I used to hate when my grandparents drug me to GC as a child. BUT, I have to confess that I really enjoyed this meal. The food is much better than I remember it as a kid. My kids loved it. The food was fresh and hot, and the buffet areas were clean. The selection was mind blowing, of course that's what they are known for. But the best thing.....We had a waitress. Not a "server" but an actual waitress. It was wonderful! What a relief to be able to eat a meal and have perfect service. Didn't have to chase her for drinks or ask 2-3 times for steak sauce. She magically appeared at just right time. Waiters and waitresses are becoming a lost profession and its a shame.

We went to Houston, TX, for our anniversary, but on our way home, we stopped at this Golden Corral, I don't like Golden Corral but my husband do because of the steaks they cook. Well, this doesn't do any cooking steaks, but they have one of the most beautiful spread of food. And 😋 yes, it was.

Last night was a special night. That's where my son wanted to take his date before they went to the prom. It was his first date, first prom. We always eat there if we're in town. I've never gotten anything that wasn't good. We had the fried catfish and it was wonderful. I would recommend for anyone to eat there. The service was great too.

The food was amazing and the employees were very kind. Immediately our server Alex made my family and I feel welcomed. Drinks were always filled and dirty plates were always picked up. Mangers were also very involved and working. One of the best golden corrals I have been to.

Great service!! Jason was an awesome waiter! We never had to ask for anything he was on top of it. The food was great, fresh, and hot. I stopped in the restaurant today for a quick lunch. My server was Maggy and she was absolutely wonderful and professional at her job. There was a small hiccup with an item on your salad bar but was quickly fixed. The food was great but Maggy made the whole experience worth the visit. Thank you for such a great eating experience.

The food gets 4 stars because let's face it, it is a buffet so everything isn't going to taste amazing, but it all taste good and there's alot of variety. The staff is always nice and the patrons are cordial. It's honestly my go to when I don't want to cook.

The selection is always great and food is fresh. We love their turnip greens and my son loves their rolls. The restaurant is clean and they still provide gloves and hand sanitizer to use to visit the food bar which I think is great. Our waitress was spot on with the drinks - always full and used plates picked up quickly. This is one of our go to places.

It's a buffet, try one of everything. It's a good way of trying something new. Food was good but not great. Prices are lower for lunch but you miss out on a few meat dishes (like ribs & steak) that they only have after 5pm. The place is kept nice and CLEAN which is a sign of good management and a must for me. When eating at any buffet you must inspect the food area before you pay...you'll know why when you find that one place that you wouldn't eat at. This place gets 5 stars from me...but it's just a buffet.

I always enjoy eating here. I'm a meat eater and there is always plenty of delishious meat available. My husband eats veggies and can always load up on plenty of them. I have never been disappointed in the quality of the good food here. It is always expertly cooked. My favorite is the fried fish. I also love the shrimp. This is my favorite place to eat in Lufkin, unfortunately I'm not here often so it is a real treat. I highly recommend this restaurant.

AFAIK, this is the only breakfast buffet for public access anywhere in the area, and it's only Saturday and Sunday mornings (if anyone knows another in Lufkin/Nac, reply to this and let me know where). It's full buffet, fruit and salad bar, coffee, juices, milk. Full southern American offerings, and a robust TexMex slate as well (tamales, chili, tortillas, etc.) All the things you could possibly want for breakfast, except maybe bakery goods? (It was like the normal lunch/dinner dessert offerings) There's an egg station which will custom do eggs fried, scrambles, omelets (maybe poached, but INS). Rosie was my waitress, and she was a doll. Friendly, attentive, but not overbearing. If you are a big breakfast brunch person, then you'll get your money's worth, I promise.

No matter how the food may be that day, there's always great service here. Seems lately the food is hit or miss. I always look forward to going, but when I leave I'm always thinking it wasn't as good as I thought it would be.

Online it says their dinner prices are 12.99 we went in and it was 15.99 plus 3$ more for a drink. Although I love the food. I think the price is a bit outrageous. And if there's 3 or more people I think there should be some kind of discount. Good food! Order water though if you don't want to pay almost 20$ per person

This location is one of the better Golden corrals we have been too. The buffet was very clean and well stocked. The food was good and hot. Our waitress was attentive and pleasant. My only complaint is the price of the weekend buffet. It's just too much to spend so in the future we will go during the week. Much more affordable for this senior.

The food was great, my mother really enjoyed the beef livers with onions. MS. Maggy was our hostess in our section and she very helpful, keeping our tables clear from use dishes, our drinks filling was on point. We had two tables, and we enjoyed it well. Thank you for having my family for lunch.

