We were celebrating my daughter's recent promotion to management at Al Serra and my husband's new job. It was a great dinner delicious actually, conversation was great (not a loud place),pleasant atmosphere, etc. Pretty cool decor! [Clean restroom]
We did my son and daughter in law’s wedding here Dec 21, 2024. It’s was absolutely dreamy. They went ABOVE and BEYOND to make this a perfect event. No detail left undone. We simply had to show up. The food was amazing. Like beyond what we could even imagine and the cocktails were delicious. Heather, the manager even had an adorable and delicious cake made for the bride and groom that fit our Chritsmas theme perfectly. They also did all the decorating. We simply showed up. If you’re looking for top notch food and service in an elegant and trendy atmosphere this is your place. We would highly recommend! By far the best in this area.
Service was impressive, very attentive and good recommendations. Cauliflower wings were delicious. Bird Law and King Harvest drinks became our favorites. The gnocchi is different but very good. Steak egg rolls were the best steak egg rolls we ever had. Every dish came out hot. The dessert pistachio cake and carrot cake were both moist and creamy. This has become one of our favorite restaurants, highly recommended. The restaurant even cut us off from drinking more, which was caring of them. First time that ever happened. We didn't have that many drinks, but they said they serve each drink with 2 ounces instead of 1. The drinks were very flavorful, many becoming favorites. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, a great place to take family, friends, or a date.
The food was exceptional. All three entrees were the best we've had in a restaurant in a long time. The salmon was moist, and not heavily glazed. The filet was perfectly cooked, and of great quality. The entree salad was also excellent. Even the starter salads were amazing. If you're looking for great, quality food, this is the place. I rated 4 stars for atmosphere because the music was loud, so everyone's conversation was shouted, adding to the volume. Not a good place to talk over dinner. That said, the food was so phenomenal that we'll be back. Highly recommend!
The food and atmosphere were exceptional! I chose The Vault for my birthday dinner this year, and it did not disappoint. I had the wagyu steak, medium rare, and cannot believe how tender it was, and cooked perfectly! The best steak I’ve had in a very long time. I am pregnant, so I ordered a virgin strawberry daiquiri and it was delicious! The perfect amount of sweet and tart/sour for me. They even put it in a nice glass, which I appreciated. Our server was the nicest girl - I can’t remember her name but she was awesome and helped me feel very comfortable and welcome with my family and almost 2 year old. We were sat by the front, main window and it was beautiful to see the snowfall during our candlelit dinner. It really elevated our experience. We ordered a side of mac and cheese for my son, who ate almost the entire thing! Dessert was German chocolate cake and caramel cheesecake. I still remember what it tasted like almost 3 weeks later! Everything was delicious overall, and I can’t wait to come back for more. Excellent prices for the quality and portions of food.
Had a great brunch at the vault! We sat upstairs and had excellent service. Food was amazing and you can definitely tell the quality of the food. Atmosphere is vintage/ eclectic and makes for such a fantastic ambiance. Highly recommend!
Loved the Eggs Benedict Trio. Kobe steak and eggs was delicious as well.
I'll have to start this review admitting that I was in a particularly fussy mood that day. We stopped in 3 other restaurants first to look at menus and get a vibe of the place. I kept on saying 'Nope'. Our 4th stop was The Vault. By then, I was wondering if maybe I needed an attitude adjustment on myself. But WAIT. It felt right. It looked right. It was right. Starting with the delightful lady at the door to the bartenders and right down to the food that was in my humble opinion EXTRA GOOD. I had the Harvest Bowl with candied walnuts, brussel sprouts, avocado, brown rice, a grilled mushroom and the best sweet potato slices I've ever eaten. It was perfection. I didn't grab a photo of it but I did take a picture of the beautiful clear square ice cube that was in the middle of Scott's drink because I was equally mesmerized by it. Our bartender server explained where it came from and how it was made and we talked about that ice cube for a half hour and googled the place. That's us. That's how we roll. I'm so glad we rolled into here. It was a great choice I finally made. You should too. Maybe you won't have to stop at 3 other places first.
