I highly recommend this place. The chef's skills and fresh ingredients make this a world-class experience. The owner is very friendly and creates an awesome atmosphere. Hands down, way better than RAW.

My absolute favorite spot for sushi in town. Always so fresh and delicious. Dining in or take out, you can’t go wrong here.

The wait time could be better but working In a kitchen and cooking myself (not sushi) I can tell you that it's well worth the wait. I usually go in with a friend and get 2 chef speciality rolls each. Typically takes 15-25 minutes for what we get, which is not bad. Staff is friendly. good atmosphere & lots of space. Doesnt feel crammed like other sushi restaurants. Lots on the menu, and the best part is that there are pictures of the sushi on the menu which gives you a look into what you're getting. I end up finding myself coming back twice, maybe three times a month. Definatly my top spot as far as sushi goes.

Best Sushi I've had. The service was great and they have lots of options. We had the Phoenix Roll, Death Roll, Princess Kiss Roll, Magic Mountain Roll, and Rose Roll.

Been here a few times, and everything the food never disappoints. The owner is friendly and everything is made fresh to order. Great selection too. If you love sushi, this is the place to go.

Great food and Customer Service! You can taste the freshness and authenticity. I had the tuna poki, chicken roll and fried shrimp roll! I will be back for sure!

Excellent rolls!! Highly recommend! Sit on the bar and watch them made. Fresh ingredients, delicious food, tons of options. Always plenty of seating. Expanded dining area. Nice quiet comfortable atmosphere. (No harsh lights or loud music) We used to frequent this place often when we lived up here, we are sushi lovers, try all the places we can. 8yrs later and we're back, it's even better than we remember. AND beats most sushi joints in the sac area. Definitely the best one in town.

Awesome sushi! Very fresh and appealing too. From the moment you walk in and sit down there is a good atmosphere. The menu is packed full with multiple types of sushi and other combo meals. The one thing about the menu I like is that every item of sushi they have for sale is shown in there in color so you physically see what you're getting. My favorite roll is a tempura roll called the "Rose Roll". It has shrimp, cucumber, avocado, crab, topped with tuna and salmon. :) Next time you are craving sushi, I highly recommend this place!

This was genuinely done the best sushi I've ever had. It's made with loving tender care, made it exactly the way I asked and exceeded expectations. Please come here. It is worth it.

Came here for the udon noodles and was not disappointed, if I could rate this place higher I would. Stop in and try it for yourself, you'll thank me later.

Took myself out for a solo lunch. Hadn't been to Kampai in a while and felt like Agedashi and a donburi bowl. It was so delicious! Sam, the owner, is also the chef. He has an awesome menu and a clean establishment. Check it out... you won't be disappointed.

This place is seriously the best sushi I had in Redding. The amount of rice ratio to filling is just right and the flavor is omg. Literally all the roll we had were good but my favorite is the crazy roll

I am about the little things and when they are good the food follows. Well worth the drive from Anderson. I'll be back as they say in Hollywood.

The special rolls are worth the price. They are very large and the fish used is amazing. Some of the fish would just melt in your mouth, it was so good. The krabby patty roll, and the princess roll were both incredible. The eel(unagi) wasn’t the best, I prefer other places for that but it was still good.

Absolutely the best sushi roll. I’ve ever had, made fresh just the way I wanted it. I’ve never got enough ginger with my sushi and today was the day that I actually got enough ginger with my sushi thank you so much. It was nice meeting you. I went on a Friday night havnt been here for a while.Im usually traveling out of the north state.I must say it looked nice inside I was never able to really see what the inside looked like because it use to be so packed. There was no one in here.We sat down and they gave us drinks.But after that we were kinda ignored I was like this is kinds weird.But it did take us a long time to get our food it was actually amazing sushi.Better than it use to be.And it's way expensive but ide say it was very worth it.But the young male server was very nice and got all the rolls right.All in all very worth it

We've been to pretty much all sushi places in Redding but Kampai sushi is the best. This is the only place that makes us want to eat more as where at other places you just want to stop eating after half of a roll. The menu is not too big and confusing and whatever you order, it is delicious

Did not dine in but did take out. Chef could make any roll you want. He substituted for my preference. It was so nicely presented in my take out box, I knew it would taste good and I was not disappointed. The vegies were fresh and 🍤 was crunchy. My husband ordered teriyaki chicken, again it was so fresh. This place is a hidden gem. Not far off I-5, make sure to stop in. North Redding CA.

Phenomenal....OMG! They have so many roll selections... We ordered the Kraby Patty roll, the Death roll, the Crazy roll, and the Phoenix roll, the Inari and they were ALL amazing!!!! They are only open for togo orders right now and close around 8-8:30pm.

I loved the food, & they were fast! I had clinicals for my nursing program, and needed something nearby to make it through the day. I got lucky they were nearby where I was scheduled to be at. I live about an 1 1/2 away from Redding. Great customer service! 🙌🏼Family business, hard working people. ❤️ The owner was so sweet too. They also have a bigger room with a TV, for big events. I ordered the Dragon Roll and Chicken Udon Noodles. It was tasty and filling. 😋 Love this little place. Great find. 💃🏻😊

Amazing sushi I don't know why I have not been here before today loves it restaurant was nice and clean staff was nice and friendly! Not to mention the grade of sushi you get for the price is awesome I couldn't just order one roll they have such an extensive menu and they have also adapted to social distancing and everything else for those of you that are concerned all in all they just got a new customer that's going to be blowing them up all the time and the best price I live less than a mile away lol highly recommend if you like sushi just go by there but they also offer a lot of other products as well and if you're not a sushi fan regardless check them out it's worth it it really is¡!!!!

I have been going to Kampai Sushi for over 5 years now, and even having tried food in LA, SD, Washington, and all across the PNW -- I have never had better tasting udon, sushi, salad dressing, and bento. I honestly would eat here every day if I could. Sam is a super nice guy as well and despite run entirely by him, the food is always consistent and delicious.

By far some of THEE BEST sushi I've had. I tried this place about 17 years ago under different ownership and it was good but NOTHING compared to what it is now. Its beautiful, delicious and theres so many other options if you dont like fish. Atmosphere is relaxed and service is phenomenal!!

We really enjoyed this place and the food. I do look forward to returning, but it did really take a long time to get our food. We were the only customers here and ordered 3 sushi rolls and one teriyaki veggies dish. After ordering it was a good 40 minutes until we got the food. We realized the cook was out of the kitchen a chunk of the time looking at videos on a friend's phone that was not working there. When the boss would go check things out he'd meander back towards the kitchen. However, the food when it finally did arrive was SO good. They made a wonderful rainbow roll (our kids' favorite meal), my husband liked his rolls and I really enjoyed my chicken teriyaki bento meal. It came with a soup and little salad that had the yummiest dressing I've ever had on it and plenty of food to be full. Very reasonable prices too. We even ordered TEMPURA BANANA with whipped cream and oh man, it was so so good. So while the service and timing could be worked on, the food was definitely worth it! We just have to schedule more time out of the day to go back. I also heard that sometime around April 2024 they will be closed for a month. They had some good music on that helped the time pass. Over priced for portions. Don't waste your time or money with the vege vege. Its only a plain roll with seaweed salad on it and the thinnest avocado slice on top. We need a second dinner and we paid $100. Instead, we sufficed for peanuts for calories in the car.
