Went for the first time last night and I'm glad I did. Ordered the Western Bacon, well done, no cheese, with a side of onion rings, and a glass of sauv blanc. I'm not sure what label the wine was but it arrived cold. It had a mild flavor profile, hints of citrus under the grapes. Whatever it was, it was delicious. The food arrived as ordered. For well done, the burger was juicy and seasoned just enough to pull together all the flavors between the bun: lettuce, tomato, onion, bbq sauce, and onion rings. The side of onion rings were crunchy with a hint of salt. Thank you, whoever concocted the batter for the onion rings. I like that the batter didn't detract from the onion itself. It was full house, people waiting at the door when I left. Staff is friendly and efficient. Space can be a little tight in some parts of the dining room but there was still adequate spacing throughout. Would definitely recommend and I plan on going again, probably to order to something different.
Another great restaurant in Livermore! Whoever is cooking knows what they are doing. I highly recommend the burgers and the reuben is amazing. Good cocktails as well.
It's been awhile since I had a really good burger. All American medium was my choice. Beer selection is very good too.
The food, drinks and service were amazing! I'd recommend this place to everyone who loves great food service and people! 10/10!
Very very very good food. This place has deep fried linguica! Nobody ever told me that that existed. And I've been missing out all this time. You got to try the appetizers for sure. Burgers was great shrimp cocktail was fabulous! And beers were cold. Our server, Heather, was a bright and shining star. She found me outside waiting for her my other parties and directed me indoors to the most perfect table for us. She did her job well and was very friendly. We appreciated her very much. Good food good service good prices. Can't beat it.
Great bloody Mary's, and great selection of mimosas and other drinks. Nothing we have ordered has disappointed. Sitting on the patio is nice but inside they have a bunch of historical items and photos, so I would suggest sitting inside at least once. The staff here is also amazing.
Great food and very nice staff. It's kind of like an old school hang out. I will be going again very soon.
The Riata is a great place. Snuggled into downtown livermore this place has great food and atmosphere from the biscuits and gravy, homemade corned beef and hash, or there famous country fried steak and eggs. Don't forget to try one of their Breakfast shots!!!!
Went there for lunch, great food, fresh salad and delicious grilled steak sandwich. The service was excellent too.
This is my #1 favorite in Livermore!! My family are Sunday morning regulars, and I always tag along when I visit!! From their delicious "Breakfast Shot" to their famous Bloody Mary Mix, they have a full bar to satisfy any of your thirsty cravings😉. You must try their Pozole!! It is honestly my favorite in the East Bay area. Their other rotating breakfast specials are also loved by the family including the pancakes. I know its going to sound cheesy but you really can't go wrong when you choose Riata 💜 p.s. ALL of their staff is AMAZING. I'm not sure what Ms. Kristine was going through, but I personally think she was having a very bad day. Sam always provides amazing customer service, as do all of the employees!!
Such a Great Place To Have a Beer and a Nice Dinner! Our Server was fantastic and the food was exceptional! Didn’t hurt that the waitress also had the best smile I’ve seen in town! Must stop for anyone living or coming through Livermore
The Riata is just a warm, friendly place. The staff is wonderful and the food is great. A couple must haves:. Taco Tuesday is absolutely phenomenal. If you get there early enough you can snag up their pork belly tacos before they run out, but if they're out, the dollar tacos do not disappoint, nor do the nachos. The breakfast shot is a delight. It's something I take any visiting family/friends out to have. The fried chicken dinner is also fantastic. All in all, it's a place my wife and I both love and will continue to go to.
Update: ate there about a month ago. Steak was great. They worked with me on the carbs. Atmosphere was great. Definitely an improvement and I look forward to going back. Yum. Went there for the chicken fried steak. Dry, over cooked and gravy was "ok". I have been going there for years. Waitress gets 5 stars. She took it back. The re-do was ok. Not as over cooked but disappointing in flavor. And I got charged extra for gravy that was used on the first dry piece. Very disappointing. There are other restaurants in Livermore that make a good chicken fried steak. I won't be back.
