Well, I’m not sure if y’all have tried WhiskyWoods yet, but if you haven’t, you are definitely missing out. It was like bringing a piece of fine dining in Dallas to Glen Rose, but even better. The atmosphere was absolutely amazing. Very classy, but also the “down home” feeling. I felt like part of the family as soon as I walked in. I was even given a grand tour of an incredibly beautiful restored piece of history. The food was “melt in my mouth” delicious. I had the scallops and every bite was perfect. They even created the “Toi” drink just for me, so be sure and ask Jason for it when you stop in. Perfect for game nights or just a nice evening with the honey, which I am bringing with me next time. He’s gonna love it. It was a pleasure to meet the super cool ,laid back owner Steve, the wonderful bartenders Jason, and Matt and the very talented chef Scott. All in all I give this place a 10/10 and will be back again and again. Thank you for bringing something so wonderful to our little town of Glen Rose. 🙌 Support local and tell them Toi sent ya 👍🥰👏
WOW, the place isn't quite all open yet but everything was excellent. From the cocktails to the desert. Very nice looking bar (which is what is open for now). Cody was our server and he knocked it out of the park. Great suggestions and insights into the menu, drinks, apps, wine and steaks. Wedge salad with bacon and Bleu cheese was delicious, Beautiful ribeyes perfectly med rare and they were happy to split one for me and my wife with 2 plates and sides. The mashed potatoes were ok but could have been better in my opinion but everything else was a 10. I've included a couple pictures here, I will definitely be back.
Where do I start....when I say I'm a stickler on service I mean it. This place had THE BEST service I've ever had despite the server being busy. Jeni was Amazing and really made sure our visit was the best it could be. It was our 4 year anniversary and we were greeted with nice friendly service as soon as we stepped inside. We were also greeted with a nice glass of some great tasting wine from the house for our anniversary. I'm quick to write a review when I have a positive or negative experience and let me tell you this place exceeded all of my expectations. The service was the best we have had in all of the dfw area, the steak OH MY GOD that stake was THE BEST I've had in my entire life. I'm so happy we have another stake house option than what we normally go to. Wednesday night is there "sushi" night and don't be hesitate. I don't remember the name but their sushi was DELICIOUS, it was topped with some type of stake. Then there's the stake, that's stake was THE best stake I've had in my entire life and I mean that. As soon as they first bite hit my tongue a smile came to my face, it's that good. My wife likes her stake WELL done and this place NAILED it while also keeping the stake nice a juice. Not an easy task by any means. I order my stake medium and they cooked it perfectly. You can see the A1 in the photo but it didn't get touched, the stake is THAT good. I can't wait until we get to visit again and get to experience the great service and even better food. Thank you so much for being part of our wedding anniversary!! We 100% recommend yall!
Best steak we have ever had. And we eat a lot of steak! All the food was great. Food had wonderful flavors. Sweet tea delicious. Waitress was on point. Very nice, friendly, and professional had a smile on her face from the time she sat us down until the time we left. Place was spotless. Bathrooms were so spotless. The hand soap smelled amazing. And well stocked. If I could give 100 ⭐️ stars I would. We all were so impressed. Thank you for a great experience. We will be back soon.
What a remarkable place ! From the Food and I wanted to share my review here also ! Review for WhiskyWoods ! The decor was amazing and beautiful . Very inviting and it was very clean . Taylor our server , was attentive , concise and made sure we were well taken care of through our whole meal . All the staff was kind , made eye contact and greeted us , even if they weren’t directly caring for our table . The food , was beyond spectacular! I had muscles as my appetizer . My entree was , Beef filet with whipped potatoes and greens . My husband had quail wrapped bacon as an appetizer, crusted cat fish as his entree and we shared a cream brûlée. From the temperature of my steak to his Catfish it was perfect. The cream brûlée has to be the best thing I have ever tasted ! Even though there was live music in the dining room you couldn’t hear it . There was absolutely no interruption . It was packed both in the bar and restaurant and it didn’t affect our experience at all !
We had a group of 12. Jonathan was our waiter. He's awesome. The specialty drinks were really good but the food....omgoodness wow, delicious. We started with the hummus, amazing bread, and ahi Tuna nachos (must have). Entrees included ribeye, meatloaf, short rib and animal burger. We all loved our dishes! Definitely going back!
We went to dinner on a Friday. The service was great! Our waiter was fun and interacted with us with great humor. The adult beverages were delicious! We shared the Bootlegger salad and that was a fantastic salad. The flavors were so good! I ordered the Beef short ribs and the flavor was amazing, the beef tender and moist. I will definitely be ordering that again. My husband ordered a New York strip, it was cooked perfectly! The steak was great! Then we ordered dessert, the bread pudding and a cheese cake. Both were delicious and worth the calories.
