This is a place to go for a good Sunday brunch. Prices are great. The food is exceptional. Got great service. Parking. They do have valet otherwise it's street parking around downtown
Absolutely amazing!! Not only is the food presented beautifully, it tastes even better! My 9 year old even loved everything she ate! If I could give 10 stars I would! The only bad part is I live in Texas and can't come back any time I want 😭
Absolutely beautiful atmosphere. Mushroom gnocchi was amazing. $30 a plate. The lamb at the next table smelled amazing, going to try that next time
Beautiful restaurant w big comfy bar and big comfty chairs. Quiet ambience and friendly staff who know all about what to see, eat, and do in Little Rock. Drinks are fantastic. Had a pimento cheese that was out of this world. Mushroom gnocchi tasted super Fresh, cheesy, and was dynamite. Guy next to me was raving about the fried chicken and pecan pie. Extensive wine list w offerings from everywhere.
My husband and I came on a Saturday night with another couple. We made reservations on the Open Table app. We were seated immediately. We enjoyed the charcuterie board for an app. It was a nice size. We also got the fall salad and gumbo. Both were delicious. The drinks here are the best downtown. We love the ambiance. We will definitely be back.
Finally discovered this true culinary marvel in Central Arkansas, and at a hotel no less. I enjoyed the braised rib tip, mashed potatoes, and carrots. I had perhaps the best gumbo north of Louisiana. You could really tell that the ingredients were of quality. I also enjoyed the passionfruit iced tea. This is the South, so it would have been a nice touch if they offered a sweetened version or even a lemonade. The waitress offered stellar service, although you could tell that they were short staffed. I had the opportunity to speak with the chef to praise him on the great food. Suggestions: I understand that the restaurant is within one of the city’s most historical hotels but I found the decor rather tired and worn. It is possible to still maintain historical charm while also updating the decor and adding a modern color palette. Several light fixtures were either out or flickering and I do not care to look at random dishes and carafes under the bar while I’m at my table attempting to enjoy dinner. I would also love to see additional drink options. I also found the service from the host, who provided an incomplete menu, to be lackluster. If you’re attempting to tout a polished, sophisticated venue, your staff should match that. Thank goodness for my waiter. She was awesome.
I was told that this bar was the best in Little Rock by multiple people, so I was excited to check it out. It's in a beautiful hotel downtown, and it's nice enough. The bartenders were friendly and my cocktail was fantastic. However, I found the food to be lackluster. The gnocchi had a good texture but needed some acid. The banana pudding was too sweet for me. I'd go back and order other things off the menu.
I love pimento cheese, and this ranks better than my grandmother's, and that's saying something. We also loved the Short Rib Flatbread, the Cobb Salad, and the Southwest Salad with Shrimp. But by far the best entree was the Braised Short Rib. The brussel sprouts were cooked just right: a bit crunchy on the outside, but soft on the inside; the short rib melted in my mouth. Unfortunately, there was a table of children seated near us who did what children do when their parents are at another table.
I absolutely loved the atmosphere. Just strolling up Markham and seeing the Capital Hotel is majestic in itself. I was promptly seated and ordered a Crown and Coke topped off with a lime. I ordered the skillet blackened redfish that came with creole crawfish cream and grits. The taste was divine and I loved it. It is not super spicy but it has a hint of heat that makes the grits and fish come together like a masterpiece. I highly recommend this place 👌.
Nice bar in an upscale hotel. Small but nice southern food menu and good cocktail list. Bartenders were friendly and the place had a nice vibe. You can have drinks in the lobby of the hotel and listen to live jazz or sit in the bar area and watch a UFC fight; something for everyone. We ordered a few of the cocktails, the fig and thistle (I think?) was really good. We also ordered the chicken fried steak and pimento grilled cheese with fries and truffle dipping sauce. Both were simple but done well. Good place to stop in if you're downtown.
I recently dined at The Capital ( not to be confused with The Capital Grill) while staying across the street at the Marriott. Intrigued by the ambiance, I decided to venture over and settled at the bar to order a martini. To my dismay, it arrived in an inappropriate champagne coupe or margarita glass, which severely detracted from the experience of enjoying a proper martini. It's astonishing that a venue striving for a higher standard would serve such a classic cocktail in anything other than a martini glass. I suspect this choice stems from concerns about breakage, perhaps to avoid the hassle of washing martini glasses. However, the guest experience should never suffer due to operational challenges. I can think of no other justification for this decision. In hindsight, I should have left at that moment, as the experience only declined from there. The burger I ordered was average at best. While the bartending staff was competent, they lacked the personality that could elevate the experience. The clientele was pleasant, dressed nicely for a night out, suggesting this may be one of the nicer establishments in Little Rock. However, it falls short of the four or five-star mark in my opinion. It seems that many in Little Rock may settle for two or three stars due to a lack of options, but that shouldn't excuse subpar food quality and presentation. The place certainly looks appealing from the lobby and the front of the hotel, but the overall experience--especially regarding food presentation and glassware--left much to be desired.
