Do not pass this place up! Multiple times we have been given free shakes, but that's not the best part. It's the service and food, every single time they are the nicest and the food is always above expectations. I recommend the meatloaf, it's flavor is unique to this diner, however omelets and seasoned potatoes are just as amazing!
It was a nice place to eat 😋 and even had a nice talk with the owner while we were there. Had great food too.😋
Great place for a meal. Lots of options on type of foods.
EXCELLENT flavor and service! Go to in Oceano now!
Excellent service always checking in if we needed anything!
Very cool nostalgic place with excellent food and service!
The ammount of energy and comfort the staff bring is just simply amazing. Don't get me started on the details from the interior. The food is just top tier (The greek food is my favourite) 10/10 Would dine again
The food was excellent. I got the Meat Sampler, and I was instantly awarded by my choice. It came with two ribs, two ounces of tri trip and a chicken wing. The chicken and the tri tip were excellent, but they were overshadowed by the extraordinary ribs, that tasted like there was a party in my mouth everytime I took a bite. I highly recommend it for anyone who can appreciate good meat.
I had a really enjoyable visit to Rock and Roll Diner. It’s a Greek restaurant with a unique twist – the interior combines classic rock ‘n’ roll style with traditional Greek touches, creating a fun and welcoming atmosphere. It’s casual, friendly, and a place where you immediately feel comfortable. The food was excellent. I had the chicken souvlaki plate, and it was cooked just right – tender, flavorful, and served with fresh salad, warm pita, and a really good tzatziki. You can tell they take care with their ingredients and preparation. Everything felt fresh and homemade. Service was another highlight. The staff was polite, helpful, and attentive without being too much. They seemed genuinely happy to be there and made sure we had everything we needed.
Six of us and everyone's food was amazing! The service was excellent! Definitely want to go again!
A little warm with no operating Air conditioner working.
Kids loved it, they ate majority of their food. Husband and I enjoyed our food.
A MUST SEE!!! Full of history and wonderful vibes!! If the names James dean or Marylin Monroe mean anything to ya it’s worth the stop!!!
Great food and super friendly staff. Seeing reviews saying the staff is aggressive makes me really confused. All were very nice and welcoming. Food is always great here. Been here about 5 times and will continue to come back!
“Rock & Roll” diner train!! It is a dream come through with a touch of joy and a lovely history. The train restaurant is a magical place to stop and enjoy a delicious food selection. The waitress team is charming. Thank you to the owner for maintaining the place and the history. I Will be back
This place never disappoints, today we had a Jalapeño cheeseburger with fries and the Sheftalia dinner. The dinner plate came with 4 pork meatballs, rice, Greek salad w/dressing, Pita bread, and tzatziki sauce. Burger was big and juicy, but not to the point that the bun gets soggy. Only negative was not being able to get a straight answer as to the regular price of their beer and well drinks. All that was on the table was Happy Hour prices and when I asked the server, she seemed unsure. It was still a good $12 Long Island iced tea. Happy Hour menu is good, and is served from 4PM to 6PM. Lastly, I'd like to thank the awesome waitress, who always has good suggestions and knows the menu well.
Truly a wonderful experience and atmosphere! The food is classic and delicious. The staff is very warm, welcoming and friendly. We had the 805 fresh on tap in a frosted mug, so refreshing, and even the grilled cheese was the best grilled cheese in Cali! We definitely will be back to this unique 1950s diner :)
My first time eating here, cool place if you like trains... Philly cheese steak my wife had was really good she said.. I ordered half a chicken, first off that wasn't half a chicken.. I was really disappointed in the chicken, it was very dry.. the beans were excellent, the garlic bread was good, and the salad was really good .. service was decent... I'll try it again, and do the prime rib dinner.. will see ya soon..
