With roll up doors around the whole restaurant it makes the place feel very open and bigger than what it is. Really good beers on tap and fantastic food (the waypoint burger is excellent). There's even a play area for kids with a movie playing the whole time. The service was great as well and very helpful.
I had a Great Time!!!! My family decided to stop by for lunch not realizing Waypoint Public has a brunch menu so we were excited. They quickly sat us even though we didn't have a reservation and the bar was happy to get us drinks for the 15 minute wait. Once we sat down the waitress was Awesome!!!! Recommended a few specials "everything on the menu is special by the way" and we ate it all. Try the homemade cinnamon roll ;-)) I'll be going back soon. Thanks!!!
It's a great place to grab a drink and let the kids play while you have time to socialize!! We had the fried calamari, buffalo wings, and the parmesan fries all delicious a little on the pricy side for the amount of food they give in the appetizers they are called shareable plates enough for two I guess lol... I had the berry cider and boy was it delicious they have a variety of beers too overall great place to try out if you've never been. I look forward to going again soon!
Wonderful food! This family friendly restaurant serves amazing breakfast/brunch! Bring your kids, they have high chairs! Bring your dogs, you dogs can hang by the side with no problem! Bring your appetite, because the food is just wonderful! For appetizers, we ordered fried tomatoes, jalapenos cornbread, and devil eggs. The fried tomatoes dish was surprisingly delicious and was my favorite of all! I ordered gravy and biscuits as my main breakfast entree and it was perfect! The gravy was not too heavy. The biscuits, along with the gravy and a couple sunny side up eggs on top made the perfect combination! It came with bacon too but I'm not a big fan of bacon, I know I'm weird.
One of the best gnocchi dishes I have ever had! Overall, great atmosphere and very attentive staff. Be foreword for those who do not have children, this is a very kid friendly place. They have a kids area for them to run around, which was perfect for our kids. Food portions were right on for our kids, they had the burgers and spaghetti. Aside from the gnocchi we ordered the beet salad and cauliflower steak, which were both great. Would highly recommend this spot!
Food and customer service were amazing. I loved that there was a kid section, however it was a mess. Parents were not paying attention to their children in this area. I had my 2-year old help clean up the mess. An employee came by and was shocked that we had cleaned up a mess we didn't make. She said no one ever does that. Well, bless her everytime she has to clean up that area. Thank you for having an area for our littles!
Went here for happy hour and the food was so good. The environment is very casual and there is a play area for kids. The play area for kids has toys a tv and play mats. There are gender neutral bathrooms. Great place to go.
Great food and beer selection. Good place to bring the kids, but it gets crowded and you have to keep an eye on them. Nice streetside dining to people watch and watch the world hurry by.
One of my favorite places to casually and frequently grab some really good grub and some kind beers. Everyone is so nice! They have a play room for kids and lots of beer for adults. A must visit place in North Park.
Delicious food, really fun atmosphere and best of all kid-friendly. World Cup game was on and even though we aren't soccer fans we had a lot of fun watching everyone celebrate.
You need to know 3 things: the food is unsuspectingly delicious, the drinks were fantastic (they have Huckleberry Vodka, do you know how hard that is to find?! It only grows in the Pacific NW), and their staff at the bar is top notch (sit/order from the bar). Hope that helps.
Everything was really great. Came for brunch. Friendly staff, and accommodating to everyone's dietary concerns. Kids loved the food and the play area. Movie was playing on the big screen.
Great place to hang out with friends who have kids. They have this mini play area with toys and stuff for them to play while you have a couple of drinks with your friends. Food is good, service was good...can't complain
Fantastic food and service. Highly recommend you check out a game with their many nice TVs or just hang for a happy hour beer. They're burgers are really good.
Waypoint Public has been recognized as one of the Best New Beer Restaurants in the U.S. by Draft Magazine, and has been named San Diego’s Best Beer Restaurant by West Coaster. They showcase a lineup of 100 bottled craft beers from all over the world. Waypoint Public also offers great food on its seasonal menu, which includes its famous Po’ Boy tacos with fried oysters, Carlsbad black mussels and slow cooked pork belly, and the Waypoint Public burger topped with pulled pork and a fried egg. You can enjoy their meals ans drinks in the Bear Den, which is also available for special events.
