Came in for catfish, found out that the fish was fried in the same oil as the shrimp( I have a severe shellfish allergy) BUT they tried everything the could to accommodate me and went above and beyond to give me something delicious to eat! We will definitely be returning to this establishment again! Thank you very much for everything!
Quaint and local. Can be busy at times due to the limited seating. Can also be noisy during busy times. While I've had a couple of good meals there, I've also had some pretty mediocre meals there so, it may all depend upon the day of the week or the time of the day or the mood of the cook. But to give them the benefit of the doubt, they're a one-of-a-kind place and they're not a big box chain so, they have the possibility of being better and that deserves a 5 star rating. For what they are and what they do, they are probably the best we're gonna get in the area. But could they compete with a more experienced owner/staff and still get 5 stars? Probably not. If one were to move in just down the street, this place would probably be caught napping, but then, in a small town, that's part of the charm.
The food was excellent (best sausage and gravy in years!). The service was genuinely kind. The cost was incredible. So glad we bumped into this breakfast spot between Cove and Lampasas. It is so worth the easy drive. Thank you!
Had a wonderful home cooked brunch. I had desperate man plate, wife had an omelet. Both great, I was stuffed, she took half home. Nice, local, mom & pop kinda place with food worth the drive. We'll be back.
They have a steak and cheese sandwich on a pretzel bone shaped bun that they get from local German restaurant, it is fabulous!!!!!! You cherish every bite. The sweet potatoe fries are great too!!!! The people are so friendly. Breakfast is wonderful, never had a bad meal there. I reccommend this place to everyone. Pancakes are to die for. Cant wait to go back. Its going to take a long time to try everything on menu, but that is my goal. Thank you guys, love your place.🥰🥰🥰
It wasn't our first visit, so we knew what to expect. The food was amazing, the service was first-class and even though she was serving the whole cafe by herself, Amber was a real professional. She was polite, efficient and knew how to take care of customers. I would recommend this establishment without hesitation.
Sweet home feeling. Service was quick and food was good.
Love this place. Friendly and the food is way better than mine.
Best breakfast I've had in forever. Well worth the trip.
Everything about this place was 5 stars! The hash browns had the perfect amount of seasoning. The omelet was delicious and service was great. We will definitely be back.
Plenty of good food, great service and price. We enjoy everything there the staff. It's too bad they're not open for dinner.. So log cabin may start opening in the evenings hopefully looking forward to that.. I must say that the wait staff - very friendly attentive very nice. To go or in person it's very pleasant and the food is good plentiful reasonably priced. New menu, more choices. A few more tables would be great.
I’ve been to Log Cabin several times now and it is the best place for a good home cooked meal. It doesn’t matter if it’s breakfast, lunch or dinner the food is amazing. The meal arrives at your table hot, which is one of my biggest pep peeve in any restaurant. Any meal that comes out of the kitchen, should never come out hot. This places is amazing and I love it. Whoever the owner is please keep up the excellent work you and your crew are doing. Thank you for your service. I will return for their catfish meal, which I heard is awesome! Thank you again!
The breakfast we ordered was delicious! The portions are big, so I couldn't eat it all, but the atmosphere is great, so quiet and quaint. Service was a little slow, but I think they were training new staff.
The atmosphere is cozy and the food is delicious. I'll definitely be back.
Probably the 4th 5 star review I’ve left for this place. Service unmatched. Her name is Sheila. All the meats rollover, unmatched. All of it was superb. This place puts any other breakfast place to shame IMHO.
Love their breakfast!!!! Waitress is always very friendly and welcoming.
Absolutely delicious small town cafe! The are limited on staff so be prepared for a wait time. Food does take a minute but fresh food always does, and this food is worth the wait! The food looked and tasted so good that I did not even stop to take a picture before digging. I order the small kacklberry paste with Sunny side up eggs, bacon, hasbrowns, and a biscuit. Everything was delicious! My husband got chicken fried steak, two sunny side up eggs, potatoes with vegetables and biscuit with gravy. I am not a chicken fried steak fan but had two bites of his because it was so good. Everything tasted fresh and scratch made, we will be back. I am excited to try the catfish next time.
This is my second time coming here and with the year apart it's still as great as the first time! The people were fantastic! Friendly and attentive. And the food is just like home!!! They made sure my table was clean and brought me a drink right away. If you want good, fresh home cooking just like mama or grandma use to make I highly recommend coming here!!!
If you want a good home cooked meal, this is the place to go to. The owner, waitress, cook .. everyone that works there is soooo nice.
Great little place Love the atmosphere and good comfort food at affordable price
Great little mom and pop shop. Great food. Service is awesome. Always willing to serve.
Fan-freakin-tastic! We brought in a group of 14 people on a Monday morning and The Log Cabin did not disappoint. We ordered a little bit of everything and every order was perfect. This place is the real deal. Everything was home made, the biscuits were light and fluffy, the chicken fried steak was crunchy and perfect, eggs were scrambled well, and the home fries are 👌. Thank you for the hospitality and a wonderful waitress, Geraldine (sorry for the spelling).
