I decided to walk from dumbo all the way to Chinatown on a random Sunday evening, and decided I wanted a random Chinese food spot when I came across this place and noticed how busy it was, several drivers picking up food, and the atmosphere was kinda crazy. I decided to sit down, which I was sat next to an another party i was so intrigued by the chaos (in a good way). I ordered the pork chili oil hot soup, and wow….. not to be dramatic but this food was so tasteful, and SPICY but spicy in a sense where it’s painfully good. I felt this spot, realizing I just found a gem. Best noodles ever.

rich and delicious broth, fresh veggies, tender beef and amazing noodles. I got the braised beef noodle soup. worth the 30minutes I waited in line.

Super tasty noodles, al-dente how they should be. The broth and tender braised beef made our first meal in NYC memorable. Thank you!

My favorite dish was the spicy dry noodles with braised beef & wide noodles, but literally everything we had was amazing. Really cool to see the chef make the noodles.

I've tried a lot of Lanzhou style noodle spots and this is def one of the best. You can watch the noodles being hand pulled right through the kitchen window. Perfect chew on the noodles, the broth is flavorful without being too salty or overpowering and the beef is tender. (Update I can't stop coming back and the beef burger is fire too 😭)

Special dry pork noodle was delish. Great flavor and noodles were chewy. Pan fried buns are good too. Marinated egg has no flavor tho but you come here for the noodles.

Very cool place. The food is delicious. We sat at the little diner counter and was able to watch the chef hand make all the noodles. The restaurant is small so smaller groups are better. There is typically a line outside but its not to bad of a wait.

Some of the best noodle soup I’ve ever had, full stop. Very much worth standing in line for.

The moment we walked into 1915 Lanzhou Hand Pulled Noodles, the staff greeted us with warm smiles and genuine enthusiasm. They were incredibly attentive, making sure we felt welcome and suggesting their favorite dishes, which made our dining experience feel personal and special. The hand-pulled noodles were a highlight of our meal; you could taste the freshness in every bite. Watching them being made right in front of us added to the experience, and they had the perfect chewy texture that paired beautifully with the rich broth.

CC accepted, which is a convenience that isn't available at all of the restaurants in the area. Had beef braised noodles (1 regular & 1 thick noodles), cucumbers, and pan fried pork buns. Served quickly except the buns, think they forgot to put in the order, followed up 4x, think they thought we were being impatient & kept f/u unnecessarily. Other parties that were seated & ordered after us got their buns. They cleared our tables after we were done with the noodles & cucumbers, then asked if we were paying by card or cash - said we were still waiting for the buns, they were brought out some minutes later. Think it was a genuine mistake/misunderstanding, understand how some might be really impatient. We could've left a lot earlier & they could've flipped our table much sooner. But despite all that, food was DELICIOUS & will go again :)

What a great restaurant! It’s a small “hole in the ground” but the food was delicious. It’s a fast paced and crowded spot but the service has always been good, food is always hot and tastes amazing. If you’re not there by 12:30pm then be prepared to wait. There always a line around the block but for good reasons

We were walking on Mott Street in the heart of Chinatown, looking for a place to eat, and we were immediately drawn to this restaurant. First, it was new—we'd never seen it before. Later, we learned from the manager that this location had just opened two weeks prior, in February, as their second location in NYC. The signage was strikingly conspicuous: a huge white awning with in-your-face, large letters. Lastly, we were absolutely sold by the mechanized bowl of noodle soup at the entrance, with a pair of chopsticks lifting the noodles up and down. Unfortunately, it's located below street level, with a flight of stairs and no ramp, so there's no wheelchair access. The restaurant is cozy, with communal seating, and offers full service. The double-sided, one-sheet menu is very easy to read, primarily because every item has a picture. The only potential complication would be specifying the noodle type, from seven varieties. However, for us and those who order Dry Mix Noodles, there's no choice, as dry noodles only come in the regular noodle type. I ordered the D1 Special Dry Beef Noodle, and my wife ordered the D4 Stewed Beef Tripe Noodles. Both were $14.95 and exactly the same except for the protein. The manager warned me about the spiciness of these dishes, which had me worried, but they weren't that spicy at all. These are cold dishes, and the texture of the noodles couldn't have been more perfect—so springy and satisfying. The beef was thinly sliced, and they didn't skimp on the amount. The beef tripe was more tender, but I found it a bit too "gamey" for my taste. The manager told me the hand-pulled noodle master makes an average of 1,000 to 1,200 servings of noodles per day! The kitchen is behind plexiglass, so you can see the entire operation, especially the master hand-pulling noodles. The staff are friendly and courteous. They bring a portable payment device to your table for you to pay your bill on the spot. We will definitely be back. I have a feeling we've only scratched the surface. I want to try every item on both sides of the menu!

