The food was absolutely delicious. Enjoyed the chips and salsa and especially the margaritas.
Jose provided great customer service, food was wonderful, and the portion size was enough for my husband and I to share lunch and have plenty for dinner. Chips and salsa are excellent! We will definitely be going back!
We were staying in Burnet for a long weekend and this place easily became our favorite restaurant. Their brunch is amazing. Drinks are awesome. Prices were great. And Leo our server was fantastic. We went back 3 times during our stay!!
Fish tacos & beef fajitas were outstanding! Recently renovated with cool bar ?& outdoor patio.
Not sure about the scorpion review before me🤷 Me and my son were at this restaurant just 30 minutes ago and our experience was completely different ! Going thru Kingsland, we stopped here cus there is always cars. Got drinks and chips real quick. Took order and I like my barbacoa taco w/ lime and onion and that's what I got. Everything was well spiced and tasted great ! It was busy so we had to wait on the bill for a minute but overall 👍👍
Totally different place. Wow! Still great food. Plating got fancy. Same people, just a remodel to the place. This is a good place with nice views to Lake LBJ. It has authentic Mexican plates and Tex-Mex plates. The service is fast and nice. They had a rough launch, but it looks like it is settled in. I think they are doing great for how long it has been since they opened. They do the funniest birthday song.
Recent remodel makes this the coolest place in town! Great service, food and margs. Plan to have a late lunch and spend the afternoon in their great new bar and patio.
This was hands-down, the best service I have gotten at a Mexican food restaurant and top five best food I’ve gotten from a “chain restaurant” we received our food very quickly. Our server was very attentive and extremely nice. Definitely going back.
We had margaritas they were great
Awesome stormy evening Hill Country find. A Kingsland treasure. Leo was our server and was top notch. We shared the mixed Parrillada and the super extra large mango margarita (rocks), which really hit the spot. We drove in a torrential downpour from Liberty Hill to get here but it was well worth it. We’ll be back.
We were in town for a friend’s wedding and needed a place for dinner. After finding this spot online, we decided to give it a try. It looks like it was recently renovated. I ordered the birria tacos, and they were fantastic! My mom had the beef fajita quesadilla, and the meat was tender and full of flavor. A must-visit!
We love La Tequila - it is the best Mexican food around in my opinion
Extremely delicious food! Pretty interior and fast, friendly service.
Their enchilada plate was outstanding, boss had a burrito and he loved it.
Great margaritas. Food came out hot and fast.
We love coming here! Service is always great. We had our meal paid for tonight by a lovely couple that saw my husband and I with our 9 month old daughter. Hope to see them again soon to join us for dinner! Our baby loved the attention from this couple and the employees. Love our small town with great people!
This is hands down, in my humble opinion, THE best mexican resturant I have tried yet. The waiter and waitresses always greet us us personally even if we are not thier table. The remodel was a huge success and the new menus are superb. Please keep up the great example for other food service establishments
What a great find! Authentic Mexican flavors the ceviche isn’t overloaded with tomato juice (finally!), and the al pastor tacos had real clove seasoning. Best Mexican food in town. Staff was excellent. A must-try in Kingsland!
I ordered a super quesadilla with pastor & it was AWESOME! The staff is great and I love the vibe. Definitely better than most of the other Mexican restaurants in the area.
Very nice inside best Mexican food I’ve had and chips and salsa was great as well
We are regulars. The renovations really made the place feel welcoming and reminds you of stepping into Mexico. The food is always delicious and the kids love it!
We ate lunch and it was really good. So was the atmosphere.
Always fresh food!!! Staff is awesome and professional and awesome atmosphere.
This place is incredible 🔥 🤤 the queso dip enchiladas are ridiculous! Good prices, great food, friendly staff! We will 💯 be back!
Great food & service! Highly recommend the quesabirria, though everything we ordered was delicious!
I remember when they opened years ago their food was garbage.... But having them recently(multiple times) they've really turned things around. Their food is really good and the wait staff is friendly. Breakfast tacos are amazing along with the lunch/dinner entrees. I'm so glad we have them another chance. I really wish they had kept the high-wall booths to keep the noise down as they had before the remodel.