This was hands down the best meal I’ve had in YEARS. I love beautiful food and beautiful drinks and this place offers BOTH, plus a beautiful ambiance. The steelhead was the loveliest cooked fish I’ve had in ages. My husband thought that the steak quesadilla was the best quesadilla he has ever had. Delicious steak dutch baby as well! Fun 1920s vibes with unique cocktails. The Castor cocktail was the most unique and delicious drink I’ve ever had. Our waiter was the kindest person on the planet; shout-out to Riley!! Thank you for a lovely evening!
This place is a must try for a dinner date or get-together with friends. The food was delicious 😋. The service was excellent for as busy as it was. We had some cocktails to start with. Steak and cheese eggrolls for an appetizer. I got the aged prime rib and my wife got the filet. The atmosphere is romantic with candlelight and flowers. Highly recommend 💚💯💯
The food had a great taste. The server we had was impeccable, he was very attentive and grabbed things off of our table as soon as we were done with it. He was readily available for quick drink refills. It was a little overpriced for what we got.
We had a fantastic experience here. Jared our server was terrific: polite, friendly, and knowledgeable. The cocktails were superb, dinner excellent and everything about the experience has us eager to return!
Great brunch spot. I used Opentable to make a reservation for two on a Sunday and we were seated right away. Cocktails were all fabulous, they make a mean last word. I ordered eggs benedict and we split the blueberry and marscapone pancakes. Eggs were poached perfectly and it came with hash - grilled crispy and delicious. Only a few critiques: the sunflower microgreens were good, but it was hard to avoid the hulls. Additionally, I should have asked if they had maple syrup for the pancakes because it didn’t come with any and although the blueberries were a tasty topping, I had a handful of bites of plain pancake. Still very good pancake, but syrup would have put it over the top. Service was great, food came out hot, and we always had a drink. Would totally come back for another meal to try more dishes.
My first visit to The Vault was amazing. We inadvertantly chose the night of a Daou wine tasting and pairing event, well worth it. The chef prepared 5 unique courses that were excellent pairings with the wines selected. A great evening with amazing food, they really do know what they're doing. The entire staff was on their "A" game and exceptionally pleasant from the hostess to the owner. I dropped a knife on the floor on accident and it was retrieved by a staff member in literally less than 5 seconds, that's impressive. Menu consisted of Scallops, Brie, Tuna, Pork Tenderloin, and a cherry cordial creme. This restaraunt is on par with my favorite spots in Detroit, and I am definitely putting it in my rotation.
The oysters were excellent! The bone marrow was amazing! Drinks were good. Lamb chops were good but not the best I've had. Nice, relaxed atmosphere. Just try not to sit near the door. It's a bit cold.
Enjoyed the great food, drinks and service at the Vault Downtown in Fenton. Sweet Chile Cauliflower Wings (hot wings without the chicken) were a great appetizer. The lobster 🦞 rolls tasted much better than they looked. And finally the craft cocktails were all amazing. While this restaurant is on the pricey side, it is always a great experience.
First time going to The Vault. French Onion Soup was great. Steak Frites and Surf and Turf were delicious and cooked perfectly. Went for my Wife's birthday dinner and the atmosphere was perfect for a romantic dinner for the 2 of us.
Delicious food and a good place to have a nice dinner, staff and a classy atmosphere. One of the nicer places to eat downtown. Oysters were fresh and a good choice on the variety. The Bone marrow was also a wonderful dish. 10 out of 10 recommended.
We had our holiday work party here. The food was delicious the cocktails were superb and the service was amazing.