Visited about a month ago and had a great experience! Got seated right in the front of the kitchen and got to see the whole process of the food getting ready. Noodles are made right infront of you from scratch and are delicious! Tried the lamb chinese hamburger( spice kick!), pan fried buns and a noodle soup, all up to the expectations. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for some good Asian soup in the neighborhood.

Got the signature noodle with regular thickness and it did not disappoint. Paired it with coconut milk drink and it really hit the spot for lunch. I went at 1:45 PM on a Thurs and it was busy but I got seated in a few minutes. Will be back!!

One of the best handmade noodle spots I’ve tried. The noodles were perfectly chewy and fresh, and the broth was rich and full of flavor. You can tell everything is made with care and authenticity. The service was outstanding, warm, attentive, and very welcoming. I’ll definitely be back!

I was drawn to this place right away because I’m a big fan of Lanzhou noodles. The first thing that caught my eye was a fun, mechanical ramen display at the entrance, which added a unique touch to the experience. I decided to try the #1 top seller, the Signature Lanzhou Beef Noodles, and it turned out to be the best noodles I’ve ever had. The noodles were fresh and full of flavor, while the beef was juicy and tender. You can customize your soup by adding chili oil (which I tried and highly recommend) or vinegar, depending on your taste. Overall, I had an outstanding experience and would definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking to enjoy authentic Lanzhou noodles.

The food is worth the wait. Went Friday evening and there was a line. I ordered online for pickup and did some other shopping. Wait time was 35 mins per site, but the restaurant was very busy. When I returned 40 mins later, the line was much longer for those waiting to be seated. While I waited for my food at least 8 people were seated and I was apologized to for the wait being so long. I didn't mind at all because they were clearly packed and busy. I traveled home and the soup broths were still warm an hour later!!!! So good!!

Their attentiveness made our dining experience all the more enjoyable, as they genuinely seemed to care about our satisfaction. The hand-pulled noodles were a standout feature, with each bite showcasing their perfect chewiness and rich flavor. You could really taste the freshness, as they were made right in front of us, which added to the excitement of our meal. The open kitchen at 1915 Lanzhou Hand Pulled Noodles was a fantastic touch, allowing us to watch the skilled chefs at work. It was mesmerizing to see how they expertly stretched and pulled the dough, making the experience feel immersive and authentic.

1915 Lanzhou Hand Pulled Noodles truly lives up to its reputation! The flavors are bold and authentic, making every dish a delightful experience that’s hard to find anywhere else. The hand-pulled noodles were incredibly fresh and had the perfect chewy texture. You can taste the craftsmanship in every strand, especially when paired with their rich broths that enhance the overall dish. The open kitchen at 1915 Lanzhou Hand Pulled Noodles is a spectacle to behold; watching the chefs expertly pull the noodles in real-time added an exciting element to my meal. It made me appreciate the skill and tradition behind each bowl of noodles.

I finally make it to this popular spot at 2pm on a Friday after coming here and only turning around because of the long line outside so many times. Yes, I can see why it’s so hard to get into, because the noodles here taste so freaking good! One thing about Chinese food in Manhattan is the lack of great northern Chinese cuisines because the majority of Chinese immigrants here seem to be from the south. But this restaurant makes up the gap. Their noodles are super authentic, delicious and traditional Northern Chinese flavors. It’s a good example of the northern flavors: strong, thick, flavorful, very different from the south. Xi’an Famous Food is northern but it gets too corporate. This place tastes more comforting.

Came for dinner with my husband and 9-month old and we really enjoyed it! We both got the N3, mine with thick noodles and his with wide noodles. Very flavorful and you get a lot for the price. Noodles are made in-house, and made to order. We also got the pork and chive dumplings. Special shout out to all of the servers, especially Jason! Thank you for keeping our daughter entertained. She definitely made some new friends. The hospitality we received made the experience even better. My only wish is that the food came all together, as I had to wait about 10 minutes for my husband to get his food after getting mine, and the dumplings came towards the end.

J
James Roseborough

Wonderfully flavored noodle dished and dumplings featuring hand made noodles, unsurprisingly, given the name of the place. Atmosphere gets full marks for the packed-in tight and bustling interior with brightly colored decoration throughout. Highly attentive staff, who mean it when they tell you a dish is spicy!

Had a phenomenal experience here. We waited for 5-10 minutes which wasn’t too bad and got sat at the bar, which was awesome as we were able to watch the noodles get pulled by hand during our meal. Got the Signature Lanzhou Beef noodles and they were phenomenal. Probably the best noodles I’ve ever had. The broth and beef are so good, and you can get them whatever thickness you want, we got “Thicker” which legitimately came with some scissors to break apart the noodles as they were thick and a bit springy. Will be going again!

