I was referred to The Monarch Club by my friend Ravan who is a traveling bartender there, and wow, what an incredible experience! I went for the first time on Friday Oct 24th and loved it so much that I came back again on Sunday. The rooftop is absolutely stunning — the views are spectacular and the atmosphere is so classy yet comfortable. On Friday, Jenny made me my very first Espresso Martini (which was amazing!), and on Sunday, Megan made another one that was just as delicious. To top it all off, Sean surprised us with a champagne toast for my birthday, which made the evening extra special. A birthday to remember, for sure! The Monarch Club is a must if you're in the city. Reservations are also a must. It was our first trip there, definitely not our last! The minute you walk in you can feel the pride in the heritage of this club. The drinks were perfectly balanced, service was top notch (Greg is the absolute best), also, can't forget Lizzie who was there decorating for Christmas, everything looked amazing. The intimate environment draws people together, we met two amazing groups of people last night (Despina & her crew). The surroundings encourage togetherness but you could easily have a private romantic evening. The roof top decks (3) are beautiful with fantastic views of the city. The perfect place for a classy/romantic evening.

First thing you need to Know: if you come here On a weekend night, you cannot be in a rush. Especially with the outdoor terrace, all 25 tables will be full. It is reservation only however, The poor servers are running ragged outside with essentially no assistance from Anyone. They are hustling back and forth, and you’ll be lucky to get in and out in less than an hour and a half at least. Our server was so friendly, but I could tell She was in the weeds. The drinks were tasty. Also, the chairs are without cushions and they get uncomfortable after a while.

My friend and me went to celebrate her birthday. It is a very beautiful place and the view is amazing, the weather was good that day . We had charcuterie board and fries, both yummy. Besides this, she a had a passion fruit drink without alcohol and I had a Garden Inferno or Inferno garden , but anyway , I didn’t like this drink at all. Champagne was perfect! I recommend this place and I will be back with my husband !

He is always in good spirits and makes you feel as if you are his most important customer. The views of Comerica Park and the rest of the city are spectacular. The monarch club is the penthouse with great views of the city. There are patios and some igloos in winter weather. The atmosphere is very much a grab a drink after work crowd. There may have even been some people working from the bar, fun and professional. There is a good variety of drink options and some great options for non-alcoholic liquids as well. There are some appetizers to join the table. The truffle fries are good and I really liked the pear and pesto flat bread pizza.

TMC lived it to its hype and expectations. The space has a great ambiance and surreal vibe. They did acknowledge my special occasion as I mentioned it on Resy, and we were complimented by Prosecco. The Monarch Club Detroit is the perfect venue for an absolutely magical night! My colleagues and I were all visiting from out of town and were given the warmest Detroit welcome to the Monarch Club from the Executive Chef. The Chef, along with the rest of the staff were incredibly accommodating and allowed us to have the most delightful evening. The Monarch Club is beautifully decorated on the inside, and the outside has the most stunning views of the city of Detroit. The building is historic and has such interesting architecture. We all enjoyed old fashions and really loved the food that we tried: truffle fries, burrata, lamb meatballs, pork belly Bao buns, flatbread and more! It was all delicious. This is the perfect venue for a date, a small gathering or a private event. 10 out of 10 recommend!

Top floor of the element hotel. The design of the rooms is very upscale with lots of leather and seating arranged to promote conversation. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. Ordered the whitefish dip, buratta, margarita flatbread, and truffle fries. I did not eat any due to being celiac gluten free but the group I was with gave the food high marks. Drinks were expensive but very well made. Each one was delicious and well balanced. Bathroom is two stalls, clean, and well maintained. Was disappointed that for such a nice place they had the lowest quality toilet paper but thick well made paper towel. Views were great and outdoor seating overlooking comerica park with firepits. Would be worth it to book a reservation.

Monarch Club is my new favorite place in Detroit. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The drinks are also quite tasty and in general reasonably priced. But it's really the views from the rooftop patios that are the draw. Explore to see different vantage points of the city and go on Friday night to see the Tigers fireworks. It's really something to watch the sun set as well.

