A local favorite, Sonora Thai never disappoints. Our Yellow Curry favorite is just one of many dish options. And I'm pretty sure I posted before about their delicious fried plantain with hone made coconut ice cream! But if I haven't, it is definitely worth a try!
The soup is so fricken good! Service is consistently friendly and timely. Only thing I think could be improved is possibly their drink menu and the chicken (very small pieces) Other than that 5 stars all day! Packed with flavor!
Extremely attentive, friendly and hard working staff. They made sure my glass was always full and food was good. The food was great. My son is vegan and was very happy with their selection.
I LOVE this place. I went vegetarian due to high blood pressure, and this spot has a huge selection of vegetarian friendly options. I know this is completely subjective, but this is hands down the best Thai Food restaurant I've ever been to. It's located inside one of the many historic buildings that make up Sonora. The decor is quirky, but the staff is great at getting your order and food out, and they keep your drinks full. If you're in town and a vegetarian, this is your spot...and if you're in town and just in the mood for something different make sure to stop in here. My personal favorite is Gang Pak (I think that's how you spell it). BE CAREFUL of "Thai Hot". They ask you how spicy you want your meal. Mild, medium, hot and Thai Hot are your options. You've been warned!
Food was great, service was friendly, place not overcrowded. Had the garlic prawns. Not only in garlic sauce but also chili sauce. Not thick sauce. It was very liquid. The flavor was awesome. Served with Jasmine rice. Just wish the portions were larger.
Food is always great, as is the service. Everything on the menu is delicious! Try the Pad-Khua-Mow, it's has the best eggplant I've ever had and I don't even like eggplant! If you want it spicy just ask them.
Delicious food and great service! I ordered the Yum Nua salad which is a classic Thai beef salad, and it was the best one I've ever had! My brother ordered the Tom Kha soup which was also incredible. This small town restaurant absolutely knocked it out of the park for us. Servers were kind and responsive
Delicious food, friendly service, good menu including many appetizers and salads and desserts at fair prices. Very popular deservedly so. Great location in middle of Sonora's main street.
Great restaurant! Thai food here are authentic (I ordered Pad Kra Pow with Thai hot level) and quite delicious. Just stop by and finding something to eat, but this is better than my expectation. Highly recommended for everyone, especially Thai folks.
Great atmosphere and service. Fantastic food and portions.
I'm no connoisseur of Thai food, but of what I've had, this beats the places I ate at in the Bay Area. Ceylon tea is delicious hot and unsweetened and probably great in the traditional sweet Thai Tea. The soup and food had a distinctly unique sea taste that I really liked. Not just the standard salty dish broth – very light, very flavorful. And the curry was also excellent. We cleaned our plates. Oh, and we were terrible people arriving just 10 minutes before close. They were kind enough to stay open. Our waitress was excellent. Polite, attentive, but also didn't hover or come around too often. Overall look forward to coming back!
This is some of the best Thai food I've ever had. Our family frequents this restaurant. Everything is so fresh and consistently delicious. We also love the staff, who are very accommodating and friendly. I can't recommend them enough. Some favorites are the green curry, chicken garlic soup, tiger beef, and sweet sticky rice with mango. Also, do yourself a favor and grab a Thai iced tea.
Comfortable popular downtown spot. Quick service even with the dinner rush. Fresh vegetable rolls very good. We enjoyed the panang curry and the peanut sauce tofu over steamed cabbage and spinach. With hot tea. Very much enjoyed our dinner. Thanks Sonora Thai!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sonora Thai Cuisine and I must say that it was an absolutely delightful experience. The food was simply outstanding - every dish was packed with authentic Thai flavors and cooked to perfection. The ambiance was cozy and charming, and the service was top-notch. The staff was friendly and attentive, and they made us feel right at home. I particularly loved the Pad Thai and the Tom Yum soup - they were some of the best I've had in a long time. Overall, Sonora Thai Cuisine is a must-visit for anyone looking for delicious Thai food in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. I highly recommend it and would definitely give it five stars!
Pad Thai was delicious, I got it for lunch. Came with salad. Food was served in a timely manner, our drinks were refilled often as needed and server cleared our table so we didn’t have dirty dishes at the table. Went for a lunch on a Wednesday. Taste of pad Thai was delicious, would order it again!
