Great place to go cut up after a day at work. The bartenders are hilarious, crass, and attentive. They will be sure to help you get what you want. Food is alright, as a southernern, wasn't a huge fan of the ribs (gasp, sacrilege). All this considered, I would definitely repeat this place and have a beer or two more with good company.
Delicious food, excellent atmosphere, friendly bartender. A very enjoyable meal. The dining room looks very nice also. Still very enjoyable. Ribs were delicious and my friend enjoyed her scallops very much. Nice atmosphere.
I searched for a local watering hole and found this gem nestled in a public golf facility. It was a really nasty night and I expected to see a slim crowd on a weeknight. Wow was I surprised. I found a seat at the bar and was both served and insulted right away. 😄. I chimed right in and had very nice interactions with locals around the bar. The dining room nearby was quite busy as well. The couple to my right recommended the fish and chips, the bartender recommended the place up the road. The fish and chips we're terrific and all the locals we're enjoying their favorites. If I find myself up that way again, I will definitely return
Always a nice time and great food. Their soups are delicious. The prime rib wrap, the scallops gruyere and the baby back ribs are incredible!
Great food and great people. The buffacue sauce was one of the best wing sauces I've ever had, unique and awesome. Met the owners the night before and are really nice people so we figured we'd visit their place, was very happy we did. Will definitely be back when up on the area again.
Had a lovely dinner with family and friends. Sat in dining room which was great as dual bar/inner dining area was LOUD! Acoustics very poor. Servers were very attentive and personable. Menu great-different than run of the mill eating establishments nearby. Broiled scallops were ordered by 3 of 6 diners. Butter garlic sauce very complementary and we sopped of every drop of goodness. VERY good (we all could have eaten more of them). Prices for all entrees EXTREMELY reasonable. I wouldn't have minded paying a bit more for little bigger portion of scallops. Guest 4 had a salad that was enormous! She ordered a side of fries thst supplemented all diners it was so generous. Guest 5 had huge burger that everyone lusted for. Guest 6 had 6oz sirloin steak that she orders on the regular. Everybody happy. Nice golf course location with patio overlooking greens. I hadn't been here in MANY years bit now it's on my "to go to again" list. Beer, mixed cocktails & wines available had something for everyone. Try it, you'll like it!
My family and I enjoyed a very nice dinner at Otis and Oliver's. We were seated at a COVID-spaced table near the window overlooking the golf course. Our server was very friendly and efficient. Our food, from ribs to tuna to wraps, was prepared correctly and was very tasty. Patrons wore masks and tables were sanitized. We had a very enjoyable experience and will stop back again.
Everything was perfect. I had the Cajun Salmon with double baked potatoes and carrots and my husband had middle well prime ribs with same sides. I had Titos and cranberry. He had IPAs and Black Label. We were completely satisfied. Bartenders and entire staff were great customers were friendly and we engaged in many great conversations. 2nd time there can't wait to go back
I love this restaurant, especially for their specialty, ribs!!! They are amazing! We always bring friends and family here from out of town for their warm and inviting atmosphere and delicious food. Everyone is always impressed. They also have wonderful, wraps, salads, and burgers. The waitstaff are always friendly and make you feel right at home.
Thursday is prime rib night, highly recommend. Able to get a table right away, weather was sketchy so outside was not available. Greeted right away by our server, she took our drink orders and told us the specials. Both the Mrs. and I got soup and prime rib, everything came out perfect. Their twice baked potato has been hard to reproduce at home, there's some magic there. Only reason atmosphere didn't get a 5 is the main dining room is loud. My parents used to enjoy O & O when they'd visit from downstate, my dad particularly liked Bob at the bar. Will be back soon, thank you for another perfect meal.
Friendly staff and amazing food options!!
A great find. Who knew a golf course restaurant could produce food of this quality. Awesome hamburgers, steaks, and famous baby back ribs. Ribs were fall off the bone delicious. Sauce was good, not overly sweet. Cannot recommend the chips(nothing special); pick a different side, like the onion rings. Stacy provided great service. Table of six and everyone left happy.
