Hands down best food I've ever had! Crawfish bisque was delish and stayed hot throughout our whole meal! Gator bites and fried shrimp breaded nicely and had great flavor! Staff was super nice!

First time here tonight with the family. We had the Boudain egg rolls which were so DELICIOUS so a must try for anyone second guessing! My blackened chicken po'boy was spot on and my husband enjoyed his chicken fried steak, said the dirty rice was excellent. Manager came around to check on the occupied tables and I highly appreciate that! You don't get that anywhere anymore. Music wasn't too loud and they had the football games on all the screens. Definitely will be back!

Wanted to try something different so we came to Gators Bayou. It was difficult picking out what to eat because everything and I mean everything sounded delish! We ordered appetizer and food. Shortly after we got our food I accidentally spilled water all over appetizer and my daughters food. Needless to say our waitress came to the rescue and cleaned up my mess! They even brought out new appetizer and another plate of food for my daughter. The manager came out and joked with us and told us he would fix us up! The staff was extremely friendly! The place was clean and the food was absolutely delicious! Definitely a top favorite for us!

The food is fantastic! We love the staff, they're spunky and are good natured. If you had a bad experience... ya must have a stick up your ass... The food, ugh the FOOD!!!! IT IS SO DAMN GOOD! It's a vibrant atmosphere surrounded by people who have a good time. There might be a wait at night (because everyone wants to eat there) but hang in there because it is WORTH IT! Their bread is so soft and hot. I always order the Cajun Pasta but request it with PINK sauce. Mmmm pink sauce...

Saw this place while out getting a coffe this morning. Gave them a try during lunch. Gumbo was good, redbeans and rice was delicious as were the frog legs but the bartender (Rich was on his shirt) made the trip worth it. Very personal young man. Next time I'm in Lubbock I'll be sure to come back.

I've been here three times and loved it every single time. It's as Cajun as I've ever had, but with the laid back environment of an everyday bar. Some prices are subject to market price (like gator), but it's worth it if you ask me. Service is quick and friendly, even when you're outside on a somewhat warm day. They've got games on every TV and tap running for customers. I always went for gator whether it was gator bites or gator po' boy. I love how they stuff the sandwich past the point of overfilling it. Their sampler platter was also fantastic as it comes out hot and delicious. This place was worth every penny I spent here and I'm going to miss it while I'm up north.

Went there to have a meal and drinks with another couple. Our server was top-notch; she was always on the go, and we never had to ask for anything. Management was also making rounds and asking if we needed anything. The food was very good; we will definitely return.

Lunch!!!! I don't want to give this review becoz I love this place so much. The wait staff makes this plave a 10. They must have an incredible training system. The wait staff are so lovely. We had an excellent meal today at Gators Bayou, and it was a joy from start to finish. The service was thoughtful, the atmosphere was friendly, and everything felt welcoming. Our waitress, Brinleigh, took our order right away and made sure our food arrived just as we hoped. She came by several times to check on us and kept the water refilled, which I truly appreciate. She is a wonderful young lady and did a fantastic job. We could not have been more pleased with our visit today, and we look forward to coming back.

I ate there late one afternoon after running errands, they were maybe 30% busy. I had the blackened catfish with corn on the cob, a cup of gumbo with shrimp added, a cup of red beans and rice, and the bread pudding. It was all pretty authentic but not too (spicy) hot, which is fine for the Lubbock region. The only regret was the bread pudding. It was too dense, very very dry, and a bit lacking in flavor. I've had much better when I used to live in southeast Texas and Louisiana, I'm not sure what went wrong with that dish (maybe microwave reheating contributed). Next time it's going to be cheesecake for dessert, because I'll definitely be coming back. I always tip generously if my server refills my glass and check on me regularly, and my waitress earned it this time. Gator's Bayou has been a favorite of mine since they opened. I'm dying to return for the crawfish bisque, etoufee, and maybe jambalaya next time!! They have excellent beer selection and great cocktails, but I can't have them with my COPD right now, or I would have ordered them just to improve my review. Definitely should try them out, Lubbock!!