Excellent food! The best I've had outside of west Texas. I had the torta al pastor con patatas fritas y mi novia tenia el tacos birria. Man, it was so good it taught me Spanish. It was a little loud, but that's a me thing NOT the restaurant. I highly recommend it if you're in kingsland!
This place is very beautiful and the food is amazing my husband and I enjoyed it very much!
Quality food, great service, great prices, amazing jalapeno margaritas. You won't be disappointed.
I have been to thousands of Mexican restaurants in my life but I have never been to one as good as La Tequila! The food is so good is beyond anything I’ve ever tasted. We just moved to the Kingsland area and have already visited three times! The service was first rate and the restaurant itself is beautiful. We will definitely be back again and again until we try everything on the menu and then start over again. I promise, it’s worth the trip to Kingsland.
Their queso and their margaritas are excellent. They have great hand made tortillas for the queso, I wish they used them for the enchiladas and other dinner plates as they would greatly improve then.
The best Mexican Restaurant I have visited in a while. From the quality of the food to the amazing service. Thank you Gabriel for making us feel comfortable and welcomed. We ordered: Mocajete 100/10 my dad said top 2 of all the places he has been and ordered it Caldo de res 10/10 just perfect for the weather Salmon 10/10 we ordered 2 of these and they were delicious Drinks: Limonada 10/10 Pepino 10/10 Horchata 10/10 Club soda 10/10 Can’t wait to be back and recommend it to family and friends ❤️❤️❤️
Staff were courteous and responsive. The atmosphere was amazing. Prices were inexpensive. I'd recommend it to anyone wanting to eat there.
We came here for breakfast. There were 6 people in our party so a variety of breakfast items were ordered and served including French toast, eggs, bacon, pancakes, hash browns, fried potatoes and Breakfast croissant. All of us enjoyed our meals and were impressed with how fresh everything was including the fruit, avocados and hash browns. The service was spot on including pouring us several cups of coffee. We were vacationing and if we come back we'll definitely make this a return visit.
We came here b/c the place we were staying at for the weekend provided us w/ a few food vouchers and this was listed as one of the options. Since a friend recommended it to me, too, we decided to check it out. The restaurant was very nice, big, and busy. We came around lunch time but they were still serving breakfast. My kids got the french toast, a burrito, and tacos. They all liked their food a lot. My husband ordered Menudo. It was so nice to go to a restaurant that doesn't cost $17 for a bowl of menudo. I live in Austin and it's crazy here. Anyway, it was a large bowl full of meat and a rich, delicious broth. I got a combo plate w/ a crispy taco & 2 cheese enchiladas, rice & beans. I left no crumbs. After I left, I realized they had tripa and buche tacos and I was so sad b/c I can never find restaurants/taco trucks that serve both of those tacos. All in all, great food, great service and I wish I'd tried a margarita. Maybe next time.
Compared to the last time I was there, this was far and above any expectations. Wait server was extremely proficient and courteous. She recommended the exact entrees suited to our taste.
From TN and needed a good mexican resturant to eat at, was told to come here and was a little hesitant at first because of reviews on yelp but decided to try it anyway, so glad we did. The food was great and the service from Anna was great too! It was quiet at the time we went in and the place is clean. The queso is fantastic!! Anna was wonderful!! Try this place if you are in area.
well what a surprise! this little taste of Mexico is fantastic. the ceviche is NOT swimming in tomato juice, it was really good. we shared the grande taco plate of pastor the clover was authentic. i say go nowhere else for mexican food fix. this is best addition to Kingsland. wait staff is great.
