Was able to get us in fast (group of 20 for basketball tourney) server was great!!! Food came out fast, could've used lil more seasoning but overall great place! atmosphere was terrific, pictures and cool things to look at everywhere
What a great experience! We left saying, “why don’t we come here more often?!” EPIC Jose was, well EPIC! Our overall experience at the kitchen table was wonderful. The kitchen was immaculate (SO clean & organized, staff were beyond welcoming and friendly and the food was delicious. We were here to celebrate my mom’s birthday and there were such fun ways to recognize and highlight her birthday. Would recommend this place if you’re looking for a professional, clean and tasty restaurant!
Logan our waiter was phenomenal! Request to sit in his section! Food has never disappointed! Love all the different rooms, makes the atmosphere so much more cozy.
Extraordinary experience!! Each item feeds 3-4 people and very tasty; my group(5) shared the lasagna, fettuccine alfredo, and spaghetti and meatballs. Service is amazing; Jose and the other staff members are charismatic, polite, patient and above all attentive. The restaurant is deceivingly large and has plenty of space for large groups. The decor is something to check out as it displays lots of Italian history with some quirky and humorous elements sprinkled about. Go with family or a date the experience alone is one of a kind!
Josesito was amazing waiter Food delicious Very recommended Italian cuisine
Best Italian restaurant in Minnesota. Good food. Best customer service.
Our server, epic Jose was amazing, kept everything lively and lighthearted for me and my family making it a incredibly enjoyable experience that I would love to experience again along with a authentic atmosphere that really brought a nice touch to our meal. It felt like a true Italian experience and I’m incredibly happy I came here and I recommend it to everyone and anyone.
Updating my review from 4-5 stars because I had a great experience last night. The chicken saltimboca entree is back on the menu (!!!). They also had some great dinner specials for cheaper pricing - we bought a 3 meals for $35 special that included one entree, one pasta and salad for 3 which was a great deal and still had tons of leftovers. Epic Jose was our waiter - he’s the heart and soul of this restaurant and calls everyone family. Superb service. Happy to see things are headed back in the right direction at this location. We heard they are under new ownership.
OH. MY. GOODNESS!!! We had to stop in at around 8:45 or so for some food. Here's the review: To start, the food was great. The Fettuccine Alfredo was splendid, and the garlic bread (more on this in a bit) was great. The staff was SO friendly!!! Toga was at the "front desk," and when he was leading us to our table, he asked about my custom sweatshirt, and he loved it! Our waiter (I forgot his name, unfortunately 😔) was extremely friendly and was interested in my passion for rc aviation! The best part of the service, you ask? Our waiter gave us garlic bread on him!!! Also an extremely nice atmosphere, there was art and photos everywhere about Italy and other Italian things, still extremely warm and nice I hope someone found this helpful 😃
We had great service and of course the food is delicious. As always your appetite is bigger than your stomach. The servings are generous, even when it says feeds about 5, I would say more than that. For our birthday celebration we got free ice cream. :)
Authentic italian fare! Family style servings. We were too full after the appetizer and their spaghetti was humongous! T'was a bit pricey but you get what you paid for. Alli our server was fantastic!
I'm not quite sure why but, this place feels like it's not part of disappointing society. We got a few dishes, spaghetti and meatballs, shrimp Florentine, and stuffed shells. All were good (I really liked the shells stuffing). Many words I could use to try and describe but it is something you should experience. We could not finish it all. Recommending to anyone who wants a good experience meaning good food!
Awesome experience! Epic Jose made dinner so much more enjoyable. Not only is he very polite, respectful, energetic, and attentive. But he’s someone that you will positively remember for a very long time. Plenty of parking outside and seating inside. Great ambiance, very clean, and they have a great deal going on right now. Highly recommend checking this place out!
Such a fun dinner. The food was absolutely incredible. I grew up going to buca a lot but I haven’t been in like 10 years… it tasted just as good as I remember. We ordered Spaghetti and Meatballs, chicken parm, spicy chicken rigatoni (my favorite) and the apple and Gorgonzola salad. One of the little ones ordered a kids Alfredo and it took a second to come after the family style dishes arrived, our server Logan was one of the best servers I have ever had. He was transparent, kind, knowledgeable and went above and beyond. The Alfredo was taking a bit longer than he originally quoted, so he said that she gets a sundae on the house. When this Sunday arrived the entire table gasped. It was the most beautiful extravagant loaded Sunday I’ve ever seen. It was HUGE. The whole table ate it. The fact that he went out of his way to make her smile and feel special after having to wait when everyone else was digging in was incredible. The artwork and atmosphere is so awesome I could look around for hours. 11/10 experience and again, Logan- thank YOU!!!!!
