Don’t know why this place has worse rating than similar in the area. I’ve been here a couple of times for brunch and dinner, and always was satisfied. Food was good, not Michelin star good, but enjoyable. The waitresses friendly, and even my toddler finished her plates!
Excellent place. Hospitality was fantastic, and it was during the Super Bowl! Would highly recommend to anyone.
Very nice - went a little late, but it was a comfortable ambience. Bartender was really nice; drinks were good too. Will definitely be going back!
Loved the drinks and environment. Waitress was new, slow and we had to tell her how to make our drinks. But won't knock a rating on people trying.
This is a very beautiful Restaurant and Bar. One for the never play the music at deafening levels. There is a beautiful bartender with green eyes who is adorable and magnificent. Try to go between 4:30 p.m. and 8 pm. I recommend this place very highly
Great staff, Great food, what more do you need
Great place! Staff was friendly, helpful, an on top of things. Food was Delicious! Clean, comfortable, fun atmosphere. We LOVED it
this is my go to happy hour spot, they have great happy hour between 12 pm-8 pm, amazing food and a wonderful atmosphere. Whenever I go out with friends this is the first place I bring them.
Delicious fairly priced food with a great atmosphere. ($77 for 2 drinks, 2 entrees and 2 desserts). Well decorated, chic environment with a laid back sports bar vibe. Staff was funny friendly and efficient. We went for dinner last night and will likely return today for a football game.
We love it and never become disappointed every time we come. Lovely, cozy ambiance, never too packed but still lively, delicious food, very reasonable prices, full attention to dietary issues, and extremely kind service. Cheers to The District and especially to lovely Sandra from Colombia, always with a broad smile and the perfect attitude! 👏👏
Super friendly staff. Bartender sent around free whiskey shots for everyone in the bar. Shepherd's pie was amazing and the other food looked delicious as well. Pretty fair prices, considering we're in UES Manhattan.
Great pub run by an Irish couple who are great craic and really bring the atmosphere to this part of town. There's a number of screens playing sport, good music and really great staff. Whilst we were there a group of Irish lads started singing and the whole pub ended up having a singalong - it was incredible!
After having one of their signature cocktails, we had pineapple juice, freshly squeezed and completely refreshing. The food was very homey and delicious. I had a chicken ceasar salad and it was a generous portion, very filling. We also ordered fried calamari to go with the drinks and I really loved their sauce. We stayed outside as we had a dog but had no problem with the atmosphere and the server was an extremely friendly and intelligent guy. Fully recommend. I actually remember this place having an Indian restaurant before which used to be a staple in the neighborhood and I believe this place is not diminishing the standard.
I was a little concerned about dining at this pub after reading some of the reviews that spoke negatively about the food and how some customers were treated, but my visit yesterday was a total delight. I had the lasagna and it was delicious. The birthday girl had the stuffed chicken and found it yummy. Another friend had the fish and chips and really enjoyed it. Another had the crab cakes and said they were very good. I don't recall what the three other people in our party had to eat, but everyone said they really enjoyed their meal. (And, by the way, the food was reasonably priced) Our waiter -- Reza was absolutely terrific! He offered excellent suggestions, was solicitous and patient, took our picture, and chose two scrumptious desserts that he carried in as he led us in singing Happy Birthday. The decor is quite attractive and well-suited to the fare offered. There are multiple TV screens to watch sports and the noise level is what one would expect at a well-populated venue such as this one. We had the birthday girl's Mom, who is well into her 90s and in a wheelchair, sitting at the head of the table and every effort was made by Reza and the rest of the staff to make sure she was comfortable, not only with the seating arrangements, but with the consistency of her food. We were all treated with courtesy, respect, kindness, and genuine friendliness. So, I would have to say that whatever deficits might have existed in the past, as per the reviews of other patrons, clearly have been addressed and most successfully remedied. Extra kuddos to The District for that and do keep up the fine work. I look forward to another visit!
Excellent food; they say homemade and they mean it. Best spinach and artichoke dip ever. Prices reflect the quality. Great friendly service. Cool looking bar, with good people.
We loved this place, good fresh food, fine ambiance.
