My first time here and it was delicious. I had the chicken fajitas with shrimp. I'm coming back next time I'm in town.
Great food and service. Alisha did a great job taking care of us! We will definitely be back!
We the members of Walton Memorial Church will always support this remarkable place of business. They believe in supporting the community and helping out any way they can. We appreciate everything that they have done for us and the people that may come after us. Thank you for being great. Awesome management.
Friendly staff. Waitress was attentive and on the ball. Food was delicious, served quickly and a good value.
Tias is a great place for everybody to come to even the little one. The service is great, the food is always good. The staff is always ready to serve the guest. Keep up the good work
We got beef and chicken fajitas for our Randall Dodge Thanksgiving lunch. The Tia's team was phenomenal!! They went above and beyond to make our lunch a delicious success!!!
I don't know if this is for the one in Lufkin or Henderson. I was at the one in Lufkin Wednesday night and Henderson for lunch Friday with my daughter who will be a TEXAS GAME WARDEN IN May 2024! The pictures shown are from Henderson I had the Ultimate Nachos and my daughter fish po-boy. My nachos were GREAT
The Absolute Best Place In Henderson Texas Hands Down!!!! Great Managers, Service, And Food!
Shay was amazing, We really enjoyed our meals. There was 19 of us and she did awesome.
Because of the bad weather, they were short staffed but you wouldn't know it. They did a great job! Wonderful and friendly service.
We love Tia’s. This time our hushpuppies were burned but everything else was wonderful! Including the service!
We had a great waitress name Shay. She took care of us promptly with a party of 19.
The bar staff is great here as our most of the people that work there! I'm glad I'll be going back here frequently to see patients in the area and I will be stopping there for lunch for sure! Still haven't tried the chicken enchiladas but the fish with vegetables plate is very very good. Maybe next time I can have a beer. If I'm done with work. Tell Amanda I said hi at the bar!
Wow! The best food and service. Accommodated our huge group of 40+ from St. Frederick (Monroe, LA). We will be back next time we are in this area for sure.
Really nice place. I go for oysters on the half shell and all but this time they have been great. This time took 3 to fill a cracker.
This place is a local legend. Large variety of quality oysters, raw and cooked. If you are an oysters person, you will enjoy Tia Juanita‘s. Sitting in the bar watching the guys grill the oysters is a treat. Parking is plentiful. Get there early. Remember this place is a local legend and it fills up quickly. Bon appétit.
Salsa and chips were delicious, my waitress Jennifer even let us try some new spicy ranch dip that was amazing! I had the. Crispy taco plate, tacos were good and crispy and the roasted jalapeño was fire!!!
Waiter was pleasant, atmosphere was nice, Food was yummy! I had the seafood enchilada meal. It came with a fresh Garden salad, beans, rice Pico, and a jalapeño pepper. The beans were average, but the rice and the creamy, seafood enchiladas were excellent! I will certainly be back!
We travel multiple times a month from Marshall just to eat at Tia Juanita’s in Henderson. Our favorite server is Alex! We personally request him when we come. The food is always delicious and service it top notch!
Stopped because, why not, if for the name itself! Was a fantastic decision, mostly. Food was fantastic, we loved our dishes, appetizers were on point as well! We tried a flight of frozen drinks and a bomb pop, awesome! I absolutely ate way more than needed for still having several hours to drive, and I'd do it again!
Food was great and service was even better. Alex our waiter was very tentative and took great care of us. Definitely going back soon and will request him every time!
First and foremost, I can’t remember her name a combination of Myra and Royce …I know not a lot to go on, she did tell me to refer to her as “the shortest waitress” 😅 Anyways she was amazing great service super knowledgeable, she picked everything I ate, and nothing disappointed, over all great price food and 100% plan on going back.
Great food, great atmosphere and the best overall service. Young man named Alex was our server. So polite and we never had to ask for anything. He is the best
As someone new to town, finding this place was a pleasant surprise. Amazing food, great drinks, and outstanding service from Alex. I’ll absolutely be back!
We had the seafood platter and the blackened seafood nachos and both were perfect! Our server was extremely attentive and the experience was wonderful as usual.
It was our first time. I had the fish tacos and they were great 😋. My daughter had the kids Nacho fries, she liked them and my partner had the steak nachos, he also liked them. Our waitress was amazing!! The atmosphere on a Sunday was perfect. Definitely recommend and definitely will be back!
