Absolutely delicious! We had the salmon bowl, the Quartz ramen with extra green onions and garlic, plus edamame and spicy cucumber on the side — and every bite was incredible. The broth was rich and flavorful, the toppings were fresh, and the extra garlic and green onions added the perfect kick. The spicy cucumber had just the right amount of heat, and the salmon bowl was perfectly seasoned. Great service and cozy atmosphere too. Rakkan Ramen is definitely a favorite!
The ambiance is very intimate but dynamic with the featured aesthetic. Now the food is an entirely different experience. We ordered several apps, all so amazing, but the ramen stole the show. Two different ramens, Quartz + Garnet, spicy, and purely amazing. Don’t skip on this place!
I’ve been coming here for years and it’s always delicious, fresh, and everyone that works here is nice and attentive. The ambience of the place feels sleek and clean
Love Rakkan ramen! I'm vegan they have great vegan options. Love the Quartz ramen but the spicy garnet is great too. The vegan gyoza, brussel sprouts and cucumber salad are a must and great to share, vegan or not. And the strawberry shaved ice is super fresh and delicious 😋
I've eaten here a few times and tried a few of their ramens. Their amber and pearl are probably the best ones for light broth ramen. Their broth is super light and their noodles have good texture and their char siu is very tender. It all goes together very well Their gyoza is decent too. The staff is very attentive and the food comes out in a timely manner. The sake is great too.
Beautiful space in busy PCH with great ramen. The appetizers here are very popular and it's tasty, cucumber seems like a big hit here and it's simple yet full of saucy flavor. Menu is easy to pick through so I'll have to come back again to try the other soup types. Parking is free in the back lot.
Delicious ramen & excellent service. Highly recommend!
About the food : I ordered ramen and I loved it! The broth was really tasty and it was the perfect type of cozy food. The service was perfect, the waitress was nice and the food came fast!🙌🏻 About the atmosphere: really nice, I went with my family and the background music wasn’t loud and it was really nice, the lights are not too bright, it has a very cozy atmosphere
We rolled into town after a 12 hour driver and were looking for a place to eat. This popped up as a suggestion, and I’m not even a little sad that we tried it out! I had the Quartz ramen, and my daughter had the Amber ramen. Both were delicious!!! Light but flavorful with noodles that weren’t too overpowering in the broth. It was a little later in the evening when we came so it wasn’t overcrowded and made for a nice atmosphere. Definitely worth a try if you like ramen.
Fantastic experience all around! Some of the best ramen you can find in the South Bay for sure. The staff is always extremely kind as well. Had a few questions about the gluten free ramen and they were answered with care and attention to detail. Rakkan is a must stop if you’re in the area.
Thank you for the veggie options! The vegan bun was amazing and the ramen was good too. Came here with my grandparents and they loved their meat dishes, as well as the brussel sprout app. Good service as well and the food came out really fast.
Very tasty ramen! I'm not vegan but don't eat pork. It's nice to find a ramen place that has vegan broth. All the ramen choices allow crispy chicken as a substitute for the pork, that comes standard. The service is outstanding. There's patio seating, that's heated. There's a small parking lot around the corner and street parking available too.
I'm a pesactarian and struggle to find ramen I can eat. This place not only has vegan ramen (that you can add egg to) but it's delicious! I had the spicy vegan option with egg instead of tofu. So yummy! It has garlic chips, hearty mushrooms, among other yummy additions. We also had takoyaki for starters that was very well made and delicious also. I'm very happy to find Rakkan and will be back soon! Update: Just went back today. They have a limited edition that's a vegan creamy option that is SO good!
Love the Vegan ramen options here! Garnet Vegan is our kids favorite.
I am allergic to wheat, so love the option of gluten free noodles. They are very good, and have the thickness and the texture of Chan pon noodles if you know what that is. Love the fact that the broth is made of vegetables. Normally I don’t finish the soup because they feel fattening or unhealthy, but I can enjoy them guilt-free. It’s delicious and safe for me and has become my go-to spot for ramen.
