Such a positive experience the moment we entered! the more than pleasant host Lucy welcomed us in and found us the perfect booth. Edward and I couldn’t get enough of Shawna. She not only had like the best suggestions for things on the menu, but made sure we felt taken care of! We also met Caroline. She was super nice! Will be back!
Minglewood is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Gloucester, with great staff, amazing food, and a unique atmosphere on the harbor. Their sushi is really good, and all the food is brought out super fast as well. My server Joe was incredible! I highly recommend Minglewood for a great harborside meal.
We were a party of four and had appetizers & a late lunch at 3:00 pm. The fried gluten free options are amazing! They have a dedicated gf fryer. The gf sweet potato fries and lightly crisped gf fried clams were delicious! Others non gf persons had lobster rolls, (good size for the price), and sushi. Apps were Peach Burrata with pistachios, fried buffalo cauliflower, and seaweed salad. They have an excellent selection of seafood, sushi & sandwiches & salads. They have an outside seating deck. We ate inside but still had a view.
Overall excellent experience all things considered. The appetizers were very good. Drinks were all well poured. Entrees were good with a few misses but nothing major. We happened to have some music as well which was nice. Our server was great.
Great views and food! The sushi was delicious! Had the tempura sushi and it was plentiful and fresh. The fish sandwiches were great too! Nice lunch spot!
My friends in W Gloucester took me this restaurant and I loved the food, bar setup and it was a perfect place for sports lovers as they had multiple TVs. My favourite was the seafood platter and it was so fresh and crunchy!! Most of the tables have a good view of the sea and they’ve patio during Summer.
A very nice place! The food was very delicious, the salad was very good and unusual. The only thing I didn’t like was the seasoning on the fries! The drinks were good. The service was very friendly and helpful.
We had an amazing experience at Minglewood Harborside on a Tuesday night of early November. We ordered lobster, haddock, corn, cesar salad and roasted sweet potato. The food was great and the service was perfect. The space is very big and they were having trivia night but there were not so many people.
Great Gluten-free options including fried calamari that my son devoured! Fun vibe and helpful service.
Service was exceptional, food was fresh and tasty, we were told the seafood is straight out of the ocean and locally purchased and I had no reason to think otherwise, we sat at the bar chatted with others and embraced the atomosphere. The sushi was a highlight
Great diverse menu options, something for everyone. Highly recommend parmesan fries were very good and Tuna King sushi roll was great also. Seasonal Drinks were fantastic!
found this place on the way home from NH, cutest place to grab lunch!! we sat outside right on the harbor, it was perfect! our waitress was so nice and on top of everything. the food was absolutely amazing. and those nachos were probably the best i’ve ever had. this place is about 3 hrs from where i live, but i would make the drive simply to go back for their nachos!!
Everything was great! It was pretty busy for a Sunday night, but the service was quick. The drinks were creative and strong, always a plus. The fried pickles were delicious! I had a Chinese Chicken Salad which was fresh and tasted great, the dressing was very good. I also had a sweet potato roll as well and was surprised by the quality of sushi at a non Asian restaurant! My partner had the lobster roll which he enjoyed and the price was about the same as anywhere else. Would definitely return next time we’re in the area.
Fresh sea food and a good size menu. Outside seating was nice. Wait staff was prompt and very courteous. Food came out quickly.
We came from NH to sail on the Thomas Lannon. We stopped in at the Minglewood Harborside as it was close and parking nearby was available. We were greeted warmly and escorted to a table on the deck. We ordered beers, all cold and tasty, and I delighted in the gorgeous Lietz riesling, ice cold and dry. A group of five, we ordered Fried clams, Mussels with wine and fennel, Fish taco, sushi and Pulled pork! As we waited a small while, we thoroughly enjoyed the balmy sea breezes and the fishing boats coming and going! When food arrived, every single item was fresh, expertly prepared and served in a short time frame. I honestly almost wanted to forgo our sail and stay longer! We will definitely return to this great spot on the Gloucester restaurant scene! Highly recommended!
