Very pleased with our meals. The Rita’s original enchiladas were delicious and served with rice and beans. We got the appetizer of salsa and chips and the salsa was very good. Obed who was our waiter was great has got refills when needed and was friendly. In fact all employees were friendly, the manager stopped at the table to check on things and I observed the bus boys interacting with people and were very pleasant. Very good spot and has 10% discount for military.
Rita's on the Riverwalk was a wonderful experience overall. Steven, our server, was amazing and attentive. The doors were open and the fresh breeze from the Riverwalk was soothing and lent much to the ambience. People were laughing, eating and just having a great time. We were seated very quickly. My sister had a regular frozen margarita, which was so much better than the one she previously had at another Riverwalk restaurant, Margaritaville (horrible experience!!) The prices at Rita's on the Riverwalk are very reasonable for this area and the food!! Let me tell you about the food.. We started with Salsa and Chips. The chips are light and crunchy, not like some places that are too thick. The salsa was really good, definitely homemade. We ordered Queso which was creamy and oh so delish!! I had the Shrimp tacos, oh my goodness they were absolutely delicious and very filling. The shrimp were coated with a light breading and were cooked to perfection. My sister ordered the Street Tacos and she says they were some of the best she has tasted. My advice? Stay away from the commercialized places like Margaritaville and stick with places like Rita's on the Riverwalk if you want a fun atmosphere, awesome food, kickass margaritas and superb service, all for a reasonable price.
We loved our first time here! ASK FOR MARK! He was the most incredible server! Kind, incredibly quick, attentive, out of the world service. The food was incredible, we had the tortilla soup, it was delicious. Best dish of the night. We also had the pork tacos and chicken enchiladas. Both were out of this world. We can’t wait to come back!
Dinner along the river… Last Christmas holiday we went to San Antonio with our friends and had dinner at this place. Mojito, House Marg Rox, Strawberry Mojito mocktail and Mule mocktail we ordered as beverages were delicious. Our server was friendly and attentive. The food serving time was not too long. We ordered Riverwalk Queso in appetizer and Chicken Enchiladas, Street Tacos, Pork stuffed Poblano for main meal. The food we tasted was good, although we probably need to improve our palates for the pork-stuffed poblano. Overall, we had a great time and loved the atmosphere.
Rita’s Mexican Restaurant was fantastic! The drinks were delicious and perfectly made, and the guacamole was hands down the best I've ever had. Its location right on the River Walk was perfect and made the whole experience even better. I'll definitely be back!
Anthony was our server. He was so kind and attentive. Excellent customer service. He even brought water for our dogs! I’m thankful the restaurant was open late- but not thankful for me and my kids to breathe in cigarette smoke on the patio. Subtracted from an overall excellent experience. Food was yummy. Queso was delicious. The tomatillos sauce was so good!
Came here for the first time on a very busy weekend. I googled “family friendly dinner and drinks riverwalk” since it was close to 10 pm and we had our teenage son with us. We got seated pretty quickly. Our server, Bash (unsure if that’s his real name but that’s what his name tag said 😅) was very kind and efficient. We ordered the pork poblano and Texas plate, 2 beers for $8 each and a Mexican Coke. All was very good! Also love the lively ambiance. Will definitely be back!
This place is literally the best because of the people who work here. The food is great but the staff make this my go to place downtown. Jazzy is the best server I have ever had and she gives great food recommendations! The manager Carl was fantastic as well. Jazzy is the reason we come back each time!
Indoor court Seating waterfront scene. Every type of seating to please, everybody indoors, 2nd floor air condition, open air, whatever you want, they got it. Margaritas outstanding , probably the best ones in the Riverwalk.
If you haven’t been to Rita’s Riverwalk Test Kitchen, you are absolutely missing out! The food is authentic and delicious with the spice that makes this California girl’s heart happy. The portions are large so bring an appetite. Give them a try, you won’t regret it!
Fred is the best waiter and so passionate about answering our questions about the drinks we ordered 😂. Mama Mia- We loved our frozen prickly pear frozen margarita, yummy. And both of our meals. We will be back. Thank you
Great service! Mark and Kevin handled our group of over 20 people and got everything out to us in a friendly, and accurate way. The food was amazing! The atmosphere was perfect, we all agreed, this place is fantastic. I just really appreciate how friendly and fun the staff was too. Great place for our conference!
Man, we came back to see jazzy. And jazzy made our life so amazing. Jeevan, gave us our phone and we took it. We pawned it in for money. Just kidding she was a ton of fun and we really appreciate everything she did for us on the Riverwalk. We had a great time and she was a lot of fun and helped us have a great experience on the Riverwalk.
Alex, Jessica, Anahi were absolutely outstanding. They were professional, courteous, and explained the numerous questions my party and I had. Highly recommend as the food, drinks, and especially the service were top notch. If you want an experience on the riverwalk, this is the place to go!