Amazing food. Ordered for pickup and waa ready fast. The dumpling sauce is phenomenal. I got the beef dry noodles, amazing flavor and the spice made my mouth tingle! Garlic cucumbers are a must. Very friendly service too!

Busy on a week-day evening but people move in and out pretty quickly. The service is fast, my food came out within a few minutes. The broth is flavorful but not too strong and the noodles were cooked perfectly. I enjoyed my meal. I'll try one of the more spicy dishes next time!

We went to 1915 Lanzhou Hand Pulled Noodles as a party of four at around 6:30 PM. Since the noodle shop is very famous, it was already packed, and there was a line. We had to wait for around 30 minutes to get a table. For a party of two, the wait is shorter. But the staff was really managing the line. We were sitted at a simple wooden table. I ordered the signature beef noodles with wide noodles (you can have 7 varieties) and to share the pan-fried buns. It took a while to get the food, but since you can watch the kitchen making noodles, the wait doesn't feel that long. The food came, and from the steaming noodles smell, you could tell they were authentic. Different from ramen, they smelled like a Chinese shop (in a positive sense). The taste was great since you could tell apart the taste of the slightly chewy noodles, the stewed beef slices, reddish, cilantro, green onions, chili oil, and more. Together with the pan-fried buns - which were slightly chewy outside, had a pork filling and came with a special sauce - it was a taste extravaganza! Btw, the portion was plenty. Furthermore, the staff was really friendly, and presented the bill in a very transparent way. This way, we felt very comfortable and respected - even though we were clearly tourists. Of course, I chose the 20% tip option on the tablet.

It is nice place to dine in with friends. I had been there a few times, each time I tried different dish on their menu. They never let me down so far. As a vegan, the spicy oil spill noodles and scallions noodles are my favorites.

The staff at 1915 Lanzhou Hand Pulled Noodles went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. They greeted us with warm smiles and were eager to share their favorites from the menu, which really added to the cozy atmosphere. This place definitely lives up to its reputation! The flavors were incredible, and each dish was crafted with such care, making it clear why so many people rave about it. The hand-pulled noodles were a standout—perfectly chewy and made fresh right in front of us. You can taste the difference, and it's hard to go back to store-bought after experiencing this! I loved the open kitchen at 1915 Lanzhou Hand Pulled Noodles, as it gave us a front-row seat to the noodle-making process. Watching the chefs expertly pull and stretch the dough was mesmerizing and added a unique touch to our dining experience.

Tucked in the heart of Manhattan’s Chinatown, 1915 Lanzhou Beef Noodles is a cozy, authentic spot that instantly grabs your attention with its bold signage and a playful bowl-shaped logo featuring animated chopsticks pulling noodles skyward—a clever and welcoming touch. Step inside, and you’re transported straight to China. Chinese pop music fills the air, the interior is warmly decorated with wood paneling, and the open kitchen puts on a live show: a skilled chef rhythmically hand-pulling fresh noodles behind a glass window, a sight that adds excitement and authenticity to the experience. One of the coolest features? You get to choose your noodle style—from thin and regular to thicker, wide, extra wide, and even “prism” cut. It’s a small detail, but it makes the whole ordering process feel personal. We went with the signature Lanzhou beef noodle soup, and it was exceptional. The broth is deep and savory, the hand-pulled noodles have that perfect chew—soft yet resilient—and the generous slices of beef are tender and flavorful. What ties it all together are the classic garnishes: crisp white radish, fragrant scallions, and a drizzle of chili oil that adds warmth without overpowering the dish. Every component is in balance, and the freshness shines through in every bite. As someone who’s actually been to Lanzhou, I can say this bowl is the real deal—comforting, rich, and remarkably true to its roots. If you’re a noodle lover or just craving something soulful and satisfying, this spot is a must-visit.

I brought my American friends here, they alllll love it. The noodles are handmade, live on the spot. Flavor is exactly the same as Chinese local restaurants. Bring me back home every bite.

The noodles were chewy fresh and tasted great. The soup was so flavorful and even dried noodles were great, full of spicy beef and veggies. The wide noodles were so yummy but as well. We waited for 15 - 20 mins in the line on a Thursday afternoon, the place was packed but they bring the food fast. The service can be a little better but the guy at the cashier was so nice and welcoming. Great experience.

Great and cheap food, the waiter was nice and recommended us great options. The dumplings were alright, but nothing compared to the noodle dishes. Often busy due to limited seating, but quick service and turnover.

