Their Moscow Mule's are everything. Definitely a place to check out when in SF. And yes, it's in the TL district, but its ok.
conveniently located next to osha! the also have Hibiki 30 year old!! I was surprised to find a huge selection of japanese whiskey!!
Loved it! Cool place, great music. I smoke and this place got a smoke room so if I could I'd give it 6 stars:)
Lovely cocktails! Super nice bartenders! Cool looking venue.
Great ambiance & decor. I've had nothing but enjoyable experiences here and plan to keep visiting. It has a good interior.
Wonderful little cocktail bar. Friendly staff and great atmosphere.
Although the venue is in a sketchy neighborhood, it is really worth visiting. Best cocktails in town.
Inventive drinks, inviting atmosphere. Definitely a solid option for a bar if you're in this part of the city.
The County Line mocktails are fantastic. And the custom mocktail Rye Bar made for me (apple, ginger, lemon, habanero) was spectacular.
Great bar, great staff, and a pretty solid vibe. Def come here if you aren't looking for a club scene and genuinely just want a drink with friends.
Free hot dog on Wednesday.
awesome drinks, great spot. bar tenders are really good and friendly. Takes a while for the drinks but that is because they are made from scratch.
Great cocktails made from scratch. Awesome service by the staff. Night cozy atmosphere and outside patio.
Good cocktails and atmosphere with a great selection of Whiskey's. Hand's down my favourite bar in the neighbourhood.
Absolutely amazing food
Great drinks and awesome atmosphere. The bartenders are very attentive to their craft!
Great cocktail bar in tendernob. Nice ambiance which makes for a good date spot. Check it out!
Love this little cozy bar. Will definitely come here again. Decent price drinks for the view.
One of the best cocktail bars in the city. Truly a hidden gem!
Love their craft cocktails. Perfect amount of busy and cool place to hang out.
The drinks here will run you $13 but they're worth it. Really great cocktails and a nice vibe about the place!
Our favorite neighborhood bar!! Shoutout to Dan, the bartender. We have our usual drinks that we always order: Cure-all Old Fashion, Pimm's Cup, and War Bonnet so can't say about all of their other cocktails... but those 3 are THE BOMB. We like coming in early when they just open so it's not too crowded and you get to know all of the lovely, talented bartenders.
I recently had a wonderful experience with Rye's mobile bartender. I'm not a drinker...at all...just don't like the taste of alcohol. BUT I decided to try one of the cocktails that was specially made just for the event I was attending. Holy cow. I wanted to steal the bartender and take him home with me to make me drinks all day everyday! I was extremely impressed!
Great spot. Total gem in the SF Craft Cocktail game. They have the right ice and talent to make seriously well-balanced cocktails. Way less pretentious than other speakeasy style bars. Mad ups to the staff at this place.
I enjoyed the decor and the friendly staff! The drinks are different and deliciousness of flavor. I would recommend the Rye to friends! I gave the place a 5 star for, plenty of seats and quality of drinks that was served each time.
The best staff, they chased me down after I left something in the bar and made sure I got it back. Plus, the cocktails were incredible. So, super friendly staff, they really care about you getting the right drink, and when you do... it's incredible.
A brilliant place to relax and have a few craft cocktails or whiskies/ryes. Like another reviewer said below me, not a dance/party scene but more of a lounge bar, perfect to chill out or catch up with friends.
John & Jason were AMAZING!! I would love to only come when they are there. My family and I stumbled across this bar last night and I’m so happy we did. They close at 1am Thank you Jason & John
You can't say you like cocktails and not love Rye. Gregg has put together a cocktail program here that rivals most. It's innovative, tasty and the space is super cool too. Love this place :)
Cozy space, cool design, tasty cocktails, friendly bartenders, attractive crowd, clean, good for larger groups meeting up, music was ambient and not too loud so we could actually hear each other, and the womens restroom had multiple signs that explained what to do if you were on a date and felt unsafe so A+ for that. I can see this becoming a regular haunt.
Always good for a nice cocktail and a fun time. Some fun whiskies hiding in the racks if you take a minute to dig through ‘em
Still one of our best craft cocktail bars in town. Not pretentious and has plenty of neighbors who hang out.