This was our (husband, son, and me) first time here and it was very lovely. The food came out hot and fresh. Seasoned very well. The staff was attentive and friendly. Our waitress was the best. Since it wasn't too busy she took the time to talk to us and even made some suggestions about the drinks. She made us feel like friends instead of just more customers. Welcoming ... we walked into this place and immediately felt welcome. The staff here are friendly with the right 'rude lol I had the fried oysters and shrimp - they were huge and delicious!! I will definitely return for more.

Very nice experience. I had the fried chicken, it was light and airy. We really went for the alligator. I had it grilled. It was very good. I will go back and try gator all different ways.

Food was bland and okay but the wait staff and environment is that of a bar more so than a restaurant. Perfect for a drink very loud atmosphere.

Service was a bit slow but server was nice. The food tasted great but I would have enjoyed a couple more shrimps with my catfish (only 5 smallish ones). My husband's pasta was a huge seving compared to mine.

First time here and while the food and service was great.... it is a very loud restaurant. I had the Crawfish Etouffee and my wife had the Crawfish tails. Both came out quickly and were both hot. The etouffee was also good and spicy, but not overpowering.

First time to try this place. I met some friends there and then grabbed takeout and headed home. My wife wanted fried fish and I tried the Boudin Burger. She wasn't terribly impressed but didn't leave much on her plate. My burger was good, only second time to try boudin and it was delicious, the burger was huge. The bread was a little soggy by the time I got home, but the boudin was probably a factor in that. I had their red beans as my side and I thought they were a little overcooked, but that's kind of a preference issue. And driving across town with takeout always takes its toll on getting the best experience with a meal. I'll go back and try some other items. The waitress kept our drinks coming the whole time we were there and my food was ready pretty quickly.

So... we went to get something to eat, sat down and ordered. Service was good food was pretty good. Went to pay the bill and the waitress said “ y’all have a nice night someone has already paid for your dinner”. I asked her to repeat herself because the place was noisy and I thought I misunderstood. And sure enough she said the same thing. I don’t know who you are but Thank you to whomever it was that bought our dinner tonight!

The food, service and atmosphere were all very good! Felt like I was eating in south Louisiana again!!! Absolutely worth stopping in here for some great food, I'll be back my next trip to Lubbock!

I would describe this place as a bar that serves food. It definitely had that bar vibe going on. We went for the food and was not disappointed. I had the chicken fried steak. It said hand breaded, I asked before ordering if it really was. The waitress said yes so I went ahead and ordered it. It was the best one I've had in a very long time. My wife had the shrimp alfredo. She really loved it. It had a lot of shrimp also. I love Dr. Pepper and theirs is mixed to perfection. Not since I have toured the Dr. Pepper plant have i had a perfectly balanced one. That made me very happy. They changed the Dr. Pepper it no longer the best in lubbock. It's sub ok now. Put the Dr. Pepper back like it was. That was a main reason we returned. I took a star away for the depressing Dr. Pepper.

High prices, food quality was just "ok" and the food temp was cold. Waitresses gathered at the register and we're not very attentive to the patrons. I wanted a tea refill, but by the time she made it back to our table we were ready for the ticket.

1. The food just wasn't enough. I ordered a jambalaya dish and was unsatisfied with the amount of food I received. 2. The atmosphere of the restaurant alludes to its seafood roots, but fails to leave a huge impression. 3. The restaurant is located in the upscale area of Lubbock and by a great dessert spot called nothing bundt cakes. 4. There's a bar for those who enjoy drinking and an outside patio if you want to to enjoy your seafood and the sun.

There is definitely not enough seating! We weren't acknowledged till we were waiting to check in about 10 minutes. There was a game on and NOBODY was leaving a table open for people that just wanted to eat. I felt uncomfortable in this establishment so we left after waiting 20 minutes to even try getting a table! I don't think I'll ever return!