We loved this new Ramen Noodles Restaurant. The portions are big, we didn't wait for our order too long, food was delicious and fresh. Staff is friendly. The interior of restaurant makes it nice to spend time here. We recommend to visit this place for lunch. The only drawback is the noise coming from road, maybe better separation walls would help. Otherwise all is good!
I asked the waiter to recommend me the best selling bowl of ramen and she recommended the spicy one. Hand down one of the best ramens I’ve had in a long time! I really liked the taste of the broth, even though it was vegan. That made me feel good about the food I was eating. The pork was delicious and tender. A little bit on the pricey side, but I personally enjoyed it.
This place has quickly become one of my favorites in Redondo! No matter which dish you try, the broth here is next level. Highly recommend the Spicy Garnet ramen, pork buns and for something sweet plum wine. We took my friend who is vegan and she was overwhelmed by how many dishes she had to choose from! By far some of the best ramen I’ve ever had!
Im still thinking about this ramen a day after. Noodles are served great. I got the spicy creamy noodles, delicious! We also had the pork gyozas and two bao buns. We waited a bit in line but we could see they were busy and for this place I don’t mind the wait. Dying to come back again!
Incredibly delicious ramen, it's hard to believe that the broth is vegan. The service is excellent, the ambiance is excellent, and most importantly the food is excellent. This is one of my favorite new discoveries for ramen, the dumplings and fried chicken were also great. I really appreciated that they had japanese craft beer on the menu, it's nice to have a wider selection than just Asahi or Kirin. Anyways, I will return to try every ramen they have on the menu.
Super dope spot. Very pleasing esthetically. Came before rush hour "Happy Hour". Got the 4pc Spicy Shrimp and although it seems pretty simple as a DIY appetizer/meal, the touch that made it "special" is the flame char on the rice. Kudos 👏. Also got the Pork Gyoza which was actually a good portion and they don't skimp on the meat. Accompanied with a nice cold Draft Sapporo, I'd say it was well worth the $24. Especially considering that they're in a lucrative neighborhood. I'd come back to THIS restaurant when in the area.
Rakkan Ramen has great noodles and they just added more sushi choices! There are not that many cool spots open late in Redondo but Rakkan Ramen on PCH has a nice atmosphere for a casual date or a quick bite, and the service is quick and efficient. There are a lot of choices for broth and they all come both mild and spicy which is nice as many places only do each broth one way. There is also plenty of appetizers and fresh sushi options to make an extensive menu with a lot more than Ramen. Having eaten in and taken out a number of times the food is excellent either way and the takeout orders are packed and labeled carefully. This is a solid Ramen options with more variety and good food.
I had a fantastic experience here! The food was excellent, and the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive—three different team members checked in on us during our lunch, making sure we had everything we needed. I especially appreciated the clean and safe outdoor area; it’s designed so well that you don’t have to worry about kids running near the busy road. Overall, a great place for a family meal!
A ramen restaurant with quite the selection, some smooth and silky broths while others rich and spicy. I was curious and ordered the limited time curry ramen plus a small chicken karage bowl and it came with a ramen broth I've never tasted before, mildly spicy with a gentle sweetness seeping out from it, it also included: medium firm thin noodles, half of a seasoned egg, two pieces of lean chashu, bamboo shoots and black fungus. The ramen is a symphony of flavors only with one outlier the bamboo shoot, I just don't think the bamboo shoot with the curry broth bodes well together. The small karage bowl was amazing! The chicken karage, crispy, juicy, and not too oily, plus a bit of what I think is sour cream all on top of a bowl of rice, absolutely loved the karage. I've also tried the limited time summer tsukemen which was bright and refreshing, just like the season it was made for, and I also added some hot oil into the broth for a little kick, undoubtedly the tsukemen was good but I think an extra amount of zest would add more to it! On 2/26/2024 I tried the winter seasonal, the Asian Spicy Ramen. Don't let this clear and innocent looking soup fool you as the spiciness rivals the taste of a homogenized yin and yang of szechuan and small chilli's while having the aromatics of a truffle. I've always loved trying the seasonal limited time bowls at rakken ramen as they always have a different uniqueness compared to the generics. I'll be back for another seasonal bowl soon... In the Spring. Overall, a more than enjoyable experience at RAKKAN Ramen.