Great food, good location, nice bar, TVs everywhere, unlimited fountain refills, good old-fashioned plastic straws that don't change the taste of your drink...what's not to love here? I particularly like the open air bar-style seating along the interior perimeter.
With 3 small kids there aren't a lot of restaurants that can cater to both my wants and my kids. This place totally does. Best family friendly dining spot in SD by far.
Amazing. Great food. Great beer selections. Creative craft cocktail menu. A great place to go for a brunch/lunch. The menu offers something for everyone. Also a very floor plan that offers many entertaining views for people watching.
Creative, delicious food and great drinks. The breakfast menu was incredible with moderate prices. All the food at our table was super. The waitress even brought out more Verde sauce and Pico de Gallo on request. The beer selection is exceptional. (What? Beer for breakfast? Yes! Just finished a charity walk in Balboa Park and I wasn't driving) I can't say enough good things about their beer menu, and they will serve half pours.
Food here is amazing. Huge amounts and friendly stuff. First time I visited I didnt enjoyed because I wanted to be fancy and healthy (caliboy standard poser) and order something with tons of veggies. But every next time I visited I loved my meal. The cinnamon roll is amazing, they have lots of veggie options and the place is very charming. Follow your heart when ordering. It's totally worth it.
I used to live in the neighborhood and had a couple of hours to kill. Great service, great beer selection. Had the BLT deviled eggs that were delicious. Best part is that I accidentally left my credit card, and then had to leave town. When I called back they cheerfully offered to pop it in the mail for me - nice folks!
The prices may seem a little intimidating at first but when you finally receive your plate you will not be disappointed! I recommend the WP Sausage Scramble and the Chicken Salad Club for sure. Also, the beer selection is out of this world and these super chill employees really know their stuff.
Awesome place to take the kids. They have a fenced off area indoors with a bunch of toys for the little ones, and had a big screen showing of Toy Story going (albeit without sound, but my 2 y.o. didn't care). Food was delicious and fresh.
Talk about a great bar! They bring in the outside atmosphere of North Park and neighborhood to the quaintly modern brewery! When either Stephanie or Daniel take care of you at the bar trust me you will have a great drink prepared for you! Tell em what you like and they'll direct you to what fits you.
Pros. Waypoint burger was top 3 burgers I've ever had. I was very impressed. Pretzel bites and deviled eggs were ridiculously tasty. Fish and chips were very crisp and had a unique tarter sauce. Grilled cheese was fancier than I imagined and was paired with a really good tomato soup. Kids play area was a great added bonus. Cons. Waaay way way too loud. I couldn't hear my wife from across the small table. Other con, which was small, but there are two tvs right above the kids play area. Most of the kids I saw zombied out staring at the tvs instead of playing. Also, my table was not right next to the play area. Was within sight if I leaned backwards. Had to walk over several times to check on them. However, the cons were minor in my opinion. The food was well worth it. I'd probably stop in for a lunch meal in the future, as it would likely be not as loud or crowded. Highly recommend and will come back in the future. Amazing food.
Can't say enough great things! We had a large group with a couple of kids and they accommodated us perfectly. The kiddos had a blast in their play area, we enjoyed great food and drinks. The service was wonderful!
Their customer service was OUTSTANDING. Bartenders were very knowledgeable about what they were serving and answered all the questions i had in regards to beers. If you ask for water they'll serve it in a really nice and hip container with cucumbers inside. I'm definitely coming back again soon.
Sit at the bar if Adam is working! Fun, thoughtful menu. I generally don't like sweet food, read a food description w a stuffed plum....but the Devil on Horseback was a great recommendation. It's so well balanced and tasty. It was a great example of why you should step out of your comfort zone ever once and a while! Adam was such a great resource for beer, food and everything else we threw at him.
Had a work outing for fun that consisted of a Mario Cart tournament. I lost early, but the bear room was set up great for a private group experience. Special menus and dedicated server. Great job! Can't wait to do it again!
