Great food and great people. I've been going for 20+ years and Always get a real consistent meal. Great quality, clean and fresh. Will continue to go there for another 20+ years
This place has always been good but they mustve made some kind of change. Their steak plate is consistently bomb af. Sure tender everytime. My friend has a problem with their rice but whatever. Good price and food.👍🏿
We have been going here for years. They have absolutely the best falafel anywhere without a doubt. All their other food items are equally tasty. You can't go wrong at Pita Kitchen.
food was delicious and no animals allowed which i love i am tired of people bringing their dogs into restaurants
Great place for mediterranean food. I get the lamb laffa. Large size wrap with veggies, protein and carbs...a little of everything. The hummus is great. Turkish style Coffee will wake u the f up. Everything is fresh. Falafel is good too. Parking can be a little hard but I always check the back of the building for a tight spot.
My favorite pita spot. The shawarma is amazing, along with hummus and Greek salad...can't get any better. Parking isn't the easiest to find but definitely worth hunting for a spot to dine here.
I was having trouble finding a good Mediterranean spot then I found this place which was super local and it’s delicious! Highly recommend! The garlic sauce is a must try! The staff is also super nice!
My go to is either the chicken pita wrap or the falafel pita wrap, with extra tahini. This place is almost always busy for a reason. The food is good. Small joint with seating inside and outside. I would suggest calling in your order if you are picking up food, it will save you a lot of time. There is parking at the back of the restaurant which is very convenient.
I'm not sure what everything is called, but the food here is goood. Falafel is a hit or a miss for me, but served hot and crispy, perfect texture on the inside. Everything here is good. The little salad, the rich hummus, the meat, mmmm. The spices are strong which makes it good if you like Mediterranean, none of that blanded out flavor.
Phenomenal Mediterranean food. 5 stars for this style of restaurant (I'm not comparing it to fine dining). Great schwarma and falafel. Don't be dissuaded by its appearance. The place is great and cheap. Parking can be a real pain, however.
Great lunch spot with very delicious shawarma! We had the chicken shawarma pita and it was excellent. The garlic sauce on the side is divine, must try if you're in the area.
My wife and I enjoy coming here for a big pita. Very generous portions and great price. Delicious food. Service is not bad, but nothing to write home about. This would be my only knock.
Been going there since they opened. They have some of the tastiest Middle Eastern food in the world. I wholeheartedly loved pita kitchen! You must go eat their food now!
I loved this small whole in the wall. The customer service was awesome!!!! I don't mind waiting for my order to go. The quality if the food is great. Keep up the good work....
I love this place!! This place is a hour drive from where I live. So every time I am able to her food from here. I always order 2 plates, 1 for the night and the other for the next day!!
I love this place I have been going with my dad since I was a little kid. A little pricey but well worth it. It is more of an authentic home cooked meal feel to the food.
Another great find in the valley. This place makes a filet mignon wrap under $15.00. Made fresh and served with pickles, tahini and garlic sauce if you ask nicely. It’s reaaalllly good. No joke. Seating area could use an upgrade but no other complaints. Never had a bad meal here.
best baba and hummus in LA. cant go anywhere else its just too good here.
Been going to the Pita kitchen for years. Awesome Mediterranean food, quick and fresh service, you can't go wrong. Parking can be a little difficult but just be patient and you'll find a spot. They have tables but it's a small place. To-Go options are typically easier if you have a number of people eating. I don't think you will be disappointed.
Good food, fair prices, good portions. Can’t go wrong if you have a Mediterranean craving
I have been coming here for years, and I have to say that after the remodeling, it definitely gave Improvement to the place. The food quality has not changed it's still awesome just like before. I love their french fries they're usually really good, and to be honest all their menu is pretty good as well.
This type of food is my favorite so I've had it from many locations and this place by far is the freshest, best tasting and large amounts I've had here in the USA. Very quick delivery too. Absolutely outstanding quality food. Much recommended. ❤
This place is always a hit..good food and really nice portion..I've been knowing the guy who takes my order for over 12years so that being said I pretty much order from him but you guys tell me what you think about this place.