If I could give this a 6th star for authenticity I would! We shared the garlic cucumbers and then I had the dried pork noodles and my daughter had the original beef noodle soup. All of it was amazing! The place was packed and it was 30 min to close on a Wednesday. The service was friendly and fast. Watching them hand pull noodles was a real treat too! The dishes average only 13-14.95 a plate and the portions are generous for anywhere not just NYC. Small dining room but the bathroom was clean and it wasn’t too loud. We could easily converse.

J
Jenn G

This place was busy and packed, but watching the “noodle puller” at work was definitely entertaining. We ordered the Pork and Chive Dumplings, which were very tasty, and the Pan-Fried Buns. Splitting those two dishes was plenty for the two of us. We considered trying the pulled noodles, but with the weather being so hot, it didn’t feel like a day for soup. I’d happily return to this restaurant whenever I’m in Chinatown.

R
Raul Valverde

Incredible flavor, well-balanced and rich lanzhou soup. There is a person dedicated exclusively to hand pull noodles, so you can choose thickness, and another to make dumplings and buns. The broth is fantastic, good service and nice decoration for a basement and NYC standards. Absolutely recommended!

I can definitely see why this place is a favorite. If you come around rush hour, expect a long line outside because it’s very popular. The food was so good and full of flavor. I ordered the signature Lanzhou beef noodle soup, and it was delicious with a very big portion, I couldn’t even finish it. The Langya fried potato strips were amazing and very tasty. The traditional pan pork fried buns were also delicious. I also tried the beef Chinese hamburger and it was good. The sliced beef with chili sauce was very flavorful, and the meat was cooked perfectly. They also have beer, sake, and soju if you want something to drink with your meal. The service was great even when pack and busy. I can see why this place is always packed and busy. I will definitely come back the next time I’m in Chinatown.

Arguably one of the hardest spots to get a seat at in Chinatown, Lanzhou definitely lives up to the hype. They open at 11 am, and we tried to get inside at 10:45 but were told to wait until 11, probably to keep everyone in line. The place quickly filled up after they opened the doors, but the staff was diligent and served us quickly. For a mini appetizer (but more so just cause I wanted to try it) we had the Chinese burger, which was great and super tasty. If I was to come back the burger would definitely be something I’d get again. For our noodles, we did pretty much one spicy version and one traditional version. I loved the flavor of the spice, and I found the balance with the broth to be perfect. The portions were great too, with more than enough to fill you up. The noodles had great texture, and you could taste the freshness in the rest of the ingredients. While coming back here is tricky with the crowds, I’d recommend it for someone trying to determine whether it’s worth it or not.

Best noodles I have ever had. Perfectly aldente. Texture unmatched in all honesty. At first I was like oh should I have gotten a soup? Don't get me wrong the soups are great, but to really appreciate the noodles you don't need any broth. Very flavorful decent spice level. 👌 Will be back.

Walking around aimlessly in Chinatown was fun but I was looking for some grub when out of the corner of my eye 👁️ I spied this place and knew it was time.. Entered the establishment, it was very small but packed, not an empty seat in the house and a few people standing in the doorway, and sitting in the 5 chairs they have for incoming guests. Was blown away by the vibe, the busy restaurant , the lively kitchen, the master noodle puller, the sight and smells were overwhelming.. I couldn’t wait to eat.. I wanted everything. Food was hot and fresh, dumplings were stellar, pork filled buns were to die for, and that hot chili oil was slappin. Very impressed, would definitely go here again..

I checked in for the very first time a little while ago. I was really surprised by how good the food was. I ordered handmade braised beef noodles and a plate of potstickers. The noodle soup was extremely healing. The potstickers were clean and nice yet flavorful. The shop is small but the servers are helpful with keeping the place neat. I highly recommend this place if you don’t mind a little wait in a line:P

I saw this place online and it didn’t disappoint. They did have a bit of a line out the door but the line moves fast. We got seated in about ten minutes. Soooo good! You can choose your noodle shape. I waited around 30 min to get a table - was worth the wait - Signature Lanzhou beef noodles w/ extra wide noodles: 10/10, I liked the broth flavor, and the noodles were so chewy. Meat was tender. A bit too oily tho. Def wanna get this again

Me and my boyfriend came to NY for a visit and came upon this cozy restaurant. It was small, but MIGHTY in flavors! The pork and basil wontons were DELICIOUS! I’ve never tasted a better dumpling before. I initially just ordered the dumplings, but I saw a line form down the sidewalk to get in, so I thought I must have been missing out, so I ordered the beef braised noodles,…. OMG…..they were phenomenal!!! My boyfriend isn’t usually a fan of noodles, but he cleaned his bowl!!! That beef was braised to PERFECTION!!!! Idk how we found this place, but I’m pinning it in google maps for our next visit!!! The service was amazing also. I love how they pay attention to the guests .Must visit….you won’t be disappointed!