Love Jeanie and the sushi here is great! Game day 1/2 price apps - can't beat the quality and price. Just adding photos from our amazing Valentine's Day dinner!
Good food with a view (if you are seated outside)
By far the best sword fish i have ever eaten...we went back 2 days in a row for the sword fish and fish tacos....the truffle fries amazing as well. They have trivia tuesday nights, open mike nights and a dj no matter what night you go there is something fun going on. Good beer selection and very attentive staff all the way around. Parking is a bit of an issue but you can park in the public lot 2 lots down.
The best food, great service & beautiful outdoor seating on the water (also nice indoor seating too)! The restaurant is really clean and they have social distance seating and many outside tables on their dock on the water. The food is some of the best we've eaten in the Gloucestor/ Rockport area, great homemade ranch dressing, my favorite cobb salad, and there is a kid's menu, and meals besides seafood. Full bar and good coffee too!
The other places we went to were mob scenes with huge noisy crowds of people. This place was quiet, calm, and really good. They also did social distancing well!
Her name is Shawna and she is an Absolute Angel !!! This woman took on a football team of vibrant energetic young men that just won a huge hit from an undefeated team today…. Pretty much by yourself!!!! Great job to her Great job to EVERYONE INVOLVED!! GO GLOUCESTER 🏈💗💪🏻🇺🇸
We used Minglewood’s side room for our wedding after-party, and it was perfect! Communication with Zach was great—he was super easy to work with, very chill, and made sure everything ran smoothly. The sliders and sweet potato fries were a huge hit, our guests loved them! They even provided boxes so we could take leftovers home, which was such a thoughtful great for the next day! We were able to hook up to the aux cord and play our own music, which made the night feel even more personal and fun. Everything was wonderful! Thank you so much, Zach and the Minglewood team!
We always love visiting Minglewood Harborside—whether we’re out with friends, family, or just the two of us, it’s consistent and we can count on a great experience! The restaurant has such a fun, welcoming vibe, and lately we’ve been enjoying sitting at the bar. The drinks are consistently great—creative, well-crafted, and the bartenders clearly take pride in their work. They’re always friendly and attentive, which makes the experience even better. The sushi is hands-down the best in town—we never visit without ordering at least one roll. For appetizers, we highly recommend the nachos, cauliflower, and mussels. When it comes to entrées, you can’t go wrong with the fish ’n chips, haddock, or salmon, and their burgers are truly some of the best around. Thanks to the whole team for always going above and beyond. We look forward to coming back again soon!
We have eaten here several times over the years when visiting Gloucester. The food is consistently great, the service prompt and friendly, and we love eating out on the deck.
Awesome local restaurant. Lots of familiar faces in terms of staff that really do a great job taking care of their restaurant and customers. A lot of our crew get lunches on the go here. We get served by Ryan most often at the bar and he is on point 100%. I've never had slow service at Minglewood. I like to order the same things and often stick to nachos, the steak bomb, and tuna king is my favorite sushi roll (always fresh). The cobb salad with chicken is an awesome to go order.
Went here on Saturday for lunch. Enjoyed a beautiful coastal day and then were served by the wonderful Meghan!!! She was so accommodating and FUNNY
We hosted our wedding welcome party at The Minglewood and couldn’t have been happier with the experience. Zach, the manager, was an absolute pleasure to work with—responsive, flexible, and incredibly accommodating. He generously gave us extra time to decorate and made sure we could adjust food quantities as the night went on. The food was absolutely delicious and a huge hit with our guests. They definitely ate more than we expected, and Zach handled it seamlessly—getting additional food out quickly so everything continued to run smoothly. The bartenders were phenomenal: fast with drinks, attentive about clearing plates, and thoughtful about checking in with me on food levels throughout the evening. We had about 85 guests, and while it felt a little cozy when everyone was standing and mingling, once people sat to eat the space felt comfortable and not crowded at all. Overall, The Minglewood was a fantastic welcome-party venue, and we would absolutely recommend it to anyone planning a rehearsal dinner or wedding welcome event.
