Best Panera on the east coast. Randy is the best worker, very friendly and always happy to see me. I was a regular for quite some time because of the sip club but when Randy stopped working at the front as often, I canceled my membership because none of the other employees were as friendly or made my drink how I asked. I will still give five stars because randy deserves them all (give this man a raise- ASAP)
Ordered breakfast sandwiches for my special needs senior rescue dog. He didn’t eat yesterday and not feeling well. I’ve tried to give him biscuits from other restaurants and he will not eat it. He sure gobbled up his bacon egg and cheese on ciabatta. Thank you for the fresh food and making my baby feel like eating.
I love to go here just to get a drink or to have a meal. There are places to sit outside and inside, and there's a comfortable atmosphere with excellent food. And drink options
Delicious soup and Mac and cheese. Liz at the cashier has great customer service skills. The patience she showed to the customer before us was AMAZING. And she kept reassuring us that she’d be right with us! Just a great overall employee! Give her a shout out!
We love Panera and I love the app. Rewards & coupons are bonus along with the new items always being added. A shout out to Jenna for her great service tonight as it was very busy!!
Nice and clean. Love Panera, overall, because they have good quality ingredients and a nice range of options if I want to be healthy (or not...) and because of the atmosphere (like silverware and plates instead of plastic). Workers are nice and keep things well maintained. Food is prepared properly.
Nothing beats warm soup delivered on chilly nights during cold/flu season! And Panera is great for reasonably priced and delicious soups. Their staff and management team are extremely helpful and friendly whether in person orders or online. This is also a review for Grubhub which I highly recommend selecting as the delivery option if not picking it up yourself. I’d had it delivered by others in the past and would get half the order or less, once no order at all. Once I switched to Grubhub rather than just delivering part of the order without saying anything or removing charges for missing items, when they were short a bread bowl this week the driver and store helped me get extra soup to make up for it. Amazing experience all around and already feeling less sniffly after this soothing soup 😋 It’s also one of the lower calorie restaurant creamy soups I’ve found in the area for fellow calorie counters.
I have never been inside this location. However, I have always had great service when I am in the drive-thru.
My husband and I are sick so we ordered delivery and something was missing from the order. But when I called the store to get it fixed, Michael went above and beyond to get us our food and quickly. Thank you so much Michael.
Panera has been getting a bad rap in some recent reviews, but my experience recently was positive. It was a cold day and all I wanted was a bowl of hot soup. I ordered their cream of chicken and wild rice and got a very generous serving in a large bowl, along with a crusty chunk of bagette. It really hit the spot! The service wasn't the fastest ever, but the food and friendly staff made it worth the wait.
The seating layout with the two fireplaces is a great atmosphere, very cozy. Dining areas, drink stations, and restrooms are clean. Sits in a nice centralized location and near the highways. Staff is friendly. Only had drinks but they were as they should be and milks for coffee stayed stocked. It is a nice spacious Panera.
Excellent, low key relaxed place for breakfast. The sausage, egg, and cheese on a toasted asiago bagel with aoli sauce is great! Their hot coffee is excellent and you can get refills self serve on it. I typically like iced coffee but thst does not have refills, so I get the hot coffee and prefer the dark roast. Had some issues with the use of purchased gift cards loading and being used from the app (and it was not the $5 gift card bonus that has a limited month of use in the future to remember to use), it was on the base $50 gift card use from the app. It took a while for manager to get it to work and there is some improvement that could occur from a customer service standpoint. The gift card purchase was not worth the hassle with not being to use it seamlessly due to IT issues. Not entirely the stores fault but a big chain like they are, they should not have any IT issues on giftcards purchased.
Very busy, coffee needed to be changed out. Lots of people ordering. Will go again.
I have not been to Panera in a few years, and I don't know why I stopped going, but I'm back. I love the atmosphere of the restaurant. I got a Greek salad, it was good, fresh and healthy. Good, fast serviceI will be back. And it's only 2 miles from my house.
The food is absolutely delicious, but the service could be better. I went through the drive-thru and the person taking my order was brisk and not very friendly.
