Loveeee TPB & all the good eats here! My fav is the Filet of Roast Beef accompanied by their refreshing Fifty-Fifty (I.T. & Lemonade). YUM!
Best lunch place! Delicious and healthily food.
I've only tried their "Crunchy Tuna Sandwich", it will not disappoint! It tasted super fresh and the bread is amazing! I suggest ordering for pick up, as the line in there gets long :)
Some of the best sandwiches in nyc! Service is quick and all the employees are so kind and welcoming. Love it here!
The Picnic Basket catered my event and everything was delicious! I especially enjoyed the pastrami on pita bread- it was fresh, tasty, and satisfying :)
The food here is delicious. If you need gluten free, they have lots of options with GF bread and amazing salads. They changed gloves and were extra careful preparing my food, so if you have celiacs or gluten sensitive issues I would recommend eating here. Great choices of hot or cold sandwiches, soups, and salads. This is a great little places for a nice lunch.
Great sandwiches with fresh ingredients. I really enjoy the sauces and bread, especially on the chimi chicken sandwich. I usually order for pickup and the order is usually ready within 15 minutes. It can be a little hectic and busy during peak lunch time in the store, so I definitely recommend pickup or delivery.
Loved All Sabdwitches except the veggie one! To avoid meat, cheese sandwitch is a great option!
The Picnic Basket is a staple in my lunch rotation. It’s not the closest to my office but I still make it there once a week minimum because it’s worth the walk. Very friendly service and I’ve enjoyed every sandwich I’ve tried thus far. My favorites are the Chicken Melt, Chimi Chicken, and Turkey and Herbs sandwiches.
I just discovered this little sandwich shop in the heart of Manhattan, and it's now an obvious choice for my lunch break. Don't miss out their Chicken Melt, I recommend! Plus, service is quite fast!
Great little sandwich shop. Nice selection. I enjoyed the pastrami panini while my wife and kids had a selection of chicken sandwiches with sauces and veggies. Quick and friendly service.
it's amazing idc what anyone says if I would give it 100 I would, I ate one of these sandwiches AND it's the best sandwich I tasted in my INTIRE life, btw the the people who work there are ANGELS, would recommend 100000%😁👍 the people who voted 1 star are just jealous 😒🙄ugh, ANYWAYS pls go there it's amazing👍
Great food and even better service
If you're looking for a different breakfast from your typical bagel or pastry or eggs and bacon this is the place to go to. Flavorful and filling options for breakfast and lunch. Staff and owner are super friendly and helpful. Highly recommend the Mediterranean egg sandwich which keeps me full until lunch or later.
My husband and I were looking for a quick bite to eat before leaving the city to go back home. We almost walked right by this place but I stopped because I thought the name was cute and a couple exiting were mentioning just how delicious their own lunches were. I assumed it would be primarily sandwiches, I also assumed therefore that I wouldn't be able to find anything for myself since I am gluten free. Turns out, they have GF bread options! I had the most delicious ham and swiss sandwich with a unique salsa and mustard that was to die for! It's no small sandwich either! I could only eat half, I ate the other half for dinner! The gentleman who took my order was very sweet. I love that they have online ordering for locals too. It's clear these folks understand how to run a very successful business! Thanks for delicious food AND GF options!
What a great find! Healthy lunch options with a decent amount of options right in the middle of Herald Square chaos. Very good pressed sandwiches (turkey, halloumi, mozarella, etc.). The crunchy tuna wasn't bad...although I think I'm more of a purist. Still need to try the hummus bowls - but I hear they're good. Order online from work and skip the line!
Love this little midtown lunch spot!! Everything I have there I always enjoy. Crunchy tuna sandwich and the Mediterranean turkey sandwich (spicy) are my faves. Great pita chips and homemade lemonade as well. They also offer picnic baskets of lunch and snacks that you can take to the park!
My favorite chicken caesar wrap in the city!! Highly recommend this place
Great lunch spot during the week. The sandwiches and salads are both great. However, they need to work on their order system. It's too chaotic, wait times can get long, and once my salad decided to leak into my bag because it was sealed properly. Bonus, there's a pokestop nearby.
Great fresh sandwiches! The bread is amazing. My favorite is the Corned Beef sandwich but the Prosciutto Paninis are amazing too made with fresh mozzarella :P yummy! It gets packed but they move fast!
Picnic basket is my go to lunch place for a amazing panini! It’s way too good and fresh. I did not get to explore most of the menu over the years because I keep ordering the same pastrami panini each time!