Wow!!! Im 100% going back the food was AMAZING!! We got the appetizer sampler tray and dessert and it still only ended up being like 80 bucks!! Really good prices for the food in my opinion! I recommend the Alfredo (huge portion size imo) and the onion rings and potato skins(!!) this place is amazing! I dont eat out much but I WILL be back! Yum!
I loved this place! it's a very interesting western looking place. I ordered a Western hamburger w BBQ sauce 🍔🍔🍔😁😁 with a side salad with vinaigrette WOW! Super yom. My IPA was also delicious. They have hamburgers, salDas, sandwiches and specials and wine or other drinks. Plus nice hot coffee or green or black ☕🍵. I highly recommend it if you pass by.the hamburgers are the best!!!
The Riata Diner & Tavern, nestled in the heart of Livermore, CA, brings a cowboy theme to life. The bartender shines with skill, and the Bloody Marys were off the hook! While the appetizers didn't wow me, their commitment to local, simple fare is commendable. Would return for the cocktails!
Love this place! Went there for Taco Tuesday, the wait was a little long, but once the food came it made sense. You can't beat the deal! $1 tacos $5 nachos and $3 drinks! The food was great. The atmosphere is a lot of fun.
The SO hadnt been in years, but always bragged about the breakfast shot and bloody mary. Im not an early drinker, so i stuck with coffee and water. The place was hoppin' at 10am on super bowl sumday, as expected. We sat out front and enjoyed the sun and fresh air. I ordered the mexican benidict w/tots while he enjoyed a generously portioned country fried steak with potatoes. Every thing was excellent. 10/10 will eat there again
We often visit on Sunday's for brunch and love the menu. Even when they're busy, the staff is polite and eager to get you seated. Great bloody mary's. We'll keep coming back! I love the Reuben sandwich.
This place is awesome. Always a good go to when in town. Great home cooked recipes and daily specials. Tuesday Happy Hour.
I'm in town for a family event and we went here for lunch/breakfast. It was so good! It was very busy and we waited about 30mns for a table bit it was well worth it! The bloody Mary was delish and a little Spicer than I expected. The breakfast shot with Jamison, butterscotch schnapps, and orange juice with bacon chaser was surprisingly tasty. For our appetizer we had the breaded, deep fried avocado slices. They were crispy on the outside and soft and rich in avocado flavor on the inside. The chipotle aoli that accompanied the avo spears was excellent and had a lovely smokey mild spice it. For my entre I ordered the namesake dish of the restaurant, Riatas signature Mexican Eggs Benedict. I sometimes don't enjoy chorizo due to the excessive grease that can come with it, this preparation was lovely though. The eggs were cooked perfect and the hash browns were crispy on the outside and soft in the center, perfect! I will be back(maybe even once more on this trip) and would recommend it to a friend.
My favorite place in Livermore. Great family food, great flavor, huge portions!

My favorite place in Livermore. Great family food, great flavor, huge portions!
We had a fantastic time here. The food and service is great! The prices are so low.
Went in for breakfast and cocktails and was treated to the best bloody mary in town, so says the sign in the window. Without a comparison to other local libations I can say there was nothing about their version that had me thinking otherwise. The food was delicious and a good portion left with me which I later enjoyed for a second time.( Hearty) I would recommend this establishment to anyone comfortable in a busy active social environment with good music.
The Riata is one of Livermore’s most reliable go‑to spots—comfort food, friendly service, and a classic diner‑meets‑tavern atmosphere that feels like home. It’s the kind of place where you can walk in any time of day and know exactly what you’re getting: hearty portions, great prices, and a staff that treats regulars like family.
My husband and I decided on a last minute date, asked someone from the area for a recommendation and this is where we ended up. We were able to walk in and sit where we wanted. When they delivered our appetizer, we both commented about the generous portion vs. cost. It was delicious. I chose a riblet special for dinner and my husband got something off the regular menu. They happily swapped out the sides that came with it for any other side I wanted. I also ordered a lemon drop. It was wonderful. It’s rare that I order a drink out and I don’t feel like the bartender is trying to get me drunk, but this one tasted like it should. The food and drinks were amazing and the portions were generous. Service was perfect. I also forgot a sweater and purchased one of their signature sweatshirts. I love it. Right up my alley. This definitely has a ‘locals’ vibe but was very welcoming. My husband and I will be back. We’ve found a new date night location.
