Today we celebrated my son and wife’s birthdays together at Bungalow. It was an amazing dinner here. Truly a multi sensory experience! We’ve been following Chef Vikas Khanna on social media and it would have been amazing to meet him, but he’s in India right now to promote the latest season of Master Chef. We ordered Yogurt Kebab, Anarkali Chicken, Chicken Amritsari, Spice Roasted Pineapple, and Rose Kulfi Falooda. The yogurt kebab was absolutely delicious and highly recommend this unique dish. Both the chicken dishes were really good and all the sauces were tasty with a modern twist. The five cheese kulcha stuffed with Amul cheese reminds you of your childhood for those who grew up in India. Rose Kulfi Falooda was wonderful and it has all the classic falooda flavors and looks nothing like it. The atmosphere, service, fantastic desi music, and hospitality is unmatched from the moment you walk in. We had an absolutely fantastic experience at the Bungalow!

Exceptional experience. Loved the atmosphere & ambience. The service was great & food was delicious. The signature dahi kabab & spiced pineapple lived up to the hype we had heard & more. Mango 3 ways was uber delicious as was everything else we ordered. Looking forward to the next time! Since we were celebrating our anniversaries, they presented us with a lovely banana dessert on the house.

We had a wonderful experience dining at Bungalow today. The warm, cozy interior, beautifully adorned with floral decor and vintage Indian architecture, made us feel instantly at home. Chef Vikas Khanna was incredibly welcoming, genuine, and down-to-earth, which made the evening even more special. The food was truly soul-nourishing, every dish not only tasted amazing but brought back the comforting flavors of home. Our favorites were the Yogurt Kebab, Spice Roasted Pineapple, Rajasthani Lamb, and the delightful Rose Falooda. Thank you for a memorable meal, we can’t wait to return.

Bungalow in New York is a beautiful celebration of Indian flavors with a modern, elevated touch. Helmed by the legendary Chef Vikas Khanna, the restaurant effortlessly blends nostalgia with innovation. The rustic ambience instantly draws you in warm, earthy, and thoughtfully designed, it feels both upscale and comforting, like a stylish rhyme to India. The cocktails were a standout. The Chai Pani cocktail was bold and aromatic with just the right hint of spice, while the Mango Lassi cocktail was smooth, refreshing, and perfectly balanced playful yet refined. For food, the Amritsari chicken curry was exceptional and packed with authentic flavor. Dessert was the perfect finale. The rose falooda was light, fragrant, and nostalgic, ending the meal on a sweet and refreshing . What truly elevated the experience, though, was Chef Vikas himself coming to our table with dessert and sharing a warm, genuine conversation. That personal touch made the evening feel incredibly special and memorable. Overall, Bungalow delivers not just a meal but an experience thoughtful food, inventive drinks, and an atmosphere that feels soulful. A must visit for anyone who appreciates Indian cuisine reimagined with heart and finesse.

Visiting Bungalow at NYC was an amazing experience. Getting the reservation was really challenging, the reservation is done online 20 days in advance and it gets fully booked within a couple of minutes. Nevertheless they offer you some places in the bar area if you walk in without reservations. I contacted them earlier in mail and confirmed the foods are Halal, and the server also confirmed. Coming to the dishes, we tried a full 3 course meal with appetizers, entrees and desserts as they recommend. As appetizers we tried yogurt kabab and shrimp balchao cones. Both of them were amazing but the yogurt kabab was unique. As entree we took the lamb curry and chicken biryani. They were different from traditional Indian places but nothing too extraordinary. The desserts were really nice and they also offer a complementary dessert outside of the menu if you’re celebrating something. Celebrity Chef Vikas looks after all the guests and greets every table seeking feedback on the food. The reservation is challenging, the foods are somewhat expensive but still these are completely worth it and I recommend Bungalow to everyone.

