Hands down best coffee shop in Morro! If you want amazing baked goods, great coffee, and a memorable experience—this is it. They make their own croissant dough… definitely try the morning bun, almond croissant, bacon cheddar scone and cookies, you will be back for more!
The almond croissant is world class. Worth every penny. The best in North America. Don’t hesitate go there now!
The new flagship store and roasters of this small local chain with great coffee, delish pastries, big airy boho ambience and cute gifts. Downtown Morro Bay is the best and Scout has a big parking lot and nice bathrooms. Dark chocolate and raspberry scone is my fave.
Best chai latte, and we’ve tried many places in SoCal. We had two of the baked goods, both were delicious. Extremely dog-friendly. 👍
I travel the country for work and I just discovered Scout Coffee while camping in Morro Bay, I’ve been here every day. This is the best coffee shop/ bakery I’ve ever been to. Great atmosphere, staff and the drinks & baked items are fantastic. Excellent job Scout Coffee Crew
SOOOOO YUMMY!! insanely well made and delicious pastries. Such a find! Really cute indoor and outdoor seating. Loved listening to the hummingbirds while we enjoyed our breakfast .
Scout in MB rocks in every way possible. A cozy yet spacious venue, great coffee and tantalizing carb treats that will drive clean eaters to distraction, and super fast wifi. They even have big ceramic cups. Be still my heart, I've found my new fave SLO coffee spot. I make a pot of great coffee at home every other day so it is a treat for me when I am in town getting an oil change or other errands. I will be back.
After a few days in Morro Bay, Scout Coffee quickly became our go-to coffee place. Good coffee, outstanding baked goods (the croissants are better than what we regularly have in France), and a friendly, lively atmosphere.
Love Scouts coffee. So happy I found it. Great atmosphere. Plenty of parking in the back. Retail is unique, coffee is fantastic, bakery is wonderfully tasty and fresh. Service is friendly, helpful and quick. I found my hang out spot. Yeah it's in Morro Bay!
A super cute and refreshing spot! The coffee was good, not too sweet but not too bitter. The matcha was also very yummy.
Coffee very good Employees very good and friendly Atmosphere is very good plenty of room I had a bear claw probably the best I have ever had in my 77 years The filling is full of almond paste My friend has a blueberry cake and he thought it was excellent
I visited Scout Coffee in Morro Bay California on 02/20/2024 their opening day for the general public. I spoke with one of the owners, Sara Peterson who I found to be genuinely kind and welcoming. The drinks and bakery items are very good. The facility is excellent. I was particularly impressed with the amazing commercial kitchen and the onsite coffee roaster. Parking was super convenient due to the fact that Scout Coffee has the largest commercial parking lot in Morro Bay located right off of the rear door entrance. So, in summary, Congratulations again on your opening and welcome to the community!
This is a great place for a relaxing cup of whatever you want. I had a matcha green tea and it was wonderful. They have fresh baked goods and an array of cups, hats bags... Very friendly staff.
Beautiful new location! Their prices seem very reasonable compared to other coffee shops, if not slightly lower. I got a large drip and a pastry for $6. Kids loved playing at the table with the wooden barista toy. Parking is incredibly easy. Owners are beyond nice.
Scout is brilliant. The staff are trained well and provide excellent customer service. I came here most days for 2 weeks as I’m on a work/travel and needed a cafe environment to focus in and this certainly is the place to be- Its spacious and open and you are always made to feel welcome. I would recommend it here.
Spacious, good coffee. Very convenient to work, inspiring atmosphere as there are many others working aside
They have vegan sweets! I ordered a ginger cookie and a chocolate banana bread. Sweets probably alternate. Cappuccino with oat milk was fab.
Beautiful space with amazing coffee. Just the perfect execution of aesthetic and functional coffee excellence. Baristas are friendly and know their product well. We spent a day in Morro bay and spent a lot of it here. Came back twice the same day for food and more drinks! Impressive selection of non coffee drinks available.