We held our Wedding Afterparty in the Captains Room last Saturday 10/25 from 10:30 pm -12:30pm . They let us stay until about 1pm. Zach the GM helped us set up the event almost a year and a half in advance . Everything went great. The food was out when everyone arrived , multiple people complimented the food . Bartenders were super friendly and accommodating, they let my wife hook up her iPhone to the speakers so she could play her own music . Which was awesome . We had a little over 100 people at the event , there was plenty of tables and chairs , and still a ton of room for people to talk and dance near the bar . Will 100% host another event here .
8/16/25 Hands down best burgers in town! Could possibly be the best burger I've ever had. We had a Minglewood & smash burger which were absolutely phenomenal. Menu has tons of options & we can't wait to try more! Service is excellent. Sushi rolls were top grade We will definitely be back very soon. Fortunate to live so close to a top tier restaurant. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Loved our dinner here! Got the halibut dinner which was fantastic. Very busy restaurant but our server was great despite the crowd. Really enjoyed the live music, very fun evening!
Love this place! The service is always good, the food and drink are generally great (though they lost a star for the quality of a couple of take out meals which were below par - eating in has not failed us however), the location is terrific, and free live music os ALWAYS good!
We had a great friendly server and great outside seats. The fried scallops were amazing as was the tartar sauce. French fries cooked perfectly. The calamari was cooked perfectly ant the “dipping sauce “ was awesome. I prefer Mexican corn off the cob but this tasted good. This place is very reasonable.
Loved this place and the ambience. The server was very considerate and did a great job by serving extra quick. I have 2 suggestions though: the lobster roll was too small for a $40 tag. Secondly, the entrance of the resturant could be made a little more fancy to make it look upscale. Other than that, I truly recommend this place for folks looking to have a meal in Gloucester.
We came here after an amazing time at their sister restaurant Maggie’s Farm. This must be the baby sister to Maggie because she didn’t hit it on all cylinders. It might have been because they were so slow that day. I don’t know. The fried food was a little under done and we ran out of tea twice. The server was nice just not attentive. We would be willing to try again, maybe in the evening when it’s more busy.
Nice placing along the commercial fishing piers in Gloucester. You get a good vibe as soon as you walk in with a nice bar and ambiance. Good selection of tap beer and cocktails. The patio has a great view of the boats. We had calamari, Lomein with Pork, and Rootbeer BBQ Tips. Calamari and Tips were quite good. The lomein was excellent, but the pork a bit underseasoned & bland. Overall, a nice place to go. Pricing was fair. We'll go again!
Service was really good. Scenery was fantastic. Clam chowder was good. I prefer a hot lobster roll, but theirs was cold, but was really good. Lots of lobster claw meat. Bun was perfectly cooked. Great selection of local beers.
Very very nice staff. The picture is of the fish burrito which was pretty good.
This was our first time to minglewood. We sat outside on the deck. I was immediately taken by how busy the restaurant was and how many tables were inside. It's a large, casual, fast paced, and a bit of a loud environment. Clearly a well oiled machine. Our server was friendly and quick but kinda missed the mark by just asking "everything good here?" instead of "would you like another cocktail" etc. I'm not as particular as this review seems. Anyways got the calamari app, tuna tartare app and a bit of sushi. The apps were mid. Tuna tartare came with slightly stale chips but the sushi was actually exceptional, better than most Japanese places in the area. The salmon mango role was my fav. Almost every roll was either tuna (yea I get it...) Or shrimp tempura based so ideally they could have some more selection. It was a very nice meal overall and we would recommend and will return!
Nice location on the harbor, large covered deck - and no issues with seagulls! Food was very good, arrived quickly, and was exactly as described. Accommodations for allergies were made although not marked in any way nor delivered by management which made us doubt the accuracy of allergen awareness but the dish was actually safe. Would definitely go back.
