Amazing experience! We came from NY for vacation and got super lucky when picking this place. Pasta was fresh and delicious, bolognese was so tasty I wanted to lick the plate clean! Service was family style, very friendly, and you can tell the food is made with tremendous care. Don’t skip this place, you won’t regret it!! Make a reservation!
What a fantastic dining experience! The food was absolutely amazing, and the atmosphere was very warm and welcoming. The service was excellent from start to finish. Everything we tried were delicious. Special notes to the lasagna which was fantastic—comforting, flavorful, and clearly made with care. I also tried the Gnocchi Gorgonzola (substituted with penne pasta), and it was out of this world. Rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced. The portions were very generous, which was a pleasant surprise. To top it all off, the lemon sorbet was a refreshing and delightful end to the meal. If you're in Sarasota, this spot is a must-try. We’ll definitely be back!
We had a marvelous evening at Maestrale. You can really just feel the family vibes when you arrive. We arrived about an hour or so before close so we didn’t have trouble finding a spot. They were very accommodating of our baby as well. We started with some wine and my wife had an aperol spritz which was very good she said. My buddy and I enjoyed our wine. Just had the house. They bring out complimentary bread and oil with some seasoning in it which was very good. I started with a Caesar salad which my wife and I both really enjoyed. I had the fettuccine boscsiola, very very good, noodles cooked perfectly along with the mushrooms. They grate the cheese on top at the table too which is a nice touch from a fresh Parmesan block. My buddy got the chicken parm said it was good not the best he’s ever had but real solid. My wife got the gnocchi Gorgonzola, said the flavors were awesome enjoyed the gnocchi but wish she had my noodles with her sauce. The gnocchi was prepped perfectly from the couple bites I tried. We finished the night with the affogato. They use 3 different gelatos, vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate. My wife was skeptical of anything besides vanilla when ordering but absolutely loved the options. Strawberry was her favorite I loved the chocolate super rich. Our servers were great, sons of the owner. Gave us a little history of the restaurant and coming over from Italy. They also didn’t rush us at all towards the end of our meal to leave as closing time approached. Definitely will be back and hope you check it out too.
The best Italian restaurant in Sarasota. Family owned and all homemade food. Great restaurant, great owners, beautiful atmosphere. Highly recommended!
This is absolutely worth a try! Family-owned and intimate table settings ensure the ambiance is what you’re looking for in a lovely evening. The service was outstanding. Alfredo was charming and provided the specials for the evening. The Osso bucco with risotto was cooked to fall-off the bone perfection. Gnocchi is house-made and all were soft as pillows. From the fresh foccia to the pistachio cake and the most delicious cappuccino, the meal was phenomenal. No pictures of entrees because they were eaten too quickly! I will be back again soon! Meatballs, burrata, beef carpaccio as appetizers were delicious.
This was our first time here, and we loved it so much that we made reservations for next week. The atmosphere is intimate European. Alessandro our server was delightful, attentive, and helpful. I had Veal formaggi, which was outstanding. Meals were prepared from scratch in the kitchen. Great wine list. Moderate prices. They were gracious and helpful when we brought our own birthday cake and ice cream. I urge you to try it!
We had a wonderful dinner this evening. This was our second time eating in this family owned and operated restaurant. The food is wonderful, makes me feel like I’m eating at my nonna’s house!. The husband is the chef, his wife and two sons work the front of the house. They are kind and welcoming. I love to support locally owned businesses and this place makes it easy! We had orecchiette with broccoli rabe and sausage, pappardelle with bolognese and a special lamb shank over pappardelle in a Borolo sauce, which my husband claimed to be the best he ever had. We will definitely be back😊
My husband and I had dinner here tonight. WOW what an amazing meal!!!! This place truly is a hidden gem. We have so many Italian restaurants near us where we live in Upstate NY but none of them come close to this one. Highly recommend!!!
Great Italian restaurant, a family owned business with good service, amazing food, and nice environment! Highly recommend!
Amazing authentic Italian food! Must check them out
This is a special, family owned restaurant. They care about their customers.
We had the best seafood pasta outside of Europe!! Very friendly service and great food.
An awesome family owned Italian Restaurant in Sarasota. The food and the service is excellent. A must try.