Our first time eating here was during march madness when TTU was playing. We were there about 2 hours prior to tip off but the restaurant was already starting to get full. The music was super loud and I could barely hear our waitress, but the staff was so sweet and accommodating. The food was good. We had crab cakes for an appetizer. Very good - different but good. Our food did take a while to come out and our waitress took forever to visit our table. I had to go find her a few times (one for the tab and one to ask for a to go box). The food was excellent though. I don't know if the experience was due to the game that was about to begin or if that's how their service usually is. I'll try it again though for sure.

I really really really wanted to love this place, I was so excited to go and we drove all the way from New Mexico to eat here. Unfortunately the food was bland, our drinks were warm, and it was really expensive. For two plates, an appetizer, and two alcoholic drinks it was $83. I wouldn't mind paying that much if the food was good but the gator was not seasoned at all and tasted like fry grease (literally just flour and pepper for the batter) and our drinks were room temp, we had to wait for them to cool down before we could drink them. Really no part of the meal was great, the best part was the fries and even those were just your standard restaurant fries. This place has a lot of charm and I have no doubt it could be a total gem with just a bit of work. I hope they can revise their recipes a bit and really put this place on the map.

Good Cajun food. For being in West Texas. The server was great. It's not a big restaurant. Has a bar. Lunch time was good to get a table. Open at 11 am.

Good jambalaya and gator bites but everything else was subpar of what we had. Chicken tenders had no flavor and stuffed pork chops were way overpriced for 2 "egg sized" portions of protein and were overcooked/charred. Frog legs weren't cost friendly in my opinion either but I don't know how they compare to other establishments for a similar appetizer.

Red beans and rice tasted like Hormel chili. Crawfish etouffe was like a gumbo. The only thing I liked were the voodoo fries. They were all out of oysters and that was early in the evening. Having lived in New Orleans For 12 years this food is not Cajun I will not be returning and the atmosphere inside was too loud and we ended up sitting on the patio and we were constantly swarmed by flies. Avoid this place unless you are coming for the alcohol.

I had this place saved in my “want to go” section of google maps for a long time and was really excited to go. I had high hopes. All I can say is Meh. The food was meh. Very expensive for what it is. Definitely don’t order the oysters they were far from fresh. In fact, they were awful. The fried gator was pretty good, the rest of the food was just meh. Called in order for 4 fish plates and creole with an appetizer of gator bites. When we started to eat once we got home all the fish was undercooked. The batter was done but fish was slimy and raw. Normally there food is good but last three times there it has been bad. Also you don't know who works there because the girls all had on regular clothing and the cook actually was delivering the food.

I ordered the Swamp Platter and Cajun Ribeye and was EXTREMELY disappointed. I picked it up and when I got back to my hotel (about a 5 minute drive) , ALL of the fried appetizers were pretty much mush and the steak was bland, smelled & tasted "fishy". In originally from Louisiana and I couldn't taste anything resembling "cajun" on this steak. What a waste of $60. Only ate about 1/4 of my meal and threw the rest away.

The front of the house did a great job. I found it quite interesting that no one in a full restaurant had food on their table, but did have drinks galore. I soon found out that you might have to be drunk or tipsy to eat this food. However, when I ordered the creole I did not expect half of the chicken to have no seasoning and to be cold, while the other half was warm and flavorful. In addition to cold portions of food, the tomatoes that were in sauce tasted like Rotel. If you are looking to spend $13+ on food you could mix in a college dorm room, Gator’s is the place to go.

Place was filthy, bathroom smelled bad, food was mediocre at best. Everything was fried together and stuck together. Menu selection was good, but the product wasn't. Waitress was new and didn't know about items on the menu. I should have left when I got there, but was out voted by a 6 year old. Lol

People are nice and friendly. Bartender very personable. Food was hit or miss. Shrimp very good fries were fair hush puppy OK I guess. Fish would have been good if it wasn't almost raw. I had specifically asked for the catfish to be cooked extra crispy and they give me raw fish. Neither me or my mom could eat it. For the price totally unacceptable. My order was to go. Won't be back. I'll stick with Red Lobster.