They were too busy, 25 orders ahead of ours, our buzzer never went off. We had to go to the window and ask twice. Plus, bread crust was hard on my sandwich, I couldn't eat it after it scraped the inside of my mouth. Food is good, once you get it. But it was after traditional lunch hour. Maybe they need more help.
Panera Bread has been convenient every time I order for pick up. They even delivered to me past their closing time. I just wish I could get a pecan braid! Every time I try, it's unavailable 😭
Update 11/12/25: Cheesesteak I had in this visit was FANTASTIC. By far the best meal I've had at this Panera, but the service was still quite lackluster to me. Original: This place is hopping, and for good reason. A couple visits to here, and the food has been pretty damn good, especially today's orange and cranberry pound cake that is out of this world. The staff are quick, but overall service is very slow as it took almost 20 minutes to get served two soups and a sandwich. The place otherwise is well run and clean. Strongly recommend!
Would have given 5 stars, but the bread bowl was way more bread than soup. The manager-Jessica on duty is running everything. Making sure everything is running smooth. The bathrooms were clean. She is checking on her employees every time it slows down. That's what you call a team leader. Definitely will be back.
If you want to sit and eat, you'd be better off ordering on the app. They kindly gave me a refund after I asked to cancel my order because after waiting for over 45 mins. It would have been okay if I knew that my order would be pushed back continuously when I placed it but there was no warning.
Takes forever to get food but when you do its delicious
The place was super busy making long wait times even for online orders. I ordered 20 mins b4 getting there and still waited almost 30 more minutes in store for my food to be prepared. The menu was missing several key items and the food given was mediocre at best
Staff on drive thru are not friendly. Made you feel like it was a chore to take your order and then hand it to you. Very disappointed
I usually enjoy Panera and my experience. However, the last several times I have been rushed to give my order but have had to wait 8-10 minutes for it. This past time, I ordered a soup and a sandwich, not the you-pick-2 as these were for separate people. We asked for a large water and were given a small and we did not receive our chips. I’m not sure what the change is but the service has gone down hill in the past year. It’s disappointing.
I just wanted to let the fine folks at this particular restaurant that taking into consideration of the time of year it is, it was Appreciated that I stood at the pick up counter for every bit of 20 minutes ( if not longer) to pick up a order that was sitting on the counter mean while two employees that were working could not ask me if I needed help. And the manager that was on duty after the employees clocked out didn't seem to be able to ask either. Sorry my wife bothered yall with her order I was there to pick up. Happy Holidays
Ordered our food at 11:12 am, dining room not busy, they were busy fixing orders for drive-thru and pick-up. Checked on my order at 11:30 and staff was not friendly, rather snippy, said your order is 2nd on the screen and your buzzer will notify you when ready. Got our order at 11:38, soup was luke-warm. Would have appreciated some sort of apology for the delay, or thank you for your patience. Not in my future to come back here anytime soon.
I ordered at the kiosk and still had to wait 20 minutes for my food. The ginger/plum tea is costly and small and definitely not worth it. I ordered the Asian salad, which was good, but the portion was small - not worth $13. Staff was busy and service suffered greatly. I was able to hear staff complaining about the rush, plates were thrown onto the counter and mine had oil/dressing smeared onto it from another order. I used to enjoy Panera very much, but my last several visits have not been as enjoyable.
Some of the staff is nice and helpful, others are extremely rude and unprofessional. I had 2 bad experiences with my food being inedible. After the second time I came by the next day to complain. Someone I assume is a supervisor got an attitude with me immediately because I didn't call in advance. I didn't think it was that serious, it was a tea. I had my old one and my receipt from the day before. I apologized for not calling & instead of talking with me about my bad experiences she just shoved me another old tea. So, nothing was addressed & I have 2 old teas I'm just going to dump out. After that I decided I'm over buying over priced inedible food. I'll stick with my other restaurants.