Casual and airy neighborhood place. It is open to the outside and has a very relaxed feel. Customer service was a plus and food was tasty! It's definitely a place to come to for a drink and a burger. Prices were average and cucumber water comes in a cute glass jug for each table:) Would definitely go again!
Lunch, or dinner doesn't matter....you can't go wrong. Beers, mixed drink, wine selection is delightfully quench worthy. From the pork belly, Mac n cheese, to the wings, it's all good! Perfect if you want a smaller place to watch a game at the bar too. Bartenders and all staff are impeccable! Been coming here for years, love this place.
The food was a bit pricy for breakfast, but incredibly delicious and well worth the cost. Every item on the menu looked like a standout. I had a tough time ordering simply because it all looked so good. Everyone on our party was impressed by their dishes and the servers were great, even when dealing with a huge party accompanied by their toddlers and infants.
Great atmosphere! Amazing bartenders! One of THE BEST Old Fashioneds I've ever had! Make sure you get the bartenders version of it! My group and I came here to unwind after a few weeks of some military training. We had a great time. Highly recommended. The area also has great restaurants and karaoke nearby!
The best place in town to eat with your kids! I found this place on a list of kid friendly places to eat in San Diego, and we couldn’t recommend it enough. They have a designated kids area with toys, books, TVs, and you can sit nearby where you can see your kid but also eat and have a beer and relax. They had good options on their menu for the whole family, and a good selection of local beers. Awesome spot!!
Top notch restaurant and bar that has room for kids. The burgers and fish and chips are top notch. Lots of great beers on tap. Bring you kids to play and make friends-have a beer while doing it. Can't say enough great thing about this place and it's staff. They also have a big back room that's awesome for private parties!
Had a great time here for a makeshift birthday gathering a couple of weekends ago. The staff is excellent. They were very accommodating and frequently checked-up on us. The beer selection is extraordinary and the food was top-notch. I don't believe anyone left anything on their plates.
If you love good beer and food this place is great. If you love good beer and are a parent, this place is a godsend! I'm here with my toddler so often the bartenders have his drink (ice on the rocks, extra ice) ready before we sit down. Really good brunch on the weekends--we came for both mothers' and fathers' day.
Had a great experience here. The kids play area is a nice touch. Staff was very friendly and understanding of a family dining with two toddlers. Food was very tasty, lots of vegetarian options, though not many vegan options.
There aren't that many places that are a sure thing when you have little kids in tow. Waypoint is excellent for families with kids. The restaurant has a nice little play area for kids and more importantly, the staff seemed so ready for kids. There were plenty of other parents with little ones there when I was there and that made it a great experience. We'll definitely be back.
Burgers here are the best in San Diego. We're talking good, dinner-sized burgers, not fast-food. My husband and I moved here from Chicago, where the burger selection was awesome across the city - we had half a dozen favorite burger places when we lived there. San Diego? Not so much. We've tried a bunch of other burgers in SD and always come back to Waypoint. The fries are delicious and come hot and crispy (we ask for garlic aioli for dipping). There's always a good variety of local brews on tap. Family/kid friendly: my 10 and 12 year old nieces each ate full size burgers (not kids menu) and wanted to go back the next day for lunch. We always bring our out of town guests here. 10/10 would recommend.
Great for kids! They were very accommodating for our party, made room for a stroller and they have a kids play area off to the side. Had a large group for a friend's birthday and they split the check easily for us.
Got the pork belly and mussels and had a beer while watching the kids in the play area. Food was delicious and the kids had a blast. Kids had the kids hamburger plates which I thought tasted great and were nice small portions. My kids thought the cheese looked a little different but I convinced them to try them. The play area was approximately 15' x 10' enclosed area with two gates, big pillows, lots of books and mega blocks. It had a nice soft carpet pad covered with astro turf. The kids loved it.
Excellent gastropub with great selection of beer, as well as fantastic for and craft cocktails. They are also very family friendly with a dedicated pay area for kids with kids shows playing. This place strikes a great balance in serving as the neighborhood pub and go-to dining option. Can't recommend Waypoint Public highly enough - jewel of the neighborhood.