I recently had the most incredible, world-class dining experience at Bungalow, and it's truly a must-visit in New York. The moment we stepped inside, the warm and cozy interior made us feel instantly at home. The restaurant is beautifully adorned with gorgeous floral decor and vintage Indian architecture, setting a sophisticated yet comfortable scene for the evening. The ambiance is quiet and perfect for intimate conversation or a special date night. The hospitality is exceptional from start to finish. Chef Vikas Khanna himself was incredibly welcoming, genuine, and down-to-earth, and his amazing staff provided warm, attentive service that made the evening even more special. Every plate that arrived felt like a masterpiece. The food is genuinely soul-nourishing; every dish not only tasted amazing but brought back those comforting, authentic flavors of home. We enjoyed incredible, beautifully crafted cocktails, and our favorite dishes were the Yogurt Kebab, the savory Rajasthani Lamb, and the truly delightful Rose Falooda to finish. The personalized service, flavors, and stunning ambiance make Bungalow an evening we will truly cherish forever. If you appreciate top-tier Indian dining and exceptional hospitality, you need to visit Bungalow. Thank you for a truly memorable meal, we cannot wait to return.

We tried this East Village spot on a winter evening. Getting a reservation wasn’t easy—we booked almost 20 days in advance—but the experience lived up to the hype. We were welcomed with a pumpkin soup that was warm and comforting, perfect for the cold outside. For appetizers, we ordered the Yogurt Kebabs and the Malwani Fish Tikka, and the kebabs really stood out. Crisp on the outside, hot inside, and full of flavor. We also tried two mocktails, Golden City and Guava Lemonade. Both paired well with the food, though a heads-up: if you’re sensitive to spice, sip the Guava Lemonade with a straw since the rim is heavily spiced. For mains, we went with the Alleppey Shrimp Curry and Chicken Amritsari, along with basmati rice and butter naan. I really enjoyed the Chicken Amritsari—the gravy was lightly sweet and creamy—but opinions at the table were mixed, with some feeling it was similar to what you’d find at other Indian restaurants. We ended with the Mango Three Ways dessert. The mango gravy was good, but the ice cream was quite hard and difficult to break into. Overall, we had a good time and would visit again, though it’s worth noting that the food is on the pricier side.

Crying over how amazing this meal was. Every single dish was exquisite and the service was fantastic as well. Go with a group so you can try a bunch of different things. We loved the Anarkali Chicken, Yogurt Kabab, Ammi's Lamb Chops, Prawn Balchão, and Chicken Amritsari. The cocktails were also really good. Unfortunately I've only eaten here once and that's only because I can't get a reservation easily. That's the only downside. Highly, highly recommend eating here.

Went to Bungalow recently and overall it was a great experience with really good vibes. One of the best parts was seeing Vikas Khanna greeting almost everyone - warm, present, and genuinely welcoming. The service was amazing too: attentive, smooth, and made the whole evening feel easy. Food-wise, we ordered the Dal Bunglow and Paneer Lazeez. Both were solid and comforting, but honestly not something I haven’t had before. The yogurt kebabs were a nice standout - good, a little different, and really enjoyable. Dessert surprised me the most: the rose falooda was so different and delicious that even though I’m not a sweet-tooth person, I couldn’t stop after the first bite. For drinks, we tried Kaali Peeli and lemon/masala soda. Kaali Peeli was average, but the masala soda really hit the spot—super refreshing and flavorful. Overall: good place, great vibes, and excellent service. That said, I’m glad I went, the experience was lovely.

Had such a great time at Bungalow! Yogurt kebabs were perfectly crispy on the outside and so soft inside. Anarkali chicken was full of rich, comforting flavors, and the roasted pineapple curry really surprised us in the best way sweet, balanced, and unique. Rose kulfi falooda was perfect balance of sweetness on palate. Meeting Chef Vikas made the experience even more special. He was incredibly humble and genuinely passionate, which really shows in the food. You can feel the care and thought in every dish. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a memorable Indian dining experience.