One of the best burgers in the surrounding area. The cheeseburger was fresh and to the point. The sweet potato fries were crisp on the outside and tender inside. The portion was great for the price. I definitely recommend stopping in and trying anything on the menu.
My coworker told me he loved this place and I’ve been meaning to try it but I’m no early riser. Finally got the chance to stop by and it was a great experience. The restaurant is small and the parking is limited, you check in with them if they’re full and they will come grab you from your vehicle when they are ready which I thought was nice and thoughtful instead of making you wait outside. Staff is super friendly and it’s definitely a local secret. The food was all delicious and high quality for breakfast food plates were $10-$20 roughly and you could expect to spend around $15 per person. I ordered the Rad plate for breakfast with a waffle and my wife ordered the chicken fried steak. Out of the two the Rad Plate was the absolute show stopper but the chicken fried steak was no slouch either. Everything seems to be from scratch, & totally delicious, the steak was so flavorful and the entire breakfast was very savory. Waffle was fluffy and cooked perfectly. I got a kick out of the fact that they use log cabin brand syrup. So good, I appreciate keeping things small and serving quality food and service. Definitely coming back!
Very creative sandwiches and dishes. I got a RAD which is actually an awesome keto meal. You can eat really healthy here or get pancakes with fried chicken. Totally worth stopping by.
I had a really great experience at Log Cabin Cafe, a cozy county-style restaurant that knows how to serve up a delicious breakfast. This place had all the classic dishes you'd expect, but what really set it apart was the unexpected variety of side options they offered. As someone who likes to keep things on the lower-carb side, I was thrilled to find fresh fruit choices like strawberries, as well as sweet potatoes, tomatoes, and other veggies to choose from. It was a refreshing change from the usual biscuits, hash browns, and pancakes. When my friends and I walked into Log Cabin Cafe, it was packed! But that didn't stop the staff from making us feel welcome and taking great care of us. They were quick to make sure we had everything we needed and consistently checked on us throughout our meal. I opted for their veggie omelet with cheese, but I couldn't resist adding bacon to it because, well, bacon makes everything better! Instead of the usual biscuit and hash browns, I went with tomatoes and sweet potato fries. And let me tell you, it was a winning combination. Honestly the tomatoes were fresh and added a good amount of flavor. The omelet was loaded with fresh and perfectly cooked vegetables (peppers, onions, jalapenos, etc.) and the addition of the crispy bacon took it to another level. The juicy tomatoes added a nice tang, and the sweet potato fries were a delightful alternative to the traditional sides. What really impressed me about Log Cabin Cafe was their commitment to using fresh ingredients. You could actually taste the difference, like making it at home. The food was not only delicious but also served hot. It was obvious that they put a lot of care into preparing each dish, and it made a world of difference. Now to talk about the price. If you’ve read any of my other reviews, you’ve come to learn I am all about getting my money’s worth. I am cautious with what I spend, but that doesn’t mean I am willing to settle for subpar food- I know what good food is worth! I was pleasantly surprised at how reasonable our bill was. With tax, our bill for four people came out to around $54.00. We all made minor changes to the meal as it appeared on the menu and they didn’t upcharge for every detail. It was a good deal considering the quality of the food and the portions we received. I left feeling completely satisfied, as did my friends. If you're looking for a breakfast spot that goes beyond the usual and offers something a little different, Log Cabin Cafe is the place to go. The friendly staff, fresh ingredients, and yummy dishes make it a breakfast adventure worth embarking on. I will be back to try other menu items in the future!
First time visiting there and we were not disappointed! Went there for breakfast and had the All Meat Rollover (Omelette), hash browns with cheese and Texas toast. The portions were good size, food was flavorful, tea was perfect, and the wife didn't complain about food for the first time! We will be return customers. The empty plate is mine!
Breakfast was fantastic! Delicious! Service is excellent! Restaurant has this Moms and Pops vibe…so cozy and so clean. Highly recommend!
Been eating here for about 2 years. Yet to have an issue. Food is always hot, service is friendly, prices are reasonable. Noticed they have a Catfish fry on Fridays. Figured I'd give it a try. Been there twice for the fish so far and counting. Sides are good, fish comes out hot, fresh, moist, flaky, and full of flavor. I was stuffed from the meal. Looking forward to another Friday fish fry. If you have not tried this lil cafe, make a point to. Hidden gem in my opinion.
Great Breakfast, nice service, highly recommend! Have found a place near Copperas Cove that is way better than any place in town. Chicken fried steak is good, hashbrowns are executed well. 3 x in last 3 weeks and Great service every time. I also won the nice Father's Day prize. We will be back many times.
Love the food, very homestyle, absolutely a place to stop and try. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for good comfy food..can't wait to back this way and stop by for my next fix.