Went St Patrick’s Day for drinks and their traditional corn beef and cabbage dinner. Seated promptly , drinks served with a smile (Justin), and very little wait for our meals. The corn beef and cabbage along with the traditional sides of yellow potatoes and carrots were cooked to perfection. Probably the best St Patrick’s Day meal we can remember. We both agreed it’s back to Otis and Oliver’s for 2025. And, the drinks are always great!🍀
This place is our favorite hometown place. Everyone seems to know everyone, it is family friendly/kid friendly as well as fun for a couple's night. We have gone for lunch and dinner and have tried everything on the menu. The staff is great, the bartenders are awesome and the owners are amazing people. Our kids love this place as well. The ribs are the best ribs I have had, their soups are homemade based on whatever the chef decides that day. The burgers and wraps are great as well. Not one complaint here! In the summer the have a great deck and in the winter there is a fire going. Go for lunch, dinner, watch a game, meet friends.
Beautiful location. Casual dining nice atmosphere plenty of room inside and outside many tables on the deck with umbrellas. Nice view of the golf course drinks are very good food is excellent. No waiting services is excellent. Extensive menu with great variety to please all. We made a special trip over from Vermont we had a great time will be back again soon.
Your chicken pot pie is absolutely perfect! Tender vegetables, large bite size pieces of tender chicken and sauce/gravy has great flavor with just the right amount of salt. The outside huge, "flaky" pastry covers the whole bowl going over the sides. Can't wait to get it again! 😋
Super delicious! Our party got bugers, fries, and wings. All were amazing! The burgers are tender, juicy and have tons of flavor. The wings were perfect and the fries were SO crispy and fluffy inside! Would abosloutely go again! Atmosphere was very cool, and our waiter was very friendly and attentive!
Best ribs I've had North of Florida!!! Moist. Tender. Great sauce. Highly recommend! Very good chicken wings too! Nice view. Patio. Our waitress was awesome! Not long wait for food and they were very busy. Twice baked potato and beans were above average but nothing really special. Still would get them again. First time I have ever been there. Won't be my last!!!
A very hot day and asked hostess for a to go order of chicken cobb salad, and a raspberry ice tea while i waited. the dining room was very busy but she took my order and said I'll let you know as soon as it is ready. Raspberry tea was excellent, not too sweet and ice cold. I picked up my salad and it was a very large portion enough for 2 and delicious, included lots of black olives, bleu cheese crumbles, bacon, hard boiled egg, etc. and a nice portion of grilled chicken. We love coming to this place.
I am probably a little bit biased because I live right down the road. Order anything and enjoy. They do not slack in the bar, kitchen or on the floor. The wings are great, all the sandwiches are amazing. The salads are fantastic. The prices are where they should be. try out the golf course that they have here and then afterwards get a nice bite to eat. Ample parking. Sometimes there's a bit of a wait but it's worth it. Great beer choices.
great little spot, went in on a Saturday when it was a little busy. they sat me down pretty quick and food was fast. I would recommend the ribs. Great service, spilt my water someone named joey came over to help and also recommended the ribs. defiantly going back to get those ribs
We haven't been there since the fall when we could eat on the deck, which isn't open yet. We ordered our favorite menu items and were not disappointed. Prices were up a little but that's to be expected. It was nice to see Noah our waiter again. He always remembers what we like. Soup of the day, bean and beef was very good.
Whenever we are in the area this is where we eat. We have never had a bad meal. Food is amazing!!! Chicken pot pie is definitely my favorite!!! Also ribs and fish are delicious. A place you must check out!!! ❤️
Really nice Ruben ordered with onion rings, might very well be the best onion rings in capital district. I had a bowl of really nice new England clam chowda, wife was pleased with her French onion soup and it was basically potatoe skins but with potato chunks. She said was delicious
The ribs were very good, especially for the price. The service was great.
I have eaten here on many occasions when visiting my dad, never had a bad experience. Food is always great, comes out quick, and staff is friendly. I highly recommend.