I’ve never dined in New York or California but as I walked through the doors of The Vault Downtown in Fenton I felt as if this is what it would be like to dine there. As soon as we were seated the servers were all friendly and attentive. The cocktails were unique and carefully crafted to give you bold flavors start to finish. From appetizers to dessert every plate was exquisite. I have been there several times and highly suggest the Farmers Cut, which features locally sourced meats that are paired with sides that compliment the chef’s choice of meat. The prices of the Vault reflect what you are getting which is delectable food and a wonderful dining atmosphere!
The vault was a beautiful and cozy place for our recent rehearsal dinner. Karrie West and her team went above and beyond to make my sons and daughter n laws families enjoy this special evening. The place looked so elegant with candles and flowers, and the charcuterie and food was delicious! Special shout out to the bartender’s who did a great job on the specialty cocktails chosen for that evening. I would highly recommend. Thanks once more to Karrie and the team.
Very cool atmosphere. Delicious menu options. John let me try a French hard cider, the best tasting cider I’ve ever had. 🤙🏾
Super fun vibes 😄 Cool atmosphere. If you are a party of 8 you get lucky and get the vault. It is sung for 8 adults and you have to slide to the back, so if you have high maintenance friends they might not enjoy, but in our group the cool ladies say at the back and we were fine. Great food. Nice professional server. She offered some great options for specials of the day. Drinks were A+! Definitely recommend!
What an incredible environment with the most accommodating staff! We had such a wonderful gathering for a friends birthday and the vault did an amazing job! Our drinks were so tasty the food was fantastic but nothing compares to their staff making everything perfect! What a great place!
The food at the Vault was amazing! My filet mignon was cooked perfectly. Everyone enjoyed their meals! Service...there were 4 of us. Three recieved their beverages right away. I ordered a handcrafted cocktail and waited 20 minutes to finally get it. Our waitress was very nice but not very attentive. During our dinner she finally came around to see if we needed anything, I ordered another cocktail, but again didn't receive it until we were done with our meals and ready to leave. That made everyone have to wait on me to drink my cocktail before we could leave. So my take away is, we definitely will be back but I will skip the cocktails.
I have been here twice and I have thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, the drinks, and the appetizers both times. It's got a fancier vibe, so I would recommend this place if you wanted to go out out for a posh evening. I prefer it here to andiamo and Ciao in every way. I am yet to have a full meal here, and I was going to hold off on leaving review until then. But boy, I've read some of the ludicrous and unfair bad reviews this place has gotten. Get a life people. Someone left a bad review because they charged a couple of percent for using a credit card. Well, bring cash next time. Someone else complained that the workers dared to smoke cigarettes on their break. You've never heard of a chef that smoked cigarettes? Have you ever watched Anthony Bourdain? Anyway, five stars because I do like it here but also to counterbalance some of the insane reviews.
Everything was excellent. The service was good. They had a "social hour" at lunchtime so we had a very nice glass of wine for $6. The menu selections were varied. Food was excellent.
Classy place for a Sunday brunch. Coffee was fresh and gluten free options. Food was phenomenal for all selections. Not handicap accessible. Soda drinks come with the can as well. Pancakes are enough for 2 people. Some live music as well.
Food was excellent. Our server was very friendly and entertaining but service was slow and they forgot our appetizer. Missing our appetizer is just not acceptable after spending $350+ for the 4 of us. Nothing was done about this issue. No manager or adjustment. We sat down at 4:46 on a Friday. My wife had to add salt to her filet but the cut of meat was excellent. My porterhouse “special” was amazing. I would go back to just eat the crab hushpuppies. The menu is very interesting and unique. There are so many things we want to try if we go back. We want to go back but I need a reason to. If I go back I’m sure I can do 5 stars.
Cute restaurant with the lunch menu/food being as what you might expect. Beautiful food display and portion size, not overly delicious by any means. The whole experience didn’t blow us away. If you enjoy a great whitefish dip, they definitely do that well here! Super friendly staff however service itself was mediocre. Will give it a second shot for dinner to see if the evening entrees are a bit better.