I have been waiting for the Scout Morro Bay location to open since they announced! I am so excited it is finally here and it has lived up to every expectation! You can tell the Scout owners take such ownership and pride in what they do. Every little detail has been thought out and every staff member they hire is incredible. It is by far my favorite coffee shop, and now they have a location in one of my favorite places! 10/10 recommend!!
Great coffees, teas, bakery items. Nice change of pace from Starbucks; coffee bean and other chains in that they roast their own coffee beans and cook their own baked goods. Warm and inviting local, casual feel. You’ll get hooked and look for reasons to go to Morro Bay just for the atmosphere. Glad my friends took me here. 🌈💜🤗
Lovely. Clean. Ample baked goods. Delicious tea and coffee.
A local gem in Morro Bay, coffee was amazing and great pastries. Definitely worth a visit.
We visited the area for a long weekend and this was one of our favorite spots. Lots of seating inside, which was nice for a busy weekend day. I was so excited and surprised they had a few vegan pastry options, tried both and they were great. They make a really good oat milk chai latte, and my coffee-snob husband really liked their gibraltar. Highly recommend!
Fabulous. Incredible. Delicious. If you’re a citrus lover you have to try the lemon blueberry coffee cake or the lemon pistachio shortbread! We will definitely be stopping by any time we are in the area from now on.
Love Scout :) all of their locations are amazing, this one particularly is my favorite of the 3 though. So cute, cozy, and more calm.
While visiting friends in Morro Bay, they mentioned a new coffee shop called Scouts. The next morning, on my way out of town, I decided to stop by for some coffee and ended up ordering a chocolate cookie and a goat cheese scone with leeks. Everything I tried was fantastic, and I was especially impressed with their specialty lattes. The customer service was warm and friendly, making the experience even better. The space has a clean, minimalist design, and I was told it’s in a former bank, which adds a unique charm. Parking was hassle-free, with free street parking available nearby. Scouts is definitely a great addition to the area. I’ll be sure to stop by again the next time I’m in town visiting friends!
Seriously phenomenal!! I’m not the biggest coffee drinker, but I like to try it every so often and this place is awesome every time. Their syrups are out of this world, the lattes are flavorful and balanced, and their pastries are freakin’ to die for (and they’re well-stocked so there’s always a great selection even if you’re a late riser like myself). The staff is also super friendly and approachable, which is doubly awesome. This is for surely a place I’d keep going back to. 10 stars!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
my favorite coffee shop on the whole west coast. INCREDIBLY good-tasting espresso, perfect cappuccino, the shop's physical space is expansive & intriguing, AND we're in Morro Bay which is breathtakingly beautiful. i can't wait till i get to come visit again! ☕️💜✨️
10/10, absolutely no notes. both the mocha and morning bun were phenomenal.
A cute coffee shop in Morro Bay - close to walk to along the pier. The pastries are divine : pumpkin streusel muffin, dark chocolate banana bread, and chocolate chip cookie! The space is cozy and casual , outdoor seating is lovely! One of my favorite spots I visited during our central coast trip.
I am going to say this place was truly amazing. It was so calm and inviting. And the staff were amazing. Even if i have not been to a coffee shop like this, the staff who helped me get my order was truly amazing at her job, plus gave me recommendations on what to try. The coffee i had was amazing, and the pastries were truly delicious. I would truly go check them out if you're in the area. I tried to get a good photo of the coffee art but had a hard time taking it to my seat, but it still looked amazing.
This newly renovated bank building turned coffee shop in Morro Bay on Morro Bay Blvd is a must stop on your next trip to the coast. The pastries and coffees and teas all will please your senses and tastes. The help and staff are amazingly friendly and way better than any Starbucks, my opinion. I love the afternoons before dinner to order a late afternoon tea and sit around the outside patio that is absorbing the last few rays of sunshine before evening. There are many more reasons to visit, but I just wanted to grab your attention with a few quick point above. If coffee shops with homemade pastries is your thing, you won't be disappointed!
