Brilliant food. Outstanding staff. My wife loves the shrimp scampi, my go to is the eggplant parmesan. Excellent classic Italian dishes and delicious specials. This is best in class of New Haven's amazing Italian restaurants and I realize that's saying a lot. They have outdoor seating most of the year available in front of the restaurant. Service is prompt. Vegetarian friendly menu. Highly recommended.
Great homemade pasta, amazing Sea food dishes are soo good, they also have duck! and the appetizer are just delicious, you want to eat REAL italian food, come and check caffè bravo!
Pasta genovese was just like I was in Naples Italy. I also got the pasta special that seemed a little odd but I was intrigued to order because im a sucker for culinary creations, blew me away it was so good and creative. Authentic food not your typical Italian American home made pasta you can taste the freshness. I will be back and i am excited to see new specials everytime I go
Although it was pouring rain the day of my lunch visit, we sat out on the patio which was warm and dry. We had the restaurant week lunch special. The lasagna was flavorful and filling. The small octopus were crispy and cooked just right.
Great authentic food from the Campania region of Italy. Cozy atmosphere and attentive service. All the pastas are home made and highly recommended! Very good wine list as well with wines also from the Campania region. My number one spot for Italian food in New Haven and it’s off the beaten path on Orange St in East Rock.
What wonder staff! What delicious food! Couldn’t have asked for anything more! A perfect place to eat and enjoy Italian cuisine!
Amazing food and atmosphere. Giovanni took great care of us. Great night.
Absolutely fabulous. Sitting outdoors on a glorious late summer evening with delicious food and excellent service. New Haven dining at its finest. Bravo.
An amazing little local Italian restaurant in the heart of East Rock. The ambiance is intimate and great for a date night. Even with limited seating you never feel rushed. The fig pizza was incredible and the creme brulee was one of the best I've had.
I have recently been to “Caffe Bravo” and I was deeply impressed by its exquisite cuisine. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the staff is extremely friendly and attentive. But the strong point of the place is definitely the cuisine. The menu presented a variety of Italian dishes, with bold flavors and beautiful presentation. In this restaurant you have the opportunity to taste typical products of the Italian/Neapolitan tradition. Pasta and desserts made personally by the young chef Giovanni were excellent. I recommend to all lovers of authentic Italian cuisine not to miss this place. I absolutely recommend it, a must try!!
This is an excellent place to eat if you want to try fresh and high-quality food. Each component is exquisite and they have homemade delicious cooked pasta 🍝 The presentation of each dish was outstanding and made the dish even more appetizing how. Also great atmosphere, the patio is lovely, especially when uncovered in the summer and you feel like family there! Highly recommended! 💙🇮🇹
Went with a bunch of us, Family style….first time there, not my last. Chef came out to all the tables to great the customers. Amazing food, Katherine our waitress was the absolute best ! Highly recommend
Beautiful restaurant. The outdoor seating is beautiful and sets a lovely tone for what will undoubtedly be a fantastic meal. The service is impeccable and the food is delicious. My guests and I shared a couple of appetizers (fried artichoke hearts and NY style calamari) and the beet salad for starters. I had the salmon entree while half of our party ordered the swordfish pasta (which was UNBELIEVABLY tasty). For dessert we had pistachio ice cream and coffee. Overall a delightful evening, I would definitely recommend the swordfish pasta, which is what I'll be ordering next time. Cheers!
Authentic Italian cuisine great service and atmosphere. Every dish from appetizers to desserts was excellent and delicious..
Excellent authentic Italian food! Amazing service! Would highly recommend!
This Restaurant Is One The Best in Connecticut…. The food Is really autentic….
We had a wonderful time. Salvatore, our waiter was fantastic! We'll be back!
Come here just about every week. Tonight they were very busy which is great to see, thinking NH is coming back to life. I had the rigatoni Genovese and my husband had the Ribeye. Beyond delicious. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Food, staff (Mario especially), and atmosphere was spectacular. Will certainly be back soon.
Our server was friendly yet professional! Our dinner was exceptional! The dessert was the best we have ever had. My two critiques would be if the artichoke hearts were egg battered with a lemon butter sauce they would have been perfect! The offering was good but could be better. The fresh pasta for the fish dish was ok but dry pasta is the better choice with a fish sauce. We will come back, can’t wait to try other entrees.