Efficient and friendly service. Love that they serve basil-lemon water. Tables are slightly crowded but the atmosphere and lighting is great. Food is delicious and the spice level was hitting the spot! They have a tea pot of vinegar if you like a more sour taste which I really appreciated!

Food was delicious and very hot which was extremely nice for a low 40s weather night. Must order the traditional buns. Amazing hand made noodles, I enjoyed a very spicy dish exploding with flavor. Spicy rating’s high if you’re looking for something with an extra kick. After the first few bites spicy levels receded. If you are not accustomed to spicy foods maybe be a little more reserved and skip the spicy dish. A must try on your next visit to china town.

I’ve seen this place all over TikTok and had been wanting to try it for so long , and it absolutely did not disappoint. The line is definitely slow, especially on weekends, but honestly the food is worth the wait. The noodles are incredibly fresh , you can taste it in every bite , and the broth is rich, flavorful, and a dream for any broth lover. The beef melts in your mouth instantly. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Local and the best hand pulled noodles in NYC Chinatown. It is hard to miss as it is one of the first stores in the street, and always has a lineup. Just follow their recommendations and you should be good. Bonus: you get to see the chef make the noodles right in front of you if you take a seat at the bar!

A fantastic spot for noodles! The signature Lanzhou noodles were excellent. The fresh hand pulled noodles had a great consistency and chew. The broth was rich and delicious. The beef was tender and the veggies were fresh. I really liked the lamb burger. The bun was soft with a light crisp and the meat was seasoned well. The wontons in spicy oil was also delicious. It was a Friday afternoon and the place was packed. We waited about 10 minutes to be seated. The service was great. Would recommend!

Stop by again to rethink just how hand pulled Noodles are a premium Fresh Taste Broth of wholesome flavourful cuisine dish! I've now gone to appreciate the hard labor of homemade type of heartfelt cooking by traditional standards. Since the last time the establishment has gained more appeal in customer foot traffic as more gentrification in the area still keeps this business popular for their ideal Chinese ritual customs to remain current in future competitive sense of Asean-Asian geographic region spices, textures, fresh ingredients, and ancestral treasured homemade recipes! While Chinatown has grown with time shifting venue, finance, economic challenges, this Foodie Favourite enraptures many tasters with a BURST of distinct SABOR to awaken your PALETTE! I've tried few different dishes and really like Beef Noodles. SPICEY mixed with veggies! I recommend this blend of recipe of menu options.

Finally got a chance to try this place! The broth is so delicious! I highly recommend the signature beef noodle soup. One thing I don’t understand is why only served cold water, no hot tea at an Asian restaurant.😭

First time trying this place. Went on a weekend and there was a line but the line was pretty fast. Waited about 15-20min then we got our table. This place is always crowded so always with a line. You can't just come in on a weekend and expect to get a table right when you get into the restaurant (shout out to the group of guys who left right away when they couldn't get the empty table when they came in). The place is small so it's a shared table when you come solo or party of 2. Food came out pretty fast. The appetizers were a decent portion but the beef tripes were pretty deceiving with so much cucumber underneath. The staff were patient and efficient. They have different styles of noodles from thin to wide and prism. If you can handle spicy food and have not try lanzhou noodles before, you can try this place. they also have non spicy choices on the menu.

this is a bowl of noodles you need on a cold day! the broth is clear yet savory and the splash of chili oil is the perfect dash of spice! it’s a perfect amount to fill you up but doesn’t make you feel over stuffed. the wontons in chili oil are so soft and packed with meat. a good add-on/appetizer to eat with your noodles! unfortunately the space is EXTREMELY small. so don’t expect to be seated right away if you have a party of 3 or more. while for us the spacing wasn’t too troublesome it can be a bit uncomfortable getting seated at your table. i would still 100% come back!

The place is captivating with its history and the fact that it was opened in 1915. I hope the recipe and cooking technique come from that time. It's delicious, the portion is a good size and what's most surprising is a lot of meat!

Yummy! I think the pork dry noodles could use more flavor/sauce, but otherwise solid. Love the wontons!! Add the sauce the wontons come in to the dry noodles :)

My waiter was very attentive to detail and service was very swift. Food came out quick! The food itself was very delicious.

The tastes of people waiting in long queue don't lie. My curiosity about this restaurant started when I saw a long queue of people waiting while walking through Soho. I ordered the signature soup noodle among the many menus. I got it to go and ate it at home, and I felt that they packaged the noodles, soup, meat, and coriander separately, which was very thoughtful. The broth had a clean and refreshing taste that came from the radish, and I could choose the type of noodles from thin to thick to suit my taste, and the meat topping was soft. T.M.I🤫The chili oil sauce was addictive, so if you enjoy the clear soup first and then add chili oil later, you can enjoy two way charms of noodles.