I’m surprised this place only has 4 stars!! We’ve been here multiple times and it is always exceptionally amazing. I definitely recommend to any who loves Mexican food and is in the area. I think it’s the best Mexican restaurant anywhere in or near Kingsland. Give it a try! We’ll be back! Great food and killer margaritas!!! 👍🏼👍🏼💯👏🏼👏🏼
First of all, let me start with how quickly we were seated by the waiter. However, one thing I immediately noticed was the really good mood and vibe of the entire restaurant. Then, the waiter came and took the order for our drinks, and was really nice. Soon after, he came to take our orders didn't waste anytime yet didn't rush us. Later, the food came faster than I have gotten at any restaurant, even some fast food joints. However, the speed of their food didn't compromise the immense and deep flavor profiles the food provided. I ordered the Carne Al Pastor Plate and the pork was perfectly cooked, juicy, and had all the flavor you could want, spicy, sweet, savory, umami, sour. All working in perfect unison to make the best eating experience. The guacamole was some of the best my family has ever had, the pico de gallo was highly fresh and impressive. My brother ordered some enchiladas which were perfectly balanced and didn't have too much cheese or sauce and was the best we have had due to the flavor, texture, and balance. My father ordered chicken paradillas which was beautiful chicken with sauteed onions and bell peppers. The chicken was perfectly cooked and immensely juicy with a nice plate of cheese, guacamole, and pico de gallo. It came with some of the softest perfectly cooked flour and corn tortillas. My father also ordered a margarita which he stated, "This is the best margarita I have ever and at any restaurant or bar." At the end of our eating experience the waiter asked if we wanted dessert, although we all wanted, our stomachs were filled to brim with flavorful food. He rapidly brought the check and was very nice to us the entire time.
Delicious excellent food and service. Was very disappointed that having booked the private area for our party of 8 (celebrating early Mother’s Day and cinco de mayo) over a week beforehand, our table had been given away just before we arrived - no doubt by an overly keen member of staff who mistakenly thought a group of people walking in was us, after we’d called to confirm 30 minutes prior to our reservation time, as requested. We tried not to let it spoil our gathering but it was extremely irritating - I bet the people seated at our reserved table couldn’t believe their luck! But at least we were able to have a suitable table made up for our family. Fantastic margaritas 👍🏼🍹delicious food - Large portions - left with lots of food to go!
We had lunch here for the first time. From past reviews I was skeptical however we were happy with the experience. I will return to confirm my thoughts from this experience.
The food was good, but the rice and beans were on the cold side. Carnitas dinner was so good! Chicken quesadillas were good also. Place got busy as it was lunch time but service was quick. Horchata needs more cinnamon, a bit watery for my taste.
I would have given 5 stars for the food because everything was delicious except the migas. They were awful. Cardboard tasting eggs with soggy corn Tortillas. Very disappointed. My husband ate off my plate of barbacoa which was incredible... some of the best tasting I've ever had.
The drinks are served in what looks like a giant fish bowl. The food is very good and the place is lively after a recent decor update.
We stopped in after a softball game in Kingsland. We ordered enchiladas. The sour cream chicken enchiladas were very good, the queso enchiladas were not as good. I'm sure it's a style preference, but we did not like the refried beans or rice. The order, once taken, got to the table quickly and was hot. This place is fairly new and they have some bugs to work out in service delivery. We were seated promptly but waited more than 20 minutes to place a drink order and another 15 before we could place an order for our meal. We will likely try again because the sour cream enchiladas were so good
food is mediocre service is amazing servers are top notch best in kingsland id say very quick and friendly never an empty cup! however food is very pricy and not amazing thats why I gave 4 stars.