Absolutely amazing food and service. Cozy neighborhood place that feels like home.
Had son"s graduation lunch and purely went on reviews. We live 2 hours away and son graduated half hour away. It exceeded my expectations. Cute New Haven neighborhood. Great appeal and outdoor experience was almost New York savvy neighborhood. My entire family loved it. Food was great and service was amazing.
An excellent Italian lunch with appetizers and dessert! The food and service was great! We were seated on the patio at midday which was fine as the street traffic was light and made for an enjoyable experience.
Caffe Bravo is New Haven’s best kept secret. It’s an intimate space, making it the perfect place for a date night, or in our case, our anniversary dinner. I had the lamb and it was incredible! The staff is friendly and hard-working. My wife and I love to come here and are always well taken care of. Highly recommend!
This is a great Italian restaurant and the food is delicious. The atmosphere and vibe is wonderful. I will definitely be back to enjoy some more authentic Italian cuisine.
Food was awesome. Fresh pasta is amazing there. The server was very knowledgeable and attentive. Definitely a return visit in my near future!
Our meal was outstanding! Our appetizer, lamb chops, was cooked to perfection. We had Fettuccine with Lobster was fabulous and the branzino with fig and pistachio was amazing!!!! We ending our meal with the chocolate dubai dessert it was out of this world!! Wonderful evening at Caffe Bravo!!!
Excellent Italian food from a clearly caring staff with an outstanding patio dining area. What more could you ask for? A gem of New Haven that people should know about. Try the arugula salad, the radiatore, and the rigatoni.
By far best Italian food around! The service, the atmosphere, drinks and food are the best. Highly recommend!
Love Caffe Bravo! Absolutely wonderful - Michael is the best! Great food and atmosphere.
The server Salvatore was excellent and attentive He met all our needed. The chef even came out to ask how are meal was. We happened to come from the same area in Italy and I really enjoyed his enthusiasm. It was a wonderful expert
A soothing and lovely atmosphere complete with delightful Music that is well metered. In short doesn’t blast you. Welcome and professional staff menu diverse. Service superb. The food was prepared perfectly and since I am a salmon snob so to speak I can tell you it was perfect. Recommend strongly. You will not be disappointed. If I lived locally I’d be there often.
Absolutely delicious house made pasta! All the appetizers were splendid and tasty. My favorite meal was the gnocchi and sauce. I tried 3 different alcoholic beverages and all of them were fantastic ( I recommend the blood orange cosmo ) 10/10 would recommend to any couple looking for a date night, or any Italian family looking for that close to home authentic meals that nonnie used to cook!
We decided to give this restaurant a try restaurant week. I’m so glad we did! We had such an amazing meal and got a chance to talk to Stacie snd Giovanni while we were sitting at the bar. We learned about the history of the restaurant and their dedication to serving the very best food. The apps, dinner and dessert were delicious. I can’t believe we never visited this restaurant before. We will be back very soon!! Would definitely recommend to family, friends and anyone looking for exceptional, authentic Italian cuisine! A gem!!’
Great environment and very friendly staff made this experience memorable. We came here with friends to catch up after a long time; we sat in the covered outdoor patio area and I enjoyed burrata for appetizer and salmon for entree, both of which were tasty and authentic :). Nice vibe fostered good conversations. Staff was very knowledgeable about gluten-free options as well.
I had dinner at Cafe Bravo last night and I must say that as an Italian living in America, this place met my expectation and more. The decor, atmosphere, and cleanliness of this place were perfect. The food was very well presented, fresh, and absolutely outstanding. I recommend this place to anyone who wants a delightful experience while enjoying a tasteful and fresh Italian meal.
Cafe Bravo was the caterer for my job's holiday party, the food was very delicious, my favorite was the chicken Parmesan and green beans. I will definitely go visit the and eat. it was worth every penny.
Lived in New Haven my whole life and this is hands down the best restaurant. This place never disappoints! Food is 10 out of 10!
Solid food with attentive service and a nice place, although their main dining area could be spruced up a bit. We sat in the heated porch. The soups and pastas were very good but not mind blowing. A bit pricey. Worth a stop though.
Great, solid Italian restaurant. Food can be elevated, it is very simple Italian food, but good nonetheless. It feels like a mix between being a quiet, romantic spot and a louder, more Italian family restaurant. To be clear, they have never made us feel uncomfortable with having our toddler at dinner with us, but sometimes you just get that feeling as a parent that the vibe isn't for toddler from the atmosphere and other diners. Either way, would definitely recommend if looking for a solid Italian spot in the neighborhood.