An outstanding dining experience from start to finish. You can taste Chef’s magic touch in all dishes. The food were absolutely top-notch and rich in flavor, beautifully balanced, and clearly made with expertise and passion. Every bite reflected authentic Indian taste and quality ingredients. The vibe of the restaurant was classy yet welcoming & warming, creating the perfect setting for a memorable meal. The staff were attentive, polite, and genuinely warm, adding to the overall 5-star experience. They served complementory desert as it was my wife's birthday. I highly recommended for anyone who wants to enjoy exceptional Indian cuisine. 🌟🍽️

Figured the snowstorm would be the perfect time to get a reservation at Bungalow and it was! From first entering the restaurant, the service is just outstanding. Everyone was very warm and kind and welcoming. Our server, Robert was great and explained the menu so well and his recommendations made our experience even better. Everything is served family style so you’re getting a good amount of food for an excellent food experience

SO worth the constant checking for reservations, and SO exceeded the hype! Just finished an amazing meal here, so good I was literally bursting at the seams and had to unbutton my bottoms because of how much I ate. We had the yogurt kebab (absolutely above my expectations and my expectations were high), puri, lamb chops, railway chicken curry, shrimp curry, spiced pineapple, and stuffed okra. The gravy for the stuffed okra was especially good but to be honest it was all spectacular. We somehow made room for dessert, the rose faluda and mango. It was my in-laws 40th anniversary and they kindly presented a banoffee with a candle too! The service from walking in to standing up to leave was impeccable. Everyone was super attentive but didn't hover, dishes came out very quickly, and our water glasses were always filled. Drink wise I had the golden city, my partner had the paan cocktail, and my MIL had a turmeric cocktail. All beautifully presented and hit the right flavor notes. The option for a lemon, lime, or cucumber in the water was an appreciated touch. The masala chai finished us off. I think I'm rolling home tonight but in the best way. Prices were reasonable for the ingredient quality and portions. I love the ambiance - I felt like I was at my rich Aunty's house but eating like I was in someone's private kitchen.

We came here for our friends bday dinner and had lovely experience. Drinks were very good and incorporated Indian spices very well (the sweet potato martini had perfect balance of rose and lychee flavor). All the starter apps were great — modern take on classics. The anarkali chicken was the tables favorite: meat was very soft and sauce was flavorful and not too spicy. The yogurt-ginger kebab cheese was also well liked. Ambiance was great and they played music at normal volume so you can still have conversation comfortably. Service was good; staff were all very kind and hospitable. Notes for the items we ordered: - Pumpkin coconut soup: fire - Mango Lassi: didn’t try but my friend said it was satisfying - Golden Temple: don’t remember - Kaali Peeli Taxi: margarita type (I was close to trading with my friend) - Sweet potato martini: very good - Cauliflower 101: good - Yogurt-Ginger Kebab: interesting taste and cheesy - Anarkali Chicken: YUMMY - Lamb Chops: mid, spices were not of my liking - Eggplant Bharta: very good, I recommend this - Railway Chicken Curry: mid (maybe take the chicken Amritsari instead) - Daal Bungalow: very good - Garlic Naan: 10 / 10 - Five Cheese Kulcha: cheese naan was heavy and not bad (wouldn’t get again tho, I’m fan of garlic naan) - Celebration Dessert: banana pudding flavor was tasty - Steamed Basmati: basic - Rose Kulfi Falooda: very nice rose flavor and loved the white chocolate pieces (def take this) - Masala Chai: mid

I’m really glad I was able to try Bungalow! I appreciated that the menu was small, as we really wanted to try everything. My main take from eating here is that while the food is delicious, this is really a one time experience. The prices are honestly a bit insane, but the flavors deliver. So it really depends on the type of person and if they’re willing to spend the money. Everything was delicious, no doubt. Authentic flavors from all over India. Standouts were the lamb chop, roasted pineapple, and the daal. The mango lassi was also amazing. Overall, I recommend Bungalow to anyone to try once.