Great food, but exceedingly pricey. The cauliflower wings are fire and prob the best ive had. The burger was 10/10. Wedge salad was good, as well. House cocktails are all ~$15 each. Some are great, like the Anodyne, but some are mid, like the one with Green Chartreuse, which tasted watered down. Nice atmosphere, but can get crowded when at capacity (duh, right? Lol). For 2 people, we got 4 cocktails (2 each), 2 apps, 1 dinner salad and 1 burger, which we split. Total was about $160, without tip, which is outrageous, imo, despite the food being stellar. 50/50 if we will return.
This place reminded me of the restaurant on top of the GM building in Detroit. Very detailed luxury design. Classy place, however the bar tender that was working “the longer shift” was unprofessional, overly playing out his long work day, I could feel the tension between the two male bar tenders. However the other male bartend was a gem but seemed frazzled with too much going on. I got the crab cakes and they were delicious!
Sunday brunch. Love that there is a live DJ playing music, not too loud just perfect. Great service at the bar and food was really good. Bartender made excellent drinks. Only down side, there is only one bathroom and is shared by both men and women.
The brunch crepes and hippie hash were delicious. The hippie hash was generous and two meals worth. The crepes were appetizer size, and should be on that menu rather than the main one. Order a side dish with it to not leave hungry.
Prices are more on the high side, as expected from a premium-style restaurant. Food is good, nice portion sizes. We had a charcuterie board that arrived on a HUGE bed of lettuce and had very little cheese. Cut the salad and add more cheese!!
I’m not writing this for a free meal or any type of reason other than I feel it needs to be said. I have been wanting to go to the vault since it opened, we finally were able to go on Friday. The server was nice but the service was very slow. Our server apologized for her taking so long but no one told her we were seated in her section. The atmosphere is very cool. However, for the prices we were left very disappointed. We don’t mind paying a higher price tag for a great night out but the drinks are incredibly small and overpriced. The food was good, nothing ground breaking. My partner got a burger and couldn’t eat the full thing so for it to go. When we got home he started eating the burger and found metal in the burger! We understand things happen and this could have been a simple mistake but combine this with the heavy prices and we were very disappointed.
My Omelette was just ok, it was warm and my $5 cup of coffee was barely warm. After reading the other reviews, I’m not the only one who doesn’t care for the restaurant. We had a party of 11 so I guess they automatically charge a 20% tip, not happy about that. That’s what I normally leave anyway, but I like deciding how much the service was worth.
Good food. Good service. Good atmosphere. -1 Star for every percentage point you charged me for using a credit card. I have no problem with this practice at a "mom and pop." It's harder for me to rationalize in a place that's serving craft cocktails and sandwiches that are nearly $20. Is this review dumb? Maybe. Not as dumb as the fee though.
My wife and I used to love going to the vault for dinner and drinks. However the last couple of times we've went, we've felt the service hasn't been as great as it was and the food was overly salted and just a little lackluster overall. We were also hoping they would start to update their menu but it has stayed the same and they seemed to have taken off the chicken entree that we found to be delicious. Just disappointed, loved the vibe in there and the cocktails were always pretty good too but lately the food has not been as good as it once was.
I have eaten here once and I cannot even recall the experience because it has been overshadowed by my numerous attempts to come back. No reservations past 230pm on open table and every single time I call, I am sent to an answering machine. What kind of restaurant does not have hosts answering phones and you expect me to leave a voice mail? Pick up your phones and start giving better service or this place will not last long. Very disappointed
My girlfriend and I stopped in one evening to have a drink at the bar and possibly dinner. The female bartender asked what we wanted (with a scowl). we told her. I asked, "Do you smile?" She responded, "Do have to?" and walked away. There was another male bartender, big guy with a beard (also scowling) as he walked by the front of us behind the bar, his hand clipped a few bottles and glasses making a loud clinking noise. This made me jump pretty good in my seat. The male bartender turned to me, and in a snarky condescending tone said, "You're ok here, this is a safe space for you," redirecting everyone seated at the bar from his clumsiness. I served over 24 years in the U.S. Army, and have been in places and environments that I imagine he has never seen. I think I earned the right to be a bit jumpy. He should be more considerate and think before he makes a snide comment. I am no snow flake and do not require a "safe space." What I do expect is respect, friendly, kind service, not snarky and rude. Won't be going back. It's a shame, because the inside of this place is gorgeous, staff, not so much.
