Went to Jackman & Co. for an incredible Valentine’s Day dinner with my fiance! We were both extremely impressed by the ambiance and design of the restaurant, the attentiveness of the server, and the amazing food. We started with the Valentine’s Day special appetizer of burrata and apricot with sourdough bread - and I absolutely hope they make this a permanent appetizer because it was fantastic! I could have eaten the entire loaf of sourdough on my own. A perfect mix of sweet and savory. For entrees, I had the tandoori chicken skewers. I loved the roti bread! And truly the star of the show for us were the Brussels sprouts. These were the absolute best Brussels sprouts I have ever had from a restaurant, and would come back just for this dish! We finished with the warm apple crumble, I loved the addition of walnuts and high quality ice cream. Overall, I cannot wait to come back to Jackman & Co. definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Glenview! If you take away anything from this review - please order the Brussels sprouts!
Another hit by ballyhoo. The room is well-constructed and feels open but yet hums. Interactive service as we went through cocktails and wine recommendations. Beet salad, duck confit tacos, short rib and marrow pie were hits, along with date pudding and butterscotch pudding. We’ll be back.
Exceptional food, service, and atmosphere. Old school 60s vibe brought up to modern standards. A solid variety of flavors on the menu, nothing I tried was nothing short of great. While not exactly cheap, the service makes you feel like you're at a high end steakhouse. Their happy hour prices are extremely fair and let us get a bigger variety of apps. Special shout out to their milk bread croutons in the Little Gem Green Goddess salad, one of the best things I've ever tasted. Pictured: Lamb Shepherds Pie (special) Pecan-Crusted Hake.
This was our first time at Jackman, we sat outside on the patio on a perfect Autumn day. We ordered several small plate and two large plates. Everything we ordered was very good but the Brussels were fantastic. We definitely would recommend ordering them for the table or maybe ordering two for the table when you stop by.
Great addition to glenview, delicious food and wonderful service! Loved the flat iron steak, Brussels, chips and dip, burger, duck confit tacos and frozen mud pie! Will definitely be back to try other items!
Had dinner here last night. Since it’s a British-style spot, I wasn’t expecting too much at first, but I figured it might have an American twist—and it actually turned out really good. Most of the food was solid, and the fish and chips were the star. Honestly, it was even better than the Gordon Ramsay Fish & Chips I had in Vegas. If I could make one suggestion, I wish there were a few more dipping sauce options for the fish and chips. Other than that, everything was on point. The server was super friendly, the food came out fast, and the vibe was great. It was my first visit, but I’m already planning to come back and try more dishes. Really glad this place opened in Glenview. Yard House better watch out. 😄
Loved our dinner here. All of the staff was fantastic and we felt cared for but not bothered. The food was delicious (special callout to the short rib agnolotti). We got the cheddar puffs snack and the red currant jam did not disappoint. The duck confit tacos were super flavorful. The short rib agnolotti was perfection. Cherries Jubilee was well balanced and plenty of cherries. The sticky toffee pudding was on the authentic treacle-y side, not very sweet. (If I ordered it again I would ask for the vanilla ice cream instead of buttermilk to add a hint of sweetness). A lovely night out and can’t wait to go again!
Fantastic new restaurant in the heart of downtown Glenview. You can swing by for dinner or just stop in for drink. If you’re lucky, you can sit by the fireplace. 🔥
Very cozy place for a date night. It was very busy on a Friday afternoon. Went early to avoid the line since we didnt make a reservation. 5:34pm when we got there with a 45 mins wait time for outdoor seating but received a text at 5:58 pm that our seats were ready. There is a very nice bar to enjoy while waiting. Food is really good. Highly recommend the swedish meatballs with a nice crispy buttery bread. My husband had fish and chips, breading was not too thick and fries was crispy when served. Had the Red Curry Prawns (served 6 pcs of prawns) with jasmine rice with was tasty. Highly recommend the sticky toffee pudding. The pudding has a consistency of a cake (they said its the European pudding) with ice cream and toasted sesame seed caramelized wafer on top. Delicious!
Came in for Dad’s birthday (they greeted him by name with a happy birthday on the menus)….. Everything was delicious and everyone was lovely (we even got to watch the Bears game during the meal).... We’re hoping they have something for Thanksgiving.... 🙂
So glad to have Jackman & Co. in the area. What a breath of fresh air as far as dining options in Glenview! We had such a lovely meal and experience. Everything we tried was fantastic—the brussels sprouts, pigs in a blanket, short rib agnolotti, and roast beef sliders. Its hard to choose a favorite dish. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the vibe is inviting and cozy. Definitely a great date night spot but can also be a good option for a nicer family dinner. The bar is fantastic, and the drinks we ordered were delicious. Don't skip on dessert either because the frozen mud pie was so good. There are so many things we wanted to try but didn't have the chance to, so we'll definitely be back!