Ordered Christmas dinner their roast of beef and sides it was Fantastic. I didn't have to do a thing but serve the meal, the beef roast was cooked beautifully ( I still have a chunk of the roast in the freezer ) the sides were just as good as if I had made them. Will do it again.

Extremely clean! Disposable gloves for diners to serve themselves. Masks required at the buffet. Tables spaced a safe social distance. The fried chicken was hot and tasty. The okra and tomatoes, rice, and Bourbon Street Chicken were delicious. The bread pudding, banana pudding, and the hot fudge are excellent! Maggy cleared our dirty dishes swiftly and was quick to replace plates - and you could tell she was smiling even with her mask on! They are handling the pandemic well!

The food and service ....GREAT! Spot on with the tea, warm rolls, crisp fresh salad, fried crunchy fish, all very good. My only thing is the carpet and the old booths. It's not bad and everything was clean. Its just a personal preference. I will be back and I do highly recommend.

I’ll start with the food. It was good. I expected a little more variety being in a city the size of Lufkin but it was good. One of the reasons I continually choose GC is the pot roast. I didn’t see any here. Maybe that’s a dinner item. I’d have liked to had some bbq chicken too. Another one of my GC favs. The service was great. The table attendant kept the table cleared and made sure we had plenty to drink. I don’t like that they don’t give a full set of utensils in the little bag. I didn’t quite understand that. One thing I did like was getting my drink on the way in. I haven’t been to another GC that does that. The restaurant was very clean. The dishes I picked up were clean. One thing that was a little off putting was the condition of the dining room. I noticed torn seats and seats with the cover coming off. The paint on the trim looked amateur at best. It’s due for a remodel bad. It’s not enough to make me want to go elsewhere but my first impression was that it probably wasn’t going to be good. But hey, you can’t judge a book by its cover. If nothing else, the staff deserve a nicer place to work. Like I said before the table attendant was great, but she wasn’t the only staff I encountered. On the way in a staff member was also entering the store and held the door for me and my wife. He made his way to the kitchen so I’m assuming he was kitchen staff. Also, the grill attendant was fast and very professional. He served me with a smile. I appreciated that. I’d recommend this place as a place to get a good meal with good service.

Always good food!! The meatloaf was outstanding!!! The liver and onions was great!! I wish that the Golden Coral in Huntsville was still around. We need one in Livingston as well. It's a great place to eat at a reasonable price!!

The whole place is getting a facelift (they tore down all the walls, added new paint), so it’s looking a lot more appealing on the inside, but they’ve also painted the outside. Nice new fireplace on the left side of the restaurant as well. Waitress was attentive and gave us refills regularly as well as took dirty plates. Food is the same, it’s good, you’re getting what you paid for. Just two issues. The carpet is very dirty and old, and there were stains and food that had fallen from the stations visible, so I hope that gets removed and replaced with new flooring. The restrooms also need a remodel, they always have an odor and are dated. I would recommend it a lot more now with the renovations taking place.

This is Golden Corral so my expectations were not high. However, this location is clearly one of their best locations. Food is hot and management is very responsive to customers. They need more restroom space for women and that is typical of most restaurants. Parking is adequate and I didn't feel in danger of anything. Like I said, this location is clearly one of the better stores.

Lufkin's Golden Corral Buffet &Grill isn't that bad at all. The service is pretty friendly, and the areas for eating were overall clean. The restaurant had a pleasant smell. I made sure to provide some pictures. I'd recommend this restaurant if you just don't feel like cooking that day or just want a little outing with family and friends. Nothing beats a good meal and a pleasant environment; it's a 4 out of 5 for me. Hopefully this helps, folks!

We went during lunchtime. The food was good. The place was crowded. The total for 2 adults with 2 drinks was just under$42 before a tip was left for our wait staff... expensive yes, but I chalk it up to at least I dint have to cook and wash, dry and put away dishes too!!!

The food was good all but the steak. It was like a dry roast. Place was clean and organized. The waitress we had would only pick up plates. We had to go up front to fill our own drinks. She was sweet just never came by until we got up to go to the buffet. We would return to see the plates gone and our drinks empty. She finally asked if we wanted drinks when we were all done eating. Look. It's a Golden Corral. Buffet, Southern style cuisine, basic food. Desserts are not good, even by basic southern standard. If you like Golden Corral, this is a decent one. But the food in Golden Corral is just subpar to a good local spot. The people here were really nice locals, no shots at them as they are some really awesome hard working people.

Food and servive was good, I am sick of people letting their kids play phones or ipads as loud as they can! And now it is not even kids, had a guy right behind us and lady next to us playing phones loud! Come to have a nice dinner and not have things blaring all around us.

There was water dripping from the ceiling on to me while I was eating. I was scared it was going to get in my food and drink.