Let's start with the ambiance, 5/5, you are dining inside a train, with lots of old memorabilias, old photos and old music playing on your background. Perfect. The place is clean, and organize, with nice big windows so you could see highway 1. While we were dining we saw classic cars past by, a pack of Harleys bikes, and some cool modern cars passing highway 1. Service is good, not great but very good. Food is like other american Diner, it's good just not exciting. But they also have some greek food on the menu if you are into that kind of food. Parking is not a problem.
Such a special place. We spotted it from the road and had to visit - cute decor and a huge menu, the Greek food is good (I had the spanakopita, it was tasty and pastry not soggy. Definitely starter portion for US sizing but filled this Brit right up!). The staff were super helpful and brought extra cinnamon for my partners cinnamon roll French toast. The music is fantastic too, and there’s a lovely history of the diner on one of the menus. Clearly a lot of love in this business
Wow, the food was absolutely fantastic and way better quality than most of the diners I've gone to in the area. They have amazing malts and different fresh fruit smoothies that you don't see elsewhere. Also, the lunch items and the breakfast items were top-notch along with amazing service. The atmosphere is also so cool, the kids were absolutely interested, as were the adults in the whole place and everything on the walls, it being in an old train, the whole nine yards. This place is an absolute gem and shocked I hadn't discovered it earlier.
Adorable atmosphere, excellent menu, great service!
Classic diner food which was great, everyone enjoyed their food! French toast, breakfast burrito, eggs, bacon, pancakes, milkshakes everything was great. Service was efficient and polite. Coffee was great! The place alone is just so cool and funky there is also outdoor seating in the back. We were a party of 6 and we sat inside so we were split into a 4 person and 2 person booths that were next to each other and it worked out good for us :-)
The Greek food here is very good! If you're in doubt, try it! (We had the Greek Appetizer sampler and Chicken Souvlaki kebabs. Highly recommend!
Love the Greek food here! Best pita around. Great baklava. Staff is excellent and it's very close to the beach.
Awesome 🤩 place! Was waiting years to come in and finally made the stop! Great food, atmosphere, and service. Unfortunately the jukebox was paused and not online so couldn’t choose sings etc but other than that it was great! Hopefully next time the Jukebox will be working next time. :):)
Thoroughly impressed on our first visit to the Rock & Roll Diner. The owner and his staff were friendly, welcoming and accommodating to our party of 15 wedding guests for brunch on a Sunday morning! He even allowed us to celebrate the couple with mimosas and brought us the glasses ❤ The atmosphere is exceptionally clean and quaint, decorated with decades of memorabilia. The train cars sit atop their original tracks and outside is beautifully landscaped. Now for the food... there is an abundance of options for breakfast/lunch/dinner from traditional options to those with a California and/or Southwestern flare. I went with the California omelet and country potatoes and was not disappointed. The omelet was fluffy and stuffed full of veggies, bacon and melted cheese. It was topped with avocado and the potatoes were creamy with a crisp outside. The portions are massive and you walk away either stuffed or with left overs! If you have never been, make this your next stop, if not just for a delicious bite to eat but to take in all the amazing sights!
This diner is incredibly endearing with so much history and character as well as a varied menu and attentive servers. I was seated right away and checked on regularly. I was there for Sunday brunch and had a very good vegetable burrito with home fries and champagne. I left very satisfied and charmed by the whole experience.
We had a superb mid-day delivery experience! Quick service by DoorDash, and great food! The Spaghetti with meat sauce, not so much sauce, but piled with spicy meat! Really tasty! Fish n'chips huge portion, order extra tartar sauce! Chorizo burrito was good, lots of eggs and cheese, but the chorizo was dry and really mild. The Elvis burger! Juicy and hot, with fresh, crisp toppings! Good portion of onion rings! Clam Chowder rates high, big clams, thick and creamy! Also the Meatloaf dinner, they actually serve real lumpy mashed potatoes! Good, rich gravy over thick slabs of meatloaf. Altogether a wonderful dinner, we will order again!