Today we ordered the Sunday Roast, which was delicious, being Welsh we miss the SR, the beef was melt in the mouth, the Yorkshire puddings yummy and the roast potatoes excellent,
Devils on Horseback which are sweet bacon wrapped dates stuffed with white cheddar. A small but incredible bite. Alongside those we tried the Housemade Crisps & Dip. These potato chips were durable and not crazy salty wich is nice because that didn’t take away from the dip. However, I did wish the dip had more onions to add more savoryness, it felt a little dill heavy. The Tomato & Leek Tart had a solid buttery ad flaky base with a hint of sourness from the goat cheese, I really liked this dish. As someone who is a huge fan of duck, I had to try their duck confit tacos. The duck texture was almost like a stew, and they use griddled roti to complete a soft and very flavorful bite. As a burger fanatic, I was told I needed to try this tavern burger. It features Iowa cheddar, their own take on a gentleman’s relish, vidalia onions all sandwiched by their own house made crumpets. The crumpet is soft, the beef is super juicy, and the relish had some unique funk to it from the anchovies. I definitely haven’t had a burger like this before. As for dessert, the sticky toffee pudding did not disappoint. Moist and sweet from the buttermilk ice cream, and a comforting dessert to wrap up the meal.
Everyone from the hostess, to the bartender to the busboy are outstanding. What a wonderful vibe!! Glenview is very lucky. Thank you!!
We rarely leave the city for dinner, but I am so glad we did. Absolutely stunning decor and incredible food. The service was impeccable and the staff went above and beyond. We will be coming back!
Food was delicious service was incredible 10/10 would easily recommend
Phenomenal experience. Highly recommend this place.
First time here, top notch British fair. Everything was delicious and the service was top notch!
My recent visit to Jackman & Co was truly memorable, thanks to the exceptional staff, inviting design, and outstanding food. My brother and I arrived to a packed house but luckily found two seats at the bar – the perfect spot for dinner. We were immediately welcomed by the beverage manager, a genuinely nice gentleman who ensured we felt right at home. I started with their happy hour Old Fashioned, which was excellently crafted. He then seamlessly transitioned us to our bartender, who continued to provide fantastic service. From the happy hour menu, we ordered the Swedish meatballs and fries. Both were not only an incredible deal but also absolutely delicious. For my main course, I couldn't resist the duck confit tacos, and they were fantastic – a truly unique and cool presentation that matched their incredible flavor. The entire staff exuded a happy, energetic vibe that was infectious. Combined with the unique and delicious food and the inviting atmosphere, Jackman & Co left me wanting to return again and again. A definite A+!
Food and service were wonderful! Nikko, Antonio and Matt took excellent care of us! Lobster risotto was fantastic. Will be back asap!
Very fun spot for dinner with friends and family! Highly recommend ordering everything for the table, the dishes are excellent for sharing and getting to try a bite of everything. The front of house staff was very friendly and accommodating for a last minute change in my reservation, which I am highly appreciative of. As for the food - highly recommend the Short Rib Agnolotti, the bacon wrapped dates, the summer corn/tomato salad, and the frozen mud pie for dessert. Great new addition to the area!
Great experience, great food and what a beautiful bar! Nico was very generous and helpful & helped make our first trip memorable. We will definitely be back!
Excellent food, staff and atmosphere! The menu offers a great variety for both adults and kids. Be sure to leave room for dessert!
Easy and delightful way to unwind with cocktail and dessert. Inviting atmosphere. Very good apple crumble.
I absolutely loved the entire expirence! This has become the best restaurant in Glenview. We walked in early and had a beautiful table along the river. Finally someone in Glenview took advantage of this beautiful feature of Glenview! The cheddar cheese puffs and bacon wrapped dates were to die for. The pecan crusted hake was cooked amazingly, over a green cabbage mixed with a super delicious sauce. I’m not usually a cabbage person and didn’t realize it had cabbage, but let me tell you it was the best I’ve ever had. I’m so happy I ordered it. We tried the short ribs and the schnitzel….both were absolutely amazing. And dessert…wow…the banana foster and the STICKY CARMEL PUDDING CAKE WAS INCREDIBLE. Our waiter Richard was awesome…we were his first table he served, what a gift! He did an incredible job and so did the man who was cleaning the tables, He got us things we needed right away like a straw and a clean fork. I hope he gets recognized too, i unfortunately forgot his name, we asked for it though! I cannot wait to go back! May more places in Glenview learn from them and may the village of Glenview be inspired too to keep taking advantage of the beautiful river line as well.
