So glad to return here after stop coming, totally different atmosphere but same lovely sam there and also landen.... back as a regular customer, mini lunch menu is perfect for us

Beautiful countryside pub, friendly staff and spotlessly clean throughout. Refurbished to a very high standard a couple of years ago and the staff and management have this place looking fantastic. Set on a hillside this pub has a great vista when sitting in the beer garden

We were on a visit back to the north east and popped in for lunch. It was such a lovely experience we booked for the following sunday too. Both times the food was absolutely excellent, the service was fantastic and the pub is really welcoming with a great atmosphere. The staff could not have been friendlier. I'm looking forward to returning :)

Had my first mixed grill at this fabulous establishment. Very good quality of food, presentation, service and price. There is free parking and ample outdoor seating, including tables and the front, side, and rear. Plenty of indoor seating also. Beautiful interior. I will definitely be returning. Would of rather had chunky triple cooked chips but still very nice. Huge portion.

The staff were lovely, Emma and Leon. And it was Emma who served us , she was so friendly, helpful and very professional. The food was good value and it tasted amazing. All in all a great lunch out. Thank you

Food was excellent, the two ladies waiting on were 1st class, pleasant, friendly, they helped create a friendly atmosphere. Spot on, It's a while since we've been here but it won't be that long until our next visit.

I always get seen to by a lovely girl called Emma, nothing is ever to little or too much, not only is the food and atmosphere fantastic the service is exceptional

Highly recommend the mushroom on sourdough bread for the starter and, well, the cheese and bacon burger did not disappoint either as you can see by the great portions. First time here and it may be my favourite place in a long time. They allow doggos, have a nice big beer garden and plenty of parking. Loads of drinks to choose from as well. Just an all round lovely place but again, the mushroom and stilton on sourdough takes the win. Cannot recommend enough.

Lovely evening at The Ship catching up with a mate. Good beer, good food (I recommend the chicken tenders with Southern style gravy) and a fantastic barmaid Mia. Absolutely spot on!

Warm welcome as I came in from Emma and Mia smiles as well,a large and good selection of beers and spirits. Plenty of seating inside and out the staff are accommodating for arranging extra seating there's also a wood burner which I can imagine would be homely in winter time.also very dog friendly.

Popped in for a couple of pints over New Year - the barmaid Emma was fab. The pub was really busy and she was the only person on, but she did it all with a smile on her face. True credit to the team and we will return!

Emma who came to the bar, welcomed us warmly, showed us to a great table for 3 , was helpful, attentive and delightful throughout our lunchtime visit. The food very delicious and great option of lunchtime specials too plus full main which husband and son had !

We were out for a walk and popped in for the lunchtime special which includes a drink, the food was lovely and the service was excellent, Emma served us and nothing was too much trouble for her, she’s lovely. This really was excellent value, get yourself to The ship and try it yourself

Visited for lunch today. I was served by Emma & Nieve who were delightful. Professional; friendly and welcoming. This pub is a real gem. It never disappoints. A good range of beers & lagers and a good range of options on the menu. Thank you.

As always when we visit, the service was exceptional from Emma and the kitchen staff. Nothing is ever a problem for Emma, who looked after our table of six (and Ted our dog) with customer focused precision. A great afternoon with fantastic food.

Had a lovely Sunday roast with the family. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. Great service and staff. Only one suggestion would be that the dinners are missing mashed potatoes. Deserts were fantastic as well 😊

Great food and atmosohere. Called in for lunch and was made to feel welcome straight away and all through my stay by a lovely young lady called Nieve. Perfect service and food. We’ll defiantly be back

This is a great pub whether you’re looking for somewhere with your friends and family to have a drink or food it’s perfect. The majority of the bar staff are as good as it’s comes, those being Neve, Mia, Fran, Lauren, They always come with great service and a polite attitude. There is one member of staff that’s often rude and awkward but that shouldn’t put you off, roll down and get a beer with a great view 👍

Fran wa sour waitress, yes we had a few problems with the food but it was a really busy day. Frankly sorted everything out, the manager was amazing. Have to say 10 out of 10. Amazing views, amazing staff. Would absolutely recommend this place.