A WOW restaurant. Food was amazing, live music, drink and food specials, oh did I mention, kids zone?! We didn't see our kids except for eating time, which is rare for us. My personal favorite, the chicken wings in buffalo sauce. They were cooked perfectly.
Great food and service! Went to Waypoint after the zoo with my wife and 2 year old. Staff was very friendly and they have a great play area inside for the kids. Food was very good and was made by scratch. Good beer selection. I'd recommend coming here whether you have a kid or not.
Went for Brunch this morning. We went early so it was perfect to get in, get seated and have a drink in front of us very quickly. To start we had the pretzel bites, they were awesome. My wife ordered the cinnamon roll and it was not only HUGE, but it was very tasty. For our brunch selections: friend had Wild Boar Sloppy Joe. He loved it. Wife had Veggie scramble, loved it. I had been in Las Vegas last week and had a very mediocre burger at Gordon Ramsey Burger, so I was looking for a good burger. Went with the Smokehouse Burger and it was literally the BEST BURGER I've had in a few years! So overall it was a great Brunch. Enjoyed the openness of the space and being able to people watch and just seeing the hustle & bustle of the area. We'll definitely be back for a visit.
Great food and a large selection of local craft beers. It's a bit pricey, but not overly pricy for North Park. Also, and this is key, it is kid friendly. There is a kids play area off to the side where kids can have fun and adults can still hear each other. Food is upscale comfort food, and everything I tried was delicious!
Amazingly family friendly, delicious food, vegetarian friendly, and willing to put our team on the big screen. We were here in a busy night and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, some of the best advice we've gotten in SD EVER. From the host to our server and random other employees, all seemed genuinely happy to see us and get us our food. Came for the enclosed kid play area, but will return for everything else too!
Great place for families. There is an indoor play area for the kiddies. The food was amazing. My wife had the Ricotta Gnocchi and I had the Coffee rubbed Tri Tip. The rest of the menu also looked great, especially their weekend brunch. Great selection of local craft beer and wine. Remember to save room for desert: bread pudding and homemade ice sandwiches
The play area for the kids is the best idea ever. The food flavors aren't bad, a nice mix of tastes. Worst thing is the amount of flies that can enter because of the setting and open windows. Oh, and the kids mac and cheese is made with rotini noodles, which was an undesirable change for one of our kids. She ate it nonetheless. Great service. Staff was very polite and accommodating.
Love the menu, the location, and the hours of this place. It is definitely comfort food and not for the light of heart. They make some delicious brunch dishes. This place is family friendly, as well as good for groups. I do miss their caramelized onion grilled cheese sandwich with carrot soup, hopefully they'll bring it back in the fall? It was the perfect combination. Save room for dessert!
We went at 12:45 on a Sunday. The place was busy, but certainly a reservation was not needed. The food was good, but very salty. Based on other reviews I thought they had a large menu, however its average sized with burgers, egg plates (with scrambled, omelettes and other eggs), typical morning/brunch items like biscuits and gravey and poached eggs. They also have a standard kids menu. The drinks were great. My hubs said theirs was the best bloody Mary he has had. Our server was very nice. The service was very slow. But, we had our drinks, so it was ok. Wed go back, but it wasn't quite all the hype. Also, the crowd was on the younger side. Very trendy.
Great food, not cheap but not too expensive. Excellent beer list. Can do some good people watching from the outer facing tables. I did have a lot of flies buzzing around my food which sucked
Supposedly kids friendly, even have a padded playground. But could get hot, and there were flies. Nice tap choices, good brunch menu. French toast was good.
Great Gastropub... They always have a very good selection of beers and curated by someone with good knowledge. I had to -1 star because they got rid of the mussels and pork belly! That used to have a thing called s'mores Alaska on the dessert menu as well... Seems like they continually get rid of the best things on the menu.
Waypoint is very close to my house and convenient! I really enjoy eating the mussels and pork belly dish that they serve, and I don't know why but everytime I go I must have some shishito peppers! They truly are delicious. The staff is very good at helping you pair a beer with your food, and I've always liked what I've been suggested.
