very reasonably price. I prefer the BLT and a cup of chili.
I really enjoy Circle Grill. I have a pleasant experience every time I dine there. The staff is friendly and attentive. I have been there three times since moving to Dallas. The food is tasty and the portions are large. And kids eat free after 4pm on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday! They have definitely earned a customer in me. Overall good experience.
Quaint setting with a country feel. I had breakfast and coffee, it was delicious. My husband didn't really like his beef tips and said it tasted like hospital cafeteria food. The service was great and the restaurant was clean.
It's one of the few diners left. The service is great, the food is good. The prices are a little high for diner food but I guess everywhere is these days. I wish they were open a little later Mon-Wed (like maybe 5:00 pm)
I have been coming to this dinner since I moved near more than 15 years ago. The staff is friendly and the good hits the comfort food spot. The fried chicken is my favorite and worth the wait. Chicken fried steak is very goid too. Breakfast is good too. Waffles and pancakes are the best. Everything here feels like home. There are new owners, I hope it does not change the charm.
We always go here for a quick breakfast. The staff are really nice! The food is okay. They do keep your coffee and tea filled up! Never had dinner there so I can't comment on that.
This place has been around for decades. So definitely has that feel but in a positive way.
First time here today. Food was good. Had the migas. They were tasty. Had a little heat, and flavor was ok. Nice fluffy eggs. Coffee was alright, a bit weak for me. Service was fantastic. Would come back, but not sure when I'll be back this way.
The food here was pretty good I must say. I ordered the fried pork chops and eggs w/hash browns, biscuits and gravy. I really liked that the pork chops were boneless and very tender. My only complaint is that the batter the pork chops were fried in was a little bland but they tasted great other wise. My mother ordered the catfish plate and she really enjoyed but just know that the piece of fish you get may not be big enough for you so you may want to order an extra piece or two. Overall the experience was great and the staff was very attentive. I will be going back to try other menu items in the future.
I absolutely love this place I love the waitresses they are always so nice and helpful. The only thing that is lack luster is the HASHBROWNS. OMG it is unfair to this place for those things to be that BAD. Its like they are cooked in 10 day old Crisco shortening the after taste is really bad my father got sick on them and my mother and I refused to eat them. I dont understand WHY no one has said anything about it. Everything else is amazing! I love this place! I hope they fix this issue. The place really is so good!
Good ole place with good basic food. Our server is a jewel in every way. We're there a Sunday a month and they're so accommodating.
On a day where a literal deep freeze is developing outside, inside the Circle Grill restaurant, all ceiling fans are on, going in the "summer" direction. Plus, there is a discernable cold draft from the windows and front door. I can't determine whether the heat is even on at all. Really spoiled the whole concept of a "comfort food" meal.
At this posting I have been visiting Circle Grill for over 50 years. A great neighborhood restaurant with down home cooking in different categories to suit your mood. I have my favorites in each, the Hey Poncho omelet and biscuits and gravy lead my breakfast, so many favorites in the other categories not fair to single out. All good eating, very nice servers , clean restaurant .
This place is good. Cooks did amazing on the food. Waitress was amazing very nice. I only have a photo of my plat. But the other was chicken fried steak overall review on that plate hash brown could have been a little crispy. Scrambled eggs perfectly. Chicken fried steak needed lite salted breading needing more crispy. Next you see my photo farmland skillet not crazy on the plate but the taste was very very good. Now biscuits was a 10 give a try you food eaters
Very cute neighborhood place. 1. Service is AMAZING. Everyone is super nice and sweet :) 2. My food was lukewarm at best, that made me sad. 3. I saw food kind of sitting up in the window a long time. (They were busy so I can understand!) I will definitely be back! Just probably in an off peak time.
I’ve recently have been disappointed with their lack of consistency with the kitchen. The food is good but it’s hit or miss when it comes to portion size and now becoming an issue quality. All the wait staff are excellent, it’s the kitchen that has recently started to change. Update: the cooks in the kitchen really don’t seemed to care. Our omelette were mainly all cheddar cheese. Yesterday we waited 35-40 minutes for our food. It looked like something a three year old made. Did I mention we were one of 8 tables? We are looking for another breakfast option. New owner/new kitchen staff equals us finding another diner. Update 1/3/26 They continue to charge $1.00 extra for eggs when the prices have gone down. Same with coffee (crappy community coffee $2.99). The owner stated that they don’t want to print new menus. The wait staff are telling customers to complain.
Had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes, corn, and a roll. The steak was ok. It was a little tough and chewy inside. The roll was fantastic. A soda order here comes in a can and costs 2.50. That's a little high for a single can. It seems like many regulars come here as the staff seemed to know most of the customers and what they liked to order. All ordered breakfast, so I'll go that route next time.
The food was not as good as expected. Especially for the price they charge. Did not dine in.