WOW! Amazing food, great service in a fun environment. There were a lot of people waiting when we arrived, but we did not wait more than 15 minutes before being seated. Ordered the Blackened Shrimp and Crab Breadbowl appetizer which might have been the best part of the meal. Soooooo good! :) Will be going back for this dish again!!! We also had the Blackened Ahi and Cajun Barbeque Shrimp which was also exceptional. Found our new date night spot! Highly recommended!
The food was excellent! I got the Po' boy Combo of a Roast Beef Po' Boy, Seafood Gumbo, and Seasoned Fries. Went with a large group, so it took almost an hour to get a table on a Saturday evening. Ordered at about 5, and got the food close to 6. Very loud with music and lots of people, but the server was attentive and did a great job. It's definitely pricey, but it's totally worth it!
Good food. Hostess Maxine is wonderful. She calls you sweetie and baby showing the hospitality of a kind southern woman.
We had never eaten at the Henderson location, just the Athens one. The food was fantastic and our server was phenomenal!! We had a large party and were quickly accommodated when we walked in. We had a great time, ate good food and visited.
Had seafood enchiladas they were very good, wife had taco salad. Plenty food on plate very hot when served. Good service
Ahh. I’m hurting in a good way. I’m stuffed. I chowed down on two delicious crab cakes, with a wonderful side sauce. Superb. Ahh twelve big golden fried 🍤 shrimps ,old fashioned potato salad , fries and two hush puppies. Wow. And a wonderful waitress. Makes this a must visit.🍺🇨🇱🦐🦀 Now you know why I’m hurting good🍺🇨🇱
So yummy! Our second time to go, and loved it both times. Their salsa is so good and fresh tasting! We've had their shrimp brochette, which is supposed to be really popular. It was very good! Steak fajitas and steak quesadillas were so flavorful and tender. Shrimp tacos are so yummy, and so plentiful! Everything here is big portions!
The food is great. It can be a little loud depending on where you sit. In my experience the service is amazing.
Wow! What a fantastic experience!! The food was delicious, service was great, and the atmosphere was fun and welcoming. We all got mixed drinks that were so good. Its a bit on the pricey side but I'm happy to spend a little more to receive such great quality food. Never would have expected such good seafood in Henderson, TX. We are a little picky when it comes to restaurants and this place surpassed our expectations. Give them a try! We are already looking forward to going back!
I hate giving bad reviews to a place I liked. When you spend $60 per person they should at least be good. The Good: the food is well prepared and the vibe is great. The Bad: Multiple mistakes on our food orders, empty drink glasses, menu sat on the table the entire meal. One person sat without their order while everyone else almost completely finished eating. This could all be one bad waiter, but I never saw any management walking the floor. So I would say both failed. A positive. The management followed up after this review which I think shows a commitment to quality. I will certainly try them again.
If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would. The food was amazing. The atmosphere was fun and comfortable. Now Justin our waiter was super awesome, so much enthusiasm and personality while running around trying to get food to 25 tables at once. He made time to stop by our table every time he passed and cut up with the whole table. 2nd time we've been there and will definitely go back. The seafood enchiladas are well worth the price.
Wow, this was a cool place. We started with chips and salsa, which was better than average. Then we had 12 oysters on the half shell. Good but a couple were small. They should have thrown in one more for free. Then we had blackened shrimp and crab nachos. These were very unique and very favorable. The atmosphere was also very unique. All in all quite impressive.
First time trying it and if you don’t know what to order…I recommend the “shrimp and grits” They have a wide variety to choose from as well. My daughter loves the veggies she was able to pick from our plates haha. The service was amazing and FAST!! Wait time is long but the wait is totally worth it!! For everything we got we thought the prices were fair! Definitely the spot in town!
The food was excellent! The best was ‘Preston’s Shrimp and Grits’.. also great was Shrimp brochette, shrimp quesadillas and Seafood enchiladas!!!! We’ll be back!
It's a little busy but it's understandable since it's one of the very few good restaurants in Henderson, Texas. It's also fairly new, but definitely a great addition to Henderson. The cheesecake is a must try! Holy moly, I was not expecting it to be that delicious. Will definitely be back for more.
This place is hoppin'! Everything on the menu looks fantastic and they've got a really great bar. Everyone is super friendly and efficient, even on a crowded night! They've got live music on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, but the place is large enough you can sit on the other side of you want a quieter evening for conversation. Beware of the portions here, because they are GENEROUS.
I am always very skeptical about seafood places not near a Coast. But this place really surprised me. Oysters were amazing. Salmon was amazing..sopapilla cheesecake, Gator bites, steak nachos, all amazing. The food was hot. They let us take drinks to go. The drinks were not watered down. The service was really good.. We will definitely be going back.