Fantastic cocktails and a solid selection. The menu is great and I'm always impressed with what they have on it, whether it's old standbys or new things they're trying out.
Interesting menu, good mix of spirits. We enjoyed all the cocktails we ordered. Cute atmosphere, good service.
How did Alice in Wonderland find her rabbit hole? No idea but when I have more that one Basil Gimlet from Rye Bar I also find myself chasing rabbits and talking to playing cards. Now a Tenderloin staple Rye Bar offers proper cocktails that change seasonally.
I love Rye. Its quiet, dark and low key for drinks during the week. They have a good amount of seating and its a great place to come if you want to grab a drink with a small group or a date and actually hear what they have to say. The drinks are delicious and the bartenders are really nice do an amazing job. I had the Mule and it was perfect.
Rye was hosting a guest bartender on the night we went here (a Barr Hill cocktail flight - 3 small drinks for $14). I loved the care that goes into each mini-cocktail. My brother asked the bar tender, Chris, for a “Naked and Famous” and they knew exactly what he was talking about. Like the front patio which is outdoors but sheltered from the smell and mess of the street in that neighborhood. Great classic pre-game spot.
Excellent bar with a very knowledgeable bar staff. If you can conjure it, they can make it. On week nights it's not too busy, but weekends can be pretty slammed. If you're in a rush, probably best to find a dive nearby. However, if you have the time, grab a delicious Mule in real copper or Hendricks martini. Delicious!
The basil gimlet was amazing! And most notably, the service was on point! Friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about all the cocktails. I suggest coming on a weekday to get more attention from the bartenders. Even they recommend to not come on weekends! Each drink takes a few minutes to make, so I could only imagine the chaos when it gets packed!
A hip cocktail bar in SF's Tenderloin neighborhood. A great place to have a small party or get together with friends. Very crowded on Friday and Saturday nights. Great outdoor smoking area in the front with some chairs and tables. Staff is very friendly and the cocktails are unique and tasty.
Came here after Bourbon and Branch and it was so nice to be able to sit down. Great space - big and warehouse-y with exposed brick and a small outside area. The signature cocktail had vanilla and raspberries and was a bad decision because it was pretty gross, but the merchant mule was UNBELIEVABLE (if you like ginger. I do.). Not the kind of place I really love for a weekend night, but would be a great weeknight cocktail spot to catch up with friends or take a date to.
Great place to lounge and have friends for drinks. Not a dance/party scene but a posh lounge scene. There's a fabulous caged patio for smoking that's quaint (8' by 10' space). It's a good thing it's caged as it's in a dodgy part of town. Drinks were great too and bartenders nice/cool.
Fantastic overall! Knowledgeable bartender. Excellent drinks and atmosphere! Must go!
A welcoming bar for anyone looking for some high end cocktails and experiences
Good drinks, weiner wednesday was super fun. Ashley is the bessst!
Great cocktail bar. It was themed with "The Shining" for Halloween when we visited. We got the Tony Negroni and Elevator of Blood. Both drinks looked and tasted great. The bartenders were wearing red blazers with REDRUM pins, which added to the ambience. Highly recommended for having a unique cocktail environment!
Great bar with well balanced drinks. I highly recommend The Cobra Effect, a deceptively unassuming drink made with a high proof whiskey and topped with egg white foam. Extra points for the warm atmosphere and decor of wood, glass, and brick.
OUT-STANDING! If you’re crazy about bourbon, you can skip the rest of the bars in SF. The prices are very reasonable on the best bottles of whiskey you’ve probably not tried yet. The staff behind the bar are knowledgeable and raise the bar on service. The food comes from a neighboring restaurant, but the burgers were shockingly good! This seems to be the place to find the “who’s who” of spirits in SF. As much as I hate to spoil it, like a honey hole of allocates bourbon, this bar is worth shouting from the pages of Google. My only gripe is that they don’t have a location in KC, c’mon! Thank you Phil and team for the hospitality and conversation.