I will definitely be back here! The guys behind the counter when we came at night were very friendly. Very accommodating as well. I wanted the lamb and beef shawarma, and asked to have all the sides be hummus. Which they did very well! The shawarma flavor is great, the texture is great. I wish the shawarma was a little more moist, but I'll admit it was pretty late, they were close to closing. So I'll definitely have to come sooner next time. Overall though, I can't complain. They're white garlic paste that everybody loves is very lovable. Pun intended. There should be a space or two in the front. When things get busier though on Ventura Boulevard and Van Nuys, there is a space or two in the back of the place. Otherwise, you're going to have to park in residential up the street. This place kind of reminds me of one of those New York pizza places you would go to, except this place serves shawarma. There's indoor seating for I would say maybe about 15 people, and then a couple of tables outside for maybe 8 to 10 people. You're just far enough off of Ventura Boulevard to where you don't get the noisy traffic. But I would imagine traffic going north on Van Nuys could be a little rough during rush hour. Ironically, most of the people that were in front of and behind me in line we're getting their orders to go. I just wanted to sit at the place for a while and see what the Ambiance is like. And it's great!
The value here is unreal. I order a chicken shwerma plate, garlic sauce, and a side of fries and it is perfect for two meals. Food is tasty and what you would expect. Great spot for lunch and dinner!
The owners are amazing, food is amazing! I’ve been going here for 20 years and I will always come back!
The Best shawarma’s in LA. Absolutely love this place. If you’re Venezuelan and miss those shawarma days THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU. Great quality food and price. Also their staff is always amazing, polite, helpful and always is such a great mood.
Delicious Middle Eastern food at very reasonable prices. The place is always busy, but service is quick and friendly. If you are having a pita or a wrap, ask them to put some fries in it - there is no extra charge and it's delicious! I makes sure to always stop there when my travels take me to Los Angeles.
The falafel wrap here is huge and absolutely delicious! The service at the window was prompt and friendly and the gentleman behind the window was very good about answering my questions about the ingredients of the food. The location is listed as a Ventura Blvd address but the actual restaurant is accessible from Van Nuys Blvd, south of Ventura on the west side of the street, south past the old blue newsstand by Crave Sushi.
Absolutely, the most authentic and consistently delicious Mediterranean food in the entire valley! The #bestmealpitakitchen in my humble opinion, is the chicken kabab plate with the creamiest (amazing!) hummus, cucumber & tomato salad, white meat chicken breast fillers that were grilled on the kabob then laid out on a very generous bed of fluffy rice....Oh, and don't forget the #pita 😉 (not pictured here but sooooo good). Also not pictured but probably the most incredible highlight of this entire spot, is that they make fresh, homemade Baklava, DAILY and it is TO DIE FOR!! Damn, now I really NEED some Baklava... Run, don't walk! Try this place ASAP and tell me what your favorite dish was or if you liked the Baklava (how could you not?), using the hashtag #bestmealpitakitchen Jess 💕
Got the chicken swarms pita it came with the best garlic yougert and the pita was soo goood!!! 10/10
Are you hungry for Mediterranean food. Come to Pita Kitchen If you want great gyros, shawarma, kabobs, and pitas. They have good prices and you can order online.
Cozy ambiance eatery; very friendly staff; generous portions; delectable flavors. Perfect for first date.
Casual spot for Mediterranean food. A staple on Van Nuys Blvd. The dining room is small. The food is delicious at a reasonable price. The staff is very nice.
This place has been a go-to for me for a long time it's the first time writing a review, awesome food.
I love Pita Kitchen! The food is always fresh and delicious every time I visit, and the staff are polite and welcoming, making it an easy choice to keep coming back!
This is a family owned restaurant. Everything here is excellent. The prices are great. I always get the vegetarian grape leaves. Spinach pies. Hummus And don't forget Baklava for your dessert The owners are so friendly
One of the very best Mediterranean spots I’ve ever been to. Discovered doing door dash during the lockdown. Picked up food for someone and returned straight away. Wow!!! Parking is hard but so worth it. Don’t let its small size deter you, size spent matter here!!!
My first time eating here at Pita Kitchen! I’m new to the area and had a craving for this cuisine. So because of the 4.5 stars I googled the address and I was not disappointed at all! Food was delicious! I will definitely have left overs🌷🌹🤗😊
Pita Kitchen is such a gem in our community & our go-to for tasty & healthy food. We've gone here for many years & never leave disappointed. Both the food & customer service are on point. They offer delicious, hefty portions at an affordable price with excellent customer service. Their menu offers something for everyone--vegetarians, vegans & carnivores alike. The chicken schnitzel, falafel, Greek salad, hummus, baba ganoush, & rice are divine though you can't go wrong with anything else on the menu. #SupportLocal #SupportSmallBusinesses
Great food and service been going since 2006. However beware of parking they don't have much and it's a high traffic area I got into a car accident on 8/31/25 trying to leave.