This is a diner I would probably go back to if I were in the area. I was not impressed with the Belgian waffle. Tastes very much like a frozen waffle that wasn’t heated fully AND it wasn’t even warm enough to melt the butter. I was pleased with our waitress. She was very kind and considering she wasn’t supposed to be waitressing —- well, that did not impede her attitude of service. I also ordered the SOS which was described as 4 biscuits and gravy with hash browns. Their math was a bit off. It was 4 halves or 2 biscuits. However, the flavor was delicious. The hash browns were also cooked to perfection: the perfect combination of crispy and potato-y. My husband’s food order was also a bit wonky. He had a pancake and the Sawmill Breakfast which included biscuits with gravy and eggs. He ordered his eggs over medium. They didn’t even make it to easy. They were left untouched. As for the atmosphere of the place - there are lots of locals who eat regularly. It’s very old school diner. I loved it but it was quite dirty. Our table was sticky from dried syrup leftover from several diners previous. The amount of dust on the ceiling fans was quite thick. Overall - I will give this place another shot because the issues may have been due to being understaffed.
We had reservations in side room & there was another group too that we're very loud. About a 1/4 of our group didn't receive their food until we were leaving so took it home. The other group was so loud that we couldn't hear each other.
Stopped here for breakfast fresh off the airplane because it was close to our airbnb. Service was great but the food was bad. I didn't get pictures of everyone else's food but my pancakes are the reason for this review. They obviously used a waffle batter, yes, there's a difference. They were also served cold, hence the unmelted butter after eating half. Maybe it was a sub cook or something, either way, it's a no for me.
Why do they allow workers with their hair down work around food? One of them looked like she was the boss, because she actually was in the kitchen with the cooks. The other was at the register, don't know why she was around the food service section. Other than that, everything else was good, even the food.
Nice Dallas icon. Breakfast skillet was ok, but disappointed when I received the check. Each of the three meals we had were charged $1.00 more than priced in the menu. I questioned the waitress who said the extra $1.00 per meal was due to increased egg prices and she has no control over price adjustmens. She said I need to discuss it with the cashier. The cashier pointed to a note - that could easily be overlooked - and was posted near the "please wait..." sign that noted the additional $1.00 charge for egg dishes. It was not mentioned at the time of ordering nor was there a note inside the menu. It seemed to be a very questionable way to increase menu prices and the staff agreed. The cashier gave me a business card for the manager, but the additional $3.00 + tax and tip was already paid. The manager needs to do better than this. How about making multiple copies of the small note and include it inside the menus.
We had a reservation on Father's Day at 9:30am. After, waiting an hour and half for our food, we find out that half the grill broke. No communication from the waitress. Coffee refills were cold. No courtesy when refilling cups. She reached over our heads and drips everywhere. We finally received our food 2 HOURS later. My food was very cold on the bottom of the hashbrowns. The omelet was not full at all. Definitely not my choice to eat there.
This establishment showed so much promise and I was excited to sit down and eat. But unfortunately, as the visit rolled on all of the shortcomings revealed themselves. It took forever for the food to come out and when it did it was tough to eat. They had all these things listed on the menu, but when we'd ask we got oh they stopped serving that at this time, or we dont have that anymore, they turned the waffle iron off etc.. There was nothing on the menu to indicate that certain foods would not be served all day on their breakfast and lunch "served all day" menu. Service was good and I enjoyed the seating, but the meal just didn't cut it. I will not return.
I was so disappointed! I had this on my list of “want to go” for ages because of the reviews and for my affection for “old school” no frills charm… well, it was not so special. ☹️ It could’ve been what I ordered… I may give it another go at some point but if ya’ want to be wowed… not the spot in my opinion.
This was my second time visiting this place! Service was good, Paige was a very nice waitress but my mother and I were very disappointed with the food. I had some chili and my mom had a tuna sandwich, the food did not have any flavor and the cost for the tuna sandwich seemed pricey. Otherwise, the COVID guidelines are being followed, this place has been around many years, I personally like restaurants that are old school type restaurants. Maybe other food is good.
My coworkers and I are working here in the ER today on New Years Day. 3 of us ordered. The only reason that we ordered from this restaurant was because they had Cabbage and Black Eyed Peas on their menu. Beings as it's New Years Day, that's what we wanted to eat. We Door Dashed our order and DIDN'T receive the cabbage or the black eyed peas. Which was the ONLY reason that we ordered from them. We all did agree that the fried Okra was DELICIOUS! In the end Door Dash refunded us for the missing items. We won't be ordering from there again.
