Just ate here for the first time alongside my brother and father. The servers were real nice, the crawfish was the best I’ve had in a long time, and the managers “Jose and Jorge” were really kind , positive, and a joy to talk with. I highly recommend the Oyster Nachos, Really Really Great 👍.

Food was so worth the price especially with the large portions. My friend informed them that it was his first time and they gave him grilled oyster nachos. It came with a sample of all of the soups. Management and staff were super friendly. The Gumbo is really worth the hype.

Really nice and simple place

for the past 5 years I've lived in this area, I can truly say since Parker joined the team, he has been EXCEPTIONAL. Today was the cherry that topped the cake. When I walked in, he was welcoming, as a host. Unfortunately the mashed potatoes weren't hitting and he took his time to doctor then up, showing his creativity...I think he's a potato'Ologist cause they were SO good and before I left all I needed was some ice to go... The bartender was in the middle of a conversation and Mr. Parker just stepped right in and assisted. To the general manager/district manager I just need y'all to know, if nobody else has said it...I'm saying, Parker is just a awesome person, and I speak for the whole city of Houston AND Katy...he is appreciated for everything that he do! He's more than just a great mana don't just come to work; he operates in his purpose. Thank you Parker, continue to be great!

I don’t know where to start…The staff, the food, the vibe?! Out of this world!! My family and I come every month once a month if not twice! We have built such a great relationship with almost all of the staff here. Everyone is friendly and sooo attentive! I highly recommend the fish tacos, Oysters(GulfCoast), Lobster grilled cheese and the Tilapia fish sticks!! Shout out to our favorite servers Ana, LaSean, Bartender Jason and Manager Parker!!! First time I came here and it was amazing. We got charbroiled oysters, shrimp queso, shrimp and lobster grilled cheese and a cheese burger. Everything was amazing!! Service was quick, our server was so nice and friendly... The manager came out and brought us a sampler of soups and some shrimp in cocktail sauce. They have a small selection of draft beer but a good wine and cocktail selection. The music is great, atmosphere is very chill and laid back. We'll definitely be back and can't wait to bring family & friends from out of town here

We dined here several times already and the food, service and patio atmosphere has been excellent every time. Menu is different than a few years ago which is a good thing. The oysters are always fresh and tasty. So far we tried the salmon, red fish and Cod main dishes...all were cooked to perfection. Portions are good for the price as well. Lastly, the warm chocolate brownie is a must try!

I love Half Shells patio and their fish and chips! It’s always cooked just right and not greasy. The patio is wonderful for families or dates. Love that there is a green plaza area outside for kids. The remodel is so beautiful. Love this place! Try the delicious crab cakes!

Just had an incredible meal at Half Shells! Found it by accident & feel so fortunate. We were welcomed with a sampler platter of soups & oyster nachos. Each soup was delicious, but loved the roasted jalapeno soup & the Gumbo. We loved the oyster nachos so much we ordered a full helping. So good! Dinner was Crab Stuffed Salmon and Shrimp/Crab stuffed flounder, both served with scrumptious sides and lip-smacking sauces. Can't wait to go back! Delicious food, big portions, great prices, friendly service & relaxing atmosphere!

This was my first time at Half Shells. I was very pleasantly surprised and I plan to return. My waiter, Kyle was very engaging. I tried a soup sampler and all of them were great. I had fried catfish and shrimp with a side salad and fries. It was all great. The food was all hot when it arrived. I would say cooked to perfection. Much better than the former Fish City Grill. I thought the price point was very fair for the quality of food that was served.

Great Staff equally great food. We stopped in to check out the menu and the friendly staff gave us some samples and next thing you know we were ordering lunch which was really nice good from Gumbo to stuff Shrimp

Our first time experience was phenomenal. The chef brought out sampler platters of soup and appetizers. We were only planning on staying for a drink but ended up ordering our meal there. The jalapeno chowder is out of this world as well as all of the soups that they have.

It was my first time trying Fish City Grill . It was very delicious and we had the best waitress Ana was very polite and very attentive if you had a problem she would help you in any way . It was my first time and it sure won’t be my last time. The Clam chowder and the Nashville Chicken sandwich are really good .

Jorge and Lindsay did a great job of taking care of me. Serafin fish tacos are my favorite. Always delicious.

The servers were friendly and very helpful. The calamari and red beans and rice were great. They made my special request of chicken picatta with spinach and it was wonderfully delicious.