Here for work, and just had the greatest time at this place! The food was amazing - you gotta have the grits the way Preston likes them. The whole staff took such good care of us - can't wait to go back.
We let our attentive and awesome server, Cassidy, know that it was our first time to visit Tia Juanita's. We're assuming Cassidy let the gm know because shortly, the gm, Preston, stopped by to welcome us and suggest the most AMAZING meal we've ever eaten! Given that we ordered the Shrimp & Grits and the Grilled Salmon, Preston suggested having the salmon over grits topped with Shrimp Sauce and Bacon Bits. OH MY GOODNESS, THE.BEST.EVER!!! Seriously, WOW oh WOW... Preston's brilliant idea for the grilled salmon was above and beyond and spot on PERFECTION!!! Dear Sinclair Lampe, President of Tia Juanita's, PLEASE put Preston's "take" on the grilled salmon on the menu!!! Many thanks to Preston for his genuineness and true commitment to customer satisfaction, and to Cassidy for taking care of us! VERY highly recommend the Henderson, Tx Tia Juanita's Fish Camp and Preston's grilled salmon over grits and topped with shrimp sauce and bacon bits! We will be back soon!
This place came recommended by several locals! Had the best experience here. The food was phenomenal, pictures do no justice. The service was spectacular from the minute I walked in. My bartender was Sam an she was on point, my beer never got half full before she brought me another one. I highly recommend this establishment! I will be revisiting when I’m in town again! 10 thumbs up
We were seated on the quiet side of the restaurant immediately, no wait line. We were served by our waitress Cassidy, who brought amazing service. While waiting for our food, the general manager came to our table to apologize for the wait, which really wasn’t a problem at all. While waiting, he gave us a sample of what he calls “Preston Grits,” bacon bits on grits. I have never tried grits before and after trying it for the first time, this set my expectations high. The food soon came out and it was the best meal for our first time here. The live music in the background was excellent and not that loud from where we were sitting in table 3. We were able to hold a conversation while listening to the music. We will definitely come back again!
We love some Tia Juanita’s food! The grilled fish and veggies never disappoints! Neither does the crawfish! The mango pineapple salsa is so good I always order extra to take home!
My wife and I had a funeral to make that started at 2:00. We told them as soon as we walked through the door, and manager personally got us a quick table and got our order in. The margaritas were great. We were in and out in 20 minutes. Great place!
The oysters Juanita were especially good tonight. Then we had the shrimp brochette - always delicious. Our waitress Piper was so personable- a real cutie and very attentive. Probably the best experience we’ve had here.
It was my first time there, food was absolutely amazing. I ordered for an appetizer the grilled oysters with garlic parmesan butter. I rate them an absolute 20 out of 10. I have never had something so delicious and heavenly. For my main meal I ordered the seafood stuffed enchiladas. They were stuffed with amazing crab covered in a pepper jack sauce with the most fabulous scallops that were grilled on top. The scallops were buttery and grilled to perfection. I'm only in town for 1 week and I will be eating dinner there every single night. Our waiter was absolutely amazing I didn't get his name but I will tomorrow. I absolutely recommend this place.
Spent 3 nights in Henderson, TX. Tia Juanita was recommended to us for dinner and they certainly were right. This place is amazing. We ate there all 3 nights. From the hostesses, to the waitresses, to the food servers, all were friendly, very polite and attentive. Never asked for a refill! The manager, Preston, was so courteous and made the rounds to every table to make sure everyone was satisfied. Made us feel like family. The food was absolutely delicious and plenty of it. The Boudin balls were the best we've ever had. I opted for fish all three nights! All wonderful but the Blackened Redfish Pontchartrain was unbelievable. Never had that before. Can't wait to go back and get it again. Needless to say, we love Tia Juanita and highly recommend it!
We recently used Tia Jaunita's for catering, and they went absolutely above and beyond for us! From start to finish, the communication was smooth, professional, and thoughtful. They made sure every detail was covered and worked with us to create a menu that fit perfectly for our event. The food itself was nothing short of amazing—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Every single guest raved about the meal, and it couldn’t have turned out more perfect. The presentation was just as impressive as the taste, and you could tell how much care and pride they put into their work. It’s rare to find a restaurant that not only delivers excellent food but also such genuine customer service. We couldn’t be happier and will continue to recommend Tia Jaunita's to anyone looking for catering or a memorable dining experience. Second catering experience - Preston & his team went above and beyond, once again. Consistency is key and watching his team work together as smoothly as they did makes ordering from Tia Jaunita's in Henderson worth the 2hour drive.