We stayed around for two rounds of coffee and a lot of delicious baked goods. Good working environment, very modern and unique. Good coffee (though the cappuccino could have a little more espresso and the ratio). I don’t like that they charge $.50 for alternative milk. But other than that we really enjoyed our stay. And I highly recommend the lemon pistachio shortbread cookie.
I grabbed a Vanilla Bean Latte here at the Scout Coffee Morro Bay location. Guess what? It’s actually a remodeled bank! They’ve got images inside that show how they did the renovations from start to finish. It’s pretty interesting to see the full transformation while also keeping some of the banks original elements. Of course, the coffee is also well-made and delicious. My vanilla bean latte was so creamy and had a nice vanilla flavor that wasn’t too overpowering. My parents got the Sunshine Special Latte, which had a hint of orange, it was surprisingly smooth. The staff was very courteous and they answered our questions about the menu and provided great recommendations for my parents who weren’t sure what they wanted. Scout Coffee is one of the best places to visit in the SLO area, so you definitely have to check it out when you’re in Morro Bay or SLO. Oh, and don’t forget to check out the vault when you visit!
1st timer on vacation at Morro Bay State Park campgrounds. A nice little 5 minute drive to “the coffee spot” in town apparently. It was popping and busy in here on the Saturday before Easter. The choice of fresh coffee beans, tea leaves, hot, cold drinks …. Anyone can find their drink here. I’m going for a latte decaf with their house made syrups where the helpful and kind Kristi helped me to choose RAW SUGAR + WHISKEY - say what! With camping, it will stick to the bones good and keep me warm on these windy, cold afternoons. It’s not overly sweet, get it with almond milk. The wilderness latte sounded amazing also - next trip, next latte. Bring your friends, family, kids, dogs. Sit outside, inside, bar top, farm style table, and take home a bag of whole coffee beans.
Very nice cafe. The shop has a nice calm atmosphere with plenty of seating and is well decorated. I enjoyed the oatmeal chocolate chip cookie very much. It had a very nice chewy texture and had very good chocolate pieces. The coffee quality was decent, but I didn't particularly enjoy the seasonal sunshine latte. It was meant to be tangerine cinnamon flavored, but I found it to be lacking in flavor. The next time I am in Morro Bay, I would definitely come back to try something different.
Scout nails it with their 3rd location! This shop is beautiful, spacious, and clever with its use of space. They have a kids play area with a toy espresso machine and it’s adorable. But more importantly, the staff was kind and the coffee was delicious! Morro is lucky to have this gem! Well done Scout!!
When we walked in we were surprised to see such a large a space - it’s huge. Plenty of seating inside and outside, which is great. Nice bright, open space. We were able to easily find seats and enjoy our coffee in the shop. The coffee, was delicious! Very happy with my mochas and my partner enjoyed his cappuccino and then cortado the next day. Yes, we went two days in a row! The baked goods were incredible. I really enjoyed the twice backed almond croissant with blueberry filling - perfection. We grabbed a bag of coffee beans to make at home. Definitely recommend!
We placed an order online and did not pay attention to the location. When we showed up at the wrong location, we showed them our mistake and they still made our order without any hesitation. That is what I call very great customer service!!! The pastries we got were excellent also along with our coffee and hot tea orders. Don’t miss out. Take time to show your support to this establishment!!! You will not regret it!!!
Elica was amazing! She was very friendly and had super delicious recommendations. I can’t wait to come again!
A lovely coffee shop in Morro Bay! We came up for a family reunion and ended up coming to Scout, 3 separate times. Their beans are to die for - especially the espresso blend. Pastries are divine, as are their lattes.