Awesome noodle. Love the options on type of thickness. Must try also their pan fried bao. We were there in the midst of snow storms. Near the door was drafty, beware

If you’re claustrophobic, this might not be the best dine-in spot — it’s small, crowded, and pretty loud. I’d recommend ordering to go and enjoying it at a park, or waiting for a seat along the wall if you want to stay. The staff isn’t the most attentive, but the food makes up for it. The noodles are hand-pulled and very fresh, and the broth is flavorful (though the spicy version leans a bit oily). I love that you can choose from different noodle types — I went with prism, which had a great chewy texture.

Nice hand pulled noodles. We liked the regular ones, more than the thicker ones. They were smooth like spaghetti and had a nice chew. Really enjoyed their fried dumplings. They come with a batter crust. Will definitely be back! Great view of the kitchen where you can see noodles being made.

We came for lunch on a Sunday and waited about 10-15 minutes to be seated. We ordered a variety of noodles and appetizers. All the noodle textures were excellent and had great mouth feel. The beef noodle soup was my favorite. The soup was flavorful and clean and the beef was very tender. The special beef noodle soup was my next favorite. The soup was also very clean tasting with thin slices of beef. The dry noodle was good, but I do not see myself getting it again. The flavor felt very one dimensional, but the wild noodles were fun to eat. The garlic cucumbers are a must and were refreshing. The beef tripe and wontons were very flavorful as well. Overall I would recommend 1915 for solid noodles. I would definitely get the braised beef noodle soup and cucumbers, and try a different dry noodle the next time I visit.

Food tastes amazing, although the portion size is less than shown in the images (but the portion is still good). Only issue is the AC in here, it's blowing directly at customers head if you're sitting in the center.

Right in the heart of Chinatown, this place serves incredibly fresh noodle and dumpling dishes. So fresh that I watched them make my dumplings in the kitchens window in front of me. Pork and chive dumplings were great. Wish they had cheaper dumpling options for partial plates so I could mix and match though.

The restaurant is bustling with people enjoying hot bowls of noodles. I ordered the braised beef noodles, and the soup was particularly comforting on a cold afternoon. However, the portions of meat were a bit disappointing. It was only four to five small squares of meat.

Good place to stop in on a cold day like today. Great hand pull noodle. The soup is excellent. The pan fried bun were awesome. Disappointed at a chinese restaruant that don't serve hot tea or hot water.

First time here, it was pouring and the line was still long, so we knew it had to be good. The steps going down were slippery but we were fine, it was tight like all the other restaurants in NYC. We ordered a dry noodle and a soup noodles dish with 2 types of dumplings. The dumplings were just ok but the hand pulled noodles were 10 out of 10.

Came here for an early dinner on Halloween 🎃 2025. The place is small. The seating is tight. The hand pulled noodles at the star ⭐️. Some of the flavors fell a little short for me. But this place has been around since 1915. So it is a must try. Reasonably priced. Card payments are accepted. Always a line. Give it a try and you decide.

When first walked in, I immediately smelled the delicious smell of beef noodles, I really recommend this restaurant. This place is also pretty nice and comfortable. The staffs are very friendly and nice. The food tastes great and I enjoyed this place as a lunch restaurant. We could also see how did the chef cook and the ingredients that they used.

Very busy hole in the wall that nevertheless accommodated our party of five, with noodles (of customisable size) that walk the walk spice-wise. Not all the servers seem to speak Mandarin, one order was forgotten in the rush, and the rou jian mou was somewhat dry. But this is good, high 2:1 standard. Spicy wontons especially were on point.

Willow

Tasty food for fair prices. The pork and leak dumplings are tasty and I highly recommend the pork "hamburger". It was spicy and the pork was so tender. The braised beef soup was just okay, the beef was fatty and the broth could've had more flavor but the hand pulled noodles are the star, fresh and delicious, you watch them get pulled right in front of you. There's limited seating so when it's busy you will get seated next to others at the same table. Overall I liked it but not sure how quickly I'll be rushing back here.