I got the chicken shawarma wrap with a side of garlic sauce. Best wrap I’ve had in my entire life! It’s saucy, seasoned, and just great. The homemade baklava is also good! The filling is very flavor full but some of the spices in the filling can be a little over powering. The register man with the red hat was very welcoming.
Casual Cozy spot with parking in the back or street. I ordered a 2 meats combo plate. Beef/lamb sharwam + beef shish kebab with side or Mideast salad and babaganoush. The beef shish kebab was probably the best I’ve had!
Great food, large portions and awesome service. The pita was delicious and seemed made in house as well as the sauce it came with. The only bad thing is that I haven’t started to come here sooner.
I couldn’t wait to eat my wrap so this isn’t the best photo. These wraps are consistently one of the best steak wraps in the valley. That’s saying something. The only knock is the parking. There is hardly any. Still worth a visit.
Thrilled they now have vegan meat. This was the vegan kabob plate and it was phenomenal! I ate one of the kabobs before taking a picture
I tried this place after a friends recommendation and was blown away by the flavors and qaulity of what Pita Kitchen is putting out there. We got a bunch of different menu items and shared it family style, with my favorites being the chicken kabob, chicken shwarma, falafel and bomb hummus! You can't go wrong here, the staff is fast and friendly, but the real star here is the food! Can't wait for the next time!
What a great food! best grilled beef and chicken , with greek salad is absolutely delicious ! Friendly service, nice staff! Outdoor seating is lovely and ambiance is nice. Prices are great and the amount of food you get is quite large for that $20 . More than enough for 2 people. Love grabbing a bite here with friends
Love this place; casual seating with good quality food. I love the chicken shawarma… do the plate, it is not that heavy.

We have been coming here for years. The people working here are so nice and the friendliest. The food is really great, with large portions which we can appreciate because it feeds us and lets us have leftovers. I am picky about falafel and this one is good. Hummus is great too. We love the schwarma and the kabobs. The sides are all great too. We always order takeout but if you do want to eat here, its super super casual so dont expect anything fancy. Great food and the friendliest staff! The french fries are great thick fries
This place is my go to place. It is honestly priced and always pretty quick no more that 15 minutes. Worst part about this place is finding parking but fret not no one in Sherman Oaks knows how to drive so park wherever cause it’ll be quick
My husband always orders for pick up, but yesterday we decided to seat there ...and wow!! I was so happy about the service the 2 gentlemen very friendly, respectful, presentable, the place very clean the bathroom very clean, very calm place no loud music you can hear yourself having a conversation. Small place but cozy. Defently I will go back and eat there 100%.
Hole in the wall with just a chill low key vibe. Not a bringing the whole family kinda joint. More like rolling up solo or 3 deep. That’s just my opinion.

The Great Garbanzo. Part of the Fantastic Falafels. Sounds like a new superhero, right? You can just imagine him or her, using the boiling oil from their fingertips to deep-fry garbanzo beans then spitting tahini from his or her mouth. OK, sorry, went too far there. Suffice it to say this is the great, reasonably priced middle-eastern food. Love the falafels. Perfectly cooked. Only lightly spicy. Tasty! The pita version is just $6, the wrap $7 and the huge plate is $9. My friend got the chicken shish kabob which seemed more like schwarma. He thought it was a little overcooked and bland but I thought it was good, so what does he know? The place is a small little hole in the wall, low ceiling, next to the newsstand, but it's totally authentic and charming in its own way. You can eat inside, in the small dining room, or outside in the plastic tented area with heat lamps in the winter. Lots of takeout. Even delivery. Yum
Great fresh pitas and wraps. Nice cozy hole in the wall. The only complain - it was poorly insulated and there was cold draft coming through the window crack and the door. Otherwise, food was very good.
Food is delicious and fresh in this local hole in the wall. Casual Mediterranean favorites. All long time loyal and local clients. The only reason for no 5 stars? The service could have been faster. 👍
My friend swears that this little unassuming storefront on Van Nuys Blvd where u can walk up to the sidewalk window to p/u ur orders, makes, bar none, the smoothest creamiest hummus anywhere to be found. And I must say, it really is a cut above...as is the beef kabob plate which is bursting w/ flavor and features high quality chunks of medium rare beef. Better than the Shwarma plate which is what I usually get. Their tabouli is also pretty perfect. Ask for the lavish wrap instead of the pita. It's worth it. Parking on the street and a few spots in the back. Eat like the locals and those in the know do. Try Pita Kitchen! You won't be sorry. It's a find!