Food, service, & atmosphere! Every dish is special and unique. Highlight of meals.
Maestrale is a fabulous lovely family owned restaurant. The food is fantastic especially the homemade tiramisu. There is an extensive menu with wonderful Italian specialties. The atmosphere is warm and inviting with white table cloths. The service is excellent. I highly recommend Mastrale.
The customer service jams excellent, good environment very friendly and lovely, the food so fresh and amazing for me and my family is the best Italian restaurant that we been so far
We had an incredible dinner here. The excellent service, combined with a warm, inviting atmosphere, and delicious food, made for a memorable evening. As a family-owned business, you can truly feel the personal touch in everything, from the outstanding service to the delightful twists on homemade dishes. The care and passion of the family shine through in every aspect, making it a standout dining experience Will definitely come back when visiting Sarasota 🫶
Retired local couple. Eat out more than in. Heard about Maestrale, yet another Italian restaurant, and were there within the week. Small storefront easy to miss but don’t. It’s really good. Sea bass was presented as the center piece of a full plate of great flavors. One of my personal best fish dishes ever. Judy’s pasta was not that special- needed a little more of the noted “spicy” - but still very good. Service spot on. Attentive and nicely paced, with descriptions and suggestions that were especially helpful to first timers. And note, the wine was priced at $60, and rated 4.3 with a $50 average retail on Vivino. So absolutely just go…
Hidden gem in Siesta Key! Best Authentic Italian food I've ever had! (Sorry grandma) The atmosphere was casual elegance. The food was incredible! Everything was extremely fresh and you could seriously taste the love the owners/chefs/waitstaff put into every bite! The 1st night we had Linguine Pescatora. A delightful blend of fresh seafood and pasta. It had a rich depth of flavor unlike anything I've ever tasted! The appetizer of Bruschetta and dessert of Taramisu were equally fresh and delicious. We were so in love with the food and service we returned the next day. We had the fluffiest Gnocchi on earth! Little pillows of heaven. The desserts were equally incredible. It was ice cream with espresso on it and rich chocolate lava cake. No matter what you choose on the menu, you cant be disappointed! I live in Orlando and I'm already planning another visit next month just to eat here again!
I had the pleasure of dining here with some friends a couple of weeks ago. I live within walking distance and never knew it was here. I have to say that it is by far the BEST Italian food in the area. Their chicken parmesan is fantastic! Not only is the food delicious, the service is phenomenal. I love that this place is family run. You can feel it in the atmosphere.
My husband and I went last night with friends. Three of us had the seafood on pasta and it was delicious with clams, mussels, calamari, shrimp. I can’t remember all that was in it but last night they included a surprise addition for us little squid. The dish was not fishy tasting but had a very good seafood taste. My husband had the special which was lamb chops and he loved it. He also had a Caesar salad. He said it was the best Caesar salad he’s had yet in Sarasota. The dipping sauce for the bread was so good we asked for another helping of bread be brought to the table. The restaurant had a traditional ambiance with tile flooring, white tablecloths, and quiet background music. It is in a small strip plaza on Tamiami but when you walk in you are transported to Italy. A family from Sicily owns the restaurant and the mother cooks and the sons wait tables. The waiter we had was very good he cleared the dirty plates as we were done with them, remembered who ordered what, refilled our wine glasses and, put our leftovers in the to go containers. At some upscale restaurants we have been to they don’t clear the dirty plates as you eat and have you put your own leftovers in the to go containers. I recommend going on a weekday evening as the restaurant is less busy, especially off season when the population decreases. Go. You will love it.
Great local family run Italian restaurant. Great service and delicious food . The branzino is awesome. They have a large selection of wines and don’t leave without trying g their desserts ! Lava cake is the best in town .
Mom was in the kitchen. Son was out server. Probably the best Linguinie a la vongole and tiramisu I’ve ever had. Super nice people and great food.
Best Italian restaurant in Sarasota! Family run business that treats customers like welcomed guests into their home. Haven't had Italian food this great and fresh outside of Italy. And the selection of appetizers, main courses and desserts has something for everyone, not to mention the amazing daily specials.