I had the cobb salad and the apple pie. It was fresh and delicious. Im still thinking about this meal! Our server was great and very friendly as well.
Came here for an extension of Sunday fun-day, and was impressed. Service was very friendly, fast, and accurate. Beer selection is decent, and the cocktails looked good too. Had a burger for dinner which was perfectly cooked, juicy, and plump. The fries were a little on the greasy side for my taste, but still tasty. Prices are very reasonable.
This place is great. Really cool vibe and the place was designed 1st class with elements of brick and marble and what looks like a church theme with staind glass. But more importantly is the great drinks, great prices and the cool bartender, I think his name was Marcus. We enjoyed chatting with him about good music and guitar players. We will be back in a few months and will definitely be visiting the District.
Food was so nice and fresh. Warm and welcoming, especially Carla and Klara- they were amazing !
This it's a great sports bar for an after work drink with your colleagues! Small but roomy, a good selection of craft beers and nice dining menu to go with it. My only gripe was that the music was a bit too loud, but I say that about all bars. If go there to watch a game anytime with my friends.
A neighborhood spot, that has it all! Food is amazing, drinks are great and atmosphere is inviting. I will be back!
Fun staff who are really kind and engaging. Spinach and artichoke dip was runnier than expected but still really good. Burger was well cooked, and my friend enjoyed her steak sandwich. Huge portions on both. Good time!
Pug Uglies is a somewhat upscale neighborhood pub with good atmosphere and friendly staff. Bears, wines and whiskeys are good.
The District is one of New York's best (semi) upscale sports bars, offering a lively environment for catching a game and a good meal that's neither overwhelming nor too informal. In fact, the food is exceptional for its league—the burgers, at least. And that includes the veggie burger, which is house-made with rice and beans you can see. The service is fantastic, too. Pair it all with the reasonable prices, and The District offers a fantastic value that I highly recommend!
Great time food hit the spot problem was staff …. Maria Raza and Karla made me stay for 2 drinks longer than I should have ! Will be back !
Had a great day at the district and the staff we extremely friendly and food and drinks were top tier also.
Great atmosphere, delicious food, affordable prices. We very much enjoyed it and went twice during our stay in the UES. Highly recommend!
The District was cozy and festive with a warm and friendly atmosphere. Our server was friendly and helpful, with the best smile in NYC! I recommend this nook highly!
Place is always great - we visit it every time we come down to the city to visit our friend Rob. The staff and food are awesome. The bartenders are all great - special shout out to Carla.
The District, located on the UES of Manhattan on 3rd Avenue, is such a great spot!! :-) I visited for the first time this weekend and I had the best experience!! Dara, Nick & the team at The District are so wonderful - my friends & I were so well taken care of during our visit!! In terms of food cocktails, they make an excellent spicy margarita, and their appetizers are delicious. I highly recommend their Homemade Mozzarella Sticks! Lastly, The District has such a lovely atmosphere - it's so warm + cozy inside. 10/10 - I highly recommend this place!!
Very warm staff (even more so the manager Razz, not sure if I spelled it correctly), pleasant and fast service, and amazing food -- we started with guac-and-chips, then the pan-seared salmon and steak with salad, and cheesecake and tiramisu after -- which came in generous servings, too. The indoor dining area is well-laid out and perfectly lit (and dimmed just right in the late hours), the outdoor booths as well, and the bar is just as welcoming. Can't wait to visit again!
I have been to this place before but never reviewed it, it’s one of the rare cases where a restaurant gets better on your second visit. The place is as well located and nicely decorated as before but now the service has improved markedly (even though everything from hosting to taking orders seem to be made only by one gentleman with black hair who always have a smile) and the food now really is memorable, which wasn’t the case on my last visit. By all means try the salmon. I returned three days later and the host/waiter not only remembered me but also was as attentive as the previous time, this time I had the NY steak that while not being medium cooked as I ordered was perfectly seasoned. After that I stayed at the bar and the bartender was efficient and friendly.
The complimentary mimosas for brunch were yummy. Ordered the steak & eggs. All was good except the steak which had too much gristle throughout. All in all, I would definitely go back. Plenty of room for a group.
District is a very nice restaurant with a very long and popular bar. No seat emptied for more than a few minutes. Food is very good and salmon was most ordered at our table with all very happy.