Ordered a burger rare and a Cobb salad for delivery. Salad was exceptionally fresh, even though I had part of it the next day. Burger was rare which is hard to get on takeout.
We have always liked the place. I personally find the atmosphere a little cold since the remodel. But the food and service have never disappointed. In the summer, the patio is great.
We came at a relatively busy time, but only about half the tables were full. We were told 15 minute wait, but ended up waiting well over 45. Service was extremely slow and food was mediocre, but atmosphere was nice. You couldn’t actually access the dock from the restaurant to look at the water, which was disappointing. Food was also pretty expensive and they even took forever to bring the check.
Average food fares. Staff were super nice. Beware of the gulls if you decided to sit outdoors.
Well I’m no dead head but the food was mediocre .. not bad but pricey for the taste! And don’t even get me started on the amount of sour cream that was generously dolloped directly on top of our nachos. It was a bit of a wait for food but I’m just glad we finished up before the jam band started. I would go back if I was craving airport food
Minglewood has a fantastic atmosphere that made for a great night out. The space is lively and inviting, though the pub tables felt a bit cramped for a party of four. Our server, Heather, was wonderful—friendly, attentive, and quick to make sure we had everything we needed. The food was definitely the highlight. The baked haddock was full of flavor and perfectly cooked, and everything we tried tasted fresh and well-prepared. The only downside was that the sides came out cold, but it didn’t take away from the overall meal too much. The sushi menu looks like a great deal, and I’ll definitely be back to try that next time. While the drinks didn’t stand out as much as the food, the overall experience was enjoyable, and I’d still recommend Minglewood for its food, service, and atmosphere!
Atmosphere is great, but I’ve given this place a few chances this year to see if they were having off times. Nope it’s just off in general. I got the orange chicken yesterday didn’t really eat it and now I don’t think the chicken was fully cooked, I’ve been extremely sick. The dish was soaked in liquid and just not good, flies kept flying in my food as well. Food was 0/10.
It was a chilly spring day and after a walk in stage fort we hoped to sit by the fire place at minglewood and have some food & drinks. The fireplace was not lit but Zach the manager said he would light it for us if we wanted to order. The place was mostly empty so not very busy. We ordered a bunch of food and drinks. and he never did light the fireplace. Our server was fantastic. The food was so so. A poke bowl should not just be sugar and abd salt flavored. I was so thirsty when I got home. There are many choices for places to go; d we choose your place and because you say we can sit by the fire, spend a bunch of money on mediocre food and you never come out to light the fire sad to say this doesn’t seem very good
I ordered (PORK BELLY TACOS korean BBQ sauce, sticky rice, pickled cabbage, cilantro 18 LO MEIN NOODLES roasted pork belly, shrimp, vegetables, scallion soy sauce 23) Those were really bad. There's two tacos. I couldn't finish eating even though I was hungry. Same thing, lo mein noodles didn't finish. It was such a waste of money. The taco was too dry and the pork belly in lo mein had too much fat. What sauce is in both foods? It doesn't taste good anyway.
I cannot get over the order of calamari received. Part of me still thinks it’s a joke. While I understand I should have spoken up, this dish spoke for itself. The server who brought this out should have realized this was not right to serve guests. It looks like they gave us someone else’s leftover calamari. What a waste of money. I do not recommend this place whatsoever.
Muscles were disgusting, calamari was cold and disgusting, bang bang shrimp were huge and luke-warm, tuna poke was okay but just a bad tuna poke dish. This was our 3rd time there, I really don't write negative reviews easily. Huge wait for food and drinks every time we've been there. I cannot comprehend how this place gets the reviews it does, you don't get served drinks fast enough to get drunk enough to eat this dogfood. Such cool real estate in Gloucester and so much potential it's honestly just depressing how bad this kitchen is.