Let me start off by saying the service is perfectly fine. The problem is the food. It’s the most boring bland claim to Cajun cuisine I’ve ever tasted. The gumbo was tasteless and boring. The roux wasn’t even the proper color for a gumbo. It was closer to a blonde roux then a dark rich roux. There was absolutely no seasoning or spice (not heat, proper Cajun spice). The red beans and rice were also bland and some of was either undercooked or had been sitting for too long. The Cajun cigars were described as being stuffed with a Cajun stuffing (to me that means like a stuffing made from cornbread or some sort of bread). It was nothing but cheese. That’s fine, but fix the description on your menu. This place was an absolute disappointment.

Recently had dinner there and the jambalaya was cold and inedible. Our server Taylor was rude, unprofessional when confronted with our concerns, and overall indifferent and uncaring. I’d consider trying the restaurant again, had our service not been so terrible and unforgivable

Okay food, okay service. I can make better Cajun food than what's served here so I wouldn't waste the money if you're looking for that authentic Cajun flavor. Plus it's more expensive than it should be. But hey, if you want to have an overpriced bland lunch/dinner in a snobby environment, this is the place for you!

Me and my dad went there and we both ordered some chicken and rice dish with a Cajun name I can not remember because I'm writing the review 3 months after. It came out half hot because they only grilled the chicken. The rice was probably either microwave rice or rice they cooked froze and then microwaved, since it was overcooked and dry. The sauce wasn't some slow melding of onions garlic and celery with chicken and spices like I would imagine. It was was bag marinara microwaved with raw onions and celery then slopped on top. I walked out without paying (we told them and they didn't charge us). People still go there so I assume there is edible food on the menu somewhere or people just go there to drink beer. Still if they have the audacity to serve that and try and charge $13 for it they deserve a 1 star review.

Service was awesome, this post has nothing to do with front of house. The food was subpar for the price. I had about a cup of grated Parmesan with about a 1/2 cup of noodle and not much meat to go with my Cajun Pasta. The sauce was overwhelming so it was hard to even see what I had, I would not recommend this place for food at all.

Worst and rudest service ever. Didn't get to eat. My husband and I, along with our little service dog went in today. As soon as we walked in, the staff looked over at us and the dog, and started laughing. I knew it was about the dog.  They asked us flat out if he was a service dog, being that he had his apparent vest on. I even showed them his ADA card. Then we got told the manager was there. And? They came up to us and told us the dog could not be in the furniture.  He was on my lap. He is a 5 lb Yorkie who is our cardiac dog. There is NO rule according to the ADA abour a dog having to be on the floor.  We finally left as we weren't going to be grilled any longer. Will never set foot there and will be contacting my attorney

Went in for a late lunch, and the service was insufficient for a sparsely filled establishment. The waitress was rude and spent more time visiting with other wait staff. The order was wrong all the way around. The food has no flavor except for pepper. The drinks and waitresses outfits bring the customer's in. The food will not keep them coming back. I would not recommend this place at all.

Very disappointed, too loud can't even hear the person sitting in front of me at the table. I can't post a picture but I payed 13.00 for 1fish filet and 5 shrimp they didn't have hush puppies which came with the meal and I was never informed they didn't have any. They offered 2 pieces of bread in replacement. This was a bigger rip off than the time I was in Mexico. Food was ok but the portion was extra small.

The staff was friendly but this place was very under staffed. (Two waitresses, one bar tender with a full house) We did not see or meet our waitress until after 20mins of being seated, after we ordered it took over a hr to come out, so we decided to leave at that point.

The Jambalaya was horribly over cooked. The rice just clumped together. The fried shrimp 🍤 was a little on the burned side. Our waitress seemed to not be interested in the customers. Definitely not worth returning.