Rock & Roll diner is a super cute 50's restaurant in Oceano CA. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have a wide variety of food on there menu. Just a side note this is a Greek owned diner so you also have a few choice of Greek inspired food. The service was great. They are pet friendly. Thank you
This is a fun and funky diner in an old rail car. The interior is papered with old ads from prior decades and old fashion jukeboxes are in each table ( just for decor). They bbq and also have Greek food on the menu so a plethora of choices depending on your mood. A nice place for a casual lunch or dinner.
Decent. Unique. No heating for breakfast, food got cold very quickly.
Update: I came back 👍🏽! My first post months ago; Got a new discovery today! I wasnt sure if I would like to try for my brunch hunt reviews. But this is actually an awesome place! The kind of diner’s I have wanting to experience! Here’s my review: Pancakes: i have tried the best pancake before thats really fluffy and just melts, so I would give this only ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 it’s not bad Bacon: Easy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 they did it perfectly. Not greasy. When I asked for crispy, it is crispy. Egg: though eggs look like easy to make, it’s not. I wanted mine over-medium but it’s quite close so it’s ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 The staffs are great. Fast service. I love the interiors of this adaptive-reuse of a train car!
It was a nice little place. You don't go there for the food you go there for that atmosphere. And there service was outstanding. Food was just your average diner food, nothing bad at all, but to be served in rail car and the diner setting takes you back way back. Definitely would go there again.
I stopped in for a quick bite. I would come again for the atmosphere for the entertainment of eating in derailed train car. I wanted to love this place, but as soon as I walked in I was not so “greeted” by an unfriendly face. She had two other tables and was in the weeds. I quickly ordered my food as she seemed inpatient. I ordered the tri tip plate. I was nervous because this seemed like the kind of place that has so many food options, food gets over processed. I was right. Bad idea. The best thing on the plate was the chili beans, the tri tip was God awful, over cooked way too much Worcestershire way too much salt, the mashed potatoes where runny possibly box potatoes idk. The gravy had been sitting in too long and my food was cold. Except for the trip tip which may have been microwaved. The salsa was awful as well, the tomatoes were sinking and soggy. Anyway. Never mind I would never go back. One positive thing because I hate to make bad reviews on restaurants the restroom was super clean ! The server didn’t ask me how my food was and then she was very sweet by saying thank you as I stood up to leave, when I was finished.
Rock & Roll Diner is a cool railroad car diner, but the menu is trying to do too much, in my opinion. Breakfast all day would be ideal. We tried to customize a burger with their black bean patty and lettuce wrapped, but didn’t come out too well. The bean patty was more like falafel. The clam strips were good. I’ll have to try again, for breakfast, cause that’s what we wanted, but hopefully better next time.
Beautiful restaurant! The atmosphere inside was 100% worth the trip, and the staff were very kind and attentive. For the food, I can’t say it was my favorite—I got the barbeque sampling platter and the tri tip was DELICIOUS, but the chicken was a bit dry and I wasn’t a fan of the sauce, and the ribs were a bit cold and wasn’t for me. The lobster bisque (soup of the day) wasn’t my kind of soup either, but my friends found it delicious. Overall, I had a lot of fun here, and it’s worth the trip when you’re in the area!
The atmosphere and the service was great! You get a big amount of food for a good price. We decided to try this place for breakfast. I ordered french toast with eggs and hash browns. The food was a bit cold when I got it, and to me the taste of the meal was mediocre. My parents had pancakes that they liked, and my sister got the Machaca which she liked as well. It is a fun place to go to for the experience.

Awesome food and great atmosphere great music would go again Elvis burger is amazing definitely will recommend and will be returning
Great service, great breakfast, and fun ambiance. The cinnamon roll with icing was delicious.
Food is always great as is the service. Clam chowder is very good. Ruben excellant. Service very friendly. Ambience is nice 50's memorabilia on walls and period music.