The shawarma is very gross the salad has only cucumber very gross food
One of the very few , if at all , that serves one of the notorious middle eastern dishes - "FOUL" - but (!) without an egg (?) . I stop here once in a while and its one of my favorite "mother-land" food locations . This time only 4 stars for the lack of an egg in the foul dish as well as "out of" malt-star beer and baklava after 9pm . Please serve responsibly .
Kind of a hole-in-the-wall type place. You certainly don't go here for the ambience... Basically was an outdoor restaurant with some walls put up to enclose the outdoor space. BUT, if you go here the food is absolutely incredible and absolute 10 out of 10. Very ample portions at just slightly higher than normal prices.I highly recommend the food here and if you can take it to go out and enhoy somewhere else even better
Great food, but used to be better. It's been a few years since I've eaten here and this last meal just wasn't as good as I remember. The friend I ate with said the same thing. Definitely had something to do with the pita they used. Really wish I could give 5 stars, but it just wasn't there.
I have been driving past this place for over a year, saying to myself I should try it. I finally did. Awesome!!! Great food. Reasonable prices. Nice staff. It's a busy little place...I'll be going back again.
No nonsense pita place with excellent falafel and chicken. They have plates as well. Small place that packs a punch! Ask for the garlic sauce and mix it with the tahini!
Good for take out. Quality of food is decent. It was better in the past, but still better than som other restaurants in the area
Been a loyal customer for 10+ years And never dissatisfied with food. Chicken is a good option but i love the beef and of course miss lamb which they don't have for quite some time now...dunno why they pulled it off the menu. The salad and humus is tasty too. Good for pick up or on occasion to eat inside. The decor is very stringy although they remodeled a few times but never had enough budget i believe.
I liked it better years ago when they had the pieces of meats rather than sliced sections of the meat The red meat today was dry and harder to eat. The chicken was great though and the rice and salad were good. The hummus can use a little help flavor-wise and texture wise. It is still a great bargain price for a full meal.
Great food, big portions, fair price, and they’re happy to do substitutions! Super friendly staff. Charred chicken was flavorful. I missed that garlic paste stuff but forgot to ask so I don’t know if they have it. Was a tad plain without it, but the chicken flavor upheld it.
The food was good. I got the falafel Pita. They gave me extra tzatziki on the side. That was nice! If I had to perfect it even more I would remove half of the amount of hummus they add to it. I would also change the recipe of the hummus a bit. It’s okay but it could be great! The place needs some love. It’s outdated and it has no charm. It needs to have some paintings and the walls painted just to start. I love the music they play in the restaurant. It’s music from their culture. Sounds so good and puts you in a mood to eat Mediterranean.

This place used to be good. However now they got too stuck up. The customer service is horrible. The food is mediocre at best. They got complacent and let they staffs run the place down with it. I got beef shish kabobs, chicken schnitzel, babaganoush, and hummus. The beef was good quality but over cooked. Everything else was good, but you can get all of these at other places.
Don't get me wrong, the food is Ok, but you can find better middle- eastern restaurants in the area. Also, this place is tiny. Limited parking at the back of the restaurant, and it is not easy to find street parking as this street is so busy. I ordered the mushroom Hummus; it was not that good, but eatable. The price was ok, and the guy behind the cashier was friendly. You get what you paid for.
Food was ok but quite a bit on the pricier side.
I did asked if the order was with fries, but got one with rice instead. I don't really eat rice. pickles instead fresh cucumbers for some reason, not sure if it was salad or yogurt. Wasn't impressed with chicken sawarma, it had a lot of cartilage, which delicacy for Mexican kitchen but not really common for European. My husband was happy with his order. If it wasn't for this I would leave 2 stars for food, I'm putting 4 stars for atmosphere just because it's small place with small parking lot. It looked popular, people kept coming while we waited. But for me place closer to my home tasted better or maybe it's just more closer in taste to what I usually had before. Anyway, I don't think we'll be going back there again.
So. Don't come here expecting Israeli style pita or lafa. The shawarma is tasty - lamb and beef. You have to ask for chips (upcharge) & they only give you like 5. The pita they give you for the hummus is the think pita. They don't even heat it up. It was ok but wouldn't go back. There is street parking. There are a few tables inside and a couple outside. Not so great for sitting and eating - better to just take out.
Food: they serve kebabs and other Middle Eastern foods. The pita is not too thick and the cucumber salad is pretty good. The meat is a bit different because they serve patties. The beef tasted a bit too dry for me. Parking: the restaurant has a few parking spaces behind the building, accessible on Van Nuys Blvd. Tips: they have a few tables and a TV. The entrance has a sliding door.