Hearing tablemates is a bit of a challenge in the main dining room. Sound just seems to bounce around the room.
Love this place. We were on a short vacation from Pa and randomly chose this place for lunch. We were not disappointed! The ribs were amazing! I had a burger and fries that was delicious! Fries were hot and crispy! My sister Cobb salad that was so big and delicious! Our favorite thing was having Jason as our server! He was great! friendly and attentive with good suggestions. Highly recommend! By the way its on a golf course!
Delicious food and great service. Interesting menu with lots of choices
A perfect place to grab some great food and enjoy the course.
Always excellent fish & chips here but all their food is good. Definitely recommend a reservation if you go in the summer to eat and all year for dinner on Fri & Sat night because they get busy. Otis & Oliver's is open year round, even when golf season is over. Great service and great food, check it out! Update: today we went back and tried their wings and ribs. Both were excellent. We didn't have a reservation (even though I know better!) But there were only 2 of us so they were able to get us in quickly. The server was busy but attentive and friendly. Ate food in and got a few meals to go and he timed everything perfectly for us so it was fresh when we brought the meals to our parents. There is a bar area and a dining area here and I would say great for a casual meal and they have high chairs and kids food as well. Meals are well priced and everything is always fresh!
This was the first time that I have come here for dinner and it was a great experience. I recommend reservations . we couldn’t believe how crowded it got. We will definitely be going back, especially when the deck opens.
Went on a Monday for dinner. Large party of 8 and didn’t have a reservation. The hostess was fairly rude to us and gave us attitude for not having a reservation even though the restaurant was visibly open. Otherwise, the service from the waiter, bartender, and food runners was amazing. The food was great especially for it being cheaper than most dinner places. Recommend the quesadillas and the scallops, both were great. Got burgers and wraps too and they were solid.
We had a lovely meal on the patio. The Day was perfect. The extra plus for me was one of the employees saw that I was a little stiff walking so gave me a ride down the hill to my car. He said the best part of the day was being able to help others .
Solid everyday eats, good portions great taste and reasonably priced
Great food and atmosphere. The only "problem" was that there were so many appetizing options on the menu.
Fantastic food and service! Our food came out quickly and they have the best ribs that my husband and I have ever had!
Best Prime Rib I’ve had in years! I will be eating at Otis and Oliver’s anytime I’m in the Albany area.
We were a party of four. The service by our waiter Noah was excellent. The food was tops with generous portions. Only problem I had was the restaurant is noisy. However, that wouldn’t stop me from going back again. Highly recommend.
My first time there. Nice place to reconnect with friends at lunchtime. Clean and friendly service.
Had a nice lunch here today. The onion soup & ribs were delicious! My server, Noah did a great job taking care of me. The whole atmosphere here is upbeat & friendly. I’ve been wanting to try this place & I finally stopped by. I’ll definitely be back!
I met my girlfriends at Otis & Oliver’s for dinner and overall had a really nice experience. We each ordered a salad, and everything tasted very fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared. Our waiter was extremely kind, attentive, and made us feel well taken care of throughout the evening. The grounds where the restaurant is located are absolutely beautiful — even in the winter, it’s a lovely setting and adds to the experience. The only downside I noticed was when walking past the bar area, there was a very strong, acrid smell that stood out and was a bit off-putting. It didn’t affect our meal at the table, but it was noticeable. Overall, a pleasant dinner with great service and fresh food in a beautiful location, with just a small area for improvement.
Good food and great service. There were 11 of us so there was a variety of food ordered. Everything came out fast, hot and delicious. We really enjoyed our time out at Otis and Oliver's and we'll be back!
Have been coming here for almost 10 years now and I don’t think I have ever had a bad meal. Usually get a Reuben, Cobb salad, or a burger and they are always good. Their wings are great as well! Just tried their ribs for the first time and was very pleasantly surprised how delicious and tender they were (although I probably shouldn’t have been surprised given how well they do with everything else). It gets very busy for lunch and dinner, but if you beat those rushes, usually no problem getting in. The bar is great and does also get very busy later in the day. I feel it’s one of the best places around for a reasonably-priced, good meal without sacrificing anything - we always comment on how affordable it is for the quality of food, and we keep coming back. Local staple
This place is amazing. The food, the service, the wait staff. Cannot say enough. We had starving children lol and they made sure to get them food right away!!!
