A small rustic restaurant with plants and a distinct homey aesthetic with many helpful and personable seevers. The menu is small but unique. Lots of interesting combinations of food that tasted absolutely amazing. We got 3 appetizers and an entree so we could try as many foods as possible and all of them were amazing. The flavors are deep and complex, while still being well balanced. The flavors truly dance in your mouth. My favorite was the chocolate pudding at the end. The pudding and cream on top was amazing but the real kicker was this deep smokey flavor they added to the nuts that really elevated the dish. Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to try something new.
We had a phenomenal experience at Range Life this Friday. My partner and I went for our 8 year anniversary. The atmosphere was very pleasant, not too loud or quiet. The food was excellent; we had several snacks and appetizers along with our entrees. All were delicious, and several had interesting flavor combinations. Above all, the service was incredible. My partner, who is not that interested in fine dining experiences, said "I wish we could give them 6/5 stars for service." They seated us promptly, timed our plating almost perfectly, and checked in several times. In addition, they wished us happy anniversary upon arrival, provided a complementary toast, and the menus had " happy anniversary" printed at the top. It was so special, and we really appreciated these touches. Overall, a great experience, and we look forward to returning!
We came to celebrate birthday. The food was so fresh. The chicken is very tender and halibut is very flavorful. The setting is calm and natural.
The food was so awesome! They have a slightly different menu all the time depending on what is available locally which makes it so good! Service here was wonderful! Our server, Laura, described the options so well it made us want to try all the snacks and appetizers. And oh boy! were they freaking good!!! They even helped us celebrate my birthday and our anniversary! I wish I could give six stars!!!! Will be back soon!!!!!!
What an awesome atmosphere and experience, topped off with excellent food. The menu is diverse and interesting and we couldn't help but order about half of it. The crudo was incredible and I am still thinking about pairing strawberries and fish. The duck was incredible and every dessert was absolutely out of this world. I believe they mentioned the menu changes often so I'm already looking forward to a new experience next time
You better make reservations! We came Monday evening for dinner and got lucky with table. This place will blow your taste buds up! It is all about flavors! We had pasta and fish as entrees, the best fish I ever ate! The desert was fluffy, light, not too sweet, just the right amount of sugar and wiped cream. It was so good that I forgot to take a picture 🤣Great server!
Our 2nd time for dinner here. I had the flank steak prime grade. Flavorful! Red wine reduced with a variety of mushroons. Minced! So did not stand out for me. But Yukon mash was very rich. Sliced tomatoes made it more runny. Definitely, needed some roasted vegetables like asparagus. To get a bit of variety crunch on the dish. Did not use the herbed butter. Too rich!!!! The other chicken was pan roasted. And finished with light sautéed veggies broth and white beans. It was okay. No parking accessible for physically impaired. Definitely you will need reservations to get a table. Other table option was outside dinning on plastic table and chairs. Bar seating available for no reservation. We walked in on an early Thursday night. Fully booked for regular tables.
Great food, fresh ingredients, very creative flavors and vibrant atmosphere. The milk honey dessert is a must try !
This place is always absolutely amazing the food is always so fresh and delicious made of organic ingredients from local farms and markets. The wine beer and cocktails are also refreshing and delightful. Staff and servers are so friendly and knowledgeable also very welcoming, they never make you feel like they have the power to judge you and sit you know a crappy spot. We have been here a handful of times, busy, a little quiet and crazy insane no space because the food as mentioned is great. You can come here if you’re able to make reservations and you’ll love it every time.
one of the best restaurants in the area. the menu is always rotating and has limited options but everything is chef curated so bound to be good. the non alcoholic drinks are little overpriced but good. our server was a bit too enthusiastic to the point where we could tell it was fake and made us uncomfortable but was friendly. the salad was 10/10 w the roasted eggplant and the dessert was also very good and low in sugar perfect for us. the chicken could’ve been less salty but still prepared really well. the vibes in the restaurant were really good and employees seemed to get along really well.
Cute little place in Livermore with serves farm to table. The food is absolutely amazing complemented with the ambience.
We had the most amazing anniversary meal! Each course was outstanding, but especially the pork chop with cherries and Cesar salad. The staff was lovely, including the bartender, hostess, and bus person. Our food server, Shawnie (sp?) helped us with our food selections and wine choices and was always friendly. Her extensive knowledge of the menu and wine was greatly appreciated. We can't wait to come back and bring friends to this wonderful Livermore restaurant! Plan ahead because reservations do get full every day for good reason!