Service was polite but not checking on us for refills etc. Food was 3/5 for taste and quality. Appetizer was good but like the entree over priced for what you get. My trek continues for a quality meal in Little Rock. Looking for excellent service and food tha is worth the price. My order was wrong as well but mention.
Capital Bar and Grill. It's not bad. I do enjoy the atmosphere of this restaurant. It is very nice. Very elegant and a very nice place to whine and dine. I like the size. It's not too big and it's not too small. Perfect for a date night. However, the menu. The menu should be more extensive and unique and it's offering. The items on the menu are not that exciting to me. The cooks however, seems to be very well disciplined in their culinary skills. For example, I don't like lamb. No matter how many times I try it. I just can't get past the wild game taste. It's very distinct to my palate. With that being said, the shelf did an amazing job on the braze lamb shanks. Very minimal on the taste of game or wild that you find in lamb. But it was cooked to perfection. Very moist, very tender, very juicy. Paired with the mashed potatoes and vegetables. And the sauce that they added to it was fantastic. Again, I do not like lamb but the portion the price very reasonable and also worth it. Now the dessert. I ordered two banana puddings and only received one. Yikes! Now with the banana pudding I would add as a suggestion. Provide more wafer cookies. Two is simply not enough for a banana pudding as richich as this banana pudding is. But overall I would do Capital Bar and Grill again. It is a very nice establishment. The atmosphere. The whole decor of this restaurant is very nice.
Ate at this restaurant for lunch while touring the Capital Hotel. The menu was relatively small and they did have a few specials. I ordered a Cajun shrimp dish and banana pudding for dessert. The service was great and our waitress was especially friendly and attentive. The restaurant was not too busy during our outing so we were seated right away and the food did not take long to arrive after ordering. I deducted 2 stars because the menu was really limited, in my opinion and the food was just ok and nothing spectacular while being relatively expensive. Would I go here again? Yes, but it would not be my first choice.
Tonight, my family of 6, spent over a grand on our holiday dinner. After asking if we could split the ticket (since everyone has a different budget) our waiter told us that can not spilt the ticket BUT not 5 minutes later, we see the table next to us, had split tickets. We asked for a manager, they said we can split it only 4 ways. That is not okay. We have been coming here for over 15 years and never had this happen. They then threaten security on us, after we soent over a grand and just want a split check. It was awful, my family will not going back.awful service.
Location was nice … however - as excited as I was to try the food the first time today - it came out 40 minutes later, cold & I found a piece of hair on my pasta. Will never go back again. Disappointed as I was so excited to try the place! Management did not do anything once I did notify them of the hair in my food ( even tho I no longer wanted it) long wait times, cold unseasoned food .
The Capital Bar and Grill has been a favorite restaurant of mine my entire adult life, but our experience last night ruined it for me forever. I will not ever be eating there again. We went for an adult family Christmas dinner, there were 8 of us. We were up charged on drinks, that we did not request. My only thought for this was to run our bills up higher. When we were given our ticket it was given as 1 total ticket, which we politely asked to have it split. We were told that was not a possibility, which was a lie. Every other table had separate checks, when talking about this to the manager, we were told it could be split by couple. After 20 minutes of waiting, they brought the checks just split evenly 4 ways. When asked why it wasn’t done the way we asked for it, they said it wasn’t possible. This has never been a problem in the past before. When the assistant manager dint want to deal with us anymore, she threw Our tickets at my mother’s spot, hitting her with them. Which is appalling and embarrassing for this “manager” to behave this way. Needless to say, after a beautiful evening with family this ruined it. We spent $1,100 on our meal and drinks. To be treated this way for a simple request is unacceptable.
I grew up dining at this establishment and to say I was disappointed is an understatement. I called and made reservations for my birthday dinner, they managed to get us a table which was great or so I thought. We were seated immediately so far so good. Our server was not at all knowledgeable about the drink menu which seemed strange considering the price point. We finally managed to get a drink order in a now I was focused on dinner. I chose the fried chicken dish it came out beautiful. The presentation was gorgeous and completely covered in bugs and mites in the microgreens used as a garnish. I was extremely disappointed and disgusted. Wave the waiter over he seemed not surprised. The food was taken away immediately and a manager never came to touch the table, which is absolutely insane. He brought us a ticket for our drinks and that was the end. It was my 45th birthday I was excited to dine there I brought my favorite person in the world and someone very special to me while highly speaking on the quality of this establishment and I was completely humiliated and embarrassed. It completely ruined his experience and my birthday night due to the fact all of the other the fine dining establishments were closed so I couldn't get another reservation to save my night. Capital Bar and Grill was a terrible choice and gave me a terrible experience. I wouldn't recommend this establishment to anyone ever, this is what is known as failing up due to the reputation of quality. All I experienced was FAILURES across the board.