What an awesome bar! The staff really cares about the place and is passionate about great service. Right now it’s October so the bar is Halloween themed as The Shining. So freaking great. They crushed it! My drink was amazing and the guys at the bar were so great and had some good insight on the town and where to go! Thanks guys!
This is practically my home bar. Rated one of the best bars in SF for many a good reason. Personal service in a fun atmosphere with a nigh perfect rotating cocktail program. All of your favorite classic cocktail mainstays with a subtitle twist. And the bar staff can go off book at a moments notice but you should remember to tip them well for the custom selections. A+ 10/10 etc etc.
Came here with a group of 20 on a Tuesday. They reserves a table for us. There are two sections to this place. One has the bar and the other has more seating and a semi open area. The cocktails selection is good and delish. I ordered a drink called Toki something that had an orchid garnish. Delish. The second drink was a Pimm's Cup. The staff was helpful in recommending a restaurant across the street where we ordered burgers (meat and veggie), loaded fries and tater tots since they don't serve food.
Okay this has got to be one of my favorite bars in the city now! Super cute. Fantastic bartenders. Classy cocktails. There's tons of great restaurants around the area that will make Rye the most natural choice for post-dinner aperitifs. I walked in to meet a few friends and was in awe of the pretty lights and sexy mood. There is a variety of seating at the bar and not. There's even an outdoor patio section.
Great cocktails served by an awesome crew Give it a year before they become a conglomerate and take over Walmart in the Fortune 500 list.
Fondue and desserts. Service was terrific, no crowd,no waiting. What more can you ask for presentation was great.
Chill little spot with a free pool table. Freshest cocktails you will ever have! Made with vegetables and fruits that taste like they've been picked right off the vine.
Excellent specialty cocktails, short lines and plenty of seating (including an outdoor area). Come here when you can't deal with the crowds at Bourbon and Branch or Rickhouse.
Good drink choices. Not the best part of town. Clean. Staff was friendly to me but not others in my party.
Came for a quiet drink before dinner: great drinks, fun bar staff. Also it's just a beautiful space for drinking whiskey in.
Cool place, edgy interior and good drinks. Music is a bit too loud and there could be more light, but overall great place to have drinks.
Pretty good service and they make good cocktails. There's a decent amount of seating for groups too.
Nice place and good cocktails. Definitely worth having on your bar list!
The bartenders were very knowledgeable and patient, taking the time to guide me to a Japanese whiskey I hadn't tried before, and that I liked.
Rye's La Lambada is one of my favorite cocktails. Just an excellent mixture of flavors. The other cocktails I've had there were very good, but I kept going back to my classic
Very cute cocktail bar with a "smoking" patio (if you want to call it that...). The ambiance is very romantic, dimly lit and perfect for a date. They have a pool table in the back too. Fun tip: this is one of the very few places I could find that make the Moscow Mule in an actual copper cup. Since these have been stolen one too many times, you will have to trade your ID for their copper cup, but it's so worth it! A Moscow Mule isn't a true one without that copper!
Came a few Mondays ago on a second date, and while the date ended poorly (my fault, of course), I finally got to try Rye, and it was fantastic! I forget what exactly my date ordered, but both that and my Bank Heist Swizzle were tasty drinks, albeit a bit on the sweeter and lighter side - or so I thought, because I did start feeling just a little something towards the end of my cocktail: in other words, the bartenders here do a pretty good job of masking the alcohol in the drinks, which is great for those who don't actually like alcohol that tastes like, well, alcohol. The space itself has kind of a chic, modern, industrial look to it. Pretty nice, especially on a Monday, when the place isn't crowded. ***Accessibility Info*** Venue - A pretty large space with an open floor plan, albeit on two separate levels, so only one of them (the main level, from the entrance) is actually accessible. Bathroom - Fortunately, they have two sets of bathrooms, one per level. I didn't actually check them out, but I suspect they were accessible as well.
Just went to a terrarium making google event at a store in the mission. Rye supplied a mobile bartender who made terrarium inspired drinks! My favorite had layers of chopped fruit and a ginger foam. It was so delicious and creative. Can't wait to check out their space.