The food hits hard, but the Reuben sandwich? That thing should be illegal it’s so good. It’s stacked, juicy, and straight up addictive. If you’re in the city and skip The Riata, you’re messing up your whole day.
I love this place. My bestie and I go there at least once a week now. The staff is very attentive, drinks are nice, and the food is always done perfectly. If you ask for your burger to be cooked a certain way you can be sure it will be.
Surprisingly good dinner and exceptional service. Stephanie M. was super friendly, anticipated our needs, made helpful recommendations, navigated dietary restrictions, and checked in just the right amount. Side salad was fresh and dressings were house-made and very good. Tri-tip was a generous portion. Server’s recommendation of ordering the steak Medium was right on, as it was somewhat pink - what some places would call Medium Rare. The berry cobbler was homemade and delicious. Prices were very reasonable. Will add Riata to our Livermore rotation!

Visited on Sunday afternoon. Very enjoyable spot on the patio. Best Bloody Mary. Mojito needed some sweetness. Beers were great, but at least 4 of the beers listed outside were sold out. Service was a little slow. I'll definitely be back.

Food was pretty good here with a good amount of options. Beer list wasn't big but it wasn't bad either. Overall pretty good place for dinner and drinks. The atmosphere is pretty nice. Love the western decour
First visit and went for the potato basil soup and grilled cheese sandwich. Soup was flavorful and thick in a nice potato way. Maybe next time can I get a bowl? Most perfect grilled cheese I've had in years. Perfectly toasted, not greasy. Nice crunchy outside. Yes!!! We shared a slice of key lime pie Also very good, partner ate some of my share. Much resentment on my part Pretty quiet Wednesday night visit after 8 pm. No waiting.

Came in for breakfast as we were looking for a place to chow down after the Livermore run on Sunday morning. Heard this was a good spot for breakfast and they were quick to accommodate us with of high volume of customers but didn't not mind to wait for bit. The service as quick and easy and the food did not take long to be served and everything was great and everyone was friendly.
I rarely leave negative reviews, mostly positive as I believe credit is due when deserved. Today was different. I treated myself to breakfast which is rare. Craving coffee and eggs. Seated at a one of the bar tables, the bartender (owner's son) mentioned he'd be right with me. It's Sunday morning, it's busy, I get it. I said no worries! Just happy to be acknowledged. It all went south from there. Young waitress approached my table and asked if she could get me anything, yes please, coffee and water. She asked if I was ready to order, yes please, eggs and an English muffin. She returned with my coffee and water. That was the last I'd see of her until my meal was completed. My empty coffee cup sat on the edge of my table during my entire meal hoping to be refreshed. It never happened. She had passed my table several times without approaching to see if I needed anything. No eye contact, yet lots of chitchat time with coworkers in the corner of the bar talking about other employee's personal problems for all within earshot to hear. I had to flag her down for a refill. She was so unobservant that she didn't notice my creamer dish was empty and walked off after bringing me my 2nd cup after my meal was finished... did I mention this? I had to stop her and ask for creamer. (The little plastic cups) This was the last I saw of her this morning. (Bartender handed me my bill) She never came back to check on my coffee, did not to ask if i needed anything. The one time I craved eggs and coffee. I think a 20% tip was overly generous, however the food was good, the food runner was very kind, I'm hopeful they split tips. My server would not be deserving. Disappointed, I'll prepare my own breakfast going forward. 😔 me thinks a different career may be a suitable suggestion.
The menu looked great. I wish I could tell you how the food was. But we sat down around 10:30 am and by 11:03, no one had touched the table to even say hello, let alone take an order. We got up and left. Not sure when they'll realize it ... Responding to the business: We tried. We tried making eye contact with anyone with a name tag that walked past our table. They either turned their backs, or straight up avoided eye contact, looking over or around us. But also, is it normal for a table to have to remind the host / staff that they should check in on tables? We felt being ignored for a half hour was indicative of the service we would have received if we had stayed, and left before we were committed to waiting another hour for any food we ordered to be delivered.