I had dinner with a dear friend at the Monarch Club. It was great. What made the experience and the meal extraordinary was the Server. Danielle was friendly, attentive, charming and engaging. She made sure we had everything we needed with a smile. It was very hot that day and she went from the outside roof top dining back to us on the inside with her winning personality. Went in on a Sunday as a walk-in! They didn’t have any servers available on the left side so we just ordered a bottle of wine at the bar and some food and had to expo our own plates and get our own glasses, which was fine. It was nice and peaceful but host was all over the place. They need to have two hosts or something just so the service could improve some more. I love going here and I will be back but for view and food! Charcuterie board was good and flatbread was amazing. Meatballs were great just a little too dry!

Recommend the Maple-Apple Bourbon, and if the have the “special” with bourbon and cocoa undertones. Everytime I come here I have a fantastic experience. From the moment I step off the elevator to when I say my goodbye, it’s amazing. The Whitefish Patè is excellent. The blood orange sorbet is rich. But what blows everything away are the phenomenal bar staff. These bartenders pull from a wide range of experience and a wealth of knowledge to serve you something you didn’t even know you wanted. They all carry good conversation as well. Katrel is probably by far the best bartender in the City of Detroit and The Monarch Club is one of the best bars in the world.

One of the best views in all of Detroit. Reservations are suggested amd usually needed to get past the door. I didn't make the time to eat or drink, but the atmosphere is superior.

Had an intimate rooftop wedding at monarch club last week and I must say they went above and beyond. The rooftop views were amazing, and the setup was on point. All the vendors worked flawless together and I couldn’t be happier. The event coordinator had everything just how I asked and when I needed a few referrals she didn’t disappoint. (Photographer and suit vendor) We got to try some of the new menu food/drinks, delicious. 🤤 Try the Artichoke beignet, it was my personal favorite. Was able to rent out the additional space upstairs for hair and makeup, dress changing. Can’t wait to see all the beautiful photos.

Our server Parah was amazing!!! Our order didn’t take long at all and she served with a smile! Great atmosphere and small bites! If you are looking for a cool roof top place for pics and great conversation, this is the place. Most of the time it’s reservations only so make sure you book a week or so in advance.

We visited The Monarch Club last Saturday and it was amazing! Excellent service, friendly, and gorgeous views of the Detroit skyline. It may be a bit frustrating getting in, but you'll appreciate that it's not overly crowded once you do. To clear up any confusion you first wait inside the lobby at the Element Hotel to add your name to the list. They will text you when your spot has opened then you just proceed to the elevator and go to the PH level. You will be greeted by a host and you just give the phone #. While waiting I suggest Queens Bar, The Brakeman, or The Evening Room, all within close walking distance. A must see for visitors and locals alike. Enjoy!

My sister and I had such a lovely time sipping classically crafted cocktails, indulging in their wine list (some crispy, dry Michigan whites or the reds from Detroit Vineyards would be GREAT to see on the wine list though!! LOVED the glassware!), snacking, lingering in the dimly lit, intimate bar area, tower, and amazing rooftop verandas and we finished our visit off with an espresso. I loved the vibe, our server was so lovely, and we made some memories for sure. I can't wait to swing back in for a couple solo mid week cocktails and to bring out of town visitors to wow them with the views and show off the city from the top. Really awesome spot!!

I’ve come to the Monarch club a couple times, and each time has always been a good experience. The drinks are great and the views are even better. The last time I went, our bartender, Tyler, went above and beyond and really made sure that my party’s experience was one to remember. She was extremely attentive and was always ready to make sure our drinks were always filled. Would definitely recommend coming for a cute bar/ small plates vibe, and again, the views are unbeatable.