Got sat and waited 11 minutes for someone to acknowledge the table. Were getting up to leave when the server came with a carafe of room temp water and no ice, but was very friendly and accommodating when asked for ice. Food was meh, at best. Sticky rice in poke bowl was neither sticky nor cooked all the way. French dip was allowed to leave the kitchen with a gelatinous blob of what looked like onion jam as the au jus. When asked, the server kindly and quickly brought out a cup of what looked like au jus but upon further inspection, was the same blob of onion at the bottom of the cup with some liquid on top. Overall, service was extremely slow but very friendly, food was not worth the price (as a comparative, they have chicken fettucine alfredo on the menu for $35!!) and the tables were inches apart, so truly no privacy. I can forgive the service if the food is amazing, and the place looks like it could have a cool vibe, but in this case, I cannot recommend The Vault until some pretty dramatic improvements are made.
I was so excited about making reservations here to take my mom out for her birthday. The woman who took the "reservation request" wasn't super friendly but friendly enough. The manager that called back to confirm the reservations, Janet I think, was wonderful and very friendly. Fast forward 2 weeks to today; I received a phone call an hour before our reservation to confirm. The woman that called wasn't the most friendly, as once I confirmed but before I could thank her and say have a good day or anything of the sort, she had already ended the call without a word. When we arrived for our reservations, who I assume was the manager, let us know they had reserved the table inside the vault itself; we enjoyed having a space to ourselves, especially when dining with a baby. Our waiter, Julian, came in with 2 carafes of water for the table and took our drink order. After our order for dinner was taken, our waiter never came back to the table until summoned. Two other gentlemen brought our soups and salads; Anna saw our empty bowls and cleared them for us but our waiter was still nowhere to be seen. Two more gentlemen came to deliver our main dishes and still, our waiter had not come to check on us, even though he was standing right outside the door and dealing with other guests. We sat with empty carafes for 45 minutes and we had to call our waiter over, as we were halfway through our dinner and needed assistance. We had asked for sour cream as our baked potatoes were so dry, they would crumble as we tried to eat them; someone else asked for ketchup for their french fries; we never did get any drink refills, even on the paid-for drinks. By the time he finally brought the items, 15 minutes later, we had given up on eating the rest of our meal as it had gotten cold or was too hard to eat as is. Most of the steaks were overcooked; I had asked for mine to be rare and my husband asked for medium but mine was cooked more than his! Our waiter, Julian, was one of the worst waiters we have ever had; he needs to be retrained so he understands what customer service is as well as standard practice when serving tables. Please know, they do not have high chairs, so if you have a baby, stay away or plan to hold them the entire time. We will NOT be back as this place is not worth the money. I am still fuming and regretting even leaving a tip.
First time there and probably wont return. Our waitress didn't come greet us or give us menus for 5-7 minutes. Mind you this place was not busy when we stopped in, The service was very slow and the waitress just didn't care for her job.. I got the "lobster roll" and it was basically lobster and crab chunks in hot dog buns for 35 dollars but it also came with fries. The owner needs to get on the employees because they're sitting on their phones and hangin out with other co-workers instead of helping their only two customers they have upstairs. The inside of the place was though.