After Perissos winery we needed some tex mex to help soak up all the wine testing. We came in with group of nine (9) and were immediately seated in a back area that worked great for us. It allowed us to talk with each other and not have to yell over any noise or other conversations. The restaurant looks fairly new and the staff greeted us with smiles and seated us pretty quick. It was early about 4:45 so that may have something to do with it. This place I suspect fills up quick as it sits right on the lake and appears to have access for boaters from the water. It is fairly large place with a nice outside seating area with 3 large cooling units for those really hot days (like today 102 in the shade). Unfortunately no one ordered anything from the bar so can't really speak to that all still feeling pretty good from the wine tasting but chips, salsa and queso were really good fresh, spicy (even queso) but little warning the chips are a little thicker than normal so they are a little harder just heads up but I liked them you could dip your chip in the thick salsa and it did not break. Our server Chrystal was very nice and made sure our water glasses stayed full she even left a pitcher which some thought was a little lazy I think its pretty smart especially when you got 9 people and we are all drinking plenty of H2O because of the heat. My wife and I "shared" the number 41 it was beef, chicken and cubed chorizo in queso sauce all tossed in with sautéed (GREAT) onions comes with side of pico, rice, and refried beans we ordered side of guacamole and shredded cheese forgot the sour cream oh well. The flavor was amazing had never had chorizo in my fajitas before wow what a great flavor. The flour tortillas were nice and thick had good flavor as well then soaked up the cheese and chorizo grease plus doubled as a napkin as you wiped your mouth on the last bite. Another couple order the beef, chicken and shrimp fajitas for two(2) and they had so much food so best advice is when ordering their fajitas unless you want a lot of leftovers just order single portions. The kids meals were pretty basic cheese enchilada plate or quesadilla or taco. Daughter had the cheese enchilada plate and loved it all granted she ordered double rice (not big bean fan) and they missed that but she ate everything except the beans and was happy. Definitely a place we will return when back in the area and suggest if YOU are in the area...enjoy.
Good food, great service, good value for the money. Enjoyed and will be back
We had lunch today. Our service at the bar was impeccable! The food was really good. The only downside was the employee eating at the end of the bar who was watching videos on his phone with the volume at full blast. With the music and customer and restaurant noise, it was total overwhelm. Maybe require headphones?
Beautiful restaurant after the remodel. Food has good flavors. Great salsa, just enough spice. I had the enchiladas, chicken and cheese. The chicken enchiladas were very flavorful and very good but the cheese enchilada was made with Velveeta or so some kind of cheese sauce and was not stringy like the cheese should be. This is not our “go to” Mexican restaurant but would go back with friends. But not getting cheese enchiladas.
Eviche was just dry...more like dry slaw (with carrots?!) Than chunky lime-juiced cooked ceviche. Nice place, but work on some REAL traditional ceviche.
Really great Mexican food. The place has been renovated and is absolutely beautiful but the staff at the front desk wasn't the friendliest.
The friendliest and best staff in town. Always a pleasure seeing them when we come. The unfortunate downside is the pricing is a little steep. Food is pretty good and they have a nice restaurant inside. A larger outdoor sitting area, a little lower prices, and changing the lighting inside to a warmer tone and this place would be hands down the best place to go in the area. Definitely recommend coming regardless of these little quirks of mine.
A little bit disappointed, the place it's awesome. I had the aguachil but it wasn't what I expected. I had it in other places and they're good. In this place the shrimp was raw. My friend had the caldo de pollo, and it tasted old. Service wasnt that good either. We didn't get drink refills at all. I would try it again with different food
Love the remodel. Love the great service. Don’t care for the flavorless rice, mushy ground beef in the tacos, and chemical taste of the frozen margs. I wish the chef and recipes had been updated along with the remodel. We keep giving it “one more chance” and keep being disappointed.
We got 4 plates Togo and the fajitas beef were very tough the nachos were good nothing to write home about and same for quesadillas We were not thrilled with this place as the location and showmanship was great the food was kinda a let down. This is my honest review and the food can be easily upgraded. Thanks for reading my review Love and light
Food and service is good. The other waitresses were standing in the middle of the lane yapping the entire time tho. Then they bring a check but then they put the little conputer in your face to pay. Very annoying. Just take the book and go that nonsense at the counter.
Decided to give it a try. Went on 8/20/2025 at about 5pm. Was surprised that hardly anyone was there. Got seated, ordered tea. Got our tea, then had to wait almost 10 minutes to finally get waitress to take our order. Asked for sugar for tea (none on tables) after asking 3 times, the sugar finly came after our meal arrived. Our food was Luke warm. We mentioned that it was not hot and waitress in a very low voice said "I'm sorry" and walked away. I had to ask twice for tea refills. There were no.less than 7 employees walking around talking to each other. Prices were above average, food was ok, but left me with lots of indigestion thruout the night. Won't go back.
The food here is not authentic Mexican . It’s mediocre Mexican at best. The tortillas are not even homemade. If you’re from out of state, you might think it’s good.