TLDR- staff was scrambling and let other groups go before us because she forgot we were waiting. Food was still good. Tip- be vocal about waiting for your table because the staff might forget you if other groups start coming in. 2nd tip- order with the QR code at your table We came here on a Saturday around 12:15pm. there was an event happening in Chinatown, so it was pretty busy. We were waiting for a table of 3 and the staff told us about a 30 minute wait. As we were waiting, four to five groups of 2 came in asking if there were seats. Unlucky for us, three or four groups were seated and it seems like she seated them all in tables for 2. After that was settled and she asked us what take out order are we waiting for. We corrected her saying we were waiting for a table of 3. That’s when she came to a realization she forgot us and tried to reassure us we will get a seat soon. We ended up waiting 50 minutes for a seat. We finally ordered our food and when it came out, it was very good. The soup was nice and flavorful and the chill oil was not super spicy. The pan fried bun was crispy but I would prefer more thickness to the bun. The pork hamburger was nothing special. Would I come back? Maybe, if there’s no wait for seating.

J

Noodles were excellent although the sauce was very spicy ! Getting cold everything a customer was opening the door as we were seating close to it. We ordered chicken/shrimp dumplings but were served pork/chive dumplings... We informed the waiter to be told that it was indeed chicken/shrimp ... Not too sure about resto choice

A fine spot in Chinatown for classic Chinese — I ordered their woodear mushroom, scallion pancake, and original beef noodle soup. Nothing blew me away (the woodear too vinegary, the pancake bland) but the thick noodles were definitely handmade! Very comforting texture and the soup was warming as well. Probably won’t return but recommend trying at least once!

Finally made it here one weekday during off-lunch hours (I think it was ~3pm). Even then, the place was packed--I think my friend waited 10 min to be seated. My Spicy Oil Spill Noodle with extra wide noodles was perfectly al dente, but the house special chili oil was pretty bland. My friend's noodz were similarly good quality, but the seasoning was lacking. Where 1915 disappointed me was in cleanliness and service. I don't expect Michelin-star service in Chinatown, but I do expect efficiency. They were so busy that we waited nearly 15 min to get menus, and even then, we had to ask for them first. It was similarly difficult to flag anyone down just to clear our bowls or get the check. And they were too busy to clear any of the nearby vacated tables, resulting in, well, flies buzzing around us all meal. Ugh.

We were super excited to try this on an evening on a weekday because we always see long lines. The tables get cleared rather slow so people are seated slower. It took 15 minutes to be seated and then an additional 10 or so for anyone to take our order. We got the signature with wide noodles and handmade beef noodles with regular noodles and a lamb burger. The noodles came out fast. Both signature and handmade beef broth were a little spicy and it was hard to taste anything else. Both noodles got tastier as we kept eating but they didn't have the bounce that I was expecting. I do wish I had gotten slightly thick noodles because the regular felt a little soft and thin after it soaked up the broth but it was still good to be able to choose different noodle types to try. The beef in the handmade beef noodles were tough and hard to chew. The lamb burger was a bit dry and I felt like it needed more sauce. There's communal water containers on each table but our servers didn't give us water cups at all so that was a bummer. They do serve alcohol and other drinks as well. Overall it was a fun experience but I don't think I'd go back because of the long line and the food was nothing special and the noodles weren't as bouncy.

T
Ting Wai Tu

We didn't wait long for a table. The flavors are on point and it's nice you get to choose the type of noodle you want. We got a soup and dry noodle, a bit of a wait as it was quite packed. The dry noodle came first then the soup. Both lukewarm, which I don't get how can the soup be just warm unless they were just sitting on a counter too long. Really thin slices of beef in the 牛肉麵 could be a bit thicker, 炸醬麵 I'm not entirely sure if it needs the crunch of fried peas? Again just lukewarm, I'm eating this while watching a young lady blow on her noodles like it's too hot! I'm laughing inside my head but maybe more of how this simple noodle cost the same as the beef noodle. Nice they take cc but slightly over priced for what it is.

Came here on a Monday afternoon and tried the Signature Lanzhou Beef Noodle, Special Dry Beef Noodles, and the Traditional Pan-Fried Buns. The food did not disappoint—noodles were perfectly chewy, the broth was rich and flavorful, and the dry noodle sauce was delicious with just the right amount of spice. The pan-fried buns were juicy with a crispy exterior—great texture and taste. That said, the service left a lot of disappointment. Despite the restaurant being mostly empty, we had to ask multiple times just to place our order. We also weren’t given cups for the self-serve water until we asked again after ordering. Most disappointing of all, our appetizer arrived 30 minutes after our main dishes, even though the table behind us ordered the same buns 10 minutes after us and got theirs much faster. We had to ask twice about our appetizer for it to finally come out. Overall the food is excellent, but the service really took away from the experience. Would I come back? Maybe—for the noodles, but I hope they work on the hospitality side.

This place is 110% overrated and overpriced. Ignore what they say about their broth being cooked 8 hours. All I tasted was sodium. Having had the most transcendental bowl of beef noodles in Lanzhou, I might have had higher expectations than most but I found nothing redeeming about my meal. The gizzards at 12.95 was monumentally disappointing. It was mostly cilantro stalks. While the variety of noodle options range from thin to wide to double wide and prism, the quality of the food is nothing to write home about sadly.