Top notch!! This place is always so good. We always stop here when in Glen Rose. Very generous portions. Get the foie gras appetizer and turnip bread pudding side, amazing! Ask for Heather, she’s the best!
This place is definitely worth the stop! Food is so good, don’t skip on the greens. They are amazing!!! The Steak and scallops were perfect. We also had Calamari, tuna nachos and the quail it was all awesome.
This is an excellent restaurant in a historic building two blocks from the town square. The food was very good, and wait staff was friendly, helpful and very attentive. The steak was cooked to perfection. And the wedge salad was one of the best I've ever had.
We've been looking for a good steak house since fly by night cattle company closed, accidentally found this while surfing the Internet glad we did. Absolutely perfect meal, wife had crusted catfish and I had their steak. We will certainly be coming back. Nothing negative to say at all! Theodore
A true Texas atmosphere and my steak rivaled that of what I'd get for the same price in New York. Corey the server was excellent and knew exactly where to fill a glass of wine so that it could still breath. Would go again but I am visiting from Manhattan so maybe next year? Who knows but it was enjoyable!
Old Fashion Starter Quail Appetiser Filet Dinner Chocolate Lava Cake W/ Red Wine Dessert. Exceptional. Heather Nicole Oversaw Our Night. She Is A Fantastic Server. This Night Was Greatness.
Angel M. was the best waiter for us tonight, bringing us some of the best restaurant bought steaks we have ever had! We will be making multiple trips back.
Excellent spot!! The food was incredible and all the waitstaff were extremely attentive and kind. Would definitely come back again and again. Thank you Rex and Chef Scott and the whole crew!!
We come to Glen rose about 2x a year for barrel races and when I tell you we eat here at MINIMUM once a day I’m not lying. Their tuna crisp nachos and French 75’s become our personality and the bartender remembers our order. I would highly recommend giving them a try if you’re in town!! Truffle fries hit the spot too
Jacob is the very best server we have ever had. The food, drinks and desert were all top notch. Whiskey Woods is a cut above the rest. We will be back and always ask for Jacob
We selected Whiskey Woods Steak House to celebrate Valentine’s Day with my husband, our son and his date, and our granddaughter. Upon arrival, the restaurant was understandably busy, as several parties shared the same reservation time; however, both the staff and fellow guests handled the situation with patience and grace. Once seated, our server, Cory, provided exceptional service from the start. He offered sincere apologies for the brief delays and graciously welcomed us with complimentary champagne, which was a thoughtful and appreciated touch. Our beverages were beautifully prepared, and our entrées were delivered at just the right time, shortly after we finished our appetizers. Given the significance of the evening and the large crowd, we did not expect flawless service; nevertheless, the kitchen and staff performed seamlessly. Each dish was prepared to perfection and thoroughly enjoyed by our entire table. We concluded the evening with coffee and dessert, which was a lovely and fitting end to an outstanding dining experience. We are delighted to have discovered a new favorite and look forward to returning to explore the brunch menu. Whiskey Woods Steak House is truly worth the drive.
The overall experience here was amazing! The food was absolutely incredible and the staff is very attentive. We ordered the Doneathose quail and Ribeye steak. It was cooked to perfection, the knife slid through the steak like butter! The restaurant ambiance is great, comfortable. We will be back!
Lovely steakhouse with a nice and quiet ambiance The staff was welcoming and attentive. They gave us a free dessert for my boyfriend’s birthday which was nice We ordered the bacon wrapped quail and toasted garlic butter bread for appetizers, both of which were absolutely delicious We got turkey and pork chops for the main dish…the meats were juicy and cooked to perfection I would love to try other menu items if I visit Glen Rose again, hopefully soon
We were looking for a fine dining experience to celebrate my husband's birthday, but didn't want to go into Fort Worth. I was initially surprised to hear about WhiskeyWoods when I saw it was in Glen Rose, but the picture of the restaurant and food looked great. There are different menus depending on if you sit in the dining room vs. the bar area, but I was told there are regular tables available in the bar area as well. We chose the dining room. Our server was wonderful; I felt like he was reading my mind! Every time I'd decide on an item, he'd come over to the table and recommend that same item, so I had confidence in my decision. The food was wonderful. It's a bit pricey, but we had an appetizer, two half salads, entrees, drinks, and dessert. It's a nice place to go out for a big celebration
Great cocktails and food in a relaxed yet stylish spot. The bartender is very good and knowledgeable. The bar has a good selection. Food wise, the quail wrapped in bacon is fantastic. Must try. The raw oysters may not be in the regular menu, but the chef was kind to us and served us raw oysters.