Read some mixed reviews but was very close to where we wanted to be and had some appealing offerings. Was not disappointed. From the hostess to the servers, everyone was amazing! Friendly and efficient despite being busy. Really clean with nice decor. The food was really fresh and good but still fast. I would highly recommend.
We went in on Sunday evening and it was very busy. Luckily we could take a table but you may need to make a reservation for weekends. My husband got a burger, his mother a fried haddock and veggies from the specials, and l got chipotle chicken wrap with deli salad. The food was all good 👍 l like their menu too. We'll definitely go back.
I had a great meal at Otis and Oliver’s. I highly recommend getting the spare ribs or the chicken pot pie (which is seasonal). I normally wouldn’t get ribs but was convinced by the waiter and he was definitely right! I’m exited to come back and sit out on the patio when the weather gets nicer!
This was my first time here and I'm impressed with the food, service and decor. I had the French onion soup and the Reuben with sweet potato fries. Everything was delicious. The corned beef in the Reuben was so tender, which is rare to get it perfect like that. The lady serving us was kind, patient and very attentive. I'm sure we'll be back time and time again. Thank you!
Was in the mood for a different atmosphere. Decided to check out a restaurant at a golf course and it didn't disappoint. Portions were generous. I ordered a Gobbler sandwich, which was delicious. The layer of stuffing inside sold me. Stacey, my server, was very friendly and accommodating.
First time here, bar is large and very busy... We got seats at the bar and ordered the pub ribs and the hubby got the Andy wrap he said it was very good. For the price of the pub ribs $12.99 and amount it will Def be on my radar! Top it off with ribs being delicious yea I'll be back. The bartender wasn't super pleasant/ friendly.... But it looked like maybe she was having a bad day. 🤷🏻♀️ But she got everything in and out quick so that works for me. It's right on a golf course kinda hidden.
My husband and I have enjoyed this place on several occasions. The food is always great and the service is attentive. Most recently I had the Scallops Gruyere and my husband had a steak salad, both were great. One disappointment is the vegetable: always zucchini and red pepper. Not great tasting or terribly exciting. We will be coming back without a doubt.
I waited about 5 minutes to be seated on this Wednesday at 12:40pm. The restaurant was busy. The Tuscan chicken sandwich fresh and large. I ordered Mac salad as my side, that was tasty. My companion had French onion soup that was enjoyable Fresh ice tea was great. Lots of parking.
Was there on a Thursday night. Cozy place. Popular, especially the tap room. Very friendly staff. Clean. Comfortable, plenty of space. Attractive environment. Adequate menu, good selections: sandwich plates-to-entrees. Reasonable prices. Good parking. Pleasant place on a golf course.
Had to wait a bit for seating but was worth the wait. Chicken Ceasars salad was fantastic. Wife had a bacon cheese burger which was done to perfection. Waitress was rather slow but overall I will be back to try something else on the menu. Food, restaurant excellent. Waitress Service, not so good .
