Really cool vibe, lots of people, but not too loud. Many playing board games!
I came here on St. Patty's day with my buddy, and man was it a good choice. The beer flows like wine in here, the bartender kept it coming, and because I helped him change some of the toilet paper in the bathroom, he gave me Guinness on him. On top of that, I met a bunch of interesting people including an old time classic Irish guy from Boston and a few others. There was also free corned beef hash and potatoes in the back. Unfortunately I put it off for too long and when I went to get some it was already gone. Still a good bar though.
Was originally going to the Calder-picasso event at the de young, but got there late. Ended up at this awesome bar! If I remember correctly, 2nd oldest contiguously run SF bar. Super friendly and they did it up right with the safety. Get out, enjoy the weather, grab a drink at a neighborhood bar!
Awesome spot for a drink! Cool, old school vibe with a separate room in the back for darts. Great bartenders who know how to make all the concoctions. Go and enjoy! 🙂
Neighborhood pub where the patrons are as friendly as the excellent bartenders. Afternoons are usually quiet and relaxing, evenings are more sociable.
This is a gem 😊 Very cozy place hidden away from where tourists would normally go at the evening. Good selection of beer and great ambience. Really feels like a local bar.
Oldest bar in town. Comfy mismatched furniture to lounge on and games to play. There's a dart area in back with two boards where you can shoot for free. Low key place with a chill crowd of regulars and new faces as well. Right across from GG park
This is the BEST bar in the area. It's very cozy and towny, a classic and comfortable vibe. Seating is a tight squeeze but it promotes meeting others which I enjoy. No food available but they do allow outside food. Lots of board games available to play, and they have dart boards in the back. Love this place.
It's still my favorite bar north of the taraval line. Been going to this place for like almost 20 years now. They still have board games there but not as many as I remember. The crowd has died somewhat, but the neighborhood regulars pretty much keep the place up and open. Random tables and chairs strewn about as usual. The bartender offered us a custom drink because he recognized one of us. It was pretty good. Pretty much a place to chill after work or hang out with friends without the hustle and bustle of the city. If you want more noise go to 9th and Irving. This is mostly a locals spot.
I think either the oldest or 2nd oldest bar in SF (maybe in California?). Great bar. A true classic. I have been here a hundred times in the last 20 years. They have been open for 130 years now. Cheers to 130 more.
This place is awesome, if you're looking for an old-timey irish bar in SF? This is the only place to be. It's over 100 years old. The decor is exactly what you expect it to be. The prices are good but you're only here for the ambiance and people really. They also have board games and tons of seating.
Probably one of the coziest bars in the whole city.
Blown away by ambience, plenty beer on tap to choose from. Music was not to loud and not to quiet. Sitting is a mix of bar stools, wooden chairs and nice lounges. There is a back room with games. Perfect place to start or end your date.
Little Shamrock is the perfect little slice of Ireland in all its glory in the big city of San Francisco. Lovely pub and kind bartenders. The ambience is great, they have a lot of fun games for you to enjoy. Great options for drinks as well. Loved the vibe and gonna go again soon
It is another institution here in SF. Serving since 1893 which makes it second oldest bar in the city after The Saloon in North Beach. Bar has changed ownership three times until today. You can play all kind of board games, pool & dart. Bathroom is long as well:))
This is a Historic Lounge. Its a second oldest Lounge in SF since 1893. I didn't know about it when me and my friends visited it for the first time few years back. During our first visit we just randomly found this place as it was opened till late. It has couches and was very cozy so we really liked this place. After long time we recalled this place and wanted to go again. We tried searching it but couldn't find. They take cash so there wasn't any credit card transaction to find the name of this place. I tried searching lounges and bars on google but this place name never showed up. Then after few years I decided to drive to SF and search this place. I drove by all near by streets but couldn't find and was disappointed. Then finally I went to one restaurant (from where we searched this lounge previously) and yelped for lounges. I looked at all the nearby lounge pictures and in one of them I saw couches. So I suspected that it should be that lounge only. I drove there and as soon as I entered I was so happy to finally found it. I immediately ordered Gimlet. They have the best Gimlet. I sat on the couch and searched about this place. I found out that its the 2nd oldest lounge in SF since 1893. There was a huge earthquake in 1906 and this place survived it. There was one clock in this lounge which stopped ticking in that earthquake. They still have that clock. Its really awesome lounge and reasonable price. Its cash only and they have atm inside.
Super kind folks. Good beer selection
Great staff, nice Irish style beers and very reasonable price! Cash only and no food service here.
Little shamrock has adapted to this new normal with a food pop-up and take away drinks, adorably titled a Godega. Our fav bartender Kenny was there and helpful in breaking down the options - stromboli and choco chip cookies seem to be the biggest hits!
Great chill vibe and atmosphere. Cash Only
Awesome Pub near the gardens. Bartender repping Cleveland Ohio was a huge plus! OH! Go Browns!

Great chill vibe and atmosphere. Cash Only
Our favorite bar in the Inner Sunset. Not fancy but great drinks and lots of local people hanging out and having fun. In the back there is a dart room. Highly recommended. Good prices and service.
This is where the artists hang out. Cash only, but the have an ATM in the back. Classic Irish bartending. Lots of TVs for sports watching, but no sound. Cubbie rooms for groups
Fun time. Loved the dart room in the back where you could even connect to the sound system and place your own music. Cash only though! ATM on site. But bring cash if you dont want to pay fees. Its a gem!
Went here for the first time last night and the VIBES WERE GOOD. The bartender Dylan really makes you feel at home. Can't wait to go back !
Best bar in the city. Every single bartender is 🔥, solid tap selection, affordable prices.
It was a few days before St. PATTYS Day! The place was busy, and a nice crowd it was! Nice variety of drinks,ect.... A very nice Backgammon table to play on. The service was good, and the bartender was great! It was a very fun evening ,ending up there after going to The "Night Life" at the Academy of Science !! We will definetly return! We didn't try any food, bit will take notice when we return!