Fantastic experience! Me and my husband have been to many fine dining spots (a lot of Gordon Ramsey places), I was unsure we’d find anything like that in Glen Rose. We tried the bacon wrapped quail which had a mango sauce that was just heavenly. We also got the pork chop and the scallops. Everything was extremely well executed and exceeded our expectations! The waiter was very attentive and was helpful in narrowing down what dishes we should try. Cody is a fantastic waiter and really made our experience top notch. And as for the chef, he curates some wonderful dishes that were just….. chef kiss! We tried a different place to eat the following nice and regretted not coming back to Whiskey Woods instead. We can’t wait to drive back in from Dallas and try out new dishes as the menu evolves. The location is right in the heart of downtown, we were same to walk right in and get a seat. We were initially going to sit in the bar area but it had a completely different ambiance compared to the dining room; we swapped to the main dining without an issue. Only downside (during winter), the vents are extremely strong and work well, great for summer but I was pretty chilly!
We went there on a Saturday night. They were busy, we came in a little early for our reservation, and they already had our table available and waiting on us. From the hostess, to our waiter, Jake, to the manager, they were beyond professional. The food and the presentation were incredible. Can’t wait to go back with another set of friends. Here are the items we ordered, braised short ribs, Mediterranean style Chilean Seabass, and the filet.
Great place, we had appetizers. Calamari was perfectly done. BBQ shrimp sauce is delicious. Be back for entrees next time.
Happy Anniversary, Mr&Mrs Hayes! And this made is complete. Jeni our server was amazing. The bootleger salad was great. Scallops cooked perfect and the sauce, Well lets say they could put that on everything!! Yum! My husband's steak was the melt in your mouth perfect! The potatoes were so light & fluffy. The Gumbo was full of flavor shrimp & sausage, and don't sleep on the bread on the side! Thanks for a great anniversary experience and we will come back when the live music starts up again. 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟
We enjoyed this beautiful speakeasy prohibition style steakhouse with its rich wood interiors and intimate but fun dining atmosphere! They even have live music! We enjoyed a drink in the bar side of this restaurant, then over to the dining room with friends! Angel was our fantastic server in the dining room! He has a great sense of humor. We loved the young man, Conner, whose aspirations will take him far. What a wonderful staff! Oh, and the food? Undeniably fabulous! We enjoyed appetizers, diver scallops, perfectly cooked steaks, desserts and whiskeys and wines! What an entertaining evening with many laughs!

I love a memorable dining experience, and this was exactly that! It was one of the best meals I've eaten, but it doesn't stop with the food. The service and the atmosphere kept the entire experience top-notch. Highly recommend!
Love the amazing cuisine and superb drinks ! The service is above and beyond the norm. Randy served us and tended to our bar needs . He deserves a raise!!
Great entrees, drinks and desert. Seafood gumbo was the best we've had in Texas!! We lived in New Orleans for years, so we know good gumbo! The entrees ( beef filet and scallops) were excellent and the servers were wonderful. This was our first visit, but won't be our last! A real gem in Glen Rose. Go see for yourself!
Whiskey Woods Steakhouse – Glen Rose, TX Whiskey Woods Steakhouse is an absolute gem in Glen Rose. The 1920s Prohibition-era ambiance is incredible—vintage period décor, soft lighting, and music instantly sets the mood. It truly feels like stepping back in time to a classy Speak Easy. The atmosphere alone makes the visit memorable. The food matches the vibe perfectly. The steaks are cooked to perfection—tender, flavorful, and seasoned just right. I highly recommend the scallops as well, they are perfectly prepared and literally melt in your mouth. The sides are excellent, prepared in house, and the portions are generous. The staff is friendly, attentive, and genuinely committed to making sure you have a great experience. If you’re looking for a place with amazing food and unforgettable ambiance, Whiskey Woods Steakhouse delivers in every way. Easily the best dining experiences in Glen Rose!
We had the Whiskey Woods Tasting menu including a 5 course meal. It was fantastic! Every course delicious & the staff was very attentive. Chef came out to see us! A great hidden gem for sure. We will return.
Came here for lunch on a Saturday and returned on Sunday for brunch. We ate in the bar area both times. The atmosphere was beautiful and the service was hands down the best. Randy was our waiter and also the bar tender. His service was outstanding. Very attentive, but always at the perfect time. He offered drink suggestions and got it right every time. The food was delicious. The brussel sprouts were amazing. I’m always a fan of Brussels sprouts but these were exceptionally flavored and cooked. Even my mother, who would never eat them, tried and liked them. Brunch was so good! I had the bananas foster French toast bake and did not regret that decision. GET THE BACON! They know how to cook bacon- it was so good. And the coffee…. Amazing! The mimosas are a must. Overall there was nothing disappointing about this place. Every detail- down to the hand towels in the bathroom- is well thought out and deliberate. We have no real reason to come back to visit Glen Rose in the future but you better believe I’m gonna be finding one, just to have another meal here.