A word of caution ⚠️ this is not for someone looking for that traditional Ramen Broth as this soups base is vegan. If tou do not mind then proceed with our featured review. Rakkan Ramen has truly become a major staple in my family to the point we tend to visit every Saturday evening before grabbing Gelato nearby. I actually stumbled upon this place during the pandemic last year just when places started to open back up. When it comes to dining I unfortunately have alot of allergies and often worry about cross contamination as well as unfortunate dining restrictions. I tend to look for places that specify truly vegan as I've learned I don't have to really worry about cross contamination. Rakkan happened to check off all my key features I wanted in a place. Great soup, gluten free and veggie noodle options and the bonus soups base being vegan was a done deal. Customer service has always been exceptional and I love how accomodating they are for ada/ wheelchair accessibility. I never have to worry here. The resturant is always well kept indoor and out and your always greeted the minute you walk up. Every visit is also as though I'm being welcomed back home. It's a very warm and inviting space to say the least. When it come to food I do have to say although it is exceptional I have actually began to notice inconsistencies with the broth. We always opt for Spicy garnet with either extra noodles, veggies, egg, green onions and sometimes upgrade to a meal to get spicy goyza. Although I've never had a bad tasting Ramen bowl from here we have noticed a drastic difference when it comes to flavoring which can in return affect someone's future return visit if it lacks that same burst of flavor you first had. On one visit one of their newer employees recommended their Nori Sake and now we are hooked. It was ice cold , cloudy and refreshing on these hot summer nights and pairs well with any dish. Speaking of dishes their spicy beef goyza is an absolute hit. The crispy flakey texture and burst of juicy flavor in each bite has become an instant mouth watering memory. Just thinking about taking a bite out of one will send your tastebuds back down memory lane. My only other flaw is just like the consistency with soup flavor I have found noodle texture has varied depending on the food prep chelf as well but when your hungry sometimes can bypass the noodles texture. Customer service is always exceptional even in instances when they may have forgotten an item with our order. I have witnessed their employees are empowered to make their own decisions in correcting a situation and it's handled gracefully. Although sometimes they may get swamped they never hesitate when it comes to continuing that excellent hospitality. If you are looking for traditional Ramen this may not be your top choice as my partner says it's missing that Umami flare, however even his big carnivorous appetite has him coming back. He actually prefers the vegan broth on days when flavoring is just right. If your like myself with allergies, and looking for ada accessible places this is definitely a must visit place and I'm proud to be a regular diner .
This is one of the healthier ramen you can get in West LA (and doesn't compromise in taste, by the way)! 🍜 The restaurant is well maintained. I like the ambience and cleanliness of this place. Customer service was also very friendly. In terms of food, We ordered cream ramen and spicy garnet. The cream ramen was rich in flavor and not too salty. As for the spicy Garnet, it is definitely my top 3 spicy ramen because of how pleasant the aftertaste was as their ramen aren't oily so it felt light to the stomach. Noodle texture for both ramen were cooked to perfection (not too hard, not too soft). The chasiu were tender and not too salty. Finally, did I mention their pork buns? Those are delicious too. Overall, I enjoyed this restaurant and would recommend ramen lovers to try out this place!
Most places in Redondo close early, like 9PM (but more often than not they stop taking orders even earlier). Rakkan is the one place you can go when everything else in the neighborhood is closed. I generally like their ramen (the spicy garnet is my pref), but their rice bowl with pork (and mayo!) is actually kind of amazing, in an unexpected way. The interior is modern but somehow somewhat cosy, possibly because of the lighting. I'm glad they're here, at least a guy can find some decent grub at 10PM.
Easy to get in and quick service. I got the spicy curry ramen special. Broth was just a little salty for my taste but I still drained the bowl. The heat from the spice was good, warming me to a good sweat on a chilly day. Lots of servers but not a lot of check ins, but polite and quick when I needed more water to cool the spice!
