Totem Cafe in Lone Pine was a great spot for the family! The unique burger presentation and quality pasta dishes make this a solid choice when passing through the area, though dessert lovers might want to adjust their expectations slightly. [Food & Menu] The Chicken Alfredo was a standout dish, perfectly prepared with a rich, creamy sauce that complemented the chicken beautifully. The pasta was cooked to the right texture and the portion size was generous. The burger deserves special mention for its unique presentation on a french roll rather than a traditional bun. This creative twist worked surprisingly well and added character to what could have been an ordinary menu item. In general, everything we tried was delicious. [Service] The team here was notably friendly throughout our visit. Their welcoming attitude and attentiveness enhanced the overall dining experience, making us feel genuinely welcome rather than just another table to serve. [Atmosphere & Ambiance] The cafe maintains a comfortable, casual atmosphere that's perfect for travelers and locals alike. The setting feels authentic to the small-town character of Lone Pine. [Special Features] The french roll burger presentation is definitely a unique touch that sets Totem Cafe apart from typical roadside dining options. This also made it easier to share as a family! It's these kinds of creative details that make a place memorable. [Value] For the quality and portion sizes, the pricing felt fair and appropriate for the area. [Dessert] The Peach Pie rounded out the meal, though it leaned a bit sweeter than my personal preference. That said, it's still good pie, and sometimes you just need to embrace the indulgence! The flaky crust and fresh peach filling delivered that homestyle dessert experience you'd hope for. If you choose to visit Totem Cafe in Lone Pine, I hope you enjoy!
If you're driving on the 395 through Lone Pine, this place is a must try . You won't be disappointed. We had breakfast there, and it was bomb. I got the bacon and eggs with biscuits and gravy... portions are huge, and the biscuits and gravy were unbelievably tasty.
They were out of BBQ chicken so I ordered the 1/2 rack of ribs, and I'm glad I did. Fall off the bone good, not a lot of gristle, and great sides. Super attentive wait staff, and their blueberry pie disappeared quickly. I'll be back!
Simple menu, packed with various options - a great spot to carb/protein/iron load before any strenuous hike! Kind staff, left with a jar of local honey.
Was recommended by the Best Western attendant, and he did not let us down. Best meal we have had so far on vacation. I had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes, zucchini, and a Caesar salad. My wife had the half roasted chicken (same sides) and they were both terrific. Well worth the stop!
A very juicy, not over seasoned, hot steak was served. The side dishes were firm to the bite and very tasty, The beer was very tasty. That's what a steak should taste like, we'd love to go there again
This was just amazing, it was just what we needed as a stopover, good quality food, not too expensive and served quickly. The place consists of many interesting and retro details of the culture of the place. I highlight the excellent and attentive attention that made us feel at home. I really love cherry pie
I've been coming here for more than 20 years and it ALWAYS delivers an exceptional dining experience. Our server was very professional and friendly. I had a Veggie Omelette with avocado and salsa. One word. YUM! We also had sausage and scrabbled eggs. Both were a good, hearty breakfast. I can't wait to try their lunch and dinner options?
Great place to eat, some of the best country fried steak and biscuits and gravy I have tried. The chicken fried steak is actually a steak, not ground beef so that was amazing. It's family owned so everyone there was a warm and caring.
Decided to stop in here after a night of camping in Alabama Hills and I'm so glad we did. Love the ambiance here, tons of locals stopping in here so you know it's good. Our server, I believe her name was Angelica, was amazing, funny, attentive, didn't rush us, had great conversation with us and tons of suggestions for the area and town, really enjoyed having her as our server. Also another older light skinned Mexican man who wasn't attending our table still kept checking in on us and striking small convos which I really enjoyed. The food was amazing and very flavorful, this was one of the first places I ever been to where they have the option for biscuits and gravy as a side to most plates unlike other places that sell it as its own meal. Loved the portions very generous and the IPA I got to wash it down was delicious. Love how it's located right on the road that leads you to mount Whitney so it's hard to miss and the outdoor dining is the perfect spot to people watch. Overall this place really won me over to the point where I looked up property prices in Lone Pine when I got home lol Being Mexican I love the fact that Raza is working here and thriving, always a sign the food is gonna be good. This will definitely be my go to spot for meals when I'm passing through or camp in Alabama Hills/Mount Whitney.
Everything was awesome, I don't remember our server's name but she was really nice and accommodating

Good spot to eat, one day I had their Philly cheese steak. Really good and then the next day I had their sweet and spicy shrimp spaghetti. That was very good . Especially after hiking Mt Whitney
Perfect place to stop for some breakfast although it was pretty empty and the food still took a while to come out. Regardless the food was good.
A laidback local spot worth stopping in. I had dinner here on a recent work trip. I was not in the mood for fast food and noticed that there were many positive reviews for this spot. Based on some of the reviews, I decided on the half rack of ribs dinner. It came with a side salad, with a choice of baked potato or fries. Along with a seasonal veggie. The portions were more than enough. The ribs weren’t bad but not mind blowing either. The fries were excellent and the aide veggies were ok. The side salad was very simple. But overall I was happy with my meal mainly due to the great service from the lone waitress working there that night. She was very attentive and friendly. No regrets coming here. And if you’re in the area support this neat local spot.
This is a really cute cafe in lodge decor. Unfortunately, we couldn't try the steaks, ribs nor seafood because the dinner menu doesn't start until 5:00, so we had to order from the lunch menu. We got the patty melt with potato salad and the club sandwich with fries. Everything was really good, especially the "homemade" potato salad. Really a good place to eat as long as you don't mind having lunch at 4:30.
Excellent services. The place is roomy and clean. The bathrooms are clean and appeared to be recently remodeled. The salmon and the BBQ chicken were good. Their grilled vegetables were so fresh!!!
There is plenty of room in and out of the restaurant for seating. Really, the only limitation is with how many people are on duty to wait tables. The meals are delicious and reasonably proportioned. There are numerous signatures on the walls to inspect along with plenty of photos from past movies shot in the area. I ordered the veggie omelette and avocado toast all of which was quite nice. The one working waitress was a little overwhelmed from time to time.

We got the half rack of ribs, fried shrimp, and ravioli. Everyone really enjoyed their choice. Food was great, service was great. Atmosphere was quiet, but nice. Only a few other tables taken. Food came out fairly quick, and hot! May want to wait a little bit before eating.

After attempting the Whitney summit hike, we really wanted to eat a proper meal before our drive back to the Bay area, so we decided to stop by Totem cafe for breakfast. Their chorizo scramble was very dry and had no flavors. The hot chocolate was decent. It came in a big cup with a lot of whipped cream. You can get coffee refills free of charge. The service was pretty fast.

Ordered chicken fried steak with biscuit and gravy. The biscuit and gravy was made with bacon, not sausage, making it super salty. The chicken fried steak, while made with cube steak, was overly tough. Home fries without taste. I admire their attempt to economize. Only 3 tables had customers during my hour there. Doubt I will try Totem again, at least for breakfast.

Fried shrimp is the best of all. Order fried shrimp only!!!! Vegetable pasta is alright. New York steak is hard to chew. And it’s an expensive place. Two dishes are 60 and not including tips.
When I walked into the place it was mostly empty and the first thing I noticed was a guy that looked like the owner walking around indoors wearing sunglasses. That was my first impression and it turned out to be rather accurate. The food was subpar. The service was lackadaisical. I don't plan on returning