We had such a memorable experience at this rooftop bar! At first, the hostess let us know there wasn’t any availability, which was a little disappointing since we were celebrating my best friend’s 50th birthday. But then Gregory stepped in and completely turned the evening around. He went out of his way to accommodate me and my two best friends, making sure we had a table and felt taken care of. Gregory’s service was exceptional—warm, attentive, and genuinely thoughtful. He made the night feel special for the birthday girl, and for all of us, and we couldn’t have asked for a better host. Could not have had a better night out in Detroit. Your experience starts with your first interaction at a bar like this and Sandra at reception was fantastic. Incredibly friendly and got us upstairs right away. Thomas was excellent and set us up with a perfect table on the deck. Our waitress Miriam was attentive, courteous, and very informative about the menu and very helpful with some of the selections for the evening. All the small bites we tried were prepared perfectly and the bartender was incredibly skillful with the preparation of this evening's drinks.

Last night was my first time at the Monarch Club. And all I have to say is wow. The vibe, ambiance, atmosphere. Everything was so nice, inside and outside. I love the rooftop set up, fire pits. We had a small VIP section, velvet couches, cute tables. It was definitely an experience. Our waiter had on the cutest Blue blazer, and he made us feel so welcome. We had a group of about 15 and everyone was catered to. The food was really good. The truffle fries are a must have with the sauce on the side so good. The flat bread was different and delicious. The drinks were amazing, they put so much detail into everything. Thanks for a wonderful first experience. We will be back.

The location is great, you have the option to sit outside or inside. We chose to be indoors because it was just too hot but zero regrets. I had the tainted love cocktail and my cousin had the superfly, which were both amazing!!! I also had an off the menu drink which needs to be on the menu ASAP. Michael made me “The Tickle”. Literally the most amazing & super refreshing drink. Like literally perfect. Make it a permanent drink immediately especially for summer time. If Michael is unavailable ask for Megan because she’s just as amazing. The crab cake was decent but the drinks are definitely the best.

I had the whitefish pate. I’d say it was okay. It had the consistency of tuna fish salad, which wasn’t what I was expecting. The service was slow and a bit disinterested. It took a long time to get drinks- and it was pretty empty. The food somehow came out before my draft beer (and it’s not like the food was quick). I’d be afraid to be there on a busy night. The other thing is the waitress informed us that only three menu items were available. I said I was hoping to have either the pate or the bacon and she told me that they do have those in addition to the other three things- that was strange.

The location is great, you have the option to sit outside or inside. We chose to be indoors because it was just too hot but zero regrets. I had the tainted love cocktail and my cousin had the superfly, which were both amazing!!! I also had an off the menu drink which needs to be on the menu ASAP. Michael made me “The Tickle”. Literally the most amazing & super refreshing drink. Like literally perfect. Make it a permanent drink immediately especially for summer time. If Michael is unavailable ask for Megan because she’s just as amazing. The crab cake was decent but the drinks are definitely the best.

Nice spot recently opened (May 2019) to enjoy the sun while having a drink. I always look for rooftops when i travel and this is one of the very few i found in Detroit. Tip: get there early as soon as they open if you want to guarantee youself a table, they tend to get busy most of the times

A high-end rooftop bar with beautiful views of the city as well an outdoor terrace with a fireplace. There's no standing room option here, so reservations are a must.

Gregory = the MVP of our Monarch visit. Attentive, knowledgeable, and such a joy to talk to. That Detroit history drop? Loved it. Give that man a raise!

Our wonderful server Suki was very welcoming and delightful to talk to. She’s a wonderful conversationalist and a true Detroiter at heart. She recommended drinks based on our needs and even satisfied our craving for something sweet since they didn’t offer dessert but she arrived with a sweet foamy drink called “Violet Intentions” which was perfect. We will be back because of her and the positively amazing views of Downtown Detroit. Thank you Suki!!

Great place for cocktails, beer and wine on the roof of the Element hotel in Downtown Detroit. They have nice view of Comerica Park and Ford Field. They also have plenty of seating indoor and outdoor.

Beautiful rooftop views! Service, drinks and small plates all great! Please enforce your dress code and this will be a top notch place to go in Detroit.