Was not pleased with the food. Got the Seafood Alfredo and it didn't taste fresh at all. (Seafood was imitation crab, cod, and shrimp.) It is all frozen seafood. It cost $24 & was expecting fresh seafood especially it's by the bay. Sadly, even the Alfredo sauce was thin, runny & taste like out of the jar.
Stopped by on a hot afternoon, place looks pretty sweet from the outside. Love the old diner look. Food was sub-par and when mentioning to the staff, they were agressive and tried to kick me out. Much better food options around, where employees won't harass you. Then I found out there is a video ciculation online of the poor service and harassment of its employees. Seemed like a bunch of angry men either work here, or frequent here, which was weird, cause they all acted like scared little girls. 1.5/5 would not recommend.
We were less than impressed with our first visit. The main issue was the environment with no music playing. For a “Rock n Roll” diner, we expected a more lively environment. It felt depressing and lonely; I’d suggest music to match all the decor on the walls. The food was good but the waitress was kind dry at the end. The bussers were actually great, very attentive to our needs and respectful. I’d go back if I knew they’re going to pay attention to there details. I’m a central coast local.
Carrot Cake, Chicken Fried Steak, Chili Cheese Dog, Fish & Chips, Clam Chowder, Meatloaf $78. Meatloaf was dense, really rich and savory. Chili dog average, nothing special, beans were undercooked, bland. The lumpy mashed potatoes were really good, gravy was little salty. CFS was more like a highly processed patty (minced and pressed instead of a pounded out steak), veggies were also undercooked. Carrot cake was excellent, rich, yummy. Fish and chowder were good but not as good as some other places in downtown Pismo.
Cute, neat little place. The chicken salad was good for something light - but $17. The kids chicken nuggets were not hand made but frozen, pre-made nuggets which is a big deal to me. I prefer to be able to order my kids real food and think kids menus should reflect that. The place is EXPENSIVE for a diner! $3.50 for drinks and kids meals do not include drinks. We paid $70 for 4 people.
Food was average, service was fast but waitress not too friendly. Quant location and nice atmosphere. Pricing was also about average
Staff are not kind, belligerent and aggressive. Tough guy in the back is going to get a taste of his medicine if y'all don't put a leash on him.
I'd like to start by saying this place oozes nostalgia. A 50's style diner in a couple of old train cars. The interior is packed with old posters and millions of old business cards. The cards threw me off but hey, whatever. There were old nonworking jukeboxes at each table and they also provide semi outdoor dining on picnic tables under a roof. I ordered the gyro. It was average at best. Daughter ordered a corndog from the kids menu. The fries were good and the corndog, marginal. The prices are insane. I'm pretty sure I paid $12 for my kids lunch. $15-16 for gyro. Service was kind of awkward. The bis boy took drink order and waitress took meal order. After the meal the bus boy delivered the bill. I was blown away by the price. He then awkwardly stood right by the table waiting for immediate payment. Had to ask for some space. I know he was probably new and was doing his job to the best of his training. Never one to be rude to wait staff as that's a slippery slope. I tipped generously despite high prices and left feeling like I can cross that place off the list until guests visit. The location is cool and easy to find parking. It's just a small stroll to oceano dunes and beach from there. I don't take kindly to price gouging however. Thanks for the experience.
First time eating here and probably my last. I ordered fish and chips and was highly disappointed. The fish tastes like grocery store fish-sticks and my fries were soggy. The forgot my utensils as well. Slappy’s is top notch for fish and chips. Go there instead.
Staff was mostly ok. Food was not that good. I didn't eat most of mine. We were seated in the table side because someone in our party is disabled. I dont think they heat that side. It was so cold, it was hard to enjoy the breakfast or even just get thru it. The restaurant smells like bad mildew, like a very old boat, before you even enter it. Made me wonder what condition the kitchen is in. The restroom is difficult for a disabled person to access. Had high hopes for this place. It might have been great ten years ago but is in such a state of disrepair, I don't see it surviving much longer.