This was our 1st time here and we will definitely be back. The $2 dollar chargrilled oysters won us over. They are to die for. So delicious 😋. You will not be disappointed if you go on a Saturday for Happy Hour. They have so many specials. You will not be disappointed.

Half Shells is wonderful! East coast oysters, the mystic mermaids were great, nice brine. The soups are out of this world! Crab bisque, clam chowder, gumbo, I couldn't decide so my wife and I got a cup of all the and shared, they are all amazing! We split fish and chips, came out hot and crisp, very good. The drinks were also delightful and well presented. Our server Faye was so sweet and helpful and attentive, the manager was also friendly and helpful. This place is really great come try it!

Absolutely amazing!! I’m very picky when it comes to seafood and I couldn’t get enough! It was our first time here too and the owner came to welcome us. Went here for lunch on a Saturday and the service was impeccable. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly. One of us is gluten free and the waiter was so helpful when recommending items. Our waiter was funny and attentive. We even received a free sampler for it being our first time. Such a great experience!

We spent a beautiful Saturday evening sitting on their outdoor patio. Food and staff were fantastic. Right outside the restaurant is a open rec area so we kicked back after dinner and had a few drinks while the kiddos played. I can't wait to come back especially when the temps drop a little.

Not half shells, by any means! This is the whole mollusk. We didn't know what to expect just from looking over the menu on-line, but wow, were we surprised! In a good way. The food was fab!!! The service, Frank was our server, was outstanding and the venue was very inviting and open. And I do mean open! The side of the restaurant was opened glass doors overlooking a park area which made for a delightful seating arrangement. The fish and chips were perfectly cooked, hot and yummy. The salmon green salad was superb and the fried oysters on a tortilla chip with Pico was stunningly delish!

Food has always been fresh and hot. Called and spoke to the manager about one of the "chalkboard specials" that my wife loved from a previous visit and although it was not on the board, they were able to make it for her. That went a long way for me. We have always enjoyed this place even with the changes through the years. One of pur favorite spots in the area.

So this was a follow up visit as the last time we went, we didn't have a great experience so we tried it again. Well this time was spectacular. Food came out quickly and delicious. Look at the pics! We had the sampler appetizer and it was great. Hot and fresh. The calamari was crispy and the crab dip was very tasty with the chips and fried pickles. I also had a cup of gumbo which was also delicous. But the stars of the show were the entrees. I had the blackened mahi mahi with green beans and lemon rice and my wife had the salmon power salad. We both ate it all! Wife said it was a great piece of fish and I said the same. Pricing was excellent as those entries would easily be $30 plus elsewhere. Needless to say, we will be back. Thanks !

The atmosphere is phenomenal! Always love a beautiful day out here in Cinco Ranch enjoying it on the patio at Half Shells seafood. Really close to play areas and tons of outdoor walking available. The food here is always spot on. From the fluffy and fully packed poboys to the wonderful boiled crawfish. Crab bisque is also a must, but my all-time favorite are the fried mushrooms! Service is a hit or miss, but the food and atmosphere make up for it. It's a favorite outdoor spot for me and the wifey+baby.

We love eating here. Food is always great and they have great specials. They have a great Happy Hour on Saturday. I love drinking Cosmo Martinis. But make sure you ask for Evan to make your Cosmo! Great waiter and great bartender. Recommend the Oyster Nachos.

My mom and I love to come here! Last time we went, we got the Branzino and the Halibut that was on special and shared both. Every bite we took, we couldn’t help but say “yum!” Every time we go, the service is friendly and attentive. Can’t recommend this place more!

Food is great all the time. I've been eating here 15 years, and food's always perfect. The kitchen staff deserves bonuses, as they always do a great job. Food's well presented, well cooked and delicious, decent portions. A nice, but busy, lively atmosphere. Prices are reasonable for what you get. My whole family raves about this restaurant, some say "it's my favorite place." Definitely make a reservation holidays and weekends....busy. Not only is the kitchen staff highly skilled, but the upper level management seems to truly care about how the restaurant is operated: how the food served, its customer's opinions, the total experience. I had a recent problem with a visit, and the company totally took care of me, completely remedied my problem, wanted to make it right. Very impressive. Next time in side Houston, I'm coming back here.