We arrived here for dinner by accident and were pleasantly surprised. Family owned and operated - you feel a warm welcome and personal care in service. The pizza is delicious and unique! Made with three types of flour-rice,soy & white, gives it this light crispy crust but airy middle. We asked for a classic margarita & it was perfect. We had the sausage and broccoli rabe starter too! So good! We finished we beignet’s- definitely try this dessert! We really enjoyed our evening and we will definitely be back.
Best kept secret around. Incredible authentic food and the staff is awesome too. Looking forward to heading back asap. Already pimped to many of my friends. Need a better wine list, but they do let u bring ur own. Stellar!
Their Food and Wine are FANTASTIC!!! Service and Recommendations were Spot On. Highly Recommend this Restaurant. Family owned where the parents are the Chefs and their Sons are the Waiters, been serving Sarasota Successfully for over 10 years.
We had a wonderful dinner. Service was excellent! Food delicious. Erik, our server, was very helpful in recommendations and made us laugh. For dessert the expresso Italian ice cream was to die for. I’ll definitely be going back. Hidden gem for sure!
My wife and I and another couple who are our close friends had dinner last night at maestrale to celebrate my birthday. The food and service and atmosphere was spot on amazing. I seldom go out for Italian food as I am a first generation Italian who grew up on homemade southern Italian home cooking. I myself am an accomplished Italian cook making all of my dishes homemade from sauces sourdough bread sausage etc. this restaurant is like eating at someone’s home. Really the best Italian restaurant I’ve eaten at certainly in Sarasota but as good as anywhere I’ve eaten from nyc to Los Angeles. Great southern Italian cooking. My only concern is getting a table once the snowbirds all arrive. Good job!! Grazia a tutto.
Best Italian food we've had in the area! The owners and service provided were both great! My family arrived later in the evening after an event and they were very kind unlike other places that try to rush you out the door. Food was fresh and phenomenal. Their wine selection was a plus.
We were very impressed with the food and service. Loved the smoked mozzarella and speck appetizer, eggplant spaghetti, and veal scaloppini. Finished the meal with a coffee affogato. The food came quickly, and the service was very friendly and attentive. The only wish is to improve the wine menu with a greater selection of wines by the glass.
One of the best restaurants in town. Great for all settings - intimate date nights to company dinner parties. Staff is excellent!! The daily specials were incredible! You can taste how homemade it really was. Family owned and operated which means family recipes! Try the meatballs 👌👌 the wine list is also amazing! Will absolutely be back!
I doubt you’ll find a more authentic Italian restaurant in or around Sarasota than this place. From the atmosphere, service to the food, all top notch! Family owned restaurant, amazing chef who definitely deserves more recognition. Highly recommend!
Just lovely - Great Food, Great Service. You can find authentic italian cuisine at a fair price. So much better than going to a chain restaurant. Try it - make the reservation right now!
Absolutely wonderful all around. Highly recommend this place. They make their deserts every day. I love gorgonzola gnocchi and it's so tough to find and theirs was out of this world. My 2nd favorite is tiramisu which is rarely made in house. Theirs is and it's out of this world good.
This is the best-kept secret in town! Excellent food prepared with family recipes. This restaurant is family-owned, and you can't ask for better food or service anywhere in Sarasota!
Authentic Italian food in Sarasota! Family owned and operated, literally the mom is the one cooking your food which is delightful. We requested no salt and they accommodate all of our food without salt for our daughter, amazing. She came out to say hello to our baby and our family and given my daughter an Easter egg. Very good experience! The Tiramisu is UNIQUE! You must try it!
What a treasure! The food was authentic Italian. Every bite took me back to my travels in Italy. The staff was friendly and attentive. We felt like family. The best Italian dinner experience we’ve had in Sarasota.
This place is great! Super welcoming staff and phenomenal food. Was in Italy last month and this was a refreshing of Italy. . If you close your eyes when you're eating, you'll think youre there. Come here and eat everything! And the cafe is legit!
We had a lovely dinner at this restaurant when we visited Siesta Key recently. We enjoy Italian food and were looking for authentic fare. We were not disappointed. It was Sunday evening and the restaurant was not crowded, which was an added bonus. Alfredo was our server. He was attentive and friendly. We ordered a bottle of Chianti, the broccoli rabe and sausage appetizer, and shared the bolognese for our meal. Just perfection. Homemade pasta. Fresh ingredients. A delight. We had the chocolate covered ice cream “bomb” for dessert AND took a cannoli for later! I am still telling people about this meal a week later. If you’re looking for simple yet delectable Italian eating, this is the place. I hope we get back there so we can try other things on the menu. 10 out of 10, we do recommend.