I absolutely LOVE this place!!! The staff is lovely, they are quick, foods incredible, great portions, always hot and fresh, spiced wonderfully, wonderful selection..its clean... the atmosphere is very welcoming. Never had them get my order wrong and the 34. Gang Panang Peanut Curry(chicken) is to DIE FOR... seriously legit comfort food. If you love thai food, bring your booty over to Sonora Thai Cuisine...you wont be disappointed.
We were staying in the town briefly and got food to go. Everyone in the restaurant was incredibly lovely! We got pad thai and panang curry which were both absolutely delicious!
The service was so friendly and the food AMAZING!!!! I live but ordered the chicken basil which is not Christmas on the menu, but they made it anyway and it was amazing, We ordered the honey pork, and that was also fantastic. I would get two orders next time., The pad se yew(sp) noodles we ordered with beef was excellent and We also ordered the fried rice with chicken, and it was amazing. There were only two of us, but we had enough leftovers for the next day. We are definitely gonna make this a weekly thing.!
My wife and I are crazy about Thai food and were pleasantly surprised that the food was authentic and excellent! We especially enjoyed the papaya salad. The service was also amazing.
Simple flavours that mixed perfectly. Highly recommend. Stopped in on a lark. Very pleased.
I think i got some kind of chicken kra pow in a garlic sauce with brown rice. It was tasty. I tried the sticky rice with taro for dessert. The thai tea is always good. Last time I got the green curry and it was tasty also. I normally like pad kee mao but I'm used to the spicy brown sauce and their sauce was kinda reddish and not spicy at all so it was different. Overall I like the food there.
Such delicious curry, and the sweet taro rice is bomb. It's definitely my go to spot, perfect for warming up in winter. Their space is very cozy, but I love getting it to go to have at home -- it's the best. ☺️
Food was yummilicious 😋 We ordered Panang curry with tofu and fresh rolls vegetarian. Both items were super delicious. If you are in Sonora and looking for Thai food, I highly recommend this. P.s. we were so hungry forgot to take pictures of food when it arrived so posting after pics.
In an area dominated by burgers and fries, this was a welcome haven to people like me who need their Asian food fix! My husband and I stopped here two days in a row for lunch during our Yosemite trip and it always hit the spot. We tried the chicken satay, the Penang curry with brown rice, the Pad Woon Sen, Pad Kee Mow, the pepper pork (all medium spicy) - everything was flavorful and delicious. The staff were consistently polite and friendly, and the ambience was just right. Highly recommend stopping here for lunch during your Sonora stay!
A little unexpected gem of a restaurant in Sonora! An authentic Thai restaurant which tastes just like it would in Bangkok or Phuket. Highly recommended! We were able to park right in front, but there are also spaces in the back.
Very good restaurant with delicious foods! I ordered "Pad Kra Pow" which is the menu that is difficult to find a delicious one and this restaurant made it quite good. And the price is so cheap. Confirm by thai guy
Consistently yummy Thai food in a great location on historic Washington Street. I normally get the always delicious Pad-Kee-Mow but wanted to try something different, so I had the Pad-Ma-Khua-Yao. Super yummy and the eggplant was amazing!
Portions were perfectly sized. I had garlic glazed pork with herbs and eggplant, and it had a side of rice to implement as needed. Nice staff, lovely ambience, very good for couples, but wouldn't recommend 6+ groups as 18% gratuity fee is charged. Pretty good for a first visit.
The food is consistently delicious. Even on busy nights they never fail to deliver.

We sat in the front window and enjoyed great conversation and a view of Sonora's beautiful downtown. They had a very complete Thai menu. The Pad Thai with shrimp was excellent.
Can I say this is the best Thai I’ve had in California? And please order the hot jasmine tea, they home brew it, and again, the best I’ve ever had! Mellow mix of jasmine and toasted rice/sencha. Incredible.

7 years ago I swore I would not come back, but... we came back. It was definitely busy. There was basically one gal serving the whole restaurant, so service was slow compared to other places but fast considering there was only the one poor gal running around as best she could. The food was really good though. Mine was the curry chicken soup special - big bowl, lots of flavor. I would recommend going in with patience.
We were spending the weekend in Jamestown and decided to go and visit Sonora. This was the first time that we have been in town and it is a nice place. We will definitely come back again. Went to this restaurant also for the first time and it's a nice clean restaurant. The waitress was attentive and we ordered our food and it did not take long to get it. We ordered about six different dishes and every one of them was excellent. We will definitely come back to this restaurant whenever we come back in town.