Nice ramen place. The resturant is located off pch on topaz street. The dishes are cutely named after the series of gem streets in Redondo. Location is a bit tricky with limited parking behind the restaurant, but there's nearby steer parking as well. They have inside and outside seating with outside heaters. Atmosphere and service was good. Ramen was decent with shareable sides with their shrimp selections being the more unique options. Most dishes range $12 to $18, but expect to add a side order. Likely will come back.
Food was delicious and decently priced BUT the service was lacking. Missed an appetizer, never came back to refill our water, forgot to put in our to go order, forgot the green onion.
Good Japanese Ramen near the beach. Got the vegan Maitake bun and was surprised it was served taco style. The mushroom was seasoned and cooked perfectly and in my opinion this taco style makes the traditional Chinese style bun better, without the gooey inside. Got the "Garnet" Ramen with ginger. It was just average. I come here when the Ramen Shack is closed. And the rice mochi in the Matcha ice cream tasted a little stale, not fresh like the ones at Whole Foods. But it's a more expansive restaurant, modern, clean and recently opened with excellent, above average service. I'm not into Sushi, so the other Japanese food here is appealing to me. Right on PCH in Redondo.
Nice patio seating outside with heat lamps to keep you warm in the evening. I liked how there’s a little private parking lot in the back. The chili and sesame sauce was pretty good with the fried Brussels sprouts, and it wasn’t spicy at all. I didn’t care as much for the vinegar and green onion sauce that came with it. I went with the Amber ramen to try something classic. It had good flavor and textures, although I wish it came with more veggies instead of having to pay for them as add-ons.
The limited special Japanese Spicy Curry Ramen is a must try. It's not that spicy as it sounds so I believe a lot of people should be able to try it. It's very flavorful and something unique other than the regular broths. Apart from this, the places has a lot of vegan options that I loved.
Great spot for ramen but their service needs improvement. We stopped in for lunch and sat down immediately. Ordered some appetizers before our meal. First appetizer brought out wasn’t what we ordered. Then first meal we ordered came out incorrect and had to be sent back. Ramen came out as ordered. The spicy and regular broth was both delicious. Ordered the small poke bowl with gyoza and it was more than enough food for a lunch. Unfortunately, the lack of attentiveness from our waiter affected our experience tremendously. We had to track him down or someone else each time we needed something instead of him being proactive or asking about our needs. There’s a small parking lot and also plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.
I liked what the style of food was trying to do, but it may have been an off-day when I went. To be continued...
Highball lemon juice was not fresh. Another table sent back a different drink for not being fresh. Spring salad was not fresh. Garnet broth was not reduced enough and had no flavor. However the chashu has an incredible smoky flavor to it. The best that I've ever had. Service was good. Nice atmosphere. Easy parking at the back. There's potential to be a great place.
This place was ok. Was not bad, but was also not grade. Their spicy items are not spicy at all (so of you are looking for spice you will definitely be disappointed). Their broth was good, but their noodles and pork is were it falls off a bit. I would definitely have it again, but this is not my top choice for Ramen in the area.
The pork bun is the absolute best I’ve ever eaten. My usual favorite appetizer to a restaurant. Also, the pearl ramen was also delicious! In addition, our table also ordered takoyaki and the salmon sushi. Both were a miss in my opinion. The octopus was almost inedible - extremely tough and I struggled to chew. The salmon had an overly fishy flavor and the rice tasted dry and older.
Second time in a row that I ordered to go and did not get all the items. This time, I ordered three ramens, got three broths but only one noodles and meat. Great if you dine in but you really have to be careful about ordering to go.
I’ll start off with some positives: this place has a very nice interior, pretty comfortable seating, custom plates/napkins, and nice decor in general. The food, however, is deeply mediocre. The pork gyoza were quite good, but the soups are definitely not the best. It seems that the restaurant strived for some originality, but they went a little too far. The noodles are very-well cooked, but the broths are weird, if compared to more traditional Ramen places. Everything is also very oily, including the sauces. Lastly, the water with which the tea was made was disgusting. The service overall is okay, but not super attentive, and during our visit nobody came to the table to check. A one-time kind of restaurant.