Had such a great experience at Jackman & Co today while celebrating a birthday! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the food was absolutely delicious. The cheddar puffs were super light and flavorful definitely a MUST TRY. The duck confit tacos were packed with flavor. Our server, Mariela, was so kind and attentive throughout the meal. She really made the celebration feel special. Great service and food!
My wife and I live across the street and have been waiting for this place to open. We’re so pumped about this place. They’ve done a really great job with the interior. Any small hiccups they own and address, but for a restaurant that’s been open for 7 days, there were minimal to non existent issues. Staff is great and happy hour will be a weekly stop for us. Definitely give this new neighborhood gem a stop!
I recently tried Jack & Co. in Glenview and it was a hit! The British-inspired menu and atmosphere were right up my alley. We stopped by for happy hour and were impressed by the drink selection and food options. Omar, our bartender, was top-notch - friendly, knowledgeable, and made some fantastic recommendations. Only one thing fell short, there are too many bar chairs and it’s very tight in the bar area. We'll definitely be back for dinner soon.
We went to celebrate my husband’s birthday on 1/3. The GM was amazing & has a great personality. Food and drinks are also great. My husband shared that the fish & chips were the best he’s had outside of the UK.
This place was awesome. We had a group of around 5 people, reservations are highly recommended. The food was excellent. Throughout the table we shared the cheese puffs, swedish meatballs, and pigs in a blanket. Our entrees were fantastic across the burger, fish/chips, and the beef wellington. I would highly recommend this place for a date night, dinner with friends of family dinners. The bar is awesome with great drinks and great atmosphere. I would definitely visit again.
The food and service was excellent! The Saturday night special of Beef Wellington was cooked perfectly. The chips with sturgeon caviar dip was a tasty starter. Great cocktails as well! Such a warm, festive atmosphere. The free valet parking was a nice touch.
Had 2 apps the caviar dip and bacon wraped dates, both outstanding. The apple salad was again outstanding as was the pork dinner. Dessert was good. Prices of food are fine. Alcohol prices and wine are a bit high. 19 bucks for a kettle vodka up ouch. Beer prices are fine. Service was outstanding. They do offer complimentary valet. On the menu it clearly states a 3% charge is added to the bill and will need removed if you ask.. 2nd time here, our server was Jarret he was awesome. The only problem was getting drinks too the table in a timely manner. It was obvious the bartenders were overwhelmed as I saw Jarret checking numerous times.
This is a new place and we were amazed that we were able to get a reservation on the day after Christmas. There isn't a parking lot, but there seems to be a lot of street parking around and I found a spot mere steps from the restaurant. The place has a old world charm with lots of dark wood and warm feelings. When you enter, there's a room to the left hosting a nice sized bar area which made me immediately think of the bar area from Cheers. The place was full and they seemed like regulars from the neighborhood. I saw someone come in and thought I heard the place yell out, "NORM!", but that was in my head but made me smile nonetheless. In front was a host stand and a welcoming host and hostess who both welcomed us to Jackman & Co and took our name for our reservation and then immediately walked us to our table. It was a booth and I was a bit worried as I am a bigger individual and find booths kind of cramped, but didn't feel this way here. They had ample space for someone of my girth. It's a nice place with a warmth in decor of dark wood and white tablecloths. We started with the Potato Chips and Dip. It sounds very informal, but the chips are housemade (kind of like the homemade chips from Claim Company) and a tasty dip with sturgeon caviar. That turned an eyebrow or two from us, but we ordered it anyway and it was very good. A nice way to start the meal. As I look at their current menu offerings, I'm bummed as the item I ordered, a short rib pot roast on noodles isn't listed, but I assure you, it was there and it was perhaps one of the best dishes I've had anywhere of late. It was so flavorful and filling. It was a nice update of a traditional pot roast dish and I wish they had it on the menu so you could go and order it as it was so delightful. They also had a special drink which is also not on the menu, but it was equally good. We will definitely return and check out their outdoor seating when it is warmer out. Such a great gem in the suburbs!
What a fabulous and welcomed addition to Glenview! My husband and I enjoyed a date night together at Jackman and Co. From the warm reception with the hostess to delightful dinner and service we enjoyed it all. My husband is a big bourbon guy, and enjoyed the old fashioned and the ability to have it made with his bourbon of choice. We shared the chopped salsa and pigs in a blanket as our appetizer, delicious! My husband had the Thursday night special of shepherds pie, it was so beautiful in presentation and taste too! I had the salmon, it was perfectly prepared! I love all the nods to London, including the Sunday Roast dinner special! We look forward to bringing family and friends in the future.