Everything I’ve had here (salads and sandwiches) is so fresh and yummy. Workers are very friendly. My fav lunch spot.
I rarely pass up an opportunity to go to the picnic basket. Thier crunchy tuna sandwich is the best tuna sandwich I have ever had. 100% recommend eating here. It is sometimes packed because it is a small space, but you can order ahead for pick up as well.
I had the chicken pesto panini and it’s was just amazing !!!
Best Chicken Amarillo sandwiches I’ve ever had 🤩
Super nice people and great food. First stop every time I'm in town.
Amazing food! Great staff! I always get their lentil soup it’s sooo fulling! I have been meaning to write a review because I can’t ignore how loved I feel when I come to this lunch shop. The young lady who is usually my cashier did something so sweet by writing a note on paper my bag. I didn’t realize it until I got back to work lol. Thank you for your kind affirmations! Lol I will keep this note forever!!!😭 It’s so good to know I’m getting food from good people with genuine hearts. This is so rare to find in NYC as people don’t care to give service or build bonds with their clientele ❤️❤️❤️ Please keep this up as you continue this business. You have kept a long term costumer this way. ✨
Absolutely the best sandwich shop around! Delicious sandwiches, fresh ingredients and great service!
All the food here is great quality and the prices are fair as well. The team is great and Stephanie the manager is very helpful and always making sure everyone’s taken care of!
My office had The Picnic Basket CATERED to our front door for lunch!! CHEFS KISS. The entire process was so seamless - from placing the order to having it delivered. I am always looking for a place that is efficient and reliable and the picnic basket is just that!! We didn't have a single leftover because everyone went in for seconds or thirds. The food tasted fresh and the portion sizes were perfect. If you're ever thinking about catering to your office, for a party, or any kind of event this is the place!!!
I absolutely loved the Picnic Basket. I stumbled in here while visiting New York and I can't wait to visit again. I had a grilled Halloumi sandwich and the lentil soup they always have. The sandwich was fabulous but I could not stop talking about the soup! The staff was also very friendly and walked me through my order and recommended a special sauce I dipped my chips into. Love Picnic Basket!
Delicious sandwiches! I order here often and am always satisfied from the food to the service 10/10 every time! Highly recommend the chicken melt.. SO GOOD!
Such a great spot to grab lunch! Healthy and yummy. Service is wonderful as well
Delicious sandwiches and amazing service! Always quick and friendly service - everything on the menu is delicious!
Best sandwiches ever ! Fast delivery !
My last meal in NYC this trip might have been my favorite. I loved everything about this experience including the staff. I can’t remember the name of the person who took our order, but she was the best! I was inside for probably 30-minutes and she connected with and made every person in the restaurant feel seen and appreciated. She was as amazing as the food, and the food was on point!
The Picnic Basket has the best catering service! My office loves these fresh tasty sandwiches, we order all the time. Shout out to Stephanie for being so helpful and making it easy :)
Great place! The zucchini Courgette was super fresh ant tasty. I also ordered Halloumi hot pressed sandwich and it was delicious. Perfect place for quick lunch! Update: Second time I had lunch here and it was amazing! I'm impressed with their salad ingredients, everything is very tasty and fresh, and the staff is super friendly too!
We ordered lunch for a corporate off-site from the Picnic Basket (Oct 2020) and everyone raved about the sandwiches - they were really tasty and a good size too. I had the Mediterranean Turkey w. hummus - interesting combo but it was fabulous. They have a lot of good choices for vegans and vegetarians as well. I put an order in a few days before our event and one of their managers called me beforehand to check on a few things, including the time of delivery. They didn't have to do that, but I appreciated that they did. All sandwiches were individually wrapped and labelled with everyone's name which made things easy. I really liked the food and service and would recommend - I'll be back.
Hands down the best sandwich shop in Midtown. May sound like a lofty claim but if you’re reading this review it seems you’re sitting on the fence. Trust your gut and this review and try out one of their hot pressed sandwiches. They will mix and match ingredients to your liking and their staff is amazingly awesome to boot!
Tried the grilled chicken pesto and it was delicious
This is my favorite breakfast/lunch spot in the city! They have nice big portions for a fair price (cheaper than most of the overpriced spots in the city!) without compromising quality. The food is always delicious, their menu has a great variety without being too overwhelming, and don't get me started on the coffee! Best I've had in a long while. The cashier/delivery guy is a hunk too, but that's just a plus ;)
Unique options. Good size portions. Expect to pay $15-20 usd for a sandwich, drink and soup. VERY FAST service. Food was tasty. My wife didn’t think her sandwich was good but she’s very picky. We come from a small town in Texas so anything in NY is very different. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a unique food spot out of their comfort zone.