Food was good, although I've had tastier Thai options in other restaurants. I liked that there were a few vegetarian options. Cuisine closes at 9pm30 but we were rushed to make an order to take away at 9pm15, so make sure you don't come too late!
Considering all the standard American food restaraunts in Sonora it is great to have an authentic Thai place. It is a family owned and run business and you can tell. They are passionate about what they do. That does also mean they can be a little slow. The curries are all good but they could use a little more spice. The proclivities of the local clientele calls for more mild food, but I want my red curry to have a good burn. The papaya salad has great flavor and full size shrimp. Usually it's served with the tiny bay shrimp but this has a good helping of tender large shrimp. That being said, of you don't like a fishy salad this may not be for you. The imitation (yes, fully vegetarian) duck is probably their best dish. You could fool an meat eater with this, but for the vegetarians, it does not taste too much like meat. If you're like me and can't stand Beyond or Impossible, this is a good choice. The salmon special has great flavor but the chicken tends to be overcooked and there are more bell peppers than anything else. The same with chefs special #1. The chicken was overcooked and there were way too many corns. There are usually only two workers, and one cook, so it is usually a long wait. I have been there twice now when their card machine does not work. This last time I had placed an order for pickup and had to wait for probably twenty minutes while they reset their system and they still couldn't figure it out, only accepting cash or zelle as payment. By the time I finally paid and got out of there my food was cold. I would also recommend eating in the restaurant and not ordering to-go. Usually in restaurant you get enough to eat for a full meal AND a to-go box for leftovers. The leftovers alone are about the size of the entire to-go order. The peanut tofu had maybe 15 pieces of tofu and did not even fill the entire box. If you want authentic Thai food, this is your best bet, but don't come expecting a fast meal. Also, it can be kind of cold inside so bring a jacket just in case.
My go to is always this refreshing Rainbow salad! However, I’m a big fan of authentic Thai food. While the food here is always tasty, and the service is wonderful, the dishes just don’t reach my Thai spice/authenticity craving most times. I’d still recommend to anyone. The food is still flavorful:) If the papaya salad had more savory flavor and spice then that would be my favorite ❤️
Good atmosphere, high ceiling, good service. It is famous among local that I talked to. We have noodle soup, I like curry noodle but I am not big fan of beef noodle. The other food that our friend had such as fried rice, kwe tiaw looks good.
Food is good. A great for beginners who have never had Thai, that would like to taste. Everything is good...service, food and space. The flavors are subtle - ask for condiments to kick it up for spice.
Great Thai food in the area! You must try the Mango sticky rice which is one of the best you’ll have. We’ve tried a few other vegan dishes which were good. I can recommend this place if you’re passing through.
Fresh and tasty. Pork buns had a strong pork favor if you like that sort of thing. Good service.
Food was good. Especially the vegetarian spring rolls were delicious.
Not judging this based on how close it was to the best Thai food, but for a restaurant here, this was fantastic!

Great lunch special prices! The Panang Curry is really good but I should've asked for some spice. Very mild.

I was really expecting more from this establishment. I had the pad thai and Tom yum but the portions were a lot smaller than every other Thai restaurant I've ever been to (which is a lot) and the flavor off. The soup was missing something ? Lemongrass or kiffir? The service was sub-par but atmosphere was good
Awesome Thai red curry. Waitress was a little rude. Atmosphere was slightly uncomfortable as well. Good food, alright place to eat. Would recommend getting yours to go if you stop by.
Meat and vegetables were over cooked. Thai tea was watery. Rice was okay, nothing special, but they didn’t even fill up the tiny rice carton all the way. Speaking of which, the portion sizes are tiny for the price of the food. An entree, an app, and a drink was over $30 for one person. Only redeeming quality are the bbq pork buns: fluffy and delicious with the correct pork-to-bun ratio. I’d go back for those but that’s it. Disappointing.
To the nice lady in the always wearing a ponytail. Please wash your hands and change your gloves. You don't take them off I witnessed you stick you finger in your ear. Touch every surface and handle cash all while wearing the same gloves. That's Gross!
Service was very poor. We waited about an hr to get the food. Food was also meh.
Im fine with Sonora Thai. The food is good, but for what we paid ($65!) the portions are ridiculously small. We’re locals, we won’t go back. Too bad.