Great atmosphere. Crowded, but makes sense as it is new to the area. Food was amazing. Went for a birthday dinner and they were very accommodating with our group and even had "Happy Birthday, Kellye" on the top of all of our menus. Waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and made great suggestions. Cocktails were very good. Will definitely be coming back when we visit family close by.
Wonderful experience! The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Nico is an outstanding manager and was very accommodating and greeted us at our table. The ambiance is fun and lively on a Saturday night. Everything from the service, drinks, appetizers, entrees, dessert was exceptional.
Jackman & Co. Is by far one of the top restaurants in the North Shore! The entire experience from beginning to end was absolutely perfect. You'll really be missing out if you don't give them a try. Reservations are recommended.
Beautiful ambiance and satisfactory service Would like to come back and give other menus items a try. Most of the items we ordered was good, some was not good at all. Pros: burger, fish & chips, red curry prawns, brussel sprouts Cons: lobster risotto, Swedish meatballs and the most disappointing sticky toffee date cake ever.
Ordered the salmon dinner and a side of brussel sprouts and both were very good! You can order to-go and park in their valet lot to pickup with no charge.
Great atmosphere in this new downtown Glenview restaurant. We had the dates appetizer; a corn, feta, and tomato salad; and the shepherd pie special. Everything was delicious and easy to share. Our server was very friendly and helpful with menu selections as well. Only complaint is that they were a little slow to get our table ready. We had a reservation for 8:00 and didn’t sit down until about 8:15. It took another 5 to 10 minutes for the server to visit us.
Food and service were very good. The fish and chips, burgers and chicken pot pie were excellent.
NOISIEST place I’ve ever been to in my life. OH MY GOSH, I TOOK A FRIEND THERE BECAUSE WE WANTED TO DISCUSS A PROJECT WE’RE WORKING ON AND WE WERE SCREAMING AND YELL YELLING NEXT TO EACH OTHER AND STILL COULDN’T HEAR EACH OTHER. Hackney is a much better option. There’s two locations in Glenview. It’s divided up into a lot of different sections even with everyone talking the noise level is very pleasant. I was talking with a friend who’s in construction and he said builders people that build buildings can put in walls and ceilings that absorb sound but they’re about 50% more cost. The carpenter doesn’t make anything that’s just the cost of the material and apparently that was not done here. Also, we had the schnitzel and it’s not German schnitzel. This was British schnitzel and I’m dry disgusting thin, hard breading that they put the pasta on top of that then made it soggy absolutely un edible absolutely disgusting. I pointed it out to the waiter and he didn’t do anything nothing I wish I could give this place a -5 I’ve done about 200 reviews on Google I’ve done over 120 reviews in Glenview. Every single review is five star if I don’t think a place is five star I tend not to do a review because I want to support my town but this restaurant is just disgusting. the food is horrible. The noise level the people are rude. I’ve never seen a business. This bad in the North Shore do not go to this restaurant. You will be exceptionally disappointed.
It's just OK. The menu is limited as there are more appetizers and salads than entrees. It's a good place for sharing small dishes. The menu isn't varied enough for my tastes.
Went to this location because we live down the street and were awaiting its opening. They break their menu into 3 sections; small, medium or large. These indicate the size of the dish. Not knowing exactly how big the portions are, we each took a chance on our order. I ordered their Hake (white fish) plate. It was tasteless and the leeks were very mushy. I had to ask for lemons to help with the taste but it wasn’t enjoyable at all. My friend ordered a pasta dish and the portion was smaller than expected. I will go back and try something different but my first visit wasn’t great for the price(s) we paid.
We were so excited to check this spot out! Which may have added to the disappointment. Service was great, one small error (not firing a kids meal) didn’t really matter to me. But what did matter was the choices to the dishes. While my schnitzel was EXCELLENT, my wife’s short ribs fell short. The Beef was great, but the carrots were essentially raw, and the way the dish was plated, rendered everything cold within 5 minutes. When it came to the late kids meal - even though it was supposed to be fish sticks, it was more like a full fish and chips. If we would have known the dish wasn’t actually kid friendly, we would have chosen something else. - last item - we were blessed with a comped desert for a birthday, but the choice to do a buttermilk ice cream with the toffee pudding was the wrong direction. Horribly bitter ice cream that should be a vanilla. While we were disappointed from our experience, and decide to speak HERE vs say it to our waitress (fricken Midwest fear of confrontation), the service was great, the atmosphere is perfect, and the food was pretty close to worth it! I’d absolutely still go if you are thinking about it, it’s a great addition to the area, and we want it to succeed!