I'm a big fan of Panera and always have been! My only concern is regarding one particular staff member, an older lady with glasses who typically works during weekday afternoons and evenings at the register. She seemed quite grumpy and, despite our clear request for a Green Goddess Caprese melt, she got our order wrong twice. She appeared disinterested in taking our order, and we maintained our politeness throughout. Her demeanor left us feeling unwelcome. I'm awarding two stars specifically for the exceptional service provided by a young lady with red hair highlights who works in the cafe/kitchen area. She went above and beyond to rectify our order, and we even offered her a tip, unlike the cashier!
Visiting from out of town. I ordered on the App two days in a row. Both days items from my orders were missing. The first day I checked before I left and more than 1/2 of my order was missing. The second day, I didn’t check and part of my order was missing. Quality control is lacking. Unable to evaluate Atmosphere because I drove thru both days.
Ordered online and food was to be ready at 926 and I got a message they were running behind. Then at 933 we got a text saying it was ready. At 941 in the drive thru they said it was still not ready. They finally gave me my food at 956. They didnt apologize or anything and just thanked us for waiting. Horrible customer service. I have had other bad experiences at this location. I would just skip this one and go somewhere else.
Food is over priced and the service is SO DAMN SLOW. It doesn't matter if you come for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, be prepared to wait for 30 minutes no matter what you order. As I am typing this, I am waiting for a single mango smoothie. I have been waiting for over 15 minutes, and to add insult to injury, I placed this order through the app to pick up. The employees are always joking around and laughing instead of actually working, and it's not a good look. I don't know why the service is so slow, it's like they don't think I have things to do or places to go. I wish the valley view location was still around because this location is just SAD
Food is fine and staff is kind. But I highly advise against placing online orders here. They prioritize in person orders regardless of time placed. I've sat waiting 30-40 minutes after estimated pickup time for online orders, watching people who ordered after me pick up their food. Don't waste your time
We have had a power outage for over three days so far. Went to Panera for breakfast. I had a "steak and wake" sandwich and a coffee. The coffee was really bad. The sandwich had an artificial egg, which was only white, no yolk. The cash register accepted only cash. The floor carpet was dirty. The receipt had only a total, no individual prices. Disappointed.
For the second time, I placed an online order and did not receive all my items. This time, I walked in and when handed the single bag, asked if this was the entire order. After being rudely told that it was the entire and shown the receipt with all items checked off. When I arrived back at Berglund Center to drop off food for the team, there was only half of the order. Once I drove back to pick up the remainder of my order, I then had to wait an additional 10 minutes for the remainder of my order to be made.
No service on entry. Me and all the guests behind me were left to figure out that they only take orders through the kiosk. Every bit of food was microwaved, including my grilled cheese sandwich. Not a grill mark or crispy bit in sight. I added pepperchinis and someone threw on half a jar of pepperchini skins instead. We waited forever and had to hunt someone down to give us our drink cups. The facility was clean though.
Ordered 2 hours in advance for 3 to go cartons of coffee. Showed up and it wasn’t ready, couldn’t find the order, and then took 35 minutes to then brew the coffee and get it to us. No discount or refund offer. Just a “sorry”. Ended up being an hour late to the event it was for. No point in ordering ahead
I ordered food online for delivery. The driver was late, which is okay, things happen. He then told me he waited an hour to get our meal and Panera employees said he didn't have to wait he could deny the order. Meaning they didn't care if our order was canceled. I don't like that I ordered directly from Panera and they used Door Dash. I have always had deliveries from other businesses come from their own employees. I feel like that is false advertising. To top it off he showed me how much he was paid, a mere $5. For waiting an hour and driving across town. We paid a tip for the driver online but, I don't think Panera actually gave him that tip for his work.
Ordered online to pick up in the drive through and got there one minute after I received a notification that my order was ready. Waited at the window for 20 minutes. Finally they brought me my luke warm food. I questioned why it took so long and the lady said someone had put it at the pick up area inside. No apology. Food was still good. I should have gotten a full size Mac and cheese and a small size (which is what I had ordered & paid for), but I received only two small sized Mac and cheeses. I was at home before I realized. Disappointed at the quality of service to say the least.