We just had our anniversary lunch at Half Shells. We have been going there for years, including when it was still named Fish City Grill. Our experience was quite good today. We started with the Oyster Nachos. If you haven't tried the Oyster Nachos, it is worth a trip just to try them. Fried oysters with remoulade sauce and fresh salsa on a tortilla chip. Outstanding! One of those unique flavor combinations that has to be tried at least once. I had a cup of crab bisque, which was unbelievable (since I had never tried it before). Didn't realize what I was missing. It is not on the regular menu anymore. Thick and creamy and a perfect blend of spices that kicks all over the palette. I had blackened catfish, which was blackened to perfection, still moist and seasoned with a kick. My wife had Coconut Crusted Shrimp with a Thai sauce off the blackboard. Very well done with the Thai sauce pairing extremely well with the savor of the coconut. The staff was very helpful and attentive. An extremely good anniversary lunch thanx to the food and the service! Highly recommend.

My son was visiting and wanted Oysters. I performed a google search and found Half Shell. The location was Cinco Ranch City Center TX. Very nice area with eateries and shopping. We looked at the menu and immediately wanted the grilled oysters. Unfortunately we arrived Sunday afternoon and the Friday thru Saturday crowd had consumed those. But we were able to order smaller oysters on the half shell that were served in lime juice with horse radish and cocktail on the side. Delicious!

Stopped by on saturday for the first time. Enjoyed the place ! We ordered calamari which is one of the best I’ve had -delicious thai sauce with it. My wife got the bisque n now she’s obsessed. We shared the fish tacos & they had great flavor. The bartender was young but made solid drinks and took great care of us while it was busy. Cool place to sit because they open the window and can put on college football at the bar so the vibe, service, and food were all there. Will definitely be back!

Early lunch is the best time to eat here. This area gets extremely busy on the weekends and seating can be hard to find. Having outside seating benefits parents. They can watch them play in the green space from their table. The stuffed flounder was cooked perfectly and had the right amount of dill sauce to accent the flavor. I enjoyed the rice but I would have to say a risotto is a much better pairing for this dish. Steamed broccoli had a lemon flavoring, which was an excellent combination with the fish. I would recommend this dish. We enjoyed everything we had and the pricing is reasonable. Staff were friendly and service was quick. Use the guest WiFi as the service is terrible in that area.

Decided to try some seafood while visiting the shops. This place caught my eye and I am glad I visited. First and foremost the customer service was great. We informed them that it was our first time visiting and they gave us samples of their soups. The bisque is so creamy and buttery. The sampler appetizer was great. My boys had the fish and chips which was made with a wonderful white fish that was firm enough for a good bite and it did not fall apart. My wife and I split the special stuffed salmon and we were decently pleased with the dish. If I am in the area I would definitely recommend a visit. I cannot wait to try the other restaurants around as well as this is a cool shopping center to visit with wonderful places to eat. Make this place a stop while you visit and you will not be disappointed. Oh and if you like a good old fashion you will enjoy a very good one here.

Great place in LA Centera. Has beautiful outside seating by the lake and has nice seating inside also. Nichole helped us yesterday and was so nice and helped us with anything we needed. One of the managers came by and gave us samples of their soups, bisque, and chowder. They were all very good. My favorite was the clam chowder. The golf oysters were very good too! Definitely will be coming back!! : )

Half Shells is one of the most consistent seafood restaurants in the area. The fish is fresh and the shrimp are always tasty. The staff always seem happy and are super friendly, whether it's the weekend or the weekday. All are knowledgeable of the menu and actually eat there so don't be afraid to ask them for recommendations! Some recommended dishes are whatever is on the chalkboard, fried or grilled catfish and shrimp, Cajun shrimp boil (seasonal), and red beans and rice. Golden margaritas as well Restaurant is always clean.

Today is May 6, 2024 and I’m so happy. I finally got to try this place. We were greeted by the host who was friendly. We were able to pick the table of our choice. We ordered the calamari for an appetizer and they were cooked very well and they came with two dips… one tartar sauce, and I forgot the other but it was good. So the fish and chips were very tasty, including the fries and cute small hush puppies. The server was very attentive by bringing us drinks every five minutes. The atmosphere was very clean and inviting, including the restrooms. Price was very decent, especially for top quality seafood. The portions were good and let’s not forget the seasoning on the fries that were very tasty. If you plan to go during the week around lunchtime, you will be very pleased in the meal that you enjoy there.