This old bank building is too big for the shop, but their remodel was intentional and well done. The wide hallways feel like a hospital but the outdoor area looks beautiful. Food is good but pricey. It’s noisy but trendy. People love it…I don’t know! Croissants are gigantic. Fruit parfait from the fridge was sweet and tasty (but $7-9 yikes!). Glad to have it around and definitely a better choice than Starbucks. I guess it’s not my vibes idk
Mocha lover here. The best tasting, most beautiful mochas ive ever had! Lovely spot, the old Bank of America in Morro Bay. Love how they left the bank door attached like the old B of A in Los Osos. Great treats and merchandise too! Love the vibe. Family friendly too.
I go here for the Morning Bun. But all of their pastries look good. The bun is buttery, crispy with lots of sprinkled sugar. It's got to be good. Just right for that sugar fix in the morning. Located in a converted bank. It did have lots of free parking in the back. But they are finishing up construction of EV solar charging station. In side is very clean, nice place to meet friends or hangout with a cup of Joe. They also have a nice outdoor patio area on the west side.
Great coffee and pastries. Had iced Vanilla Latte, Raspberry/Chocolate Scone, and Sunrise pastery. Puppucino was a treat for our dog Macchi. Clean bathrooms, light/fun decor, and friendly staff.
Wow. Coffee is amazing. Me and my husband got oat latte with extra shot and it was just so good! We were in SF right before we drove down to Morro Bay and we visited popular coffeehouses in SF (different one every day) and we thought Scout Coffee had the best coffee among all the coffees we drank this week. We love the coffee, pastries, interior and their goods. We will definitely come back when we’re in town.
You know the coffee’s good when you can’t leave without a bag of beans. Absolutely loved our morning at Scout: great vibes, terrific roasts, a fresh and flaky croissant, and a GF DF ginger molasses Cookie (!!!) 🍪 what more could one want from the world?!
Had a very yummy hot cocoa here. A super manicured and cute atmosphere. Would absolutely come back. Did not try the food. Good outdoor seating!
I like the almond pastry they have it had some sort of jam in there too. It was cool they have the story of them converting of from a bank to a shop. It’s beautiful. My husband enjoyed his coffee.
The environment is a modern warehouse style, very light and airy, big windows looking out to the street, large farmhouse style shared tables and high top seating along the window as well as a sunny deck. Chai latte is great, very spicy - tastes homemade. Good coffee. The pastries are excellent, gift section is very cute and inspiring. Nice mellow music being played.
What a wonderful atmosphereIf you just need to escape from the busy life of the beach, ha ha. Just up into this wonderful amazing atmosphere and have the most delicious peppermint latte, very elegant.
Very good baked goods and coffee ! The scones in particular have the perfect consistency and have great original flavors (I took the honey cinnamon crème fraiche). The atmosphere is also very cute. Only slight drawback is it took quite a long while to get the coffee order. But worth the wait if you're not in a rush.
Came across Scout Coffee on Yelp while looking for Chai Latte, and glad it came up! Been coming here for a long time and haven’t made my way in yet, glad I did! The place/aesthetics are nice, friendly service, along with a nice menu, and food selection. I got the Chai Seed pudding, and a Honey Lavender Matcha, both are very good! Never had a Chai pudding with a top layer of peanut butter, definitely liked it. The Matcha is not over powering, nicely balanced. The young lady did suggest more syrup (lavender) to sweeten it up a bit of I liked it sweeter, so I did. Will be a for sure go to when in town. All in all: Friendly service, good menu selection, good food/tea & coffee. Well worth the visit!
We stopped here on our way back to LA and I’m so glad we did. The staff were very friendly. We loved looking around at the merchandise they had. Really a welcoming, spacious coffee shop. We got a matcha and raw sugar and whiskey latte. Both delicious!
First visit to Scouts this week was pleasant! Open and airy with a lot of different seating options. Very happy with our selection of drinks and pastries. Be prepared to leave smelling of coffee, which is not a bad thing! Service was great, quick, and friendly. No complaints. We will be regulars
Their wilderness syrup in a latte is so unique; it's akin to a lavender flavor, but not as floral. I love that creativity! The savory danish was also delicious and so flakey. If I'm back in the area, I will stop by again!