Absolutely phenomenal experience at Tia Juanita’s Fish Camp! I came with family and friends, and from start to finish, everything was top-tier. I ordered the fajita plate and it was absolutely extraordinary—bursting with flavor, perfectly cooked, and generously portioned. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, and the staff made us feel right at home. A special shout-out to Piper, our server, who went above and beyond with exceptional service—attentive, friendly, and full of positive energy. She truly made our visit memorable. Highly recommend this spot if you're in Henderson and craving great food with even better hospitality. If we are ever passing through Henderson again, we’ll definitely be back!
So good we went two days in a row! 🙌 Day one: I had the boudin quesadillas (absolutely amazing) and my husband devoured the nachos. Day two: I switched it up with fried oysters and shrimp — perfection — while hubby went all in on the seafood enchiladas. Every single dish was packed with flavor and perfectly cooked. Both our waiter and waitress were fantastic on each visit — friendly, fast, and helpful with recommendations. Oh, and do NOT skip the Gator Bite drink… sweet, tangy, and dangerously good. 🐊🍹 Already planning our next trip back — this spot is officially a favorite!
Road Trip!!! Me and @dedeinthemorning (Instagram) love a roadtrip. We were leaving Tyler heading to Teague, TX. We saw that the parking lot was full. If the parking lot is full, the food must be good. AND THE FOOD IS GOOD AND THE DRINKS ARE BETTER. We had daiquiris, open flamed oysters with jalapeño, nachos, chicken wings, alligator, and fried ribs. Yeah the food was that good.
David was Amazing! My 18 month old granddaughter cried for the hour trip and nothing we did could calm her down. Our Wonderful server David walked up and started talking to her and made her day. She was so happy from then on. Service was Excellent and the food was yummy. I definitely recommend this place.
Great place! The food was AMAZING! I was Honestly impressed with the food and the service any questions I had were answered I sat at the bar and was served pretty fast and the drink are really good the bartender Kate was helpful in picking some drinks I had not seen before. In all it’s great place im definitely coming back
Hands down the best restaurant that I've been to in the last 6 months. Extremely clean, great atmosphere, wonderful wait staff, wheelchair accessible, and I can't say enough about the food. Taste and portions are superb, as is the presentation. I ordered a salad and asked what it came in, a bowl or taco shell bowl. Our waitress said, "It comes in a big bowl." She was serious! It was the biggest salad I've ever had at a restaurant. The bowl was bigger than a mixing bowl (see picture/video). Also, Tia has live music during certain days of the week (I've forgotten the specific days), and there is a large bar (for those who drink) and big TVs everywhere. Very intriguing decor. The restaurant was very clean. Overall it's a very fun place, we'll be back. Something that made all of us feel very important was the General Manager, Mr. Preston took the time to stop by our table and asked if everything came out good and if we were full. He held a nice conversation with us. He was a wonderful gentleman who sincerely cares about every customer who walks in. You must drop by and get your fill on some of the best food in East Texas.
Amazing spot! Every time we drove by to see family, we wouldn’t stop due to tiring drive, going back home or rushed to get to the family but after 3 years WE FINALLY STOPPED BY and so glad we did! People are great! Service was 100% And food was PERFECT!! We ordered so much food of excitement and we don’t regret it or the tab! To our surprise, we had ordered the Oysters Royale and bit right into a pearl, couldn’t believe it since we were just talking about “what if” Overall AMAZING PLACE! I see know why it stays busy from its great atmosphere! Definitely coming again and make more time to spend it here before or after going back home to Dallas.
My husband and I have eaten here twice in the last couple of weeks, and this review is an average rating of the first visit (5) and today’s visit (3). The first time was excellent (seafood enchiladas and blackened snapper), but this time was good but not exceptional. My Cajun Girl po’boy was delicious, but not really a po’boy - the sauce over the shrimp and bread made it necessary to eat with a knife and fork, and the bread was a soggy mess by the time I finished the half I ordered. The seasoned fries were cooked well, but obviously frozen, and the seafood gumbo was okay but nothing special. The same can be said for my husband’s blackened chicken and grilled veggies. Tasty, but nothing special. We will return, though, because the first time was so good!
It was ok. Maybe an off day for them so I didn't want to give a bad rating. The other Tia Juanita's I've eaten at have been great. That's why I think today was just an off day.
Our first time here as we had to make a trip from Tyler to Henderson. The place was very busy for a Thursday afternoon. We decided to have the shrimp and crab bread bowl appetizer and to split the oyster, shrimp and fish combo. Our server was very good, and although I can't blame her, our meal arrived before our appetizer. We ordered the appetizer first, and waited a short time before ordering our meal. The main meal was very good and fresh tasting but the appetizer could have had a bit more flavor. Wife said it needed garlic. I would defineitly eat here again.