When they’re on a Saturday night ended up being just a little bit busy everything tasted great. My wife got a burger. I got a steak. Everything was cooked to perfection. We were there a little bit longer than we expected but expected for being busy place but if you’re going there to get something fast, don’t go there if you want to spend casualty time in a great place go ahead and give it a try it’s worth it
We got the steak filet that was perfectly cooked with a wine reduce sauce. It was delicious, but could have cooked longer because it had a strong alcohol taste to it. The scallops were also delicious and cooked perfectly. The drinks were good, server was great, and the lay out was very chill. Definitely recommend this place. It would be better if they had more than 3 steak options since they’re called a steak house.

Had the Steak and the Chorizo, bacon, fig appetizer. It was all good my only complaint was that the food was lukewarm at best. I liked the atmosphere and everyone was nice.
We walked in the bar entrance and were greeted by a friendly young lady Heather she took care of me and a good friend! We ordered salads with steak! So delicious! Great drinks and amazing desserts! When I go back I want Heather to wait on me. She even saw that we exited safely! Jane Whitworth
Wife enjoyed her beef ribs. I had the “black angus” ribeye. It was seasoned great, cooked perfect but was the toughest most chewy ribeye I remember ever having. Very disappointed. I highly doubt this was black angus. Calamari was okay.
I have to admit that it was a disappointment over all. To be fair, I wasn't very hungry so I ordered seafood gumbo and half salad with 1 glass if wine. Service was slow .....went most of the dinner with an empty glass of water. The gumbo was watered down. No roux in this...tasted like shrimp and sausage soup. I'd challenge anyone with my gumbo. This was not real gumbo at all. Toast was burnt. Salad was ok. I might give this place another shot and order off the entre menu, however at the price point they have I have very high expectations. The atmosphere was wonderful though.
We reserved a table and when we went to check in for the reservation we were told our table had been taken by a party that just walked in a sat down without asking. Not sure why they weren't asked to get up, but they offered us a free drink from the bar to wait for an open table. We were sat in the bar instead of the dining area which was very loud and we could not converse without yelling. The waiter took our order quickly only to come back 30 minutes early to say he forgot to put in our order and could not remember what we wanted. The food was cold when we finaly received it but still edible. We rarely saw the waiter after that and would only come to the table and refill one guests water and leave. I spoke with the manager about the service and she only attempted to make exuses that he was split from the bar to the dining area and was doing the best he could. We had to flag other servers down for water, drinks and deserts. This was a one and done for me on dinner. The price to service ratio is off. When I pay for the amount you charge, my expectations is to have an overall exceptional experience and not mediocre service and cold food.
I undertand with Valentines it will be busy but our experience was poor. It was crowded and extremely loud. Our food was cold.My rib eye was nothing but fat. The server was extremely rushed and barely came to our table. You pay 75 a steak you expect to have an experience with a tentative server and good food. We had neither. Definitely wont be going back.
Service varied between guests. There was a clear difference in how we were spoken to versus other guests. The food was ok. The mashed potatoes tasted like pepper was dumped in them. It was so much pepper that I could not finish them or even my food. The steak was slathered in pepper to the point that you lost the overall flavor of the food. The setting was beautiful. It's a shame that we did not get to enjoy it the way we had hoped.

Editing my review, we originally came here for our anniversary and it was fine. We came back for a birthday on 12/31/25, and spent about $400. When we present a coupon they had mailed(the only reason we even knew about this place) they told us they wouldn't except it due to a "special event" yet the expiration is stated for 12/31/25??? Not great marketing. Won't be making the drive back out.
Honestly, I was so excited to try this place after hearing many rave reviews. However, my husband, myself, and our friend ate there tonight and I could not have been more disappointed. All of our food was well under par. The service was awful. We spent a total of 2 hours for what should've been an hour at most ... ribeye- tough and no flavor ... scallops- blah ... sea bass- way over cooked and potatoes under cooked ... will not be back. In case you're wondering date and time - 2/7/26 - reservations at 1830 , we got there a little early and left around 2010 ... the super tall server didn't tell us any specials , and there was a distinct difference in the other server around us. The other servers food and drinks were coming out much quicker and he was much more attentive... he also explained the menu. For Glen Rose - I guess it's ok. To reply to your comment about the amount spent. - we had two appetizers , three cocktails, scallops and the sea bass. Our total was $178 for two people BEFORE TIP ... so you do the math! The google review asks "how much did you spend per person" not how much is each entree ... I'm not sure what your comment of none of your meals not being over $60 means. It still wasn't good. You have the ability to look up our tab based on name and time so go for it. Saying it was OK was being generous.