Was there to pick up mac and cheese a tea and some bread. They completely ignored all the delivery orders that were on the screen and just made in store or drive-thru orders. New policy slows delivery process. Due to thieves, we now have to ask for delivery at counter. No surprise, I stood in front for 7 to 8 minutes after being noticed by four different employees. Two that said excuse me, so that they could get by yet no one decided to help. You rarely have anybody behind the counter to hand you the order, which is why it's ridiculous that they would put the orders behind the counter and then not even have anyone behind the counter. Standing up front three people see me refuse to help me I had to ask one to help me because she decided that she wasn't going to help me either. Should already be on my way 10 minutes ago. Here and buffalos are the worst places you can pick up delivery. Worst employees ever
I used to enjoy stopping by Panera Bread for a quick breakfast or coffee, but I’ve stopped using the drive-thru entirely because of one particular employee. There’s a middle-aged woman with short hair who takes morning drive-thru orders, and she is incredibly impatient and always in a rush. She barely gives you time to place your order, speaks with a short temper, and comes across as very edgy. It’s an unpleasant experience every time. Ordering food shouldn’t feel like a stressful event, and unfortunately, her attitude has made me take my business elsewhere. The food is fine, but customer service matters, and this kind of interaction ruins the experience.
Everyday is a surprise with this place and my wife and I do enjoy the food most times but my order today was just sad ordered farmhouse dou bagel stack with extra bacon and zesty peppers . Got a dry bagel no sauce, no peppers and two half pieces of bacon . Told the wife it's time to find a new place for breakfast with staff that can read.
It used to be good. Some time ago. Now, they like to mess up your orders. Their warm bowls are smaller than usual, sometimes they put cilantro in some warm bowl which should have cilantro, their soups cups are almost half full, they don't follow your customized orders.. They are usually out of sides (baguettes or chips) when I order (maybe it's just me who order at the wrong time). To be fair, I have to say that people you have to deal with (at the counter) are nice and friendly. Panera Bread support works well, and if you complain, they give you free certificates, but I am tired of complaining...
It took 40 minutes to get a lukewarm soup and half sandwich for $15 during a quiet part of the day. Sandwich was lacking in contents, food was forgettable. Spend you money elsewhere.
What a bizarre lunch at Panera! We ordered from the somewhat confusing overhead menu. Our questions were answered briefly with a somewhat curt reply by the counter associate. Food was ready in a timely manner and picked up at a window. My order was incorrect and was rectified with a return trip to the pick-up window. I had no utensils or napkins, so another trip to the window was needed. I was informed that the napkins were low in supply, so I was only given one per person. Our table was the nearest table to the beverage area. We heard a noise, and the lemonade-tea machine was emptying, pumping sticky beverage all over the counter, dripping down the cabinet and heading straight for our table. We alerted a staff 6 set out chairs around the ever widening area, but no one was able to get their beverages. Finally, a staff member appeared with a wet-dry vacuum while the machine continued to empty. An older diner became upset and berated the staff for using the loud vac and disrupting his lunch, obviously not sensing the reason for the vacuum. Back to lunch, I discovered a hair dryly stuck to the inside of my soup bowl! Another trip to the window, where I was given another bowl of soup, which was very delicious and hot. I inquired about a to-go box while back at the window but was told the restaurant was out. The staff wrapped my untouched sandwich and bagged it for me at the window. Overall, the food was good, the staff were fair in executing their duties, and I grew very embarrassed with my continued need to go to the window on countless occasions. I ordered the Strawberry Poppyseed Salad, making no reference to chicken. The order taker repeated, making no reference to chicken. After receiving the large salad, I noticed half frozen chicken slices that were watery, bland, and mushy. I checked my receipt and saw that I was charged an additional $3 for the mushy chicken, which I did not order. I inquired and was told they did not sell the salad without chicken. When I pointed out the dish on the online menu, I was told one could not purchase without chicken. (Menu picture attached). It's so weird. Did not see any employee staff in the dining area thru the whole meal. I hate this place, something always is wrong!
online preorder for pickup. Green Smoothie was very good. Bagels cold, not toasted, not fresh and they DO NOT put the cream cheese on the bagel. (There is a deli called Full Moon that has fresh, toasted bagels and they put cream cheese on it for you. Highly recommended). Panera gives their customers a tablespoon of cream cheese to assemble yourself… this is a bad joke for commuters. The bagel flat should be marketed on the kids menu - tiny size. The smoothie was good. CS needs improvement.