I am writing an addendum to below review, after some reflection What happened below had nothing to do with the restaurant or the team that worked there. The food is actually really good ( I ate the left overs a few days later). And it is a cool , local neighborhood bar type of place I will go back because I saw the people working hard there and the food was above average and perfect pub / bar food Scary and strange experience at this restaurant Good food...mediocre service... waitress distracted and spent most time sitting on a stool smelling her hair (really) But mid way through our dinner, three guys walk in that, I guess I could say, didn’t look like regular clientele We’re eating our dinner , then we notice the three guys have surrounded our table and the tallest, biggest one starts asking for cash. My friend gives them a few bucks tho I’m saying “no” and I’m worried about escalation or them grabbing her purse Manager and waiter come over and gradually get the guys to leave They take the cash and leave and management apologized and gave us free drink But it was very uncomfortable AND scary I doubt I’ll go back - be careful in that neck of the woods
Great comfortable yuppie bar to spend a snowy afternoon with friends. Attentive bartenders and no stray gum to speak of. The burgers are a quality and tasty chunk of meat I must admit. Good ambiance and not too loud to have a conversation.
We had the chicken pesto sandwich and lamb burger. Very much enjoyed. Beer list is extensive. Entree values are great. Good for a casual date night or to watch the game. will be returning!
This bar/restaurant is on the NE corner of 94th st and 3rd ave and has ample outdoor seating on 3rd ave and 94th st. I only went inside to use the bathroom. The interior has a sports bar vibe. The menu has a lot of standard bar menu items and the happy hour offerings are generous. The service was very slow at the beginning, especially considering that when we first arrived, it was mostly empty. After waiting for about 10 minutes, I had to go in and inform them we were there and it still took some time before a waiter came to us. My carnitas tacos were awesome and the others in the group really enjoyed their food too.
Went with a friend for a mid-afternoon late lunch. Ordered an omelette with broccoli, spinach, and cheese and was surprised to find bacon in it. I didn't say anything but wondered why that happened. My friend had the Chicken Caesar Salad and seemed to enjoy that.
Nice place. Really nice staff. My friend said the food was good here. I can't speak to the rest of the food since we only had the hummus platter which I'd pass on, but the drinks and ambiance was great.
The District, located at 1679 3rd Ave in the heart of Yorkville, offers a lively and enjoyable experience with just a few areas that could use some improvement. Atmosphere & Ambiance: One of the standout features of The District is its vibrant and energetic atmosphere. It’s a fantastic place to unwind, meet up with friends, and enjoy a night out. The decor is modern yet cozy, making it a versatile spot for both casual drinks and more festive gatherings Food & Drinks: The menu at The District is well-crafted, with several crowd-pleasers that keep patrons coming back. The chicken pesto sandwich and the variety of bar snacks are consistently praised, and the drink selection is broad enough to satisfy most tastes. Whether you’re in the mood for a craft beer, a cocktail, or just a good old-fashioned glass of wine, The District has you covered Service: While the staff is generally friendly and welcoming, service can sometimes be a bit slow, particularly during peak hours. This minor hiccup doesn’t overshadow the overall experience, but it’s something to keep in mind if you’re in a hurry or prefer prompt attention Overall Experience: The District earns its four stars for being a reliable, fun spot in Yorkville with great food, drinks, and atmosphere. While there’s room for improvement in terms of service speed during busy times, it remains a solid choice for a night out in the city. If you’re looking for a lively environment with good eats, The District is definitely worth a visit.
I've been here so many times. It's near my job. Nice spot for a drink after work. Serves solid bar food. The bartenders are awesome. Lauren is the best. We usually get the district wings with all their sauces on the side. If we want some thing heavier, any of the burgers and sandwiches are good. I love their sweet potato fries served with a garlic aioli. The hummus and pita and the bang bang shrimp are good too. Just a fun, chill spot with decent food and service.