Loved it here! We were seated quickly and the food was incredible. Their margaritas were great, tables idea quac was worth it, and fajitas were great! I didn't feel rushed to leave. Would definitely make it a stop next time I come to San Antonio!
Wonderful restaurant on the Riverwalk. Fabulous food and outstanding service in a lovely setting. We had the most delicious Caesar's salad with the freshest lettuce and crunchiest croutons, the delicate scallops with creamy pea risotto, the deliciously flaky halibut and the perfectly balanced, tangy and sweet, key lime pie. Even the bread was delicious. Our server Peter was fantastic!
Came on New Year’s Eve, and everything was 10/10 amazing. Service was exceptional and we just sat at the bar. The food was incredible. We ordered the sea food tower and for the amount of food the price was great. The oysters were amazing. Behind the bar they have a cold station where they prep the seafood fresh. At the bar hand prepping our seafood tower was Kareem. He was truly amazing. We got to see how fresh all the food was, as he hand mixed sauces and cut lobster and salmon He was hand mixing sauces to go with the tower and speaking so excitedly about the sauces he was mixing. His love for culinary really showcased in the food he made us. Something as simple as sauces for the oysters were made beautifully by Kareem. The cocktails were amazing as well!
We were in San Antonio for 4 days and ate here frequently. The service is great. Food was good and the atmosphere along this Riverwalk is wonderful. Our servers were Lucie, Gilbert and Yaya, if you get a chance be sure and ask for them….they were exceptionally. The manager‘s name is TAYLOR. She was great too.
From the moment we sat down at Ostra, we knew we had found something special. Our server, Gilbert, provided service that was truly beyond superior—so much so that after dining here on our very first night on the Riverwalk, we came back again just for him. We had tried another “so-called” great restaurant, Boudro’s, and were left very disappointed. But Ostra was a completely different experience. Not only was the service top-notch, but the food exceeded all expectations. The chef surprised us with outstanding oysters as an appetizer, which was out of this world and a most delicious soup. If you’re in San Antonio and looking for the best dining experience on the Riverwalk, don’t waste your time anywhere else. Come to Ostra—ask for Gilbert, and you’ll see exactly what superior service is all about.

The menu is marked but they can also double check other items in the menu if needed. I had a breakfast bowl and an iced coffee. We sat inside near a window with a lovely view of the river walk but also able to enjoy the AC on a hot morning. The food was tasty and the prices were fair. The service was superb! I think it’s appropriate for all ages. I recommend brunch here.
Don’t miss this gem amongst meh tourist TexMex. Local here for over 15 years. There’s plenty of Average TexMex on the river walk. If you’re looking for a BIG step up, don’t overlook this place. I’ve done both a working lunch outside on the river and a date night evening before show. Both times both the service and food were top notch. Most recently, Genaro guided us through a great diner experience. Tuna tartare to start was excellent. The clam chowder had its own take but was excellent with both the bacon and potatoes perfectly cooked (I’m from NE and this is always the failure point). The main scallop dish was also wonderful. Cocktails were high end with perfect clear cubes and flavors meant for you to notice. A place I’d revisit just for a drink before a show but worth a full evening as well. We’ll be back.
We ate lunch at Boudros and my 9yr old couldn’t find anything to eat there. So we found Ostra on our way back and she ordered the pene pasta with ragú sauce from the Kid’s menu. It came beautifully dished with an incredible fruit bowl for $10. She ate it faster than anything I have ever seen so it had to be very good. I can’t say much for the adult meals but if you have a picky kid bring them here. We got to sit inside by the window and it was so beautiful as well. The hostess and server were both amazingly kind even though we were only ordering for 1 kid.
yoooooo, this place is a must for all seafood fans. my family & i stumbled upon this gem while walking on the waterway & it is worth it. i would come back here just for the seafood. i have not found a seafood spot that’s fresh in & outside of the houston area but man, i would definitely drive out here just for the seafood. we had: • 1/2 dozen oysters - canadian & blue points, very fresh • caesar salad - real anchovies, dressing had to be in-house. just so good. • texas redfish ceviche - flavors were so smooth & the fish is so fresh • tamarind bbq octopus- a must try, so damn good • crab wontons - what more can i say since i sound like a broken record that every dish was so good this spot is a must for all seafood fans & lovers. we were all impressed, i’d thought my hopes were almost up on finding a seafood spot in texas. Ostra, my applause to you. our server George was very attentive, made sure we were comfortable & on-point service.
Stopped by for a light lunch. It was happy hour and the $8 Fiesta Margaritas were exceptional. I ordered the Cobb salad and they allowed me to substitute the Salmon for the shrimp, it was excellent! Aide was the hostess and greeted me with kindness and information about the menu. She was very attentive and helpful. Peter was a my waiter and gave excellent service. Highly recommend, great seating on the riverwalk!
I am a little late in sharing my experience, but better late than never. The food, atmosphere, and service were all exceptional! Eunice, our server, was a pleasure to chat with and made the experience even more special. I can't say enough good things about eating here, so if you are in the area, stop by and enjoy a meal. You won't regret it!
