Another favorite go to spot. The salt and pepper fish is so good. They offer Mongolian BBQ, cocktails, soups, Chinese food. Another favorite is the mandarin garlic chicken and shrimp! I am a frequent visitor!

We have been going to peony Palace for years and we really love the place. It is a great place to go sit and enjoy drinks and have great food and great service. we have introduced this place to quite a few of our neighbors and Friends and they all love it. We've also taken friends and family that have been visiting us out of town and the total consensus is that it is a great place with great food.

My fave Mongolian place in Elk Grove, first of all the ingredients are extremely fresh, the bar is kept icy cold, great selection of veggies and the service is excellent. Much better service than anywhere else in town. Plus, you can order standard Chinese off the menu, and cocktails from the bar, win-win.

This place is one of my go to's. Great prices, kind and quick service from every employee, and since the bar stretches around the corner of the restaurant the noise level is kept lower so you can still have a conversation over dinner. The Canton dinner is a steal at $34, we literally got over 5 lb of food, and it's delicious. They also seemed pretty busy but our food only took 20 minutes so we just relaxed on their furnished patio until it was ready to be picked up.

Tonight it was the latter and I called them after our delivery to share my thoughts on the perfect level of seasoning, Being a 25yr chef and currently health inspector, I thought it was due given the thankless level of work the crew puts in... From my understanding, given it was my late mom's favorite place in Elk Grove, and her raising us in Galt, it's the same pedigree to Hunan House? Not sure on that last front, but love the food.

I love this place. I think they have the coldest Mongolian bbq ingredients in town. The hot and sour soup is really good. And their service is also always good. Even when they are busy. This seems to be a very popular place for locals from the neighborhood. It gives the place a festive atmosphere during the playoffs.

The atmosphere is very casual compared to their slightly more traditional interior. The food comes out very fast compared to other Chinese restaurants and there is a lot more to even their basic dishes than compared to almost all the other Chinese cuisines. Their Mongolian BBQ is extremely generous for the price. Like any other place, you can make your own combination for the sauce but they also have their own arsenal of secret combinations if you don't know what you want. The staff has always been generous and accommodating.

First time visit with my lunch buddy. Just o.k. to me. Nothing to rave about. Service was good, not excellent, beautiful location, clean and easy to locate. I had War Wonton soup an Ragoons. Soup had no flavor rabgoons were good. Because my buddy loves this place, I might try it again. Only because my friend will be treating.

Well I just had different experience as far as the service provided to me. Sorry I had to disagree with the other reviews. Food is great, price is OK, but service was not good. Felt like they were lack of staff. Our server seemed like did not enjoyed her job. FYI: tips are already added to the bill. I paid the bill without checking and tipped on top of the bill. So basically I paid them twice. Next day I found out from my two coworker's that they always add the tips on their own to your bill. Personally I disagree with this kind of business. It should be up to the customers to pay the amount of tips they would love to pay. I did felt the bill was high but I did not do my due diligence before paying the bill. I believe they added $10 as a tip on my bill. I paid them $6 on top of that as a tip. So in total I paid them $16 in tip to a poor service that was provided to me. I do not mind paying $16 in tip if the service would have been excellent.

My family and I have been going here for 10 years. They are fast, friendly, and tasty. Our favorite is the Salty Fish Fried Rice. They have Mongolian BBQ, with a decent variety of ingredients. This place is a staple in the neighborhood and will always be a one of my family's favorites.

Only had 1 person on the hibachi grill cooking on a Saturday night. And he took the liberty of adding a bunch of sauces that I purposely didn't add because I don't like the taste. It made my food very salty. Make sure to tell him to not add any sauce unless he asks. Or tell him to add water instead.

Peony Palace is a great place to go for all you can eat Mongolian BBQ. The last time I went, it was a bit humid inside, but they were really busy, and all the people plus the BBQ table made it slightly uncomfortable. 4 stars overall for food quality, service, and atmosphere.

Clean environment, good food. Servers were loud and rude to each other, but more like in a family way. The restaurant wasn't to packed, maybe they thought that ment they didn't have to be on their best behavior? The first guy (older gentleman) that cooked our Mongolian BBQ made it so good, saw that the amount of oil I had would have made for a bland bowl so threw some more on it, and oh gosh it was so good. Second guy (younger gentleman) did not do the same, my bowl was very dry and bland, couldn't even finish eating it. I know that's more my fault than his, his job is only to cook it, but lame anyways. I'll know better for next time, cause there will be a next time! Also never had a choice of soup before, decided to go with the corn soup, it was very good.

