Tip: The sashimi portions are very generous, consider sharing. Also, the restaurant shares a space with Jungdon Katsu, so you can enjoy both sushi and katsu.

Absolutely amazing nigiri! They share a space with Jungdon Katsu which means you get the best of both worlds. The nigiri was amazingg!! We got some to try their nigiri, we were mainly there for the Katsu. But the portioning was so good with the Tuna that we ordered more (and we even got a bit of a bonus from the chef). The fish ratio to rice was spectacular. I've seen poor reviews about the service/speed, which I could see happening if things get busy. There was one server for all the tables, the food is made to order so it takes a bit to get your food. We went on a Thursday night and had one party ahead of us. The food took 20 mins to get to us. However the KATSU was PIPING HOT! The nigiri was also quick to arrive. You order via QR code and the server was polite so I couldn't see anything to complain about the service besides the speed. The place is a bit hard to find but I liked the cozy atmosphere of the restaurant. Overall amazing experience. I'll be writing my review for Jungdon Katsu as well!
I’ve been here locally many times and it’s my first review. Pretty good sushi but I’m more so here for the other restaurant named Jung Don Katsu because their Katsu is super crispy and tasty.
Hidden gem in Danville run by a passionate owner. High quality, fresh sushi. Thick slices of sashimi. Homemade pork katsu tender to die for. Charming and intimate ambience. Everything was made with love.
Amazingly fresh fish which is hard to find - and our new favorite sushi place in Danville. The sushi is truly quality and always delicious. The service is so friendly and warm, and we feel welcomed and well-fed every time we come.
We really enjoyed this place. As others have commented, service is a bit slow. One person seems to cover the whole space. The fish seemed fresh and they gave you good size portions. The hand rolls had chunks of fish instead of the ground mish-mash you usually get.
Sashimi portions were very large. Service was quick and friendly. Great recommendation on a unfiltered sake.
Had the Sashimi Omakase. Sashimi was super fresh and generous in portion size. Definitely share between 2 people.

Hidden gem! Great fresh sushi, Udon and teriyaki. Really nice atmosphere. We sat next to a fireplace on a cool day on on hot days we like to sit outside. Great service as well. The fish is super fresh and high quality.
High Quality Fish....... Looking at the menu, we weren’t very inspired so we ordered something we usually avoid, the ever basic rainbow roll. We figured, We’ll get to taste a variety of their fish. It was so quality we ordered another. Dragon roll was solid, salads were very good and I went off menu and got a pretty good hand roll.
This place takes pride in its sushi. Every piece of our nigiri was well portioned, and FRESH. She owner is super nice and the prices were reasonable.
My favorite Sushi place in the East Bay Area. Been coming here for years. The quality of the sushi is excellent and the portions are huge. The family favorite is the Jedi Roll, Danville Roll, and Hamachi Nigiri. Jon is the owner and his staff and daughter are always super friendly. Depending on the night, the wait could be long, but for me, worth the wait.
We came here for an anniversary dinner and the service was fantastic. They were friendly, helpful and accommodating in every way. The fish was great and good portioned. Will definitely visit again.
We went there for lunch for the first time today. The food was awesome, service was great and the atmosphere is chill. We found our new favorite sushi spot!!!
This cozy little family owned restaurant serves great food and large beers. You might miss this tucked away little gem from the road but once inside you are greeted and seated promptly. Even on a hot and busy 111 degree day, they were still able to find us a table and get us started right away. The food was great. I ordered a salad, miso soup and gyoza for the table. The salad was light, the miso was delicious, and the gyoza were perfectly crispy. I ordered the Red Dragon roll, California roll, and spicy tuna roll. The presentation was great and the order sizes offer plenty of food. The servers were fantastic. I think there were only two servers for the whole restaurant, but they efficiently and gleefully accommodated a full house. Ambiance was lacking a bit so be sure to have conversation topics picked out in order to avoid awkward silences. Ultimately, I will absolutely come back to this restaurant and recommend it to others as well.
This place is incredibly fresh and tasteful food; they go out of their way to have continually fresh fish. Most other folks have frozen for a large part of their fish offerings. I also like that they offer gluten free options (I.e. soy sauce) and they are very sociable folks when sitting at the sushi bar.
Just wrapped up an early dinner at Taro Sushi and couldn’t be happier with the experience. We ordered the eight-piece sashimi, the Prospect Roll, and the Katsu—and every single dish was excellent. The sashimi was incredibly fresh and beautifully plated, the Prospect Roll had the perfect balance of texture and flavor, and the Katsu was crispy, juicy, and comforting. Service was warm and attentive, and the whole vibe of the restaurant felt relaxed and family-friendly—perfect for an early evening out. Taro is a gem in Danville. We’ll definitely be back!
I called and ordered a roll to go-the Storm roll. It was delicious, and the finest quality and freshness! The owners were there, and the place looks extremely cute inside and also has outside seating. I had never been here before, but will be coming back soon. Very good sushi!
Last night was the third time I've been here. The fish is always very fresh and tasty. Service is friendly, quick and overall excellent. We had the Jedi, the prospect, and a spicy scallop roll. I've been a little worried that the spicy would be too spicy but the waitress assured mean that it's not very spicy and she was right. There was a nice level of warmth on the spicy items and they were not overrun with red chili powder. The spicy scallop hand roll surprise me a little because I saw only scallop. There were no radish Sprouts, cucumbers, Tobiko or seasoning flakes like at other places, but the flavor was really fantastic. I really enjoyed their house sauce that came on a couple of the things we ordered. It added a bit of spice without completely taking over. Great place! Will be back.
Taru Japanese Cuisine is a hidden gem and our go-to place for a celebratory family dinner. The quality of fish and seafood and the generous size of sashimi are unmatched. Always friendly stuff. Try their hotate and hamachi nigiri.

This sushi is absolutely amazingg. I would 100% recommend, the owner gave another complimentary plate of sushi because we were still hungry. I’ve been to so many sushi places and this is my favorite👍🏻👍🏻🔥❤️

This place has gone downhill pretty quickly. My first visit some 8 months ago was great. The quality of the sushi and service was really good. Unfortunately that is no longer the case. My son and I went here last night and the sushi was mediocre at best. The Salmon was very chewy and the Tuna was very fishy. I had to remind our server of our order several times and service overall was pretty slow. The menus they gave us were crumpled up and dirty. We will not be returning