Kelly was an absolute GEM! Very attentive with a warm and friendly vibe. She made great recommendations and knew exactly when to come check on us. Wonderful conversation that makes you feel at home! The food was amazing! And the Tiramisu is made IN house! I loved the atmosphere and the friendly staff. Couldn't have asked for a better night out.
Jose provided exceptional service from the moment we were seated until the end of our meal. He greeted us with a warm and welcoming attitude that immediately made us feel comfortable. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and took the time to explain different options, answer our questions, and offer thoughtful recommendations based on our preferences. His suggestions were spot-on and really enhanced our dining experience. Throughout the meal, Jose was attentive without being overbearing. He checked in regularly to make sure everything was going well, refilled drinks promptly, and made sure our food arrived exactly as ordered. Even when the restaurant was busy, he remained calm, professional, and genuinely kind, which made a big difference. What stood out most was Jose’s positive attitude and clear dedication to great customer service. He made sure every detail was taken care of and went above and beyond to ensure we had an enjoyable experience. Because of Jose, our visit was memorable, and we left feeling well taken care of. I would absolutely recommend Jose to anyone dining here and would gladly request him again on our next visit.
I celebrated my birthday here on Tuesday and the service was amazing! Especially our waitress, Kellz—she was so kind, thoughtful, and went out of her way to make my birthday dinner feel special. Thank you!
Went to Buca for the first time with my family and had Epic Jose as our server. He was attentive, funny, and a great server all around! The food was delicious and I loved the decor! Will definitely be back :)
Logan was our server and he was absolutely fabulous. He went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful experience and that we were able to get exactly what we wanted. He was friendly, always checking on us and overall just really good at his job. Thanks, Logan
The staff here is amazing! They were so kind and friendly! Extra props to Eoic Jose who made my daughter's birthday very special! We all had a great time.
This was my first time here,we celebrated my Niece birthday. The inside was so beautiful!! The food was delicious you get so much food. Love it!!! The service was on point very friendly, made sure everyone had everything and always ask if you need refills. I will definitely come back.
A little on the spendy side but a good place to go to for the money. Tons of atmosphere on the walls and unique rooms (there is tons of them) and food tastes amazing ! Our waiter Jose was hilarious and helpful and made it fun for my mother’s birthday ! Will definitely be back
Our server logan (aka toni aka rigatoni aka rigatoni penne noodle) was AMAZING!!! He made the experience so much fun and enjoyable and overall a great experience! I will definitely be coming back soon! Shoutout Logan 😛✌️ you are a queen diva foreva Also Fernando in the kitchen made our experience 20 times better!! Thank you Fernando can’t wait to see everyone next time!
Me and my friends went here for dinner and it was such a good experience! The staff was SOOO nice and welcoming, especially epic Jose!! He was so friendly and we had a great conversation with him! Will definitely come back for more yummy food!!
Epic Jose was so sweet he gave us free dessert and he was extremely interactive and made us feel so welcomed, and that was only how we were treated the atmosphere was incredible and extremely lively. The food was on another level iv never had such good spaghetti and this thing called the Pappardelle Bolognese is something I highly recommend. I would say this place is a 10/10 and I would definitely come here again!
Hats off to Ms. Danielle for remaining calm, cool & collected. You carry dignity well for yourself and those around you. Also, shout out to Logan, our waiter who was calm and nimble creating a great experience in a hectic environment. Our family of 5, including my elder parents, joined Bucca on Christmas Eve. Appreciate your kindness as we found spare chairs for my folks while waiting for our table. We were seated within 5 minutes of our 7pm reservation. We received our appetizers & salads in a timely manner. The wait time for beverages and entrees took longer, which was expected, considering that Bucca was accommodating numerous online orders. The baked items were served hot, right out of the oven - very flavorful. One suggestion -- please consider eliminating the online order option earlier in the day to accommodate your dinner clientele who are on property.