We started with their chips and homemade salsa. Chips appeared to be store bought and served cold and was just okay. Salsa was good with just a little heat. I enjoyed the Chicken Fried Steak, mashed potatoes and green beans, which came with rolls or corn bread. My mother and husband ordered one of the Sunday lunch specials, Supreme Chopped Steak, but one order came out incorrect. The chopped steaks and veggies of okra, pinto beans, black-eyed peas and turnip greens were just average for a diner. Service was good. We were surprised when we received our check, however, to see that we were being charged more for our entrees than the menu price. We asked the server and was told that entree prices had increased by $1 each and that there was a sign at the entrance advising same. This is a BIG pet peeve of mine. Prices should be clearly marked on the menu, or a note on the menu that no one could miss, advising of a price increase. At the very least, the waiter should inform the patron of the price increase at the time the order is placed. Incidentally, we checked on our way out of the diner and there was no posted notice of a price increase.
I won't be going back. The chicken fried steak was very disappointing. Obviously frozen and not like they used to have. Biscuits were depressing as well. The service has always been top-notch. I'm really sad to be posting this review. I enjoyed breakfast here for years, but it's declined, a lot...
I was very disappointed. After seeing the positive reviews I was looking forward to a great meal. The food was very bland. We ordered Chicken Fried Steak. It was bland as was the Mac/cheese and mashed potatoes. I had the hash browns and cheese eggs which was hard and cold. I sent my plate back and got pork chops. They were a little better but not great. My son who is not a picky eater was also disappointed. I gave it 2 stars because the waitstaff was friendly.
Ate here last Thursday, had catfish platter catfish was so good looked like a filet waitress made fresh tater sauce very good Came back today ordered same catfish was way thin looked like it came from a Sam's store. More crust tan meat coleslaw was floating in a bowl of water and sautaied veggies had brown spots all over the broccoli. And now my stomach is upset 😫 WHAT HAPPENED??
NON-CASH ADJUSTMENT?? Owner charging With out telling customers or any sight at register… 🤔 is ripping people off after the $0.50 cents extra for each EGG that is already included in prices… my meal was $12.99 PLUS $1.00 for my two eggs acceptable when prices on eggs was high NOW EGGS ARE CHEAP AGAIN owner should remove that $0.50 extra I don’t think I am going to take my family and friends anymore
Food is to gressie. day old bread .gravy and mashed potatoes are soupie. French fries and okra are gressie . . chicken fried steak are hard .does not change cooking oil as often.as they should .gossip a lot. and talk about the customers. .and that's not good they smile in your face.when you leave your talk about.
Update to my review..Unfortunately when I visited today my experience was not great. I've never had problems before. I ordered the fried pork chops breakfast and one of my chops tasted as if it was about to turn bad. Also, our waitress brought our check once she delivered our food (we didn't ask for it) and she never came back to ask if we needed any refills or a to go box. I didn't eat the rest of my food and my boyfriend only ate a little of his. He still left her a tip. I definitely won't be back for awhile. If and when we do go back we definitely don't want her as a waitress.
Worst I have ever had from what used to be a good reliable restaurant. This place needs one thing to make it better, a large lock on the door. Not fit for human consumption.
This place gave me food poisoning on 6/21/24. It had been years since I ate here. Had a late lunch and was starving since I didn't eat breakfast. It was all I had eaten that day and about 2-3 hours after eating is when it hit. Took me almost 2 days to suffer through it. The server Gloria was great. After talking to a coworker about what happened, he said his family and him would eat there all the time before covid. After covid they went back and the whole family got food poisoning there. Never going back.
It felt racist even though the waitress was black. The only food that was seasoned was the chicken tenders; EVERYTHING else was bland. The lady at the register was rude and had no personality. I complimented the waitress, and she didn't even acknowledge my statement. She was very dry, not friendly at all, and advised this place was her establishment.
OMG this was the worst meatloaf I have ever had. With fake potatoes who does that at a home style cooking restaurant. On top of that the turnip greens were awful. All of that with no salt or seasoning in it. This place is for people with fake teeth and high blood pressure. I normally take my leftovers but why it was gross
miscommunication since we got there. Got greeted by kitchen manager and asked me and my wife what we wanted.. clearly we said a fried chicken sandwich and orange juice as a drink and we waited roughly 10 mins for it and when the order came out it was a steak fried sandwich instead of chicken, which the server left to us as a courtesy while the chicken was being cooked. The owner of the place came through after my wife had eating fries of it and took the plate back with the steak fried sandwich which the server lady gave to us as courtesy. on top off that he took my card without even apologizing for what happened and simply charged my card and offered me a cookie.I was never given the orange juice either! I decided to go on and pay the food which i didn’t end up taking with me cause of the poor service and miscommunication they have. the server lady was polite and embarrassed of what the owner did.
To many people took my order and none of them could’ve got it right. Kitchen manager took my order and said he never took our order. Kitchen got the order wrong and server was trying to give us the meal as a courtesy since it was already done(kind lady). Our server was asking for our meal to many times to be done no one was listening to her . She did forget to give us our drinks which it was two orange juice. The I guess so called owner had to step in and he took the meal away(the wrong order) not even leaving it as a courtesy for messing up