I have been to Range life countless times, and every single time it has been on point! Food is delicious, craveable, interesting and above all, clearly very well sourced. The cocktails, wine and beer pair so well with everything. Every time I come it's hard to not order the entire menu. The service is great and the vibes are perfect. At this point Range Life is an institution in Livermore. Definitely one of my favorite Bay area restaurants and worth the trek from SF or Oakland for sure.
Everything about this restaurant is amazing. The food was phenomenal (highly recommend the bone-in pork chop if it's on the menu). Halibut was also very tasty! Wife and I went for our wedding anniversary (left a comment on the reservation) and they surprised us with a congrats glass of tasty champagne and "Happy Anniversary " on the paper menus. The beer and cocktails are good, pretty much what you get at any nice place. Our server Laura was amazing. I have a real goofy personality and constantly embarrass my wife but Laura ran with it and had fun with us. She was very nice, on top of things, and accommodating. Oh, get the deep fried cabbage and pepper appetizer. So damn tasty with their homemade dipping sauce. The ambiance of the restaurant is great too. Nice chill vibes where you can still be yourself. I highly recommend this place! It is pricey but know you are getting top quality food sourced locally by the chef, great service, and a great overall experience.
Introduction: Range Life, located in Livermore, California, is a charming restaurant with a unique dining experience, a welcoming atmosphere, and exceptional service. I've visited twice, most recently for my fiancé's birthday, and each visit has been memorable. ---- Atmosphere:---- Outside: From the outside, Range Life doesn't immediately stand out as a restaurant and may even look a bit unassuming. However, once inside, the environment is calm and inviting. Inside: The interior has an old-style, simple aesthetic with wooden structures and an open layout where you can see the bar and the kitchen at the back. The dining area is cozy and accommodates many guests despite its smaller size. The lighting is low and warm, with yellowish tones that make the space comfortable and inviting. Each table is adorned with one or two lit candles, adding to the cozy ambiance. ---- Food Quality:---- Steak for Two: We had the steak for two, a bone-in ribeye about 24 to 30 ounces. It was cooked to medium-rare perfection, juicy, flavorful, and had the distinct taste of dry aging. The steak was comparable to those from high-end steakhouses. Appetizers: We tried the full salad, which was fresh, green, and fluffy with high-quality ingredients. The cheese and breadcrumbs added a delightful touch. Another appetizer, possibly called "Bean Mountain," consisted of exceptional lightly fried beans. Drinks: We had two of their specialty drinks, which were well-crafted with the perfect balance of juices and spirits, enhancing the overall dining experience. Dessert: We had the Milk and Honey for dessert, which was amazing. It featured chunks of honey-crusted bonbons with light vanilla ice cream, all drizzled with more honey. --- Service:--- The service at Range Life is extraordinary and comparable to high-end restaurants. The staff is knowledgeable about the menu, attentive, and provides timely check-ins. Our server was attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed throughout the meal. --- Service Dog Accommodation:--- Range Life is very accommodating for service animals. They seated us at a table where my service animal could comfortably stay underneath, as instructed. The staff was respectful and treated us no differently, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. --- Value for Money:--- While Range Life is pricier, the overall experience, including the exceptional service, warm atmosphere, and high-quality food, makes it worth every penny. The seasonal menu items ensure that each visit offers something new and delightful. --- Overall Experience:--- I recommend Range Life to anyone looking for a top-notch dining experience in Livermore. The combination of excellent food, outstanding service, and a cozy atmosphere makes it a fantastic choice for special occasions or a lovely night out. I plan to visit more frequently to explore other menu items.

Food, service, and ambiance were all top tier and amazing. Of course it was pricey, but the taste was good. The pork chop and steak were over the top, and the dessert was godly.
Chic modern restaurant. Good bites and drinks. We dined indoors for early dinner. Reservations were done online before visiting. Everything we ordered was tasty. Drinks had great flavor and were strong, definitely not watered down. Simple yet stunning decor both in the dining area and bathroom.staff were all very attentive and friendly only wish they offered earlier brunch.