Last day in NYC and we stopped in before catching the train back to Ohio. All four of us had great food, but just as important was the great energy, smiles, and welcoming and friendly service. We got there before the lunch rush and ate in. The staff/owners interacted with everyone with kindness. They deserve all the stars!
Clean, healthy and fresh ingredients. We got a cold sandwich, hot pressed sandwich and salad. All were really flavorful with high quality ingredients. Staff and owner were really friendly too. Would highly recommend for lunch. Looking forward to coming back for more.
There's something different about these sandwiches. We get these for catering in the office and I am always so freaking excited about it. The breads are not too soggy and not too crunchy, just the right amount of chew. The ingredients are always fresh. I love the chicken chimichurri -- so delicious. I love that every bite is consistent with the other ones. They also pair the salads very well with their dressings. YUMMY. This is how all sandwiches should definitely be. Will have to come to visit in the brick and mortar soon.
Its definitely one of the best hotpress sandwiches I have tried. I got the chicken melt. The mozzarella and pesto combo was perfect! It’s a small hole in the wall store with almost no sitting space. So prepare to get the sandwich to-go
I order from Picnic Basket all the time. Love love love the food. Always fresh, always tasty. When you order for a group and give names for each item they write the name on the bag of each one, often with a smiley face or a heart. And I love that they get their breads from local NYC vendors :) The soups are amazing! Tomato is my favorite!! 1000 stars for Picnic Basket!!
Stephanie on the phone was SO kind! They have wonderful customer service is so rare these days so I greatly appreciated our interaction. I had an issue with a third party delivery app effecting my order at the Picnic Basket. TIP for people doing delivery, DO NOT use uber eats. Call them directly or use chow now to place deliveries. Stephanie helped fix my issue and get my food to me. The food was great. we will definitely be back!
The Chicken Melt at The Picnic Basket is incredible! Perfectly grilled bread with just the right crunch, filled with juicy, well-seasoned chicken and melty cheese that ties it all together. It’s hearty, comforting, and full of flavor without feeling greasy or heavy. What I really love is how balanced it is—rich and satisfying, but still fresh, thanks to the quality of the ingredients. Paired with one of their salads or soups, it makes for the perfect lunch.
This place is consistently good. I highly recommend the chicken meal or the prosciutto with pesto. Garlic condiment is also a win.
Great place for some delicious sandwiches. They even have gluten free bread available
i loveee picnic basket! it’s right next to my work and it’s such a treat! the best food & sweetest service <3
The people at front are soo nice. Food outstanding. You have to try the lemonade. You can have a great meal perfectly priced. My favorite part of my day is stepping foot into TPB
need a sandwich that won’t let you down in the rush of your lunch break? this place consistently gives the best chicken sandwich, there’s a ton of other ones to get but i’ve never strayed away from their hot pressed chicken melt. get a side of chili sauce for some spice 🌶️
Loved my sandwich! I got the halloumi and my partner got the chicken Amarillo. Delicious sandwiches!!! Would definitely come back.
I absolutely love this place, healthy, hearty, fresh, and friendly staff. I love the hot press Turkey and Herbs, and Mozzarella, sweet potato, sandwiches Mediterranean Turkey and Filet of roast beef, lemonade and the hot Chia tea during winter is great to start my work day. Any of the salads are great too. They always take care of you and are good people. Go support and check them out for lunch.
The best chicken sandwich in midtown and the most lovely service
Absolutely love their sandwiches!! The chicken pesto, the chicken melt, the turkey and herbs and everything is absolutely amazing!!! Couldn’t suggest it more!
A great place for a quick lunch on 3rd Avenue. Close to many midtown offices, the Picnic basket is located under a traditional-looking lobby. When you walk through the revolving doors, go down the escalator and you will see the Picnic Basket. Get the Turkey, Swiss & Pesto panini - no matter how many times I have it, I want more! The (packaged) chips offered are cooked in peanut oil, so be aware if you have an allergy that you will have to get chips elsewhere. The Picnic Basket also have a selection of drinks, including San Pellegrino Italian Sodas. Enjoy!