I usually order takeout so I don't go in hence the 3 stars for Atmosphere. I have been eating at this place for the past 4 years and I think I am going to stop going. The Restaurant scene was already suffering from the 2020 crisis, but everything is just worse now. Worse service, worse tasting food, everything more expensive, and orders never completed correctly. I am not joking about "never". I can't remember the last time my order was done correctly, there is always something missing or wrong no matter what. The person I had picking up my order even left the restaurant without paying, so I had them turn around to pay especially since it was over $100. But I asked for extra garlic butter... simple request and what should be very inexpensive to get right. I got a $33 dish and just 1 of their little condiment containers filled with 1/4 full with the garlic butter, like it was meant to be an insult. It looked like a 4 oz container, but I only got 1oz of garlic butter. We ordered extra for all of our dishes too... none of them received extra. Wife had to go and make some homemade garlic butter to use on our dishes. Maybe I should have ordered Taco Bell, at least the errors burn less and don't cost $33 for a single dish.
This place is always packed on a weekend and I have wanted to try it out for several months. While I am glad we tried it, we will not be back as there are better food selections in the town for Mexican and fish. We went at lunchtime on a Wednesday when it was not so busy. This is a restaurant that can not figure out what it wants to be. It has an interesting venue- fish, mexican, and even possibly smoked cajun. Our order was beef fajitas. If you come here, expect to pay for your chips and salsa as an appetizer, where if you went to a true mexican restaurant you would have received it complimentary. The meat tasted like it had been smoked prior to being grilled. If you like to ‘socialize and party’ this may be the place for you. It has 11 frozen margarita machines with a well stocked bar. Tv has sports playing next to the bar. As a foodie, just not our kindof place.
Brought my mom since she had never been. I went during the week it opened and it was great. Things have changed obviously. Service was good. Food was not. Me and my mom are both sick from the oysters. They were obviously frozen and thawed. Food lacked flavor and my shrimp was way overcooked to the point the bacon on it was burnt to a crisp. Not worth the almost $100 spent.
My food was cooked perfectly. I had soft fried oysters. But it was sooo cold in there that my food was cold before I had eaten 3 of my oysters. I do not enjoy cold oysters. I am hot natured and had on a light jacket but I was shivering by time I left there. It was in the 40’s outside and it actually felt good. This is not the first time I have experienced this. As good as the food is I will not be back.
If you’re craving a margarita that tastes like someone whispered “tequila” over a glass of Kool-Aid, congratulations, this place has mastered that art. I ordered a proper drink and got a childhood flashback instead. As for the grilled fish and shrimp… look, I’m all for seasoning, but this plate came out swinging like it had something to prove. It was so spicy I had to question my life choices halfway through. I shouldn’t need a fire extinguisher to enjoy seafood. Service was fine, atmosphere was fine, but I’m not risking tastebuds and dignity again. Hard pass.
Third times the charm and we won’t be back. Our first visit about a month ago wasn’t too terrible. The restaurant was pretty empty and it took 35 minutes to get our food. Second visit wasn’t great. The queso had turned sour and again the food took 30+ minutes to arrive to our table. Our third visit today will more than likely be our last. It took us 48 minutes to get food for just the 3 of us at the table. It tastes good but the service just takes forever.
We literally came in, maybe had 12-14 people. Took HOURSSS to get our food, they constantly messed up the orders, and then, they missed an order and blamed it on us. Ridiculous. All the other times ive came havent been the greatest either. Definitely room for improvement. Not to mention other tables got their food wayyyy before us.
Menus were very dirty, bar was a mess. Gumbo was burnt, we know the difference between dark and burnt. Fish and Fries had zero flavor, very overpriced. Will not be back.
The 1 star is for the manager, not the food. Food is delicious and servers are great… but we found a bread twist tie in our taco & the manager couldn’t have cared any less. He gave a lousy “sorry” and walked away.. didn’t even offer to replace our taco.. thankfully I noticed the twist tie when I took a bite and didn’t eat it whole. So warning for those ordering tacos.. apparently they come with twist ties. The servers showed way more concern than the manager.
Tonight, 3/4/25, we went to Tia Juanita’s in Henderson, Tx. Servers put these plates on my table. We ordered an appetizer, and I was about to put it on one of these plates and noticed each one was dirty. Then, I looked under the plate, and saw this. Absolutely disgusting and I pray I don’t get sick!!!