I’ve been here a few time, added photos from multiple visits including todays. Decent drinks, great outdoor views of the city on the 13th floor, decent food, great service! A nice bar option for Detroit views.

Now it’s a see-and-be-seen craft cocktail bar. Busiest on summer weekends. Great drinks, good food. The service can be slow if not sitting at the bar, but this is a place to linger, enjoy the drinks, watch the crowd, and admire the beautiful city of Detroit. Expect to pay for this experience however

Great place for a casual meetup, cocktails and tapas. The views are amazing!! We ordered the flat bread with no meat and some sort of dip as well. Both were delicious and more fulfilling than expected. There breathtaking views on each side of the building, and the interior sets the vibe of a classical 1930s scene.

The rooftop patio has nice views of Detroit. The lamb meatballs were tasty, but I didn't care for the crab cakes or churros. The service was nice.

Two visits this month. Wonderful hostess both times. Amazing views and physical space. Good cocktails. Things that weren’t great: the barware was consistently, um, gross. Very spotty and a bit grimy. Not good. The bartender was overly mobile-phone focused which is fine except service was slow and as I mentioned, glasses weren’t too clean. These things are easy enough to fix. Will return because it is a fabulous space.

The vibes were very nice, service wasn't the best. Bar made us a really nice mocktail. Food was good. Only issue was service. Or food came out before our drinks and at different times. Not so much of a problem but had to wait for the truffle fries an extra 20 mins after the crab cakes came out. Also one of our glasses broke, which happens ,our waitress said and even went back to replace it. Glass was taken away but mess was never cleaned. Definitely a fun night with out with the girls, or a cute date idea. Get the truffle, lol even with the wait lmao!

This was such a beautiful place, and I’m taking a star away solely because of the energy of the people here. We came on a Saturday evening. The servers and host were so lovely but the crowd on the rooftop was not the most welcoming to people who look like me. Despite that, when we sat inside instead we had a much better time! The drinks were really tasty and aesthetic, and the charcuterie board paired nicely, though there were a few pork options on there we had removed. All in all this is a great place to go before a night out, and I would return if they had an event I liked or there was a large party of people more friendly and accepting.

Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. The service we received was terrible, especially if I’m going to pay $20+ for a cocktail. The person serving us repeatedly said it was ‘their first day back’ after some time off. It was like they’ve never worked there before. It took well over 10min to make 3 drinks. One of the drinks we received tasted nasty. Repulsive to a point where it seems like one of the ingredients was bad. We politely told the bartender that the drink didn’t taste right and we wanted to order a new one. Didn’t ask for a refund or anything. The bartender repeatedly told us it’s a ‘craft cocktail bar’ and this is an upscale place. They reluctantly took the drink back and they were cold to us the rest of our time there. There were also a group of employees yelling in what I assume was a break room during our time there. I don’t call myself uppity, but if I’m going to pay that much for a cocktail it better be the best one I’ve ever had and the service better be amazing. Don’t go here

We had a private rooftop and a penthouse which was very nice and it had a great view. My party had fun and the staff was very nice. What brings the place down is two things. First the leadership is garbage, very non hospitable and non empathetic, the staff again was great it wasn’t them it was the managers. And second the food, over priced and not good quality. A few of us got upset stomachs. I don’t recommend this place at all unless you just want to have a drink and have a nice view.

We had a reservation at 7:45. We were seated pretty quickly. The patio & view are nice, no denying that. The service on the other hand, bad. There were two of us celebrating our anniversary. The waitress greeted us and only brought one water. She told us she’d be back with the other. It was never brought. After receiving our drinks, we waited 50 minutes before she came back to check on us!?!?! We would have liked to have another drink however we simply didn’t have the time. Waited again for our check & got out of there. Too many good options downtown for that kind of service.