There is a lot of novelty which makes it tough to get a reservation. So when we finally got a resevation we were super excited. Free valet parking is awesome. The bar was great and I suggest just eating there if you can't get a reservation. Plenty of space and seats and no reservation required. Most Ballyhoo restaurants totally exceed expectations--Pomeroy for sure. Jackman didn't meet expectations. Not a big fan of a menu that has four different plate sizes. We had no idea what to order. A small and a large? Two mediums? My wife and I split a starter, a medium pasta and a large steak, plus dessert. The size of the dishes is a little underwhelming. The food tasted fine but wasn't particularly creative or memorable. The drink pours were average, or even a little light. Service was decent but could have been slightly better. And it's not inexpensive. I guess with all the anticipation I expected more. Valley Lodge has equivalent quality food, we often split and we STILL need a doggie bag. I will give Jackman another try, but smallish portions aren't a good value. The dining room is nice. That's a plus. It's early and maybe they will improve.
It's clear that Jackman and Co. is very popular amongst the locals, but I'm unsure if that praise is from those who are sober enough to recognize subpar service in a fine dining establishment. I want to caveat this review with the notion that I fully understand that we came on a Saturday night (a night when business is the norm) and we came during what we learned was a huge party that spanned multiple tables. That being said, it would behoove management to plan ahead and ensure that there is enough staff to accommodate a larger than normal demand. Let's get to it: Service was abysmal for a restaurant of this quality. After being seated (we had a reservation, by the way), it took 10 minutes for us to be recognized by the waitress despite other tables having the full and undivided attention of multiple wait staff. Once we ordered drinks and a starter, it took a whopping 40 minutes for the bacon wrapped dates to be brought to our table. The waitress (who was clearly overwhelmed by the demands of the other high-paying tables) was surprised that we hadn't been served our app yet; once she brought it out, we were immensely disappointed by it being lukewarm. The main courses were fantastic, though. Definitely worth the price tag. It was relieving to see that they were brought out within 20-30 minutes (on par for what we would expect). I want to give this place a chance, but I'm not confident that management has things under control and planned ahead to ensure that quality of service is on par with the establishment's price point. If you're wanting to go to a fine dining place such as this, consider Foxtail on the Lake or Wildfire. You'll get far better service.
Let me Start by sharing that we come from families of cooking aficionados who have always celebrated birthdays and holidays cooking family recipes and exploring new ones. Our heritage is Spanish, French and Lebanese, as you can see food is at the center of our culture. Yesterday was my wife’s birthday and we decided to support Jackson and Co “Gastropub” being a new restaurant in our neighborhood, not too many good restaurants in Glenview to be honest. Well, I must say that the place looks great and the servers and manager were very nice, however, the food is well below par for the price. Out of three dishes we could eat two of them and to send them back to the kitchen, the peacan-hake I ordered was over cooked and the seasoning overpowered by vinegar was possibly one of the worst I have ever had, the dish came with no garnish which for the price was a surprise. My daughter ordered the salmon, this was a stretch to start, since on paper even looked strange, cold water fish with middle eastern seasoning. Well, another disaster, fish overcooked, the tabbouleh had not resemblance of it’s origin and the tahini was made with something similar to cream, who adds cream to tahini?. The fish and chips were half way decent, but if a Pub owner can not prepare fish and chips the right way, well time to find another business. We will likely never go back and if someone in our neighborhood asks us about last night’s experience we will be brutally honest. Your village of Golf neighbor.
Great bar area and beer options. Cocktails and wines egregiously priced, as is the confused and confusing food menu. British pub fare ain’t it. I’m shocked to see all these 5-star reviews because not a single local in town has had anything positive to say outside of the atmosphere and location. I hope they switch up the menu and compete on price or this place is gone within a year.
We’ve been regulars at Jackman Co. since it opened a few months ago and have really enjoyed sitting at the bar for Happy Hour. Unfortunately, we’ve decided to stop going and return to The Yard House in The Glen. The reason is simple: the quality of the liquor has gone downhill. The bourbon being used now tastes cheap and gives me terrible headaches. Both my wife and I are very sensitive to low-quality alcohol, and after my last Old Fashioned, I ended up sick and reaching for Ibuprofen. It’s disappointing, because we really liked the atmosphere and the food, but we won’t be coming back unless the quality improves.