Food is good every time I get it but the service is awful. I ordered ahead and still waited 45 minutes just for my mac and cheese to be cold. They then wouldn’t take it back and I had to microwave it myself. The prices have also gone up to a ridiculous amount. I love the food but can’t keep waiting 45 minutes for mac and cheese.
Is anyone like me, and remembers when going to Panera was an upscale experience? Like, anyone can go to fast food, Panera was a cut above. Oh, how things have changed. I just went in, and once again, they are out of everything. Every single bagel except two varieties were gone. I reluctantly ordered one of the two kinds they had left only to have the kiosk tell me it was sold out too. It clearly wasn’t. I went up to the counter, and after the employee dusted off prep table after prep table, and then fiddled with the trashcan, she turned around and gave me a “why are you bothering me” look. I ordered my bagel and drink, and prayed she actually put on gloves since the last thing she touched beforehand was the trashcan. The gloves went on, and I’m just gonna pretend that her trashy hands didn’t grope all over those gloves before getting them on. The flat bagel was ran through the slicer and sent somewhere to be toasted. Finally, after 10 minutes, I got the bagel and left. I have not quite found the courage to look in the bag, but I am not hopeful. I will never be back.
It took 25 minutes to get a single cup of soup I ordered and this was after the lunch crowd. So it took their workers 25 minutes to pour soup into a cup. They are not trained at all how to multitask. This is incompetence of both employees and management.
Ordered a BLT, bacon under cooked and bread soggy. Ordered the new french dip, out of chibbatta bread, offered baget bread but arrived home with soggy white bread and a quarter cup of au ju dipping sauce. The 31 dollar price tag not worth it!! McAllister the better option. Avoiding this restaurant all together from now on.
The food was fine but the employees were extremely rude. I know we came at the end of the day but this was a nightmare. Only one employee was nice and helpful. The rest were extremely rude and disrespectful. They were also yelling and cursing at one another. I ordered at the kiosk it said they had items. Well when I got my food they were out of a lot. I ordered cookies they didn’t have any. I asked the cashier and she was so rude. Very disappointed and will not be back.
Data breech on my app order!!!!! Not once but twice!
I ordered an Asian Sesame Chicken Salad online. The order arrived as promised, however, it was a Caesar Salad. I tried to call the store 3 times and when you hit option 2 to speak with someone you get a busy signal. I thought I would go ahead and eat the Caesar Salad as I did not have time to take it back to the store. About 1/3 of the salad had discolored lettuce that was going bad.
Upon entering the restaurant, I was told to look on my phone or go online to see the menu. I was already at the restaurant. I tried to read the menu on the wall and found what I wanted and I went up to the cashier. I made my order. I was asked if I had rewards I told her I did not know and she didn’t bother to check until I asked her to check. Then I went to my table and waited. My buzzer went off. I went to the counter to turn it in to get my mail. There was no one at the counter. I didn’t wanna put my buzzer up until I got my lunch. I finally asked the lady that was making food. She said oh it’s right there and I said well how was I supposed to know if it was mine or someone else. She just turned with no answer. There is no customer service anymore. I will not be back to this restaurant. I guess the only way to use this restaurant is to go online, which I won’t do.
Portion size on cranberry walnut chicken salad sandwich absurdly small on the chicken salad part. Only equal to 1/4 size of bread. Very bad business.
Ordered a chicken sandwich and got turkey. I'm allergic to turkey I already took a bite They made me another that was correct and good I also ordered the bread and got chips The ceasar salad has cheap romaine lettuce and a tiny pack of dressing All lettuce stems Some Parmesan cheese on bottle Sad excuse of a salad for 6.00 Bread was so hard u couldn't cut it with a knife Our meal cost 40.00 Definitely not worth the price They used to be soooo good Loved this place It's a real disappointment now a days We don't usually try to eat here anymore and probably won't be back after this.