Great place to grab a beer. Staff is friendly and efficient. Not a lot of parking nearby unless you park in the public lot and pay 5 dollars. For being a pub, this is a kid friendly plsce, as they have a play area on one side of the restaurant.
Loved this place the first two times I went and originally would have rated it 5 stars, but this past weekend, the burgers were overly greasy, so knocked it down for inconsistency. Also loved the poutine here, but they stopped offering it. Good place still for beers and pretty decent food! Just not worth the hassle for me for parking and waiting.
Always a good time and a nice atmosphere. Seems like prices have gone up though, and cocktails are $10 and up and are about 2oz. 3 beers, a burger, and a side of deviled eggs came to $53 before tip. I think we will try to make happy hour next time.
A very kid friendly restaurant: there is a fenced in play area with books, toys, and cushions. The staff is amazingly patient and kind and the food is pretty good too (my complaint would be that some of the sandwiches are so tall that they are difficult to bite into, which is not a bad complaint at all). Occasionally, there are unsupervised children who are a little rowdy in the play area, but I am so grateful that there is a place for my mom friends and I to meet for lunch that provides a safe and fun place for our littles.
very good- but as I drink red wine(almost) exclusively, I cannot rate beer by any stretch of the imagination- But I enjoyed the tasty bar food & my date appreciated the non-alcoholic drink selections- they were refreshing , varied & delicious. Oh & my German Shepherd enjoyed the k9 loving , roomy dining room.
Pretty noisy experience which an make for a rough time for those of us that are hard of hearing. Brunch is amazing though. I usually get the basic egg breakfast with a pineapple mimosa. The wife opts for a normal mimosa and the BALTA sandwich. Always add a fried egg to go with the fried green tomatoes and avacado. I really like that they have a play area for the kiddos as well. That can sometimes add to the volume, but it makes it a very nice neighborhood restaurant. That's a nice gesture for the community as a whole.
Went during the heat wave. Plagued by flies and no a.c. The play area is great if you are seated next it it. The brunch items were really tasty. I'd recommend the chicken biscuit sandwich or corner beef and hash. Loved the Sangria too
Great dinner, service and atmosphere. They've got a wide selection of brews, wines and even a place for the kiddies to play indoors. Whaaaat? Dinner and an in house play place for well behaved little humans? So nice. Try the curried cauliflower or the freaking delicious burger -- you can't get much better than beef, pulled pork and an over easy egg on brioche.
Had the lamb burger which was phenomenal. The secret was really cool about me not picking a drink until best this time over. Wasn't short busy either for a Saturday afternoon around 330. They even had a kids play area and story time on Tuesdays which were messy check out down the line. Beer selection could be better but overall a nice spot in North Park
You must make a reservation if you plan to go there, it is small and crowded- this is the only reason for the 4 stars. BUT it is family friend restaurant with Exquisite food and exceptionally great customer service. It is very clean and nice farmhouse decor, with a small play area for small kids. I will definitely will eat there again but will make sure to have reservations. Highly recommended if you plan in advance to eat there.
Buzzy atmosphere with average eats. Happy Hour beer list is pretty limited (only 4 beers) but pricing was good. No food on their happy hour menu which was disappointing. Pretzel bites and fried green tomatoes were good, wings were just ok. Brussels Sprout salad was good-added chicken but was unnecessary (chicken was dry and flavorless) as the salad is huge-great for sharing. Kids area was sparse but had TVs and a few toys/books.
First time visiting this establishment was for a private party which was held in a back room of the building. The wings and burger provided were very tasty and always kept replenished by their staff. Our watress was great always keeping the drinks flowing and quite knowledgeable of the spirits on the sizable menu. This place seemed like a great hangout for families with small children with a large play area.
Small menu (which is not a bad thing at all), big flavors. We ordered pesto devil eggs, Jamaican hand pies, tri tip, and mussels with braised pork belly. All were very delicious. It was loud in the restaurant making it hard to have conversation. It was also hard to see your friends if your seats facing out as it was way brighter outside.