Happening Friday night vibe on Sunday morning. Loved the cool styled cowboy decor. Corn beef hash while plentiful was nothing like I would have expected- large chunks of corned beef layered up on hash browns, thought it was supposed to be all chopped up. My friends weren’t too thrilled with this chicken fried steak either. Service was really good and the upbeat energy of the place was good, I’d just stick with the basics maybe bacon and eggs or a burger.

Do not recommend. Worst tri-tip I’ve ever had. 2 of us at the table ordered it medium rare and it was so tough and full of gristle you couldn’t cut it with the steak knife. Mentioned it to the waitress who offered to make it again and wasn’t any better. Just poor quality meat. The reason I won’t go back is it was still on the bill. Overall the food here is just not up to par. So many better choices in Livermore. Very disappointed!
Came in with my kid like I haven't seen in a minute. Asked the waiter what I should order and he said steak sandwich. I ordered medium rare with fries well done steak came out rare and the fries soggy. So I asked if they could cook both more I don't want to eat a rare steak that's still mooing. Then the fries came out perfect and the steak was well done. When Sam The bartender asked how it was I told him I hate to be this person but now the steak is overcooked and I don't want it. Before I can finish he ripped my plate away from me and was so rude and slammed down the bill. I would have paid for the fries and I actually wanted to order another meal instead but because he was pissed that I was upset about the steak he just gave me the bill and didn't even ask if I wanted something else. I've been a bartender for 20 years and this was the worst customer service I've ever received I still gave a $3 tip which in my opinion is an insult because I normally tip 30 bucks. I wanted to order something else instead but he was so angry that the kitchen didn't know how to make a steak that he took it out on the customer. Glad I don't live in Livermore anymore and hopefully the next time I go back Sam won't be there and I'll go with the BLT instead cuz he can't mess that up right
Place has seen better days. Cust service was great. Got seafood. It was terrible- not fresh, old oil, salty, heavily breaded. Fries not good either. Was surprised to find such friendly people there- nice plus. Just wish the food would draw me back. But sadly no, one and done. Should've gone across the street to catch the mobile outdoor food venue. Didn't see that until we were done and leaving. Got a nasty note from the owner. Vitriolic and defensive. Enough said...
My husband gets off work late & we planned to go to Sauced BBQ but unexpected maintenance caused closure. My husband said he wanted a hamburger. So we Google Best hamburgers & Riata came up first. Short on time we mapped that location. Unfortunately we arrived at this place we came once before. I remembered it wasn't good to me with the Philly sandwich but i remembered my husband liked his hamburger so I tried the Ortega burger. Medium well. Gross 😝 raw. Loss appetite but won't send it back. Tried cooking it home next day bc it wasn't cheap. Still not good. Paid extra for onions, and asked for some lettuce, tomato. Glad I asked but was skimpy to say the least. We won't be going back ever! Picture doesn't do it justice.
At first it looks nice. I am Deaf. I typed to communicate. The waitress rolled her eyes up. Then she handed tea. It does not look good. I add pictures. When my foods was ready, it was on cooking booth for long time. Patty is frozen to eat. It is crisp bacon but it is already cold. Fruits looks old. Poached egg tastes good but it is very cold.

It’s truly disappointing to see what this once-beloved local favorite has become. Unfortunately, the downfall of this establishment seems to stem directly from its owner, Lisa. Her behavior toward customers is unprofessional, rude, and completely unacceptable, likely all tied to the serious problem she has with alcohol abuse. Lisa, it’s clear that you need to take a serious look at how your personal choices are affecting your business and the community that supported you for decades. The way you’ve treated long-time regulars and loyal patrons is disgraceful. You were incredibly rude to my friends, and I will not be returning. It is sad how many people you judge, yet you are not willing to take a look in the mirror and seriously take an honest reflection of your own self and the way you choose to live your life. The food and service have also declined in quality, but even if they hadn’t, the lack of respect and hostility from ownership make this place impossible to support. Please get help and take responsibility for how you’re treating others. I know you’ll likely respond defensively, but if you’re honest with yourself, you already know the truth. I won’t be back. Put down the alcohol and get the help you know you seriously need.