Why your phone is busy all the time? Phone orders are ancient? In the last 2 months I've tried to place phone pick up orders at least 5 different days several time each day and the Google site listed phone number is busy. Tonight I drove by and there was no one in the line outside. And guess what. Phone was busy. Ay caramba!
This place used to be my favorite place but for some reason the quality of the food is not as good as before. Instead of tiny little crispy meats I had to chew thick cut of nut cooked shawermas. They changed everything and now I don't like this wraps anymore. 😒
Used to enjoy this place (and I’ll remove this review if things change), but something is off the flavors and quality lately. The humus lacks tahini, the shawarma tastes nothing like proper shawarma (closer to Mexican grilled skirt steak?). Rice was overcooked and not basmati. The portions are huge and they come out fast but it’s closer to what you’d get from a taco truck than a middle eastern.
I’m giving only 2 stars !!the place was better before changing ownership . Food is dry and out of touch. Pita bread dry and eggplant salad made with NO love . Falafel is poorly made with to much oil .vegetable salad is horrible and no taste at all . Chicken is not fresh also the meat is cheap . Service is horrible ! Guys working there are not happy I guess . At the end I can say One thing .. if you want to eat healthy and better This place is not for you . Not to mention the parking problem .
Beef and lamb pita was tasteless. It lacked flavor and balance. The meat wasn’t of great quality either and wasn’t hot enough. A good amount of decent sauce could’ve fixed it probably but it wasn’t there, and overall it felt like a rip off for the price. Disappointed.

Definitely not Mediterranean taste. Food is bland. Chicken was burned and rice was not basmati as it should be. First and last time I go there.
I had high hopes for the restaurant and decided to try the simplest Middle Eastern dish, falafel. I informed the staff that I was considering placing a large order, but only if the falafel passed the taste test. Sadly, upon taking the first bite, we discovered that the falafel was still raw. Despite trying three different bites from five pieces, we came to the conclusion that this was just another disappointing representation of the potential of delicious Middle Eastern cuisine
I was excited to order for the first time after reading so many good reviews. But unfortunately didn’t have a tasteful experience with it. My chicken shawarma had literally NO FLAVOR at all. I was supposed to at least taste the garlic sauce (which I asked for double), and still no flavor. Their falafel had more taste than my entire sandwich. Sadly I won’t be ordering anyone from this place.
The food here used to be great. I used to bring all the foster kids and the dogs. I used to meet friends here for a quick lunch or dinner. The food plentiful and delicious. I moved away from the area that always needed a point to come back here as I drove through, but the last times I've been here the food is disgusting. Tonight the order was so disgusting and went directly into the trash. I'm never coming back. It's a real disappointment that a Russia that's been a favorite and holds so many good memories has gone completely downhill.
Pita kitchen using to have super delicious food but something has changed since the ownership changed. Last night i was very disappointed with quality of food nothing tasted as it used to, most of my friends agreed. That was my last time for the pita kitchen for me and my friends.
When I walked in, the first thing I noticed was the beef and lamb shawarma sitting out, and I could immediately tell it was processed, pre-cooked frozen gyro meat. To be sure, I asked the cashier, and they confirmed it was frozen. That was enough for me to avoid ordering it altogether. They did say the chicken shawarma is homemade, so I decided to give that a try. The chicken shawarma plate came with rice and two sides. Out of everything, the tabouli was the only item that actually felt fresh and homemade. The hummus, on the other hand, tasted bland and processed—nothing like a freshly made hummus should taste. The chicken itself didn’t carry that classic shawarma flavor; it was closer to plain grilled chicken with little seasoning. The rice wasn’t fresh either, and overall the plate felt like a letdown. On top of the food being hit or miss, the kitchen and store looked dirty and outdated, which only made the experience worse. Between the processed frozen beef and lamb and the lackluster chicken, this isn’t a place I’d come back to.
Worst food ever, not even middle eastern. Food was made by people who aren’t even Arab..Didn’t taste good, not worth $20 for plain microwaved rice, kabobs was whatever. Salad wasn’t fresh and hummus tasted off like it was old.

Food was not worth the price paid. The hummus, which should be a signature appetizer for a middle eastern restaurant, was bland and tasteless. The pita bread that came with it was thin as a tortilla and tough as leather. The beef shish kebab pita was just okay, not very tasty like a good kabob that’s been marinated and grilled, this wasn’t that one. I won’t be eating there again because I don’t think it’s going to get any better.
I didn’t like this place at all. The food wasn’t tasty, it was so different from Mediterranean food. The pitta was dry, what they called Shwarma, was ground meat, taste terrible. I will not recommend this place. It used to be a good food and different owner.