I don’t think these people could make bad food if they tried!! I was pleasantly surprised with everything I had the opportunity to taste.
The best Italian restaurant in Sarasota by far. All the classic Italian dishes made fresh and delicious, plus amazing dishes from Puglia, where the family owners are originally from. It is truly a family restaurant with Mom and Dad running the kitchen and administration and the sons are the outstanding waiters. We are lucky indeed to have them in Sarasota! Viva Maestrale!
What a nice discovery among many Sarasota's restaurants. My husband and I had a most wonderful dinner tonight. This is family owned and operated restaurant with excellent fresh food, excellent service and excellent ambiance. Chicken and veal are perfectly cooked, pasta is real "al dente", salad fresh and with right proportion of ingredients. We were really pleased with everything, including bread with dipping sauce. Most definitely we'll be back. Highly recommend!
What a wonderful family-owned Italian restaurant. This would have been five star food but my pasta was cooked to just a little bit too mushy. Homemade pasta was delicious even if overcooked. I had a cannoli which was really nice. A great place to share a meal.
The food was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS… I had lasagna; everyone in our group REALLY Enjoyed their meal & the Service was AMAZING and so was the Atmosphere!!!! Highly Recommended Tell a friend to tell a friend!
Dinner with friends on Saturday night. We had a reservation but lingering folks slowed getting seated. Food was top rate and the wine list is impressive.
On a scale of one to five, Maestrale Gets five for ambience and service, but only three for food. Lamb, shank and accompanying pasta or undercooked, octopus, and lamb Rips overcooked. Maestrale needs to get its kitchen right.
A lot of confusion, especially when trying to prepare the bill. At this time, it appears we were charged twice and no follow-up is required. I enjoyed my meal.
Okay so idk if it was just my order however, I ordered 2 pizzas and a salad online and it said it would be ready by 7:15. I arrived at around 7:30 on a Friday, expecting it to be busy. It was indeed packed and I had high hopes. The host said my food would be ready soon, I waited about 15 minutes and then I got a phone call asking about my order. I told them I was already here and they hung up on me. Okay, weird but whatever. I checked on it again and still it would be “soon” after another 20 minutes, the manager apologized and said it’s coming. I finally got my food about 45 minutes after it was supposed to be ready, and I asked for a discount due to the delay. Thankfully they did give me half off which i really appreciated. Okay the food, by the time i got home, it was cold and far from any kind of pizza ive ever had. My wife and I agreed that whatever the weird flatbread shaped pizza we got was lacking in flavor or seasoning. The dough was good but other than that it honestly was not worth the time. Also our Caesar salad was the most bland excuse for a $10 salad. Not worth the effort. I wish they didn’t waste my time by changing when my food would be ready. The whole thing just was disorganized. Also idk if I’m being picky but you cannot change anything on your pizza online. I got a sausage and broccoli rabe pizza and didn’t realize it did not come with any sauce. Overall there are better pizza options around. Okay, so I ordered two pizzas and a salad online, expecting them to be ready by 7:15. I arrived around 7:30 on a Friday, anticipating a busy restaurant. I confirmed my presence and was abruptly hung up on. I checked on my order again after another 20 minutes, and it was still marked as “soon.” The manager apologized and assured me that it was coming. Finally, I received my food about 45 minutes after the expected delivery time. I requested a discount due to the delay, and thankfully, they offered me half off, which I appreciated. Order placed online at 6:15pm, called to confirm at 6:20pm. The store estimated my order would be ready around 6:45pm. I arrived on time, but my order hadn’t even been started. No apology was offered. I didn’t receive my order after 30 min wait . To make things worse, they forgot the dessert I ordered. When I asked, the staff responded with, “Do you want your dessert?”—which was confusing and honestly disappointing, considering I already paid for it. Food quality was just average at best (pizza and pasta with meatballs). Overall, it felt like pickup customers don’t receive the same level of attention or service. Definitely expected better.