They have a really great beer list that's always changing. Lots of unique craft beer including sours and mead if that's your thing. The food is awesome and not too expensive. The most important part of this bar, it seems, is the kid corner. They are very parent friendly, and word is getting around so there's always a ton of kids running around.
Well, the place looked great. Menu had items I was looking forward to trying. But our experience wasn't the best. Showed up at 330 on a Saturday afternoon, looking for a late lunch. It was pretty crowded, lots of larger groups. A hostess welcomed us, told us to wait for her to come back. 5 minutes later someone else welcomed us, told us to wait. Almost 15 minutes from first walking in, we were told it'd be a 45 minute wait for a table for 3. And there were probably another 10 or so ppl waiting for tables or a hostess to talk to be that point. I didn't think to make a reservation at 330 on a Saturday. But lesson learned. Wish the experience had been better, more organized. It's still on my list to try, eventually. Won't rush back tho.
We had good service, but I cant justify spending $14-17 on a burger a la carte. The burger was good, but not worth the money. I know my taste is not that sophisticated and I cannot justify their price points.
I stopped in around 1200 because it was on my way and I was a bit hungry. Had the deviled eggs and cocoa, which were good but not spectacular. The service took a long time, and I felt the bartenders were more interested in their conversation than serving me. Mind, there were maybe 4 customers in the bar. Place is very pretty, though.
I would only be back here again for drinks and to hang out since I like where it is located. The food is typical bar/gastropub items. Ordered the Hot Chicken Sando and it was overwhelmingly seasoned - the chicken itself was cooked well. The Grilled Cheese Dip - the dip is what makes this order have great flavor, but is what it is. I went around 6pm on a Monday when they have happy hour all day...the food took a touch long to come out in my opinion, especially since there were only about 4 small parties.
The menu is diverse, the beer choices are aplenty, and the atmosphere is great, but the food just wasn't that great. Everyone in our party got something different, but none of us were super impressed. I did appreciate that they offer items in a wide price range ($10-$30 from what I remember) and type of food. Kind of a jack of all trades, master of none type of place.
This place is hopping! I've been intending to try out Waypoint Public for quite some time now, and when CityBeat had them on their list of places participating in Burger Week, I decided it was my chance! We showed up Sunday at noon without a reservation and had to wait 50 minutes for a table, so I was about to gnaw my arm off, I was so hungry! For an extra $5, you could add fries with their beer cheese sauce to the Burger Week burger. The burger was -- fine. Nothing to write home about. Nothing terrible. The fries they gave me were probably the equivalent of half a potato, served with a small ramekin of the cheese sauce. NOT worth an extra $5. Sorry, Waypoint. I was not impressed and don't expect to return.
On the one hand, the food is very good and their beer selection is great. They also have a wonderful back room where they hold a family movie evening on Tuesdays and also have a play area for kids. On the other hand, when it's busy like it is on family night, the wait for food can easily be over an hour. I waited for almost 2 hours to get our food. The kids were starving and getting whiny. The wait staff is very friendly, but they really need to have more staff and cooks on days they suspect will be busy. I'll return but will make sure to get there a little early to beat the crowds all ordering at once.
Good selection of beer on tap but prices are a little steep. We had dinner, ribs were good but veggies didn't taste fresh and or were over cooked. We got the hummus appetizer with carrots and cucumber that looked like it was sliced a few days ago, kind of suprised they would even serve it looking all dried out and not fresh. We also got tri tip ordered medium, came out a little more than that, no big deal but it was also kind of dry. Overall I wasn't really impressed with the food, especially with those prices, I expected more effort. Nobody asked how the food was or even noticed we left... no thanks for coming or good night.. whatever. I may stop in for a beer in the future if dragged here by a friend but I won't be ordering more than a basic app from here. Three stars because it's a nice looking place and is kid friendly, service was good.
Decent food, not great. Overpriced, probably because it's kid friendly. Really nice staff, so that's a bonus. None of the starters are particularly mind- blowing, but the pretzel bites are pretty tasty. The burgers are all generally pretty good, so pick whichever one seems most your style and you will probably be fine with it. Not the best, not the worst.