Quick service, friendly staff, and good food. Unfortunately, I can't speak to all the food, I just got wings and fries. The wings themselves were good but they are not tossed in your choice of sauce. They are served plain and the sauce you choose comes on the side. With that being said, the sauce also tasted store bought and wasn't anything special. But the fries I ordered were delicious and my girlfriend also ordered mac and cheese which she said was delicious. Overall, I think this place is really good but it's not the best place to go if you're just looking for wings. They would make for a fine appetizer before another meal though. I plan to return and try their other items.
Ate there for the 1st time this afternoon. Nice atmosphere (a little loud) but not crowded. Choose a table and was surprised NO sort of menu brought to table. Waitress asked if we were interested in drinks but NOT food. It was 1:41 p.m. and I thought there may be a brunch menu? I was told the brunch menu was over? Had to Google Menu since NONE was given. Rather then ask if we would like to see A Menu, we simply ordered from the Google listing. The food was very tasty and the service good. Just cannot digest that NO menu or suggestions voiced. The bar was rather full but tables were empty by 2:30. I would return due to food quality but believe more attention needed towards food factor.
I’m a regular here and I would totally recommend it! There are some really great options I’ve tried here: the District burger, wings, fries, caesar salad, tacos dorados (all excellent!). However there are some not so great options. The mac and cheese, for example, I would not recommend. It’s very bland. The pappardelle was good besides the fact that my order was in a literal pool of oil. In general, it’s a very good restaurant!
Please bring back the other steak sandwich! The new bbq one is just really really bad. The soaked sauce, mushrooms, stale ciabatta bread, etc. It’s just a bad tasting sandwich. That’s why I have to give the food a 3. Why fix something that wasn’t broken? Offer both? You have a pulled pork sandwich already. Please? Otherwise, this place is really good for food and drink.
Once walking in to the district, it's a very good atmosphere. I did notice that I might have been there on a day where the AC may have not been working so it was extremely hot. The servers seemed a bit overwhelmed by the crowd that day but my experience wasn't horrid. I enjoyed the wine and food and the feel of the space was really nice.
Stopped by for dinner and had a pleasant time! We were seated very quickly and just made it just in time for happy hour. The inside has a cozy vibe but it doesn’t feel all all cramped. We tried the frozen drinks and ended up getting their Mac and cheese to share, as well as the chicken parm sandwich and veggie burger. Food wasn’t anything crazy but was totally fine. Only wishing the Mac and cheese had a little more oomph (maybe more breadcrumbs)? Nice spot to stop by if you live near by and are looking for American bar type food. Pros: -Seated quickly on a weekday night and pretty fast service -Friendly staff -Indoor and outdoor seating available -Tables spaced out well and have dividers between them Cons: -Nothing comes to mind
Enjoyed it. I had fish and chips, they were almost as good as what I used to have in England. Not to greasy. I also had the Coney Island Pilzner, it was ok. My wife had a cheeseburger and really liked it. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is the seating was cramped and uncomfortable and the server kept forgetting things, like my beer and bringing us our check.
Decor and ambiance is nice. Food is forgettable. The veggie burger is like a soft pile of oatmeal shaped into a flavorless patty. The beef ribs are tough and chewy. Mussels are decent.
Probably a lot of fun if you're a local and you know everybody, and you really just want drinks at a bar. I would skip if you want an actual restaurant. The night we were there, there was some confusion about who was actually our waiter and we waited a while for menus and to order. The food we ordered was okay, bar food fare. Fries were good, burger was overpriced for what you get (dry bun). The chowder was good, but it was overloaded with bacon, and didn't really taste like clam chowder (they should just call it bacon potato soup). Would probably not return next time I'm in the area.
I really like the ambiance of The District. It is beautiful inside. In the past I really enjoyed coming here on Sundays to watch football. It is always easy to find a seat at the bar. I probably will not come back though. The bartender seems annoyed when you ask to put a football game on. It seems to be the last thing he wants to do. The food in my opinion is just OK. I really enjoyed this bar because in the past it was easy to request a game, the bar is beautiful and the staff was always friendly. I would just ask that the bartender is a little bit more accommodating and friendly on football Sundays when a paying customer requests a game.
Decent food and drinks, though the cocktail list is way too overpriced for the amount of booze served, I switched to mixed drinks after my first skimpy pour. The food and drink menu on their website did not match the menus handed to us. Okay place for a date.