Since visiting San Francisco, I've been looking for a proper "American Pub". This is it. Cozy, cool. Chilled music. Sports on TV, Darts and a wide assortment of beers. Great stuff :D Only criticism is 'Cash Only' policy.
This is one of the best bars in San Francisco hands down. Incredible cocktails. Good music, friendly staff and clientele, only complaint is there does not seem to be a bar dog or cat. Should be.
Cozy hole in the wall with low priced drinks. They don't serve food, but you can bring in your own. They sell some bags of chips and nuts at the bar if you just need something salty to nibble on.
This place is cozy and relaxed, and they have tasty Irish coffees. If it's not too crowded, you can grab space on the couches and play games. A gem in the neighborhood!
The bar is spacious and they have couches in the back with coffee table, really comfortable! They have great happy hours and sometimes free hot-dogs (but a friend check that for me so I can't list the hours/days here sorry). They also have board games you can play while drinking, which is awesome!
I dropped by on a rainy afternoon for an Irish coffee, which I had not had before. I should have been warned about the wallop it packs. It was delicious when I sipped it. It is across the street from the San Francisco Botanical Gardens. I thought an event I was attending got rained out, so I stopped by. The lighting is subdued. You can come in alone or in a group. A few groups came in while I was there. There are two backgammon tables, some dartboards in the back, and a few other kinds of seating areas for various kinds of groups as well as the bar itself. It was an enjoyable time.
Decor was cute - I like the idea of all the games that they had there, board games as well as darts and more. Beer selection is awesome! Although, the place got very loud very quickly, which would be tough for a first date if you actually want to speak to the woman you are hanging out with, without yelling ...
Laidback and cool place to get a drink between exploring golden gate park and the many amazing dining options nearby. It's an old establishment and maintains the charm. The cash register is pretty antique :) Note: like many others of its kind, it's cash only but there's apparently an ATM in the back.
Pretty standard Irish Pub with a decent beer and liquor selection, a few flat screens for sports. What sets it apart is that it's been in the neighborhood awhile and has some cozy aged furniture that makes it feel a little like you're having a drink at a friend's place rather than just a carbon copy Irish bar with no character. They have some bar games too if I recall.
Whilst exploring the great city of San Francisco we called by the Little Shamrock for a well deserved refreshment. It was a Sunday afternoon and surprisingly a little quiet, which actually made it a nice spot to relax for a while. The person behind the bar welcomed us warmly and kindly took our drinks orders, making us feel comfortable straight away. We also ordered a packet of crisps, yes, crisps not chips, which was met with a friendly understanding, which we really appreciated considering where we are from. The bar itself has a great selection of drinks, and we noticed a fun little darts area as well as some board games to keep yourself entertained. Overall, a really nice and laid back bar to take a break during a busy day of sightseeing.
Dropped by this bar for the first time today while spending the day with the family. I was craving an Irish coffee so decided to give their making of it a go. Did not disappoint! Love the creaminess mixed with the richness of the coffee. Definitely has a rustic feel to the bar. Born and raised in The Bay and we hangout in this neighborhood a lot but just never went inside before. But now I know the next time we are in the area I will stop by this place to get a great Irish coffee. Also fun watching the games on the TV's as well. The bartender at the time was very friendly. Highly recommend this bar!

One of our classic San Francisco bars, most likely the oldest on the west side of town. Still cash only, still cozy, and still friendly. Great option for after being at the Botanical Gardens in Golden Gate Park.
We visited Little Shamrock on May’ the 21st 2024. Traditional bar, I tried the Irish dark ale, while my son settled for the pale ale.Learned to play pool, where they were two tables. Cost of play is $2. Good ambience. Being a week day, not many folks at the bar.

There are some fun games. The environment was fun, it looks like there were a lot of "local & returning" customers, so it must be good for some people. My experience wasn't that positive given the poor customer service/experience. Cash only. There is an ATM just in case you do not have cash, $3.50 transaction fee
Bartender kicked me off a table because my friends hadn’t shown up yet and she wanted it for her friends. There was no where else to sit so I left. She was crazy mean and said “sorry for ruining your day” as I left…
Blonde bartender was super rude, loud, and had a bad attitude towards us from the very second we entered the bar. Never coming here again. Also, the beer was mediocre at best.
Better bars close by. Bartender was very rude. It's only cash and had only enough cash for 2 drinks. Bartender got mad and called me out loudly on why I didn't tip. Explained to him that I only had so much cash on hand. Almost no one carries cash nowadays. I'd rather go somewhere else where they treat their customers with some respect.
The place is cozy, and they have a decent beer selection. However, one of the bartenders was arrogant and called me out in a very disrespectful and mean way when I didn’t give a tip. Giving or not giving a tip should always be the costumer’s decision even though I understand that bartenders rely heavily on tips. It totally ruined the experience.
Female bartender was really rude. She had a terrible attitude with the guests. My friends said they had seen her acting this way on other occasions. I decided not to get a drink and we all went to Fireside where the bartenders are nice. Any place that treats their customers with disrespect doesn't deserve my business.
Don't come to this place, bartender has a huge ego trip and acts like his customers are a huge burden