Bungalow NY is truly a world-class dining experience! We enjoyed incredible cocktails, beautifully crafted dishes, and warm, attentive service from Chef Vikas Khanna himself and his amazing staff. Every plate felt like a masterpiece, and the hospitality was exceptional from start to finish. To make the evening even more unforgettable, the legendary Madhuri Dixit and her family were dining right next to us — such a surreal and magical moment! ✨ The ambiance, flavors, and personalized service make Bungalow NY a must-visit. Bungalow by Vikas Khanna is truly one of those rare dining experiences where every detail feels intentional and heartfelt. From the moment we walked in, the hospitality stood out. Our coats were taken and hung without asking, water was served promptly, and the table was constantly cleared and reset with quiet efficiency. The service was fast yet never rushed, polite, attentive, and genuinely warm. We were welcomed with a dal shorba amuse bouche, comforting and deeply flavorful. The cocktails were outstanding Paan Sour, Holy Moly, and Lucky Cheng each one thoughtfully crafted and beautifully expressive of Indian spices and aromas. Creative, balanced, and memorable. Banarasi puri with semolina puffs, beet raita, and pineapple green papaya ribbons was a burst of textures and flavors. Cauliflower 101 paired with chipotle aioli, radish, and chili oil was a refined yet nostalgic take on classic cauliflower 65. Achari stuffed paneer with passion fruit chili chutney and jackfruit pickle was familiar but elevated. The standout was the yogurt kebab, kataifi coated, perfectly crisp, served with purple cabbage, ginger sauce, and a spicy mango coulis. Easily one of the best versions I have had. Old Delhi chole was exceptional. Earthy, robust, and deeply reminiscent of Indian street food, with subtle notes of gooseberry, garlic, and onion. Five cheese kulche with cilantro chutney and zaatar spice mix were fluffy, soft, and indulgent. Farmer’s sattu roti was simple, honest, and satisfying. The dessert we tried included the Mango three ways with mango ice cream, kulfi, aamras, raspberry coulis, and candied fruits was playful and thoughtfully presented. We were also treated to a coffee chocolate caramelized banana mousse on the house for our birthday, a generous and touching gesture. What truly elevated the evening was when Chef Vikas Khanna himself came out to speak with us. Having seen him during my college days, it was heartwarming to find him just as humble, warm, and grounded. We had a lovely conversation before leaving, which made the experience feel complete. An evening defined by exceptional food, impeccable service, and genuine hospitality. Easily one of the best dining experiences I have had.

We recently visited Bungalow to celebrate our anniversary, and overall it was a lovely experience. The ambiance is beautiful and perfect for a special occasion. We really enjoyed the vibe of the place—it feels elegant but still warm and welcoming. For drinks, we tried the Guava Lemonade and a Falsa mocktail (I don’t remember the exact name), and both were refreshing and delicious. For appetizers, we ordered the Dahi Kebab and Achari Stuffed Panner. Dahi Kebab was absolutely amazing—definitely one of our favorite dishes of the evening. For the main course, we had the Okra dish and Old Delhi Chole. We really liked the okra—it was flavorful and well prepared. However, the chole was just okay and didn’t stand out as much as we expected. For dessert, we tried the Rose Kulfi. If you are a big fan of rose flavor, you’ll probably enjoy it. For us, it was good for a one-time try. One small detail that made the experience special was the little candy in a red packet at the end. It instantly reminded me of my childhood, which was such a sweet nostalgic touch. Overall, it’s good to visit Bungalow at least once for the experience.

Bungalow is an experience. The moment you enter, the decor mesmerizes you. Sweet treats are kept for you to gorge on while you wait to be seated. You can grab a cocktail from the bar while you wait. The paan flavored old fashioned was the highlight drink of the night. To start with, the dahi kebabis a must!! That's the best food on the menu. All the other stuff we ordered were also very good but didn't stand out from a slightly lesser priced Indian restaurant. The service is amazing, the atmosphere amazing and overall an excellent experience. We didn'teet Vikas Khanna as he was out for a food show filming and hence missed the best part of the Bungalow experience.