We had lunch here after a round of golf at their Mill Road Acres course on Sun5/01/22. We sat in the bar area. Their outdoor deck are was closed this day. But all good where we had lunch. Server #14 brought menus and took our drink orders. Bloody Marys (2 @ $8.50ea.) were spicy & excellent, two bottled beers ($6.ea.), & a wine ($8.). Lunch was served in 20 minutes- cold orders were cold & hot orders were hot. My bride had the TUSCAN CHICKEN 12.99 grilled chicken topped with sautéed spinach, roasted red peppers, and fresh mozzarella cheese on a kaiser roll. Sister had a tuna salad platter ($12) & her friend had a bacon cheeseburger w/ onion rings ($15). I had a bowl of their house specialty CARIBBEAN WHITE CHILI 5.99 white beans, chicken, sausage, bacon, a hint of jerk seasoning, and topped with cajun cornbread crumble. Unique & excellent. Their house specialty are the very popular pork spare ribs. Many combo options from $25-$30. All orders come w/ your choice of two sides. There is also the pub rib appetizer w/ choice of 3 sides ($13). Fall off the bone tender w/ a good balance of spicy, smokey, & sweet. Extra napkins required. A nice friendly casual place for just drinks, lunch or dinner. Hours: Mon–Sat 11:30–9, Sun 12–8. Reservations recommended Fri, Sat, & Sun. especially for seating on their deck. We have been here many times with family & friends. Service & food are consistently very good. We'll see you again soon. Thank you. Nick & Liz, Albany, NY
My brother and I stopped by the rest of for dinner. The restaurant overlooks the golf course and has free parking. We started with the baby back ribs as an appetizer and they were very good. Later we both had salad and salmon. The fish was good as well. I rated this a 4 as the person that sat us down was not friendly at all. This set the tone for the meal, hence the rating.
Stopped here while in Albany on business. The ribs were phenomenal as others had indicated in earlier reviews. Being this late in the year, and at night, I wasn't able to enjoy the golf course views. I would return during my next stay.
This was my first time at this restaurant! We had heard about it from a random couple we met months ago, so we decided to give it a try. Everyone was so friendly and the food was fantastic! I ordered a half rack of ribs with onion rings and coleslaw. The ribs just melted off the bone. So tender and flavorful. My friend ordered a steak with a couple sides. The steak was quite small when she set the plate on the table and it made us giggle. But, he said that with the sides it was just enough. We had a great time and great food. Will go back!
Good food and good waitress. Highly recommend the black and blue burger and the buffalo chicken wrap. The downside is they are always “booked” with several open tables. I saw it first hand tonight. Reservations for 6:45pm and 10 empty tables but the smug host in the orange shirt couldn’t be bothered to seat us until 6:45 on the dot. Once seated I continued to observe the hosts behavior and he never smiled or seemed to welcome any guests that walked through the door. Not welcoming to guests nor motivated to seat folk’s spending their money on Otis’ food. Waitress and other staff are exceptional.
They hosted my mother's 70th birthday. I was very pleased with the service and food. The only thing that could have been better was the placement of the party right near the front door and the door to the kitchen causing some traffic issues. This was avoidable but only a minor problem so I highly recommend Otis and Oliver's for casual dining and parties with the family. Try the ribs!
We ordered take out. I was very pleased. The food was excellent. Salad pltions could have been a little larger. The overall portions of the other entrees were pleasing. The ribs were great! I compared my portions to my costs and overall satisfaction and concluded, I would eat there again in a heartbeat
Very good burgers but the wings that I ordered missed the mark. I wouldn't order those again. In my opinion, they weren't cooked enough and there wasn't enough sauce which left them lacking in flavor. The burger on the other hand was charbroiled and cooked to my liking. I really enjoyed it. The server was very sweet and attentive. I'll definitely go again.
A semi hidden gem for Colonie/ Latham area. Have visited twice: dinner and lunch. Food is tasty, portions plentiful. Ordered Turkey club. Huge!! Brought 1/2 home. The only reason for a 4 on service was our waiter was perspiring so much, he was dripping on his order pad and a bit distracting. He did check on us twice. Lunch was insanely busy. Would definitely return again!
Decided to come here for lunch based off my Mom's recommendation. A hidden building with a huge parking lot set on a golf course with a cozy, relaxing atmosphere. Menu has a wide variety with a beer and wine list. I purposely didn't attach photos of the food because I'd rather anyone who is reading and hasn't been there see for themselves the HUGE portions of food that are brought out of the kitchen. I ordered the fish and chips and couldn't believe the size of the filet that hit the table. The chips were hand cut and tasted like warm Ruffles. For an appetizer, we had Scallops Gruyere which came out hot cheesy and delicious. There was a bit of a wait for the food but well worth it! Huge servings, hot, fresh, and delicious. Will definitely return.