This place was a pretty great find for us LA natives. We visited on a Sunday night, which was a bit slower than most nights I imagine. The drinks were tasty and the service was fast and friendly. We had a nice cucumber cocktail, Spring g Garden I think it was called. I would love to come back on a different night and see what the SF nightlife is all about.
Rye Bar is one of the best bars in the Tenderloin. The bartenders there know what they are doing and the drinks are delicious, strong, and won't cost an arm and a leg. On some days, there will be food vendors inside selling anything from tacos to egg sandwiches but somehow no matter what the food is, it always seems to go well with my drink. The bar is fairly big and has enough space to house a large group, provided you get there early enough. I think it's a great place to gather some friends, grab some drinks, and begin the weekend.
This place was pretty cool. Quiet and not many people there, but I was there on a Sunday night to be fair. I had the Rye Manhattan Cure All (or something like that). The house infused cinnamon whiskey was awesome and made for a great drink. My wife had a spritzer of some kind that was also super refreshing. Was perfect for a night cap, so exactly what I was looking for.
Love this place. Great simple modern decor, good music and great drinks! Their cocktails are really good. It's half inside lounge half an inside outside patio. It can get pretty busy though so you might have to stand a while before snapping a chair at the bar.
Good drinks and like the table area on the side, but kind of a deserted atmosphere. Also, tables are so low and far apart that its hard to hear person across from you...
Walked in here on a Saturday night. Scored a table but it was way too loud to chat over drinks. Cocktails are worth trying.
Tasty and creative, but they over dilute & under pour. Rye looks a lot like a quality cocktail bar, and the bartenders can talk the talk, but if you pay attention, you'll notice that they shake your drinks a bit longer than usual and they underpour the liquor. The result is still a tasty drink of the correct volume, just a little watered down and lacking body. You may also find that whereas three drinks is quite enough some places, here you can have 4 or 5 and only be approaching a buzz. No doubt this is appreciated by the management, but probably less so by patrons expecting a drink they've had elsewhere to be as good. I'd expect their liquor distributors are less than thrilled as well.
Good jokes 21-50 y.o. patron base smoking room. I met people from Brisbane to Numb here. High conversation potential, and being a single man, talk to lots of single women. Cocktails not so much, but good selection of Beer. Worth checking out!
Sorry, Rye...but I came in last week in the middle of the week, and you clearly couldn't care less. I think it was a Wednesday evening, maybe about 7pm - the bar was busy, but not crushed. I stood at the bar for more than 10 minutes, waiting for even an acknowledgement that I existed, and received none. Not even the eye contact and head nod that says "we see you, and we're on our way." Your bartender stood right in front of me, making drinks, chatting away with the regulars and the cute girl at the pool table, but could not be bothered with me. Very unfortunate.
I was expecting more fresh ingredients, didn't see many fresh options on the menu. I get the impression they could have made something wonderful if I had asked for it though. Pool was free and smoking lounge is handy. Very dark, probably best to go at night.
The prices for the drinks here are disproportionate. Drinks are average but they cost 5-star prices. If you are risking your life to go drinking into Tenderloin, then there are better bars in the neighborhood.
Please adjust your working hours so that people don't arrive at closed doors
Visited here for the first time a year ago during a visit to San Fran and enjoyed delicious drinks. Sad to say that the quality and care of the mixologist has severely diminished and will not be stopping by again.
The music is to loud to here someone's conversation it is not really a dance club for the loudness . And disturbs everyone that lives up stairs in the building .
We opened a tab and decided to pay cash. We are sure our drinks where tampered. The next day we found out the bar had charged out credit card too!!! When we came back to get our money back, they claimed we told them that the cash was the tip... 100% tip??? C'mon. In the end they had to give us our voucher and AmEx restored our balance... If you want to get robbed and drugged, make sure to visit this place...
This place is pretty basic. The crowd was not cute. Music wasn't good, and no where to sit. The drink was pretty strong, it better be for 9 bucks. We left after one drink and I spent most of my time there talking to Quintin the bouncer, at least he was nice lol
What a terrible experience. The Red Rum drink was a so awful. Don’t go here!!!!!