Returned 2 dishes as per my daughters were simply expensive beef stew. Gnocchi was very thick and large pieces with a broth mixture of what appeared to be sherry and something else. Beef was tender, but dish overall was flavorless. Mgr came out and she wasn't happy- all over her face. Returned dishes for more simpler options penne al a vodka....was okay. The other dish was okay. Hot and cold dish with. Scallops, salmon pieces and a few shrimp. Kind of dry appeared cold the I realized it was arugula under a brown rice...it was doing too much.
Pasta was fresh, servers were great… time it took for food to be served - wildly long
The decor is charming, but the service definitely feels Italian the way they let you sit and talk with no sense of urgency from the waiter. I got the sense that this appeals to an older crowd. Overall, food this mid shouldn’t cost this much.
I was really excited to try Caffe Bravo after seeing many of the reviews. The service was great and the staff was very attentive and the food came out in a timely fashion. However, the flavors and quality of the food were mediocre at best. The Caesar salad wasn’t flavorful and the presentation was poor. The Polpo Grigliata was relatively tasty but lacked seasoning and the chickpea puree was dry when it came out. The Pappardelle Bolognese was flavorless (needed salt and spice) although the pasta itself was cooked well. The tiramisu had too much espresso but the texture was solid. The quality the price ratio didn’t add up for me, especially in comparison to other Italian restaurants in the area . Not a bad overall experience but the food itself didn’t live up to the hype, respectfully.
Pretty average Italian food in the area. No dish stood out to me as incredible, but if you're looking for a comfort food Italian restaurant, this one is an okay choice. The app plates are pretty small, but can be shared by 2 people (3 means everyone gets one bite). The entrees were pretty bland and nothing special honestly. The wines were solid, but overall things were a little pricy.
The menu looks great, but the food was bland and average. Luckily they had salt on the table. Drinks and dessert were good, but salads, apps, entrees, and pasta dishes were just okay.
Ordered take out tonight. $100 for 2 entrees and 2 very small salads. The rib eye was supposed to be medium well but was so dry, it could barely be eaten. We used to like this place due to the great servers and the food being yummy but we will not be back after this last experience. $100 for a smalllll bag of food that is sub par at best is just not sustainable for a normal household as a restaurant option. Very bummed.
Food taste ok. Meat sauce taste like regular meat sauce. I had papperdelle con porcini and it was super bland, noodles were over done and mushy. I’ve heard great things about this place so maybe I just got unlucky with using ubereats but i wouldn’t order this again from Uber eats. To me it’s totally not worth it. Maybe I’ll try it when eating in some day. With cream type dishes there’s usually weight in the meal but it’s super light. $23 bucks and I get a Chinese food type container half full of food. Very disappointed. You only get one chance to make a first impression and for $50.72 total spent on this food on two meals that again were half full is crazy. On top of that you put 3 slices of bread in the bad wrapped in a napkin. I’m very surprised for the price.
We dined here on Mother’s Day. We were seated quickly and gotten drinks. We placed an order for appetizers and got those fairly quickly but the waitress didn’t take our meal order until those arrived. The prices on the specialty Mother’s Day menu were quite high but we decided to try a pistachio pasta dish from there and then items from the normal menu, including lasagna, gnocchi, and çacio pepe. Our meals took over an hour! The waitress was not very apologetic and honestly didn’t seem phased by it. When they did arrive, they were flavorless and bland. The cacio pepe was swimming in a watered down cheese sauce which made it quite unappetizing. The gnocchi was underdone making them mushy and weirdly textured. The pistachio pasta had zero flavor and the lasagna was miniscule. Our bill was well over $200 for a meal that would have been better at the Olive Garden. I don’t know if this was because it was Mother’s Day and the kitchen had too many menu items or if they were understaffed, but I would definitely not recommend it! Too pricy for very below average food!
Seafood pasta just sucked. Pasta wasn’t cooked long enough or even close to long enough resulting in tough noodles that almost snapped when biting through. The shrimp were fresh but everything else was frozen. Lobster had the texture of overcooked chicken breast. Dry tough and stringy. Tragic experience. Service and atmosphere was great which made the subpar food all the more appalling.