Food was great and the best part is if your not in the mood for Mongolian style you can order from the menu. services was good and they make it a point to connect.

Man I love this place but the vibe has changed. The servers are always awesome but I'm not sure but the mam cooking the Mongolian was super rude and not pleasant. He used to be kind and funny and would talk to us nice when we come in. I wish I could say he was just having a bad day but this was the second time he was rude when we came in and it just made me feel so unwelcome. Still recommend you should try it out the food is always delicious.

No self serve Mongolian but you get to choose from a list and you get plenty of food. You can take what you don't finish home. Of course you can order from the regular menu as well. Masks are required for all. 50% occupancy for seating so it's well spaced out. I had the salt and pepper shrimp with green beans, yummy. They were out of asparagus but still just as good. Flavored really well. Friend had Mongolian. She asked for extra noodles and wished she didn't. She had way too much. She said next time light noodles, extra veggies. She loves veggies. We both enjoyed our meals. Large portions and had leftovers.

Every single item was delicious. We had leftovers, and we took the rest of it home. I'm definitely coming back to try the Mongolian. Oh, I almost forgot the service was good it could have been great if we had got our water refilled, but it's OK.

I love their Chinese food. Every-time, we go there we order indian style dishes which basically means they make it super SPICY. We use to go to GALT for indian style chinese food and the waitress informed us they have another branch in Elk Grove too. AWESOME!!! It was a coincidence that this restaurant is like less than 3 mins from my house. My friends from Folsom love this place too. If you are vegetarian you'll love it too. And price is reasonable

Had the chinese food. It's not very good. The fried stuff is fine but that's hard to mess up. I had the chicken chow mein and black bean sauce prawns, both of which were very salty. The prawn dish was mostly peppers and onions with a few prawns thrown in. And the food isn't exactly cheap either.

Food here is good but their service isn’t very friendly unless you are regular customer. I went for their Mongolian yesterday, they require mask and hand gloves (provided) which is great except their was an Asian lady using bare hands touching all specula and no employee cared to ask her to wear gloves. They stood there until I said something. Just awful while everything is going on and small things like this aren’t being improvised. If I personally see it happening again, I will report them n you should too to keep the community safe. We are trying to support these small business survive what they have suffered but they need to do better than just posting signs. Ps: some employees add too much water in Mongolian sauces instead of refilling them... I wish they would stop being lazy. I go there only because my husband likes few of their dishes. Customer service is really good. Food is great, but prices are pretty high for the portions so I tend to come once every long while. If they could add more like every other take out restaurant did, it would justify the price and I would be a regular since it's nearby.

Food was excellent! The guy who was cooking the Mongolian on the plate was very grumpy. No smile, no thank you. When asked for a to go box, simply said to ask tge waiter. He should find another job if he is not happy. Customer service should be #1 priority.

Cool place to go but they need to clean the walls and floors more often.. There was food on the floor from the previous party. And the water glasses look very old like they need new ones.. Customer service is good though. Nice people.

Chicken was Delicious but they gave us old chow mien that was probably sitting in a heater for hours because that taste seemed off and was also dry. Hopefully It doesn’t happen again because this place usually taste super good.

We used to like coming here, but we don’t return anymore. The Mongolian BBQ was good but the menu items for the Chinese food were just average. What made us stop coming is because it’s dirty. The path to the rest room area and the rest room itself is nasty, and you know if the rest rooms look bad, the kitchen is worse.

We tried out Peony Place after reading good reviews. I’m sorry but I was kind of shocked when the server brought utensils. She handed a spoon, a fork over to me, holding heads not handles. They are not wrapped of napkins. I had a impression it’s not just an accident. We all, customers and restaurants have had excessive experiences of cleanliness over pandemic years. Although we don’t need to be such sensitive to cleanliness, it’s basics for restaurants in terms of serving manners. Food itself is okay, not so impressive, not bad either. Some may like their large portion. But again I would not return again.

Terrible service! Ordered shrimp salad appetizer and egg flower soup. Waitress brought the shrimp salad. Waited 45 more minutes, soup was never delivered. Asked for more water. Request for water was ignored. Won't be back!

Store is dirty, food tasted awful. Glass cups were dirty, steam rice not cooked properly , soy souce bottle sticky, should have walked out when I saw the business owner long dirty nails ,wasted $60.00. Don't go!