So will not return. We sat for a few minutes while servers walked passed and other staff stood around talking. I finally approached the bar and asked if we needed to come to the bar and order or were we getting a server. After watching 2 servers discuss who would serve us as if neither of them wanted to we got service. The food came out in a decent time but wasnt the best, some was warm some was cold. We asked for 2 sweet tea refills and she didnt refill with ice so we got warm tea with 3 melted pieces on top. Definitely not worth the amount of the bill.

We walked in and stood looking around, no one greeted us or acknowledged us, so we found a table ourselves (the only clean one) and sat down. After about five minutes three different waitresses cleaned all three of the tables surrounding us without saying a word or letting us know who would be waiting on us. After at least another five minutes and several looks from the staff later, we decided to leave. All without anyone ever speaking to us. We went to one of Lubbock's fine restaurants who believe in service. If you want NO service, then this is your place!

My husband took me there for my birthday at 3:00. It was as not busy at all. We placed our ordered, and then our waitress sat down at the bar. 40 mins later our waitress decided to check on our food. I watched her eat food off of a plate in the kitchen and then take that same plate to guests at another table (that arrived after us). She then came to tell us something happened to our sandwiches and they would have to start over. We told her we couldn’t stay because we only had a short time before our kids needed to be picked up. She could care less. I understand that people have their days, but I was so disappointed in the service, our date was ruined, and we didn’t get to eat. Lesson learned, we won’t be returning.

Went in for a kind of "Early Fathers Day" dinner with my wife and half our order was wrong. After we waited 45 minutes already, we weren't waiting another 45 so we sent it all back. EVERYTHING was still on the ticket. From there they made it seem as if it was our fault the waitress put it in wrong and treated us like we just wanted a free meal. Kind if hard when we sent everything back. Their new management is terrible.

Food was horrible! Me and my party ordered half dozen oysters on the half shell, gumbo and the sampler appetizer the gumbo was horrid and the pre shucked oysters tasted like the bottom of an old fridge. Ended up leaving all the food on the table wasted 45 dollars never returning again.

Do not eat here. I ate here and have had food poisoning since! I had a burger and got food poisoning. I know it's from here because the food was gross tasting and it was all I ate that day. I felt sick soon after eating then that night I got sick all the way until right now. I went to the doctor, and it was confirmed I had food poisoning. Also, three of my other friends have just expressed they have gotten food poisoning from here as well! DO NOT EAT HERE!

Just had dinner here and a few things happened. 1. Food was both overly seasoned and my husband's was underseasoned 2. Our waitress was too concerned about the bar crowd coming in, we tried flagging her down several times to pay 3. Waitress tried to keep our change as a tip until we asked for the remainder! We would have given her the change until she tried to keep it! End result. You lost customers.

Very seldom will I post negative comments but in this case I must! The fish I was served tasted old and bad! The service was worse. The waitress was more interested in sitting with her friends than doing her job. I would give 0 stars if possible.

came here 2 nights ago at approx 9:30 pm at night, I ordered the dirty bird, fried chicken over rice with cream sauce. i have never been more sick, ive been sick for 2 days with food poisoning. never again eating here.

First time going. The people who worked there wasn't friendly when we walked in. One lady with glasses and one long braid down her back looks at us rolled her eyes and walked away. But everyone that came after us was greeted. Except this mixed couple. Catch my drift. The person who waited on us was friendly though.

Service was horrible. The food was ok. Girl waiter was more interested in the Guy she was conversing with than my order of Gumbo. Needed Tabasco and more crackers. Finally had to get up and interrupt her discussion. Owner is good by coming to see if everything was ok. Let him know. I will make my own Gumbo with my spices that I got from New Iberia Louisiana instead of wasting time and presence there.

Waitress repeated my order back to me, but couldn’t deliver the same order and then tried to say that we were the problem to the manager, and the manager didn’t even respond to the fact that the food was rubbery and not delivered on a timely fashion as ordered they gave her way too many tables, clearly way out of our origin and manager’ Manager was not hospitable nor was he very good with customer service to say the least would not recommend trying this place hard to believe it’s been open 14 years I hear now today

This place use to be one of my favorite places to hang out and eat and have a few drinks. The patio was nice, the service was excellent and the food was great. The last 2 times I've been there my service has been mediocre and the food has been terrible. I went back yesterday thinking I would not order sea food so I ordered a sandwich...how can you mess up a sandwich right??? Well it was awful, disgusting.. my daughter has been throwing up all night. We most definitely will not ever be back.