Beautiful 50s atmosphere, nice idea of have this style inside a old train. Like the business card all over on the ceiling. It gave you an idea of the business history. We did not have a reservation, and we got the table as I entered. Busses was really nice, the waiter was a little bit rude, especially when I asked her if was possible to substitute a part of the dish. Food was not impressive, sweet English muffins are not a good choice for eggs Benedict with ham.
No service sat for 10 minutes manager watched us come in and sit and ignored us and this was at PCV location . Only one other table of guests inside and already finished meal.

Bad tasting food and an overall rude staff. Was eating my food and noticed a hair in it. Tried to ask for the check but waited an additional 15 minutes for anyone to help me.

The staff was super aggressive and rude. DO NOT COME HERE. They will yell at you and everything. The guys with glasses and a white beard will be all in your face and attack you.
This food in this place continues to degenerate. I stopped in and ordered breakfast last Saturday morning. The bacon was burned to a crisp, the pancakes were thick, half-cooked and inedible. Think…

Not a friendly place, the staff seems very aggressive and rude. The food is okay and a little overpriced. I would go somewhere else then this place.
Terrible service, the waitress was so rude. Food was terrible and some was even burnt. Do not recommend coming here we will never be back.
Terrible service… I asked the waitress if they could make the hash browns with no butter and I started to ask her something else and she walked away. Then when she comes back she said “we can make it with olive oil but I don’t know for sure” I need to know for sure. I told her it’s an allergy and “I don’t know for sure” isn’t an answer. She said she said said didn’t feel comfortable serving me. Uuummmm Yeah I don’t feel comfortable with you serving me either if you can’t tell me if you know they cook it with or without butter. It was such an awkward experience and I don’t have this issue anywhere. If they can’t I just order something different. I don’t recommend this place.
The atmosphere was cool being on a real train but as soon as you meet the waitress the experience is ruined with her “get in and get out” attitude. I had seen reviews about their health code but we try to give businesses the benefit of the doubt. That said I’m pregnant, which I told her, and had requested the turkey sandwich and if they could just cook the meat on the grill a little bit and she said “maybe, we don’t really serve lunch right now so we’ll see if they can even do that”. Odd and rude response to me, I would have accepted if she just said we don’t serve lunch right now. But I’m not going to risk a food-borne illness for a “maybe”. I said I’d need more time then, she proceeded to take everyone’s orders and came back to me which I still wasn’t ready, I felt rushed so I just ordered the sausage breakfast burrito with home fries. Orange juice was warm, my potatoes were cold like they’d been sitting in a cold pan on the side. My husbands biscuits and gravy were barely warm, and there was black grime on the outside of my water cup, like burnt grease or something. Hospitality was sorely lacking, just dropping things off and only coming back to grab your plate and give you the check. Again it just felt like they wanted you to order and get out. Definitely won’t be going back again.
Don’t get me wrong the food was good, the staff on the other hand… really gives a bad taste to it. Maybe if ran by more professional staff, then I would come back
Place is nice looking but the food and service was not it. My partner and I were in town on vacation and had this place saved but now I regret it. The food was stale and apparently asking about the menu gets you attitude and food that doesn't seem fully cooked
Only giving one star because the tacos were actually good however I went over the menu I recently received which says $4 margaritas and $3 large tacos Tuesadys all night long. I bought one strawberry margarita two tacos which should've added up to a subtotal of $10. I got the check after not as friendly a welcome as the other patrons and it was $16 and change. I asked the lovely young brunette why I was charged $7 for the margarita and $4 each for the tacos. She went to inquire with the "not as friendly with me lady" who sent her back to the table saying the margarita was actually supposed to be $10 and said nothing of the extra $1 charge on each taco. Anyway no tip for (repeat after me) FALSE ADVERTISING! I don't think I will be returning. Take note on the left side of Tuesday happy hour ad. Look at my check!