I came in and waited a couple of minutes at the front. No one greeted me or asked to take my order. I reluctantly ordered at the kiosk up front. They were out of what I wanted and came for. When I picked up my food the staff did not smile or speak back when I said hello. Food was mediocre at best. I had zero interaction apart from a “yes?” when I came back to the counter to ask the staff member (who was walking away) for more dressing. PANERA THIS WAS A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE AND IS IT IS NOT THE FUTURE OF CUSTOMER SERVICE. The coffee was decent :)
Been going here for some time and while hit or miss on service this was the worst yet. Waited near an hour for our order. Food was fine but we won’t be back on a Sunday that’s for sure.
IF YOU ARE A DOOR-DASHER DO NOT PICK UP FROM THIS LOCATION!!!! I work four door dash and receive orders from Roanoke county Roanoke City and Salem and this by far is the slowest restaurant that I can pick up from. My normal wait time is somewhere between 10:00 and 12 minutes. However, today I waited for 29 minutes for a cup of broccoli cheddar mac and cheese and one cinnamon roll. When I asked the quote unquote manager why the order was taking so long she informed me they were around 11 minutes behind which is understandable however my total wait time was 29 minutes. When I told her what the order was and how unacceptable the wait time was she shrugged her shoulders and walked away from me and never came back with an update on the order. I watched multiple people wait 15 minutes or more for their orders. Again I say if you deliver food in this area this merchant will make you wait longer than any other
Very disappointed. Ordered rapid, the cashier said it would be ready In 15mins. Got there 25 mins later my food wasn't ready. Had to wait 20 more mins, when I got my food my order was wrong, the manager didn't even give me his name. Said sorry and I paid for what the cashier for got to ring up..when I got home the Mac n cheese with bacon I ordered didn't have no bacon. Very upset. They gave me brownies. Told me they was short handed. Really 9 employees but short handed. Not busy.. smh very bad customer service. Ordered over 40.00 in food. I'm not from here, I leave in the morning. I will never order food from this location.
If I could leave no stars I would. The lady who picked up the phone this morning was so rude I almost just asked for a refund instead of getting my food so I didn’t have to deal with her. I placed an order online for it to be picked up in the drive thru, get to the store and it says the drive thru was closed. I called the store to see if it was possible if someone could bring out my order to my car. The lady who answered the phone was hateful. She told me very snarky “no you can come in and get it we only have 2 people working” and then hung up on me. I then had my boyfriend go in and get it so I didnt Have to deal with the rude lady from the phone and when he went in someone told him that they had given away our food to another customer. He waited 5 minutes before the lady realized they in fact didn’t give our order away and they still had it. By the time we got our food it was cold. My breakfast sandwich tasted like it had been in the freezer for two months and they thawed it minutes before serving it. The bagels we received were so hard you could knock someone out with them. He also told me that had more than 2 people in there and someone easily could have brought it out to the car. Overall I’m not pleased with the service or food I received.
Ordered tuna sandwich last Sunday. No lettuce no tomato. Came with lettuce and tomato. A thin smearing mayonnaise with a few tuna bits in it for flavor. Very disappointed. Will never ever return. Ripped off. Shame on them
I used to love going to this panera bread but the past few months it has been absolutely horrible. My food was cold and I had to wait in the drive thru for atleast 20 minutes at 10:30 am while cars were honking behind me and in front of me because it was taking so long. They have also gotten my order wrong on multiple occasions. After my experience today, I have decided to not go back for a while which is disappointing because it used to be one of my favorites.
Every time I pick up here for DoorDash the employees are unnecessarily rude to me. Extremely rude. Lol For this reason I only pick up for DoorDash and will never eat here.
Rudest "manager" I've dealt with, no people skills at all, very unprofessional all the way around
The chicken in my salad was still an almost frozen block and won't be thawed for a while, not to mention that they didn't put feta cheese on it at all. My husbands Italian sandwich was absolutely pathetic with a couple slices of meat plud they were out of the baguette it normally comes on which is typical.... as they are Always out of baguettes past 6 pm and the app won't let you substitute for another bread. And they were also out of sweet tea. Go to macados across the street for sandwiches. Do not waste money here!!!!! I will not be visiting this location anymore. 36 dollars for a pathetic sandwich, frozen chicken, and unwanted sides.