I’m from Burnet but decided I wanted to try a new place. I drove with no destination and ended up at this Log Cabin Cafe. Let me tell you.. the hash browns were the best I’ve actually ever had. I also got the full order of the biscuits & sausage gravy and it was great! My server Amber was working so hard and was serving everyone in the building, making teas, taking orders, and managing the whole front desk all while there was an afternoon rush. She absolutely crushed it with the service and I was very impressed with this place.
It's always good sign when the parking lot's is full on a Saturday morning.Even with one waitress the food came out quickly and was delicious the chicken fried steak breakfast was excellent as well as the other food we had. Our waitress Jenni was excellent highly skilled even taking care of the entire place everybody appeared to be well taken care of and happy......
It's hard to find restaurants like this anymore. Kempner is a very small town, so I'm hoping folks from the more populous areas nearby will read this and frequent this eatery. If anyone deserves to have good business, it's the Log Cabin. I've been there about a dozen times and my experience has been the same each time. They don't seem to have bad days, or inconsistent meals, like many others do these days. Staff is excellent as reviewers have mentioned, but the customers are also very friendly. I literally strike up conversations whenever I'm there and it's like Old Home Week every time. Just moved back to this area and I eat solo these days, so it's really nice to find a place where I'm welcomed like family. I'm a vet and this is a veteran owned and frequented business. Top notch comfort food in a very comforting environment. Breakfast is tricky - it's a lot of food and you will likely eat every last bite, so be prepared to be stuffed! Lunch is every bit as good as breakfast. My Grandfather used to run a Mom & Pop bkft/lunch Diner when I was a kid. Everyone loved it. This place reminds me of those days of quality and kindness in a convivial atmosphere. Everything I want and nothing I don't in a workday meal. Stop in and enjoy!

Love this place! Been eating here for many years. The food is always amazing and the staff is always welcoming. Fresh homemade food!
Highly recommend! So sweet, fast service on a Saturday at 10am. The chicken fried steak was bomb, super crispy and on top of CRISPY hash browns. The white sausage gravy was peppery and delicious. The pancakes were HUGE and delicious as well ❤️ The menu is worth the read 😂
We’re new to the area, and we ventured out for brunch one Saturday afternoon. This place was perfection!! The food was delicious, the staff were all friendly and professional, and the atmosphere was great. It was very relaxed, and the vibes were great. We’ll definitely be back!!
Best little Cafe near Cove. Had first visit today and we were completely taking in the coziness of this Cafe. Larger party needed larger table. We offered it to them and moved which we were surprised when they paid for our meal! Such thoughtful patrons nor was it expected. Loved the food..I had Ken's plate and omg..fantastic first trip. Hubby loved his as well. Great ladies taking care of you. Will definitely be back!
Ate breakfast with my family here today. It was so good!!! I can't wait to go back and try the catfish dinner! The waitress was awesome. I'd highly recommend stopping by if passing through the big city of Kempner!
Small Cafe with great food at a good price. We had breakfast and everything was well prepared and delicious. The service staff was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming. This is an all around good cooking cafe!

This place gets slammed on weekend mornings, so be advised you may have to wait for seating. There was only one cook when we went last, which slowed things down a lot. But the servers knocked 10% off our bill for our wait and made sure everyone was comfortable. We definitely plan on going again.
Kempner’s best kept secret. Truly a community diner with good old fashions country cooking and service with a smile. My wife and I whet extremely happy with our experience here over breakfast and will be coming back again for lunch and future coffee.
Decent, small breakfast place a little east of Kempner on south side of highway. Food is good quality and decent quantity. I had a normal breakfast, eggs over easy, hashbrowns, sausage, biscuit and coffee. Service was reasonable, although after we got our food we were not checked on again, until we asked for the check. Atmosphere....you arent going to get much in a small place...@ 10 tables. We've been several times....its been reasonable even when they are extra busy and we've added 2 adults & 2 very young granddaughters to our "group."
I’ve been coming here since I was a little girl, so bringing my newlywed spouse here was such a nostalgic and heartwarming experience. Even though ownership has changed over the years, the atmosphere still feels the same. The only noticeable difference is that cigarette smoking is no longer allowed inside — which I don’t mind at all. It’s still the same familiar place that holds so many memories for me, and now new ones with my husband.

Wanted to see if I would get a better breakfast here. The biscuit was good. The ice tea was good. The bacon my husband got was good. Nothing else was cooked with spice. No salt, pepper nothing. Omelets and potatoes need a little something to not taste bland. I was disappointed. Because they are local. I will try a hamburger next time.
Like another review has already said this place can be very bipolar. First time was great, this last and final time we were there there was a very distinct and strong smell of naphthalene throughout the whole restaurant. We sat there for an hour waiting for food in a restaurant with maybe 3 tables. This whole time I watched as some other customers that the staff obviously knew walked in, ordered and got their food, ate and then ordered again ate that and was paying their check. Needless to say we won't be back.