Service and decor was great. The food not so much. Not a bad place to just grab a drink before dinner. The mussels were great but having to pick out cracked shells from your plate is not attractive the chicken parmigiano came a bit cold although the place wasn't at full capacity (wasn't busy) and the tomato sauce was way too sweet for me but that's subjective.. I feel its more of a burger and wing kind of place more like bar food.
Steak was good but cold, salad had a great taste. They don't bother to ask you if everything is ok, I had to ask waiter to heat up the steak because it was cold. A bit pricey for a small portion. Also they are bringing me the check for me to pay when I'm still eating....I think they could have waited a bit longer.
--Just kind of average -- Went on a holiday weekend and they were a bit slower, also earlier in the night. Easy enough to get a table and the staff were friendly. Beer menu was fine but nothing to write home about. A few different styles and breweries that I enjoy, but I would by no means call it adventurous or extensive or anything of the like. Food was fine, not great. I had higher expectations seeing 4.0 avg on google. We tried the usuals and it was generally fine, but again, just nothing interesting or that we haven't had better elsewhere. Not bad, just I don't see any reason to go back. Roll the dice and try somewhere new, or go back to other places we've liked better.
Brought friends from out of town here based on past experiences. We’ve eaten here multiple times and typically the service is good and the food is great. That was not the experience today. 4 out of the 4 entrees were wrong including the Cuban and a side salad (pic below) that took literally 45 minutes to get to the table. Very disappointing experience.
Good beer and happy hour (drinks). Good salads and burgers and tacos. Cobb salad is good. But nachos queso fundido is just nachos, beware, not a queso fundido that you’d have at a Mexican restaurant. The tres leches cake for dessert is mostly frosting and two thin layers of barely milky cake, a miss. Thanksgiving pre-fix is awesome!
Just went there because its close to my apartment. The overall experience was just ok. Median. The appetizers were awful, including a tasteless and overcooked Summer Risotto and a table of cheese. As a main course, the burger also was deceptive. Bland meat, ordinary bread. If there was something good thats my wife's curry shrimp with quinoa. The beer assortment is ridiculously scarce. No local beers nor any relevant choice. Service is just ok. I won't come back there.
Went back after a year, the corn beef hash is now much lower quality, there were a few pieces of soggy potatoes mixed in , we constantly had to call waiters over for service. Unfortunate experience given such a good looking restaurant.
Our order was slow coming out, and both of our meals were wrong. Medium rare burger came out well done, wrong cheese, and wrong toppings. Wife's chicken was also bland and looked like it sat under the lights too long. Very disappointed, the ambiance is cool and has so much potential. We were so hungry we just ate what they gave us, but the server never asked how the food was or if it came out okay. Needs improvement.
My first experience (also with my mother) at The District was awesome BUT THAT WAS YEARS AGO. I went yesterday with my mother, who now is 73 years old, is recuperating from knee replacement surgery & I wanted her to be out of the house - it was a worthless event. We walked in, the seating was empty, except for one 3 person table in the far back, the bar had approximately 6 male patrons plus female bartender. We enter, no one addresses us. We go to window to get menu, then wait about a minute. The bartender sees us but does not address us. I have to walk over to bar and ask her if we should seat ourselves or if someone is coming. She said something about someone being out, they would return but we could sit wherever. We sat literally, 2 feet from bar, window 2 seater. We sat there for 10 minutes - no one came over. I kept turning around to the bar to see if she would move but nothing., I had to walk over to her and ask for menus. the bar now has 3 more men arrive. This bartender is paying attention ONLY to the bar. Another 10 minutes go by - I AGAIN have to go over to the bar to tell her I'd like to place an order. She comes over, takes order (which included water) then leaves. She FORGETS about us. Our food arrives (I ordered 3 items plus water) by the time I was halfway of my 2nd item I STILL had no water. I AGAIN had to walk to the END of the bar to ask for water. She continued her conversation with the bar patron then held onto my glass while still talking to him - I had to reach out my hand to ask for the water. I finish my meal, the men behind me can hear me get a bit upset about the service but yet again she is at the end of the bar chatting away. AGAIN I had to walk over to the bar to ask for my receipt and at that moment she was sweet as pie. This is HORRIBLE service. The few times (years past) I was there everything was great but I think the bartender is not trained properly. As a customer/patron and you NOT having a server/waiter the bartender should be handling the service. The other table at the end of the restaurant finally leave but I also noticed (they were 3 women) they barely received any service from the bartender. 2 TABLES IS NOT A TASK OR DIFFICULT. Ladies, I understand your beauty or attractiveness is what helps with your tips but NEVER discount other women. I am a great tipper and I would have left more but your attitude or lack thereof of charisma for ALL your patrons turned me the wrong way. I still left almost triple the tip amount necessary but that was only out of hoping the RUNNER would get the money as he was the one doing work. But I will never go back - not that one patron makes a difference but based on others comments THIS behavior seems to be normal. Sad
We had originally ordered calamari and wings at the District. My wife was feeling Ill so we had order made to go. When we sat down at home to eat, we found the food had no taste. There was absolutely no seasoning. I actually had to season the wings and reheat them for any kind of flavor. District looks nice, but fool me once…
Steak salad is great. Fish and chips is damn good. They should add some new items to the menu. Lauren the bar tender is lovely. Always good service.