The guy at the window did not speak to me or verify anything about my order. No food items or price were mentioned by him. I pay with Apple Pay and then he tries giving me a huge bag that was not my order. He charged me $70 for a person that drove off before me. He did not verify anything. He then struggled to give me a refund for almost 10 minutes in the drive through lane. He figures out the refund and then has the audacity to charge me the $13 for my salad…… I try to drive off and he handed me the WRONG SALAD. I honestly need a refund of the $13 for all of these mistakes. LOL
This location used to be excellent. I will not eat here anymore. You're paying high dollar for food & they give you very small portions. Look in your bag people if you're ordering online or through drive through to make sure you're actually getting adequate amount of good in your containers. They actually threw my bread right on top of the napkins & utensils without it being wrapped up. I got barely any food in my whole teriyaki chicken bowl!! It was child size portion with most of the bowl empty!!! I paid around $13.00 for that! Do better please!!
Went here tonight on my way home after doing some early Christmas shopping. Went trough the drive thru order to Mac and cheese and a steak and white cheddar. The bag was not stacked right they put the sand which in the middle and crushed it got home to this never will eat here again
Ordered a grilled cheese and tomato soup and a cookie. The cheese in the grilled cheese clearly wasn’t even melted and tastes old. Probably left over sliced cheese from months ago. Also the tomato soup was cold and flavorless, and they forgot my kid’s cookie. Carilion’s hospital food is more edible than this. I’m amazed this glorified jail food is keeping them in business.
The female working at the drive thru on August 3rd at 4:56pm needs to be fired immediately! Not a single car was in line nor in the restaurant for that matter yet she told my mom to wait for 15 freaking minutes and she never came back to take our order! There was no reason for that ! She’s lucky I didn’t cuss her pathetic lazy self out. Management needs to reconsider who they hire instead of hiring just anybody off the street.
Sarrah S. a manager here seems like the most miserable person on planet earth, if you don’t like your job please stop working customer service like it’s really not that hard to be kind. Expect to wait a long time
The worst Panera I’ve been to. I travel for work and go to Panera EVERY morning. Unfortunately, the leadership and cust. service in this location is non-existent. I asked for egg on my Croque, and was told no, when I order this every morning in any location. After mentioning that fact, the gentleman tells me, “Well, you can’t get it at this store”, so I ask if that was the GM saying that, or corporate. He tells me it’s corporate, which was a boldface lie OR other locations are pre customer friendly. I immediately go inside to get my coffee, using a company card to pay, I planned to tip the cashier with cash, the manager tells me they don’t give change to tip. So you don’t take care of your customers, and you don’t take care of your staff…no wonder they have a 3.5 star review. Step it up Lynchburg Panera. It’s time to replace that GM corporate, this is my second bad experience in this location & I’ve only been here twice when checking on my own work location in Lynchburg.
I’d give less than one star if that was possible. I sat in line for 20 minutes and then pulled up only for them to give me the wrong order. The smoothies are child size, but when you ask about it, the staff Try to gaslight you and act like it’s always been this way. Kiss my ever loving….
I’ve started to really dislike this Panera Bread. Placed an order online at 2 pm and I didn’t receive my food until 3 pm. They even completed more recent orders before starting on mine. So much for “rapid” pick-up I guess. And even with all that extra time, they still couldn’t get my order right. Food wasn’t bad, but also wasn’t what I asked for. This isn’t my first time having this issue, either.
By far the worst Panera experience. I went to lunch at the Tanglewood location today with my family. The woman that took our order was clearly in a hurry and offered no friendliness or patience despite the fact no one was in line other than us. My wife and I both got the French dipper. When we got our food my wife looked at her sandwich and it literally had maybe a couple pieces of meat in the middle of the sandwich but the rest was bread. I took it to the manager and asked if that is how much meat was supposed to be on there. She gave me a weird look and said she would make another one for me. The other person back there said it was probably more before it went into the oven but the fat cooked off and that’s all that was left. I told them not to worry about it. My wife combined all the meat from the whole sandwich onto half of the sandwich and it still wasn’t enough to cover the bread. So disappointed. We definitely won’t be eating there again. We basically ate cheesy bread with a light dusting of meat. The French onion soup at least added some moisture to the bread and gave it some flavor.