Had a couple cocktails, appetizers and early dinner on the Riverwalk with some colleagues. We walked from the hotel along the Riverwalk and enjoyed the sites, but parking seems tight. Our timing was good so indoor or outdoor seating was available, but it can get busy and a reservation may be needed. Food and drinks were good. Nothing amazing, but all items tasty to everyone's liking. Sitting on the Riverwalk was enjoyable. Overall a good option if seeking Mexican food on the Riverwalk.
My daughter and I had dinner here. The service was good they promptly seated us. they stay very busy and the night before there was a 45 minute wait so we caught a good time the next day.. the food was good, came fast and all server was very efficient and kind. Especially I noted that he was really working on the very stressful situation with the amount of crowds that was there. so I would advise if you could come to this restaurant check it out.
We picked Rita’s because of the outdoor seating right on the river, and it didn’t disappoint—the view and atmosphere were perfect. The hostess was very kind and got us seated right away. It did take awhile before our server came over (we had to flag someone down), but once we placed our order, the food came out surprisingly fast. Everything we tried was tasty, and we enjoyed the meal. That said, we’re spoiled by an excellent Mexican restaurant back home in Mt. Vernon, so in comparison, we’d give the food here 4 stars. Still, a beautiful spot to dine along the river!
It was a Christmas day and we were looking for restaurants that were open and they were. We called ahead of time just to see if there were open seats available. We were not given an oyster menu, but we did ask the waitress and she was able to tell us they had, thus we ordered them and they were good. The food was delicious and so were the wine. Staff are so courteous and very hospitable.
Our server Genaro took good care of us. We had a late lunch and decided to only order an assortment of starters. The IPA-battered cod and calamari were excellent. We also ordered a Caesar salad (excellent) and a side order of crispy potatoes, which were a huge disappointment — small potatoes cut in half and cooked until thoroughly dry. One minor nitpick, our table was wobbly, with one leg shorter than the other, and it drove us crazy. But sitting outside near the river was nice. Overall, I would recommend this place.
Hey friends! This review is about sustainability. I understand there is a lot of money to be made by selling alcoholic beverages to tourists and locals alike who wished to enjoy it upon the river walk. But it feels quite sacrilege to see it all served in single used plastics that pollute the very ecosystem people come here to enjoy. By 2050, there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish. And over 95% of the plastics we produce and consume to not actually get recycled, but rather end up piled in landfills, burned in incinerators, or floating off in our waterways. These plastics never really disappear, but rather breakdown into micro plastics that leech chemicals into our bodies. I wonder if there are alternatives you could consider for your patrons. Is there a Riverwalk association you could work with, to reduce the sheer amount of plastic trash you create on a daily basis? Could you look into compostable cups, and work with an organization that could help provide the infrastructure through which to retrieve these compostable cups, and indeed make sure they are processed? Because surely, this can’t be accepted as normal. Single use plastics did not enter the mainstream until the 1970s, and now they feel nearly inescapable. I know there are ways you could mitigate this problem, and help Texans—and those visiting Texas—be better TO Texas. Thank you for your consideration. Could you incentivize that folks bring their own cups, to reuse?
This restaurant is hit and miss. The bad. We had dinner and breakfast. Dinner was basically a fail. First the order came out and the steak way cooked beyond well done when medium was requested. They refired the dish and it took forever to come out. So my wife picked at her meal and gave up because it was too salty. When my second attempt arrived the potatoes were salted so heavily they were inedible. But by this time we were so tired of waiting or sending things back that we just left and ended up tossing both meals in the garbage. It was basically a waste of a meal. The Good. Breakfast was a total different experience everything was cooked exactly as requested seasoned well and absolutely delicious. Service for both experiences was wonderful but the kitchen I would say is inconsistent. If you look at other reviews there are comments the food is too salty so beware with your high blood pressure! We stayed here as part of the AMEX platinum program so if great dining factors into which hotel you select then maybe this is something you want to consider.
Our meal was delicious but ruined by the worst service we have ever experienced. We had a party of 13 so expected slower service. But rarely even saw our server with even a small request for chips or drinks came with several reminders. We were there for THREE HOURS with the last 40 minutes of that waiting on ONE drink. Once the server finally returned, he left to go check on the drink and we didnt see him again for 22 minutes. Even with all of that we left him a $120. tip (30%) only to get home, in reviewing the bill, and seeing that they charged us $12.50 for "one order sopapillas for 'OLD LADY' birthday!?!! Im sorry WHAT?? Cant believe they printed that on the bill!! That used to be our favorite place on the riverwalk. Never again. Thank you "Mark N" I hope you enjoy your tip and please do better in the future.
Our portions were ridiculously tiny! Our bill was $230 for $158 worth of food from their menu prices. They charged a $25 tip on top of the $40 tip we added. Then offered nothing but excuses for the excessively tiny portions. We have eaten at this restaurant over 40 times in the last 10 years, and we have never seen such a decline in the quality and service of any restaurant.