Scout Coffee was a find! Super spacious and chilled, serving delicious speciality coffee (the drip was amazing!) and fresh pastries. Located within an old bank with a roastery on one side and bakery on the other, it oozes with character and charm. We especially enjoyed the shelves with gifts and homeware. We left with a coffee cup, a selection of cards and full bellies. Thank you for your warm hospitality.

This place offers truly unique coffee drinks. The bakery items are high quality and delicious. The open space in the old bank building is a nice place to hang out, if you can get a seat. It's usually really busy! Morro Bay is finally getting some nicer places back in the town!

The mocha was so good! But the butterscotch latte was so bad 💔 definitely coming back for a mocha though!
It's finally open in the old Bank of America building. A lovely open seating area with high ceilings and a view into the old bank vault. Also seating around the windows with views outside and an outside seating area. A comfortable place to sit with friends or by yourself looking out into the street. Good range of coffees and some pastries. Only 4 stars overall because my coffee was served in a paper cup. However, this was the first day of opening so don't want to be too critical.
Filter coffee was good, their roasted beans have alot of flavor. Their danishes were really good aswell. Definitely have to get there early in order to try the pastries. Good coffee, crazy in the morning though.
Coffee pretty good. Sweet and savory pattiserie food good, cooked there. NO heated breakfasts like bacon and egg croissants. Place is converted bank with vault, so large, open and plenty of seating
Beautiful atmosphere! And the coffee and overall experience is pretty good. But I’m always mystified by high-end coffee shops that don’t provide all the different sweeteners their customers might prefer. When it comes to coffee, I’m a Splenda guy! Being forced to mix other concoctions together to try to get it to my preferred taste never works out the way I’d hope! Why not just give the customers what they want? That was my experience here.
This would be a 5 star review, but it’s just too noisy inside! Coffee, service, quality ingredients are all 5/5. With the amount of seating, which is awesome, and the size of the location, it just gets too loud to enjoy a calm cup of coffee solo or with friends. If they can figure out how to sound dampen then we’ll be back! Love the outside seating and large parking lot in the back!
Second time here. Wife ordered the same drink she had yesterday but today they told her they don't make that drink. How is it she ordered it yesterday, received it, enjoyed it and it is not made there? What did they make her yesterday??
Manicured coffee shop, hitting all the check boxes for hippy trendy. Roastery on premises, good selection of pastries, good presentation Barista needs to be 10x more caffeinated, it's 7:30 no line at the register and more than 12min before they even started preparing. I like to spend time in a coffee shop, but WITH my coffee in front of of me, not waiting for it. They also have online orders which does not help. If I'm done eating my pastry before you even started making my drink you have failed Nice presentation, latte art.
Went here for an afternoon coffee since my favorite Morro Bay spots close earlier. They didn't have a dark roast, and their drip coffee was pretty mid. My godson's latte was pretty good, however. The staff felt like a little too cool for school coffee snobs and we're off putting. The place has a nice aesthetic for a bigger town but feels too sterile for a small coastal town. I'll stick with Rudie's Rock and Top Dog for my future coffee in Morro Bay.

We enjoyed our chocolate croissant, but my hot mocha and my wife's chai tea were not very flavorful. Service was good and we had seating, but we'll try another shop next time.
From out of town and made it a point to stop here again because it was so yummy before! Got a scone again and this time it was undercooked, to the point of being raw inside. We showed the cashier and they offered to warm it, but it needed another 10-15 mins in the oven not a quick microwave, so we just left. I understand it was an off day/batch because it was so yummy before, but a little disappointed that we weren’t offered another solution or a refund for raw food. Still recommend for food and drinks, just wish costumer service was a little more prioritized! Clean bathrooms too!
The coffee is best anywhere, but the service is painfully slow. Expect at least a 20-minute wait every time, often exceeding 30 minutes. Waiting so long is unacceptable, especially considering how busy this place is. If you’re going to charge premium prices, you need adequate staff, equipment, and systems to handle the volume. Keeping in mind, I’ve been a loyal customer for over two years, and no matter the location, time of day, or time of year, the experience is always the same. Amazing coffee does not excuse terrible service.