My family and I recently wanted to go out to celebrate a special occasion. The weather was nice so we decided to go somewhere where we could eat outside on a patio. We decided to head to La Centerra at Cinco Ranch and walk around until wee saw a place that caught our eye. Half Shells had a nice open patio facing a green space which was great for getting a breeze and people watching. We decided to give them a try and were very glad we did. The atmosphere, service, and food were all excellent! Its a little pricy - but keep your eyes open as Half Shells sends out coupons in local mailers from times to times (we actually had a $10 off coupon). I can't say enough about the service we received from our waiter Kyle! He was awesome - very nice, checked on us often, offered us a small sampler since it was our first trip, and made some menu recommendations that we took his advice on - that were excellent!! He recommended the Lobster and Shrimp Grilled Cheese - which honestly is one of the best seafood sandwiches I have ever had! We also had the fish tacos, and grilled fish sandwich which were also very good...but the star of the night was the Lobster and Shrimp Grilled Cheese!!! Kyle's awesome service alone made the visit worth while, but the food was also worth the price I thought. My only issue with our trip was that in the green space we were facing a kid was blowing bubbles that were blowing directly onto the patio. At first it didn't seem like a big deal - but after a few bubbles hitting us and our food it was a little annoying (not the restaurants fault I guess since it wasn't on their property). Give this place a try - ask for Kyle as your waiter, and try the seafood grilled cheese - you won't bee disappointed! REVISED - also visited on 06/25/23. Another great meal and atmosphere. Stephanie was our waitress who was very nice and took excellent care of us. We celebrated my wife's birthday and the restaurant treated us awesome. It was a great day and another great trip to dine at this location. BTW - had the seafood enchiladas this time - and they were awesome! Salmon, Mahi, and Shrimp all wrapped up in great enchiladas with excellent rice and bean sides - for $12.99 is a perfect dish. Again - highly recommend this place!

Absolutely love the food here. The servers are also very nice. I would just like to point out a couple things that could make it even better.. Prices have become much higher compared to the previous management. More variety of side options would be great. Please when someone asks for extra sauce don’t bring it cold.. heat it up. Finally better attention to cleanliness and hygiene would be appreciated. Tables, chairs and floors need a good wipe down after each guest which sometimes gets missed. They need someone just to pick up dishes and clean after each guest rather than the servers trying to do it. Thanks

I think this is an underrated nieghborhood gem. It's consistently solid.. great oysters on the half shell and daily specials . The lobster and shrimp grill cheese is decadent and delicious. It's not super fancy but nice.. it's not dirt cheap or crazy expensive, just right. Good food, good service.. for a good price at a nice facility overlooking the main green area at LaCentera. Wonder place to sit outside on a nice day or evening.

Half Shells is not half bad. We discovered this little gem on a lunch visit with our Fidelity advisor. We definitely liked the soup flight and will be sure yo order some on our next visit. Staff and food are great!

My husband and I went for the first time a few nights ago. The owner of the restaurant came by to welcome us and shared a sample platter just because it was our first time at the restaurant. Our waitress was so charming. The oyster nachos are amazing, as are their soups. I took one star away because I did not love my shrimp tacos but my husband really enjoyed his stuffed flounder. Will definitely give it another chance, if only for the happy hour oyster nachos.

Food is good, I personally love the jalapeño soup and the chargrilled oysters. Service is sometimes good sometimes just OK. But hopefully you don’t need to use the restrooms! They only have 2 (one for boys one for girls) for the entire restaurant and staff.....

For being an oyster bar they didn't do a very good job at it. The oysters were fine, but they were ordered as a starter but didn't show up until the main course was served. Then, on top of that only one side of the muscle was cut so they didn't slide out . Just a quick follow-up. Andrea of Half Shell responded to my review and stated she wanted to make things good and gave me her email to contact her. Over two weeks ago, I did just that, and I have not heard a thing back from my email.

Service was good, place wasn’t too full. Food was alright. Fish and chips were good but not over the top. I ordered the sockeye salmon, portion was small, the asparagus was better than the salmon in my opinion.

Foods was average and the portion was also average. We chose to sit outside with our daughter and toddler grandson. Our table was facing a great view of LaCenterra Central Green playground. There was a full band playing Latino music. I had the lobster and shrimp sandwich, my wife had the grilled catfish and daughter had fishes and chips. I was expecting more of kinda lobster roll but turned out just an average cheesy sandwich. We all gone and sat on the grass after dinner and enjoy the band so I would say the atmosphere was excellent.

Great service and good food. I enjoyed the fish tacos and the old fashioned. The chargrilled oysters were good but could be cooked slightly more. The only dud was the bread pudding which too thick and overcooked.

We went there last Saturday, very friendly staff, food is fine, the patio view is nice and you can see the playground in la centererra. We just felt rushed to pay before we ordered desert and right after we ordered desert, just being asked to pay, then the desert was brought while the table is full of dinner plates, waiters now just want tip but no prebussing or refilling drinks. That kinda ruined a nice dinner experience.