I ordered takeout from District tonight only because Barking Dog showed as closed online. I went in to get my food and picked up my small lb dog, thinking I would grab my food and walk out. The host was not at the host stand by the door so I approached the bar to ask about my order. The bartender who was busy at the end of the bar chatting, rudely started chatting loudly enough for me to hear about my dog and I. When he decided to take a break from said chat to come over to me, I told him that I was there to pick up a to go order. He said ok and told me to go wait by the door with a dismissive hand gesture. Despite living across the street, I will not be coming back to patronize this venue. There are many quality bars/restaurants in the area with workers with common sense and decency to treat customers with respect and put two and two together that I was only there to pick up my food and go. There was no need for the condescension.
Food was standard bar quality food. Nothing super great/impressive. Drinks were just okay too. Would come here only if you’re going to drink beer. Not cocktails or if you’re into good wine. Wouldn’t be in a rush to return.
Food was bland. Fish in the fish and chips had no flavor. Sauce that came with mozzarella sticks tasted like cheap canned sauce and the mozzarella sticks had no seasoning. Steak salad was average but had grizzle. Chicken wings were cooked well but I prefer them tossed in buffalo sauce instead of hot sauce in the side. Soda was watered down. Very nice atmosphere though
The only great thing about this place is the ceiling. Server took our drink orders, we said we wanted food but just needed a minute. 30 minutes later we have finished our drinks and server seems to have forgotten about us and never came to take our food order so we flagged him down and asked for the check and went to eat somewhere nearby. Also the server and the bartender were both leaning into their vapes on the floor and behind the bar. Super casual vibe in the sense that the employees are unconcerned with good service. The cocktails were also weird and not good.
I came here because someone recommended their fish and chips to me. They also said they have great drinks. I ordered a juniper breeze to start with. The drink was okay. Nothing bad about, but nothing great about it, either. I also ordered a French onion soup. I knew I shouldn’t have, but I was famished. The soup was not hot enough. The cheese on the top did melt, but the soup was just warm. It was nice that it came with 3 slices of baguette, however, they were dry and tasted like ages old freezer. Even dipped in the onion soup couldn’t cover the disgusting taste. And lastly, of course I ordered the fish and chips. The fish was jiggly even when it was battered and deep fried. It was soggy. One piece was lukewarm in the middle. And the other pieces were fishy, but cooked through. It was bad. The fries were nice though. I wish they put as much thought in the decoration as they could into the food they were serving. Very disappointed. Service was okay though.
Good food. Waitress leaves much to be desired. She completely worked off her tip. Next time pay attention to your customers. Especially when there's only 3 tables with people actually eating.
There has been a large gathering of individuals outside of the bar / restaurant for the last several days. These individuals are drinking in public, not staying 6 feet away from one another, are not wearing masks, and block the sidewalk and crosswalk. This results in very unsafe conditions for both the restaurant's patrons and individuals walking on the street. The restaurant staff made no effort to disperse their customers, instead they were actively engaging with them socially.