I explain the inconvenience of closing early but they workers didn't seem to mind. I called my wife to see what else to order and then they proceed to say the kitchen is now closed. At this point I explain that the guy just told me I could order from the menu instead they just laughed and said nope like it was funny. This is from a place that I've been coming to for years! Based on their customer service and bad attitude, I be no longer giving them my business.

I have no review of the food as I've never eaten here. I did try though. The man behaind the counter at the door was helping people picking up to go orders. Then jumped behind the bar to make drinks. Finally asked us if we were waiting for an order. Got someone to clear a table for us to sit at when we told him we were dining there. Then pointed to it and ran back behind the bar. The table was not wiped down as there were still noodles on it. They might have excellent food but I wouldn't know because I wasn't stickin around.

Over an hour wait for a single combo plate to go order after I was told a 20 min wait. So I had them refund my money so I could just go elsewhere and they said they did but kept the tip… don’t do business here they will lie to you and steal from you

Trying to find a Mongolian bbq place. Drove across town for poor service and salty sauce. The egg rolls were mushy inside. The food looked clean so that's a plus however we had to wait for them to restock the beef. One employee looked at us and walked away. We had to flag one down for help. The places wasnt packed either.

My third time patronizing this business and it will be my last. Every time I have been over charged, and when I call the wait staff out on the error, the attitudes go horrible. The food is OK, nothing to recommend, but its edible. All three of my visits have been during happy hour and the beer is generally just a few degrees cooler than room temperature. While they do make an effort to clean the tables, there are streaks all over, and the tables smell as if the water in the bucket they grab the rags from is 2 weeks old. The menus left on the table are horrid, disgusting, germ infested Petrie dishes. I have not tried the buffet, and the Mongolian style BBQ does smell good while its being prepared. I just think over the 10 years they have been open, this overcharging has to be consistent with more folks than just me. There are far better Asian cuisine options in Elk Grove within 2 miles of this place. My advice, stay away.

9/6/22 early dinner - the place was empty but very dirty. We didn’t notice until after we paid and started to make our bowls. Lots of cross contamination in the meats, veggies, and sauces. The countertops were so dirty even though there was no other customers. The food is usually good so we didn’t say anything. Today we are both sick from the food yesterday and it was the last thing we ate for the day.

Found a hair in my Mongolian Beef and instead of trusting the customer they argued with me and denied replacing it and giving me the runaround “Oh we’ll ask who you talked to and we’ll call you back.” After someone there said they would. I ordered the next day and found a hair in my fried rice. Didn’t even bother to tell them because I know how they are. Don’t bother going here.

Overpriced for the portion you get for takeout. Waited almost half hour for my food while the lady that works there had to look at my receipt a couple times. Waited at the bar watching football which was nice, but was never asked if I wanted a drink ( I would've gotten a beer if I knew how long I'd be waiting). Asian gentleman sat down next to me and was immediately helped. When the food was finally ready the lady practically threw it at me.

I paid for 2 all u can eat, but the chef wasn’t there to make my food. They still made me pay since I had ordered. Why are you taking my order but saying I cant get any food but still have to pay?? They proceeded to get mad at me saying all this bad stuff. They’re actually too greedy. another time I went I walked in, looked at the menu and when I sat down the short lady kept saying you guys are so indecisive do you want to eat here or not? And I needed a second to think and she got annoyed and said again ur so indesisive.

Hi everyone I would like to share my experience at this restaurant I had on 1/8/25. Male waiter long hair was very disrespectful and rude. Upon walking in to this establishment the waiter looked very upset about something. After he brought me some incomplete items I tried to wave down any waiter I could see.l but I was not attended, I got up beginning of my meal to ask for a straw(1) Mid meal I finished my water and again tried to wave any waiter down so that I can request for more water, when I got up with my glass to the waiter and said to him I understand getting my own straw but I have to get up to get my water too? Instantly he exploded on me saying can’t u see I’m busy (he was arranging his front desk by the way) I kept calm In till his complaining went above my calmness and I told him to get me my check I have had enough. I did say to this individual that if your not happy where you work than quit he than kicked me out and told me not to return. I do hope the owners reach out to me because it is us customers who keep your business a float. I will be contacting BBB. I paid for something I didn’t get to enjoy.

Super rude. I wanted a water refill and waited 40 minutes and I asked her and she yelled at me saying are you blind cant u see im busy?? then I said okay sorry dont need to be rude about it and she called me names. Never coming back!

I usually like Peony Palace until I ordered the salt and pepper calamari tonight. I could taste the fried oil in the batter and the calamari was paper thin. I felt like I was getting ripped off.