Buca's in Maple Grove is one of my family's go to spots when we are hungry and ready to eat. Family style dining so don't come here if you don't have an appetite and a little extra money. Things can add up quickly but to me it is worth it. The food has always been tasty and the wine list is adequate. The desserts are wonderful. Fun place to go, especially if it is your birthday. I love when the staff sing to you. Very festive and I recommend the Maple.Grove location as they are consistent, helpful, and ready to serve you and your family !
The waiter made the food taste better than it was. He was awesome but the chicken parm was lacking. Would've been disappointed if we ordered door dash but the smells+ decor+ funnyguy= great time.
When we arrived there was no hostess. We waited a few minutes until I asked the bartender if we seat ourselves. She then got someone to seat us. The food was pretty good. Calamari was bland. Spicy shrimp was good. It was quiet and staff were friendly. Good experience with the family. Nice place to go if you can either eat a lot or you're with a group.
Been a few years since we've been here. Great pasta, salad, drinks and dessert. Service from Epic Jose was impressive. They have deleted several menu favorite items and only have family sized small or large options now. The red sangria was delicious as always. The dessert we had was massive.
Solid Italian place for groups. I like to say that the dishes are not chef-inspured. But they're common Italuan dishes that folks will know, with a couple of things for people looking for something different. We called ahead and had a group of over 50 people. They had space, a menu that helped everyone order, and the staff to make it all work! It wasn't perfect. Some folks got more food than they ordered. 😁 But nobody went hungry and the price was fantastic! There was an issue with the original plan, but the manager and her staff adjusted and got everyone fed in a really short window of time. The group was split up because some folks were still traveling, some girls were playing in a soccer game that was postponed for rain, and some folks were caught in traffic because flooding was closing some roads. It didn't matter that the group filed in over the course of an hour or that we took up a lot of their resources. We were all sat together, and as I said before, everyone was fed, everyone was happy, and the group of girls went on to win a national championship in soccer only a couple of days later! It's not a stretch to say that the girls and the families will have fond memories of the night they ate at Buca!
What an Amazing experience!! Made reservations for my husband and I, for a "Date Night". We sat at the "Chef's Table", in the kitchen. It was cool to see them work. We were offered a complimentary appetizer. All the food was really good, clean kitchen, friendly staff. Very expensive! Thank Goodness I pre- bought Gift Certificates through Groupon.
Not as good as my memories of it: It has been at least 20 years since I've been to Bucca and my memories were far better than our experience yesterday. I remember being awed by the punches of flavor, the quality, fresh ingredients and the friendly staff. We recently dined and had a much different experience. The ingredients were OK, the flavors didn't pack a punch and iur server was slow despite a very light crowd on a Friday night. The capresse appetizer had generous slices of anemic flavorless tomatoes alongside chewy fresh mozzarella. The basil leaves were good. The dining space is still as vibrant and fun as I remember though. To clarify, it is not bad; it's just not as special as it once was.
Our 1st visit to Maple grove location. Service was slow our entire visit. We had arrived at 11 am and seated once all had arrived. The restaurant was minimally busy with only a few parties present. We had to wait for Staff to appear and then ask repeatedly for what we wanted. Children served Shirley Temples w/o cherries, had to ask and wait for them. Daughter informed Staff it was my birthday dinner yet we eventually dressed to skate singing for me w/o them... then they arrived to sing once we were done. Won't return to this location! Had me 40th & 50th at your St Paul location...and all was grand especially for such a super crowded restaurant both times.
The Prosciutto Stuffed Chicken was a favorite but it's seemed quite salty the last few times. Then we decided to try it again last Fall and this time it lacked flavor. Even the pesto sauce looked less green compared to before. They are a franchise so I'm surprised the food has been so inconsistent. We really loved it the first 2 times we had it about 4 years ago. The other items we had were fine, better than Olive Garden but I wouldn't consider it worth the money they charge. For some items the portion sizes have got smaller too. The colossal brownie is HUGE! Two of us ate majority of it but if you are craving something sweet and don't want to eat it all yourself then I think 4 people could share this. I would pay the $20 for it, plus it's kind of a wow factor if you wanted to treat someone to it because of its size. Or sign up for emails and get a free one on your birthday! Love that they give free bread. I personally like the vinegar and oil for dipping versus the oil and seasonings. Typically, the servers are great. They check on us, plates are removed from the table, efficient. We've only had one bad service there. Also we love the atmosphere. It's so much fun. It's the main reason we'd want to bring house guests here but we struggle because of how the food has changed.