This is a nice restaurant in Redondo beach. It's located inland so it's not on the water. We sat down right around dinner time and the crowd definitely started growing once we were seated. The staff each does their own section and they clean their tables, seat the guest and serve them. I felt like that was a little inefficient but if it works for them, sure. The only issue I had with that is that someone cleaned the table with a hand fully dipped in chemicals and used a rag, then proceeded to serve food directly after 😬. The food was good, broth had a nice flavor. We both got the spicy ramen dish they offer and it was good (not super spicy or anything). Overall, we had a nice time.
Updated review on recent visit: there are many changes made to the menu and food. Which would be okay, but the flavor in the broths: quartz and garnet was lacking flavor and the noodles have changed between the dishes. The broccoli in the quartz was tough. It didn’t sit in the soup long enough to soften, felt like I was eating it straight out of the fridge. Makes me sad because it used to be my favorite place to eat! It is up-charged and lacks flavor + quality. This review is long overdue as this is my favorite location for Ramen. You can tell by my collection of photos! My favorite is the Vegan Quartz because of its creaminess and the Vegan Truffle (first photo), which is a limited time option. I have been coming to this one specifically because of how authentic their broth tastes. The atmosphere is great and the employees to a great job gauging how to interact with customers, which I really appreciate! Dining in and taking out is a smooth process.
Disappointing experience. It was as if someone who didn't really know Japanese food put things together instead of this being an offshoot of a Japanese establishment. Gyoza were deep fried instead of pan fried/steamed. Chopped white onion on top of ramen which was sharp and almost overpowering. Green onion available for additional charge and more white part than green as is traditional.
What happened to the portions here? We always order online. Yesterday’s order felt like all the portions got smaller.
I usually go to the Long Beach location but tonight my husband and I decided to try this location. Worst mistake ever ! Service was horrible ! Two employees running around but getting nothing done they were behind the counter on their phones or taking . Completely forgot about one of our app even after we told the other server . My ramen had COLD chicken . My broccoli was SO oily it almost ruined my meal completely.
I’ve noticed the quality decline in the past few years, but not so much to make me stop eating here. Recently, though, I’ve been finding it harder to justify visiting as often due to the prices and noticeable decline with each visit. It seems that every time I crave some ramen and visit, I end up leaving with some sort of negative experience in regard to the food. On my last visit, I ordered the Chicken Karaage and Garnet (garnet was good). The food smelled great and looked good as the chicken had just been fried, but after tearing off a piece of chicken, I noticed that it looked darker than normal and felt somewhat rubbery. I questioned it, but took a bite anyway and confirmed it was not good and even asked my partner if she thought it could be pork. I had a different piece thinking maybe it was only one bad piece, but gad the same experience. I asked the waiter to take the plate back and told him the chicken was rubbery and he very nicely asked if we wanted to swap it with a different plate, so we asked for Vegan Gyoza and that was that. Later that night, I had a stomach ache and couldn’t help but think of the chicken. I can’t confirm it, but I can’t think of anything else I could have ate to cause that much discomfort even onto the next day. I don’t want to insinuate that everyone will have the same experience and preferences that I have, but with that, I won’t be visiting Rakkan next time I crave some ramen.
I’ve been coming to this spot for years and I have to say I’m dissapointed with how the ramen has changed. I’ve had the same exact order for years and would notice some ingredients that were once generous becoming fewer and fewer, and now none at all. like the bamboo shoots were all together gone in the last order I had. Even when I would order an extra egg, I would usually receive a whole egg cut into halves, now I received half after paying the same amount with no indication of change. Even the flavors don’t feel the same as before. It’s been a spot I came back to out of quality and convenience, but now I’m heavily reconsidering
The service was great but the ramen would range from mediocre to terrible. The taste of the base was plain and this was not a great ramen by any stretch of the imagination. The noodles were more like soba than ramen. Then there was very little meat for the price. The plates and museum quality presentation was good but the food suffers a great deal on the taste. Taste is a big deal but here you won’t find it. This place will close down because the quality is so low. Several LA ramen joints have a great product (ramen) but this is not one of them. I would definitely not try this location again. I would suggest to avoid or find a better place to get food ramen. This is not it.