So crowded. Lots of fried food. Salad bar good. So many choices of food. If you're looking for healthy foods, limited choices. But for a blow your diet kind of day, enjoy. Food kept fresh.

I witnessed one of the worst bosses in golden corral today... right between the cash registers and the buffet area. I manager was blessing out. A half a dozen ish employee's... i didn't stand around and listen to what was being said but I promise you he was not giving them a good job, talk. That's a cause for her immediate termination, nobody in a supervisory position should ever bless out employee's right there in the middle of the floor.... since moving here a couple of months ago, this is the second time i've been in here apparently, it's management that is the reason that this golden corral is not up to acceptable expectations.... i've never had any issues with table staff... they've always been quite pleasant and attentive, but not overly... To eat here is grossly overpriced... I did alert the sweet lady at the salad bar to remove the cold shrimp... i have no idea what was wrong with it, but it was nasty.. i don't waste food, i did not clean my plates, the food just didn't taste, right and was barely warm. I've been to a lot of golden corrals, in many states and locations and I like them... this one gets a thumb down...

One of the other servers was talking to our server and I guess she thought we didn't know Spanish and was talking crap about me and my husband. They both went to eat their lunch while we were still eating and did not come back to check on us or refill our drinks. Asked the grill operator for a medium well steak told to check back in 10 - 15 min. Waited 25 and went back just to be told it would be another 10- 15 min. At this point I was just done so we left. My husband and I will not be returning to this restraunt after driving an hour from Livingston to come and be greatly disappointed.

We went on a Sunday between 2-3 thinking it be not as busy. We were wrong!! There was no place to sit & people were having to hold their drinks while waiting on a table. My husband had gone in ahead of us to get a table. When I went to pay our bill I was told that I couldn’t go the way that I had started walking. I explained that my husband was on the other side. She let me go and then about 5 minutes later she came over and told us that we had to move to a different table. She had another family with her who didn’t bother to wait for us to move before pushing in and sitting there stuff down. About 15 minutes later they all got up and moved to another table/another section. She came to our table asking where they had gone. We told her that we didn’t keep up with others!!! The price is horrible!! Over $44 for the two of us. We use them as a special meal since we can’t afford this price very often!

Golden Coral is what it is – a buffet. It's not going to blow you away with gourmet food, but it does the job if you're craving variety. There's a solid selection of comfort foods, salads, and desserts. It's a good option when you're feeding a crowd with different tastes, and it's nice to have the all-you-can-eat option every now and then.

Was not impressed. Staff was ready to go home and not very attentive. Asked manager why they did not give military diacounts and he said that its because they give us free meals on veteran's day. Then the bourbon chicken tasted like tacos and the cheesecake was sour and not good at all. The manager seemed overwhelmed and like he was ready to go home as well. For 40 dollars for two people it was not really worth it.

It is to expensive for the quality of food. Lufkin golden corral is not that good. The fried shrimp was obviously frozen. The squash was greasy. The maccaroni is box cheese. The rolls were over done. Everything reminds me of a tv dinner reheated. The service was good. Everyone was friendly. And everything seemed clean.

Let's just be honest Golden Corral used to be much better. This location is terrible, it's to expensive for the slop they offer. Everything is flavorless, drinks are usually flat, utensils dirty and for the love of God why prop the bathroom door open ??? You can smell everything that happens in there from your table. Waitstaff is terrible my husband had to go over to our waiter and ask for a refill and our waiter told him he had to take his cup to the front for a refill because they didn't have his soda in the machine that was at the wait station. Food handlers need better training I watched the woman work the salad bar take her gloved hand (that she had been touching everything with) swipe salad dressing out of a bucket into the salad bar. This place needs to do better.

Went to GC in Lufkin, ordered the buffet, drank my tea, and immediately had to run to restroom to throw up with a burning sensation in stomach. Went back out and tried to eat and when I drank the tea instant burning pain and had to throw up. My vomit had foam in it like dish detergent. I had to run outside because I felt sick for the fifth, made it to the parking lot before I was sick again. Drove back home and now I feel fine. I am calling health department in the morning to report this.

I went to hve lunch at the Golden Corral in Lufkin Tx. I went an fixed my plate . Sit dwn to eat an noticed a small roach was on my dinner roll. I asked the waitress to get the manager. And she came and got it off the dinner roll and squeezed the roach with her bare hand🤮.I took photos and a video it wont let me upload the video of her squeezing the roach in her hand. Of this incident that happened today.9/14/21 This is twice this has happened to me. She apologized and refunded my money! This is horrible and unexceptionable! This restaurant needs to have pest control the health department come in an do a complete inspection immediately! I will NEVER eat at this Golden Corral again. 🤢🤮