I love the vegan options here and their house made hummus! The cashiers are so friendly and the service is quick.
This is a great little spot for lunch sandwiches. I've eaten here several times and have gotten the vegan shawarma on a pita, it's delicious! For those with dietary restrictions, the menu is clearly labeled with vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options.
I LOVE THIS PLACE! Been working in Midtown for years and this is by far my coworker and Is favorite spot. Delicious sandwiches, fabulous staff, and the tastiest homemade aioli east of the Mississippi. Would recommend for dine in or out, for big or small, and for individual or team bonding outings! Perfect for every occasion!! Honorable mention to the Prosciutto di Parma. MUAH
Had the Chicken Pesto sandwich here recently and it was perfect! Everything I want from a sandwich, hot fresh ingredients, crisp crunchy bread on the outside, warm and soft on the inside. This is my new go-to sandwich place in Midtown for sure! Highly recommend
Great Sandwiches, quick service and friendly staff. I’ve tried the chicken melt and pastrami - both were delicious. Would recommend
The Picnic Basket—My Little Sandwich Salvation Tucked away on West 37th, The Picnic Basket is one of those hidden pocket spots that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled onto something the locals are trying to keep quiet. This is a family-run sandwich shop with a fantastic menu that somehow manages to hit across every type of taste and dietary offering. I plan to try almost every single sandwich, but so far the Chicken Melt is the bomb-dot-com…the kind of sandwich that turns a regular Tuesday into a minor victory. The pastrami runs a close second: zero shortcuts taken. I’ve also devoured my way through the Chimi Chicken, Crunchy Tuna, and Turkey & Herbs so far, and frankly, if the Chicken Melt didn’t exist, any one of these would be the move for any lunch. Another wonderful gift of this place is the speed. Food comes out fast enough to make you suspicious, but tasty enough to erase all doubt. When you’re running around this area between meetings and need something reliable and absolutely delicious, this is the spot.
Picnic basket is a must try spot in the heart of NYC. I’m fortunate to work around the corner and it is everyone’s go-to. Salads are unique and delicious. Cheers
This place is a GEM. The staff is always smiling and welcoming! The food is always great, it’s always fresh, and it always hits right. Love their salads, especially the root vegetable one. The chicken melt is also a favorite! Perfect spot if you are looking for fresh homemade comfort food.
The Picnic Basket is one of my favorite lunch spots in the neighborhood. The food is always delicious and the service is top notch.
I’ve used The Picnic Basket a couple of times for corporate catering. First time was a hit. Second time was a request on short notice - 3 hours for 18 people + delivery. They made it happen! Food was delicious and delivered on time despite the last minute request. Staff is responsive and food was a pleasant change from the regular offerings in our district. Our associates raved about the food…”BEST kale salad ever”, “Rustic vegan is amazing!”, “food is delicious - killed it!”. So thankful for Stephanie and the rest of the crew. You made my job a little easier! Hope to visit myself when I am in the city.
I worked with the Picnic Basket to cater lunch for one of my clients - they were fantastic to work with. Very quick to respond, very accommodating, and the food delivery was excellent. I'd highly recommend catering your next event with this team!
The Picnic Basket is an absolute gem! The food is always fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The menu has the perfect mix of comfort dishes and creative options, so there’s something for everyone. The staff is warm, welcoming, and attentive, making every visit feel special. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting—perfect for a casual meal or a relaxed get-together. I can’t recommend this place enough; it’s quickly become one of my favorite spots!
This gem in midtown Manhattan (fashion district), is my go to place for a lunch break. The menu is creative and incredibly diverse. Everything is freshly made on the spot and there’s something for every mood and dietary preference. Friendly and helpful staff. Personally I’m addicted to their turkey&herbs hot pressed Italian ciabatta and the dressed kale salad👌. Highly recommended!
This place is hands down one of the best sandwich spots in NYC. From the moment you walk in, you can tell they care about quality! Fresh ingredients, generous portions, and sandwiches made with real attention to flavor. The staff are friendly and clearly love what they do. Whether you're grabbing a quick lunch or looking for a great spot to eat in Bryant Park, this place is a must try. Highly recommend!!
Stopped off here for some lunch and it was great! I went for the goats cheese salad with chicken. The salad was so flavoursome and the chicken was in a delicious marinade. The hummus was also great too. The hot-pressed prosciutto sandwich was also delicious with a good amount of prosciutto in it.