The coffee is good, staff are very nice, food is expensive, but the most annoying part is they removed all of the electrical outlets like their SLO location. I understand as a business you probably don't want people hanging there all day for only buying one drink, but it's super annoying as it's not a very inviting place to get work done.

Not a fan on the interior. It’s cold and uninviting. Not like any of the coffee shops I’ve seen throughout my life. It’s not a cafe I’d do work in. Just thinking about it makes me shiver.. Plus, sound echoes and it’s really hard to have a conversation.
Staff is lovely, but waiting 30 min to get a luke warm matcha is not. This place is swamped on a Monday morning.
As a person of mobile disability I did not feel welcome in this establishment. Not busy or rush hour. Gave me no time to view the menu or see what’s in the case before asking what I wanted. Wasn’t even a greeting. Asked if there were blended options. Employee turned with a scoff and said no we don’t have any blenders. Which is no big deal. I did end up ordering a Chocolate Loaf and a Vanilla Latte Iced. Late is fine, tasted average. Loaf was very hard on the edges and dense. After I made my order the gentleman who took my order seemed like I was a pain for even coming in. As a Local I’m disappointed by this interaction. Don't know if I will come back.
Wanted to enjoy a nice drink and do some work on the computer but they no longer allow you to use their outlets, so I wasn’t able to use my computer ( low battery). Pretty disappointed but I did find another coffee shop in town that is more lap top friendly.
If you order latte for take out, be aware of you are likely to get one with overheated milk and zero latte art. Not sure if they do the same for the dine in coffee. But i will say it disappoints me very much. I think they need to have some training for the barista. Yet this location has plenty of seats, you can see many people here using laptops and reading. Vibe is great.
During mid afternoon on Sunday, August 10th I ordered an Americano iced coffee with skim milk and three stevias. I had to wait for about 25 minutes! A friend who was with me had a similar wait for her uncomplicated order. The Morro Bay store was not particularly busy. This was my first and last experience with Scout.
Not everyone knows how to make the coffees. A cappuccino is not a latte. The temperature of a coffee is important. Disappointed.
Stopped in to grab coffees as we were passing through on our way back to Pismo Beach. Ordered a macchiato and Gibraltar to go so we could continue the drive. The barista didn’t make them to go and instead of remaking them, just took them and dumped them into to-go cups. This changes the drink and given how expensive speciality coffee drinks are, this isn’t good customer service or product presentation. The drinks should have been remade. I attempted to contact Scouts coffee but have never heard back from them after sending an email. Disappointing because they have a good product but experiences like this are off putting. It would seem this location has a few kinks to still work out and that management needs to take time to respond to correspondence.
My husband and I's first time here. I really wanted to like this place since it looked super cute and homey. I ordered a butterscotch iced latte and my husband got the hot mocha latte. Unfortunately, neither drink was good. The mocha tasted thin and watered down, and the butterscotch latte was too, watered down milk in a plastic cup. I asked if my latte could be remade, and while it was, the interaction felt cold and dismissive. I simply wanted a drink that tasted like what I ordered. The remake ended up tasting even more off than the original. At that point we chose to just leave and go a few minutes down the road to The Human Bean (highly recommend!) where the quality and service were much better. It’s just really disappointing because I don’t expect perfection, just decent coffee and basic customer service. This visit didn’t deliver either.
I visited this location with my wife and ordered a mocha and a butterscotch iced latte. Unfortunately, the mocha tasted watered down, and the butterscotch latte tasted like plain milk with barely any flavor. When my wife politely asked if the latte could be remade, the staff member responded with a dismissive attitude. Although the drink was remade, it ended up tasting worse than the first one. We ultimately decided to leave and went to The Human Bean, where the quality and service were much better. Very disappointing experience overall.