If you want your order wrong, this is the place for you! After working very long hours we decided to order out to make our life a little easier. The server was too cocky to write the order down when my husband ordered pick up in person and once home it was discovered my vegan ramen was not vegan. They also did not include a side dish we ordered or a side my husband got. The cherry on top was the hair in the fries (which was the only thing I could eat from what we received). The server did not care, the manager did not care. I have worked in this industry and knew this kind of mistake on a small order was worthy of comping the whole order yet they were only refunding what they got wrong. Will never come back. I have been to so many better businesses, best to spend your money elsewhere and hope if they get your order wrong they care unlike these people.
I don't eat meat. I asked to substitute meat for tofu and was told it was an additional charge. Not accommodating for vegetarians.
The taste of the food here is excellent! HOWEVER…they frequently get your order wrong, they make excuses and even when you check the order at the store, the order is labeled correct but the contents are not!!! I recently spoke to the manager, Jane, who continuously tries to talk over you and who stated “This is the final time we will try make it right with fixing this error..” So, as a consumer, I informed her that I will make it right as we will no longer be patrons to their facility and I will inform ALL of my friends and family members of their practices and behavior towards customers!!! FINDING A NEW & BETTER RAMEN SPOT IN THE SOUTH BAY!!!
Went Sunday 7pm, ordered edamame, cocktails, 2 orders sushi, 2 bowls ramen and the wagyu plate. Edamame never arrived, so added another appetizer as my daughter was starving, the special fries they have. Waited an hour, our food never came. I eyed the place when I came in, everyone in dining had their food already, so for about an hour they either served new people or togo orders. I had enough after an hour, paid for the bill and left without even having my dinner. Waitress tried to assure me “oh you are probably next!!!”. Here is a recommendation if you care to have. Take care of your on site customers. I am there with my wife and kid, I am ordering both alcohol and soft drinks, i am getting appetizers for the table, grabbing the most expensive things off the menu, not just one ramen and a cup of water to go and costing you 30% doordash fees. On top of that I am local, we spend bunch of money at hakata ramen but wanted to give this place a shot as it’s super close to my house. If you are not gonna take care of people like us who are gonna drop you $100+ on ramen and cocktails and tip your people 20% and most likely be a local repeat customer, then you are leaving a lot of money on the table. Even if you just think dollars and cents and could not be bothered for customer satisfaction, this would make sense. You wanna door dash your way in to profit, thats up to you no problem, but this store seem to have completely lost its identity as a restaurant and people on site take a second place to online ordering platforms. Also you had 6 people on shift at least to 10-11 people in the dining room so please save the we were shorthanded excuse.
7:45 (1h17 after my order is placed): still no food and a rat barges out from the restaurant right in front and the pick up customers waiting for me outside! That's the cherry on top! I decided to walk and ask how much longer. I'm being told I'm the 2nd order in line, I see zero (0) bags being prepared. They also tell me what I thought before. They prioritize walk ins. I had call them before placing my order, they said 40-45 min, I asked to repeat they 45 min. 1h45 my food wasn't even close to be prepped! And the rat! Do NOT go there, neither to dine in nor to pick-up! First post: They are making pick-up orders wait forever. It's been 1hr I've been waiting despite the online order conformation that it'd be ready in 10 min! New customers walk in as im waiting, they are getting their food right away. I see them eat as I write this review. Unhappy!
Very disappointing experience. The hot sake tasted old, and the ramen was bland with a very small portion—just a little bit of noodles and only two pieces of protein. For the price, it felt like a waste of a Friday night. On top of that, we were rushed to finish, which made the experience even worse. Definitely wouldn’t recommend.