Second time coming here. Was blown away the first time by the great food. This time was WAY different. The food was fine. It seemed like it was less quality this time. The prices were OUTRAGEOUS! I like eating at nice places (and hole in the walls) and I am willing to pay $$$$ for great food but this is just not up to par. $24 for a bruschetta appetizer. Yes, it was big and extravagant looking but absolutely not worth that price. $37 for 3 thin chicken breasts with capers, prosciutto, and butter sauce! The chicken carbonara was decent, but it had maybe half of a chicken breast on it. The atmosphere is fun and there were 3 birthday celebrations while we were there. Honestly, I won't be back solely because the prices went up and the quality went down. Olive Garden would have been a better choice.
My family was looking to have a nice dinner with delicious food and saw the family specials online. We have visited the St Paul location many many years ago, so our expectations were high. Plenty of parking. There was no wait and we were seated right away. The worker I believe his name was John, was outstanding! The manager was also helpful. John was running around busy. He brought us our water, he even made additional trips to fill our cups. He brought out our food and checked if we needed anything after. He cleared clutter from our table, brought us napkins, bussed our table and brought us To-go containers. He was prompt and hardworking. They compensated us with a delicious dessert to make up for an issue with our food, which we appreciated very much. Very disappointed with the server, she was unengaged which resulted in bad service. John really saved the night and this review.
Salad was good but the pasta had very little meat. Several of our group of 10 orders were wrong and had to be redone. Would only go back for an event. The decor was very busy. Not a blank wall in the entire place.
I will start out I loved our waiter. He is attentive without being annoying and has wonderful personality! We came in on New Years night, 5 of us. We ordered 3 things- manicotti, prosciutto stuffed chicken and lasagna. The bread that was brought out to start off with was very good, tender with a nice crust. Sadly the entrees were lacking in the same quality. The manicotti was on the runny side. The prosciutto stuffed chicken was dry with little flavor, eating it you couldn’t tell it had prosciutto. The pesto sauce was also lack luster with little flavor. The lasagna was okay but for an Italian restaurant I expected more. My husband and I left very disappointed considering we have found the food very good in years past. This is an hour plus drive for us, not sure we will do that again. Keep the waiter. We’ve had him in the past and love him.
For as pricey as this restaurant is, because everything is served family-style, the one thing I can say is that our server was outstanding. We went to Buca for my birthday, and to be entirely to honest? Half the food arrived lukewarm the other half, barely hot enough to be consumed. Our appetizer, the Calamari, was actually the one decent thing that arrived hot. Dessert is always good, if overpriced. So, all in all? Buca is overpriced, and the food underwhelming... Go for the service and the appetizers. Otherwise? Skip it.
I ordered through Uber eats. My food order was accurate the only thing missing was napkins and utensils I requested in the order. I ordered the spicy rigatoni, spaghetti and meatball, and Broccoli. The first thing I noticed when I took a bite of the spicy rigatoni was that it was extremely garlicy. I tried the broccoli and the garlic flavor was over powering and burnt tasting. Overall the meal had way too much Garlic and both pasta dishes lacked flavor. The broccoli is over priced on Uber eats. $20 for broccoli and I couldn't even eat it, this was a waste of money.
Sub-par experience. The beginning of the dinner rush and you are already out of lasagna? My wife and I ordered a meal each, she got hers and I waited 30 minutes waiting for mine. We ended up watching each other eat. The food was lukewarm and the cheese on the food was hard, not melted. I’m not coming back. At $50 per entree, I should be getting more than than what we got.