Closed for 3 months for remodeling. Service went to pot. Wrong drinks. Asked for refill of chips never made it back. Had to complain to a Mgr to get check. Food was warm with cool spots, not at all hot. Too bad
We have been going to this restaurant for a couple years but the last 2 times our food has been Cold or slightly warm. We sent it back obviously, we don’t eat cold food! They are very unorganized and short handed. We waited 7 or 8 minutes to be seated and there were lots of tables available. Where is the manager…. They need one! Two servers are definitely not enough!! They run around like crazy and the food gets cold! There are Bells to alert servers that food is up! STOP what you’re doing and deliver food while it’s Hot!! Very disappointing as we drive 30 min to eat here!
burned vegetables, waiter let us forgotten with out drinks, asking for separate checks means nothing to them waiter left a check for 115 when I went to pay other waiter had issues inputting the order and charge 118 this is the second time we go here and I would like to keep coming back!
It was horrible. I asked for medium rib eye, got a grey gristle mass. The server wouldn't even give me 45 seconds to look at the menu. The cheese enchilada has mysterious crunch bits that seemed like egg shell. (I pray it wasn't a bug) The only thing decent was the Hawaiian burger my 5 year old ordered and the few chicken strips without questionable pieces. I am a positive person, check out all my other reviews if you need confirmation, this was a tourist trap. Over priced, gross, and rude. All they wanted to do was flip the table and make more money. Now, I do have to say that a server that wasn't ours was super sweet to my kids. I wish she was ours but still wouldn't have saved the disgusting food. Don't waste your time. Really gross. Watery beans and rice as well. Just couldn't warn you more against coming here. Yuck.
Service was terrible. Our server Lety forgot our margaritas and brought them after our meal was served . When we asked her if the chicken soup was like caldo de pollo she said yea and NO it wasn’t. Chicken on soup was terrible! They didn’t even bring out tortillas with our food. We had to ask for them.To top it off we found a hair in our enchilada plate! Needless to say it was a bad experience.
I ordered migas Friday, and a few hours after eating I started to get sick. I thought maybe the food didn’t agree with me but as the day went on I started getting sicker. It’s day 4 and I’m still sick. I will never eat here again.
Man this place food went down hill big time! Use to be the best in town no flavor with any of there food the beans were good every thing else had no flavor at all meat was dry and bland I don’t recommend
NEVER AGAIN!! After being recommended by 2-3 people try eat here and passing it for several years not having time my dad, my 6yo daughter and I finally tried it. HUGE MISTAKE!! Wait staff was friendly/polite, after a taste of the salsa given we requested another since that one had zero flavor basically ketchup. The waiter brought out 5 small bowls for us. #1 sour as of going bad literally spit it out into a napkin, #2 had a kick but wasn't great... I ended up only liking 1 of them. The Dr Pepper tasted as if I was drinking flavored lake water, took a hesitant 5 swallows total. Plates came and visibly looked good. After my first bite of enchilada I wasn't impressed, beans (which I adore) made me gag. Hungry I forced myself to eat 1 enchilada and half my beans, the "salad" I wanna say was kale 🤢🤢 with a slice of green tomato. My dad said the chicken enchiladas weren't bad, had good seasoning, but the beef enchilada was disgusting. My daughter liked the rice until it was mixed with the beans and not even she liked her enchilada. With feeling I was going to puke, I quickly said let's go went and paid the $47 bill and left. The food ingested didn't wait long to make an appearance. My stomach was upset for the rest of the day. With over 100 Mexican restaurants visited all over Texas and Oklahoma this is in my top Worst 5! 🤮🤮🤮🤮
Food was good, but not happy with the server adding tip to the check after we left. I found out when I checked my bank account, manager Felipe agreed to refund the money and send it back but he never did. We left adequate tip. He had no excuse to do this.