My husband and I, brought our family to this place for the first time. The food was good till our waitress started flirting more with my husband (like have more respect for yourself). She was trying to get a tip or something more.. very rude! but we didn't leave her anything. Not sure if the staff is underpaid or what kinda of management have them doing to where our waitress made everything uncomfortable.

I have not eaten here in a while and was excited to make it to Lubbock in time to eat at what once was one of my favorite restaurants. The wait inside the restaurant was a reasonable 45 minutes, we opted to sit outside. The hostess/ waitress who led us outside, waited on three tables that came in after we did. I understand things happen but i really find this totally inexcuseable for a restaurant that has been open as long as this one. So we left.

Went to eat brunch for mother's day. They sat us outside, then must have forgot we were put there. I had to go in after sitting on the patio for 15 minutes and ask for menus. After drinks were ordered we didn't see her again until we moved inside, thinking that if they saw us they would remember...no such luck. Food finally came out and it was stale and cold. Horrible horrible service! If you like good food and great service avoid Gators Bayou!!!

I would give this restaurant a 0 star but I can not. I got the chicken and sausage gumbo and there was a long hair I had to pull out of my mouth that was mixed in my food. They did offer to get me something else which I opted for the chicken salad. It took forever to come out and I had to go back to work which I did not have time to eat it. Then they want to charge me for the more expensive entree. I don't think so. Horrible experience! When I asked the waitress to take it off my ticket since I did not eat the salad she got a sassy attitude with me. I will not be going back!

Let start off by saying our server was great. We went there on our lunch break, took a seat and within 2 min had our food and drink order in. 3 more min we had our drinks! 55 min into our 60 min lunch break our food had not come out. We told our server to cancel the order because we had to get back to work, she brought the bill for the sodas, and we paid. I have no problem paying for the sodas but we were not offered to go cups and the manager ignored us.

We sent our first dishes back because they tasted like tomato soup mixed with rice, and when we ordered the fettuccine Alfredo, the sauce was liquid and everything was bland. For $106 dollar tab, this experience was disappointing and we will not be coming back.

It's more of a bar atmosphere now than a restaurant it used to be. We asked for bread our meal and received 2 slices of toasted bread. The hushpuppies with my boyfriend's meal were so hard he said he could have broke glass with them!! The Chicken Ala Mier was extremely dry, I ate it, but I had to drink all my drink to get it down. :( normally it has a gravey with it not this time. Sad. We won't be back to Gator's Bayou in Lubbock Texas ant time soon.

Ordered out and catfish, crawdads tails, and shrimp were all bland with no seasoning in the breading. Dirty rice and red beans and rice were overly spicy to a point the flavor wasn’t enjoyable. Portions are also an issue. If a family of three orders a meal and the price comes out to $60 you should probably get a reasonable amount of food.

I was super excited to try this place but couldn’t have been more disappointed. The waitress was not attentive, my drink remained empty while she stood at the corner of the bar talking and drinking from her Stanley. Asked for extra shrimp on my pasta it came with a total of 7 small shrimp literally the tiny shrimp not even the medium. Asked if this was extra- the waitress said she asked the kitchen and they said yes they put extra, then said she went and talk to the manager and was told 4 for normal and 3 when you order extra. Ummm 5.99 for 3 tiny over cooked shrimp?!?! As a previous manager when someone came to me with a complaint I would always follow up with the customer but nope not here.. It was also suppose to be mild but has so much heat I couldn’t eat it. Yes I can handle heat but I didn’t want heat today. My husband’s crawfish was also way overcooked. The prices are ridiculously high for what you get. We will not be going back.