Let me start by giving you important details: 1) Food - Overall 8/10 2) Ambience - 8/10 for us. If you like quiet tables where you can chat, this isn't the place. The restaurant is full for dinner (when we went), and tables fill up quickly. 3) Service - 10/10. Truly a "Atithi devo bhava" vibe. They are vigilant and very good in terms of service. Vegetarian food - I liked the pineapple curry and dahi ke kebabs the most. We ordered the okra dish and the sweet potato chaat too, but I did not feel "omg this is different". On the other hand, the pineapple dish was fantastic! The mixture of spice, sweetness, and coconutty flavors was worth it. The dahi ke kebabs are famous! If you've seen Chef's Instagram videos, this is his personal favorite on the menu, and for good reason. The yogurt is very well balanced with the dip. We did not try the lamb as we don't eat mutton, but the chicken and prawns were good. The dal was good too, but in my opinion, not the star dish of the night. You can take a look at the photos for the dishes, but I would say definitely say it's worth a visit.

Here’s an unbiased review from someone who admires and respects Vikas Khanna as a chef. Atmosphere, the vibes, the service, hospitality is unmatched from the moment you walk in. Absolutely amazing and kind service people at Bungalow including the humble chef. We celebrated the birthday and it was an amazing experience to enjoy a meal at this place. We ordered Banarasi puri, yogurt kebab, achari paneer, paan sour, kali peeli taxi, paneer lazeez, roti, mint laccha paratha, chocolate lava cake dessert with chef’s complimentary dessert for the birthday person. Yogurt kebab was absolutely delicious and worth it. Puri was 8.2/10 because the lack of water and too dry for my taste, great taste though. Achari paneer was okay, cooked well but sauce wasn’t my favourite. Just know all the sauces and gravy on all plates are well done and great infusion of spices and modern twist to it. Paneer lazeez was great, would love more gravy than paneer to balance out the curry aspect of it. No complaints with breads, it’s awesome. Dessert was wonderful and would order it again as the sweetness and cake balance is perfect and not overpowering with chocolate or gulab Jamun flavour. Overall please go with open mind and take it all in. It’s an absolute treat to sit there and enjoy their service and dishes. Would recommend this place, 9.2/10.

Overall I think the average of 4.3 is accurate for this restaurant. I feel like the food was good, but the chef could have been more bold. For my wife and I, nothing was "amazing". We think Vikas Khanna can be more creative. With that said the meal was delicious for sure. We ordered the Chicken and the Pori for apps and the Pulled Lamb and Eggplant for the entree. The eggplant was probably our favorite dish in terms of flavor. The lamb tasted more flavorful with some achar added in! Service was great overall, just a little hectic in the lobby before we sat down. I appreciated that they hung our coats up for us. Not sure I would rush to come back, but an overall good experience in NYC!

Bungalow was honestly a really nice experience. We did not get to meet Vikas, but the food was still the main reason we enjoyed it. It felt different from the usual, in a good way. The flavors were new to us, the fusion worked, and everything we tried tasted really good. What stood out just as much as the food was the whole vibe. The atmosphere is upbeat and the place feels special without trying too hard. The service was also great. Everyone was friendly, checked on us at the right times, and made the night feel smooth and easy. The only thing I wish was better is the vegetarian options. There were some, but not as many as we expected, so it felt a little limited. Overall, I would still recommend it. It is a great spot if you want something fun, different, and a full experience, not just a meal.