Went last night(Friday) with my wife for date night at 4:45 pm. Restaurant area was empty, bar area busy. Was seated. So far all as expected. The eating area in the back is nice nothing fancy very casual. My wife ordered a cup of N.E.Clam chowder and the steak sandwich. (I wish I did ask well). Waiter looked kind of confused but he was ok. Her meals were absolutely FANTASTIC. Fairly priced and again outstanding. I ordered the Chicken wings. Scorched flavor level. (I love them ridiculously hot). They were large and cooked perfectly. The sauce was less than "Scorched " but wow they were and mind you I am a total wing snob, quite possibly the BEST wings I have ever eaten. Plenty of carrots and celery and real blue cheese to dip. Onto my main, a cheeseburger. Ordered med rare. Easy enough. Burger was slightly pink and lacked any flavor. I only ate half. It wasn't good at all. Again the other 3 dishes were absolutely spot on! Will definitely be back just won't be ordering the cheeseburger. With tax and beverage it was $47.00. By yhe time we finished and left the dinning room was now over half full. Place to be.
I live in Catskill and my cousins little is and Schenectady him and his wife took me to this place for the first time and I'm going to tell you what a nice place Pleasant people clean and good delicious food and I will go back and I recommend anybody in the area do stop by you won't be disappointed
Delicious food and the service was good once we were greeted. The server did not realize we were sat in her section, waited about 25 minutes while other tables were greeted right away.
Had French onion soup... very good.not salty like some places.lots of onions too! Had the ribs from the appetizer section and they were good. Just enough sauce for flavor but not messy to eat.i took one star away only because of the noise level, but it the nature of the beast....one big room with lots of hard surfaces. Not bad enough that I wouldn't come back, but just be forewarned.
My childhood friend and I came for lunch today. We had a great time and food, atmosphere, service were all great. I highly recommend this restaurant 👌
First time at this establishment was underwhelming. It took a while to be greeted by our rather unenthusiastic server. The food was just average at best. I have heard good things about this establishment from others, but I can’t honestly say it was very good.
Hostess was definitely not a people person. Considering a hostess is the first face we see, you would hope they would be friendly and welcoming. Was rude about bringing a booster seat when we asked. I want to note before I continue, we were legitimately the ONLY people in the restaurant at 3:00 on a Monday. Our waiter came to take our drink order, returned promptly. Came back about 10 minutes later to take our food order. I had a question about my order and he was not friendly in his response. Our food came, it was mediocre. I got a Reuben, my husband a burger, and our son a grilled cheese. Fries were good, probably the best part of the meal. Our waiter did not return to ask how our food was, if we needed anything, etc. the next time we saw him was to give us the check. The nicest person we encountered was a girl rolling silverware on our way out. I’ve been to worse places, but I had higher expectations for here considering other reviews. I would probably not eat here again and would not personally recommend.
This isn't a bad place to meet for a drink but if you plan to have a meal you really need a reservation. We decided kind of last minute to go here for dinner on a Thursday, and it was busy but not packed. There were 3 in my party. I did see a number of tables empty the entire time I was there, but they only had availability at the bar. We agreed and sat at the bar. The bartender was nice but took bout 10 mins before asked what we wanted to drink and no offer or ask about menus. The bar is very loud and hard to hold a conversation. Not great from dinner unless you have a reservation but definitely great place to grab a drink.
French onion soup was decent, the chicken quesadilla was gross. The chicken was rubbery and fatty when I bit into it, the shell was over done. Took it home but just threw it out. No one was really thrilled with their food.
Waiter was all over the place and not very accurate in anything. Ordered a turkey club.. asked if the turkey was roasted in house. Was told yes...it wasn't. You can definitely tell from the yellowish "band" around it that it was Boarshead... which would have been fine but I was told otherwise. The bacon on it was raw.. like..raw... took it all home to the dog.. he had no complaints. The party I was with wasn't very happy either. Burger was a frozen patty....chili was extremely small.. came with nothing.. no bread.. crackers.. nothing. Haddock looked greasy and came with nothing with the dinner.. no slaw...no bread basket...we'd heard good things. Highly disappointed. Unfortunately we went be back.