As someone with years of fine dining experience as a server, I am more than understanding of the service industry, but our experience certainly left a lot to be desired. While the food was good, the ambiance of the restaurant was chaotic and the waitstaff was beyond unprofessional. Our server had only one other table and was noticeably incoherent from the moment we sat down. Not only did we wait for over 30 minutes for our drinks (wine and beer), but also our server continuously blamed the kitchen and bartenders for the poor service which made our dining experience even more awkward. The manager generously took things off our bill, but failed to apologize, genuinely address what had happened, or check back in with our table. Given the expensive prices and our overall experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant but hope to have my mind changed in the future.
The food is great but the service was terrible and extremely rude. Our bartender Mark told us that I needed to quiet down. I was speaking to a 86 year old hearing impaired woman named Deborah and her son at the far end of the bar. I am also hearing impaired and when I said as much, Mark stated I offended someone further up the bar. When I offered to pay the tab of the unnamed couple and to apologize, Mark refused to tell me who it was or to pay for the tab. I talked a bit louder because the atmosphere was extremely loud and overpacked!!
I have loved going to the vault. I live pretty far away but when I'm in the area I always stop in. Unfortunately after checking the hours. I invited some friends who live over an hour away to come try it with me on Monday only to find out they are closed even though it says online they are open.
We ordered two martinis… they arrived 20 minutes later with a half full restaurant. We ordered 4 salads with our meals, and 3 of them came out and were consumed before the 4th salad was delivered. I’ve lived in Fenton for 14 yrs and never had such poor service. Spoke with the mgr on my way out and she could not have cared less. We won’t be coming back. Ever.
We were excited to try The Vault for a birthday dinner. Reservations were made but not before being warned of a $30/person charge if you cancelled or changed the number of people in your party. This should have been warning enough for me. When we arrived, we were welcomed with a "What can I do for you?" by a young greeter that was less than friendly. By the look on her face, I could sense she wanted to tell us they were full and turn us away. This is a busy place so I wouldn't dare just waltz in without a reservation. As a party of 4, we enjoyed our dinners and several drinks, so the bill was rather large. As I was finishing my meal, the waitress seemed to be rushing us for an unknown reason. I had fries that I wanted to take home and had one bite of sandwich left. As I was taking my last bite, she literally took my plate with my Au Jus dipping sauce right out from under me. I had to catch drips with my hand. A few minutes later, the waitress notified us that we needed to leave as another reservation was coming in at 8:30. I would have been alright with this if she would have told us 15 to 30 minutes before, but she waited until 8:25! If you have a policy that limits the amount of time you can enjoy dinner and drinks with friends, you had better post it in a conspicuous place! I felt like they didn't want us there from the beginning. This is not how you treat customers that drop $400 on dinner! If you want a pretentious atmosphere and love spending $200 for two people to eat & drink by all means visit The Vault. This is Fenton not Birmingham or Rochester Hills. I will never be back!
Our visit yesterday started off poorly when we walked up the side street sidewalk and passed the cooks outside smoking cigarettes — not a great first impression. Inside, the service and meal continued to disappoint. One of our salads arrived with no dressing, and two of our meals were served well before the other two. By the time the last dishes and that salad finally showed up, our earlier meals were already cold. We had to ask multiple times for condiments like ketchup and mustard, and I didn’t receive my Diet Coke until I was already halfway through my cold meal. The bread service also felt unreasonable: $8 at dinner ($4 at lunch) for only four small slices of baguette. Being charged $4.50 for a single Diet Coke on top of that only added to the frustration. To make matters worse, a high-pitched vacuum ran during the meal, which was irritating not just for me but also for my 81-year-old mother. She even commented that it wasn’t the worst restaurant experience she’s ever had — but it was close. Adding to the negative atmosphere, the woman at the front (acting as hostess or hostess/manager) loudly carried on a conversation about planning a party for another patron less than six feet from our table. She seemed quite proud and entirely oblivious to the fact that our table chatter was centered on our poor service, mediocre food, and all of the other issues we experienced. At best, the food was mediocre on this visit. Combined with the service, atmosphere, and overall value, this was a thoroughly disappointing experience. I do not recommend this restaurant.