Note: On 12/8 I contacted Buca through their website to discuss, but haven’t heard anything. So I’m leaving this review instead. On Saturday 12/6, six of us went to the Maple Grove location to celebrate my wife and my 30th anniversary. To summarize, it was a 3-hour comedy of errors orchestrated by a sarcastic, inattentive server. The sarcasm might have been amusing if everything hadn’t been going wrong and my wife and I weren’t visibly annoyed. At one point our son (who has been a server for almost 10 years), commented, “I feel like we’re on a hidden camera tv show.” I guess we shouldn’t have been surprised when we walked past our server in the lobby on our way out and he didn’t thank or even acknowledge us. We considered several restaurants before choosing Buca for our special event. The atmosphere was fun and the food was good (as usual), but we were disappointed with the overall experience. You can do better than this.
We were in on New Year's Eve. We did have a reservation and we did get seated close to the time we made. We were in a corner booth that was really small. It was just my friend and I. It took 15 minutes before our waitress came over. I asked a question about the price of the drinks and she could not answer that. She came back with our drinks and we had questions about the menu since it was just the two of us. She was not very helpful. I know it was a busy night but they should have been fully staffed and be knowledgeable on the menu. I don't believe that we will be back to the restaurant in the near future.
Never have we been so disappointed in our time than we were on Thanksgiving 2025. We were brought to 1 table that had not been cleaned and then had to go back to the lobby to figure out where they were going to put us. Service was slow and I felt very inattentive. We put in our order and received our starter, then much later our salad with our cheese bread and then another (what seemed like) 20-30 minutes we finally received the 2 main dishes. We all wished we had gotten our bread at the same time we got the main dishes. We ordered chicken fettuccine and a baked rigatoni. The food was not hot but luke-warm and pretty flavorless. For the money we spent on this dinner we were expecting a little higher quality. We have all agreed this will be the last time we choose Buca for any meal.
Just bought a $40 pizza to go that supposedly feeds 5. This barely feeds 2 people. Was cold and put in 2 boxes. The taste was bad as well. This photo is one half of a $40 pizza. The box is a typical medium size box from other pizza chains. What a joke. You should be embarrassed and ashamed Buca. I would not recommend this place at all.
I'm very disappointed! I love Buca so I decided to cater my Christmas dinner for 20 people by ordering one of their Celebration packages. I was told to pick up my order at 1pm. When I arrived, they had not even put my order together yet, and I proceeded to stand around and wait until 2:20pm. When I got home, guests had already started arriving and the rigatoni dish was dry - not enough sauce - and hardly had any sausage in it. I called the store the Monday after the Holiday and was told I would be compensated in some way and that the store manager would call me back...I still haven't received a call back. VERY poor customer service! VERY disappointed!!!
Had reservations for 1pm for a larger group (10) we showed up and was greeted by an empty host stand and no one waiting. We waited about 2-3 minutes until we were greeted. I let the hostess know we have reservations at 1pm. She brought us to the back and asked if we were with another part whose table she brought us to, I let her know that was wrong. We waited since there was confusion on where to sit us in an empty restaurant. Waiting another minute or so in the hallway we were finally sat in the “pope” room and were notified that the iPads were causing confusion. We sat down, and didn’t get our waiters name he went over the menus and we were discussing what items we wanted as we had questions about some chicken items. I turned To the lunch menu just looking for pictures and was met by a rude response that they do NOT serve lunch on the weekend. I let the waiter know I wasnt ordering lunch as I was just looking for pictures of items. He went to get waters and let me know AGAIN that I should not be looking at the lunch menu. I let Him know we wanted to know what type of chicken was served (bone in, boneless) and was met with an “oh everything is chicken breast”. We all felt very uncomfortable and unwelcome. We ended up getting up and leaving the table and restaurant not even drinking the water. It was all of our first time there and we probably will not go back to this location.
I picked up a lasagna to go and was very disappointed. The portion was tiny and extremely dry, with little to no flavor. Honestly, the best part of the meal was the bread. The lasagna itself tasted horrible and felt like a complete waste of money. I would have gone back to address the issue, but it was below zero outside and not worth driving back. On top of that, I waited more than five minutes in the store before anyone even came out to tell me the order wasn’t ready. Overall, a very poor experience.
I ordered the Thanksgiving catering for 5 people ($160) and was really disappointed with the quality. The turkey and stuffing were extremely dry, and the stuffing was supposed to be ‘spicy Italian sausage’ but had no sausage at all. Everything tasted very bland, including the vegetables and gravy. For the price, I expected much better flavor and quality. This meal unfortunately did not meet expectations and we would not recommend.