We visited Bungalow for our anniversary and had a lovely experience overall. The ambiance is great and sets a nice mood for a special occasion. We started with the Cauliflower 101, Banarasi Puri, and the Yogurt Kebab; the appetizers were all good, and the yogurt kebab in particular was a unique and interesting twist compared to your typical starter. For our main course, we had the Bhindi and Paneer along with garlic and butter naan. The Bhindi was very flavorful and prepared in a way that felt different and fresh. However, we were a bit disappointed with the Paneer. It wasn’t soft and felt fairly ordinary—we had high expectations given how much we love the paneer at Junoon, but this didn't quite hit the mark. That said, the service was thoughtful, and they even brought out a complimentary dessert for our anniversary, which was a very nice touch

Mid. bland and watered down, like most over hyped places. The mango lassi was pretty good, very fresh with some extra spice. The lamb was tough and meh. The paratha was dry and hard to chew. The Banarasi puri was bland, underwhelming. The yogurt kebab was again, bland. The tiny appetizer pumpkin soup actually had some flavor, best part of the meal lol. The pineapple was good, not great, especially given all the hype for a $25 single slice of pineapple. Atmosphere is nice. The service was questionable. stop trying to take my food while I'm still eating lol. Not worth the hype at all. definitely overpriced. Go for the atmosphere, go if you want a chance to see the "celebrity" chef, but don't go for the food.

Reservations at Bungalow are extremely hard to get, so definitely plan well in advance. The decor is absolutely stunning and the ambiance is beautiful. We were welcomed with a complimentary pumpkin soup shot, which was delicious and a lovely start to the meal. The presentation of every dish was impeccable, and at first glance, the service seemed polished. Now for the food: The dahi kebab was phenomenal — truly the best I’ve ever had (and this is coming from a Delhi girl). The stuffed okra was incredible as well, especially impressive coming from someone who isn’t a fan of masala bhindi. Dal Bungalow was outstanding — hands down the best dal I’ve had outside of Delhi. I could have cried it was that good. The chole were brilliant too. The breads — five cheese kulcha, sattu roti, and mint laccha parantha — were all excellent. The chutneys accompanying the dishes were also very well done. However, the achari stuffed paneer was disappointing — dry and tasted like it wasn’t fresh or house-made. I’ve also heard from friends that the chaat and paneer lazeez were underwhelming, so I do think ordering wisely here makes a big difference. If we hadn’t chosen the dishes we did, the experience might have been very different. Drinks are on the pricier side. The Chai Pani was amazing. The phalse mocktail was delicious if you enjoy that Indian blueberry flavor. However, the clarified mango lassi was honestly terrible. For dessert, the mango three-way had lovely ice cream and the aam ras was to die for, though overall it wasn’t extraordinary. The rose kulfi falooda was fine, but not memorable. We mentioned it was our anniversary and received a complimentary mousse, which ended up being the best dessert of the night. Now, unfortunately, the real issue: From the beginning, we felt a difference in how we were treated compared to the non-Indian looking tables around us. The server introduced himself and checked for allergies at the tables beside us, but not ours. Small things, but noticeable. What truly upset me was that about an hour and a half into our meal — while we were still actively eating — someone from reservations came up to our table and told us we needed to hurry because they had another reservation. They did not say this to the two neighboring tables (same two-person setup). It was embarrassing and frankly rude. I don’t usually write negative reviews, but this behavior was disrespectful and disappointing. For a restaurant of this caliber, hospitality should be consistent and inclusive. It’s was fine dining restaurant, not a limited all you can buffet. Despite some standout dishes, I won’t be returning and unfortunately cannot recommend it.

Not a hater but I had really high expectations for Bungalow and safe to say that they fell hard. Amazing ambience and outstanding service. but when it comes to food, I loved the spice pineapple, which easily is a signature dish and it was tender, sweet, spicy. Lamb tellicherry fry was quite authentic as well. We were disappointed with the rest of the overpriced, small portions of dishes that could be found at any random restaurant in any Indian city. We also found a strand of hair in the kebab but they replaced the dish, that was kind of them.

Apps were better than the mains. Yogurt kebab and anarkali chicken were really good. Lamb curry and shrimp curry were good but not amazing. We also got the mango three ways for dessert which was everyone’s favorite dish. I tried the chai pani cocktail which is clarified rum with parle-g flavors. Thought it was ok. Vikas khanna came to our table which was a starstruck moment. Really cool seeing him greeting tables and being so interactive. The inside is so pretty and service was great.