Overpriced. The lamb meatball entre is tiny for the price and very dry. It took 35 minutes to get our fries and the waitress walked past several times without checking on us. The craziest part was when I asked for ketchup and she said they didn’t have any. We also tried to order the prosciutto flatbread and they were out of prosciutto. The drinks weren’t bad but overpriced. This place is definitely circling the drain. They were also very short staffed. There was a wedding happening on the terrace, so you would assume they had extra hands on deck. Unfortunately not. There were only 2 bartenders. The only redeeming qualities are the great ambiance and atmosphere. Unfortunately I don’t recommend coming here.

I went in with 4 friends to meet up for cocktails for my birthday. Our intentions were only to go to the deck/rooftop for a cocktail while waiting for others. We were declined the opportunity. Both hostess were very nasty about this. I enjoyed my first experience and figured it would be nice to sit outside for 15-30 minutes with a cocktail. The Monarch never has to worry about me spending my resources at their establishment.

I was hoping to have a get together for my birthday this year at the Monarch Club. I reached out several weeks in advance by filling out an event form through the website which when I received the confirmation, was told someone would reach out within 24 hours. The room I was trying to book was for at least 15 people. When I did not hear anything back I tried both emailing and calling the venue, both completely disregarded. I was planning to have a really nice, upscale birthday event with a large amount of folks and I am truly stunned that this is how a venue would conduct business. Even if the rooms were booked, it's only professional to reach out and let someone know. Extremely disappointed.

The Monarch has amazing views but that's the only good thing about our experience. The restaurant was not busy but our service was ridiculously slow. The food was good but not worth the 40 plus minutes it took to arrive. Water and drinks took forever too. Prices too high for what you receive. Find another Detroit rooftop venue.

If you are in a hurry, do not go here. We ended up waiting for 50 minutes for one drink. We were looking to grab a drink before heading out to a show. We were staying at the hotel and thought this would be a good choice. I think it took at least 20 minutes after sitting down at the table for the server to say hello after walking past us several times. We had to ask the waiter who was filling waters to get us water. When we finally got waited on it took another 30 mins. for one drink. She dropped the drinks off and didn't say one word. Horrible service, during a time it was not that busy. If you like to pay an additional $3.00 for a splash of soda water in your titos, this place is for you. $20 for the smallest drink I've ever had. Overall, very disappointed in our visit. Great views though!

Terrible and unprofessional experience. I made reservations for a birthday, and after checking in at the front desk, we were led to a dirty table that hadn’t been cleaned. Nobody attended to us for almost an hour. When a server finally came by, they were apologetic, but it was clear there was a lot of miscommunication among the staff. I’ve noticed other people have complained about the same issue, so it doesn’t seem to be an isolated incident. I expected much more from this "upscale" bar. I’ve been to many other rooftop spots, and this experience felt amateur in comparison.

Beware. Do not go to this restaurant. If I was just rating on the food, my rating would be higher. But I will never return to this establishment. The service was absolutely horrible. For starters, my husband and I do not drink so we just had water. Our waitress only filled our glasses about 1/4 of the way. Since she never checked on us once, we went most of the meal without anything to drink. She was not friendly at all. Then the cherry on top was checking my bank account today and seeing that the waitress added $10 to her tip. We tipped accordingly based on her service. I have never had this happen. Do not give this establishment your business. They will clearly take extra money from you for terrible service.

The food was the only good thing, the atmosphere was very dark hard to see in the dining area and bathrooms, my date barely could hear me I had to practically yell, the service was thee worst part our waitress never checked on us, my wife and I don’t drink we were started off with less than half a glass of water and went our whole meal without anything else to drink. And to top it all off the waitress gave herself an extra $10 tip when our obvious 5 dollar tip didn’t work for her. I wouldn’t waste my time or money for some overpriced bacon and some low down McDonald’s fries, or services that lines their pockets with your own money without your permission! -3/10 Do not recommend it here!

Save you money and visit any other place. Other than the manager/host and the views, a complete waste of an experience. Prices are unrealistic, the seating is possible some of the worst in the city. “High end” more like cheep appetizers (marked up 10x) and liquor stored in windows with direct sunlight. Fell well below expectations. Service is lackluster in a cramped 500 sqft apartment.