Place is too loud!!! We returned after having a decent experience and did not have have a repeat experience. The clam chowder that was , in the past was so good and full of clams, was the bottom of the pot- not many clams. My turkey sandwich was not roasted turkey- more like some deli sliced tasteless- the dressing was a few small pieces of left over croutons. I had asked for a toasted tuna- don’t have!!! My wife had the scallops- maybe- broiled! - more like boiled in butter and a twice baked potato that was baked once too often. Won’t be returning.
My friend and I came here for lunch this week. We both ordered wrap sandwiches that were unfairly small, I chose the chipotle “chicken” wrap , which should’ve been labeled chipotle “lettuce” wrap because it was mostly stuffed with lettuce with a tiny strip of bacon…. and very little chicken. The side of coleslaw was not much better. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and the outdoor deck is beautiful. However, we expected decent pub sandwiches, at $12 a pop. What they serve is not what is described on the menu, in our case. The service was excellent - though our sandwiches and sides were poor. Not right.
It has been good in the past. Tonight’s take out was probably the last time for us. We tried to order a chicken quesadilla with jalapeños and were told they can’t make a “special order” quesadilla. So what we got was a tortilla, cheese and chicken. No onions, no peppers, it was literally just chicken. The corned beef in the Reuben was inedible. He was unable to bite through the meat, it was that tough. It’s one thing to serve mediocre or bad food, it’s another thing to add in poor customer service with rules that make no sense .
Saw some great reviews, so we decided to try this place for dinner. When entering we were asked if we had reservations, normal question, we did not. The host seemed pissed off and after perusing his floor plan, turned to a hostess and told her to squeeze us in at table whatever. We were led into a half empty dinning room, that only got emptier as the night went on. Waitress was good, friendly and helpful. Room is nice with a view over the golf course. Food was really mixed. Warm bread with compound butter was a nice touch. House salad was fresh, with a nice dressing. But, easily the worst scallops I've ever had. Undercooked with no flavor. I should have listened to my gut and gone with a burger or something, but when the table next to us had salmon delivered that looked fantastic, I caved. Never again.
I am retracting my earlier review. The food is subpar now and i was told 30mins for take out. Turned into over 50 mins. The people taking orders over the phone dont even know the menu. Thr manager or owner (I wasn't gonna ask) kept increasing the time for take out. Room is full of open tables but they said 40 mins for a table. The service is horrible which is why I only do take out. Over $100 for mediocre food. I've made my last take out order and I will never come back. Bad service with bad attitudes.
I was at Mill Road the other day and saw something crazy. A group of golfers were having a good time until one of them turned a bit too fast in the parking lot. Suddenly, the restaurant owner stormed out, got in the driver's face, and started yelling and swearing. It was way over the top for a small mistake. Then a guy from the driving range, who said he was a regular, came over and started threatening them with a golf club. Watching all this was really unsettling. The owner and the regular were way out of line and made the place feel unsafe. I wouldn't want to go back there after seeing that.
Don't order the crab stuffed fish. The cook should be retrained. Thinest filet I've ever been served with a two ounce portion of what they're calling crab stuffing. The stuffing tasted like breadcrumb pate!
Service is unexpectable. Called to make a 5 o'clock reservation on a Sunday and we were told they could only do 4, ok no problem. We waited for 20 minutes before anyone came over to even say hello to us. Meanwhile someone sat next to us and she said I'll be right over. They wouldn't even make eye contact with us. We were there for an hour and a half and all we ate were burgers. Not a three course meal we had a burger. The place was nearly empty they had three wait staff and five tables. Do you really need one person to set up the tables and another hostess to seat you, and another girl standing there doing nothing and three waiters? If you had more wait staff and less people standing there we wouldn't have to wait 20 minutes before even being acknowledged. We shouldn't have to flag someone down every time. Unacceptable, we'll just go anywhere else.
