Had a really good time eating here. From the atmosphere to the service, everything was top notch. They sang to my inlaws for their birthday and brought them out a brownie with a candle. Drinks are good as well not to mention the good size portions of food you get. Definitely recommend checking this place out!
The place looks AMAZING with all the nautical deco and the food is just as good. The fried calamari is perfection and the crab stuffed jalapeno poppers has just enough heat.. ZING! I ordered the Hawaiian Mahi Mahi was pretty good but the teriyaki style sauce was just to over powering. Our server,Hunter gave us GREAT service...
We had a fabulous experience at Moby Dick’s! My husband and I enjoyed our dinner so much! I had the delicious Mahi Mahi and my husband had the char grilled shrimp. The vegetable and long grain rice was so good. I can tell you honestly that there wasn’t a grain of rice or green bean left on either of our plates. That never happens! The tropical drinks were made with the expertise of a skilled bartender. Our complaint- which is only one…..this family own business is closing its doors and retiring as of Saturday, 9/14/24. We absolutely fell in love with this restaurant. We drove from North Padre Island, and would make this a regular dinner choice if they were not closing. We understand that someone purchased the property. We can only hope that we see Moby Dick’s remains and their staff of 50+ will be there to greet us another day!
Really good place very popular but worth it if you have to wait food is fresh and delicious I had the grilled chicken salad must be the best I've had chicken was cooked well and the salad was fresh there was seven of us all the came out at the same time the service was excellent reccomend a visit
This place is really cool! You're probably going to have to wait to get in if you go during the high traffic times, but the wait is worth it. They have a great gift shop for you to wonder around in while you wait, and there are some outside seating areas for waiting as well. The place is decorated with a lot of pirate stuff that is really fun to look at. The service, once seated, was fast. The menue isn't complicated, but I suggest you take a look at it while you wait to save everyone some time! Our server JJ was on top of everything. The food was great! We ordered a few things and were happy with the taste and presentation of everything we had. The dining room is nice and open, so you won't be sitting in your neighbors lap. I'd definitely recommend the grilled seafood platter....it's amazing! I'll definitely come back when I'm in the Port Aransas area again.
My first visit but it won't be my last! Loved the decor. I didn't take time to check out the souvenir section. I'll do that next trip. The fish basket was great and large enough for me to have extra for lunch the next day. The tropical itch drink was very yummy and our waitress Devin was wonderful! Definitely gonna be one of my regular stops.
We’ve been a few times before but this visit was the best. George our waiter today was the best service we’ve had all week. He was very attentive, nice and Had fast service, always checking in but not too much. All of The food was amazing! We got the Hawaiian burger and the tuna tacos and onion rings and tried the garlic bread. The atmosphere has always been our favorite on the whole island.
My husband and I were very impressed with the service and quality of our dinner!! Portions were huge and cooked perfectly. Worth the price!! We enjoyed half off appetizers (before 6:00 pm), draft beer, and cocktails with our dinner. They have definitely upped their game and glad we gave it a second chance after avoiding from a not so good experience several years ago.
FANTASTIC!! Everything was absolutely Wonderful! The waitress was extremely attentive and super friendly. The prices were extremely reasonable. Great atmosphere. And the food was delicious!! It was the best that my husband and I have had since we've been here! (we have been staying in Rockport since Sunday, and have eaten at several places there, and have also eaten at a couple of places in Port Aransas) He had the U Peel Em Shrimp and I had the Fried Oysters 😋 We love this place!! And we definitely plan on coming here again on our next visit.
small wait but the food was amazing !! so yummy & the atmosphere was great. the gift shop had lots of cute things so i obviously had to invest lol. our waitress, Day was awesome! she was so sweet & didn’t get mad at the fact i spilt my butter, she helped clean up & was fast & efficient with our food. gave her $45 tip ! she deserves it & her smile was worth it ❤️
This place is unique, perfect for the area. Food was great, drinks were well very very good. Our waitress, Lexi, was so amazing!! She really deserves a raise. She went above and beyond for us, which was so very pleasant and honest, felt like a good friend. Google won't allow me to give the rating She deserves of 10 stars. Thanks girl you made our day! Hope to be back one day.
Be prepared to wait 2 to 2-1/2 hours during peak times (approx. Around 5 pm). The food was good and the service was amazing. There's a gift shop in the front of the store to browse while you wait for your table. You can also order drinks while you wait.