This location has become so slow that it's mystifying. Sometimes the food is still good, but often its below average. Its a shame because its a great menu, but the food isn't made with pride.
If this was like the picture on menu all would be good. This was a sad sad representation of a sandwich. The soup was good but cool. The bread was good. Went to get the raspberry tea & it only poured water. Went with the whole theme of bread & water for lunch. The fruit cup was ok. Won't be coming back here n the future. My meal & my daughters was $35...for bread & water. Also took 24 minutes for them to prepare w very few customers here.
For some reason, I keep giving this location a try, and unfortunately each time I’m more disappointed than the last. The food quality here is simply gross. From salads to sandwiches to soups, everything I’ve tried from this location just hasn’t been good. For example, when dining in, I don’t really expect my salad to be warm and my mac n’ cheese to be cold…. The worst part of all is that the workers at this location are so, so rude. I asked an employee to give me an item, that I had paid for in rapid pickup, but did not receive, and it was as if I was pulling fingernails. Stares and rude responses. How bizarre. Definitely skip this Panera if in Roanoke!
I was there at 630am one morning. No one in site. I got to the drive thru waited and waited. Finally someone answered. She asked me was i picking up an order. I told her no. She said i will be back. Came back to take my order. Waited at the at the window 5 mins. One od the employees came and brought my food. I asked him who was the lady that took my order. He said it was the manager. She came to the window. Asking what was going on. I told her service sucks here. Then she closed the window said goodbye. I will never go back
I drove nearly 10 miles to this Panera today (Aug 29, 2025, around 2:15 pm) and had one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had. I ordered soup and a frozen coffee, and the drive-thru employee argued with me, insisting Panera doesn’t have frozen coffee, and even compared Panera to McDonald’s in a rude, dismissive way. When I went inside to speak to the manager (Sarah K, per her badge), she refused to give me the employee’s name and brushed me off with just a quick “sorry.” I left without ordering anything. Completely unacceptable service, especially after driving across town. Very disappointed in how customers are treated at this location. — Ronda Hale
The service at this place is beyond horrible. They not only messed up 3 of the 4 things I ordered but also very rude. Not one apology and acted like I was annoying them when I asked for things that were missing. Worse of all, when waiting for another correction, I taste the soup and realized it's not the one i ordered. When I told them I was given the wrong soup, she basically called me a liar, saying no I put the chicken noodle in the bag myself. I finally get a new one but I really hope after she asked for it back that they're not so disorganized/reckless to have given it to one of the cars behind me. I think the most shocking part is that several people came to the window with the same nasty attitude. 😒
I’m extremely disappointed with my recent visit to Panera Bread. I ordered a sandwich and was shocked to find it had no protein at all—just bread and toppings. On top of that, we didn’t receive any of the side items that were supposed to come with our meals. For how expensive everything is, the quality and service should be much better. To make matters worse, I tried calling to report the issue and they hung up on me twice. That’s completely unacceptable. I expected a lot more from Panera and sadly, this experience has made me rethink coming back.
I, like so many others, keep trying to give this location chance after chance to meet expectations of accurate, timely orders fulfilled with a pleasant employee interaction. No such luck today. This was my last visit. I went through the drive thru mid-morning. I was the only car, so no real wait. The drive thru employee clearly hates her job. This was apparent by the look of complete annoyance on her face by my mere presence. When I got to the window, I asked her to input my phone number for rewards (something she should have asked to begin with). After four failed attempts because she refused to look or lean my direction (a total inconvenience to her) as I clearly annunciated the numbers, we finally found success. There is a whole other story revolving around payment for my one bagel order, but you get the point that I'm trying to make by now, so I won't bore you those details (hint...employee was further annoyed by my presence). Long story short, don't visit this establishment. See below for the picture of my bagel that my new drive thru friend worked so hard to get me.