I was recently here with a group of 3 and we were beyond excited to try the food since the restaurant seems to have raving reviews. Boy could Google not have misled us any more than it did. This place is a JOKE! First let's start with the service. The host who greeted us was miserable and clearly didn't want to be there. I get it, work isn't always glorious, but you don't have to be uninviting and off-putting. Our server was seemingly just as incoherent since we had to ask multiple times for condiments, which she kept forgetting or saying "Oh, you wanted that?" Yes I wanted ketchup for my COLD, SAD FOOD! Now for the food... We ordered 3 sandwiches and a togo order, which was another sandwich. 3 of the 4 sandwiches were ordered with salads, and it STILL took nearly 30-40 minutes to receive our food. When it finally made it to us, the food wasn't even hot. Our sandwiches were barely room temperature, our salads were wilting and had some slimy leaves in them, and our sweet potato fries were COLD. I don't mean that they weren't as warm as we'd like, I mean they were literally cold, like they'd been sitting for quite some time. Our sandwich orders consisted of two pulled pork sandwiches, a Reuben, and a "steak" sandwich. The pulled pork looked like it was slathered in barbecue sauce, and get it tastes like some type of shredded wild game. No sweet, tangy barbecue flavor at all. Just the off flavor of pork that might as well have sat in the sun before it got processed and cooked. The steak sandwich was supposed to contain sliced prime rib, but let me tell you... Whatever meat they used, it was cheaper than the steak at subway. Tasted like the cheapest, dryest philly cheese steak you'd ever order. Oh, and the sides that each entree comes with are not actually included. You WILL be up charged for any side you choose, including salads... And hey, don't forget the dollar upcharge for corned beef when you order a Reuben, because it's extra to get... What you ordered? Overall, this place was incredibly disappointing and we won't be eating here again. I imagine there used to be a reason to go here, but after what we experienced today, it seems not a single soul employed there cared to provide decent service or food. Beware if you're looking to eat here, you won't leave satisfied.
Why does the menu say a dish comes with 1 side, but then you charge extra for it? I've seen other reviews ask exactly the same thing. Tricking people into an upcharge. Ribs are not a big portion for the price and taste like nothing but sweetness. Based on he mostly positive reviews we were expecting great food. Everything ranged from Bad to OK.
Well, started our experience off with being greeted by a miserable face. Which we initially let go, people have bad days. We get that. We were seated quickly, it wasn't very busy. It took a few minutes for our server to come over, who also looked miserable. We got our drinks in a timely manner. Put our food order in after that. The soup came out quick, and quite honestly was the best and only great thing to eat. The spud bites followed shortly after. They were okay, but dry. We then waited about 20-30 minutes for our hot sandwiches.... All were disappointing. My husband got a soggy fatty reuben. Along with some cold sweet potato fries. My brother in law, a sad looking steak sandwich. It had little meat and even less horseradish mayo. My pulled pork sandwich did have a lot of meat on it, however it wasn't very flavorful. Was gamey and tasted very porky. I thought maybe some extra bbq sauce would help but my server was no where to be found. I eventually got my bbq sauce at the end of the meal with the check. Didn't even get to eat my sandwich. I had to bring it home to fix it up a bit.... So we have the check, and notice a few things. First off, you're being charged for the sides when at the top of the page on the menu it says "all served with one side". And the second thing was, the reuben sandwich was $14.99, then a $1.00 charge for corned beef... which is what the sandwich is. When my husband asked about it, they said it was an upcharge that they had for something they did on St Patrick's day and that it was a mistake. The system automatically does it. So they've been charging an extra dollar since St Patrick's day... We then ended the meal looking at an unhappy face on our waitress and that really solidified our not so great experience. And if that didn't, the walk out sure did. We were walking down the path towards the parking lot and almost got hit by a gentleman who was on a tractor 🚜 backing up into us. Didn't even notice. So I would unfortunately not recommend Otis and Oliver's. It was a nice looking place surrounded by a golf course. The food was disappointing, and the service was upsetting. I will say the potato and bacon soup was very good. So get soup if you do go.