Our first time at this place. Dennis was very helpful. We started with Calamari which is marvelous. Soup came way too Salty. We came for the fish and chips because i was craving for it. It could have been delicious but again batter and fries too salty. Husband ordered blacked chicken cob salad he was complaining about it. We will return only if they lay low with SALT! Looking at some of the reviews i guess you are known for overdoing your salts.

Came to try this location and had a bad impression from the hostess! She is lazy and didn’t care to seat us at our table. The table was windy making hard to read the menu so I asked her to help and move us to another table infront of us. That table was dirty and we waited for over 10 minutes and nothing was done. The restaurant was empty inside so I was able to sit down myself. I decided to then just seat myself in a booth because I was not helped at all! No silverware was given we request from the young guy who brought our food but he just did a rude face to our server to get us some. Gumbo taste fresh and good taste! ⭐️ Good option on the chalkboard which is written nice and clear! ⭐️ Waiter was nice ⭐️

Not a clean place, tables and chairs were covered with crumbs and dust. The young girl was good but very inexperienced. Maybe her first job or so. Totally understand that. Messed up our order. The manager came and gave us what we intended for and didn’t take the food that was served wrongfully. They fumbled with the money too. Couldn’t figure out how much change to return. Felt so sorry to go with a big group with little to no crowd for lunch. With only 2/3 tables full, I don’t know why all this happened. Food was ok. Hush puppies were over fried and dry, key lime pie had a shampoo smell and the sandwich was so so.

Waitress was very nice. Charbroiled oysters tasted too fishy as if they just put the cheese and garlic on top and warmed them, not really charbroiled. The ahi tuna was ok, too much sauce. It took away from the tuna. Boiled seafood: didn’t get potatoes, but they did bring out one red potato later. Crabs were overcooked, soggy and rubbery. Tried it ✅

Came here for a quick bit with my husband on date night and was really bothered by the fact that we were sat literally around the corner of the restaurant (we requested to sit outside) when we were being shown to our table, there was only one family outside who was getting ready to leave. We passed up so many empty tables but we were still sat around the corner and it did not feel like we were a part of the restaurant at all which was very upsetting and strange. Once the waitress came to our table, I asked the if we could move to which she said yes and we did but it was still a strange experience. Our waitress was very friendly and accommodating but being placed so far away from everyone else was a bit upsetting.

Food is subpar. Ordered shellfish linguine, got spaghetti noodles with a very diluted and unseasoned water sauce. Do not recommend unless you’re just going so you can have a comfortable seat while you watch your kids play in central green

Their customer service, food taste and food portions do not match their pricing. Not impressed. Waited to be served forever while servers were by what looks like the kitchen area conversing. It's a NO for me. Well, onto the next 3,400th restaurant in Houston/Katy/Spring/Sugarland/Woodlands and the endless list goes on😜. PS...Pictures are of the Gumbo and that size is the bowl. Yep, best believe it!!!

First time to NOT be served drinks unless we ordered more than 1 appetizer when there were plenty of tables at 5pm on a Sunday. Great space otherwise! Server was polite and wonderful. We already had 2 charcuterie boards, meatball appetizers, and a hummus board BEFORE arriving so only ordered 4 drinks and the oyster nacho appetizer. (Which were not great but not bad. Would not order again.) Didn't plan on ordering dinner as we were not yet hungry. About 25 mins after putting our drink orders in, we were told by the manager that we wouldn't be served our FIRST round of drinks unless we ordered something else. We had wine earlier and were sober except for 1 person. As if more oysters or fish would make a difference? First time for everything

The ambience and all was good plus the drinks But the food was not seasoned, especially the dirty rice. It was slimy and spoilt The seafood boil I had didn’t have any taste and after I asked the server, he had a big stinky attitude Do not waste your money!!

I've been here multiple times this had to be the worst experience sitting at the bar at a restaurant that I have in awhile. The bartender from the moment I sat down seemed like she had a attitude. There were 2 couples sitting at the bar but she wasn't overwhelmed. She definitely treated them differently and not in a good way. I asked for some Tabasco. All she says was when she got a chance. Everytime I asked something from her there was always a smart remark afterwards. She would give everyone there ticket when they left it was either a pleasure or see you next time. With me on the other hand she didn't say nothing. Atleast she could have done was given me a beer in a cold glass like she did everyone else. Alex definetly needs to work on her customer service skills I'm hoping it wasn't a race thing. 76 dollars expected better.