I called in an order on a Sunday evening, and was told that my food would be ready for pick up in 20 minutes. I arrived a little early, but it ended up taking over 35 minutes for my order to come out. I live about 2 miles away and when I got home, my food was turning from room temp to cold. To make matters worse, we found a hair closed in the side of the lid of the to-go box. When I contacted the manager, I got an apology and was told that I could have a refund if I brought the food back. In my opinion, they should have picked up their cold, stale food that had been decorated with La Tequila Jalisco hair themselves, AND REFUNDED MY MONEY. I wasn't about to get back out in the heat, waste my time and gas to take back food that they clearly screwed up. I informed the manager that they had officially lost my business---for good!!
Ordered my food online 2 hours in advanced to be picked up at 530. Got there to find out they had not even looked at or made my dinner!! Mind you I eat here twice a week. So to be completely ignored and the issue not resolved or even offer us free dinner.... they watch us walk out because they were " too busy to do our meal". Who says that??? I eat a salad everytime after dialysis. How hard is it to make a salad?? I am disgusted with how we are treated after our weekly amount is over 100$. I will never go again and if anyone wants a better place I will suggest. PUEBLOS
We've been quite a few times but every time the food is terrible this last time no exception. Husband had the Mexican plate, the 2 cheese enchiladas had no cheese in the tortillas, tacos had some kind of ground meat in it that wasn't beef, it was a mush. The spanish rice had no flavor. Total disappointment. I tried the T-bone, ordered med rare, came out well & was super thin, supposed to be 14 oz. No way. They definitely don't know how to prepare or serve a baked potato. It came under cooked with a glob of mex. Cheese that did not blend with the potato it wasn't meant to be on a baked potato at all. That's all that was on it. No butter or sour cream. I had to ask server for salt & pepper. We've given them enough chances to serve good food & always disappoints. We do like their margaritas, one of the few restaurants in town that serve them. Avoid if you want decent mex. food.
Wanted to try the newly refurbished building to see if the food had improved. IT HAD NOT! Worst mexican food I've ever eaten. I did not drink so I cannot say anything about their bar; but I brought the food home for my dogs but probably won't even given it to them for fear of making them sick. Stick to El Bracero or Alfreados.
If you’re a Latino/hispanic don’t expect to get good service. Even though all the servers are Hispanic, you can tell they worry more about everyone is (not Hispanic) than their own people. Food took long to come out, and food was cold. Our server had 1 table…. Not coming back again.
If you are Latino/ Hispanic driving by don’t expect any good service. Everyone there is Hispanic but will only cater to everyone but their own. Food was cold and slow to come out, server had 1 table….
As a local I have frequently eaten & recommended this eating establishment as a family friendly place to enjoy a meal. We like its close proximity to our home so it extremely convenient. The food is ok but not a scratch kitchen. Evidently this has become more of a sports bar that caters to a rude clientele that are there for the big screens and alcohol. This combination absolutely ruined a family outing when a patron sat at our table right next to my 9 year old grandson. The seating was a bench on one side of the table & chairs on the side for 6 people. This group came in and all 9 attempted to sit on the bench seat, which they did but were at our table. The person that was identified as the MOD said he seated them and apologized. I determined he was not qualified to manage a restaurant and asked for the owners contact information. Then appeared another MOD & tried to explain this was a special day for soccer as that was justification for the rude patrons. This is not a restaurant to enjoy a nice quiet meal with your family or someone special. Very disappointing!
Had rude people there for a soccer game that did not care they were in my 9 year old son’s personal space while trying to eat his dinner. Spoke to 2 different managers and was told, “it was acceptable since there was an important soccer game on!” Asked for the owners phone number and was treated very defensively. We frequent the restaurant but not anymore. Not a family restaurant!!!
I will never order or eat from here again. I ordered fajitas they didn’t give me any tortillas or hot sauce. I ordered guacamole paid eight dollars for it. It wasn’t in the bag when I received it. I called them. They basically called me a liar said they put it in the bag and that I have it. Since they believed I was lying to them they suggested I could come get a free guacamole next time I came there to eat.
I order a chimichanga with barbacoa frequently. I get the same thing everytime. It’s always been good until today. Today I DoorDashed it and they gave me freaking shredded beef- like beef shoulder or something, not cheek meat. When I called the lady said the manager said it was “barbacoa”. Anyone who has eyes and knows what barbacoa looks like VS typical shredded beef cut knows this is not it.