This small shop is tucked away and extremely easy to miss between bustling avenues and other eateries in the area. This is a sandwich shop specializing in handheld that would be great taken with you on a picnic, hence the name. They have their own delivery service and offer very simple, but fresh and healthy, food. I had the chimi chicken and baked sweet potato bites. The chicken was juicy and made only better with the sauce on the sturdy bread. The sandwich was also well filled and not lacking in flavor. The potato bites were surprisingly tasty and I found myself not missing a more unhealthy alternative. The staff are incredibly kind and helpful whether in person or on the phone. There are some chairs for sitting in at the small storefront space, and it feels cozy. Overall, a good place to get a good sandwich in the bustling city.
Had a wonderful time getting lunch here. The staff were so friendly and the food was both fresh and delicious! I ordered Mozzarella, red peppers, and pesto on ciabatta bread and it was perfect! Some of the best pesto I've ever had. My girlfriend ordered ham, swiss, lettuce, and tomato on ciabatta bread and that was also very well made as well. I would highly reccomend you stop by if you're in the area!
I have an anaphylactic allergy and just went here. I got a sandwich with gluten free bread and ate a half of it and it was good. Too bad they didn't advertise that the garlic mayo had breadcrumbs in it. I understand lots of people do gluten free for a trend, but some people actually have real allergies such as myself. I'd suggest advising on the menu what makes a sandwich completely gluten free (i.e., don't include this sauce if you are looking for a completely gluten free option).
Came here for lunch during work and wanted to try what was the rave about this crunchy tuna fish sandwich. Once I arrived it was packed city. However, the wait wasn't that terrible. It was moving pretty fast. Tiny place with like two tables and a sitting bar area. However, it would had been highly stressful to eat there cause there is a bunch of people brushing up against you. It's best to get your order and eat it at Bryant park or something.
I really enjoyed my first time here. I work in Midtown and have been searching for new lunch places near by…let’s say I’ve definitely found one! I had the Prosciutto De Parma and it was very good. I love how crispy the ciabatta comes and the flavor combination of the mozzarella and sun-dried tomatoes on top of the prosciutto was excellent. Topped off with a hint of garlic mayo for an extra (much welcomed) twist. Will definitely be returning soon!
Really good sandwiches. Stopped in here for a bite after having a long touristy day with my mom, and we both really enjoyed the food. All for a reasonable price.. we both got a sandwich, and split a drink and chips all for under $20. Even though I only had one, if you like spicy things, I recommend the spicy turkey sandwich. Yum!
Update: Went back again, quite happy with lunch here. Food/ingredients still top notch and serving sizes are pretty good value for the area. My only gripe previously was the wait times for online ordering but this time it wasn’t an issue at all. Old review: Love the food, but I've had truly unacceptable online order pickup experiences. App said the food was ready at 11:52 and I waited until after 12:30!
Visiting NYC and needed a quick bite. Food is reasonably price and good, some room to improve. Ordered a chicken melt. I liked the chimichurri and warm bread, but chicken is a little dry and unseasoned (if juicy and seasoned, easily a 5star sandwich). Service is solid. Food came out quick. Later had an unexpected issue with my food and came back and let the store know. Manager on site explained the cause and helped resolve the issue very quickly. I appreciate that.
their pastrami panini hit the spot! good cheese and condiments and amount of pastrami to onion. maybe one nitpick would have been to include more pickled jalapeños inside. i think it also came with a sauce (which may or may not have been for the quinoa bowl?) but to be honest it wasn't really necessary.
I ordered Dressed Kale and it’s just okay. Very watery and the sunflower seeds are spoiled. I wouldn’t recommend!
I ordered the halloumi cheese sandwich, and labneh with veggies on the side. The sandwich was mediocre at best. It had a strange tangy taste. I make far better Halloumi sandwiches for sure. The labneh was ok although I don't think it had decent extra virgin olive oil if at all. The veggies included were carrots and cucumber, which tasted weird, definitely not fresh. I paid over $19 for this meal, absolutely not worth it.
I ordered the chicken amarillo sandwich online shortly after 5pm and I headed over to the establishment to pick up my order. However, the woman there didnt event acknowledge me. I told her I ordered online and she seemed annoyed and confused and didn't see my order. She was already packing up and cleaning, as they close at 6pm. A manager then came and found my order and the woman made it so quick and it was not up to par and not worth the money. They forgot to put sauce on it. I dont recommend this place at all.
The turkey melt was a 2/10. Couldn't even chew bread and too greasy.