L
Lisa.K

It was ok. The Chinese burger was a bit salty. Wish they add more cilantro. Or option to add more. It’s great that you can pick the type of noodles.

Recommended by a friend at NYC and went to the wrong shop HHHAHAH (go to the other 1915 that is not at Chinatown!!) Almost finished my noodle and my friend told me I went to the wrong one and it was true. This shop - the noodle itself was not bad, but the flavor was definitely lacking and it was definitely too much oil in the oil splash (油泼). The chicken dumplings turned out to be much better!!!

O V H

This was good food but not great. I was hoping for spicier and for stronger flavors. I ordered the beef stew. It is just paper thin cuts of meat with paper thin cuts of some white root vegetable and noodles. Boiled egg, bok choy, tofu, etc are all extra. That would make this a bit expensive. The pork dumplings are amazing. They are open sided, which I have never seen before and they give you a lot. The restaurant decor is adorable!

Very slow. Apart from the waiting time (around 1h 30 min, 1:30 PM, in a really cold Saturday of February), hand pulled noodle chef had a 25 min break time and this paralizes all the orders. Because all the noodles are made freshly at that moment, we had to wait 30 min more just for a bowl of noodles. This is not a bad place at all. But because of TikTok and social media, this restaurant became a very busy place. The N1 Signature Noodles are average. Noodles are quite good, soup is ok and a bit salty. Also another thing to point out is that when we asked about the waiting time, waiters were not clear or didn't tell anyone why the service was so slow. All the workers were just waiting until the chef came back and resume making more noodles. So, basically, 2/3 of the customers were just waiting in the tables. We had a very disappointing experience here. I just wish they could be more efficient and provide a better customer service.

M
Markus

I really wanted to enjoy this place, but my experience was far from comfortable. I was seated right next to the entrance, and with temperatures around 2°C, cold air kept coming in every time the door opened. On top of that, the air conditioner was blowing directly on my neck from the other side. Because of this, my food felt almost cold by the time it arrived. Watching the chef hand-pull noodles is definitely a fun „highlight“ and adds to the authenticity. However, the restaurant is extremely crowded and tightly packed. Even though it allows many customers to fit inside, it creates a very cramped and uncomfortable atmosphere. People had to squeeze past my table every 30 seconds to reach the counter behind me. The staff is incredibly fast and efficient, and the food was served quickly. But the pace is so rushed that you get the impression they want you in and out as fast as possible. Overall, while the food quality and presentation are okay, the uncomfortable seating, cold drafts, and hectic environment made the experience much less enjoyable than expected.

I was excited to try this spot but today I was pretty disappointed. I ordered their signature Lanzhou Beef Noodle for takeout . The broth was really good and delicious, but the noodles were not cooked properly and were hard to chew. This place is known for their hand pulled noodles and it honestly made me sad.

R
Ruoxi Lu

Noodles are hand-pulled but that’s it, not chewy at all. Would definitely avoid any other items like dumplings. Service btw is horrible. The manager was very rude, cursing their own chef and delivery guy. Toxic atmosphere

C

We waited 45 minutes to be seated because this place is highly recommended on TikTok, but honestly, it was not worth the wait. We were seated at a shared table in between two couples (which is understandable since the place is small), but after that, we were basically ignored. The staff was chatting and taking care of everyone around us, while we kept trying to get someone’s attention to take our order. When a waiter finally came, he seemed confused about why we were asking him to take our order, which made the service feel disorganized and uncomfortable. The worst part was the food. After eating the noodles, both of us felt sick for the rest of the day. I’m not sure if it was the oil, the chili, or something else, but our stomachs were very uncomfortable. Overall, the experience did not match the hype at all. Poor service, long wait, and food that didn’t sit well with us.

A
Amelia Liu

I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. The service was extremely poor — the waiter seemed distracted while taking my order, and I ended up receiving the wrong dish with two items missing. When I politely pointed this out, the staff refused to correct the mistake at first and responded with a very rude and unfriendly attitude. Eventually, they changed the dish unwillingly, but one of the items I ordered was still missing. Throughout the entire experience, no one offered an apology or made any effort to provide proper service. The food itself tasted just okay and definitely did not match the high prices. Overall, I do not recommend this place.

Found a disturbing foreign object in my food that looked like a piece of animal tissue. It immediately made me feel nauseous and almost vomit. This is a serious food safety and hygiene issue. Restaurants can be busy, but there is no excuse for food being prepared like this. Very concerning experience.