Regular customer and asked to have the music lowered since it was extremely loud and no one was listening to the music since a few of us that were at the bar (maybe 6 people) and the bar tender was arrogant a d told us he couldn't turn the music down since other customers liked the music. No one was listening to the music. We were all watching the U.S. Tennis Open. Very disappointed o. A Sunday evening, on a holiday weekend to be treated si poorly by the bartender in local bar.
Ate here on Sunday night with my husband. He ordered the chicken pesto sandwich, a few hours later he had the most violent food poisoning for two days. I called the restaurant two days in a row, twice per day, asking to speak to the manager to explain what happened and ask for a refund. Each time I was told to leave a message or he wasn’t in. You’d think for a place charging $15 for watered down drinks would know how to cook chicken.
Don’t bother here with a reservation to watch a big game. I made a reservation to watch the World Cup final here more than a week out, but when I showed up, they told my my reservation was mysteriously never written down, and they turned me away along with several other families in the same situation. Pretty clear there was never any intention to honor a reservation
Tonight, I was refused service because late last summer The bartender told me it was illegal for him to serve me a ‘to go’ . I suggested that he check with legal authorities to get the correct rules. He did name calling when I suggested that he may not be on top of the latest rules. This resulted in the manager asking me to leave. Tonight (literally 4 months later) this manager approached me and said he would not serve me because of that summer incident. I said I have been a customer for over six years, I was just served in the bar three days before. I suggested that it may be useful for him to hear from me what provoked that summer incident. He says he did not care and he would not serve me. I suggested that it might be valuable for him to learn what provoked such incidents to help him be a better manager. He ignored and said he was an owner and his name was Jerry. This is very unimpressive and I would like to file a customer abusive complaint.
Just... not good. The beer was just barely colder then room temp. The burger was... idk. Mediocre at best. It smelled like fish. The waitress however was very on it. Very fast. But the food and place is literally one star.
We've ordered from The District before, but tonight will be the last time ever. An hour and a half after placing our order, we have no food. Our calls to ask about it were exercises in frustration: They ran out of burgers? They had difficulty with the order of shrimp on the side (but our order was for two plain old cheeseburgers)? There is no manager at the place. Never again. So unprofessional. Plus, we paid and we have no food. If they answered their phone, I would try to at least get our money back, but it goes straight to voice mail.
Racist owners & staff - DONT GO! I had an incredibly disappointing experience at The District. My friends and I came here, and unfortunately, one of our group members, who happened to be African American, was treated horribly by the staff. It was clear that they were being discriminated against because of their race, and it made all of us incredibly uncomfortable. It's truly shocking to me that in this day and age, there are still business owners who think it's acceptable to treat people this way. This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable, and I will not be returning to this establishment. It's truly disheartening to hear that this is not an isolated incident and that racism seems to be a common theme at this restaurant. I urge others to think twice before supporting a business that condones this kind of behavior. There are plenty of other restaurants and bars in the area that will treat all customers with respect and dignity - there's no need to patronize a place with such hateful beliefs.
Wow, what a terrible experience, service was really bad. Took over an hour to get my food on a Tuesday night… Food was bad service was even worse. They give you an attitude like it’s your fault that they can’t do their jobs . overpriced for what you get, don’t waste your time or money.
The service here was absolutely awful. Our food took forever to come out, when it did it was mediocre tasting. Burger was underwhelming, pesto sandwich was on white bread not Texas toast 🤣.. the best part is they add the tip for you. So even though the service and food was eh at best your tip won’t reflect that. 🫶🏼
Beware of being overcharged. I came here with a friend after a night session at 5 Iron Golf. We each had 2 beers. The total was ~$30. I tipped $6 for a total of $36. A few days later I noticed a credit card charge for $50. I called the bar and spoke to Jared, who apologized and told me he would refund me, even going so far as to say he would refund the cost of one of the beers for the hassle. A week went by, no refund. I called again. Same run around - Jared apologized and said the refund was on the way. This happened for another 2 weeks in a row. Finally I went to the bar and demanded a refund for the overcharge, which was given to me by a host after explaining the situation. Being told that I'd be getting a refund for 3 weeks straight is unacceptable, and I don't think I would have gotten my money back had I not gone in person.