Overpriced. I get that the atmosphere and overall presentation is great, but if the food quality and cost don't match up then it's just reaching for something. Beers are extensive but $1-$3 dollars overpriced. Go to the local breweries instead and they're $5 for a 16oz pint. Not $10 for a 10oz pour. The food, while good, is also overpriced. I ordered swordfish tortellini with clams, and assumed it was a swordfish fillet(for $18). I was wrong. It was 6 pieces of tortellini with 6 clams and a salad in the middle. 6 pieces of tortellini stuff with a tiny bit of swordfish? For $18? That's an appetizer my friends.
The waitress was unfriendly. The food was way overpriced. I had a steak salad and it had to go back two times before the third one was right and then the piece of steak was super small. Even the waitress commented the first time i received salad as steak was nearly raw and she commented the third time which I did sadly eat. She even noticed it was small but at that point the rest of the table had eaten and they were already moving on to other things. I know it wasn't just me since the other four people at the table were rather surprised at my meal and at one of the others meals which was sent back once until they got it right. I think they're just too busy and may need either extra cooks or servers or something in the nature of quality control. Even some of the employees at the business next door have commented that it's way too overpriced for what you get.
Super disappointed. Used to come here all the time. Now the menu is as original as Red Robin's menu in the 90s. It used to be amazing but now they serve Nashville Hot Sandwiches that are sweeter than they are spicy. We won't be back.
We had a reservation at 7, but when we arrived were told they were waiting for a party to leave and it would be about ten minutes.(For a Friday night, it was actually not busy and there weren't any guests waiting when we walked in.) Totally fine, ended up at the bar to go ahead and grab a drink. As we were waiting, there were three open tables that just needed to be cleaned off. We eyed several employees not doing anything, particularly the hostess who was just speaking to another waitress. When approached (now 7:20), she said she was just waiting to clear tables. Waited another 5 minutes for her to finish her conversation and clear the table for us. Food was bland and overpriced. Chili came out cold, but after waiting nearly 60 minutes to be seated and served, wasn't worth the effort sending back. Salad had no color or any real flavor other than the brussel sprouts. Beer selection was good and priced just like most places in San Diego. Recommend only a visit for drinks, skip the food and stick to the bar.
Came here with a few friends for brunch on a Saturday morning. We were seated right away which was pleasant. The staff was friendly, although not very efficient. The server really struggled getting our order correct, i.e. not bringing waters when we asked or spilling my friend's lime drink on me - great. The food was very OK. I got the biscuits and gravy and they came out cold. Also, the bloody mary was no good. The final bill for my meal was pretty overpriced. I'd come here only to have a beer and sit at the bar.
Great bartenders. But it was Friday happy hour and I swear there were more children there than people over 21. It's like a day care for families who want to drink. I guess they found their niche, but a bunch of kids running around a bar is loud and annoying.
I live very close to Waypoint and pass by every day, and it is always busy. I met friends for a quick bite early on a Friday night. It was a last minute choice for us because it was so close to home. Open garage doors, cement floors and loud background music made it difficult to hear. We were served by 3 different people, and had to continually try to get any employee's attention. My Cobb salad was good, but I will not be returning.
Pretty mediocre food/nice beer selection. We ordered starters meatballs, octopus salad, and blood sausage and a waypoint burger. Burger was really disappointing. It tasted like it was microwaved. The starters tasted better but not by much considering the price point for a bite or two. Nice beer selection and a nice crowd don't make up for mediocre overpriced food
It was okay. We were a little offended by them charging $8.50 for a pint of local pilsner. (Ouch.) We're not from around here...maybe those are local prices??? We came for the kids indoor play area, which was nice, although dirty, but that's to be expected. Food was okay, but really expensive: $15 for a small grilled cheese. It was really LOUD inside too. Service was okay. (Their default tip levels are 25%, 20%, and 18%, which is a bit presumptive for mediocre service.) Wouldn't recommend it, and not sure why all the rave reviews.
This place just isn't for me. The menu is highly artesian, I like simple and well made food, so having to check Google to figure out whats on the burgers is a big turn off for me. I tried to order off of the kids menu, but I was told that it was not allowed. That I think bugged me the most. So I just wont go back.