Like always, this is just my impression of my visits to this restaurant, I cannot guarantee that your experience may differ from my but I hope to give a good idea to what to expect. So first of all the place small but not small to be uncomfortable, the seats were comfortable and the was clean and well maintained. We got there without reservation, and we were seated right away, keep in mind that we were there early and I noticed the place getting crowded as it was getting late. The service was on point, it seems that everyone is willing to take care of you as they pass by, which makes it but better experience for those visiting. The food was great, and I like that you can see how the chef makes sure all places are served to his standards. I liked to see how the kitchen interacted with each other. I work in a hospital setting and I like how the use standard to make sure all meals come out the same without losing the quality that we were looking for. Couple of things to keep in mind, parking was easy to find, but remember I was there little earlier than most. They have adopted a more European approach to drinks, which means no refills on soft drinks, not sure if that’s a good thing or bad thing but it is good to know. I don’t drink but my wife was happy with the wine selection and tried the martini that comes with coffee, I believe is called expresó martini, and she loved it. I recommend this place, it is a good experience overall, I really cannot say anything bad based on my visit. Thank you for taking the time to read my review. And hope I will see you around.
Always love coming here, food is fresh and the menu changes! Milk and honey dessert is a must, yes I started with that. Food: steak always cooked perfectly Moutabal delish i think would have been better served as a dip and not a bowl with everything in it, made it hard to eat as a shared appetizer (eggplant pumpkin and tahini) Broccolini: black trumpets, pumpkin seed, rye and lemon Chicken: moist and good serving size Other desserts: chocolate mousse was perfect not too sweet. Apple crumble: warm and comforting again not too sweet. They are on point with dessert Kudos to the chef!

This a very mediocre restaurant but tries to be avant- guard of culinary traditions. The food is super simple yet uses fancy words to make it sound exotic. The best dishes were the Brussel sprouts , the squash tempura and the seashell pasta with Lam Raghu. I honestly have to use ChatGPT to get an English translation. I want to find out that they're all very ordinary dishes, but highly overpriced. The menu is confusing because you have snacks and then you have appetizers and then the main dish. I'm not sure why call appetizers snack snacks. The drinks were good, but it was really annoying that the water they were serving was lukewarm, and I believe it was intentionally served that way to force you to order drinks and every time I ask for ice, the waitress would lose her smile as if we were asking for the world.
My wife and I recently dined at Range Life and unfortunately, our experience fell short of the expectations given the price range of the place and its Bib gourmand award. While some dishes were decent, others left something to be desired. The first appetizer, the feral heart snow peas & Korean radish, was disappointing and not worth the price as the flavors did not complement each other. The second appetizer, the beef tartare, was not bad, but the fried shallots overpowered the tartare. The entrées, the gusanito beans and roasted chicken, were decent, but with no new or interesting tastes and pairings. Additionally, the chicken portion was enormous and may have impacted our dining experience. The dessert, milk and honey ice cream with honeycomb, was fantastic, but unfortunately, the honeycomb was burned. When we informed the server, she replied that it was intentional, but in my experience, honeycomb doesn‘t have to taste like this. Compared to other restaurants with the Bib Gourmand award, Range Life falls behind. During our visit, we noticed areas where the staff could improve to enhance the overall guest experience. Implementing a unified dress code would create a more professional atmosphere; clearer and louder communication at the table would be beneficial; staff could be knowledgeable about the wine list to make recommendations based on guests' preferences, and ensure no cork residue is left after serving wine by the glass. In the end it felt odd to have the bill placed on our table without any acknowledgment. A simple inquiry about further dining or drink options would have made us feel more valued as customers. Edit: Add one star to the review if you set the expectations right. In the end, it is one of the nicest places with decent food around Livermore after all.

Cozy ambiance. Very good server. Food was innovative and some dishes were great like the focaccia and the eggplant appetizer. However many dishes fell short like the Kampachi. It was a tiny piece of flavorless to fish. Also how can you mess up a salad? But the Napa cabbage salad was worst salad I've ever had. Our table of 4 left it untouched. One bite and despite being hungry no one wanted it. The milanese was good and so was the steak. Not amazing just good but for the price, this place does not deliver.
We had great expectations coming to this restaurant considering it is rated Michelin Bib Gourmand. I ordered the highly-rated flank steak but was highly disappointed. The meat came with tendons and it was like chewing flavorless rubber. It was even hard to cut with the serrated steak knife. The mashed potato was good though. My partner ordered the sea bass, which was better but not without its flaw. One half tasted fine but the other half was overly salty. Overall, I won't recommend this place. The steak was almost un-edible. I had much better steaks at half the price.