Big sandwiches. My blue burger was pretty good, and my wife's chicken club was very good. It was juicy and a really big piece of chicken. Food didn't take long to come out. My problem with the service was they left out the day's special which was all you can eat shrimp for 17.99. I overheard another waiter telling his table while I was walking to the bathroom. Their Wednesday shrimp special isn't displayed. Wednesday is all u can eat shrimp 17.99, which is a steal when they charge 16.99 for a half a pound. Friday is all you can eat fried cat fish 17.99 and Saturday is all you can eat wings for 20.99. I had to question my waitress to find all this out. That really makes me mad. Nothing is brought to the table to show you the specials. I took pictures to show you what's up. Half priced burgers from 2-6 Tuesday - Friday is a good deal. Everyone else's shrimp looked good too. Ask a lot of questions.
The service and friendliness of the staff was great! The lemon pepper mahi mahi was amazing and it was the first scent that greeted our nose when we pulled up. Very pleasant! My wife had the Hawaiian catch which she said tasted like a teriyaki base that overpowered the flavor of the fish. She couldn't finish it because it was a bit too strong. The calamari was perfectly cooked so all-in-all, we would go back but the wife and I will be dodging the Hawaiian catch.
The atmosphere of this place is really cool, pirate theme inspired with lots of details in the walls and ceiling. The service was great, our server Michael was attentive and offered good recommendations. They had variety of food options and prices are reasonable. I’m giving four stars because although the food was good it was a bit salty. The calamari was great. I would revisit this place and recommended.
Enjoyed this gift store while waiting on a table. They have cool gifts and trinkets for purchase. Lots of shells and t-shirts as well.
We wandered into Moby Dick’s souvenir shop, and at first it was giving peak beach-town kitsch — bright, loud, goofy, and honestly kind of adorable. I was ready for the full “tourist trap but make it fun” experience. And then… boom. Trump propaganda everywhere. It was like walking into a political jump scare. Total vibe-killer and definitely not the kind of souvenir I’m trying to take home. Cute décor, chaotic choices, and a hard pass on the propaganda.
I review based on the question "would I go back again?". Answers: Can't wait, yes, probably, probably not, no. This place gets a no, at least as for any of the fish dishes. Green beans, rice were good (and brought the food up to 3 stars) but the mahi was dry and didn't taste fresh. Usually not one to order a fancy drink, but did and it was good. There are two places just down Alister and one by the ferry landing and where the pirate ship docks that are much better. Not to say something out of place but from the number of items they were out of, the empty shelves in the gift shop and what I heard from am employee, the opportunity doesn't sound like an option anyway. In fairness, it's a nice enough place, friendly staff and prices were reasonable. I saw a CFS and a club sandwich come out that looked good.
Hostess had a attitude. Was told 30-40 min wait, after a hour ask what happened and was told we were next then they called two other parties went to all a three time and magical we were up..... Dinner was great service was outstanding our waitress was amazing, food tasted amazing...... 20 July 24 Sad to say this is probably the last time we eat here. The hostess was the same as before and continued with the attitude and misinformation..... The wait staff was amazing, the waitress even made a Arnold Palmer
Came here with family for dinner and the experience was decent. We had to wait an hour and a half to be seated (understandable, the island doesn’t have many restaurants and it’s a saturday). We waited at the bar and got drinks, which were pretty solid. I really enjoyed the sweet tart cocktail, as it was a good balance of flavors. When we sat down, our waitress was really welcoming. She was attentive, and sweet from start to finish. Service on the front side of the house was great ! Our food did take quite awhile (again, understand it’s busy but just know you will have to wait). The food was decent, and i was a bit disappointed in the lack of grilled options. I got the shrimp po’boy and fried okra. The shrimp was good, but the sandwich was lacking a sauce. The okra was very delicious. At the end, we had a birthday and *spoiler* they will absolutely embarrass and make the whole restaurant aware. They bring a dessert, which was real kind. Overall, the place is okay, and the price isn’t bad for the portions you get.
The atmosphere and decorations are spectacular, the food is not. We had the seafood plater which was a variety of items, tuna, shrimp, stuff crab, gumbo. All were average but disappointing. The best thing we ate by far was the hush puppies. Good luck. Choose wisely.
Atmosphere is fine if you want all the cheesy islandy gift shop stuff. I was told 1.5 hour wait even though there was no one in the place. The desk host who told me this didn't seem like she wanted my business anyway - so I went somewhere else I am pretty sure was better. Never tried the food here so really can't speak to it much. Place just seemed like a tourist trap to me.

Moby Dick's, that long-standing institution on the island, is preparing to close its doors for good on September 14, 2024.