We had a lovely afternoon at The Ship today! All the food was delicious, the staff could not have been lovelier and they were so welcoming to our little boy. They went to extra efforts to make sure his food was served just how he likes it and he absolutely loved his ice cream sundae! They were having a particularly busy spell when we arrived so food took a little while, but it was worth the wait and the service was great. Our new local. We’ll be back!

A family (inc. dogs) friendly pub, with a few cracking bikers thrown in the mix! Meals are delicious, beer is kept well, and staff are amazing! Becoming more popular by the day.

Had really nice lunch on Tuesday, £11 for main and drink, very impressed would defiantly recommend.

Everything was great but there website was out dated . This needs updating that is very old . Looks nothing like what it shows once you get into the pub / restaurant. But food and staff great 👍. Dogs friendly in bar area was great

Great all round. Food and atmosphere was great as are the views. Just took a while for food to arrive. Draughts on tap we’re outstanding, one of the best line-ups around.

Very popular place with loads of outdoor seating and beautiful views across the hills towards Co.Durham. Varied menu and regular music.

Nice beer selection, friendly staff and excellent outside seating with vast views

Upon arrival we were greeted by the sight of a female kitchen worker leaning against a waste skip in her chef jacket while making a phone call (not great). We went inside and were met by a lovely young lady called Nieve who directed us to a table and gave us menus. We ordered 2 “dirty burgers” with chilli salt fries and a couple of kids meals, 3 soft drinks and a Moretti. All tasted great and were served in correct glassware, etc… There were a decent amount of guests and there was a nice background burble of chatter and laughter from the bar and dining area creating a nice atmosphere. When our food arrived, I pointed out that neither burger had chilli salt fries, and they were taken away and “fixed” by dumping a hefty tablespoon of seasoning over the top. Maybe the chips could have been quickly put on a bowl and tossed in the seasoning? Not just a “that’ll do” and throwing it over the top, it’s just lazy. The burgers themselves were overcooked and very dry and chewy, the mac and cheese on top was lukewarm and bland. Nieve came back to do a check back after a few minutes and we asked for the beef dripping gravy that was meant to come with our burgers, she came back from the kitchen full of apologies as they didn’t have any available (it was almost 2pm, kitchen should probably communicated this when food service started). Kids burger was also very dry, nuggets got a thumbs up though. Upon leaving, a group of people outside were also talking about how the chicken on those plate was “awful” and “dry as sticks”, so it looks like it wasn’t just us who were less than impressed. This is my second visit, and second bad experience with the quality of food on offer. There won’t be a third.

The pub is located at a lovely area. The space inside is cozy and friendly. I love that it is also pet friendly. Two things disappointed me and made me not want to eat there again: A) We waited for a very long time for our food, ~45 mins if not longer! And this is despite the fact we had booked the table in advance and arrived on time. Note that it was also quiet and no other table was waiting for food at that time. B) I ordered a coffee and when the waitress brought it out she put it right in front of my one year old who was sat in the high chair, instead of myself or my partner, putting my baby in danger of burning himself. And it was scolding hot. 😬 Unacceptable!

The ladies toilet was a nightmare on elm st ! Seriously need to upgrade this facility Without going into detail I found the whole experience extremely embarrassing

Disappointing. Booked a table for my wife's birthday via their online booking service only to be told the kitchen had been closed all day when we arrived at 7.30pm. Despite having my email and phone number, no one thought of contacting me to save us a wasted journey.

Visited this place 6.30pm, bought drinks, ordered food, waited 45 minutes to then be told there was no belly pork, and so we changed the order. Waited 15 minutes to be told there was no chicken. Asked for a refund, which will take 48/72hrs, what poor customer service. This is not a way to run a pub/restaurant. An hour was wasted and still hungry. Very poor service, we will not be going here again. Should have just gone to The Engine Rooms, we will in the future.
